WWE Extreme Rules Match Card And Predictions

By Mat Elfring on May 31, 2017 02:55 am

Things are about to get extreme when the Raw brand-exclusive event Extreme Rules comes to PPV and the WWE Network on Sunday, June 4. As of this writing, six matches are on the card, and because of the PPV's theme, many of these matches will have out-of-the-ordinary stipulations. Here is who is fighting and our predictions for Extreme Rules.

Rich Swann & Sasha Banks vs. Noam Dar & Alicia Fox (Mixed Tag Team Match)

Noam Dar has been in a romantic relationship with Alicia Fox, who has been in a rivalry with Sasha Banks, who is teaming up with Rich Swann for a mixed tag team match. Do you feel caught up now?

As far as storylines go, this is the most uninteresting match on the card. Yet again, it's one that heavily involved Fox being passed around as a love interest, which has seemingly been happening on 205 Live for the last six months. We're giving the win to Swann and Banks for no real reason other than we hope they dance after their win, so something exciting can happen.

Our Prediction: Swann & Banks win

Neville (c) vs. Austin Aries (Submission Match)

(For the Cruiserweight Championship)

The Neville/Aries storyline proves that 205 Live can do something interesting and worthwhile of a PPV. This is the third match between the two for the title, as Neville won the first battle, then got himself disqualified during the last encounter--a finish that left many fans with a bad taste in their mouths. Now, the two will fight once again, but the only way one of them can win is by submission.

This match has the potential to be a barn burner. These stars have put on two incredible matches at the past two Raw PPVs, stealing the show each time. Aries has proven he has what it takes to be a great champion, so we think this is his time to win, in the hope that the rivalry will continue.

Our Prediction: Aries wins

Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Bayley (Kendo Stick on a Pole Match)

(For the Raw Women's Championship)

The women's division has primarily focused on champion Alexa Bliss and former champion Bayley. The two are in the first ever women's "kendo stick on a pole match." What is that? Well, it's a normal match, which you have to win by pinfall or submission, but there's the addition of a kendo stick, which--you guessed it--is on a pole.

Everything about this feels like it comes out of late-2000 WCW. The stipulation is silly, and this would have been much better if it was a "no DQ" match. Even the build-up to the match was weak, especially the "This Is Your Life" segment from Raw where we learned Bayley's ex-boyfriend--the creatively named Phil Johnson--almost kissed her father. These two stars are much better that the story they were given. We're hoping the match makes up for all of this, and that Bliss comes out on top.

Our Prediction: Bliss wins

Dean Ambrose (c) vs. The Miz

(For the Intercontinental Championship)

The Dean Ambrose/Miz rivalry goes back to when they were both on Smackdown, fighting for the IC title. Once again, said title will be on the line at Extreme Rules, but there is a stipulation: if Ambrose is disqualified, he will lose the title. Half of the "champion's advantage" is gone.

The Miz is the highlight of the mid-card, as is this rivalry. While he's a character that doesn't seem to give up, in order to continue this storyline going, the Miz needs a win and the title. Most importantly, it will be interesting to see how the Miz cheats his way into winning the title.

Our Prediction: The Miz wins

The Hardy Boyz (c) vs. Cesaro & Sheamus (Steel Cage Match)

(For the Raw Tag Team Championship)

If the Hardy Boyz want to keep their titles, they'll have to delete their competition at Extreme Rules--Cesaro and Sheamus--in a steel cage match. This match is the perfect fit for the PPV, as the Hardy Boyz are known for their extreme matches in the past. However, you can't completely count out Cesaro and Sheamus, who are not only former champions but bruisers in the ring, capable of dishing out some brutal beatdowns.

Much like Aries/Neville, this has the potential to be an incredible match. While the Hardys are tearing it up right now, there is a really good chance at a title change here, and we're giving the win to Cesaro and Sheamus. Hopefully, the loss will "break" the Hardys. We would love to see Broken Matt and Brother Nero on Raw.

Our Prediction: Cesaro & Sheamus win

Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Samoa Joe (Extreme Rules Match)

(Winner becomes No. 1 Contender for the Universal Title)

Finally, Raw's top superstars will all be competing against each other in a five-way Extreme Rules match. The winner of the match will face the very absent champion, Brock Lesnar, in the future. The first person to get a pin or submission wins. Interestingly enough, this is the only Extreme Rules match on the card.

It seems like this match was made for Rollins, Reigns, or Balor to win. However, because Balor--who was the first Universal Champion--never got a rematch for a title he never lost, we think he is going to come out on top. There is a lot of potential for this to be a great match, and it seems like it's really going to showcase Balor's talents, which should result with him winning.

Our Prediction: Balor wins

HTC Vive Deluxe Audio Strap Pictures And Impressions

By Jimmy Thang on May 30, 2017 06:30 pm

The HTC Vive is arguably the best VR headset, but it may also be the most uncomfortable. And unlike the Oculus Rift, the Vive doesn't come with integrated headphones. HTC is attempting to solve both the ergonomic and audio issues with its Deluxe Audio Strap. We're going to unbox it and give you our impressions of the $99.99 add-on.

The Deluxe Audio Strap sits atop a plastic stand within the box.

The box comes with some user guide documentation and an optional velcro strap that allows you to tie the cable down to the back of the headset.

This is the back of the strap. Like the PSVR headset, it has a dial that allows you to tighten the head-mounted display (HMD).

The inside of the strap showcases the foam padding. You can also see the integrated headphones on the sides.

The shell of the strap is comprised mostly of plastic.

The strap comes with an audio jack that plugs into the HMD's auxiliary port.

The ear cups feature an open-ear design, so there isn't a lot of noise cancellation. They also feature a leather-like material that makes them pretty soft and comfortable against the ears. Overall, the audio isn't very bass heavy and features fairly neutral levels. They likely won't impress audiophiles, but they are super convenient and are a very welcome addition.

You can also detach the ear cups if you prefer to use your own headphones.

Here is a close-up of one of the buckles, which connects to the HMD.

Like the Oculus Rift, you can swivel the position of the ear cups.

You can also raise and lower the ear cups.

The HTC Vive logo is etched onto the back of the dial.

In contrast, this is the old strap.

The old stock strap is on the left, and the Deluxe Audio Strap is on the right.

To attach the Deluxe Audio Strap, you need to remove the stock strap and then press in on the sides of the buckles to connect it in place.

This is what it looks like once the buckles are locked into place.

The Deluxe Audio Strap also has a clip, which allows you to tuck your Vive's cables.

Here's what the clip looks like from the inside.

Here's what the Vive looks like with the new Deluxe Audio Strap attached.

From this angle, you can see how the audio jack plugs into the included auxiliary port.

You can use the included velcro strap to tie the cable down to the back of the headset.

This is what the new strap looks like from the back when you wear it. Turning the dial clockwise tightens the headset.

Overall, the Deluxe Audio Strap is much more comfortable than the stock version. While it's still pretty front-heavy and relatively heavy overall at one pound, 11 ounces, the weight distribution feels a bit more balanced from the front to the back. While we still think PSVR is the most comfortable VR headset, the Deluxe Audio Strap significantly improves ergonomics and puts it on par with the Oculus Rift. In short, the Deluxe Audio Strap makes it hard to go back to the default strap.
