Destiny 2 Iron Banner Gear: See All The New Weapons, Armor Ornaments, And Items

By Chris Pereira on Feb 02, 2018 04:16 pm

One of Destiny 2's biggest updates so far is now available, introducing new elements to the game like Masterwork armor and Raid armor perks. Its release also marks the launch of the latest Iron Banner event, which is the first one to take place since Curse of Osiris debuted in December. That DLC started the second season of in-game content, with each season bringing new gear to activities like Faction Rally and Iron Banner. Following the recent Faction Rally event's new set of items, now is your chance to acquire the just-added selection of Iron Banner gear.

Iron Banner Engrams you receive from Lord Saladin can now have a variety of new items inside them, alongside those that were already available. Even more will be added during the next Iron Banner, but for now, you can expect to have a shot at a new hand cannon, scout rifle, shotgun, Ghost, Sparrow, shader, and ship. Additionally, there's a new emblem that tracks how many times you've ranked up with Iron Banner; you can earn this by completing the Iron Banner Milestone (which requires playing 30 total Iron Banner matches during Season 2).

Bear in mind, the new gear requires that you own Curse of Osiris. Even without the DLC, though, you're still free to participate in the event and earn Season 1 gear. You can see all of the new gear, including the weapons and armor Ornaments (for Titan, Warlock, and Hunter), in the gallery above.

One notable change for this instance of Iron Banner is how you earn rewards. In addition to the usual means of acquiring gear, you can now directly purchase select items. Saladin will sell three weapons and five pieces of armor during each event for a combination of Legendary Shards and Iron Banner Tokens. He also has five armor Ornaments that can be acquired by completing Challenges during Iron Banner matches.

This Iron Banner runs from now until the weekly reset on Tuesday, February 6. The game mode this time around is Control. You can see what else is new in Destiny 2's update in our rundown on the 1.1.2 patch notes.

Monster Hunter World Armor Showcase: See Some High-End Player And Palico Gear

By Chris Pereira on Feb 02, 2018 04:05 pm

Thanks to a variety of factors, Monster Hunter World is likely to be many people's first experience with the franchise. New gear is desirable in any RPG, but it's especially important in Monster Hunter, where your progression is tied not to experience points, but the new armor and weapons you're able to acquire and craft.

Much of that gear is unattainable until you've sunk a significant number of hours into the game, honing your skills, taking down challenging enemies, and amassing the necessary resources for crafting. To give you an idea of what kind of armor sets you'll be able to use once you've progressed far enough in the game, we've compiled the gallery above. You'll find images of high-end armor for both your own character (if you're playing a male, as we were), as well as gear for your Palico companion.

Monster Hunter World releases on January 26 for Xbox One and PS4, with a PC release to come later in the year. That's notable, as recent entries were limited to 3DS. The additional horsepower has allowed for a game with much larger, more beautiful environments to play in. It also does a better job of introducing newcomers to the flow of playing a Monster Hunter game. You can read more about what to expect in our Monster Hunter World review.

Those playing on PS4 will be able to get their hands on some exclusive gear based on Horizon: Zero Dawn. We also know that new Mega Man-themed items are on the way, and if past games are any indications, that won't be the last crossover content that Capcom releases.

What Trailers Can You Expect At This Year's Super Bowl?

By Mat Elfring on Feb 02, 2018 04:37 am

It's that time of the year again, when the NFL hosts its final football game of the season--the Super Bowl--and the vast majority of non-NFL fans get together to watch brand new commercials and movie trailers. This year's event should have quite a few big trailers during the big game, as studios are willing to pay $5 million for a 30-second commercial break slot.

Get ready to see some early looks at this year's biggest summer blockbusters. Here's what we could possibly be seeing during this year's event, as you patiently await for a time out on the field.

Mission Impossible: Fallout

Mission Impossible: Fallout is the sixth movie in the franchise--which is one of the few successful movies based on a TV series. As promised, Tom Cruise will be pulling off some ridiculous stunts once again, and with the poster for the movie recently released, it's more than likely one of the two 30-second spots Paramount booked for the Super Bowl will go to Fallout.

Avengers: Infinity War

The first Avengers: Infinity War trailer from November got everyone talking about Captain America's beard. While the Super Bowl is appearing on NBC and Marvel is under the Disney banner, Deadline learned that Disney has a 30-second and 45-second slot during the event. Disney has four big movies coming out (Black Panther, Infinity War, A Wrinkle In Time, and Pixar's Incredibles 2), and Infinity War will more than likely be the biggest one, so expect to see the Avengers take on Thanos during the Super Bowl.

Black Panther

Early takes on Black Panther are looking good after the premiere. Sure, there have been a lot of TV spots for for the movie, which hits theaters on Friday, February 16. It's not a sure thing Disney will use one of their two commercial spots for Black Panther, but with a release two weeks after the game, we will more than likely get a final trailer.

Cloverfield: God Particle

The third movie in the Cloverfield universe--rumored to be titled God Particle--was originally set to release February 2017, and now, it's coming out this April. There hasn't been any trailer or images for the film, so the Super Bowl could be the first glimpse we catch of the upcoming film, which is also rumored to be headed straight to Netflix. We better see something soon, as the fourth film in the series has finished filming and rumored to be hitting theaters this October.

Castle Rock

Hulu's new series Castle Rock connects the work of Stephen King in one, singular universe. An ad for the new upcoming show will air during the Super Bowl, or you can watch it here, as Hulu released it early. Fans of King's work will notice a ton of references to his previous work and some cameos from actors in his recent films.

The Incredibles 2

In November, a teaser for the upcoming Incredibles sequel was released by Pixar. Fans have been waiting a long time for this movie, and there are only a few more months before its release in June. Disney tends to have a spot for family-orientated material. Seeing as this is one of two family-films Disney has planned this year, the trailer for Incredibles 2 has a good chance of appearing during the game.

A Wrinkle In Time

Based on the Madeleine L'Engle novel, Disney's upcoming family film A Wrinkle In Time, will hit theaters in March. There was an official, full-length trailer back in November, but there's been nothing new since then. Considering it's a month away from release, there is a good chance a trailer for A Wrinkle In Time will appear early on during the Super Bowl.

A Quiet Place

Paramount's upcoming horror film, A Quiet Place, could find itself airing during the Super Bowl or the pre-game, as the studio has two slots during the show, according to Deadline. Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) and John Krasinski (The Office) star as parents who live in a cabin and have to be completely silent, as a monster is hunting them, and said monster has incredible hearing. On paper, the movie sounds a little silly, but the first trailer for A Quiet Place is intense. Considering the movie is coming out in April, we should be seeing a brand-new trailer.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

A new trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is expected to air during the game, as the studio behind the movie is the under the NBC/Universal banner. The movie is set to release in June, and we saw the first trailer for the film back in December, which had more of Chris Pratt's character trying to relate to velociraptors.

The 19 Best Superhero Secret Identities, Ranked

By Chris E. Hayner on Feb 02, 2018 02:50 am

19. Clint Barton

A superhero is only as good as their secret identity. Here are 19 fan-favorite superhero secret identities, ranked from worst to best.

AKA: Hawkeye

While Clint Barton's story is tragic (his parents died and he wound up in an orphanage), his history as a circus performer gives Hawkeye a pretty colorful past. While he tries to keep his two identities separate, they're constantly at odds with each other, making him a wildly interesting character to follow.

18. Hal Jordan

AKA: Green Lantern

While Hal Jordan is the Green Lantern, his real identity is legendary in its own right. As an expert pilot for Ferris Aircraft and an Air Force Captain, Jordan is one of the best there is behind the controls of a jet. He's a bit of an adrenaline junkie, as it turns out.

17. Oliver Queen

AKA: Green Arrow

When it comes to Oliver Queen, there are two very different versions: The one from the comics and The CW's Arrow. The comics have been a mixed bag for Oliver, portraying him as everything from a journalist to an advocate for the poor. It's Arrow's version of Oliver that gets the depth. Seemingly inspired by Bruce Wayne, Oliver is a reformed rich kid doing whatever it takes to save his city -- even if that means vigilante justice. But he doesn't stop there, also rising to the ranks of Mayor of Star City.

16. Selina Kyle

AKA: Catwoman

While technically Catwoman is a villain, she treads into antihero territory quite often. She's on the wrong side of the law as a burglar, but her transition also brought her face-to-face with Batman.

15. King T'Challa

AKA: Black Panther

Captain America and the rest of the Avengers were caught off-guard when it was revealed that T'Challa, king of Wakanda, was moonlighting as the Black Panther. A protector of Wakandans for generations, it's unclear exactly who knows that T'Challa is the one currently under the mask.

14. Steve Rogers

AKA: Captain America

Before he was given a super soldier serum, Steve Rogers was an unassuming and frail young man. He wanted to serve his country but simply couldn't. Once enhanced, Rogers became a very symbol of America itself. Now, after being frozen until present day, Rogers is something of a relic of the past. While he has acclimated to modern life and triumphs as Captain America, Rogers is an old soul at heart, which sets him apart from many in comics.

13. Barry Allen

AKA: The Flash

Whether he's in his The Flash suit or not, Barry is constantly doing all he can to fight crime. Not only is he a superpowered metahuman speedster, but in his secret identity he's a forensic scientist working with the Central City Police Department. No matter what Barry does, he can't help being a hero.

12. Matt Murdock

AKA: Daredevil

Who would accuse this unassuming blind lawyer of being the vigilante of Hell's Kitchen? Thanks to his incredibly advanced senses though, that's exactly who Matt Murdock is -- a hero.

11. Barbara Gordon

AKA: Batgirl

From her inception, Barbara was portrayed as the well-educated, career-focused daughter of Commissioner Jim Gordon. She also happened to moonlight as Batgirl, joining the Caped Crusader in his fight to keep Gotham City streets free of crime.

10. Tony Stark

AKA: Iron Man

Tony Stark and his Iron Man alter ego are an interesting case. Essentially, Tony is Bruce Wayne with a mind for science, rather than detective work, and a very cocky attitude. He lets the world know he's Iron Man, rendering his secret identity not-so-secret.

9. Dick Grayson

AKA: Nightwing & Robin

Batman's first sidekick is also the most iconic. Dick Grayson, an orphaned circus performer, was taken on by Bruce Wayne as a ward and trained as his original sidekick Robin. He would eventually emerge from Bruce's shadow though, becoming Nightwing and taking on his own life and identity as an adult.

8. Janet Van Dyne

AKA: The Wasp

The socialite daughter of a scientist killed by an alien, Janet teams with Hank Pym (Ant-Man) to avenge her dad as The Wasp. She even marries Hank, though they end up divorced.

7. Peter Parker

AKA: Spider-Man

Who would believe that the guy under the Spider-Man mask is just a nerdy high schooler avoiding bullies and working on his own scientific studies -- including developing his own web fluid for fighting crime? Peter Parker is the last person almost anyone would expect to be moonlighting as Spider-Man. And that's why it's the perfect secret identity.

6. Billy Batson

AKA: Shazam

Perhaps the best cover of all, the large muscular man known as Shazam is actually a kid. Billy Batson, originally introduced as a 12-year-old, merely has to speak the world "Shazam" to turn into the adult hero.

Like with Peter Parker, most would never suspect a child of being the superhero. In Billy's case, he doesn't resemble his younger self at all.

5. Bruce Banner

AKA: The Incredible Hulk

While Hulk is the side of Banner that makes the biggest physical impact, it's his non-rage side that is so fascinating. Dr. Bruce Banner is a genius scientist, renowned in his community for his brilliance. While he may be prone to hulking out, which is good when a superhero is needed, the human side of Bruce is as important -- maybe more.

4. Carol Danvers

AKA: Captain Marvel

Not only is Captain Marvel one of the most well-known superheroes in the Marvel Comics universe, but her alter ego is a hero in her own right. First appearing in comics as a NASA security chief and a Major in the US Air Force, Danvers is also remarkable for demanding equal pay for women in journalism in an early issue of Ms. Marvel.

3. Diana Prince

AKA: Wonder Woman

Over the years, Diana Prince has had many careers. She's been a nurse in the military, an astronaut, a member of the United Nations and more. Of course, that's all a cover for the truth: She was born on an Amazonian island.

2. Bruce Wayne

AKA: Batman

Billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne is the perfect cover for the Dark Knight. Who would suspect the guy that seemingly has it all puts his life on the line every night to rid the streets of crime?

1. Clark Kent

AKA: Superman

The most famous superhero secret identity of all time, Clark Kent is the alter ego all other comic book characters are judged against. All is takes is a quick trip to a phone booth for the mild-mannered Clark to become Superman.
