Star Wars: Uprising, the upcoming mobile game that will bridge that gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, has gotten its first gameplay trailer.
The new RPG was announced early last month, but was accompanied only by a CG trailer and a small screenshot that resembled a Diablo-style action game. Based on today's new gameplay video, that appears to be a somewhat fair comparison. While the details are still sparse, it does look to be an isometric action game where you'll be able to outfit your character with a variety of weapons (including blasters and melee weapons) and items.
Despite being an iOS and Android game, Uprising offers real-time cooperative play for what appears to be up to at least three players.
Uprising "introduce[s] a new chapter of the Star Wars universe that will illuminate dramatic events in the Anoat Sector, inclusive of Hoth and Cloud City, following the Battle of Endor and the death of the Emperor." It's in the works at Kabam, a mobile studio also responsible for games based on franchises like The Hobbit and The Godfather.
A specific release date for Uprising has still not been announced; we only know it's coming in September. You can pre-register to play on the official website, which will entitle you to in-game rewards like a Stormtrooper helmet upon release.
Following reports of issues with specific games, Sony's official PSN status page has been updated to reflect today's problems. As of this writing, two specific areas of PSN on PS4 are impacted: gaming/social and the PlayStation Store.
In the case of the former, you may have issues launching or playing certain games. We've seen complaints of this related to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Driveclub, and the newly launched Rocket League, though other games may be affected as well.
As for the PlayStation Store, Sony lists only the PS4 as being affected. As today is a Tuesday, the PlayStation Store is--barring any continued issues--set to get its weekly content update today, which will bring with it the new PlayStation Plus games for July.
The service alerts were published at 10:30 AM PDT, though complaints seem to have been circulating all morning. Last week, the problems were more widespread, impacting more systems and services. It's unclear what's causing today's problems, but Sony has said previously that the service is attacked daily.
In a tweet this morning, Sony said, "Engineers are investigating issues with the PSN connectivity; thanks for your patience."
We'll keep this story updated with the latest on PSN's status.
Responding to "immense popular demand," Capcom has created a wearable Mega Man helmet that will let you become the Blue Bomber himself. Companies other than Capcom have made replica Mega Man helmets before, but this is the first full-size official headgear based on the iconic gaming franchise.
It's made of "high quality" ABS plastic, featuring a polish finish and authentic proportions. It also has working LED lights. Getting your head into the helmet should be made easier through its clamshell hinge that allows the front and back half to open. The inside of the helmet is outfitted with soft padding.
The Mega Man helmet will be on display at San Diego Comic-Con this week. We don't know what kind of batteries it takes, and It's not yet available for sale. But Capcom encourages eager shoppers to keep an eye on its website for preorder information. Pricing was not announced, but the helmet certainly doesn't sound cheap.
An enhanced version of the reimagined Gauntlet released for PCs last year is coming to the PlayStation 4 this summer, developer Arrowhead Game Studios announced today.
Known as Gauntlet: Slayer Edition, this sounds as if it's still essentially the same game as what came out last year: a modern take on Gauntlet, the 1985 arcade classic. It's an action-RPG--a "dungeon brawler," as Arrowhead puts it--where you play as one of four classes while teaming up with friends locally or online.
We already knew that Arrowhead had plans to improve upon last year's game with a free update that would more closely bring it in line with the developer's vision. Game director Emil Englund offers some details about this in a note on Arrowhead's website today, saying Slayer Edition will be "a stronger, cooler, and more slayer-y version of the one we released on the PC. We've been shaping up a lot of the assets in the game, both characters and environments, as well as improving on the game mechanics.
"This time around, we wanted to explore the heroes and their abilities more in-depth giving them a bigger toolset for players to explore, as well as a new game mode in which to exercise their rights as self-proclaimed monster slayers."
The equipment you choose to use is now more important than before, and as such, all four players can now choose to alter their loadout at the same time. Englund also promised great variation in monster encounters and the visuals of the environments.
More details on the improvements--which will be included in the PS4 version from launch and are coming to the PC version in a free update--will be revealed over the next few weeks.
Slayer Edition is slated for launch as a digital game on PS4 in August for $20. Preordering gets you some bonus items (Mordok's Screaming Hammer and Reaper's Visage Helm for the Warrior). Once today's PlayStation Store update goes live, you'll be able to do so here.
Gauntlet marks Arrowhead's second PS4 game this year following Helldivers.
Bungie has announced a new Destiny emblem that will be given only to the most dedicated players.
Players who achieve all of Destiny's "Moments of Triumph" before September 9, 2015 (the game's first birthday) will receive the emblem you see below. After that date, the emblem will be unattainable.
There are ten Moments of Triumph, some of which you'll need Destiny's expansions to unlock. You can see all ten of the challenges below, with descriptions courtesy of Bungie.
Crucible Gladiator -- Win 100 Crucible matches
Chest Hunter -- Find all golden chests
Public Servant -- Complete 50 Public Events
Apprentice of Light -- Achieve maximum character level
Light of the Guardian -- Defeat the dark heart of the Black Garden
Light in the Dark -- Prevent the summoning of Crota's Soul
Light of the Reef -- Capture Skolas in the Vex Citadel
Bane of Skolas -- Defeat Prison of Elders on Hard Difficulty
Bane of Atheon -- Defeat Atheon on Hard Difficulty
Bane of Crota -- Defeat Crota on Hard Difficulty
You can track your progress against these goals through this special Bungie.net page. If you complete all challenges by September 9, you'll receive the emblem when The Taken King launches on September 15.
How close are you to unlocking the emblem? Let us know in the comments below.
This special Destiny emblem was just one of the announcements Bungie made today, July 7, which the developer celebrates annually as Bungie Day. Bungie announced a special Destiny year one art contest and added new avatars to the Bungie.net forums. In addition, the developer has launched a new website called The Armory, which players can use to select an ideal loadout before heading into battle.
In addition, it may not come as much of a surprise, but Bungie ended its Bungie Day blog post today by proclaiming that it has "more adventures in store for Destiny in the months and years to come." You can expect Bungie to continue to support Destiny for a long time, considering Bungie signed a ten-year publishing deal with Activision back in 2010.
Coinciding with the release of Destiny's third expansion, The Taken King, Sony will release a special Destiny-branded PS4 system bundle in September.
The bundle includes a white system adorned with a galaxy map, a Guardian's crest, and the Destiny logo on the top. The console is equipped with the standard 500 GB hard drive, rather than the 1 TB drive that Sony is bringing to Europe.
We're guessing the white controller the system comes with won't have its face buttons and d-pad swapped, as in the picture below. Check out more photos (without that gaffe) in our gallery.
In addition to the system, the bundle includes Destiny: The Taken King's Legendary Edition, the version of the game that consists of all content available to date. That includes the base game and all three expansions, as well as some digital bonuses, like armor shaders and emotes. Keep in mind this is not the same as the Collector's Edition of The Taken King, which also comes with some physical items.
The Taken King is a major expansion (hence its $40 price tag), with Bungie describing it as "more than DLC--it's a game." The developer recently outlined its contents, which includes everything from new story missions to new Crucible multiplayer maps. Players on PlayStation systems will also get exclusive content (that will come to Xbox later), such as an additional Strike mission and multiplayer map.
A price for the bundle was not announced, but we do know it'll be out on the same day as The Taken King: September 15.
With Fallout 4 moving its setting to a post-apocalyptic Boston, Massachusetts, it's expected that the game's plot will incorporate some of the city's most famous landmarks. In the trailers, we've seen footage of the USS Constitution, the Paul Revere Monument, the Bunker Hill Monument, and Fenway Park. But one landmark we haven't seen yet is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, known simply in the Fallout universe as "The Institute".
The Institute has become a highly secretive organisation since the bombs fell, but it has been referenced a couple of times in prior Fallout games. By way of his obituary, it is revealed that Mr House, the primary antagonist of Fallout: New Vegas, once studied at The Institute. But the more significant reference comes in the form of a Fallout 3 quest called "The Replicated Man".
The quest begins when you encounter a character named Dr. Zimmer. He is employed by The Institute, and is searching the Capitol Wasteland for an android, Harkness, that has escaped from his employers. Part of The Institute's secrecy concerns the highly advanced technology it houses; technology advanced enough to create androids like Harkness which are almost indistinguishable from humans. These androids are used as slaves by The Institute, but some of them develop sentience of their own, and subsequently desire to escape their life of servitude. If they do escape, the androids are hunted down by a group of law enforcement personnel known as the Synth Retention Bureau.
The whole quest is an homage to Blade Runner, in which "replicants"-- androids also virtually indistinguishable from humans--are hunted down and killed by a police force specifically trained to do so. As in Blade Runner, some of the members of The Institute's Synth Retention Bureau are androids themselves.
In opposition to The Institute and the Synth Retention Bureau is an underground movement calling itself The Railroad. This is a group of people who assist androids in escaping slavery and in finding a new life--sometimes going so far as to give them a complete facial reconstruction and erasing their memory to adjust to their new lives. In The Replicated Man quest, you must decide to side with either The Railroad or the Synth Retention Bureau by determining whether Harkness remains free, or turning him over to Dr. Zimmer.
It's highly likely that The Institute, The Railroad, and the conflict between androids and humans, will play a major part in Fallout 4's plot, given that we'll actually be exploring Boston. But how these factions' goals and objectives will play into those of the Brotherhood of Steel and Boston's other surviving groups remains to be seen.
Mighty No. 9, the Mega Man-style platformer from Keiji Inafune, is expanding into new territory.
Legendary Digital Media, the offshoot of Godzilla and Warcraft film company Legendary Pictures, will develop a Mighty No. 9 live-action movie with Dead Rising: Watchtower company Contradiction Films. Fans may also be happy to learn that Inafune's own Comcept Inc. is working alongside both film companies.
Inafune also created the Dead Rising game universe, so--barring any setbacks--Mighty No. 9 will become his second project to be spun into a movie.
"This collaboration will give our creation the ability to reach people all over the world," Inafune said of the film deal. "Thanks to all of your support, we have fulfilled another one of our dreams."
The Mighty No. 9 movie, like Dead Rising: Watchtower, will skip a theatrical release. Instead, it is being produced exclusively for digital platforms, though these were not named outright. Watchtower was first released through Sony's streaming service Crackle before coming to video-on-demand sites.
Mighty No. 9, which was funded through Kickstarter, follows the story of a robot named Beck. There was no mention today of an actor to play that role, or any others for the upcoming movie.
GameSpot recently spoke with Inafune about Mighty No. 9, crowdfunding, and the Japanese game development scene. You can read our full interview here.
Ubisoft has announced Rayman Adventures, an all-new platformer coming soon to smartphones and tablets, not console.
Adventures sees players venturing into an enchanted forest to reclaim ancient eggs that sustain the life of a "sacred tree." These eggs were stolen by some jerk, of course.
You'll visit haunted medieval castles along with the mythical worlds of Olympus. Rayman is the star of the game, but he's joined by Barbara, his Viking companion.
The game's announcement trailer shows off some very gorgeous visuals that don't look all that different from the most recent console games, Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.
Adventures is not the first Rayman game for mobile devices. Ubisoft previously released two endless runners based on the franchise: Rayman Jungle Run and Rayman Fiesta Run.
Ubisoft did not announce specific platforms for Adventures, but iOS and Android are safe bets. We also don't know yet if Adventures is a free-to-play or paid game. We'll have more information on the game as it becomes available.
Capcom has detailed the upcoming Street Fighter V beta, which is set to begin on July 23 at 6 PM PT on PlayStation 4.
According to Capcom community manager Peter Rosas, the game will have a total of six characters to play, but will launch initially with four, with Cammy and Birdie joining later.
"To set expectations clearly, the beta will roll out with four characters playable immediately, with Birdie and Cammy becoming playable on Saturday, July 25," said Rosas.
"The reason for their delayed release is that in addition to testing out the net code, we're also testing out our new content delivery system."
The beta will not feature a local versus mode during the beta as the "primary purpose of the beta is to test the online functionality."
The game will boot directly into the character select screen, before they are moved into training mode while an opponent is found. Once a challenger is selected, the game moves into the versus screen and then into the match.
"While players are awaiting their match, they'll be training in the Grid," Rosas explained, talking about the stages available in the beta. "Versus matches will take place in either the Bustling Side Street (China), Terminal Station (London), or in the brand new stage the Forgotten Waterfall."
"Each of the stages has been inspired by various locales throughout the world with the Forgotten Waterfall's inspiration being directly pulled from New Zealand."
Capcom has said it intends for the beta to be the "largest and most ambitious online beta program in franchise history." The beta be "essential to collect feedback and to ensure that Street Fighter V is the best iteration yet."
The beta is scheduled to last for five day. Although Street Fighter V is also being released on PC--with support for cross-platform play--Capcom has not yet announced plans for a PC beta.
North Americans can get access to the beta by pre-ordering on PSN, Best Buy, Amazon, or GameStop. European PlayStation Network users can use the Street Fighter V Beta Enroll to sign up.
Developer Studio Wildcard on Tuesday announced that the game has now sold more than 1 million copies and is getting official modding support on PC by way of a new partnership with Epic Games.
If you're one of million people who have already bought Ark, you can follow this tutorial to get started with the game's new Unreal Engine 4 mod tools.
Basically, the Ark mod tools represent a simplified version of the Unreal Engine 4 editor that has been specifically tailored around creating mods and maps. Users don't get full access to Ark's C++ code, but the mod editor does have editable source art, maps, and classes. Modders can also change game logic, build new items and weapons, and modify AI behavior.
An in-development version of Ark is available now through Steam Early Access, while the full release is slated for June 2016 across not only PC, but also PlayStation 4 (with Morpheus support) and Xbox One.
To dive deeper into the subject of Ark's new Unreal modding tools and the overall response to the game so far, we spoke with Epic Games co-founder Tim Sweeney and Studio Wildcard creative director Jesse Rapczak. You can see our full conversion below. It touches on subjects such as PC mods coming to console, how Jurassic World may have helped boost sales, and why the game's community-focused approach is so important.
Mods are supported in different ways by different developers for different games; how are they going to work for Ark?
Jesse Rapczak: We want mod creators and players alike to have easy access to the tools and creations coming from them. You'll be able to find and download mod content for Ark through Steam Workshop and the Unreal Engine community. When connecting to a server that is running a mod, Ark will automatically download and install it for you if you like. This makes everything really fluid and integrated into the Ark experience, removing as many barriers as possible.
Can you walk me through the Ark mod editor itself, Tim; how will this work?
Tim Sweeney: Once you've purchased Ark: Survival Evolved on Steam Early Access, just go here for directions on signing up and installing the Ark mod tools.
Rapczak: The ARK Development Kit wields the full power of Unreal Engine 4, tuned for creating content specifically going in to Ark. The build and upload tools are fully integrated into the editor and creators can deploy their mod in just a few clicks.
You're launching today with the first community-made mods. Surely someone is going to make a Jurassic Park mod, you'd have to imagine...
Rapczak: We have already seen a few entirely new maps for the game, one of which rivals the size of our actual game map and includes things like ruins and a completely unique layout. Another mod introduces a new game mode that serves as a simple example for changing the rules of the game. So far we don't have any mods directly related to any top-selling entertainment franchises, but I'm over 9000% sure that will change extremely soon.
Ark is obviously developed using the Unreal Engine; but how did this extended relationship for a mod editor come about between Epic and Wildcard?
Rapczak: Wildcard is a new studio, but collectively we have been in the industry using Unreal technology for a long time. We have good friends at Epic and our team members love working together, especially when our goals are aligned around something like the mod community. The timing is right, and because Ark has been so successful and modding is a top priority for us, it's the perfect partnership for both our companies to put the power of creativity in the hands of new and experienced modders alike.
Sweeney: For years, we've been working to build Unreal Engine 4 as an easy-to-use tool to power a new generation of moddable games. And with Ark, Studio Wildcard built an amazing, highly moddable game more quickly than we'd imagined anybody doing. So, after years of foundation-building, this partnership came together quickly over the past few weeks.
Click through the images below to see full-size versions
Tim and Jesse, what do you think the introduction of this new mod editor means for Ark overall? What kind of effect do you think it will have on the game itself?
Sweeney: With open-world environment and dinosaur combat, there's something for everyone who has a unique design idea. I expect the game will rapidly evolve in directions beyond what Studio Wildcard, or any company of any size, could possibly undertake alone. This is a perfect game to unleash the mod community's creativity.
Rapczak: I firmly believe there is nothing that will increase the life and ultimate success of a game like giving it to over to the community to build on. This is why Minecraft and Skyrim are so successful and why GTA V has new life on PC. It's the reason games like Dota and Counter-Strike exist, and I would love nothing more than an entirely new franchise to come out of the Ark Dev Kit. I think it means more people will come to play the core game and stick around for all the exciting mod content… and vice versa.
Mods are often a way for a game community to really blossom – People follow a game to see its mods, specific mod makers make a name for themselves, etc.; do you foresee something similar happening here with Ark?
Tim Sweeney: Absolutely. This is an opportunity to turn your creative ideas into reality, and learn the art of game development as you go. And rather than starting from scratch, trying to build a standalone game all by yourself, you're starting with an awesome game, environment, and content base.
You can start with minor tweaks, and grow from there. In five years, I bet you will be able to look around the game industry, and find professional developers who got their start in Ark modding.
Rapczak: Definitely. Ark is a deep sandbox game with the power and flexibility of Unreal Engine 4 behind it. It is only a matter of time.
Mods also open a game up to, well, basically anything that can be imagined. Is that a little unsettling; that is, losing some of your sense of authorship over the game in a way, Jesse?
"Ark is more than a game, it's a platform for the next generation of game developers to showcase their talents." -- Rapczak
Rapczak: Not at all. Please take Ark and make an entirely new game with it! Replace all the dinosaurs with deadly humanoid future robots and the trees and mountains with bombed-out skyscrapers. Create a map in the asteroid belt and fill it with colonies of alien invaders. Make your ultimate adventure-survival-RPG or fast-paced arena combat with dinosaurs as vehicles. I can't wait to see and play what people come up with. Ark is more than a game, it's a platform for the next generation of game developers to showcase their talents.
Paid mods on Steam became a hot-button issue with Skyrim earlier this year. What's your take on that? Do you think we'll see such a system sometime down the road?
Rapczak: I'm sure we will, especially as this next generation of mod makers really starts creating some amazing products with hours and hours of fun. A lot of gamers would probably support their favorite mods by purchasing them if it meant the mod could even exist at all. For now, though, Ark mods will be free for everyone. The more people playing each mod, the better.
Sweeney: Looking at the larger picture, mods have played a fundamental role in the game industry. Many leading games originated as free mods, and then evolved into something bigger, for example Counter Strike as a Half-Life mod, and Dota as a Warcraft mod.
Epic's view is that indies and mod developers who work hard and do great work deserve a path to becoming full-time pros, and that path shouldn't require abandoning one's work and starting over. If we look past the muddled attempt to commercialize Skyrim modding, I see opportunity to build a mod ecosystem that starts with free mods while allowing modders a path to make a living, and to build experiences of the scale and quality that, beyond a certain point, require funding.
Mods on PC are fairly commonplace, but Fallout 4 is doing some new things on console in that space; is there any chance we'll see PC mods make it to the console version of Ark some day?
Rapczak: We absolutely want to support mods on console and will be aggressively looking into making it happen.
Speaking of which, how are the console versions of Ark shaping up right now?
Jesse Rapczak: Great! Unreal Engine really helps us with multiplatform development and Early Access on PC is informing our decisions for Ark's console releases.
"Mods have played a fundamental role in the game industry" -- Sweeney
One million sales in 30 days is pretty incredible; what's your reaction to that, Jesse? And do you think Jurassic World's huge theatrical release had anything to do with it?
Rapczak: It's unbelievably exciting and definitely validating. Ark's subject-matter, game design, and release timing are all intentional decisions made late last year and it feels good to know after all the long hours and hard work that we got it more "right" than we could have ever hoped for.
You're taking a more community-focused approach with Ark. Why is this so important to you?
Jesse Rapczak: The community is the reason the game has been sitting at number one on Steam since we launched, even through the Summer Sale, and why it's still there today. You don't have this kind of success by just being a good game or even a "great" game. It's the streamers and the YouTubers and the role players and the meme-creators doing new things with the game.
It's the fans who respond to their friends "I'm playing Ark," when asked what they are doing this weekend, because we just implemented a feature or creature they have been clamoring for. One of our big goals is to be an example of how PC Early Access and similar development programs can hugely benefit players and development teams alike. Expect to see our team working hard with the community to iterate, optimize, and polish the core game to hit our release date next year.
What else should people know about Ark's modding tools?
Rapczak: We can't wait to see your creations and our team is eager to help. Hop on the Ark modding forum at to let us know what you've got cooking!
Sweeney: The Ark modding tools are the complete Unreal Engine 4 tools. They're more polished, approachable, and easy to use than ever before. And, it's easy to get started, with a wealth of video tutorials and documentation.
Have an Xbox and looking for a deal? Today is your lucky day, as Microsoft has announced not only this week's new Deals With Gold offers, but today also marks the first day of the annual Ultimate Game Sale.
Check out a breakdown of this week's Deals With Gold and Ultimate Game Sale offers below. All deals are good through July 13 and require an Xbox Live Gold subscription except where otherwise noted.
Sony has confirmed the 1TB Ultimate Player Edition of the PlayStation 4 will be available in the UK from July 15, priced at £349.99.
For a limited time only, and at participating retailers, this model of the console will also be bundled with PlayStation TV, which allows users to stream content from the console to a second screen.
Sony first announced the 1TB model in June, when it said the model will allow owners to "download more of the games you love to your PS4, extend your play with more great add-on content and save, and share even more of your best gaming highlights."
This version of the console is a new quieter and more power-efficient model than previous models Sony has released. A PS4 hardware teardown has revealed model CUH-12000 features a smaller motherboard with a new GDDR5 memory configuration.
Other changes introduced in the new PS4 model include a new Blu-ray drive design, a new HDMI controller, and a new power supply, which is 80g lighter than the previous one and has a lower energy output.
It also seems that Sony has reduced the amount of noise the PS4's fan makes, though this has yet to be confirmed. For a more in-depth list of the changes, take a look at the site's breakdown using the link above.
It's "too early" to announce a price point for the PlayStation 4 virtual reality headset Project Morpheus. That's according to PlayStation Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, who explained his rationale for holding back the pricing announcement in a new interview with GamesIndustry International.
"We are talking about launching next year so typically we don't talk about pricing one year ahead of time," he started off. "I think we announced the price of PS4 at E3 the year of the launch so that's five months before the launch. So it's too early.
"It's not like we are waiting for Oculus to announce their price," he added. "We still have work to do to know exactly the cost of goods and so on."
Though Sony hasn't announced specifics about Morpheus pricing, the company said previously that it is aiming to offer the headset for "as low as possibly can be done."
Morpheus is set to launch in the first half of 2016, which means it will be available before July next year.
"When we spend more than two minutes on anything other than core gamers games, [people] hate it," Yoshida explained, going on to stress that the hardware and software for Morpheus remains on schedule.
What do you think the Morpheus price point should be? Let us know in the comments below.
Sega CEO Hajime Satomi has said he believes the company betrayed the trust fans put in it over the last few years, and added it is now aiming to improving the quality of its games in hopes of re-establishing itself as a valuable brand.
Speaking in an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, which has been translated by Siliconera, Satomi said he has been discussing strategies to improve the quality of its games with employees.
"I've been talking to employees about how [Sega] should start putting serious consideration into quality from this point on," he said. "Particularly in North America and Europe, where it's always been more of a focus on schedules."
"I believe that if we can't maintain quality, it would be better to not release anything at all."
Continuing, Satomi said he feels the company did its best to build strong connections with fans of Sega, but admitted that the games it released may have betrayed that faith.
"We did our best to build a relationship of mutual trust with older fans of Sega but, looking back, there have been some titles that have partially betrayed that [trust] in the past 10 years," he said.
"Sega in the 90s was known for its brand, but after that, we've lost trust, and we're left with nothing but reputation ... We'd like to win back the trust and become a brand once again."
Looking forward, the exec said Sega is planning to "announce something for home consoles at Tokyo Game Show."
In September 2013, Sega acquired bankrupted publisher Index Corporation, parent company of Persona 4 developer Atlus. A year later, Index Corporation was separated from Atlus.
The studio was tasked with continuing it game projects, one of which is Persona 5, with a team of 121 employees. Index's 166 employees, meanwhile, would focus on distribution, systems development, and advertisements.
Sega seemed to be transitioning away from console games and toward the PC and mobile markets, having invested in three Western developers, the most notable of which is Boston-based firm Demiurge Studios.
Demiurge, which was bought outright by Sega, worked Harmonix, Gearbox, Irrational, and BioWare. The studio contributed to multiple Rock Band track packs, built the PC edition of Mass Effect, assisted with art design on the original BioShock, and worked on the ultimately canceledWii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Its most recent release was mobile game Marvel Puzzle Quest, which it continues to support.
[Update]Sony has confirmed the PlayStation 4 version of Journey will be released on July 21. The re-release will support cross buy, which means those that purchased it already for PlayStation 3 will be able to download the PS4 version for free.[update ends].
Last August, developer thatgamecompany announced that it was bringing its PlayStation 3-exclusive game Journey to the PlayStation 4. Now, the game's PS4 release date has been apparently leaked as July 21.
Found in the PlayStation E3 Experience guide on the PlayStation Docs website, the game page for Journey shows the date as coming later this month. The guide breaks down the different games appearing at E3, and it looks like the release date for Journey was probably published by mistake.
Microsoft will host daily gaming tournaments and some celebrities will stop by, Microsoft said. What's more, Microsoft will reveal a new Halo 5: Guardians Warzone mode map during the event through a 6' x 6' map built by Mega Bloks.
Also during Comic-Con week at the Xbox Lounge, Microsoft will host a "real" Halo 5 tournament inspired by the game's Breakout multiplayer arena mode. Teams of players wielding BOOMco's Halo-inspired blaster toys can duke it out in the "Breakout Arena."
The Xbox Lounge will be open Thursday through Saturday from 11 AM - 8 PM, and Sunday, July 12, from 10 AM - 5 PM.
If you're attending Comic-Con itself, you can visit Microsoft's Xbox booth on the show floor to try out Halo 5's new, massive-scale Warzone mode. GameSpot got to try Warzone at E3, but Comic-Con marks the mode's first public appearance.
In addition, Microsoft is hosting a handful of panels at Comic-Con for Xbox games. On Thursday, July 9 at 10:30 AM, you can hear directly from Rare developers about the upcoming Xbox One bundle Rare Replay in a panel called "A Rare Chit Chat: Past and Future."
Later that day at 4:15 PM, Microsoft will hold a panel called "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition: The Art of Improving on an Xbox Classic." Developer The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson and other designers will be on hand to talk about the upcoming game, which launches for Xbox One in August.
Then on Friday, July 10 starting at 10:15, Microsoft will host a Halo 5 panel that will dive into the "mysteries surrounding the Master Chief." Other Microsoft-led panels at Comic-Con include presentations about the Fable and Tomb Raider franchises.
It is unclear if any of these panels and events will be streamed live. But GameSpot will have an editorial team on the ground, bringing you the big Comic-Con gaming news as it happens.
Check out this Xbox Wire post for a full rundown of Microsoft's Comic-Con events.
Reddit CEO Ellen Pao has apologized for the drama of recent days and pledged to take "concrete steps" to improve communication and foster a better overall experience for moderators of the hugely popular site.
"We screwed up," Pao wrote in her statement. "Not just on July 2, but also over the past several years. We haven't communicated well, and we have surprised moderators and the community with big changes. We have apologized and made promises to you, the moderators and the community, over many years, but time and again, we haven't delivered on them. When you've had feedback or requests, we haven't always been responsive. The mods and the community have lost trust in me and in us, the administrators of reddit."
"Today, we acknowledge this long history of mistakes," she added. "We are grateful for all you do for reddit, and the buck stops with me."
Pao explained that the Reddit management team will take three "concrete" steps to do better in the future. First, she pledged that Reddit will actually improve its moderator tools, "not just promise improvements."
Second, she said Reddit has created a new position called Moderator Advocate. This person, u/krispykrackers, will act as the liason between moderators and the Reddit management team. "We're also going to figure out the best way for more administrators, including myself, to talk more often with the whole community," Pao explained.
And third, Pao said Reddit plans to allow moderators to default to the old version of search "to support your existing moderation workflows." A list of instructions for setting old search as the default are available here.
"I know these are just words, and it may be hard for you to believe us. I don't have all the answers, and it will take time for us to deliver concrete results," Pao said at the end of her statement. "I mean it when I say we screwed up, and we want to have a meaningful ongoing discussion. I know we've drifted out of touch with the community as we've grown and added more people, and we want to connect more. I and the team are committed to talking more often with the community, starting now."
Last week, popular subreddit pages, such as r/Gaming, r/IAmA, r/funny, r/books, r/science, r/music, and r/history, were taken private by their moderators in a deliberate message of solidarity to the site's management. Game-specific subreddits, such as those for Fallout 4, Destiny, and Grand Theft Auto V, were also affected by the blackout.
At the heart of the issue was the dismissal of the employee u/chooter, who was known internally as Victoria Taylor, without explanation. Among other things, she coordinated Reddit's hugely popular Ask Me Anything (AMA) ongoing feature. As part of this series, celebrities, politicians, and other pop culture figures took questions directly from fans. Barack Obama and a man with two penises were among the participants.
McIlroy shared the news on Instagram, writing that he suffered a "total rupture" of the left ankle ligament and associated joint capsule during a pick-up soccer match with friends over the weekend.
The 26-year-old, who has won three out of golf's four majors, says he has already started rehab and is "working hard" to get back on the course "as soon as I can."
But his status for The Open next week at St. Andrews is in question. Experts say recovery time for such an injury depends on the severity of the rupture, which McIlroy did not specify in his Instagram post. A spokesperson told the Washington Postthat there is a 10 percent chance that McIlroy will play next week.
This is no doubt a huge bummer for McIlory, who is the defending Open champion and current World No. 1 golfer. Whether or not his injury and time away from the game affects Rory McIlory PGA Tour, however, remains to be seen.
The game was originally expected to launch in June, but was later delayed so that EA could make sure the online infrastructure will be smooth and stable at release.
The Polish studio now warns against downloading the DLC--Ciri's Zerrikanian outfit--because it "wasn't ready." And, as with any pre-release software, it might contain issues that could hurt your experience.
Though The Witcher 3's DLC campaign is taking this week off, CD Projekt Red plans to release at least three more free add-ons in the weeks to come.
Ciri's new outfit will follow previously released alternate attire for Geralt, Yennefer, and Triss.
What do you think of Ciri's new look? Let us know in the comments below.
In other Witcher 3 news, CD Projekt Red has announced a major patch for all versions of the game that will make a long list of substantial changes. You can read some of the key changes here, while the full patch notes are coming later this week.
@feijoax@witchergame This DLC became available prematurely via XBL - wasn't ready. We advise against using it until it releases officially.
The upcoming Assassin's Creed movie continues to add top talent to its cast.
According to Variety, Michael K. Williams, who is best known for his leading roles on The Wire and Boardwalk Empire, has joined New Regency's Assassin's Creed movie and will play a major role.
Interestingly, the report also reveals that New Regency and Ubisoft are planning to make at least one additional Assassin's Creed movie. Sources told the site that Williams' character "has a major stake in the franchise" and that, for a sequel, he will have a co-starring role alongside lead actor Michael Fassbender.
Neither New Regency nor Ubisoft have confirmed Williams' involvement with the Assassin's Creed movie project, but Williams basically validated the news on Twitter through a series of retweets.
The news was revealed on the official Dragon Age blog, where BioWare said "all future Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One only."
To encourage players to move to the versions released for newer consoles, BioWare has also introduced the ability to export saves and move them over.
"We designed our Save Importer feature to help make the transition to a new console as easy as possible," it explained.
A step-by-step FAQ on importing saves is available here, for those interested.
In the video, which you can watch below, Snake embarks on a mission titled "A Hero's Way," in which he is tasked with taking out a Spetsnaz commander.
Snake is joined by Quiet, Diamond Dogs' designated sniper and, along with the usual sneaking, tranquillising, and Fulton-recovering, there's a point where Snake fires his arm, which is powered by rockets, and guides it around a base before slamming it into an enemy soldier.
Fans of the Metal Gear series may remember something similar happening in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, when Vladimir Aleksandrovich Zadornov fired his prosthetic arm at Big Boss.
Kojima previously said Konami was planning to release a video depicting a "different way of infiltration" in the upcoming open-world stealth game. Rocket-arm definitely count as different.
"While it is true that a few microtransactions option due exists, the entire game has been carefully balanced to be fair and enjoyable with or without using these options," Konami said.
"There's no pay to win option. Rest assured that every single item, weapon, and mission in the game is available to all players without paying a single cent."
Details for the upcoming Batgirl-focused DLC for Batman: Arkham Knight have been revealed, along with the first in-game screen shot.
Delivered by Entertainment Weekly, the new information reveals Batgirl: A Matter of Family will be set before the events of 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum, and features a team-up with Robin.
The crime-fighting duo collaborate to rescue Batgirl's father, Commissioner Gordon, who has been kidnapped by Joker.
The DLC has been created by Batman: Arkham Origins developer WB Montreal and is set in a new area called the Seagate Amusement Park. The environment features a nautical theme, but is built on top of an oil rig that--naturally--is rigged to be a death trap.
"We wanted to recreate the feeling of being trapped in a bizarre and unique environment playing a game of cat and mouse with the Joker," explained Justin Vazquez, designer of the DLC.
"Hacking is really what separates her from the other characters. It's a gameplay mechanic with which the player can create situations for Batgirl to really shine," says Vasquez.
"Our intention was that Batgirl should be less powerful than Batman, but that Batgirl plus hacking could give her opportunities do things that not even Batman can pull off."
The DLC is described by its designer as a "love letter to the original game that started this incredible franchise."
Batgirl: A Matter of Family will be available from July 14 for season pass holders. It will be available for general purchase on July 21 for $6.99.
Warner Bros has only announced plans for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions of the DLC, and has not discussed a PC version.
The publisher has had a punishing two weeks, thanks to a litany of bugs discovered in the PC version. After apologising and announcing its intention extensively fix the numerous problems, Warner decided to pull the title from Steam.
Most recently, Warner Bros was accused to have known about Arkham Knight's PC Problems "for months", however these claims--purportedly from internal QA employees--are not proven.

On release, the USF4 for PS4 suffered from a number of issues, including choppy menu screens and strange visual bugs like blurry textures, and high saturation for some character models.
Sony's Gio Corsi, a director of third-party production and developer relations, very quickly responded by saying it is exploring patch options. The company has since issued a number of updates and, over time, the game has improved in quality. Though it still not on par with its Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts.
Microsoft has announced a new name for its Xbox Music service, titled Groove. The service will be released with Windows 10 PCs from July 29. Groove costs $9.99 a month, or $99 for a yearly subscription, which grants access to "one of the largest catalogs on the planet" without advertisements. Songs can be streamed or downloaded for listening offline.
Xbox One owners can use the app to listen to music while playing a game, though this is currently only achievable using the Snap feature. This takes up some space on the screen, making it a less-than-ideal solution. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has said in the past that a feature which allows for music to be played in the background will not be delivered until Windows 10 integration for the Xbox One is completed.
Meanwhile, competitor Sony currently has PlayStation Music, a service which was launched by Spotify in March this year. The Spotify-PlayStation app replaced Music Unlimited, and is available to download for free on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xperia mobile devices.

This week at San Diego Comic-Con, Disney will hold a special panel for Star Wars Episode VII - The Force Awakens, but don't expect to see a new trailer or clips from the upcoming film. That's according to a new report today from Entertainment Weekly, which cites sources as saying the next official trailer will instead be released this fall. The movie itself hits theaters on December 18.
The Force Awakens panel at Comic-Con will, however, deliver a "behind-the-scenes look" at the movie, according to the publication. Director J.J. Abrams, writer Lawrence Kasdan, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will be on-hand during the panel.
What's more, the site reports that "several" actors who have not yet announced their roles in The Force Awakens will appear during the panel. The presentation will be held at the famous Hall H and is moderated by Nerdist creator Chris Hardwick.
