EA surprised Anthem fans by not giving the game an official spot on its EA Play presentation, but it did squeeze some time for the game between its FIFA and Madden NFL spots. Lead producer Ben Irving appeared for a short interview and recognized the game's weak spots while committing to continuing to work on it.
Irving said that right now the team is working with influencers and getting feedback from players about recent events and the Cataclysm. The idea right now is to gather impressions from the test server and use that to shape content going forward.
"Anthem does have a future. A very bright future, we hope," Irving said. "We've learned a lot these last few months, we really want to make the game better, we believe Anthem can be a really amazing game. We know we have some work to do, we just want to work with the community and build it together and make it the game that everyone wants it to be."
During the EA Play conference around E3 2019, developer DICE outlined new content for its large-scale FPS Battlefield 5. One of the biggest additions is the inclusion of the Pacific theater of World War II in the single-player campaign Tides Of War and in the multiplayer modes. This will be a free update (like all Battlefield 5 content updates) that adds pacific theater missions and maps as Chapter 5 this fall.
DICE outlined that it has three maps planned to incorporate the Pacific theater, one of which will be Iwo Jima. There are also some new elements coming to the game, as DICE said it's trying to capture the invasion experience and incorporate amphibious warfare with additional vehicles as US and Japanese forces hop from island to island. A classic weapon is also coming to Battlefield 5: the M1 Garand.
DICE and EA outlined a content plan for Battlefield 5 leading up to the launch of the game back in November 2018; this included new missions, maps, and modes, like the battle royale mode Firestorm. Support for the game is continuing with three new multiplayer maps: Al-Sahdan in June, Marita in July, and Operation Underground in October. Chapter 5 content is likely to hit in November as it's designated to roll out this fall.
During EA Play--the publisher's annual pre-E3 conference--EA has announced a lot of new details for its most anticipated titles and upcoming game updates, including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Apex Legends: Season 2. Among the Apex Legends: Season 2 announcements, Respawn teased what could be a Fortnite-like map-changing event.
At the very end of the trailer for Apex Legends: Season 2, there's a brief shot of what could be a dragon or dinosaur or some other form of Godzilla-like kaiju creature. It's big, it's lizard-like, and it's coming to Apex Legends. Respawn isn't ready to reveal what it is or when we can expect to see it, but the developer shared numerous details about the other pieces of new content coming in Season 2.
First up is the L-Star, another of Titanfall 2's most powerful weapons. Dropping into Apex Legends in Season 2, the L-Star is a powerful LMG that decimates enemies and easily demolishes doors. The gun is so powerful, it's exclusively only found in drops pods.
Season 2 also sees another Legend join the battle royale game. Wattson is a young woman who helped create the battle royale arena seen in the game. She steps into the ring with several electrical-based weapons, utilizing her own tech to electrocute enemies, bombard them with missiles and grenades, and plug chokepoints.
Apex Legends is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
During the EA Play event at E3 2019, the Apex Legends team teased that a certain weapon named after an African country would be seeing improvements. That of course refers to the Mozambique shotgun, a weapon that has been the subject of many jokes and memes since the free-to-play battle royale game launched earlier this year.
The Mozambique is widely regarded as a bad--even useless--weapon in Apex Legends, especially as far as shotguns go. The team didn't detail what kinds of improvements it might be seeing, but we can expect to find out when Season 2 launches on July 2. The Mozambique buff was teased alongside two new hop-ups, which can be attached to weapons to give them specific improvements or features; it's not clear if the Mozambique improvements would be through a hop-up or other means.
Respawn has made it clear previously that it knows the Mozambique is a weak weapon, but it's indicated it wants to have a wide range between the best and worst guns. Presumably, it will still remain one of the weaker weapons in Apex players' arsenal, but it could become less of a joke.
The Apex Legends segment during EA Play also gave more details on Season 2's Battle Pass and revealed the tenth legend, Wattson. A new gun was also revealed, and it's a Titanfall 2 classic: the L-Star. That appears to be the antithesis of the Mozambique, as you won't just find it in the world; it's so powerful that you won't be able to scavenge for additional ammo, either.
During the panel, Apex Legends executive producer Drew McCoy revealed that the Season 2 Battle Pass will be challenge-based, as is the case with Fortnite. Season 1's Battle Pass was notably XP-based, which many players felt resulted in a slow grind. This time, however, there will be daily and weekly challenges, and they'll stack, so you'll be able to complete them throughout the season. As a result, McCoy says players will be able to level their Battle Pass up much faster this season.
That isn't the only change being made to the Battle Pass for Season 2. This time around, Respawn has removed all of the badges and stat trackers that were "taking up space" in the Battle Pass and replaced them with three "entirely new content types." Respawn says there will also be "a lot more" skins in the Battle Pass, and players will be able to earn enough crafting metals to craft a Legendary weapon of their choosing by the time they reach level 100.
Season 2 of Apex Legends kicks off on July 2. As previously mentioned, the new season will also introduce another playable Legend, Wattson--a scientific genius and electrical engineer who can place fences down in the field. Respawn says a ranked mode is also coming to the game next season, as well as four new Legendary skins.
EA Play's presentation on Battlefield 5 focused heavily on a series of new maps coming soon to the multiplayer game.
The first map is called Marita, based on the village where the Battle of Greece began. It features a sloping mountain ridge and tight streets, with lots of hills and multi-story buildings for verticality. Allies are in control of the town, while the Axis tries to break their stronghold.
The second new map, Al-Sandan, takes place in an African desert. It's a large, wide map leaving plenty of room for air battles, and the Axis has established an air base. When you play in Conquest Mode it will have six flags, and campaign players will recognize the map from the mission Under No Flag. It's coming in Chapter 4.
Finally, the third map is Operation Underground, an underground battlefield similar to Metro from previous Battlefield games but entirely reimagined. That one is coming in October, between Chapters 4 and 5.
During the EA Play conference to kick off the E3 2019 festivities, a new Legend for Apex Legends was announced for Season 2. This tenth playable character goes by the name Wattson, though her real name is Natalie Paquette. She'll debut in the game as part of Season 2 in July, which may also bring some kind of surprise dragon.
Wattson was revealed in an illustrated story trailer narrated by her father, and he explains how proud he is that she has become a scientific genius and electrical engineer. As far as her abilities go, she can control the flow of battle with defensive electrical walls and pylons that negate incoming fire. Respawn says that she's a very different character from the rest of the roster in terms of what she's capable of and how she fits into the bigger picture. In her backstory, Wattson and her father actually built the Apex Arena, and she grew up around it. She plays a large role into the Apex Legends lore as the team tries to build out the game's story more.
If you've been out of the loop, Apex Legends is the battle royale FPS from Titanfall developers Respawn Entertainment, published by EA. The Season 2 battle pass was also detailed during EA Play; progression is now centered around completing challenges, not unlike in Fortnite. There's also a new weapon coming to the game called the L-Star, which is a callback to Titanfall 2--it's a gold-tier gun that can only be found in care package drops. Meanwhile, the game's worst gun, the Mozambique, is getting a buff.
The L-Star will only appear in air drops, which makes a lot of sense. One of Titanfall 2's most powerful LMGs, the L-Star is an energy weapon that deals tremendous amounts of damage very quickly. In the new EA Play trailer, we see the L-Star decimate enemies and easily demolish doors in seconds. When the gun launches with Season 2, the L-Star might become one of Apex Legend's most sought-after firearms.
Along with the L-Star, plenty of new content is dropping into Apex Legends during Season 2. The new season sees a new Legend, Wattson, join the arena. A skilled electrical engineer, Wattson can lock down choke points with her lightning fences. Her Ultimate ability allows her to cover her allies with a turret that buffs her tactical skill and rains down covering fire. She seems to be an excellent support option for the battle royale game.
The end of the Apex Legends: Season 2 hinted the game will see a giant change during the new season. Although it's brief, the trailer showcases a giant kaiju-like creature eyeing the Apex Legends' arena. What it is and when it will arrive hasn't been announced, but we assume the creature's arrival will signal a game-changing event for Apex Legends--something similar to the limited-time events that change Fortnite's battle royale arena. Season 2 also implements a challenge-based battle pass and a buff to Mozambique.
Respawn took the stage at Electronic Arts' pre-E3 event, EA Play, to talk all about the upcoming launch of Season 2 for Apex Legends. The updates include a new legend named Wattson, new weapon, more Legendary skins, and much more. Season 2 is dubbed Battle Charge, and it start on July 2 with a special Battle Charge event.
The centerpiece of the new season is the introduction of Wattson, a young technology prodigy. An animated short introduced her backstory, and her powers include a defensive electric wall.
The next season will be challenge-based rather than time-based, and the challenges will stack so that you can get several done over a weekend if you haven't played in a while. It will get rid of badges and stat trackers, but you will get to play with a new Ranked mode. Ranked will consist of six tiers from Bronze to Apex Predator, and you'll get special matchmaking with others of your rank. You'll even get some extra bonuses based on your rank at the end of a season.
The presentation also teased four new Legendary skins coming: Caustic (Prince of Darkness), Octane (Jade Tiger), Spitfire (Intimidator), and R-301 (Iron Rampage, at level 100, plus a gold version). The new L-Star plasma weapon is also coming from Titanfall.
Apex's segment ended with an exciting tease of a dragon or some kind of massive creature. Respawn didn't say much, but something much different is coming to the game soon.
Ahead of the many press conferences that precede E3 2019, EA is holding its annual EA Play livestream. This year, the publisher is kicking things off with Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, giving us our first look at the game's "thoughtful" lightsaber combat and other features and mechanics. The new trailers also further fleshed out Fallen Order's story, including some evidence of where it fits into the broader Star Wars canon and Rogue One in particular.
We already know Fallen Order follows Cal Kestis, a Jedi padawan that never finished his Jedi Knight training. The story takes place right after Order 66, set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Cal is in hiding from the Galactic Empire as a salvager on the Outer Rim until he's found out as a Force user (we also got a look at what Force abilities Cal has at his disposal). Now on the run, Cal seeks helps from the masked Second Sister--one of Darth Vader's skilled Jedi-hunting Inquisitors--and the Purge Troopers that now seek to kill him. And he gets it, from a surviving Jedi Knight.
Today, we learned a little bit more. Specifically, we see Cal aiding Saw Gerrera. Saw looks a lot older than his appearance in the Rebels animated series and closer to his age in Rogue One. However, he's not hooked up to nearly as many life-supporting devices or outfitted with as many prosthetics as we see in the movie. So Fallen Order takes place close to the events of Rogue One, but far enough away from it that the Rebellion's war with the Empire hasn't taken a toll on Saw yet. As a result, we might see a young Jyn Erso in Fallen Order. During EA Play, Respawn also announced that Cal would not be wrestling with the light and dark like in many past Star Wars RPGs.
Developed by Respawn--the studio behind the critically acclaimed Titanfall, Titanfall 2, and Apex Legends--Fallen Order is an entirely single-player game with no microtransactions--a welcome surprise for an EA published title. Respawn announced the Titanfall project it's working on has been delayed to 2020 at the earliest so that the focus for this year can remain on Fallen Order and Apex Legends: Season 2. Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords and Fallout: New Vegas writer Chris Avellone (who is also one of the writers for Fallen Order) has said story is "very important" for Respawn when it comes to the new Star Wars game.
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 15.
Over the course of the demo, Cal used the Force to push and throw enemies and his lightsaber. His Jedi agility also came into play for a double-jump and, we can infer, Titanfall-style wall-running. He also briefly displayed the ability to slow time. At one point he combined this power with a Force pull, slowing time for a blaster bolt but pulling a Trooper towards him at normal speed, letting the Trooper's own shot hit him in the back.
A prompt also appeared for a skill point menu, but the brief look didn't let us see inside that menu. One can expect he'll be able to unlock more Force powers or enhance the ones he already has.
New story details from the presentation implied that it could tie into Rogue One, the 2016 film that similarly takes place in-between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. We saw Cal working side-by-side with one notable character from that movie, as well as a droid cameo that sharp-eyed fans may have noticed.
As many suspected, it almost looks Souls-like. Cal has to strafe, dodge, and parry attacks that come his way. Like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, there's a posture/poise bar as well. On weaker enemies, one or two strikes of a lightsaber are all Cal needs to cut through the bar and kill his opponent. However, on stronger foes like the Purge Troopers, Cal has to slowly wear his foe's defensive posture down until he can deliver a final killing blow.
As a Jedi, Cal has access to Force powers to aid him in this regard, including Push and Lightsaber Throw. He can also rely on his fast Jedi reflexes to slow time and more easily deflect attacks and blaster bolts. Nothing in the trailer hints he has anything close to the destructive power seen in The Force Unleashed series, though. You can watch the combat for yourself in the gameplay trailer above.
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is being developed by Respawn--also responsible for Titanfall, Titanfall 2, and Apex Legends. Fallen Order is entirely single-player, with no microtransactions whatsoever--which is a pretty big surprise considering the publisher. Respawn has another Titanfall project in the works but it's been delayed to 2020 at the earliest so that the focus can remain on Fallen Order and Apex Legends' seasonal updates.
Fallen Order is the story of Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan that escaped Revenge of the Sith's Order 66. He hides from the Empire as a salvager, only to be discovered when he's seen using the Force to save his friend. Now on the run, Cal has to rely on his minimal training to escape from the masked Second Sister--one of Darth Vader's Jedi-hunting Inquisitors--and Purge Troopers. He won't be completely alone though, as Cal's journey across the galaxy sees him discovering a surviving Jedi Knight.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is scheduled to release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 15.
EA Play is in full swing, and the company has opened its annual E3 2019 press conference with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. After teasing it for months, EA has finally showcased gameplay for the upcoming Star Wars game. We got a whole new 13-plus minutes that you can watch above.
The Jedi Fallen Order portion of the broadcast is now over, but it revealed a lot about how the game will play (and more is coming on Sunday during the Xbox press conference). Respawn revealed what that "thoughtful combat" is all about and the appearance of a familiar face from Rogue One and Clone Wars. Additionally, we got a look at what Force abilities are at your disposal.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is being developed by Respawn, the developer behind the popular Titanfall franchise and its spin-off battle royale game, Apex Legends. Fallen Order is entirely single-player, with no microtransactions whatsoever--making it the opposite of EA's controversial Star Wars Battlefront II. Respawn has another Titanfall project in the works but has delayed it to focus on Fallen Order and further fleshing out Apex Legends.
Fallen Order focuses on the adventure of Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan that escaped Order 66 and now lives as a fugitive in hiding from the Galactic Empire. His life as a salvager comes to an end when he uses the Force to save his friend, revealing his identity to those who want him dead.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 15.
EA may have left the circuit of several press conferences that precede E3, but it's still a part of the show with EA Play. E3 2019 is no different, and EA has kicked off its annual show with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, providing the first official look at its gameplay and "thoughtful" lightsaber combat. Trailers also revealed how Fallen Order will tie back into the greater Star Wars universe, showcasing a few familiar faces.
Particularly, Saw Gerrera made an appearance early in the gameplay reveal and is working alongside Jedi Fallen Order's protagonist Cal Kestis. Saw is leading a charge to free Wookies on Kashyyyk which is under control of the Empire. Saw gives Cal a map to pursue this mission.
Saw first made his appearance in Star Wars lore with The Clone Wars animated series, and was an important character in the movie Star Wars: Rogue One where he was portrayed by actor Forest Whitaker.
Also of note was a droid resembling another Rogue One character, K-2SO, although this appears to be a different version.
Developed by Respawn--also responsible for Titanfall, Titanfall 2, and Apex Legends--Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an entirely single-player game with no microtransactions--pretty surprising for an EA title, but a welcome one. Respawn is also working on a Titanfall project but that's been delayed to 2020 at the earliest so that 2019's focus remains on Fallen Order and Apex Legends.
Fallen Order is the story of Cal Kestis, a Jedi padawan that never finished his training and became a Knight. The story takes place right after Order 66 is declared, putting it between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Cal hides from the Empire as a salvager on the Outer Rim, until he's discovered as a Force user. Now on the run, Cal needs to rely on his minimalistic training to escape from the masked Second Sister--one of Darth Vader's skilled Jedi-hunting Inquisitors--and the Purge Troopers. FIFA 20 contains a FIFA Street-style mode named Volta, publisher EA has revealed. The mode is a new direction for the mainline FIFA series, which has until now remained relatively realistic and straightforward in its execution. The announcement was made just prior to the start of EA Play, the publisher's pre-E3 event that takes place today, June 8. More news on the recently announced game is expected during the event.
Volta "takes football back to the streets with the authentic culture, creativity, and style of the small-sided game," EA says. It appears to be an exclusively small-sided match mode, meaning you'll play with teams of between three and five, as opposed to the regulation 11.
Volta contains a number of sub-modes, each of which is playable with male or female avatars. Volta World allows you to "build up your squad," for example, while Volta Story will see you take on the role of one player through a scripted narrative, similar to The Journey from previous editions of FIFA. Additionally, you can "take your favorite professional teams to the streets in Volta Kick-Off" or "play through Promotion and Relegation in the online Volta League." Match variants include 3v3 Rush, 4v4, 4v4 Rush, 5v5, and Professional Futsal, where "rush" indicates a game mode that excludes goalkeepers.
A single small-sided match was playable in FIFA 19's Journey Mode, but this is otherwise the first time EA has dabbled with street football since 2012's FIFA Street reboot. Volta Mode is the only real detail EA has released for its upcoming soccer title, aside from the FIFA 20 release date. More is set to be revealed during EA Play at E3 in a few hours' time.
Shinji Mikami, the creator of some of the most famous horror games of all time, has teased an E3 2019 announcement. Writing on Twitter in Japanese, the Resident Evil and Evil Within director said simply, "First rehearsal day, finished."
While the quote doesn't give too much away, it seems a rather poignant time to be rehearsing, with all the E3 2019 press conferences about to air over the next couple of days. Notably, Mikami's company Tango Gameworks is owned by Bethesda, so it's possible he may be rehearsing for an appearance at the publisher's press conference. Alternatively, Bethesda has popped up to show off its new games at Microsoft's showcases in previous years, while the publisher has also brought many of its games to Nintendo Switch of late.
As for what Mikami is working on, we're currently in the dark. Tango Gameworks has developed two games to date: The Evil Within and its sequel, The Evil Within 2. We awarded the latter an 8/10 when it launched in 2017. "Though there's some occasional technical hiccups that result in some particularly frustrating moments and weird pacing issues, this horror sequel elevates the tense and impactful survival horror experience in ways that feel fresh and exciting," wrote critic Alessandro Fillari in our Evil Within 2 review. "What this cerebral horror game does isn't totally new, but it rarely feels routine, and offers plenty of surprises. Coming in at a lengthy and surprisingly packed 15-hour campaign, the sequel does an admirable job of ratcheting up the tension and scares when it needs to, while also giving you the freedom to explore and proceed how you want. It's a tough thing to balance, but The Evil Within 2 does it remarkably well, and in a way that leaves a strong and lasting impression after its touching conclusion."
E3 2019's announcements are in full swing--as well as its leaks--and another new one is sure to get much of the internet very excited. Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator is coming to Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android soon, publisher Game Grumps has announced.
"We'll be dropping Dream Daddy for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in the very near future," the company said on Twitter. "An official release date will be forthcoming, so stay tuned!"
To celebrate the announcement, Game Grumps has made new mixtapes for each of the game's characters. The publisher also teased there might be new characters coming when the game comes to the new platforms.
Dream Daddy was first released on PC in 2017 and soon became a cult hit. The game, which came to PS4 late last year, has you play as a dad romancing other dads in your town. It's filled with dad-based puns, and at its core it has an incredibly heartwarming story about raising a daughter on your own. It's also inclusive without feeling like the diversity is just posturing; gender and sexuality issues are presented in a straightforward manner, but for the most part, the dads' narrative arcs are about fatherhood. We said it was one of the best PC games you might have missed in 2017.
This is one of what's sure to be a huge number of games for Switch at E3. We'll be keeping track of all the new ones to help you stay on top of all the announcements.

It's expected that some of the announcements coming at E3 are going to leak, but E3 2019 is looking to set a new record. Much of what's to come at the various E3 press conferences over the next few days has already been spoiled, though today's EA Play has remained notably leak-free (which could have more to say about a lack of surprises than anything else). But Friday night saw a flurry of big upcoming announcements revealed ahead of time.
This particular batch concerned published Bandai Namco's E3 lineup. The most significant of the bunch is undoubtedly the new game from From Software, reportedly called Elden Ring. A new From game would be big news under any circumstances, but this one is a collaboration with George RR Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire--the basis for Game of Thrones. The Elden Ring name and accompanying art are new, but even this leak concerns something that had previously surfaced online; previous reports already stated that Martin and From were working together on a new game.
Bandai's other leaks concerned a Ni no Kuni remaster and a new RPG in its Tales of series called Tales of Arise. It's unclear how this occurred--the three leaks were in such rapid-fire succession that it seems as if the publisher had some kind of security issue. Whatever the particulars, Bandai Namco's Katsuhiro Harada summed things up nicely:
All of this follows the very credible-looking leak of a video from Bleeding Edge, the new game from DMC: Devil May Cry and Hellblade developer Ninja Theory. And the retailer listing for Watch Dogs Legion, prompting Ubisoft to confirm the game ahead of its press conference. And Destiny 2 dataminers discovering cross-save support and a new Shadowkeep expansion that takes players back to the moon. And Baldur's Gate III, the existence of which was buried in markup code on Larian Studio's teaser website. And Death Stranding's release date, published on PlayStation Taiwan's Facebook account. And Call of Duty 2019 being a new Modern Warfare.
And so on.
This is to say nothing of other leaks that we're still waiting for clearer confirmation of, such as the next-gen Xbox console, Fable 4, Ubisoft Play, and Ubisoft's roller derby game. With more than a day to go before most of the press conferences get underway, there's still time for even more to leak.
At this rate, don't be surprised if there's nothing left to be surprised by.
In typical fashion, the pre-E3 leaks continue, but this time with publisher Bandai Namco's upcoming new Tales game. Titled Tales of Arise, the game was leaked via screenshots showing a silver-haired protagonist adorned in armor fighting fantastical beasts and exploring a large open landscape. The images can be found below.
The Tales of Arise leak was first discovered on 4chan but was since reposted on Resetera. The leak comes amid several other leaks from Bandai Namco, which includes Ni No Kuni Remastered and the previously rumored collaboration between famed fantasy author George R.R. Martin and From Software, which appears to be called Elden Ring.
No platforms have been indicated, but it's more than likely the game will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC--similar to the most recent entries in the series. If Tales of Arise is, in fact, going to appear at E3 2019, we're bound to hear about it during any of the upcoming E3 press conferences. For a full schedule of each, check out full E3 press conference schedule detailing when companies like Nintendo, Microsoft, and Square Enix are going to show off their biggest games.
In a series of pre-E3 2019 leaks involving publisher Bandai Namco's lineup, a remaster of Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has leaked. According to Direct-Feed Games on Twitter, "Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in Fall 2019." Direct-Feed Games also noted that Ni no Kuni would be coming to Nintendo Switch in Fall 2019, according to the leak, though it appears that may not be a remastered version.
This leak comes on the heels of several others, all from publisher Bandai Namco. One is the previously rumored collaboration between A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) author George R.R. Martin and From Software, apparently called Elden Ring. The other is a new entry in the Tales of series, Tales of Arise.
— Direct-Feed Games (@DirectFeedGames) June 7, 2019
The first Ni no Kuni originally released on PS3 in 2013 in the West and is known for its animation by the renowned Studio Ghibli.
It's unclear when all of this news was intended to be announced. The From Software project was rumored to be slated for Microsoft's E3 press conference on Sunday; that seems like the most likely event given that Sony is not at E3. We should know more soon--check out when everything is coming in our E3 press conference schedule.
As E3 2019 gets closer, the leaks just keep coming. The latest is a big one, confirming the rumored collaboration between From Software (Dark Souls, Sekiro) and George RR Martin, the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire series upon which Game of Thrones is based. This new leak suggests the game is called Elden Ring, and the first artwork from it has been published online. Here's what we know before its official announcement.
According to Daniel "ZhugeEX" Ahmed, who maintains a reputation for reliably confirming leaked information prior to its official confirmation, Elden Ring is a "new world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin" that is coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Miyazaki is best known for his work as president of From Software, where he's developed Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro.
While details on what the game will consist of were not leaked, we do have a leaked image of what appears to be a teaser or key art. Take a look below.
Earlier rumors involving Elden Ring (previously identified as GR or Great Rune) described the game as an open-world experience where you explore various kingdoms. Killing the rulers behind each kingdom allows you to unlock their abilities or supernatural powers.
The above image supports this rumor by depicting one giant ring of light encompassing several smaller rings, which looks a lot like one circular crown surrounding several smaller ones. There appears to be a pool of energy at the top of the image that drips down in a straight line to the larger ring, perhaps even drawing additional energy from the smaller rings it must pass through. Perhaps Elden Ring sees your hero drawing power from some mysterious source, only to amplify that power in different ways from the other rulers. Although this is speculation on our part, it would certainly fit with From Software's storytelling, as a similar backstory is used for Dark Souls III's High Lord Wolnir--a king who traveled the lands and drew power from the kingdoms he ground into dust.
This Elden Ring leak was one of several rapid-fire leaks involving publisher Bandai Namco. In a short span of time, we also learned of a Ni no Kuni remaster and the next Tales of game, Tales of Arise.
After being rumored to release late this year, the launch window for Gears 5 has been officially confirmed. As spotted by GameSpot, one of the massive posters that traditionally surround the LA Convention Center during E3 features Gears 5, and the picture reveals the game's release date will be this fall. We snapped a picture of the poster, which can be viewed below.
Gears 5's release date was first hinted at via leaked box art in May 2019 (first noticed by Generation Xbox), which also listed that the game would come out this year on September 10. The box art was eventually confirmed to be real in June 2019 (via a tweet from the Gears of War account), leading to speculation that the accompanying release date leak is also real. September 10 is in the fall, so the leak is looking more and more likely to be true. We'll have to wait and see whether Microsoft confirms that specific date during its E3 2019 press conference, though, or simply reiterates the general Fall 2019 window.
Getting a release date for Gears 5 is one of the announcements we wanted to see at E3 this year, largely because we've heard very little about the game since its E3 2018 reveal. We're also hoping Xbox plans on revealing that Gears 5 has a fairly large campaign that increases the scales set by Gears of War 4. Getting a confirmation that Horde mode is returning would be nice too, as would be clarification for Gears 5 role in the growing esports scene.
Gears 5 has been confirmed to show up at E3 and is one of the 14 first-party Xbox One titles that Microsoft plans on showcasing during its press conference. Microsoft plans on going big at E3 this year, with rumors that the company press conference will showcase the next-gen Xbox console, a new From Software game featuring a story that George RR Martin consulted on, a fourth Fable game, and a whole lot more.
Gears 5 is coming to Xbox One and PC. As is the norm for Xbox One's first-party console exclusives, the game will launch on Game Pass day one. Gears 5 stars Kate Diaz, who goes on a journey of self-discovery after the events of the previous Gears of War game.

As per usual with Nintendo during E3, not much is known about what will be shown. We are expecting to see more from the new Animal Crossing title, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Pokemon Sword / Shield, and the Super Mario Maker 2. Bayonetta 3 has been MIA for a while now, so it's possible PlatinumGames could reveal more information about the upcoming action-adventure game. Animal Crossing has not been explicitly confirmed for the show, and it's not among the confirmed playable games Nintendo has, but our fingers are crossed that it does show up during the Direct.

The Tokyo-based company's event kicks off on June 10 at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET (5 AM BST / 2 PM AET on June 11), the same time slot that Sony's press conference would typically occupy. So be sure to come back to this page to see our reactions in real-time as we cover the conference. Once it ends, we'll put together a full roundup of the hottest news out of the event.
We don't know the full slate of what Square Enix will highlight, but there are two games in particular that would make it a big event. We're likely to see more from Final Fantasy VII Remake, and the publisher has confirmed the official reveal of its mysterious Marvel's Avengers game, which recently had some details leak. The company did also tease that this year's presentation promises "another exciting lineup of titles."

However, there are plenty of other titles to look forward to from the prolific game developer and publisher. We should see a more in-depth look at Ghost Recon Breakpoint, scheduled to launch on October 4. Both Roller Champions and Watch Dogs Legion leaked prior to the conference, and it's possible these are two of three unannounced triple-A games launching early next year. Another leak, something called Ubisoft Pass, could be detailed during the conference as well.

We'll probably see something new for the recently-released Rage 2, but there's also Doom Eternal and Wolfenstein: Youngblood to be shown. There may be more announcements for Fallout 76 as well.

E3 2019 is a hectic and exciting time of year for gamers, who are basically bombarded with news and trailers for upcoming games for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Basically, it's a big hype fest about all the games and consoles you'll want to spend money on in the future, so why not save yourself some cash where you can now?
Fortunately, there are plenty of sales running around E3 this year, which is a nice perk for those of us not actually attending the event in LA. We'll keep this story updated as more deals become available, but here are all the best console and game deals we know about now.
PS4 Days of Play sale
One of the biggest sales going on during E3 is Sony's annual Days of Play sale, which is running now through June 17. The sale includes the launch of a limited-edition, steel black PS4 slim console for $300, a PS4 Pro that's marked down to $350, and PSVR bundles that start at $250 (a full $100 cheaper). Plus, you can grab a year of PS Plus for only $37.59 at Green Man Gaming and $40 elsewhere (instead of $60), and a huge batch of PS4 games are considerably cheaper as well. Some of the best deals include:
Naturally, Microsoft kicked off a big Xbox sale on the same day as Sony's Days of Play event, and the company is also debuting a new special-edition Xbox console. A gradient-purple, Fortnite-themed Xbox One S is available now, and while it will generally sell for $300, it's $50 off for a short time. The console bundle includes a matching controller, Fortnite: Battle Royale, 2,000 V-Bucks, a Dark Vertex Fortnite cosmetic set download, and a free month of both Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass.
The Xbox One S Fortnite Battle Royale Special Edition Bundle is available at multiple retailers, with the discount reflected in the price.
You can also save $100 on a new Xbox One X and get $50 off other Xbox One S bundles. The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is $50 off as well. Black, white, special-edition, and limited-edition Xbox wireless controllers are $10 off. And of course, there's a big batch of Xbox One games marked down for the occasion.
To save even more money, you can take advantage of a gift card deal at Newegg, which is offering a $100 Xbox gift card for only $88.88 for a short time. Once you receive the email with the digital code, you can redeem the gift card on any of the above deals at the online Microsoft Store. It's only an extra $11, but when it's that easy, who's complaining?
