Bethesda Continues Teasing A Pre-E3 Announcement After Rage 2

By Anonymous on May 13, 2018 09:54 pm

Update 3: The latest teaser image is here, and this one's a bit more on-the-nose than the others. It doesn't have the same pink paint as the earlier ones, but it does show what looks to be a character from Rage standing in line to enter a building with Anarchy Tours on the door. The original Rage came in a special Anarchy Edition, so there is some tie to suggest this is Rage-related. We'll likely get a better idea on May 14.

Update 2: Another teaser has arrived. It shows a busy street in what could be London, following the earlier Big Ben teaser image. Again, we see the same pink color all over the image, though there is seemingly nothing directly tying this to Rage 2.

Update: Bethesda has shared another teaser image on Twitter, further reinforcing the theories that May 14 will bring some kind of announcement. This one features a rocket firing into space with the numbers "5-14" adorned on the side. It's clear that something is coming on Monday.

Rage 2 still seems to be a likely candidate, assuming the Walmart listing for it was not an error. The smoke left behind the rocket is the same pink color that was used in Bethesda's tweets about the Rage 2 listing. Whether that means anything at this point is unclear, but the choice of color between each of these posts is telling. Whether the actual images--the rocket and Big Ben--have any meaning remains to be seen. The original story follows the tweet.

Bethesda appears to be teasing an upcoming announcement with a vague image of the Big Ben clocktower in London, England. A tweet consists only of an image of the tower, with bright pink streaks of graffiti across its face. The Internet is already scouring the image for clues.

Recently Walmart Canada appeared to have leaked several upcoming game announcements, including Rage 2 from Bethesda. The company had an uncharacteristic reaction for a publisher, publicly responding to the leak with gentle chiding. The official Twitter account for Rage made a point of mocking the placeholder image for using the wrong font and incorrect key art. All this is notable because the hot pink paint used for the anarchy logo and notes appear to be similar to the one on the Big Ben clock face. The paint even looks like it could be a partial anarchy symbol.

Also potentially a clue is the time, which is set at 5:14. That could correspond to a date, which would be this Monday. Altogether it seems possible that a Rage 2 announcement of some sort could be coming next week. Whether this would have been the original plan or if the company is just responding quickly to the cat being let out of the bag isn't clear.

Or, all this could be entirely off the mark and Bethesda is teasing something else entirely. With E3 2018 rapidly approaching, we'll know soon enough. Bethesda's E3 showcase is planned for Sunday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET.

Bethesda has continued to release teaser images every day, each with a mildly different theme. Instead of abstract objects, these images focus more on images of people, or grotesque parts of them. All but one maintain the purple 5:14. You can check out the rest of the teasers revealed on Bethesda's Twitter in the gallery below.

This New Switch Game Is Animal Crossing With Cats

By Anonymous on May 13, 2018 09:20 pm

If you're still holding out for Animal Crossing on Switch, this adorable kitty-themed title might be for you. Mineko's Night Market, a game about exploration and crafting, is coming to Switch.

The development team, Meowza Games, tweeted out earlier this week that the title will be coming to Switch. While we still don't have an exact release date, Mineko's Night Market is expected to launch this fall on PC, Mac, and Switch.

While the team claims the title is about "crafting crafts, friending friends, and catting cats," there's a bit more to Mineko's Night Market than that. You'll play as Mineko and her giant cat-like friend Abe, shortly after Mineko moves to Mount Fugu Island. Together, you'll gather resources and craft items to sell at your market stall, play loads of mini-games, and of course, befriend lots and lots and lots of kitties.

But for as much as it is about exploration and crafting, Mineko's Night Market also draws from Japanese folklore. Yes, the game is about soaking in the mundane, but it also has a story to tell about friendship and tradition.

If Mineko's Night Market is a little too tame for your tastes, Get ready for Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is releasing on Switch this August. For even more Switch news, keep your eyes peeled for this week's 13 new releases.

Harrison Ford Loved Solo: A Star Wars Story And Surprised Alden Ehrenreich During Interview

By Anonymous on May 13, 2018 03:30 am

It may be a little odd for longtime Star Wars fans to see Alden Ehrenreich to play Han Solo, since the character was made famous by none other than Harrison Ford. Aside from the fact that early tweets indicated that Ehrenreich does a phenomenal job, Ford himself has given the film and the actor his blessing and loves the new movie.

The new Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich, wanted nothing more than to sit down with Ford before he took on the role for the first time, and during the Solo press conference, he detailed his meeting with the iconic actor: "Right before we started shooting, I wanted to talk to Harrison [Ford], just to kind of pay respect and have him give us the blessing for the film," the Solo star explained. "So we had lunch, I guess, two years ago, and he was really encouraging and really supportive, and then we went off and shot the film."

Ford's support didn't stop there, as Ehrenreich bumped into him prior to this press conference. "And today, I was doing an interview, and they were talking about, 'Is there anything else you'd like to ask him. Because he's...' And I was like, 'Well...' [The interviewer replied] 'Well you have your chance.' And he was behind me."

Entertainment Tonight filmed the interview and surprise and posted it to Instagram, which you can watch below. Ehrenreich and Ford meet and Ford tells the new Solo to "get out of my chair [and] get out of my life," as everyone, including director Ron Howard, share a laugh. The two share a handshake and a hug afterwards.

Ehrenreich continued to praise Ford for all of his support, even saying that Ford enjoyed the movie. "It's just such a huge deal to have him really genuinely love it," explained Ehrenreich. "He really genuinely enjoyed the film, and it meant a lot to me that he took the time to come out here and do that."

The young actor also discussed stepping into the Millennium Falcon for the first time and adjusting to it over the course of filming. "You get in, and you can't believe you're in it. It's so surreal... And a couple months into shooting it, you're inside of it. You're flying it. You know where the buttons are and how the chair feels. You're like, 'Okay, this is kind of like my ship now.' It's deeply gratifying."

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25. The movie is expected to break box office records when it releases. Make sure to check back on May 15 for GameSpot's full review.

Donald Glover Desperately Wanted To Play Lando Before Star Wars Solo Was Announced

By Anonymous on May 13, 2018 02:28 am

Donald Glover playing Lando Calrissian feels like a perfect fit, and it is not just Star Wars fans thinking that. Glover himself was incredibly excited to take on the role, even before the film was even announced, as the multi-talented actor explained at a recent Solo press conference, which took place two weeks prior to the May 25 release of the movie.

Lando Calrissian was one of the few supporting characters that hasn't been included in the recent Star Wars sequels or Rogue One spin-off in the past couple of years, so it was only a matter of time before he showed up. Donald Glover, who currently stars on FX's Atlanta and makes music under the name Childish Gambino, knew Lando would make his return and wanted to get an audition as soon as it was available.

"When I heard they were making these, I told my agent, 'if they're making anything with Lando in it, I have to be Lando,'" explained Glover. "And he was like, 'I hear you. I don't like your odds.' And that was exactly what I needed to hear. It was the only role I've wanted in the world to do. I'm just really happy to be a part of this experience."

Why his agent said that wasn't explained. However, Glover wasn't as big of a name back when he confirmed he was playing the role in spring of 2016. At that time, he was primarily known for his work on NBC comedy series Community as well as for his musical career. At that time, Glover had not appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Atlanta was a few months out from starting its series premiere. All of those roles helped show the acting depth he has, and luckily, the casting behind Solo took note.

While full reviews for Solo aren't out yet, there have been some reactions on Twitter from those who got to see an early screening of the film. Most people are saying it takes a little while to get used to seeing Alden Ehrenreich playing Han Solo, as opposed to Harrison Ford who played the character in the four previous Star Wars films. However, many of the critics seemed pleased with the film, which is a relief, considering the amount of trouble this film had during production.

Solo: A Star Wars Story comes to theaters on May 25, and it's expected to break box office records when it releases in the next couple of weeks. Make sure to check back on May 15 for GameSpot's full review.
