Watch Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon's First Gameplay Trailer

By Emanuel Maiberg on May 31, 2015 10:28 pm

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have revealed the first gameplay trailer for Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, the next entry in the turn-based Pokemon spinoff series for 3DS.

Judging by the trailer, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon looks very much like previous games in the series, with players exploring randomly generated dungeons as a team composed out of 20 playable pokemon.

Super Mystery Dungeon will launch for 3DS in North America this winter.

The most recent entry in the series was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, which was released in the west in 2013. In a 5/10 review, critic Heidi Kemps wrote: "It's as cute as a button, but dull, simplistic dungeon exploration drags Gates to Infinity into mediocrity." Nintendo also recently revealed that the series sold more than 13 million copies worldwide.

Presidential Hopeful Ted Cruz Says He Loves Video Games

By Emanuel Maiberg on May 31, 2015 10:22 pm

It's important to know where presidential candidates stand on issues that matter to you most, what are some of their favorite games?

Presidential hopeful Ted Cruz, for example, recently said that he loves playing mobile games like Candy Crush Saga and Plants vs. Zombies. He'd play console games too, but he's worried he'll get hooked.

"I don't have a console, mostly as a time management tool, because if I had one, I would use it far too much," Cruz told The Daily Beast in an interview.

Cruz, a junior Republican Senator from Texas, said that some of his favorite childhood games were Galaga, Space Invaders, and Centipede.

"I was a kid growing up in the '70s and '80s. I had a Nintendo, an Atari," he said. "I still remember the Christmas we got our first Pong game."

According to The Daily Beast, Cruz's roommate in Princeton and later Harvard Law David Panton said he remembered Cruz playing Super Mario Bros. and "Japanese fighting games" through the night.

On the other side of the aisle, the William J. Clinton Library recently posted a photo of democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton doing what so many others did in the early 1990s: playing GameBoy. The photo you you can see here was taken on April 6, 1993 on her flight from Austin, Texas to Washington, DC. At this time, Bill Clinton was President and she was the First Lady.

What do you think about Ted Cruz's taste in games? Let us know in the comments below.

New Chibi Robo! Platformer Announced for 3DS, and There's a Chibi Amiibo too

By Emanuel Maiberg on May 31, 2015 08:12 pm

A new Chibi Robo! game is coming to the 3DS, Nintendo announced today during a Nintendo Direct presentation in Japan.

If you're not familiar with the series, previous Chibi Robo games let you play as the tiny, titular robot, who goes around completing menial tasks to make your owners, the Sanderson family, happy.

The new Chibi-Robo! for 3DS looks a little different. Instead of roaming around in a fully 3D environment, it's a more traditional side-scrolling platformer in the style of New Super Mario Bros., only Chibi-Robo can use his power cord to perform special moves.

Amiibo collectors might be more interested to learn that Chibi Robo is also getting his own amiibo in addition to the game, which you can see in the image below.

The game is set to release in Japan in fall 2015.

Wii U-Exclusive From Tekken Director Project Treasure Gets New Trailer

By Emanuel Maiberg on May 31, 2015 07:46 pm

Bandai Namco has released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming, free-to-play Wii U-exclusive Project Treasure today.

It only gives us a brief glimpse, but the short trailer shown during a Nintendo Direct presentation in Japan today makes it look like a four-player cooperative third-person action game, where players raid ancient tombs for treasure.

Most of the action takes place from a third-person perspective, but you can also see one player firing a rocket launcher from a first-person perspective. Players can also be seen fighting monsters, zombies, and carrying bags of loot.

Bandai Namco said that we'll find out more about the game this summer.

Nintendo previously confirmed that Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada is working on the project.

Monster Hunter X Announced for 3DS, Watch the Trailer

By Emanuel Maiberg on May 31, 2015 07:24 pm

Capcom announced Monster Hunter X for the 3DS during a Nintendo Direct presentation in Japan today.

As you can see in the trailer below, Monster Hunter X, which stands for "cross," seems much like latest entry in the Monster Hunter Series, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, which was released for 3DS in February.

It looks like Monster Hunter X will feature new monsters, new actions and attacks, and will take place across several towns and locations that seem familiar from previous Monster Hunter games.

Monster Hunter X is set to launch winter 2015.

Combined with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate's Japanese counterpart , Monster Hunter 4G, sales of that game had already eclipsed 3 million units as of February.

Check Out the First Guns From Gears of War Creator's Next Shooter

By Emanuel Maiberg on May 31, 2015 01:03 am

Gears of War Creator Cliff Bleszinski directed his followers on Twitter to a concept art gallery for his new, free-to-play first-person shooter currently codenamed Project Bluestreak.

The gallery shows off some of the game's weapons, including the gun you can see below. The description for the image says it's a near final version of the LAW gun, or Light Acceleration Weapon.

The gallery also gives us a look at a shoulder mounted rocket launcher called the ANVIL launcher, though according to the website these are just concepts for now. In addition, the gallery above also contains several concept art images for maps and characters from the game.

Bleszinski, of course, worked at Epic Games for two decades before quitting in October 2012, eventually opening his own studio, Boss Key Productions.

The studio's first title, Project Bluestreak, is set in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi world. The PC game will be published by free-to-play juggernaut Nexon America. No release date for the game has been announced.
