In our Red Dead Redemption 2 review we said that, while it features "some frustrating systems and a predictable mission structure," the game is "an excellent prequel, but it's also an emotional, thought-provoking story in its own right, and it's a world that is hard to leave when it's done."

Sony has revealed the list of last month's best-selling PS4 games on PSN. February was packed with high-profile releases, from Far Cry: New Dawn to Metro Exodus, but it was BioWare's cooperative RPG/shooter, Anthem, that took the top spot in both North America and Europe.
Despite its rocky launch, Anthem has similarly been performing well at retail, at least in the UK. It debuted at No. 1 in the region and managed to hold on to that position for the week ending March 2.
Taking the runner-up spot in North America was Bandai Namco's crossover fighting game, Jump Force. Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto V continues to defy the specter of age, coming in at No. 2 in Europe and rounding out the top three in North America.
February also saw the surprise release of Apex Legends, the new battle royale game from Titanfall developer Respawn, and it is similarly off to a strong start, dethroning the genre's reigning champion, Fortnite, on the Free-to-Play chart. Epic's battle royale game dropped to No. 3 last month, while another battle royale game, Realm Royale, took No. 2.
You can see PSN's top 10 best-selling PS4 games for February below. The full list for each region can be found on the US and European PlayStation Blogs.

Divinity: Original Sin II is one of the few games we've given a 10/10, and it went on to be included in our list of top 10 games for 2017. In our Divinity: Original Sin II review, Brett Todd wrote, "From lonely farmhouses through pitched battles with gods in far-flung dimensions, Divinity: Original Sin II is one of the most captivating role-playing games ever made in both its original and Definitive incarnations, with the latter proving that even the most complicated role-players can be ported successfully to gamepad-limited consoles. This immaculately conceived and emotion-wrought fantasy world, topped by brilliant tactical combat, make it one of the finest games of recent years, and it remains an instant classic in the pantheon of RPG greats."
In Devil May Cry 5, you'll need to up your skills in combat to see some of the game's most exciting and satisfying moments. Just like in previous games in the series, Capcom's action game features some hidden secrets to uncover, and they'll require players to put their skills to the test in order to unlock them. Though in a , which feature post-credits easter eggs at game's end, Devil May Cry 5's secret ending can be seen during the opening mission of the game.
In the Prologue, you'll play as Nero--sans his iconic Devil Bringer. As it's revealed in the first act of the game, his demonic arm was torn off by a mysterious figure, and he's been hellbent on exacting revenge ever since. In this state, the scrappy protagonist is as well-equipped compared to his outing in DMC4, which makes his first major encounter with the all-powerful Urizen a major battle to overcome. This first boss fight is intended to show how powerful this big bad is, and that Nero will need more power to stand a chance. Having said that, it's actually possible to defeat Urizen in this battle--ending the threat before it even begins to have a major impact.
First off, I'd like to stress that unless you're a highly skilled DMC player that wants to show off, you're much better off saving this particular fight for when you've successfully cleared through the game at least once. It's not worth doing multiple attempts on this missing right the beginning. Since you're free to replay every mission in the game at any time, bringing all of your upgrades and new skills to old missions, it will make for a much more 'fair' fight if you come in prepared. As the prologue mission clearly illustrates, Nero is outmatched. But even when you revist this mission more prepared, you're still in for a tough fight. If you want to see this ending, it's recommended you try this fight on the Devil Hunter difficulty.
The key to winning this fight is to keep moving and to avoid all of Urizen's attacks. While this seems simple and a pretty obvious tip, the new demon king is extremely effective at keeping you at a distance and overwhelming you with attacks--all of which deal heavy damage. You're essentially fighting a near end-game boss right at the beginning, and he'll pull out all the stops to take you down, and all without getting up from his chair. In order to strike Urizen directly, you'll need to destroy the crystal that protects him. This crystal not only shields him from damage, but it will also use attacks of its own. Generally speaking, you'll want to stay as close as possible to him and keep attacking the crystal until it shatters. This will leave Urizen vulnerable for a limited time, allowing you to get some hits in. He'll regain his posture soon after and conjure up another crystal--repeating the process again.
If you're able to fend off Urizen's attacks and go in for the critical blows when he's vulnerable, then you'll be treated to a somewhat uneventful if a bit humorous ending celebrating your feat. You'll also be treated to an achievement/trophy for clearing the tough battle. Though it may not seem worth the effort, it is a particularly interesting fight to brute force your way through, and it'll be a nice feather in your cap. With that said, a real challenge will be clearing this battle on Dante Must Die mode, DMC5's hardest difficulty.

The Simpsons executive team has decided to pull an episode that featured deceased pop star Michael Jackson as a guest voice, following renewed allegations of abuse. Creator Matt Groening, executive producer James L. Brooks, and showrunner Al Jean said they reached the decision together after viewing the HBO documentary Leaving Neverland.
"It feels clearly the only choice to make," Brooks told The Wall Street Journal. "The guys I work with--where we spend our lives arguing over jokes--were of one mind on this."
The 1991 episode "Stark Raving Dad" was about Homer being committed to a mental institution, where he met a soft-spoken patient who believes he is Michael Jackson, who at the time was a famous musician. Homer didn't know the pop music reference, but brought the man home with him. Word spread around town that Jackson was visiting, leading to a backlash against the Simpson family when he turned out to be an imposter. The man then helped Bart write a song for his sister Lisa's birthday.
Jackson was credited under the name "John Jay Smith" to obscure his involvement in the episode. He spoke his own lines, but used a voice double for the singing parts.
Leaving Neverland prominently features testimony from Wade Robson and James Safechuck. Both allege that when they were boys, Jackson groomed the boys for sexual abuse and instructed them to keep silent about these experiences. The documentary has led to a new conversations about Jackson's legacy, and some radio stations have pulled his songs from their rotation.

Games tech company Improbable has announced it is venturing into games development with two newly created studios in London and Edmonton, the latter of which is being headed up by former BioWare veteran Aaryn Flynn. In a press release, the company says the studios are working on "online multiplayer games" powered by its SpatialOS platform.
Flynn worked at BioWare for 11 years and served as the company's general manager from 2015-2017. During his tenure there, he oversaw the development of the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises, as well as Star Wars: The Old Republic. He joined Improbable as the general manager of its North American games business in September 2018.
"I was interested in making a game using SpatialOS from the very first time I spoke to Improbable," Flynn said. "Building tools and content has been a great way for our Edmonton team to master SpatialOS, but a full game was always an opportunity myself and others had in mind as the Edmonton studio took shape. Now, after a lot of great hires and great progress, we're going to focus on creating that game using Unreal Engine 4 and building on SpatialOS' next-generation online games platform."
Improbable's London studio, meanwhile, is being led by John Wasilczyk, who previously worked at EA DICE and Fortnite developer Epic Games. The company says it plans to further grow these studios and found additional ones in other locations.
Improbable will discuss its SpatialOS platform and its move into game development at this year's Game Developers Conference, which takes place from March 18-22. The company will also host two panels at the conference, which will feature Flynn and Josh Holmes, who previously worked on the Def Jam Vendetta and Halo series.
Every weekend, a small group of games are discounted and available to play for free on Steam, and the latest bunch of free weekend offerings are now live. The first game available to play for free this weekend is Conan Exiles, which released last May. Conan Exiles is an open-world survival game set in the savage lands of Conan the Barbarian where you must build up your own kingdom from nothing. The game can be played in single-player, co-op, or persistent online multiplayer modes. Explore the wilds, gather resources, slay monsters, loot treasure, and wage war against other civilizations to become the dominant clan among many. The developers recently rolled out more updates to Conan Exiles, so it's a good chance to try the game out. Conan Exiles will be free to play until Sunday, March 10, at 1 PM PST / 4 PM EST.
If you play Conan Exiles and love the experience, its standard edition is just $20 this weekend--a full 50% off. The deluxe edition is $42 (40% off) and comes with five DLC packs.
Also free to play on Steam this weekend: Warhammer: Vermintide 2, a first-person co-op adventure set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe. Think Left 4 Dead, but instead of fighting your way through swarms of infected humans, you'll fight alongside three companions against combined hordes of Skaven and Chaos. You also have five different characters and 15 diverse classes to choose from. You can play Vermintide 2 for free until Sunday, March 10 at 1 PM PST / 4 PM EST.
Vermintide 2's standard edition is just $12 (60% off) and the collector's edition is only $18 (also 60% off) until Monday, March 11 at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST.
Hover is another free-to-play offering on Steam this weekend--check it out at no cost until Sunday. The game is only $6.79 (66% off) until Tuesday, March 12 at 10 AM PST / 1 PM EST. Available to play alone or online with friends, Hover is a fast-paced parkour game set in a futuristic open-world city where you lead a young team of rebels against an anti-leisure dictatorship using high-tech gear that allows you to pull off crazy tricks and combos.
It's the first weekend of Joker's Wild, Destiny 2's second Annual Pass content expansion. That means everyone's favorite snake-faced salesman, Xur, is back in the solar system with a host of Exotic weapons and armor. But unlike Xur's visits for the first five seasons of Destiny 2, this weekend is different: it's the first time that Xur has a chance of bringing along Exotics from the Forsaken expansion to sell.
Of course, now that Forsaken Exotics are in the rotation, that doesn't mean that Xur is guaranteed to actually bring you something you might want. They're just in the randomly chosen pool of his wares. Luckily, this week is an embarrassment of riches for players who've been hoping to snag some Year Two Exotics, because Xur has three of them.
Xur's arrival this week takes him to the Tower, where you'll find him in the Hangar. At the bottom of the stairs as you enter the area, turn left and walk to the back to where you'll find a staircase heading upward to the left toward a catwalk. Xur is about halfway up, enjoying the view.
The Forsaken weapon Xur is packing this week is Trinity Ghoul, a combat bow that fires more than one shot at once. The arrow from Trinity Ghoul splits when fired to make three shots, but you can decrease that spread by aiming down the sights and fully charging the shot. Precision kills also send chain lightning out that can hit other enemies.
In the armor department, Xur has two other Forsaken Exotics for sale. The first is Ursa Furiosa, a pair of gauntlets for Titans that increase your movement speed when Sentinel Shield is active and converts Guarded Damage to Super energy when your Super ends. Hunters, meanwhile, get the Oathkeeper Exotic Gauntlets from Forsaken, which allow you to hold bow charges indefinitely. The only class that doesn't have a Forsaken Exotic for sale is Warlock, which gets the Ophidian Aspect gauntlets from the Curse of Osiris expansion. The gloves speed your weapon reload and ready times and extend your melee range.
Here are all the Exotics Xur offers this week and what they'll cost you:
You can also buy a Fated Engram, if you can afford it. Dropping 97 Legendary Shards on the item will grant you one Year One Exotic you don't already have for that character. Xur also offers the Five of Swords challenge card for free, which allows you to add difficulty modifiers that increase your score in Nightfall runs.
Xur's arrival this week also corresponds with the release of The Reckoning Tier 2, which makes stronger Gambit Prime armor available. If you haven't dived into the two new Joker's Wild activities, check out our guide, which can help you navigate the differences between Gambit and Gambit Prime and keep you alive during the chaos of the Reckoning.

As is tradition, Devil May Cry 5 features secret challenges tucked away throughout the main story. Some of these are easy enough to finish in a single attempt, there are others that will put your combat skills and patience to the test. In this guide, we're breaking down where to find all of Devil May Cry 5's secret missions and how to complete them.
Unlike past DMC games, which often used obscure notes to signify the location of a secret mission, the newest game in the series takes a more puzzle and reflex-oriented approach to find these hidden challenges. Some missions house special glyphs that serve as the gateway to these special encounters. Often times you'll see strange red streaks stretched across certain rooms or areas in the environment, which serve as indicators that a secret mission is nearby.
Once you find where the secret mission is, you'll need to adjust the camera's perspective while standing on a specific spot to line up the red streaks to form a glowing glyph, which will enable the hidden challenge. After you activate the secret mission, you're tasked with completing some of the games more unusual challenges. Though rest assured, if you find yourself stuck on a particular mission, you're safe to back out of it and try again in the main menu--which allows you to replay them at any time.
Here is GameSpot's complete breakdown on how to find and complete all 12 secret missions in Devil May Cry 5. If you want more info about Capcom's new action game, be sure to check out the full review, and along with our gameplay montage of some of the best fights we've had so far with Dante, Nero, and V.
Secret Mission 1
Found In Mission 2: Located in the hotel, this is an easy one to find since the game makes a point to highlight it for you. To activate the secret mission, walk over to the side of the bed against the furthest side of the room and point the camera toward the open door to line up the glyph.
How To Complete: As the first secret mission, this will be the easiest. Simply cut loose and use all the tools you've got to eliminate all the enemies before the time runs out.
Secret Mission 2
Found in Mission 3: About halfway through the Flying Hunter mission, you'll come to staircase shortly after arriving in the sewer. Jump down to the bottom of the stairs, walk towards the sewer grate, and look up to the ceiling to line up the secret mission's glyph.
How To Complete: Finishing this mission can be tricky, but it's still doable early on. You'll find a set of Red Empusa scattered around the roof, you'll need to aggressively attack one at a time in to defeat the entire group before they escape. Take advantage of your devil breakers and Nero's exceed mechanic to lay the damage on fast to defeat one enemy, then quickly move on to the next one. Though they're prone to escape, they'll only do so if they're threatened.
Secret Mission 3
Found in Mission 4: After making it past the bridge, you'll find a Nidhogg Hatchling outside a warehouse. Taking the hatchling will lead to a fight with demons. After this battle, head inside the warehouse keep moving forward until you reach the streets below. In the distance, you'll see a giant mural on the side of one of the buildings. Summon Nightmare to have him crash through the wall. Jump through the opening to find a back alley passage to the second Nidogg Hatchling. If you stick to the streets, you'll likely find the familiar red streaks on the ground. Continue forward and make a left at the fork in the road to find two demonic gates blocking the path forward. After using the hatchlings you have in your possession, continue inside the building and enter the room on the top floor. Through the opening in the wall, look down to the streets below to line up the glyph and activate the secret mission.
How To Complete: As the objective states, you simply need to find all the red orbs in the room before time expires. This simple mission can be made a bit easier by purchasing V's sprint skill--where he rides on the back of Shadow to move faster.
Secret Mission 4
Found in Mission 5: Once again, you'll need Nightmare's help to open up a hidden pathway. After encountering the second leg of the giant demon walking above, you'll see a poorly built wall directly ahead. Summon Nightmare to break the wall and continue forward to enter another battle. Once this fight is complete, look to the side of the room to find a metal staircase. Reach the top and swing the camera towards the metal rafter to find the glyph.
How To Complete: As described, you'll simply need to defeat all the enemies without getting hit. Both of Shadow and Griffon's sweeping and charged up attacks are very helpful in this battle, but to give you an extra offensive edge, summon Nightmare. Take advantage of V's evasive maneuvers with either Shadow or Griffon, and keep as much distance as possible to come away unscathed.
Secret Mission 5
Found In MIssion 8: Throughout this mission, you'll come across some weird sections that will have you travel through giant demonic blood veins and large lava falls that flow upwards. Towards the end of the level, you'll find a second lava fall, which just so happens to be close to the end of the level. Instead of going straight to the top, jump off the platform on the right to reach a set of grapple points. Use your wire-hook to grapple upwards and into a hidden area. Head into the middle of the area and turn your camera around to open up the way to the secret mission.
How To Complete: This secret mission can be a challenge. To activate the grapple points, you'll need to shoot at them to allow for the wire-hook to get a hold of it. The tough task is managing to maintain the rhythm of shooting and grappling, one after another. One frustrating occurrence is building up too much momentum, which will cause Nero to overshoot the grapple point, leading to him either missing the next one or crashing to the floor. The key to finishing this mission is to stay patient and maintain a rhythm. If you need some extra help, Gerbera's air-dodge can help you reposition if you're slightly off course. However, it's best to just stick with the basics for this mission.
Secret Mission 6
Found In Mission 9: The secret mission in this stage can be especially tricky to find. Before reaching the sections leading to the catacombs below, you'll find a cluster of tendrils blocking the pathway to a blue orb fragment. Though you may feel inclined to backtrack, you actually have everything you need to open the way forward. Simply walk up to the tendrils, and then summon Nightmare. The hulking familiar will crash land on the blood sack ahead of you, killing the tendrils and opening up the way forward. Once you get the blue orb fragment, turn the camera towards the entrance to activate the glyph for the next secret mission.
How To Complete: With only twenty seconds to kill three enemies, you'll need to go for the fast and sweeping attacks to get it done. Start off by charging up Griffon's sweeping laser attack, while having Shadow go in for quick attacks. Don't bother summoning Nightmare, as he's far too slow to be of any use during this mission. Activating the attack boosts for your familiars (using LT or L2 buttons) can up their strength to make it easier.
Secret Mission 7
Found In Mission 10: Throughout this level, you'll encounter special doors that close up after a set amount of time has passed. Usually, you'll encounter these doors prior to a fight, forcing you to take out the enemies fast to enter the closing passage. In the later section of Mission 10, you'll enter a room with two doors, and along with a large group of enemies to fight. After the fight, rush into the door on the right and head up the winding passage. At the top, you'll find the location of the secret mission.
How To Complete: As the objective states, you'll need to target the Death Scissor's weakpoint and take them down with a single bullet. To do that, you'll need to force an opening in their defense. Carefully attack their giant scissors--which they use to block attacks. Parrying their strikes is especially effective when trying to create an opening. Causing any damage to them before they expose their weakpoint will result in mission failure. Once their weapon is broken, wait for a red aura to appear around their head, and then open fire. To be safe and avoid any excess damage, stick with a charged up weapon like Ebony and Ivory for accuracy.
Secret Mission 8
Found In Mission 11: This secret mission is actually fairly easy to find. When you reach the light-puzzle section involving the tendrils and crumbling tower, destroy the first blood sac that you find--Dante will even point it out for you. After a section of the tower sinks, backtrack to the opening that you came in from. Stand in the center of the opening and line up the glyph to activate the next secret mission.
How To Complete: In order to maintain that S rank, do your best to avoid taking damage and maintaining a steady of flow of damage on the enemies. The toughest foe in this battle are the demons that wield cleavers. They also happen to gain super-armor when they bounce back after an attack, though you can knock them out of it if you can manage to deflect their strikes. Focus on eliminating the high-risk foes first, and then keep your evasive maneuvers and attacks going to stay on top.
Secret Mission 9
Found In Mission 12: Though there are several winding paths throughout this stage, the secret mission is actually located after you have opened the hidden entrance beneath the statue. Once you reach the caverns below, you'll eventually come to a large set of steps before the exit leading back outside. Immediately turn around to find a small overhang above. Jump up to the platform above to find the sign for the secret mission. Turn the camera around to find the glyph.
How To Complete: The key to making it through this challenge is having the right weapon in your arsenal. A surprisingly good melee weapon to use for this mission is the Cavaliere motorcycle. With the Swordmaster stance, the Caveliere's aerial style move is very useful for staying in mid-air. Repeatedly mashing the style move with the Cavaliere will keep Dante in the air for long enough to complete the objective. However, if you receive damage at any point, you'll instantly fail the mission.
Secret Mission 10
Found In Mission 14: After completing V's boss rush section, you'll be able to proceed into the tail end of the level. In this section, you'll encounter Dante and Nero fighting in the distance. Destroy the nearby blood sac to open the pathway forward. Once you make your way down the path, hang a hard left to find a pathway leading to another blood sac. Destroy it to find a smaller area behind it. Approaching it will show the sign for the secret mission. Turn the camera around towards the ceiling to find the glyph.
How To Complete: This mission can be especially vexing even if you feel like you've got a solid handle of V's movement and abilities. Without touching the ground, you'll need to reach the blue orb fragment to clear the mission. However, Griffon and Shadow's abilities aren't especially useful when trying to cover such a great distance. But when all else fails while playing as V, just summon Nightmare. At the beginning of the mission, conjure up your demonic golem and it will appear on the ground below. If you have the Promotion skill, you'll be able to leap onto its back and safely move Nightmare to the goal.
Secret Mission 11
Found In Mission 15: This is one of the more...interesting secret missions to get to. Once you reach the upgrade statue after completing the first section of the stage, hang a right around it to find a path leading below. On the easier difficulties, you'll find a Punch Line devil breaker on the ground and some steep slopes ahead of you. If you've been practicing your rocket surf skills throughout the game, then this section is the ultimate test of your handling of the Punch Line. Activate the Rocket Surf skill and ride up the slopes and inclines till you reach the end spot. Just further ahead, you'll find the location of the secret mission.
How To Complete: Though this is a fairly simple platform section, you have only 30 seconds to reach the goal. The hardest part of this mission is the final part with the moving platforms. An easy way to get to the finish is by using the Gerbera's aerial dodge move, which can give you extra airtime. If you can reach the platform closest to the top, you can use Nero's aerial skills to make it to the blue orb fragment, completing the mission.
Secret Mission 12
Found In Mission 16: The final secret mission is easily missable, which can be frustrating if you flub any jumps or forget to observe your surroundings. Throughout Dante's stage are three massive pits that lead down into the lower depths of the level. While you can skip past these sections and jump straight down, there are several platforms that have red, white, and green orbs for you to collect. In the second pit, you can find a small alcove housing access to the secret mission. Once you reach the second pit, carefully jump down onto each platform and look around for the small opening. Once you find it, head inside and look back out to find the glyph.
How To Complete: With only one Empusa--one of the weakest enemies in the game--and the goal of reaching 900 red orbs, you'll need to be efficient with your moves to complete this mission. As you might have guessed, the best weapon to use for this mission is the Dr. Faust firearm. One of the more unusual aspects of the Faust is that it manipulates red orbs to amplify damage, while also leading to a higher payout for defeated enemies. Carefully use the Faust's attacks, particularly the Hat Trick move, to rack up red orbs and defeat the enemy. If you've upgraded the weapon, you can defeat the Empusa and collect more orbs than you need in only a few hits.
With Captain Marvel now in theaters, the countdown to Avengers: Endgame has begun. The movie is the culmination of 11 years of epic inter-connected storytelling, and anticipation amongst Marvel fans could not be higher. Last year's Avengers: Infinity War delivered a devastating ending, with half the universe instantly wiped out when Thanos completed his collection of Infinity Stones. Endgame will deal with the fallout from this, as the remaining heroes set out to confront Thanos and--presumably--attempt to return their friends back to existence.
Endgame is the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. All the movies are important to some degree in developing both the overall narrative of the MCU and the character arcs for its heroes and villains, but let's face it, it's still a lot of movies. Those fans looking forward to Endgame might not necessarily remember every last detail of a Marvel movie released a decade ago--and with so much attention-grabbing TV and cinema out there, rewatching the entire MCU in preparation for Endgame might not be possible.
So here's our list of every movie in the MCU to date, with details of where you can stream them to rewatch at home--and if you should bother. We're not looking at the relative quality of each movie; it's simply whether a Marvel movie can be skipped in the build-up to Endgame, or if it contains plot or character information that is important to know before Endgame is released. Here we go...
1. Iron Man (2008)

Should you bother? No. Iron Man is notable for being the first movie in the entire MCU--not only does it introduce us to Tony Stark, it gives us our first taste of the wider universe, with Nick Fury turning up at the end. It's also a great movie. But purely in terms of preparing for Endgame, there's nothing in here that can't be found elsewhere in the franchise, making it inessential to watch before the new movie arrives.
2. The Incredible Hulk (2008)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? No. Bruce Banner has featured so regularly across the MCU that there is little in his first appearance to make this film worth a rewatch for Endgame prep. Admittedly it also marks the MCU debut of Thunderbolt Ross, who is an important figure in the unfolding narrative of the Avengers. But again, it's Ross's actions in Civil War that we need to check out, not in this movie. Also, Edward Norton's portrayal of Banner is so different to Mark Ruffalo's, it's hard to reconcile it as the same character.
3. Iron Man 2 (2010)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? No. Like the first Iron Man, there's nothing in the sequel in terms of character or plot that is necessary to rewatch going into Endgame. And unlike Iron Man, it doesn't even have the bonus of being a particularly good movie. The best thing about Iron Man 2 is the introduction of Natasha Romanoff, and we know that she is one of the Avengers who survives Thanos's snap. But fans wanting to remind themselves of how awesome Black Widow is have plenty of better films to choose from.
4. Thor (2011)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? No. For the most part, Thor has very little bearing on anything that is happening in the MCU 18 movies later. If you're an absolute Infinity Stone completists the post-credit scene contains the first appearance of the Tesseract, but it's hardly worth sitting through the whole movie for.
5. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Where to stream: Digital rental
Should you bother? No. There's nothing vital in terms of characters, and while it marks the first chronological appearance of the Tesseract (in this case it's used by the Red Skull and HYDRA to power their weapons), it can be safely skipped.
6. Marvel's The Avengers (2012)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? Yes. For fans of everyone's favourite mad intergalactic tyrant, it's worth reminding yourself of Thanos's first MCU appearance. It occurs during the movie's post-credit sequence, where it is revealed that he is the Other's master, thus laying the seeds of his eventual rise to universe-destroying power. The Space Stone also plays an important part of the story, with Loki using it to aid his invasion of Earth.
7. Iron Man 3 (2013)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? Maybe. It's possible that Iron Man 3 is not an essential rewatch. However, some reportedly leaked images of Endgame Lego kits have suggested that Tony Stark's Hall Of Armor, which appeared in this movie, will reappear in Endgame. Of course, the strange thing is that all those suits were destroyed at the end of Iron Man 3 as a result of the Clean Slate Protocol--suggesting that some time travel could be involved. However, it's also possible that none of this is the case at all. But hey, Iron Man 3 is a hugely entertaining movie, so your time won't be entirely wasted.
8. Thor: The Dark World (2013)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? No. Thor: The Dark World is simply not a good movie--even star Chris Hemsworth thinks so. The Reality Stone does figure in the plot--the evil Malekith creates Aether from it, in order to transform matter into dark matter. But all you need to know is that the end of the movie, the stone is handed over the Collector to keep it away from Space Stone. There, we saved you two hours.
9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? No. The only thing that really links Winter Soldier to Endgame is the return of the stealth suit--Endgame's trailers reveal that Steve will be wearing the distinctive, very cool suit last seen in Winter Soldier. But if you're pressed for time, this one can be skipped.
10. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Where to stream: FX until April 1
Should you bother? Yes. In many ways, the story path that leads of Endgame started in the first Guardians of the Galaxy. It is ironic that on the face of it, this was the MCU movie with the least amount of crossover with the wider movie universe. But looking back, it is the film that properly introduces Thanos (and his relationship with Gamora), and the scene in which the Collector explains the history and power of the Infinity Stones is essential to understanding where we are as Endgame begins.
11. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? Yes. It's the weakest Avengers movie but a vital piece of the puzzle. The Mind Stone plays an important part--not only is it used by Tony Stark to build Ultron, the seemingly benevolent AI that ultimately turns on the Avengers, but it's also part of the creation of Vision. With the stone embedded in Vision's forehead, he is both a powerful force for good, but also an obvious target for Thanos when he comes looking to complete his collection.
12. Ant-Man (2015)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? No. Ant-Man is an entertaining movie, but in terms of Endgame, it's unlikely to offer anything necessary for a rewatch. While we know that Scott Lang will play a role in the new movie, the character arc that leads him to that point is covered in both Civil War and Ant-Man and Wasp.
13. Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Where to stream: TNT until March 9
Should you bother? Yes. Civil War might not feature Thanos or Infinity Stones, but its ramifications still echo throughout the MCU. The fallout between the different superhero factions was deep and painful--in particular between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. The pair don't reunite in Infinity War, but since both survived the snap, we can expect them to finally meet again in Endgame. In addition, we know from the Endgame trailer that Ant-Man comes to visit Steve and Natasha--the last time that Scott Lang saw any of the Avengers was during Civil War.
14. Doctor Strange (2016)
Where to stream: digital rental
Should you bother? Yes. Stephen Strange is one of the victims of the snap, but let's face it--if there's one character able to do something clever with time and space and come back, it's this guy. Also, Doctor Strange is the movie that really shows the incredible power of the Time Stone, with the evil Dormammu trapped in a time-loop that stops him from destroying the Earth. Could this stone hold the key to defeating Thanos and resurrecting the universe's mightiest heroes?
15. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Where to stream: Netflix
Should you bother? No. While the first Guardians was important in establishing Thanos as a major character, the mad tyrant doesn't appear at all in the sequel. There are no Infinity Stones, and nothing here you need to remind yourself of going into Endgame. Good movie, but not an essential rewatch.
16. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Where to stream: Starz
Should you bother? Yes. Peter Parker's death is one of the most tragic moments in Infinity War, and a stark (pun intended!) reminder that he is just a kid. The father/son relationship between Peter and Tony is one of the emotional highs of the entire MCU, and is explored in Homecoming; there can be little doubt that Spidey's demise will weigh heavy on Stark in Endgame. But, of course, we know Spidey is back for Far From Home in July--and while the trailer doesn't provide any clues about where it fits in the MCU timeline, Marvel boss Kevin Feige previously suggested that the movie picks up after Endgame. And in any case, it's unlikely that everyone's favourite wallcrawler will stay away for long.
17. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Where to stream: Netflix
Should you bother? No. As wonderful as Thor Ragnarok is, the only thing of note in terms of setting up Endgame is the suggestion that Loki steals the Space Stone as Asgard is being destroyed. But the opening of Infinity War confirms this, and within minutes the stone is in Thanos's possession. Watch Ragnarok for the jokes, the action, and the wonderful characters--but skip as Endgame homework.
18. Black Panther (2018)
Where to stream: Netflix
Should you bother? Yes. Black Panther was released only three months before Infinity War and proved to be one of the most popular movies that Marvel had released to date. Wakanda was a vital location in Infinity War--the entire final battle takes place there, and it is within its forests that Thanos achieves his goal and completes the Infinity Gauntlet. T'Challa (and possibly Shuri) were both victims of the snap, but with the Black Panther sequel on the way, this is definitely not the last we've seen of these fantastic characters.
19. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Where to stream: Netflix
Should you bother? Infinity War is essential, especially since Endgame was originally titled Infinity War Part 2. The devastating climax was the biggest thing ever to happen in the MCU, and Endgame is set to explore its traumatic aftermath, as the surviving heroes learn to live in a post-snap world. At the very least you might need a reminder of exactly who is left alive--but in any case, Infinity War was such a remarkable achievement that one viewing is barely enough.
20. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Where to stream: Netflix
Should you bother? Yes. Scott Lang was absent from Infinity War (he was under house arrest), and the plot of Ant-Man and the Wasp seemingly had little to do with the rest of the MCU. But the final scene changed everything--the Pyms disappear while Scott Lang is within the Quantum Zone. However, we know from Endgame's trailers that he makes it out, and he could play an important role in the new movie.
