It wouldn't be E3 if a number of surprises didn't leak in advance, but even so, this year has been particularly leaky. Nearly all of this weekend's biggest announcements were spoiled early, from Ninja Theory's new game, Bleeding Edge, to Elden Ring, From Software's rumored collaboration with Game of Thrones author George RR Martin. Nintendo's own E3 press conference is still to come, and it appears the company is taking measures to ensure no secrets spill out ahead of time, as it has reportedly threatened legal action against a well-known leaker.
Twitter user Sabi, who has accurately leaked details from Microsoft and Bethesda's press conferences before each one aired (including Keanu Reeves' appearance in Cyberpunk 2077 and Xbox Scarlett's technical specifications), revealed they had received a cease and desist letter from a lawyer representing Nintendo (via Eurogamer). Sabi has since said they will not leak anything from the Nintendo Direct, although they assert they'll continue leaking non-Nintendo secrets.
I have been given a cease and desist from a lawyer representing Nintendo. They have my full name and everything. This means I'm not allowed to post any private trade secrets from Nintendo co ltd. This does not mean I cannot post things from other companies, but not Nintendo.
Nintendo's E3 Direct is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST. The company recently confirmed the broadcast's runtime--roughly 40 minutes. We also know Nintendo will reveal the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character during the Direct; game director Masahiro Sakurai confirmed as much in a video message following Nintendo's Smash Ultimate World Championship on June 8.
Beyond that, however, Nintendo hasn't said much about this year's Direct. The company teased the broadcast will focus on Nintendo Switch games coming in 2019, and it confirmed Luigi's Mansion 3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening will all be playable on the E3 show floor, so they'll all presumably get some time in the spotlight during the Direct.
At the E3 2019 PC Gaming Show, Shenmue producer Yu Suzuki appeared on stage to debut a new trailer for Shenmue 3. Though the game was recently delayed, Suzuki reiterated that the work is almost finished.
In a Kickstarter update, Ys Net also revealed that the game will be an Epic Store exclusive. "In looking for the most enjoyable experience on PC, it was decided together with Deep Silver after much discussion that the Epic Games Store would be the best distribution platform option," the note reads.
If you have yet to catch up with Shenmue series, you can through Xbox Game Pass. The service recently announced a new set of Game Pass titles and both Shenmue and Shenmue 2 were among them. Both of them are currently available, giving you plenty of time before Shenmue 3's new November 19 release date.
Chivalry 2 is a full sequel to 2012's Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, and is again being developed by Torn Banner Studios in collaboration with Tripwire.
The devs compared Chivalry 2's battles to the one found in Game of Thrones' seminal Battle of the Bastards, so expect piles of dead bodies. The trailer certainly showcases this with 64-players hacking at each other on a chaotic battlefield--the first game only supported 24-players. You can ride horses now, too, and the combat system has been completely reworked to add more variety and ideally fix some of the cheap exploits players have taken advantage of in Medieval Warfare.
Chivalry 2 is coming in early 2020, and will be available first on the Epic Games Store.
It was exciting stuff, but you might still be wondering where all the new gameplay footage was.
During E3 2019, gameplay footage is only being shown to the press behind closed doors and to the public on the show floor. It's understandable if CD Projekt Red doesn't want to dilute Cyberpunk 2077's impact by revealing too much, given that it previously showed a trailer at E3 2018 and then a hefty 48-minute chunk of gameplay the following August. Miles Tost, one of the game's level designers, also noted how iterative the game development process is, and how this causes things to change all the time. Tost says, "What we have now might not be there tomorrow. We've had ideas that have died over the years then they've been resurrected then they've died again and now they're back." As a result, CD Projekt Red would prefer to show the game only when they have something refined, polished, and presumably set in stone.
However, if you're one of the many millions of people who can't make it to E3, have no fear. Reddit users have done some digging and unearthed a secret message hidden within CD Projekt Red's unboxing video for the collector's edition of Cyberpunk 2077. The message reads: "For now, the demo is only available to the lucky ones who managed to get tickets to E3 and the rest of you will have to wait until Gamescom or the public dev Q&A unveiling stream at PAX in August."
The message continues, "Yeah, we can already feel the bashing you're gonna give us online. 'Why is the gameplay not being released right away?' The reason is we want to make the most out of the months of work we put into the demo and first showcase gameplay live at E3 and Gamescom. Releasing gameplay right away would make the Gamescom presentations pointless and would significantly limit our chance to build hype. Why do we need to build hype? To get more gamers interested in Cyberpunk 2077 and, hopefully, convince them to give it a go. We are putting our hearts and souls into making Cyberpunk 2077 a great game and we would like as many gamers as possible to find out about it and experience its amazing story."
Keanu Reeves probably built up more than enough hype, but you can see where they're coming from. Now the wait till August begins.
In the meantime, you can check out GameSpot's full coverage of E3 2019 for the latest breaking news.

E3 2019 has been weird. In the lead-up, a grey cloud hung over the show, threatening to rain on everyone's parade. Dour discussions around companies like Activision and Sony having either a reduced or no presence dulled some of the show's luster, and an avalanche of leaks just days before the press conferences kicked off stole some a lot of thunder. With most of the cats out of the bag, all eyes turned to Microsoft's press conference.
And in some regards, Microsoft's press conference was definitely exciting. Most notably because Keanu Reeves, the undisputed perfect human being, was revealed to be in Cyberpunk 2077. But still, we all wanted to see the new Xbox Scarlett, and instead, we got Microsoft telling everyone that hard drives are cool and RAM is fast.
The grey clouds seemed ready to unleash a wet and warm shower of disappointment on E3 2019. And then the Bethesda press conference happened. Ikumi Nakamura took to the stage, and like a beam of light from the sun, she cut through the miasma to energize and uplift us all. Nakamura arrived on stage to introduced Ghostwire Tokyo, a new game developed by Tango Gameworks, the studio behind The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2.
Nakamura casually strolled onto the stage with an enthusiastic, "Yayyyyyyy." Followed immediately by, "Wow, wow, wow, so many people." Obviously, Nakamura was feeling overwhelmed by the amount of eyes that were on her, but at the same time, she stayed cool, calm, and collected.
Nakamura's minor case of stage fright belies her experience in game design and development. Though she may not be a familiar name or face to the greater video game fanbase as a whole, she has been involved in the creation of some of the most beloved games of all time, including Okami and Bayonetta, and of course The Evil Within.
Over the course of a few minutes, Nakamura's earnestness and excitement won hearts and minds. She admitted her nervousness, said she's give speaking English--which she is doing for our benefit--a solid shot, and then delivered a charismatic pitch for her new "spooooooky" game. People are vanishing in Tokyo, and we the player must find out why, unraveling conspiracies and delving into the occult along the way. She promised we'd meet spirits that were [ominous voice] "dangerous" and [playful voice] "peaceful." We'll need to ask ourselves what's normal and paranormal.
"I ask myself this every time I go to the office," she added, looking slightly dejected, before following up with, "Just kidding." And at this point, the internet was sold: Ikumi Nakamura became our new queen.
Ikumi's time on stage ended with her striking an energetic pose and asking everyone to check out the trailer for her new game, which 1) Wasn't leaked before the show 2) Looked intriguing. And with that, Ikumi became the undisputed star of E3 2019. Sorry Keanu!
She has an incredible pedigree AND I admire the ability to get on a major stage and present in a language that isn't your first language while maintaining the most infectious energy
Lemme introduce to you Ikumi Nakamura: A gift to Earth FinALLy people have stopped sleepin' on her taleNT Protect at all costs plz #E3#E32019pic.twitter.com/5gaF9GXt5F
since Bethesda's show is now unbearable to watch, here's everyone's new heartthrob Ikumi Nakamura's footnote in The Evil Within art book pic.twitter.com/r0HBSC92Ti
If you're looking for something new to watch this week, and Amazon, Hulu, and Shudder don't have what you're looking for, there is plenty of new content to check out on Netflix. This week kicks off with a fun animated movie, which you'll want to check out if you missed it in theaters.
On Tuesday, June 11, the Wreck-It Ralph sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet, comes to Netflix. The 2018 film follows Ralph and Vanellope as they head into the internet to find a replacement part for the Sugar Rush arcade game. In GameSpot's review of the film, Mike Rougeau said, "Ralph Breaks the Internet is a funny, detailed look inside the online world that viewers of all ages should enjoy. Its take on internet culture is just not very nuanced, which doesn't come as a total surprise. After all, there's no pleasing everyone."
One of the more interesting new releases this week is the Netflix original series, Jinn. The first Arabic series from the streaming service centers around a Jordanian high school, where two Jinns have taken human form and having a supernatural war among the teenagers. The global trailer does have some heavy teen-drama elements, but this could be a fun, new take on the genre.
Finally, Adam Sandler has a new movie coming to Netflix on Friday, June 14, called Murder Mystery. He and Jennifer Aniston star as husband and wife headed to Europe on vacation. However, during their trip, they are framed for murder, and the two have to figure out who the real killer is. The trailer for Murder Mystery looks like a bit more light-hearted version of Murder On The Orient Express.
Below, you'll find a complete list for everything coming to Netflix this upcoming week.

Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is back with a brand new, dark fantasy world, this time created in collaboration with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin: Elden Ring. Developer From Software revealed the new title in a cinematic trailer during Microsoft's E3 2019 presentation. This was just the initial reveal, so official details about the game itself and when we might get our hands on it are still scarce. Publisher Bandai Namco has confirmed, however, that the game will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and you can pre-order it for consoles right now.
Typical for the first reveal of any new From Software game, the trailer was mostly cryptic, creepy nonsense. The eponymous Elden Ring "commanded the stars" and "gave life its fullest brilliance," but was shattered by "someone or something." The trailer is punctuated by someone forging (or perhaps un-forging) something we can't see, stony cracks radiating across their back from the effort. Any allusion to forging rings of power obviously evokes Tolkien, and the whole thing generally has a dark, mythic fantasy feeling that's very much in line with the Dark Souls series. Pre-E3 leaks suggested that the game will have an open-world format in which the player journeys through various kingdoms, slaying their rulers to take on their unique powers.
If you're ready to pre-order Elden Ring, you've come to the right place. We've gathered all the information you need to decide which version of the game to get and where to get it to find the deal that's right for you. As more retailers list their options, we'll update all the details here.
Elden Ring Pre-Order Bonuses
No pre-order bonuses have been announced at this time.
Elden Ring was one of the most exciting games shown off at Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference. The game is a collaboration between From Software and George RR Martin, but it was only announced on stage for Xbox One and PC. Fortunately, publisher Bandai Namco has now confirmed the game will also launch on PS4.
"Elden Ring is the iconic collaboration between two giants of fantasy, George RR Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki," the company wrote on Twitter. "Coming to Xbox One, PS4, and digital PC." The latter part of the quote seems to confirm the game will not receive a physical launch on PC.
Elden Ring sees you travel throughout a massive open world, exploring multiple kingdoms that are each ruled by a powerful entity. Defeating said rulers gifts you with their power. The pre-rendered trailer shown at E3 doesn't reveal much else--other than the fact there are lots of arms--but it establishes the game's bleak and mysterious tone, which is essential to any From Software game.
The game is the first of two unannounced titles From Software has been working on for the past few years. The second game remains a mystery. For more on the biggest gaming showcase of the year, check out the full E3 2019 press conference schedule.
Musician and director Rob Zombie has directed a variety of brutal, gory horror movies over the years--including two Halloween movies and the seriously freaky Lords of Salem. But for many fans, his first two films remain his best. House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects fully embraced the grindhouse feel of 1970s exploitation cinema and focused on a trio of psychotic degenerates--Captain Spaulding, "Baby" Firefly, and Otis Driftwood. The gang are now back for Three From Hell, and Zombie has released the first teaser from the upcoming horror movie.
Not surprisingly, the teaser is styled like an old-school exploitation trailer. It starts by reminding us of the three murderous anti-heroes, played once more by Sid Haig, Sheri Moon-Zombie, and Bill Moseley, and shows us brief clips from the previous movies. It then delivers the first footage from Three From Hell, including Baby in jail, Spaulding laughing maniacally, and a sinister masked figured firing a machine gun in a church. It doesn't explain how the trio made it out alive from the avalanche of bullets that met them at the end of The Devil's Rejects, but given the title, it could be that they didn't actually survive. Check it out below.
Three From Hell also stars Danny Trejo (Machete), Emilio Rivera (Mayans MC), Richard Brake (Kingsmen: The Secret Service), and Dee Wallace (ET: The Extra Terrestrial). The film doesn't yet have a release date, but the trailer states that it will arrive later in 2019. Let's face it, October is a good bet for this sort of thing.
In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Zombie stated that the film wouldn't just be a copy of The Devil's Rejects. "The second was so different to the first one, and I wanted the third one to be different yet again," he said, via Bloody Disgusting. "If you're just retreading the same movie for a profit, that's a bummer."
Following the conference, Microsoft reassured fans the shooter was indeed coming to its current-gen machine. In a post on the Xbox wire, the official blog's editor-in-chief Will Tuttle listed Halo Infinite for Project Scarlett, Xbox One, and Windows 10.
Halo Infinite was shown off for the first time since E3 2018 with its new trailer, but we still haven't seen any gameplay. We subsequently learned the game will stay dark until E3 2020, so we won't be learning much about the game until next year. What we did find out is that the game will focus on Master Chief, whose primary focus will be "mysteries surrounding the appearance of The Pilot and the desolate remains of a Halo ring." Microsoft also reiterated that Infinite runs on 343 Industries' "next-generation" game engine, known as Slipspace.
Halo Infinite and Xbox Scarlett will launch Holiday 2020. A more specific release date was not shared, nor were any further details on what to expect from the game. Take a look at more news from E3 2019--as well as the remaining scheduled press conferences--below.
It's almost the halfway point in June, and while you may be running out of things to binge on your favorite streaming service, don't worry because every week, there's something new to watch. This week, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and the horror-themed Shudder all have tons of new content for you to check out.
Starting with Amazon Prime Video, there are only a few new selections this week. First, on Thursday, June 13, the Natalie Portman/Ashton Kutcher comedy No Strings Attached hits the service. A day later, the 2009 crime drama starring Jamie Fox and Gerard Butler Law Abiding Citizen releases. It's a light week for Amazon.
Over on Hulu, there is quite a bit more to choose from. On Monday, June 10, you can watch Christian Bale look unrecognizable as former Vice President Dick Cheney in the 2019 film Vice. If you're looking for a TV season to binge, you have to check out Syfy's 12 Monkeys. All of Season 4 arrives on Saturday, June 15. However, avoid I Still See you on June 11. It has a decent premise, but the movie is abysmal.
Finally, Shudder has a couple of new movies to give you the heebie-jeebies, both releasing on June 10. First is Hagazussa, which is the story of an orphan in a 15th century Alpine village who uses her supernatural abilities to reign terror on the cruel. Additionally, the 2013 movie Here Comes the Devil follows two children who go missing in some Mexican caves for an evening. They return the next day, but something sinister has changed within them.

However, that didn't stop Bethesda from dedicating time to the not-too-distant future either. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is just over a month away, and a violent new gameplay trailer has revealed some new details amidst all of the quick-cuts between frenetic Nazi-killing action.
Unlike any other game in the long-running series, Youngblood is a co-op shooter that can be played in single-player with an AI companion or in multiplayer with a friend. It's set two decades after the conclusion of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and takes place in an alternate reality version of 1980s Nazi-occupied Paris. Usual protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz has gone missing, so it's up to his equally proficient daughters, Jess and Soph Blazkowicz--the "Terror Twins--to find him.
Aside from the new dual protagonists, the most interesting aspect of Youngblood is the introduction of co-op to the series. Combat in recent iterations of Wolfenstein has had a distinct feel and flow to it that now has to account for two powerful killing machines. The fast-paced trailer doesn't signify if stealth will be returning as a viable option, but the sight of a gruesome melee kill would hint that you'll be able to sneak through missions in tandem.
As far as new weaponry goes, the trailer shows off some advanced tools of Nazi-killing destruction. There's an electricity gun that sets enemies on fire like the taser in Syphon Filter (a Tesla Cannon, perhaps?), rapid-fire Uzis that can be dual-wielded, and a Magnum Pistole that's capable of popping skulls with relative ease. The "Terror Twins" are also wearing power armour similar to the one B.J. donned in The New Colossus, so there will probably be a degree of customisation between the two characters when it comes to selecting special abilities.
We'll know more on July 26, 2019 when Wolfenstein: Youngblood is released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

The latest X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix, hit theaters this weekend and scored the lowest opening for a movie in the entire mutant superhero series. The film opened at No.2 and made an estimated $33 million in its first three days on release. This is well below the last X-Men movie, 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, which debuted with $65.7 million, which was itself considered a disappointment at the time. Dark Phoenix did better overseas and opened with $45.6 million in China, to bring the worldwide total to $107 million. Nevertheless, considering the negative reviews and the fact that the X-Men series is eventually expected to be rolled into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is almost certainly the last movie featuring the current cast.
The animated The Secret Life of Pets 2 claimed the No.1 slot this weekend, with an estimated $47.1 million. Although the film did top the chart, this was also an underwhelming result compared to the impressive $104.3 million that the first film took in 2016, which remains a record opening for an original animated film in the US. However, it is worth bearing in mind that the reported production budget of Pets 2 was less than half of that of Dark Phoenix ($80 million compared to $200 million).
There were no other new entries in the Top 10 this weekend. Last week's No.1, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, dropped into fourth place. Its domestic gross now stands at $78.5 million, and as Box Office Mojo notes, the film may have trouble breaking the $100 million barrier in the US. Its predecessor, 2014's Godzilla, made $136 million in the US.
Elsewhere, Disney's live-action remake of Aladdin moved down one place to No.3, while the musical Elton John biopic Rocketman fell to No.5. In the lower half of the chart, the Blumhouse-produced horror Ma and action sequel John Wick: Chapter 3--Parabellum, are at No.6 and No.7 respectively, while Marvel's hugely successful Avengers: Endgame is at No.8. The movie has now taken $824.3 million in the US and $1.90 billion worldwide.
You can see the full Top 10 list for the June 7-9 US box office below, as compiled by Box Office Mojo.
Fortunately, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has since reassured fans that Scarlett will indeed include a disc drive. He told GamesIndustry.biz that physical games are a part of the company's future and went on to say: "We know that people still have discs. So even when we put out things like the Xbox One S All-Digital edition, we are very clear with the name because I am not trying to confuse anybody, that if you are somebody that has a library of discs, or that's the way you want to acquire the content, then you should buy the Xbox One S, not the Xbox One S All-Digital... which is why we put it in the name, and yes I know it says SAD.
"I want to be very descriptive, because I am not trying to confuse anybody about what the options are. I want to give people choice, and right now physical is a choice that millions of people love."
The Xbox Scarlett console, or whatever it ends up being called, will launch in Holiday 2020. Pricing was not announced. But what we do know is that Halo Infinite will also release in Holiday 2020, presumably as a launch title for the new console.
The highly anticipated PS4 exclusive Persona 5 Royal launches for PS4 later this year in Japan, but Westerners need to wait until next year. Fortunately, we now have a new trailer to tide us over that showcases some never-before-seen aspects of the game.
The video reveals the game's English voice cast. The fan favorite Phantom Thieves return from Persona 5, plus the voices behind the game's two new central characters have been revealed. They are Laura Post (Octopath Traveller, The Evil Within), who stars as talented gymnast and new playable party member Kasumi Yoshizawa, and Billy Kametz (3%, Marvel Avengers Academy), who plays Shujin Academy's counselor and new confidant, Takuto Maruki. You can watch the trailer above.
Aside from the new characters, Royal differs from the original game by adding a third semester in the storyline along with extra events. There will also be new story beats towards the end of the game to help flesh out the conclusion.
This trailer comes not long after another one, which showcased Kasumi in battle, as well as her awakening and more. Much like Persona 4 Golden, this looks to be a significant expansion on the base version of Persona 5.
Persona 5 Royal launches exclusively for PlayStation 4 in Japan on October 31, 2019 while the West will have to wait until sometime in 2020. For more on the game, check out our in-depth breakdown of the full Persona 5 Royal trailer that was revealed earlier this year.
CD Projekt Red is treating a fan who created a social media moment at Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference to a free copy of Cyberpunk 2077. And it all revolves around--who else?--Keanu Reeves.
After a cinematic trailer that revealed Reeves appears as a character in Cyberpunk, the actor took the stage to talk about his involvement with the project. At one point he called the future-city "breathtaking," at which point an excited fan shouted back, "you're breathtaking!" Reeves responded in kind, creating a sweet moment that immediately went viral.
The shouter was Peter Sark, a YouTuber who tweeted about the event. The official account for Cyberpunk replied informing Sark that his call-out had earned a free copy of the Collector's Edition.
And it got you a free #Cyberpunk2077 Collector's Edition on top! Check your DMs.
The Collector's Edition retails for $250 and includes a lot of physical and digital items, including a metal pin set, a statue of the game's protagonist, sticker bomb set, game soundtrack, digital art book, and more. Check our Cyberpunk 2077 pre-order guide for more details.
E3 2019 is in full swing and FIFA 20 has been announced, but back here in the UK it's last year's football title, FIFA 19, that's reaping the rewards. The existing FIFA game has risen to No.1 in the UK physical sales chart for the week ending June 8, according to sales monitor Chart-Track.
Following closely behind at No.2 is PS4 exclusive Days Gone. In fact, PlayStation titles are littered throughout the chart, thanks in part to Sony's Days of Play sale. Spider-Man finishes at No.3, for instance, while Blood & Truth is at No.5 and PSVR Worlds is at No.10.
You can read the full top 10 sales chart for this week below, courtesy of UKIE and GfK Chart-Track. Note this table does not include digital sales data, and so should not be considered representative of all UK game sales.
In one of the more surprising pieces of E3 2019 news thus far, CD Projekt Red announced that action movie star Keanu Reeves has a role in Cyberpunk 2077. His character, Johnny Silverhand, was revealed in a slick new trailer for the ambitious RPG, and CD Projekt Red later confirmed the character is "key" to the story, which suggests we may see a lot of him in our time in Night City.
Reeves did the voice work and motion-capture for his Cyberpunk 2077 character, and he looks pretty fantastic. That wasn't always the case. Reeves also appeared in the 2005 video game The Matrix: Path of Neo, and, well, his character model was not as highly detailed due to graphics being what they were back then.
Take a look for yourself in the image below, which was created by Reddit Juxtaposed_Reality and posted to the /r/games subreddit.
Keanu Reeves is having quite a year. He starred in the box office smash John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum, while he also has a cheeky role in the new Netflix movie Always Be My Maybe. On top of that, Reeves voices a character in this month's Toy Story 4.
That's because Halo hasn't been a launch title for new Xbox hardware since all the way back in 2001 when Halo: Combat Evolved was released alongside the original Xbox.
Halo 2 was released in 2004, a year prior to the launch of the Xbox 360 in 2005. Halo 3 was released in 2007, which was a full six years before the Xbox One came out in 2013. Halo 5 launched in October 2015, two years into the Xbox One's lifecycle. Halo Infinite, however, will launch day and date with the new Xbox Scarlett.
Halo Infinite will be playable on the entire Xbox family of devices, as well as PC. That means it'll also play on Xbox One S and Xbox One X. Given the incredible specs of the new Scarlett system, Halo Infinite is likely to look and play best on that system (at least on console; PC players can crank it up as high as their PC will allow).
Halo Infinite being a launch title may help improve sales of the next-generation Xbox. However, unlike with previous console generations, older hardware is also supported so people will not need to buy the new Scarlett console to play it.
Project Scarlett is the name of Microsoft's wider plan for next-generation consoles, according to Brad Sams. The console discussed during the Xbox E3 briefing is the one that's codenamed Anaconda, according to Sams, while a lower-spec model known under the working title Lockhart is also reportedly in the works.
The original Halo was instrumental in helping the OG Xbox get off the ground, and Microsoft may be looking for Halo Infinite to be similarly important for Scarlett. Halo Infinite runs on a brand-new engine, Slipspace, and Microsoft might be looking to Halo Infinite to be a showcase of what the engine is capable of achieving, though this only speculation.
The new Halo Infinite trailer focused on the game's story. We saw Master Chief in a tough spot before he gets rebooted--but without Cortana. The game is a "spiritual reboot," so it remains to see what kind of story it will tell. But we do know Master Chief is the focus of it.
It might be a while before we see and learn more about Halo Infinite. Developer 343 Industries says it will stay dark until E3 2020 where it plans to talk about Halo Infinite more. It is always possible plans could change, but that seems to be the plan for now.
In recent years, Microsoft was criticized for a--perceived or otherwise--lack of exclusive content and compelling games, but those days may be behind the company. In 2018, Microsoft acquired Undead Labs (State of Decay), Playground Games (Forza Horizon), Obsidian (Fallout: New Vegas), Ninja Theory (Hellblade), inXile (Wasteland), and Compulsion Games (We Happy Few), while also creating a brand-new southern California studio in The Initiative.
At E3 2019 this week, Microsoft acquired Brutal Legend and Psychonauts studio Double Fine and created another brand-new studio to focus on developing the Age of Empires franchise. Together with Microsoft's own Global Publishing studio, Microsoft now has 15 studios under its Xbox Game Studios banner.
It appears Microsoft has now more than enough talent to release new games on a semi-regular basis. Some of Microsoft's other studios include Halo developer 343 Industries, Gears of War studio The Coalition, and mainline Forza Motorsport team Turn 10. Microsoft also has Sea of Thieves developer Rare and the Minecraft team at Mojang under its catalog of owned studios.
In a blog post, Microsoft confirmed that company veteran Shannon Loftis is heading up the new Age of Empires studio while Microsoft has hired former Warner Bros. veteran Peter Wyse to run the new Global Publishing team.
The only Xbox Game Studio without an announced project is The Initiative, which is a the Santa Monica-based studio that was only just formed last year and is only just getting started on its first title.
One of the best, most surprising reveals so far at E3 2019 has been the news that action movie star Keanu Reeves has a role in CD Projekt Red's hugely anticipated role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077. Now, we've learned a little more about Reeves' role in the ambitious new RPG from the creators of The Witcher.
Reeves plays the character Johnny Silverhand. He's described by CD Projekt Red as a "legendary rockerboy" who gets his name from the fact that he has a robotic, silver arm. Silverhand is a "key" character in Cyberpunk 2077, so we may see a lot of him.
Reeves not only provided the voice and likeness of Silverhand, but he also performed full-body motion capture. This means Silverhand will look and act like Reeves. That's good news, because as behind-the-scenes John Wick training videos have shown, Reeves is a talented actor who commits to his craft to ensure the best possible result.
In the new Cyberpunk 2077 trailer from E3, Silverhand says, "Wake the f**k up, Samurai, we have a city to burn." You can re-watch Reeves' on-stage appearance from E3 in the video embed above.

Japanese publisher Square Enix has officially confirmed that PS4's Final Fantasy VII Remake will launch worldwide on March 3, 2020. The release date announcement was made during a Final Fantasy concert held prior to the official opening of E3 2019. Square Enix will have a press conference ahead of the E3 show floor opening, but the company has also chosen to give the much-anticipated remake its own time in the limelight.
The release date was preceded by a new trailer, which you can see above. It features Cloud, Barret, and a few other familiar faces taking on the Bombing Mission from the opening of the original Final Fantasy VII. We also get to see the new-look Omnislash, which looks as cool as we remember it being way back in 1997. The major difference from the original that is shown in the trailer is towards the end, where Aerith grabs hold of Clouds hand as a strange black entity envelops them.
The Final Fantasy VII remake has had a lengthy development journey and, over the years, fans have been kept mostly in the dark. This has changed recently, as Square Enix has been delivering more information and even providing glimpses at how the game looks and plays. Most recently, Final Fantasy VII Remake was featured in a PlayStation State of Play livestream held in May.
A release date is big news, but we expect there will be more to see of the game at Square Enix's E3 press conference on Tuesday, June 11, at 6PM PT. That will also deliver the official reveal of another hugely anticipated Square Enix game, Marvel's Avengers.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Actor Keanu Reeves appeared on the Microsoft stage today to announce the release date and confirm his role in the game, and that's been one of E3's highlights so far.
During Microsoft's E3 press conference, we got a look at the adorable deer game Way to the Woods. The presentation brought a new trailer, below, which shows a doe and a fawn exploring a variety of dilapidated environments in sequences reminiscent of thatgamecompany's Journey.
Way to the Woods is an adventure game where you and the fawn are trying to get back home in a post-human world. Survival requires scavenging for food and shelter, but it seems some kind of cat god will have all the answers. While the game is developed primarily by Australian developer Anthony Tan, whose work has appeared in Owlchemy Labs' Job Simulator, the music comes from composer-duo Aivi and Surasshu, who are most known for their work on Steven Universe.
Tan initially revealed Way to the Woods as an early 2019 title, but the adventure game will now release on consoles and PC sometime next year. With appearing on the Xbox stage, it's been confirmed that Way to the Woods will appear on Xbox One and will arrive as an Xbox Game Pass title at launch.
We're still in the throes of E3 2019, so be sure to look at the full schedule to see what presentations are coming up next, and head back here for all the latest news and reveals. And check out the six biggest announcements from Microsoft's showcase.
Titles will be released over time, beginning with a beta for Halo: Reach sometime in June (the full product release is coming later), and continuing chronologically from there at points in the future. Microsoft did not say if it will release a bundle with all of the titles when they're all eventually released.
Purchased individually, it will cost you $55 USD to buy all of the Halo games within The Master Chief Collection on PC. That's not exactly a very good deal, as the package currently sells for $30 USD on Xbox One (though this does not include Reach currently).
Alternatively, each game within Halo: The Master Chief Collection for PC will be available with Xbox Game Pass for PC. The service, which launched on June 9, normally costs $10 USD/month, but Microsoft is offering it for the introductory rate of $5 USD/month, a price that is discounted even further thanks to a sale that brings it down to $1/month for new subscribers.
Players can also subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which covers Xbox One and PC. This service normally goes for $15/month, but new subscribers can get in for only $1.
Halo: Reach is also coming to Xbox One. Everyone who owns The Master Chief Collection gets the game's multiplayer content for free, while the campaign and Firefight modes will become available to buy in an add-on. Game Pass subscribers, meanwhile, get everything without paying extra.
As for Halo Infinite, Microsoft premiered an extended single-player trailer during its Xbox E3 briefing that followed Master Chief waking up in a foreign place without Cortana. For more, check out GameSpot's thoughts on Infinite's E3 2019 showing in the video embedded above.
At Bethesda's E3 2019 presentation, the studio announced a new expansion for Rage 2 aimed at making the wasteland action game wilder. Called "Rise Of The Ghosts", the pack will introduce new enemies, vehicles, weapons, and more.
The trailer showed off a mechanized walker, sand worm, low gravity cheat code, new vehicles like a skull motorcycle and Armadillo, new game modes, story, and enemy areas. Bethesda also promised that it would deliver new content on a weekly basis, all with the goal of making the game feel more unpredictable.
All of this appears primed to add some variety to a world that could use it. GameSpot's review of Rage 2 lamented that the world was fun to play in, but it left some of its potential untapped.
"I spent some time after finishing the campaign flying the Icarus gyrocopter from side quest to side quest while overlooking the vastness of Rage 2's open world. It's a gruesome wasteland with the potential to be a wide playground of opportunities to flex your robust set of abilities and weapons," Michael Higham wrote. "And at times, it gave me just that. Yet I couldn't stop thinking about how that potential was left untapped. Open world games sometimes overstay their welcome, and it's odd to see Rage 2 have the exact opposite problem."

During Bethesda's E3 2019 press conference, developer id Software showed off a new gameplay trailer for Doom Eternal, and followed it up with a video detailing the game's asymmetrical multiplayer mode. Called Battlemode, Doom Eternal's multiplayer sees one player-controlled Doom Slayer face off against two player-controlled demons.
The demons are able to summon additional allies and need to work together to overwhelm and kill the Doom Slayer. With teamwork, they can surround the Doom Slayer and kill him before he reacts fast enough. Their opponent has access to the Doom Slayer's vast array of powerful firearms, explosives, and blades. He's outnumbered, but he's also got the superior firepower. As the trailer advertises, it's strategy vs. skill.
The Doom Eternal segment of the press conference ended with the game finally getting a release date. Doom Eternal is coming to Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch on November 22. A Doom Eternal Collector's Edition was announced as well, and it includes a Doom Slayer helmet that you can actually wear.
The single-player trailer showed off more of what we've seen of Doom Eternal before: fast-paced action, monstrous demons, bloody executions, and acrobatic movement. We got to see a lot more of Doom Eternal's arsenal in action, though, both new and old. This single-player trailer is embedded within the text above.
