The bundle is headlined by DMC: Devil May Cry, the great action title from developer Ninja Theory. Since it's in the lowest tier of games on offer, you only need to pay more than $1 to grab it. Finally, if you pay $12 or more, you'll get Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 3. You can see the full list below.

In addition, the Capcom Rising bundle includes several bonus discounts that you can grab. Beating the average gets you a 40% off coupon for Resident Evil 7, a 50% off coupon for Dead Rising 4, and a 50% off coupon for Street Fighter V. These coupons are redeemable on the Humble Store and expire on August 22.

Pay more than $1 to get:

Pay more than the average to get:

As with all Humble Bundles, you can choose to whom your money goes, between charity, the developer, and Humble Bundle. This Humble Bundle's featured charities are WaterAid America, GamesAid, and Child's Play.

Personally, the Devil May Cry deal is too good to pass up. Which games are you most interested in? Let us know in the comments.

The Escapists 2 Release Date Revealed, Nintendo Switch Version Coming Later

By Patrick Faller on Jul 11, 2017 11:44 pm

The Escapists 2 now has an official release, a brand new trailer, and a special bonus for anyone who preorders the game. The sequel will provide more of the prison-break gameplay found in the original, with a whole host of new features and a new drop-in/drop-out multiplayer mode.

The game is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on August 22 and will cost $20. You can pre-order the PC version on Steam now, or you can pre-order physical editions of the console versions from retailers (with digital versions coming soon). No word on exactly when the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch, but the developer says its version will follow.

The Escapists 2 will feature 10 prisons, and anyone who pre-orders will get an additional prison called The Glorious Regime, which you can see in action in the trailer above. Here are some of the other features coming in The Escapists 2:

  • A dedicated tutorial for new players to learn the basics of prison life
  • Play each prison solo or multiplayer with both local and online co-op and versus modes for up to four players
  • A new drop-in, drop-out online multiplayer experience, where you plan and execute an intricate escape from your initial incarceration with your fellow inmates either online or locally. You can also hop into an existing game already in progress to help pull off the final escape
  • A new combat system
  • More than 300 customisations to create your prisoner
  • New ways to escape
  • New items to craft, including a home-made Taser to knock out guards

Starting today, anyone excited about the game can head over to its Create-a-Con website to design their own escapist and share it on social media.

The original The Escapists puts players in a sandbox-style prison simulation where you and fellow inmates devise a way to break out. GameSpot reviewer Cameron Woolsey called it challenging but incredibly rewarding in his review. In his words, "you might not want to live in one of The Escapists' prisons, but you will definitely enjoy the visit."

Sub-Zero Now Available In Injustice 2

By Alex Newhouse on Jul 11, 2017 11:12 pm

The latest DLC fighter is now available in Injustice 2. You can now pick up Sub-Zero, one of the iconic characters from the Mortal Kombat series, to play in the superhero fighting game.

Sub-Zero isn't on sale yet as a standalone purchase, however. To access him, you need to have bought either Fighter Pack 1, the Ultimate Pack, the Ultimate Edition, or the Digital Deluxe Edition. The Fighter Pack 1 DLC costs $20 and also comes with Red Hood, who was released last month, and Starfire, who will presumably be coming sometime in the near future.

If you don't want to drop the money on the entire pack, you'll be able to pick up Sub-Zero by himself on July 18 for $6.

Fans of Mortal Kombat know what to expect from Sub-Zero, as he plays pretty much the same in Injustice 2 as in the Mortal Kombat games. His moves include freezing opponents and making weapons out of ice. You can see his entire moveset in the video above.

Developer NetherRealm Studios hasn't announced an exact release date for Starfire. Given the schedule for the other two Fighter Pack 1 characters, it's likely that she'll arrive in August. A total of at least nine characters, including the three in Fighter Pack 1, will be released as DLC for Injustice 2.

Free Update For Switch's Arms Coming Tomorrow, Here's What It Adds

By Kevin Knezevic on Jul 11, 2017 10:32 pm

The next major update for the Nintendo Switch brawler Arms goes live tomorrow, July 12. Along with a new character and stage, the free update adds an entirely new versus mode to the game.

As Nintendo revealed last week, the new character coming in tomorrow's update is Max Brass, the champion of the game's Grand Prix. The update will make Brass a playable fighter, and as you can gather from his burly physique, he is one of the heaviest bruisers in the game. When his Arms are fully charged, he can take punches without flinching, and his Arms remain charged when his health falls below a certain point. Brass comes with three Arms sets (Nade, Roaster, and Kablammer) as well as a new outdoor stage called the Sky Arena.

In addition to Brass, Nintendo is introducing a new versus mode with tomorrow's update. In an interview with Eurogamer, Arms producer Kosuke Yabuki revealed that the mode will give players a chance to play as the game's final boss, Hedlok. "Max Brass is the main part of tomorrow's update, but there is a new versus mode where in a fight between two or three players there's a Hedlok mask players battle over, and when you get the mask your own character can turn into Hedlok," explained Yabuki.

Nintendo has said it will continue supporting Arms with a steady stream of free content. The first update the company released for the game arrived near the end of June and added an Arena Mode for local multiplayer as well as a LAN Mode. Nintendo will also take a similar approach to supporting the upcoming Splatoon 2. The team-based shooter launches for Switch this month, on July 21, and will receive free DLC maps, weapons, and gear for a year following its release.

3DS System Update Out Now, Here's What It Does (Not Much)

By Oscar Dayus on Jul 11, 2017 10:31 pm

Nintendo has released a new update for its 3DS family of handhelds, though don't expect the patch to do much. The patch notes simply state that "further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience."

The update is out now in the US, but it's unclear if it's available to international 3DS owners as well: the patch notes are currently not listed on Nintendo UK's site. We do know, however, that the patch is available for all 3DS models.

Version 11.5.0-38U is something of a rarity: it's the first new 3DS update since April and only the second since the launch of the Nintendo Switch in March. The hybrid console has been updated a number of times since its release. One recent patch simply included "general system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience," though the the prior update added the ability to store credit card information for the Eshop.

The Switch launched on March 3 globally. It sold 906,000 units in the United States during its first month, with launch title Zelda: Breath of the Wild moving more than 1.3 million units for Switch and Wii U combined. The Switch is the fastest-selling Nintendo system ever.

Despite that, Nintendo isn't done with releasing 3DS games. Hey! Pikmin launches later in July, while both Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Metroid II: Return of Samus are getting 3DS remakes. Nintendo is also launching a new 3DS model, the New Nintendo 2DS XL, on July 28 in the US.

Ex-Bioshock Devs Take Inspiration From Past Games To Make Arabian Nights Inspired City Of Brass

By Patrick Faller on Jul 11, 2017 09:50 pm

City of Brass is the latest project from Uppercut Games, a studio founded by a team of artists, designers, and programmers who worked on BioShock and BioShock 2. It's a first-person rogue-lite adventure game. You battle your way through an Arabian Nights-inspired city, finding treasure, collecting weapons and armor, and interacting with the environment and objects around you to try to stay alive.

City of Brass is taking some inspiration from the BioShock games, but will put players in a very different environment. Check out some gameplay above.

"We are drawing inspiration from BioShock in terms of the mechanics," Uppercut founder Ed Orman told GameSpot. "We're developing a combinative approach to the game systems, encouraging players to see how the systems interact with each other. In particular, the combo of whip and sword play into this, allowing the player to manipulate and then hurt enemies."

Additionally, the Genies you encounter are mostly friendly, and willing to barter gear, upgrades, secrets, unlocks or protections in return for loot, not unlike Rapture's vending machines and other devices," he added.

There's also a cinematic trailer out, which you can see below. Levels are proceedurally-generated, complete with traps and pitfalls. Uppercut Games says no two playthroughs will be the same. "You'll lash, slash, trick, trap through your enemies, and die often!" said Orman.

City of Brass will be released on PC this fall, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases due out in 2018.

Wonder Woman 2 Might Be Set During The 1980s

By Dan Auty on Jul 11, 2017 08:47 pm

Although a second Wonder Woman movie wasn't on DC's original schedule for its Extended Universe, the huge success of the first film has ensured a sequel. New details about Wonder Woman 2 have now emerged, and they reveal it might not be the modern day movie that was previously rumored.

No Caption Provided

According to Screen Rant, the sequel will be set in the 1980s, and will "send Diana against the forces of Soviet Union in the closing days of the Cold War." While DC has not commented on this, sources for The Wrap have "confirmed" the story.

There has been some confusion about whether director Patty Jenkins will return for Wonder Woman 2. Jenkins recently spoke about her plans for the sequel, leading many to presume that she was confirmed to direct it.

She later clarified her comments, stating that she hadn't yet signed on and was "just talking about ideas and hopes. But still excited and hopeful."

However, given Wonder Woman is now, domestically, the most successful DC movie, it would be very surprising if Jenkins didn't return. To date, the film has made $368.4 million at the US box office, beating last year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which grossed $330.3 million.

Blizzard Talks StarCraft Remastered, And Why It Deserves A Re-release After 20 Years

By Michael Higham on Jul 11, 2017 08:30 pm

With StarCraft Remastered on the horizon, GameSpot had the opportunity to play the modernized version of the iconic real-time strategy game at Blizzard's StarCraft Remastered Summit last month. And while there are no changes to the tried-and-true gameplay, new graphics and quality of life changes will give fans a reason to jump back or keep playing StarCraft. We also sat down and spoke with Grant Davies (Senior Software Engineer) and Brian Sousa (Senior Artist) to get more insight on StarCraft's path to the current generation.

GameSpot: What was the impetus for doing StarCraft Remastered?

Grant Davies: I think StarCraft has been such a huge and influential game over the years and it lives large in so many people's memories that after 20 years, the time felt right to circle back to this franchise and fix some of the issues, like working on modern operating systems. Then, it kind of became a bigger thing of 'hey, let's give it a refresh in terms of the graphics and other things.' That was the motivation behind it.

Brian Sousa: It's amazing that after almost 20 years people are still playing this game, and I think Blizzard could have stepped in a little bit earlier to keep supporting StarCraft. I think we haven't had a patch since eight years ago. People are still playing this game, and why aren't we the ones that are supporting it? And as we did this, we're thinking, 'why don't we do a whole upgrade pass on it too and see if we could keep the aesthetic, and play the HD and SD versions.' We're not changing any of the gameplay because that's why people are playing it. But again, you go to these tournaments and they're showing a 640x480 resolution screen up there and it doesn't really hold up. So, this is one of those times where we could really make it shine again.

GS: Were there any thoughts of implementing this as a patch instead of rebranding it as StarCraft Remastered in order to push out all these assets, like 4K and matchmaking?

GD: I think when you see the 4K sprites, you start to understand the volume of work that was done here. It's a lot more than just a small content patch. I wouldn't say it's a full new game because the gameplay is exactly the same as how it's been for 20 years, but when you look at it, you go, 'man this is totally a new experience.'

BS: All of the artwork in the game, all the menus are brand new and have been remade. And we're even going through the old cinematics and upscaling them, and remastering the sound and everything. So, we're doing a full pass on this. It's just not a small content patch.

GD: And it also extends beyond the artwork even though that's an amazing part of it. Now you can launch it through the Blizzard app and your account accesses the game, a new chat system, and matchmaking are huge features that we're bringing in as well. So, yes it's kind of a much bigger thing than a content patch.

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8Gallery image 9Gallery image 10

GS: What effect do you think this is going to have on the StarCraft 2 player base?

BS: I don't really know if it's going to effect it too much. The people that love StarCraft 2 are still going to love StarCraft 2. The people that love StarCraft, we're focusing on them. So, I hope that the people who play StarCraft 2 and never had a chance to play the original might give this some attention. Maybe we'll get some StarCraft 2 players, but we support StarCraft 2 and we love that game. I worked on it from the beginning.

GD: I can say as a fan of both games, I watched GSL and ASL. I have room in my life for both games. That's not going to change. I don't envision that having an effect.

GS: The gameplay is untouched. But along the way, were there any thoughts about making some tweaks like how many units you can control at once or unit pathing? Or was it the plan from the get go?

GD: We always decided from the start that gameplay was not going to change. But when you get into the details, you can still look at each individual piece and ask, 'is this a bug we should fix or is it that now after 20 years, it's so established and so ingrained that people think, no you can't change that?' So, I guess there were a few of those smaller things around the edges where we have to engage with the community and get feedback from them and ask, 'is this a bug we need to fix or is this something that you all rely on now?'

BS: And it's true. People want the really strange pathing or the fact that sometimes the Reavers shot kind of just disappears because the Scarab can't path to where it wants to go. Things like that, the pros really want. Especially in a tournament game it's added excitement because you're thinking, is it going to work or not? I have these units and if I just path them over here they know that some of them might not make it. The pros can always do their micromanagement. And if you're not a pro you can send everything to one spot. They find that as not as much of a deep game because now you're kind of like, I can bring my whole army in one attack.

GS: There's a big difference going from StarCraft 2 to playing the original again today. I was like, 'Oh snap, there's a lot of micromanagement! We've been babied this whole time!'

BS: We talked to a lot of the pros and the community to make sure that this is what they want. We didn't want to change anything that would upset them. One of the Protoss unit's eyes had inadvertently changed from red to blue and we got so much backlash we had it redone. Now the eyes are back to being the color they're supposed to be. We want the community to be happy and we listen to everything they have to say.

GD: And some cases, it's not so quick. The community is divided on some issues. Some people think it should be changed, some people don't think it should be changed. It can be challenging to navigate that.

GS: As for compatibility with old StarCraft, people within StarCraft Remastered can play with people on the original?

BS: It's across the board. If you wanted the free, original one today and you never upgrade and then Grant plays the remaster, I can still play him even though it's an older free version. So, the gameplay doesn't change at all. That way if you do play the old standard version then there's no problem. And it also makes it cool because even replays from like five years ago work.

GS: Is there anything you're doing to try and garner new players? Make it more beginner friendly? Many people are really good at it already. So, is there a reason for new players to jump in now since it's remastered?

GD: I would say there's two things. One is the new graphics. That's an awesome opportunity for people that come in now with the graphics being 4K. And the second thing is matchmaking. I can see why people might be turned off the idea of going in and playing people who've been playing for 20 years. You've been playing for two minutes and you'll get smashed all the time. But with matchmaking, you get matched against people who are your skill level. You're going to get equal matches, and you're going to progress and get better at the game.

BS: And I think if you play for the campaign, you learn how to play the game and you can take that knowledge into multiplayer games. In some games today, multiplayer is completely different. It's one of those things back in the day. These are the units you get in the campaign and you know exactly how they all work and this is going into multiplayer you have your expectations already set for what can be done.

Original StarCraft visuals to the left, Remastered visuals to the right.
Original StarCraft visuals to the left, Remastered visuals to the right.

GS: Now that there's going to be matchmaking, is matchmaking also going to be in the original or is that a Remastered exclusive?

BS: It's a Remastered exclusive.

GS: And you'll only be matched with people on Remaster.

BS: Yeah. It's new content, new experience.

GS: Is there or was there any thought about having silver, gold, diamond, platinum leagues? Different tiers as seen in StarCraft 2?

BS: There are definitely different ideas kicked around for matchmaking. And it's always an open conversation the same way it is with all Blizzard games. It'll definitely be changed as we go forward and figure out exactly what the community wants from it. I think the idea of a global leaderboard that we're running with at the moment is a pretty cool way to figure out who's number one and you can also see relative to your friends as well.

GS: That's how you're going to balance matchmaking: your position on the global leaderboard?

BS: Right.

GS: Are modding and map creator support going to be pretty much the same as before?

BS: Yeah, and we're actually doing a couple of things with the editor to make it a little easier.

GD: Because ramps are a big thing that's been added by the community since the release of StarCraft and that's something we want to move to support in the StarCraft editor. Whether it's something we'll roll out exactly in time with this release or whether it's something that's coming soon, that's an open question at this stage, but we're definitely committed to working with the modders and the map makers to make that experience better for them.

GS: Are there any features that you worked on since the beginning that were left out and decided against or tabled for the future?

BS: So I know in the beginning we sat down. 'This is what we want, this is what we need to do. We need to at least make the game exactly how people remember it and everything is just high resolution.' And then we sat down and said, 'what can we do in addition to that?' And we're still getting some of those features and we have a brand new lighting system that we're showing off, which it adds depth maps, normal maps, emissive to the units in the buildings that really make them pop off the screen a little more, which is also an option. So, you can play the game flat how it's always been played or you can turn on the lighting, and explosions will show lighting off of the buildings and things and give them a little bit of depth. Kind of like a fake 3D, 2.5D we're calling it. But in the end for all of the features that we want to add in there, we got most of them in.

GD: Yeah, absolutely. And it's also something as I talked about a little bit before. We need to be really careful, because sometimes something might seem like a slam dunk feature, but then as you start to talk about it more and talk to the people who've been playing the game for 20 years, not all of them might be on board as this being a good thing to add. We've been very careful in what we've added and made sure that everyone was happy.

BS: It was mostly to make sure that the gameplay always stayed the same and it would just be more aesthetic, rather than anything that would affect the game itself. We don't want to give an advantage to one player because they have the HD version. It has to play exactly the same, pretty much the same. So we were just playing around with how it looks but not the size of the silhouettes or anything.

GS: I probably already know the answer to this, but was there any thoughts on console versions?

All: (Laughs)

BS: No plans for a console version.

GS: Can you speak to Warcraft or the Diablo remakes? Is that still something that's being tossed around in terms of ideas?

GD: We've released a couple of patches for Diablo 2. I think we've done a few for Warcraft 3 now. But nothing else today.

StarCraft Remastered is set to release on August 14 for $15 USD, and it'll live on the Blizzard App (or Battle.net) ecosystem along with Overwatch, Diablo III, StarCraft 2, and others.

Stranger Things Season 2 Release Date Confirmed In New Teaser

By Dan Auty on Jul 11, 2017 07:43 pm

Stranger Things returns this fall, and a new teaser for the hit Netflix mystery has been released. It confirms Season 2's premiere date, and shows its young stars cycling towards an ominous storm. Check it out below:

Stranger Things Season 2 hits Netflix on October 27. A new poster has also been revealed, which you can see at the end of this story. A first teaser was screened during the Super Bowl in January.

While little is known about what the second season will deliver, creators Matt and Ross Duffer have previously stated that it will be "darker and weirder" than Season 1. These comments are similar to those made by Mike's actor, Finn Wolfhard, who described it as "more horror oriented."

In April, David Harbour, who plays cop Jim Hopper, revealed that he had seen some of the finished episodes. "I've seen Episode 1 and have seen a lot of the shooting at the monitor and I can honestly say that I am so excited for you all to see this season," he said. "It's so fun and dark and complex.

"The characters all get to deepen and develop and we get to take on even greater demons (inner and outer). The story moves so fast in the middle and the tension is so high."

Stranger Things Season 2 will see the return of Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp, while Paul Reiser and Sean Astin will join the show in new roles.

Rainbow Six Siege Update Introduces Loot Boxes, Balance Changes, More

By Oscar Dayus on Jul 11, 2017 07:11 pm

Rainbow Six Siege is getting a new update today, preparing the game for the upcoming arrival of loot boxes. Title update 2.1.1 will also introduce a bunch of bug fixes and balance changes when it goes live on all platforms later today.

Siege's loot boxes are called Alpha Packs. According to publisher Ubisoft, they will introduce a "chance-based loot system that will contain many "past cosmetics (like the Black Ice skins) as well as exclusive Legendary tier items that you will only be able to get in Alpha Packs." The company says it's staggering the introduction of Alpha Packs across platforms "to ensure the most stable deployment possible." To celebrate the launch, every user will receive one free loot box once they're activated on your platform of choice.

Elsewhere, a bunch of issues with Hibana's X-Kairos weapon have been resolved. The gun's pellets could previously be concentrated in too small an area under certain conditions, as well as trigger early if you fired two sets at a time. Lastly, the pellets could appear to still be stuck to a reinforced wall after detonation. All these problems have now been fixed.

Kanal's ongoing problem with spawn-killing has been tweaked again, meanwhile. The issue caused Ubisoft to close off the window in the Control Room as part of the previous Siege update. However, after fan feedback, that move has been reversed and an extra piece of cover introduced instead. Finally, many of Coastline's walls have been rebuilt entirely in order to fix a problem where they could not be properly destroyed.

The update drops today on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, though loot boxes will not immediately become available. It comes midway through Operation Health, Ubisoft's set of updates designed to improve the "overall Rainbow Six Siege experience." Unfortunately, Operation Health meant some DLC had to be canceled.

"The planned Hong Kong season will be pushed back to Season Three in August, while November's Season Four will feature South Korea," Ubisoft said at the time. "Poland will no longer have its own season in Year Two, but its GROM Operators will be available at the start of seasons three and four. The number of new maps has also been reduced to three, and includes the most recent map set in Spain."

PS4 Update 4.72 Out Now, Here's What It Does (Not Much)

By Oscar Dayus on Jul 11, 2017 04:55 pm

PlayStation 4's latest system update is available to download now, but don't expect it to do too much. According to Sony, firmware update 4.72 "improves the quality of the system performance."

The patch weighs in at around 340 MB, and it's mandatory to install--just turn your PS4 on and the update should begin downloading automatically.

A recent PS4 Pro update added 4K support to its media player, but you still won't be able to watch 4K Blu-Rays. Before that, every PS4 user received version 4.5 in March. It introduced Boost Mode for PS4 Pro and added support for external hard drives.

The Boost Mode feature aims to improve the quality and performance of games that have not been patched to support PS4 Pro. "This can provide a noticeable frame rate boost to some games with variable frame rates, and can provide frame rate stability for games that are programmed to run at 30 Hz or 60 Hz," Sony explained at the time.

In other PlayStation news, Sony recently announced PS4 Trophies now sync "much quicker than ever before," though it's still not automatic like on Xbox One. Meanwhile a game that promised the "world's fastest platinum Trophy" has still not returned to the PlayStation Store after being pulled a fortnight ago. ★★★★★ 1000 Top Rated's developer claimed you could earn the title's platinum Trophy in under 20 minutes. However, Sony removed it from PSN "temporarily" and asked developer Top Rated to "change the game's name and not mention Trophies in the Store trailer."

Sony also announced a new PS4 Pro color just yesterday. The glacier white console will make its debut alongside Destiny 2 on September 6 as part of a bundle that also includes the shooter's expansion pass and "premium digital content."

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus Will Have A 184-Page Art Book

By Eddie Makuch on Jul 11, 2017 11:53 am

Publishing company Dark Horse today announced a new art book for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Produced in partnership with Bethesda and Machine Games, the book is described as a "comprehensive behind-the-scenes companion" to the game.

The 184-page hardcover book will contain concept art, production material, and commentary from the developers of The New Colossus. It launches on November 7, priced at $40 (the game itself comes out on October 27). You can pre-order it on Amazon or through your local comic book store (via Polygon).

The New Colossus is on the way to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A sequel to The New Order, the game puts players once again in the role of B.J. Blazkowicz as he bands together with some new and familiar faces to overthrow the Nazi regime in America. We have a complete breakdown of the game's debut trailer to give you a better look at what you can expect from the bloody and bizarre new title.

A follow-up to The New Colossus could happen, as Machine Games has said it sees the series as a trilogy. For now, you can check out all of GameSpot's previous coverage of The New Colossus here.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD Getting Removed From Steam Very Soon

By Eddie Makuch on Jul 11, 2017 11:24 am

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, the update to the classic skateboarding game, is going to be removed from Steam very soon, it seems. A post on Steam (via PC Gamer) explains that Pro Skater HD will be "retired from the store" on July 17.

The game is marked down 80 percent, discounted to $2 until the delisting happens. There was no reason provided for why Pro Skater HD is being removed, though the game's use of licensed music could have something to do with it, as it could pertain to rights issues.

No Caption Provided

Pro Skater HD is also marked down nicely on Xbox 360 and PS3, however, there is no word as of yet if the game is also being delisted on consoles.

GameSpot's Pro Skater HD review scored it a 6/10. "The skateboarding is nearly identical to that of the first few games, and the career mode remains every bit as playable as it was when those games first came out," reviewer Shaun McInnis said. "But the essence of a franchise doesn't make a complete game, and Pro Skater HD's overall package is a modest and meager one that fails to capitalize on that foundation."

Marvel's new TV show New Warriors has found one of its leads. Milana Vayntrub, who you may know from those AT&T commercials, will play Squirrel Girl on the anticipated live-action program coming to Disney's Freeform.

Vayntrub's Squirrel Girl is described as a "totally empowered fangirl who has the incredible powers of a… squirrel. Her greatest quality is her optimism and her best friend is a pet squirrel, Tippy Toe."

Additionally, Freeform confirmed that Derek Theler will play the role of Mister Immortal, while Jeremy Tardy plays Night Thrasher. Callum Worthy plays Speedball, Matthew Moy portrays Microbe, and Kate Cormer plays Debrii.

"We're so lucky to have assembled such a diverse and incredibly talented cast," executive producer Jeph Loeb said in a news release. "We can't wait for the fans to see what's in store when we unleash these iconic characters into the world!"

The show is expected to premiere in 2018, though a date has not been set as of yet.

Pitch Perfect and Twilight star Anna Kendrick previously talked about how she would like to play Squirrel Girl.

Star Wars: New Han Solo Movie Images Leak From Set

By Eddie Makuch on Jul 11, 2017 07:26 am

Some images from the set of the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo movie have leaked online. TMZ has posted images that show off Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo as well as Chewbacca. We also see Woody Harrelson's character, Beckett, standing alongside Solo and Chewie. Additionally, a woman in a dress (possibly Emilia Clarke?) can be seen.

Go to TMZ to see all the images.

Earlier this year, Disney fired the Han Solo movie directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, after their vision and process reportedly clashed with Lucasfilm's. Disney has brought on Oscar-winner Ron Howard to take over for Lord and Miller.

According to TMZ, the shots it acquired are from before Howard took over directing duties for the Han Solo film.

The untitled Han Solo film also features Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Michael Kenneth Williams. TMZ caught up with Disney CEO Bob Iger recently, and he didn't say one way or the other if the movie will be delayed as a result of the directorial changes.

Officially, the Han Solo film is scheduled to come out in 2018.

The next Star Wars movie is The Last Jedi, which comes out in December. The film picks up directly after the events of 2015's The Force Awakens.

A new update for Valve's classic shooter Half-Life has been released, some 19 years after the game originally came out in 1998.

The official patch notes don't mention anything that sounds all that exciting, but the fact that the game is being patched at all this long after release is notable. Specifically, this update fixes a number of crash scenarios, with the patch notes giving special thanks to the people who sent in the bug reports.

The Dark Knight, Inception Director Wants To Make A 007 Movie

By Eddie Makuch on Jul 11, 2017 05:32 am

Christopher Nolan, who directed Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and Inception, has said he would like to make a James Bond movie someday.

Speaking to Playboy (via Variety), Nolan said he would "definitely" like to take on the gig when the time is right. He added that he's even spoken to producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson about it "over the years," but it hasn't worked out as of yet.

"I deeply love the character, and I'm always excited to see what they do with it," Nolan said. "Maybe one day that would work out. You'd have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they're getting along very well."

This is not the first time Nolan's name has come up in discussions about directing a Bond movie. Tom Hardy, who has starred in some of Nolan's films, said he would like to see Nolan direct a 007 movie someday.

In other recent Bond news, a report this week claimed that Daniel Craig is interested in coming back to play 007 in Bond 25. The same report said Broccoli is interested in having singer Adele return to sing the theme song for the next Bond film.

Director Sam Mendes, who made Skyfall and Spectre, has already confirmed he won't make the next Bond film. It's also been reported that Bond writers Robert Wade and Neil Purvis have been hired to write Bond 25.

Nolan's next movie, the War film Dunkirk, opens on July 21. Watch the latest trailer here.

New Lion King Movie Casts Its Zazu

By Eddie Makuch on Jul 11, 2017 05:11 am

Disney's new Lion King movie has found a voice actor for Zazu. According to The Hollywood Reporter, comedian and late night TV host John Oliver will play the role.

In the 1994 original Lion King, the stuffy and strict Zazu is a side character who is Mufasa's advisor of sorts. He was voiced by Rowan Atkinson in the original film. Oliver is the host of HBO's Last Week Tonight and he also had voice roles in The Smurfs and its sequel.

This is just the latest big casting announcement for the new Lion King movie. Other actors performing voice roles in the film include Donald Glover (Simba), James Earl Jones (Mufasa), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), and Billy Eichner (Timon). Singer Beyonce is reportedly being eyed to voice Nala.

The new Lion King's story was written by Catch Me If You Can and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' Jeff Nathanson. It's directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Jungle Book).

The new Lion King, which opens in July 2019, has big shoes to fill, as the original made more than $968 million at the box office and won multiple Academy Awards, in addition to a pair of Grammy Awards for its soundtrack.

HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm Is Coming Back In October

By Eddie Makuch on Jul 11, 2017 04:36 am

HBO has announced the premiere date for Curb Your Enthusiasm's ninth season. It will arrive on October 1, the premium network announced on social media.

A wonderful poster for the ninth season has also been released, proclaiming about series star Larry David, "He Left. He Did Nothing. He Returned." This is surely a reference to what David said last year when Curb was renewed; he said, "In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned.'"

Season 8 ran all the way back in 2011, so this is the longest it's ever been between new seasons of the much-loved comedy (via IGN).

David reprises his role in Season 9, with other returning cast members such as Jeff Garlin and Richard Lewis expected to come back. Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham will appear in Season 9 as "someone who has very colorful language," she told TVLine.com.

Are you looking forward to Curb's ninth season? Let us know in the comments below!

"Exciting" Crackdown 3 News Coming This Month, Here's When

By Eddie Makuch on Jul 11, 2017 04:05 am

Microsoft isn't finished making announcements about Crackdown 3 just yet. The company has announced that there will be a panel for the game at San Diego Comic-Con this month where "exciting new Crackdown 3 news" will be announced.

Crackdown 3 senior narrative designer Dave Mongan, senior art director Dave Johnson, and design director Clint Bundrick will be on the panel, along with "a special guest panelist." They will also discuss the "behind-the-scenes development of Crackdown 3."

There is no word yet on who the special guest might be, but wouldn't it be great if it was Terry Crews, who plays a lead character in Crackdown 3? I think so.

The Crackdown 3 Comic-Con panel will also include a Q&A session. It's moderated by Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb, and takes place Saturday, July 22, from 11 AM to 12 PM PT. We'll report back with any big news as it's announced.

Crackdown 3 launches alongside the Xbox One X on November, and it also plays on Xbox One, as all Xbox One games are playable on Xbox One X. The game is also coming to PC.

Destiny 2: Here's An In-Depth Look At One Of The Beta Maps

By Eddie Makuch on Jul 11, 2017 03:47 am

With Destiny 2's beta coming up next week, a new video for one of the beta's Crucible maps has come online, showing it off in great depth. In the IGN video below, Destiny 2 environment artist Coolie Calihan talks shows off the map Endless Vale, which is set on Nessus, one of Destiny 2's new locations. One thing to note about this footage is that Power Ammo shows up immediately in this video, though it won't work like that at launch.

You can see more Endless Vale videos on IGN's YouTube page covering Warlock gameplay and Sentinel Titan gameplay. In another video, Bungie shows off how Destiny 2's Control mode is changed for Destiny 2, with this video spotlighting it on Endless Vale.

Destiny 2's beta starts on July 18 for PS4 and July 19 for Xbox One, first for people who pre-order the game. It then opens up to everyone on July 21, wrapping up on July 23.

The beta lets you try the opening story mission, called Homecoming, as well as the Inverted Spire Strike mission. In Crucible, you can try two modes, Control and Countdown. Additionally, the new social space, The Farm, will be playable for a period of time.

Some services won't be online yet, however. The beta won't support Destiny 2's Clan features, character progression won't be representative of the final game, and characters will be wiped before the game is released. If you participate in the beta, you will get a special emblem.

Recently, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said Destiny 1 didn't release content fast enough to meet players' expectations. To address this, Activision is bringing in more studios to work alongside Bungie on Destiny 2.

In other news, Sony has announced a Destiny 2 white PS4 Pro system that launches in Europe alongside the game and includes a copy, among other bonuses.

Dark Knight Trilogy Being Remastered In 4K

By Patrick Faller on Jul 11, 2017 03:12 am

Director Christopher Nolan has confirmed he's remastering some of his previous films, and the Dark Knight Trilogy will be available in 4K resolution in the future.

In an interview with Bad Taste Italia, Nolan took a break from promoting his latest film Dunkirk to talk about why remastering his films to give home audiences the 4K experience matters to him, particularly in 4K with HDR.

"It gets closer to the resolution we shoot films in...so as home video formats keep evolving, particularly 4K with HDR, it allows us to give somebody in the home an experience that's much, much closer to what it was like to see the original film prints as projected on film, and I think that's a very exciting process," said Nolan. You can watch this part of the interview (in English) below.

Nolan said his films have been shot in 6K (with IMAX films being shot in 18K) and this next step for his films is a "wonderful" development. He also said he's very involved in the remastering process, but didn't give any hints on just when you'll be able to pick up your own 4K versions of the Dark Knight films. We're following the story and will report back as soon as a release date for the remastered films is announced.

Ex-Street Fighter Dev Working On "Deceptively Simple" 2D Fighting Game For PS4/PC

By Patrick Faller on Jul 11, 2017 03:00 am

[UPDATE] A crowdfunding page for Fantasy Strike is now available on Fig. The developers are looking to raise $500,000 by August 25. You can learn more here on the funding page.

The original story is below.

Whether you're a long-time fan of 2D fighting games or new to the genre, Fantasy Strike is promising its gameplay will appeal to you. Developer Sirlin Games, whose founder was a designer on Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, is raising money on Patreon for the game.

Fantasy Strike's controls will all be single-button press, with a unique system for countering certain attacks. If your opponent goes to throw you, letting go of your controls will trigger a punishing move called a Yomi Counter. However, attempting this leaves you vulnerable to non-throw attacks. The developer says it's emphasising player decisions over dexterity, letting you do special movies easily to avoid difficult-to-execute techniques throughout the game.

"You also don't have to worry about doing moves with 1/60th of a second accuracy, as is common in fighting games. In Fantasy Strike, anytime you try to do a move, we automatically repeat your input for 8/60ths of a second to make sure it comes out, every time. The hard part should be deciding if you want to do a move, not in getting it to happen once you've decided," said the developer. Get a look at some of the beautiful early gameplay below.

The game is still in pre-alpha development, but so far there are eight playable characters (all from the card-style fighting game Yomi) and four levels with more in the works. There are several game modes, including arcade, local versus, and training mode (with online play starting this month).

"We're boiling down the genre to the fundamentals and cutting out everything that we don't need. Our game is so simple to play that even if you don't normally play fighting games, you still might love Fantasy Strike. And for fighting game veterans: this is a tournament, esport game," Sirlin Games said.

Anyone who contributes at Silver Level ($10/month) or higher gets access to the pre-alpha game and future updates. Fantasy Strike is scheduled for release in Q3 2018 and is being developed for PlayStation 4 and PC.

Splatoon 2's Clunky Headset Up For Preorder

By Kevin Knezevic on Jul 11, 2017 02:51 am

Hori is releasing its officially licensed--and rather clunky--headset for Splatoon 2 in the US. The headset is available to preorder now on Amazon and launches alongside the colorful team-based shooter later this month, on July 21.

The "Splat & Chat" headset is modeled after the one worn in-game by male Inklings. It features a removable mic as well as interchangeable decorative plates. With the headset, players can communicate with their teammates during online matches while also listening to audio from the game, though the setup looks rather cumbersome; the headset plugs into the top of a squid-shaped splitter, which is then plugged into both the smartphone and Switch itself. You can see more pictures of the headset, taken from Amazon, below.

Voice chat in Splatoon 2 is facilitated through the Nintendo Switch Online app, a dedicated smartphone app that is a central component of the console's online service. A "limited" version of the app is rolling out the same day that Splatoon 2 launches and will let players chat with one another and set up private matches. The app also features a game-specific service called SplatNet 2 that tracks player stats and displays a stage schedule for the title's different online modes.

Nintendo broadcast a Nintendo Direct focused on Splatoon 2 last week. In addition to giving fans a refresher on the game's single-player and Salmon Run modes, the presentation revealed some more details on new weapon types and maps that will appear in the game. Nintendo also announced it plans to support the game with free DLC for a full year after it releases and will hold two full years of Splatfest competitions. Players can take part in the first Splatfest, which is being held one week before the game launches on July 15, by downloading the Splatfest: World Premiere demo from the Eshop.

The Splat & Chat headset retails for $30. The Nintendo Switch Online app will be free to download and use throughout the rest of the year, but players will need to pay a monthly subscription to play Switch titles online when Nintendo's online service rolls out in 2018.

Nintendo Switch Update For NBA Playgrounds Out Now After Troubled Development

By Alex Newhouse on Jul 11, 2017 02:02 am

When NBA Playgrounds launched on Nintendo Switch back in May, it didn't have online functionality. Although it featured several offline modes, developer Saber Interactive said that it would patch in online support a few days after release. It took far longer than the studio anticipated, however. Two months after the game's Switch launch, the update is finally available today.

The patch is primarily focused on adding online multiplayer functionality. You can now compete in ranked matches for spots on a leaderboard. In addition, with the Challenge feature, you can challenge any other player to a match. "All you have to do is agree on a code, open the online mode, switch to Challenges, enter that code and face each other," the developer said in a message to Switch users.

The patch also includes a substantial overhaul to the shooting system. "We've redone the timing, added a meter, and clarified the entire system," Saber explained. In addition, 15 new players have been added to the roster, such as Isaiah Thomas and Dennis Rodman.

Due to the patch's delays, Saber president Matthew Karch announced in June that the studio will give away free Switch copies of the upcoming game Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn to every Switch player of NBA Playgrounds. The update took a long time to be released for a number of reasons, some of which are apparently due to Nintendo restrictions, according to Facebook posts from Karch. "Future patches will need to be handled differently on Nintendo actually than on the other platforms, and we are designing a new system to bring it up to parity," he said.

Today, Karch also hinted at upcoming changes for the other versions of the game. "We have a major update for all platforms that we can soon announce now that patch one is out of the way on Switch," he stated.

You can read more about the game in our 6/10 review here.
