Pokemon Sword and Shield have finally been revealed, and we now know what the eighth generation of Pokemon games will look like on Nintendo Switch. The reveal trailer showed the new Galar region, which appears to be inspired by England, the Gen 8 starters, your trainer, and a number of Pokemon. You never know with a new Pokemon game what old Pokemon might make an appearance, so we've rounded up all the Pokemon from the trailer here. Many of the Pokemon are from more recent games, including Sun and Moon, while a few are older. Almost all of them were shown in battle. It's worth noting that the trailer appears to show the return of Pokemon's traditional battle style in wild Pokemon encounters, as opposed to the Pokemon Go-inspired catching mechanics seen in Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee. We didn't see Pokemon in the overworld, like in Let's Go, or even following you around. Pokemon Sword and Shield are releasing worldwide in late 2019. Be sure to see our story on the new Gen 8 starters for more details, and maybe tell us what you think these mysterious symbols are so we can all start theorizing. Pikachu
Naturally, Pikachu is the first Pokemon we see in the Sword and Shield trailer. The female trainer is seen sneaking in the grass, leading to this wild encounter. Minccino
Minccino is a normal-type Pokemon introduced in Gen 5. Wishiwashi
First introduced in Sun and Moon (Gen 7), Wishiwashi is really weak alone but can transform into a much scarier fish. We see the male trainer catching Wishiwashi in the traditional style. Grubbin
Another Sun and Moon Pokemon, Grubbin is a small bug who eventually becomes a bigger, electrified bug. Hoothoot
Hoothoot is a Gen 2 throwback and a good owl. Zweilous
It's a bit hard to see, but Zweilous is fighting Hoothoot in the trailer. It's a dark/dragon Pokemon and it's great. Flygon and Braviary
Sorry, this is the best screenshot I could get. On the left is Gen 3 Pokemon Flygon, and it's fighting what I assume is Gen 5's Braviary. Meowstic (Female) and Wailmer
Next up is a female Meowstic, a Gen 6 Pokemon with different male and female forms, battling a Wailmer, which was first introduced in Gen 3. Lucario
We see Gen 4's Lucario battling in a large stadium. Tyranitar
Up against Lucario is Gen 2's Tyranitar, who gets hit pretty bad. Munchlax
At the end of the battle montage, we see Munchlax--a baby Pokemon from Gen 4 that evolves into Snorlax--standing with the female trainer in a living room. Gen 8 Starter: Scorbunny
The first new Pokemon we meet is the fire-type rabbit Scorbunny. Gen 8 Starter: Sobble
We're then introduced to the water-type lizard Sobble, who is shy and perfect. Gen 8 Starter: Grookey
The final Pokemon shown in the reveal trailer is the grass-type monkey Grookey, who rounds out the three Gen 8 starter Pokemon.
By Meg Downey on Feb 27, 2019 01:52 am Who's coming back to finish the fight?
The universe may have been literally cut in half thanks to Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, but there are still plenty of heroes in the MCU to continue the fight in Avengers: Endgame--at least, we certainly hope. From Captain Marvel's long awaited arrival to the small group of Snap-surviving Avengers, Endgame's roster of confirmed characters is composed of some of Marvel's most tenacious characters, which is a good thing considering what they're going up against. Besides the obvious familiar faces we've spotted in trailers and promotional images, we've also taken the time to gather up some of the most likely returns (yes, even characters who "died" have a chance to come back--this is a superhero story after all). Some may be more far fetched than others, but we're nothing if not full of hope. And anxiety--lots and lots of anxiety. Thankfully, the wait for Endgame is nearly over--April 26 is just around the corner--so take a moment to brush up on who's who in the massive cast. 1. Iron Man
In case it wasn't already exceedingly obvious from the first Endgame trailer's bleak narration, Tony Stark is definitely going to be in this movie. Of course, given how dire his situation seems to be, we can't say for sure just how long he's going to be around (sorry) or what his exact effect on the plot will be, but, well, he's here. For now. Stuck in space, being sad. We're definitely not panicking about it. Nope, not at all. 2. Captain America
From the narrator of trailer number one to the narrator of trailer number two, Steve Rogers is absolutely going to be in Endgame, resolutely not moving on from the horrors of the Avengers' defeat in Infinity War. Steve is admittedly in a less obviously bad situation than Tony, seeing that he's on Earth and not wasting away out in space, but we're just as nervous about his survival prospects. Look, if there's going to be a big heroic death by the end of this movie, it's pretty much a coin toss between Steve and Tony. 3. Black Widow
We've seen Nat in both trailers released so far, sporting a slightly updated take on her Infinity War look--though her blonde hair is showing some pretty major red roots. Natasha is absolutely going to be a major player for Endgame--and she's probably relatively safe, all things considered, at least with all the talk of her solo film still happening. 4. Thor
Beyond knowing that Thor is definitely going to be in Endgame in one capacity or another, we're not actually too certain what he's going to be doing--probably feeling guilty about not killing Thanos when he had the chance, if we had to guess. It's also important to remember that Thor does still have Stormbreaker, his new ax, which, in theory, still has the ability to summon the Bifrost and teleport him (and others) off the planet. 5. Hawkeye (er, Ronin)
Clint Barton is back after a prolonged Infinity War absence, this time as Ronin, rather than his traditional Hawkeye. We saw it in the first trailer, but we unfortunately don't know much else. What inspired him to change his look? What is he doing in Tokyo? Why wasn't he there when Thanos attacked Wakanda? 6. Hulk
The story of Hulk and Bruce Banner has been escalating in weirdness ever since Thor: Ragnarok, and it's just going to keep right on going for Endgame. We know Bruce survived the Snap and we've seen him in the trailers. But we've also got an interesting look at a new Hulk design and costume thanks to the official Endgame art released earlier this month. 7. Nebula
Next to Tony, Nebula was the only other person on Titan to survive the Snap and is currently with him on the Benatar, as we've seen in the second trailer. That's about as much as we know about what she's up to, though, so your guess is as good as ours. 8. Rocket
We know Rocket survived the Snap on Earth, and we know based on his brief appearance in the trailers that he's likely still there--unless he's found a way to get to some alien planet that still conveniently uses human-made lobster traps--but we don't have any idea what his plans could be. 9. Ant-Man
If you're confused about how Scott Lang managed to get out of his predicament at the end of Ant-Man & The Wasp, you're not alone. But his major feature in the first Endgame trailer assures us that he most definitely did. He's in this movie, and is probably going to play a key part in figuring out how to undo the Snap thanks to his Quantum Realm experience. We just don't know how yet. 10. War Machine
We know Rhodey survived the Snap, but we haven't seen much of him in the trailers just yet. He's definitely around, and he'll definitely be in the movie, but we have no idea what exactly he's up to or what his plans are with the rest of the team. 11. Thanos
You can't have a movie about defeating Thanos without, well, Thanos. We haven't actually seen him in any of the trailers yet, but rest assured that he's going to be around in one capacity or another, even if his Black Order didn't make it out of Infinity War at all. It'll be interesting to see how the Avengers take on a villain who has already gotten everything he wants and has no more maniacal plans to chase after. 12. Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers hasn't officially been confirmed for Endgame, but c'mon. Of course she's going to be in it. You don't get a post-credits stinger like the one we got from Infinity War without paying it off in a major way. Captain Marvel has been being built up as the key to beating Thanos and we can't wait to see how that pans out. 13. Okoye (We hope)
We know Okoye survived the snap when she watched T'Challa turn to dust before her eyes, but we have no idea what she's been doing since or what the current state of Wakanda may be. Chances are, as the general of the Dora Milaje, she's got her hands full trying to keep her country in one piece, so whether or not that's something that gets featured in Endgame is anyone's guess--we certainly hope it is, though. 14. Pepper Potts (Probably)
Pepper's role in Endgame is another interesting case. We don't technically know that she survived the Snap, but there's been a ton of speculation, and some dubious leaked set photos featuring Gwyneth Paltrow in what looks like an Iron Man style armor all her own, leading fans to guess she's going to be suiting up as Rescue, a comic book callback to Pepper's very own specially designed armor. 15. Spider-Man (Probably)
Look, we've all seen the trailers for Spider-Man: Far From Home. Conspiracy theories about alternate realities or new timelines notwithstanding, it's pretty likely that Peter Parker comes back to life and walks away from this one just fine. 16. Valkyrie (Maybe)
We're getting into the rumor territory here, but back when Infinity War and Endgame were shooting back to back, fans spotted Tessa Thompson filming in her Valkyrie regalia alongside Chris Hemsworth in Scotland. Since we didn't see these scenes in Infinity War, it's pretty safe to guess they're going to be showing up in Endgame--at least, we hope. There's also the chance that they may have just been cut. But how cool would it be to have Valkyrie come to Earth? 17. Bucky Barnes (Maybe)
There are plenty of rumors circulating about a potential Winter Soldier and Falcon show for Disney+, which is just one of the reasons we expect the decidedly dusted Bucky Barnes to show back up in Endgame. The other is a tease actor Sebastian Stan dropped prior to the release of Infinity War where he spoke about filming a scene with people like Michael Douglas, which definitely didn't happen in Infinity War--so we're hoping for Endgame. 18. Falcon (Maybe)
Poor dusted Sam Wilson is in the same situation as Bucky for this one--the rumors of a Disney+ show make his odds of returning pretty good, and we certainly hope he comes back by the end of Endgame, but we can't be certain yet. 19. Hank Pym (Maybe)
Thanks to Sebastian Stan's potential slip of the tongue, we know that Michael Douglas at least filmed a scene as Hank Pym during the Infinity War/Endgame shooting--but that's not a total confirmation just yet. 19. Janet Van Dyne (Maybe)
Stan's comment also specifically included Michelle Pfeiffer in the ensemble scene, which hopefully means we're looking at a return for the original wasp. 20. Hope Van Dyne (Maybe)
It'd be pretty hard to believe that Scott Lang returned from the Quantum Realm and then didn't immediately try and figure out a way to get Hope back--that, and she, Hank, and Jan all disappeared in the same place at the same time in the post-credits sequence of Ant-Man and the Wasp, so we're going to assume that if they're both back, she'll come back too. Hopefully. 21. Nick Fury (Maybe)
There's not a ton of evidence pointing to Fury's return after he was dusted during the Infinity War post credits scene, but we're going to hold out hope--if only because it seems likely that Carol would want to get her friend back after getting called to Earth from his cool 22. Shuri (Maybe)
Eagle eyed fans were able to spot Shuri listed as among the "missing" during the first Endgame trailer--but this doesn't necessarily mean she's been dusted. It's unlikely, but possible, that she's just caught in the chaos and still active in or around Wakanda. 23. Wanda (Hard maybe)
It'd be hard to name a character who had a more traumatic go of things in Infinity War than poor Wanda Maximoff, which only makes us want her to get a triumphant (and hopefully happy) return even more. This, coupled with the rumors of a Disney+ show about her and Vision, make for a possible Endgame appearance. 24. Vision (Harder maybe)
Like Wanda, Vision's life in Infinity War was pretty rough--but unlike Wanda, he actually "died" before the Snap, making his return even less likely. Still, that Disney+ show is supposed to be about both of them, so maybe he'll recover. Stranger things have happened. 25. Loki (Hardest maybe)
Loki is probably really dead--even more dead than Vision, honestly--but, hey, he's also apparently getting a Disney+ show, so who knows? We wouldn't bet on this return, but we'd definitely welcome it.

For many, The Haunting of Hill House was one of 2018's best new shows. The horror drama was an adaptation of Shirley Jackson's classic 1959 novel and across ten hours, delivered a story that was scary, dramatic, and moving in equal measure. It was written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who previous helmed the Stephen King adaptation Gerard's Game for the streaming giant, and featured a fantastic ensemble cast that included Timothy Hutton, Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas, and Kate Siegel. As well as serious scares, dazzling direction, and powerful acting, the show also had a definite ending. The story of the Crane family and their experiences with the haunted house of the title spanned more than 20 years and reached a powerful conclusion, closing the story in a highly satisfying way. As Flanagan said: "I think we tied up all of those threads exactly how they should be." But while the story of Hill House is over, there are plenty more haunted houses out there. Last week, Netflix confirmed that a second season--titled The Haunting of Bly Manor--will be released in 2020. This will be an entirely separate story that takes inspiration from another literary classic--Henry James's The Turn of the Screw. While specific details are, unsurprisingly, unknown, we do know a few things about this new show. So here's everything we know so far about The Haunting of Bly Manor... 1. What's Bly Manor?
Henry James's The Turn of the Screw was first published in 1898. It tells the story of a woman who is hired to look after two children in a country estate, where she starts seeing ghostly figures. In James's novella the house is simply called Bly, as opposed to Bly Manor--and don't expect that to be the only change. The book is less than 100 pages, and if the show is set to be a similar length to Hill House, a lot of new material will need to be added. The Turn of the Screw has been adapted several times before, most notably as the classic 1960 movie The Innocents, and a new film version is also due for release in January 2020. Titled The Turning, it stars Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049) and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), and is produced by Steven Spielberg. 2. Flanagan is back
Mike Flanagan has confirmed that he will return for The Haunting of Bly Manor. Over the past few years, he has emerged as one the best filmmakers working in horror; as well as Gerard's Game, he directed such movies as Hush, Oculus, and Ouija 2, all of which demonstrated his skill at combining scares with strong characters and genuine emotion. And fans won't have to wait until Bly Manor for his next project--his movie adaptation of Stephen King's Shining sequel Doctor Sleep is due for release in 2019. 3. What happens in the teaser?
Netflix released a short teaser to announce Bly Manor. There's no footage in there, but we do get lots of spooky, atmospheric sounds and a voice whispering a scary passage from James's novel: "The terrace and the whole place, the lawn and the garden beyond it, all I could see of the park, were empty with a great emptiness." 4. Hidden ghosts
One of the most discussed aspects of Hill House were the hidden ghosts. Flanagan and his vfx team placed spooky spectres in background of many of the scenes set in the house--some were fairly obvious, some required serious freeze-framing, but all had fans scouring every episode to spot these mysterious apparitions. Even though the location and characters are changing for the second season, Flanagan has confirmed that the hidden ghosts will be back. "We are already discussing how to up our hidden ghost game," he tweeted. 5. Who's getting haunted this time?
No cast has been announced for the new season as yet, but Flanagan has suggested that we are unlikely to see the return of any Season 1 cast members. "I don't really see a need to revisit those characters, even in cameos," he said. "I want to remember them the way we left them, and leave them to their lives." That said, Flanagan has used actors such as Siegel and Gugino in previous movies--so recasting them in new roles isn't out of the question. 6. When Can We Watch It?
So far, the only date that Netflix had given us is 2020. But given the scary subject matter, a release near Halloween seems likely, especially as Hill House also debuted in October. 7. Will there be a third season?
If Bly Manor is as popular and acclaimed as Hill House, a third season is very possible. There are plenty of other great horror novels featuring haunted houses that could be tackled, such as Hell House (by I Am Legend's Richard Matheson), Slade House (by Cloud Atlas author David Mitchell), and Michael McDowell's terrifying The Elementals. And after years of terrible sequels and rip-offs, that perennial favorite The Amityville Horror could definitely use a new version from some talented filmmakers.

There's another new trailer for Detective Pikachu, and like those that have come before it, this one is full of cartoon Pokemon rendered in realistic detail--and they're largely amazing, incredibly strange, and vaguely terrifying. Pikachu might be cute and fuzzy, but then there are others that are not so endearing--like Lickitung. The new Detective Pikachu trailer drops amid ahead of a bunch of other Pokemon-related happenings, honoring Pokemon's 23rd anniversary. Today is the start of Pokemon Go's Pokemon Day event, which stretches February 26-28, and will introduce shiny versions of Pidgey and Rattata to the game. There's also a Pokemon Direct on February 27 that looks set to bring news about upcoming Pokemon games. We've dug through the latest trailer to pick out all the new Pokemon hidden in Ryme City, and there are quite a few. Some are cute, some are weird, and some definitely seem like they'd be too dangerous to just let walk around your town. Check them out below, and let us know in the comments if you've spotted any we missed. You should also check out our rundown of all the Pokemon hidden in the first Detective Pikachu trailer, because there are a lot of them. Machamp
When not fighting people with his four Goro arms, Machamp's many limbs help make it a good crossing guard. Ludicolo
Ludicolo is a duck combined with a pineapple, and this one serves coffee, and should be the star of its own movie. Snorlax
Blocking roads as usual. Also check out the distant but still cute Pancham hiding in the background. Snubbull
The fluffy pink dog-like Pokemon Snubbull looks like a giant, potentially lethal plush toy. Cubone
Somebody summons Cubone from a Pokeball in this shot. Hopefully that means Pikachu will have to battle Cubone at some point--if not with his powers, at least with hilarious quips. Flareon
It looks like we'll even be seeing some Pokemon evolutions in Detective Pikachu. This shot appears to show an Eevee turning into a Flareon. There also are a few statues of Legendary Pokemon hiding in the background. Chimecho, Probably
It's tough to tell because of the focus, but we're reasonably certain those guys in the foreground here are Chimechos. Aipom
Between this shot and a later one of Aipoms escaping, these little monkey Pokemon seem to be absolutely terrifying--like Gremlins, or Critters. Golurk, Growlithe, And Arcanine
A bunch of Pokemon work with the cops, it seems. Big giant Golurks appear to be on door duty and some officers seem to have Growlithes in tow (as well as a Charmander). There's also an evolved version of Growlithe, Arcanine, in the corner near the RCPD building.
A ton of Pokemon show up in the fighting pit scene--so many that we're probably missing a few between this gallery and the last Pokemon-filled trailer breakdown we did. This time we spotted a Rattata in the bottom-left corner. There's also another Pancham hanging around being cute on the right, and a Charmander and a Squirtle back there somewhere, too. Gengar And Blastoise
It's a bit tough to make out in this trailer, but in the Pokemon fighting pit scene we've seen a couple times now, we'll see Pikachu fight a Charizard, as well as this Blastoise taking on several Gengars. Loudred
Loudred's speakers make it a pretty good Pokemon companion for DJs, and it seems they'll help call the matches at the Pokemon fight we've seen in several trailers. They may also become participants, if later shots are any indication. Mewtwo
It wouldn't be a Pokemon movie without a scary villainous Mewtwo blowing stuff up. Hopefully he has long monologues about being mistreated by society and wanting to do murders.
