Luke Cage Season 1 spoilers ahead!
Netflix's Luke Cage Season 2 is very nearly upon us, and you might be excited to start binge watching the second it launches. But it's been a while since we last caught up with Luke and the residents of the MCU's Harlem. It's been almost a year since the first season of Defenders dropped, and almost two since Luke Cage season 1. But don't panic--we've got you covered. Here's everything you need to know if you're looking to jump right into season 2 without going back and revisiting everything that came before. And if you want to know more about Luke Cage Season 2 before its release on Netflix this Friday, June 22, watch the latest trailer and read about the new season's secret weapon.
1. What's Luke Up To?
When we left Luke at the end of Season 1, his cover had been blown and his identity as ex-con Carl Lucas exposed, and he was arrested for escaping prison--but don't panic! In Defenders, we saw his name cleared by Foggy Nelson, allowing him to finally walk free without the ominous weight of his past looming over his head. Still, Harlem is largely in chaos. Luke may be a free man now, and one who isn't actively keeping any secrets, but his position as Harlem's hero is anything but solid. Luke's left to figure out exactly where he fits into the jigsaw puzzle that makes up his neighborhood's complicated network of communities now that the whole city knows exactly who he is and what he can do. Being functionally invincible may paint a target on Luke's back 24/7--and while Luke may be invulnerable, the people around him are less fortunate.
2. What happened to Misty Knight?
In Season 1, we watched as Misty Knight slowly transitioned from intrepid NYPD detective bent on solving the mysteries surrounding Luke Cage's identity to one of Luke's closest and most reliable allies--though the two of them don't always see completely eye to eye in their methods. Misty set her sights on criminal mastermind Mariah Dillard and her associate Shades, but was ultimately unable to prove their guilt. Later, during the events of Defenders, she lost her right arm saving Claire Temple from a scheme designed by the Hand. She was last seen recovering in a hospital owned by Danny Rand. She may be down, but she's far from out. Misty's been seen in season 2 promos sporting what looks like a prototype of her bionic arm, a staple of her character's comic book counterpart, so she's obviously going to be heading back into the fray very soon.
3. Who's Mariah Dillard again?
Mariah was an ongoing element of Season 1, a dirty politician turned full on gangster when she brutally murdered her cousin Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes. Thanks to her powerful connections (and the expertise of Hernan "Shades" Alvarez) she managed to dodge all legal fallout from her actions and even try to frame Luke Cage for the deed. The subsequent investigation and fallout nearly cost Luke his life and ultimately sent him back to prison. Mariah formed a temporary alliance with Diamondback, who she wound up framing for Cottonmouth's murder when things began to fall apart in earnest. With her ice cold business sense and willingness to do whatever it takes to get her way, Mariah managed to avoid all consequence for her actions in the first season and, by the look of things, is back to try her hand at becoming Harlem's queen once and for all.
4. What's up with Diamondback?
Unlike his fellow snake-named villain Cottonmouth, Willis "Diamondback" Stryker actually did survive the first season. Following his framing by Mariah, Diamondback was sent back to prison, where doctor Noah Burstien--the person responsible for the experiments that gave Luke his powers--offered Diamondback the chance to "become stronger." We have yet to see Diamondback in any promotional material for season 2, but it's clear he's not totally off the table.
5. Who's Shades?
Hernan "Shades" Alvarez is a man of many allegiances. After working with both Cottonmouth and Diamondback, Shades decided to align himself with Mariah at the end of Season 1. Shades has a personal stake in Harlem's future, despite his hard-to-pin-down motives--he was a close associate of the infamous Mama Mabel Stokes growing up, which is what lead him to both Cottonmouth and Mariah's inner circles as an adult. Shades is a tricky person to pin down, and although he ended Season 1 in Mariah's pocket, it's difficult to imagine him staying there for too long. He prefers to be on the winning team, even if he has to get his hands dirty to get there.
6. What about the rest of the Defenders?
Things didn't end especially well for the newly formed team after their first official outing. Sure, they put a stop to the Hand, but they "lost" Matt Murdock in the process (he didn't actually die, but they all think he did). We've seen Jessica in the post-Defenders world in her second season, and she doesn't seem to have (or want) much to do with her fellow superheroes. We last saw Danny Rand stepping up to patrol Hell's Kitchen in Daredevil's absence, which will make it pretty easy for him to drop by Harlem when Luke needs him for season 2. What, exactly, Danny is going to be doing when he shows up is still very much up in the air. Luke and Danny did have some heart to heart moments in Defenders, but they're still a ways off from having the Power Man & Iron Fist raport of their comic book counterparts. Though she's not "officially" a Defender, Colleen Wing, master martial artist and Danny's current girlfriend, is also set to appear in season 2. We last saw her visiting Misty in the hospital after she lost her arm. The two apparently became friends, as we've seen the drinking together in a recent season 2 trailer.

We're now just days away from the Westworld Season 2 finale, and the show spent its penultimate Season 2 episode looking backward. How many timelines is that? Oh, whatever. We learned a lot about Bill this week--how he sees himself, and who he really is. The decades in the park finally exacted their ultimate toll on him, if the episode's conclusion is to be taken at face value. If you care at all about these characters, then it was devastating to see. Let's take a look at the things we learned in Westworld Season 2, Episode 9, "Vanishing Point," and discover what they might tell us about the impending Season 2 finale.
1. Juliet was an alcoholic.
We learned in this episode that Bill's wife, Juliet, was an alcoholic. That evidently contributed to the family's troubled dynamic.
2. This scene was teased in episode 1.
In the Season 2 premiere, we saw a brief glimpse of Dolores telling a Ghost Nation warrior that not all of the hosts deserve to reach the Valley Beyond. Finally, in the penultimate episode, we saw the full breadth of that conflict. It's too bad something as simple as an ideological disagreement caused so much destruction among the hosts.
3. Clementine has become death.
The last Delos engineer standing has loaded Clementine with admin privileges and the ability to spread absolute chaos. This is not going to end well for the hosts.
4. Emily wanted in on the immortality project.
Was that her motivation all along? It's plausible, but it just seems like there's more going on here.
5. Bill and Ford had an agreement.
"Delos stays out of your stories, you stay out of the valley." Clearly Ford didn't stick to his part of the deal.
6. The Valley Beyond is really called The Forge.
It's what the Cradle was for hosts, except for the park's guests--a backup of their minds on a vast server. That's according to Bernard, at least.
7. The hats were scanning guests all along.
To collect the data on guests' minds, Delos needed scanners. But where were they? Bill revealed this week that they were in plain sight all along. The cowboy hats guests got upon entering house brain scanners that collected all the data Delos needed for the project.
8. Juliet didn't know what Bill really did in the park.
Billy, as she liked to call him to annoy him, had plenty of demons that he tended to let loose inside Westworld. His wife, Juliet, didn't believe her brother Logan's warnings, despite Bill's suspicions that she could see the darkness inside him all along.
9. Juliet was in rehab.
She was not a fan of it.
10. Juliet killed herself because she saw William's Westworld profile.
He's not real; he's just the best at faking it.
11. Bill is human?
So, uh, how about those four gunshot wounds huh?
12. And he's completely lost his mind.
Just because you're human doesn't mean you're sane. Bill is so lost in the delusion that this is all for him, that he apparently just murdered his own daughter. No coming back from this.
13. Maeve was Ford's favorite.
Ford did intend her to leave the park at the end of Season 1. When she came back, he apparently gave her the admin privileges that allowed her "superpowers" to flourish.
14. Ford unlocked Maeve's "core permissions."
Hopefully she wakes up and kills that douche engineer.
15. Bernard just deleted Ford.
Or so it appeared. Goodbye Anthony Hopkins, for good this time?
16. Bill seems to suspect he's a host.
Why else is he digging around on his arm in all these flashbacks?
17. This is all Dolores's fault.
You just had to change Teddy, didn't you?

Assassin's Creed Odyssey
It might have been leaked by merchandise, but this iteration of Assassin's Creed has been confirmed to be at this year's show. Titled Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the game will be set in Ancient Greece and allows you to play either a male or female Spartan warrior protagonist. It'll also include dialogue choices and naval combat. Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC | Release Date: October 5, 2018
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is the latest game by Dontnod Entertainment. It takes place in the universe of Life is Strange, and puts you in control of a young boy who's greatest talent is his imagination. He thinks of himself as a superhero and explorer who fights against evil forces on his journey. Its events and characters are directly connected to the upcoming second season of Life is Strange. Babylon's Fall
Babylon's Fall is the latest game by famed studio, Platinum Games. Based on the reveal trailer, the upcoming project appears to be fantasy-themed action game. You appear to play as a knight with unique magical abilities. Platforms: PS4, PC | Release Date: TBA 2019
Control

Dead or Alive 6
Kasumi, Hayate, Helena, and plenty of other familiar faces return to the arena in Dead or Alive 6. This fighting game will continue to utilize the franchise's staple complexity when it comes to combos and counters, while upping the realism of its visuals. Two new mechanics, Fatal Rush and Break Gauge, shake up the combat by introducing an easier way for beginners to compete. Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC | Release Date: Early 2019
Déraciné
Déraciné is an upcoming PSVR game from Dark Souls developer, FromSoftware. As a spirit summoned by a young girl in a secluded boarding school, you must prove its existence and build up bonds with other students through subtle interactions. Platforms: PSVR | Release Date: TBA
Devil May Cry 5
After years of waiting, we're finally getting a brand new Devil May Cry game. And in a rather surprising twist, it's a direct continuation to the first four Devil May Cry games. The debut trailer mainly focused on returning protagonist, Nero, who appears to be accompanied by an unnamed woman. However, the last few seconds indicated that Dante will return too. Doom Eternal
Doom Eternal is the upcoming sequel to the critically-acclaimed Doom reboot from 2016. The game takes everything that the previous game did and pushes it forward: the Doomslayer is more powerful than before, the number of enemies have doubled, and it takes place on Earth. Dying Light 2
In the sequel to the first-person apocalyptic survival shooter, players will have plenty more chances to practice their sweet parkour while killing zombies. The Elder Scrolls VI
Bethesda finally announced the next game in the Elder Scrolls series: The Elder Scrolls VI. No other details about the game were provided outside of a short teaser. It shows a mountainous region and some fog accompanied by a version of the iconic Dovahkiin music. A setting wasn't specified, although fans are sure to do some sleuthing to narrow down the list of possibilities. Hopefully, we'll get more details sooner than later. FIFA 19
FIFA is consistently one of the biggest releases of the year, and in a year where a World Cup will attract many new fans to the sport, FIFA 19 will likely be no different. The game will boast the UEFA Champions League license after primary rivals PES and Konami lost the rights to all UEFA club competitions earlier this year. The news means FIFA has a near monopoly over the world's major soccer licenses, including the 2018 World Cup, which came to FIFA 18 just recently. Hitman 2
Hitman 2 is taking its assassination simulator to new locations, like a Miami racetrack, but unlike the previous game, these will not release episodically. IO Interactive promises even more methods of taking out targets this time around, so we're curious to play around with Agent 47's new killer options--and track down the mysterious Shadow Client. NBA Live 19
The latest basketball game from EA Sports was revealed; NBA Live 19 shows some new features like dances, emotes, player customization, and a bunch of fresh kicks. Nioh 2
In a rather surprising announcement, Sony announced the sequel to the critically-acclaimed samurai-action game, Nioh. Not much is known about the game's story or if you'll be playing as the original's protagonist, WIlliam Adams. Platforms: PS4 | Release Date: TBA
Overcooked 2
Overcooked 2 is serving up more chefs, more kitchens, more recipes, and more co-op madness. You can group up with friends or go it alone to cook up a storm, chopping, steaming and frying your way through levels that keep you on your toes. Online multiplayer can bring four chefs together to save the Onion Kingdom once again. Developer: Ghost Town Games | Release Date: August 7
The Quiet Man
The Quiet Man is a brand-new game where you play as silent protagonist who appears to be deaf. The brief trailers showed him getting into a fight and quickly dispatching two hooligans in an alleyway. As the title implies, the game's mechanics will likely involve silence and sound in some manner. According to Square Enix, more information concerning The Quiet Man will be revealed in August. Sea of Solitude
Sea of Solitude is an upcoming EA Originals game about a lonely girl whose emotions manage to turn her into a monster and the world into a flooded post-apocalyptic world. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is the upcoming Star Wars game created by Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the well-received Titanfall series. It takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope during the Jedi hunts. Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC (Expected) | Release Date: Holiday 2019
Twin Mirror
Dontnod Entertainment is partnering with Bandai Namco to bring Twin Mirror, a new psychological thriller, to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2019. Based on the E3 2018 trailer, the story focuses on a character named Sam who wakes up one day to discover a shocking amount of blood on his clothing with no memory of the cause. As Sam attempts to piece together the events from the night before, he will explore both the real world and surreal manifestations of his own psyche. Twin Mirror looks intriguing so far, but being one big mystery, we'll have to wait until we see more of the game to get a grasp of how we ultimately fit into Sam's harrowing investigation. Unravel II
Unravel 2 focuses on the adventures of Yarny, a small, woollen toy. According to developer Coldwood, the sequel will be a more upbeat affair than the original, with a slight shift away from puzzler and towards the platformer end of the spectrum. Yarny is more agile than before, and this is utilized in some of the story mode's trickier sections. New to experience this time around is the addition of drop-in / drop-out co-op play. Wolfenstein: Youngblood
Wolfenstein Youngblood is set in an alternate 1980s Paris and follows the events of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. It stars series protagonist BJ Blazkowicz's twin daughters, who are working together to continue the fight against the Nazis. The game can be played solo or co-op. When Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park hit theaters back in 1993, no one had seen anything like it. Sure, Spielberg was mining the same brand of monster movie tension he did with Jaws 20 years earlier, while Michael Crichton's source novel was essentially his '70s movie Westworld reworked with dinosaurs instead of mad robot cowboys. But the dinosaurs were the big draw, and immediately set a new standard for visual effects. Never before had any big movie monster been represented so brilliantly on-screen. By modern standards there were in fact relatively few digital shots in the movie, and many of the dinosaur effects were performed using physical on-set animatronics. But Spielberg's ability to combine these older techniques with the pioneering digital work created something truly amazing--and utterly believable. As the series continued--with The Lost World (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), and Jurassic World (2015)--the visual effects have gotten more sophisticated, but the draw of the movies remain the same: incredible dinosaurs, usually hunting down humans--some big, some small, some friendly, and others terrifying. So with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom set to hit US theaters this week, here's a look at all the dinosaurs in the series so far, ranked in order of how awesome they are.
20. Apatosaurus
This gentle, majestic beast sadly doesn't get to do much but be prey for the rampaging Indominus Rex in Jurassic World. The Rex attacks a herd of Apatosaurus, and slaughters them, leaving only one fatally wounded survivor.
19. Ceratosaurus
The Ceratosaurus has a cool horn but doesn't get to do much. No sooner does it make its debut appearance in Jurassic Park III, than it's off again, having smelt the giant pile of dinopoop that Dr. Grant and the Kirby family are inspecting.
18. Pachycephalosaurus
The rather tricky pronunciation of this dinosaur's name leads The Lost World's hunter Roland Denbo to nickname one of his captured prey "Friar Tuck." Cloned versions also appear in Jurassic World, butting heads as entertainment for visitors (and dislodging their tracking implants in the process, allowing them to easily escape).
17. Corythosaurus
Corythosaurus means "helmet lizard," which is a very cool name. But sadly it only gets to appear once, glimpsed briefly in the background of the Jurassic World III scene where Velociraptors are chasing Billy to get their eggs back.
16. Parasaurolophus
This distinctive herbivore makes regular appearances throughout the series, most notably when one of their herd is cruelly captured by the hunters in The Lost World.
15. Triceratops
One of the Jurassic series' most famous dinosaurs, these creatures look tough but are docile and peaceful. The Triceratops in the first movie is best known for both being sick and providing dung-related comic relief, while a Triceratops kid becomes Pteranodon prey in Jurassic World.
14. Mamenchisaurus
This huge, long-necked beast features only briefly in The Lost World, but it's in a cool shot, as one of the hunters rides his bike between the creature's legs.
13. Stegosaurus
One of the most famous of all the dinosaurs, the Stegosaurus is the first creature seen in The Lost World. Dr Harding almost gets eaten by one when she gets too close to take some pictures. Don't mess with Steg.
12. Gallimimus
The star of one of the first movie's most famous scenes, the Gallimimus are crucial to introducing us the amazing creatures on Isla Nublar. As Dr Grant and the Murphy kids roam the park they encounter a flock of Gallimimus racing towards them to escape the hungry T-Rex.
11. Dimorphodon
A flying menace, the Dimorphodon were residents of Jurassic World's aviary, and escape when the Indominus Rex smashes its way into their home. They are smaller than Pteranodons, but it's equally scary when both species go on an airborne rampage after being set free.
10. Brachiosaurus
The first dinosaur encountered in the entire franchise. This huge beast is seen by Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler upon their arrival on Isla Nublar, and the sheer scale and grandeur of this encounter remains an incredible moment of cinema.
9. Spinosaurus
The Spinosaurus is one of the biggest of all the carnivorous dinos, dwarfing even the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The power of his creature is demonstrated in Jurassic Park III, when it takes on the T-Rex and wins. Unfortunately, later in the movie it also swallows a satellite phone, allowing its potential human prey to escape every time it gets near them.
8. Dilophosaurus
The Dilophosaurus really only has one key scene in the series, but man, it's a good one. While attempting to smuggle dinosaur embryos off the island in Jurassic Park, crooked programmer Dennis Nedry disables the park's security, allowing the dinosaurs to roam free. He encounters the terrifying Dilophosaurus, which spreads its colourful trill and sprays him with venom, before devouring him. Bye Dennis!
7. Compsognathus
It might be small, but the Compsognathus is seriously deadly. These little critters bite hard and attack in massed groups, quickly overcoming their prey with sheer speed and numbers, as hunter Dieter Stark discovers in The Lost World.
6. Mosasaurus
This 18-meter aquatic creature was created for the park in Jurassic World and placed in a 3 million gallon pool for the entertainment of visitors. Being submerged in water means it can't cause quite as much mayhem as its dino-colleagues, but it does still get a couple of snacks, firstly unfortunate employee Zara Young, and in the final scene, the rampaging Indominus Rex.
5. Ankylosaurus
These awesome armored beasts are only glimpsed briefly in Jurassic Park III, but get more screen time in Jurassic World. As Zack and Gray are trapped upside down in their gyrosphere, an Ankylosaurus fights to a brutal death with the Indominus Rex, while the rest of the herd runs off.
4. Pteranodon
These flying predators have memorably intense scenes in both Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World. Their long, razor-sharp beaks and ability to swoop down upon their prey make them one of the scariest dinosaurs in the franchise. The Jurassic World sequence in which a group of Pteranodon toss poor Zara Young around in the air before dropping her into the mouth of the Mosasaurus in particularly nasty.
3. Indominus Rex
The biggest attraction in Jurassic World, the Indominus Rex is the terrifying genetic hybrid of a variety of dinosaurs species, including the T-Rex and Velociraptors, plus creatures like tree frogs and vipers. As inclined to hunt for sport as much for food, we learn that originally there were two of these creatures before one, er, ate his own brother. This bad, mad beast is responsible for most of the chaos in Jurassic World, before he is ultimately stopped by Blue, the T-Rex, and the hungry Mosasaurus.
2. Tyrannosaurus Rex
The baddest beast in the Jurassic universe, the T-Rex features in some of the scariest, best known scenes in the series. But it's also something of a hero, and essentially saves the day at the end of the original movie. After spending the next couple of decades living wild on the island, the T-Rex returns for Jurassic World and plays a crucial part in defeating the Indominus Rex.
1. Velociraptor
No dinosaur is more closely associated with the Jurassic series than the 'Raptor. Strong, fast, intelligent, and deadly, they are the true dino-villains of Jurassic Park and play a big part in both The Lost World and Jurassic Park III. And of course, Jurassic World provides the first heroic Velociraptor in the shape of Blue, who has been trained by Owen Grady.
