First WWE 2K18 Gameplay Footage Showcased In New Trailer

By Kevin Knezevic on Sep 19, 2017 11:56 pm

2K Sports is continuing its steady stream of WWE 2K18 reveals. Today, the publisher released a new trailer for the game, showcasing the first footage of this year's wrestling title in action.

While the video doesn't divulge any new details about WWE 2K18, it does provide an extended look at some of the WWE Superstars and Legends from the full WWE 2K18 roster, including AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and the Undertaker. The trailer shows them and many other wrestlers performing their signature entrances and fighting in various types of matches. You can watch the full video at the top of this story.

2K recently revealed more details about WWE 2K18's expanded MyCareer mode. In this installment, players can follow one of two career paths; being a Company Man aligns you with GMs, while becoming a Fan Favorite earns you the respect of your fellow Superstars and may even reward you with your own customized championship. Additionally, this year's MyCareer mode boasts an improved promo generator, as well as a free-roaming backstage area.

WWE 2K18 releases for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 17, with a Nintendo Switch version following sometime this fall. Those who reserve the game will receive WWE Legend Kurt Angle as a free bonus, while pre-ordering the Deluxe edition allows you to play the game four days early, on October 13.

Fantastic Destiny 2 Deal Gets You The Game, Xbox One Controller, And More For $70

By Chris Pereira on Sep 19, 2017 11:39 pm

If you're considering picking up Destiny 2 for Xbox One, there's an excellent deal you can take advantage of right now. For not much more than the cost of the game itself, you can land yourself a pair of nice bonuses.

Over on Ebay (via Wario64), highly rated seller antonline is offering a $70 bundle that consists of three items: a physical copy of Destiny 2, a white Xbox One controller, and a Play & Charge kit. These are all new and in the box. The controller and charge kit (which includes a rechargeable battery pack and a charging cable) often sell for $60-$70 alone even when discounted. Considering Destiny 2 has only been out for two weeks and hasn't been discounted yet, this is at least $100 in stuff you're getting.

Free shipping is available, but we don't know how long this promotion will stick around for. If you're interested, you should act quickly. If you're wondering whether or not the game is worth picking up, you can check out our Destiny 2 review. In it, Kallie Plagge states, "It's a much stronger foundation than the original had and one that's enough on its own to keep people coming back week after week."

After 14 Years, Jean Grey Returns To Marvel Comics

By Mat Elfring on Sep 19, 2017 11:11 pm

Death isn't forever in comics. In 2003, Jean Grey died during an iconic run on New X-Men by acclaimed writer Grant Morrison. Since then, that version of Grey has been dead, but this December, Grey will return in the five-issue miniseries Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey.

The new story written by Matthew Rosenberg and drawn by Leinil Yu will follow--you guessed it--the resurrection of one of the original five X-Men: "Strange events are no surprise to the X-Men," reads the official synopsis from Marvel. "But when events start occurring that are more specific and stranger than usual, the group is forced to confront the truth: could Jean be alive after all? And how will this Jean Grey deal with a world that is now so different from the one she left years ago?"

The story is still a pretty big mystery at the moment, but the upcoming months in the current X-Men titles should shed some light on what's coming ahead. "This is very cool mystery building to a mind-warping climax," said senior editor Mark Paniccia. "And it has plenty of what you'd expect from an X-Men epic of this magnitude. Action, romance, sacrifice, lots of X-Men, and five great artists."

In addition to Yu, the series will feature five artists taking on the story. It has yet to be revealed how that is going to come into play, whether each issue will be an individual artist or all five will be featured in each issue.

Jean Grey does currently exist in the Marvel universe, as a version of her from the past has been living in the present for the past few years. However, the teenage Jean Grey doesn't have the experience, memories, or the connection to the Phoenix Force of her future counterpart.

It will be extremely interesting to see these two characters meet and find out how the adult Jean Grey reacts to her younger counterpart, the deaths of Cyclops and Wolverine, and an older Logan from a parallel world currently on the X-Men. Again, this mutant team is no stranger to the strange.

Phoenix Resurrection will hit stores on December 27, and interestingly enough, Phoenix will be returning to comics 11 months before the big screen adaptation of the legendary story The Dark Phoenix Saga. X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to release on November 2, 2018.

Free Forza 7 Demo Out Now On PC And Xbox One

By Chris Pereira on Sep 19, 2017 10:56 pm

Ahead of its upcoming release, Microsoft has released a free demo for Forza Motorsport 7. As previously detailed, it provides three different "experiences" and is available for everyone on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.

You're fairly restricted in terms of what you can do in the demo--you can't choose which specific vehicle you drive where--but there is some variety in the options presented. Players can drive the cover car, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS, on the Jebel Hafeet Pass; the Mercedes Tankpool on the Mugello circuit; or the Nissan Nismo GT-4 LM on Nurburgring.

Beyond checking out those specific races, you'll also be able to play with various assists that are available to players. More importantly, PC players can see how well the game runs on their rig, with a benchmark mode helping to determine its exact performance. Forza 7's minimum and recommended specs were announced previously, but that's not a full replacement for simply trying a game for yourself.

The Forza 7 demo is now live on both platforms. Forza 7 has a release date of October 3, although as is the case with an increasing number of games, it's not quite that simple: Pre-ordering the Ultimate Edition will allow you to start playing on September 29. You can check out the new launch trailer above.

$300 PlayStation VR Deal Now Available

By Patrick Faller on Sep 19, 2017 09:53 pm

If you've been wanting a PlayStation VR but the price has kept you from buying, Amazon has a deal for you. For a limited time, you can get nearly $100 off the price of a PS VR + Camera bundle with a special discount code.

The regular cost of buying the bundle at Amazon is $398.09, but if you type in the code PSVRSAVE you can get it for just $300. The code was tweeted by Wario64.

Most other retailers are selling the bundle for $400, so the Amazon offer does look like a good deal. It's not clear when the code will expire, so you better act fast if you're interested. Last month, Sony effectively cut the cost of the PS VR when it started selling the system exclusively with the required camera. The bundle cost the same as the previous price for the PS VR standalone headset, which you could purchase without the camera. As Sony put it, players now effectively get the camera for free.

Sony's PlayStation VR aims to be cheaper than its PC competitors, but it's still an expensive purchase, especially given you already need a PlayStation 4 in order to play. During Sony's press conference at the Tokyo Game Show earlier today, the company unveiled several of the new PS VR games coming to the system. You can watch the press conference in full here, and check out a full list of all the games and their trailers here.

Monster Hunter World Special Editions, Pre-Order Bonuses Announced

By Kevin Knezevic on Sep 19, 2017 09:45 pm

Monster Hunter World launches for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One globally on January 26, and those interested in picking it up will have a few options to choose from. In addition to the standard release, Capcom announced today that the open-world game will also be available in Digital Deluxe and Collector's Editions.

The Digital Deluxe Edition retails for $70 and comes with a variety of customization options for players to use on their hunters, including a Samurai Set skin, three gestures, two sticker sets, and an additional face paint and hair style option. The PS4 version of the Digital Deluxe Edition also comes with 14 weapon-themed PSN avatars. Capcom says all of the aforementioned items will be available to purchase separately when the game launches.

The Collector's Edition, meanwhile, runs for $150. It contains a physical copy of the game, a voucher for the customization items included in the Digital Deluxe Edition, a hardcover art book, a monster statue, and a code for a digital soundtrack, all housed in a collector's box. We'll update this story with a photo of the Collector's Edition when it becomes available.

Players who reserve the game digitally or at retail for either console will also receive the Origin Set Armor and Fair Wind Charm talisman as special pre-order bonuses. Both items "offer improved starting defense and offense stat boosts for the hunter as well as a useful gathering skill." Those who pre-order the game digitally from the PlayStation Store will receive a Monster Hunter PS4 theme. Capcom says the Origin Set Armor and Fair Wind Charm "may be made available through alternative means at a later date."

Monster Hunter World is also coming to PC later next year. Capcom released a new trailer for the game during Sony's Tokyo Game Show, showcasing World's story and some of the new monsters and areas they'll encounter during the adventure, such as the beautiful Coral Highlands.

Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid Guide: Walkthrough And Recommended Gear Tips

By Matt Espineli on Sep 19, 2017 09:45 pm

Destiny 2's first Raid has finally gone live. Titled Leviathan, this latest dungeon series is packed with an assortment of challenging puzzles and boss fights to overcome. To help you get past all of its hurdles, we've gathered useful tips to follow as well as what you need to do to access the Leviathan Raid. We're currently diving straight into the Raid right now, so be sure to check back often as we update this feature with more details on how to beat each individual section. Take note that each weekly reset shuffles the order of three major encounters in the Raid.

We're still digging deep into Destiny 2, but there are some basic things you should know (and habits from Destiny 1 you might need to break). Those include not waiting to decrypt Engrams and saving some of your Upgrade Points. You can check out more in our Destiny 2 beginner's guide.

For more guides for the game, including breakdowns of the three classes, along with our skill and ability galleries for the various subclasses, be sure to visit our Destiny 2 guides and walkthroughs roundup for more information on what's happening in the online world of the Guardians.

How to Access the Raid

In order to access the Raid, simply select the Leviathan icon in the top right corner of the Director, which you can see in the image below. You'll also want to initiate a questline called On the Comms, which is unlocked at random after having spent time killing Cabal. Once you complete its major steps, you unlock a new step called Destroyer of Worlds that requires you to complete the Leviathan Raid. Doing so will net you a sweet prize after completing the Raid.

No Caption Provided

Major Raid Prerequisites

Aside from completing the On the Comms questline, make sure your Power Level is at least 270 before taking on the Leviathan Raid. Going in with anything lower is manageable, but be aware that entering the Raid with a lower Power Level could make you a detriment to your Fireteam. It's also recommended to enter the Raid with a full fireteam of six players.

Suggested Gear

Skyburner's Oath - The Skyburner's Oath fires solar slugs that do extra damage to Cabal and penetrates Phalanx shields. This is a handy weapon to use that'll assist your efforts to take down the loads of Cabal you'll encounter in the Leviathan Raid.

No Caption Provided

Rat King - The Rat King may seem like an odd choice to bring into the Raid, but it can be a worthwhile asset given it becomes more powerful as more members of your Fireteam have it.

Leviathan Raid Guide

Part 1: Embankment

After starting the Raid, proceed forward until you'll encounter enemies. These foes won't harm you unless you shoot them; attack them or run past them. Proceed up the slope and head through the door.

Part 2: Leviathan Castellum (Part 1)

Upon reaching the Castellum, you'll begin a trial that has you claiming and defending three Standard. To accomplish this, your group should separate into two teams: one to defend the a central point where the Standard are to be taken, and another to retrieve them from their respective bearers. Keep in mind that if the Cabal manage to get too close to the central point, then the trial will restart.

Once all three Standard have been returned, a door will open up the path ahead where you'll find the first of the Leviathan Raid loot chests, containing a Legendary engram, the Calus' Selected shader, and the Emperor Calus Tokena Token.

Part 3: Royal Pools

In the next section, you'll encounter four pressure plates, with a fifth located at the center. Each of these plates has an orb on it that imbues you with a one-minute buff that protects you from environmental damage. Make sure you and your teammates activate this buff before starting the trial, as standing in the water in this area without it will quickly drain your health. Once you're ready, have four of your teammates stand on each pressure plate.

The premise of the trial is as follows: four people must maintain position on their respective pressure plates to slowly raise a weight up a chain that will expose nine lanterns that you need to destroy. But as you'd expect, powerful enemies spawn, making the process significantly more difficult. As the assault wages on, make sure you and your teammates keep re-activating the buff. Once all the lanterns are destroyed, the trial will end and a loot chest will spawn containing an Emperor Calus Token.

Part 4: Leviathan Castellum (Part 2)

The next section has you once again defending and retrieving three Standards. However, this time around the central point you must defend has switched places with one of the points in the surrounding area. Regardless, utilize the same two-team strategy to complete the trial. After you've succeeded, a loot chest will spawn containing glimmer.

Part 5: Pleasure Gardens

The next trial is trickier than the previous two. First, eliminate the enemies you see before heading towards the massive golden statue. Have two of your teammates pick up orbs and charge them at the light beams scattered around the area. An opening should appear beneath the statue; remaining members should then grab the pollen inside. The members up top must then guide pollen holders to special flower scattered around the area. But be careful, there are six Warhounds wandering the area that can make short work of your teammates if spotted. You also have a limited time to get the pollen holders to a flower before a Warhound's Psionic Howl resets your progress. Regardless, once pollen holders reach a flower, those up top must fire their orbs at the flower to imbue their teammates with a strength buff. Do this two to three times to build up enough power.

Once powered up, the pollen holders should then attack the Warhounds. But if a Warhound sees your teammates, they have one minute to damage them and retreat to the safe room below the golden statue. Rinse and repeat this process until the Warhounds are dead. Keep in mind that you only have three solid chances to defeat all six Warhounds, as the safe room will lock up after the third attempt. You'll then get Irrigation Key and a loot chest will appear on top of the safe room containing random loot and an Emperor Calus Token.

Part 6: Leviathan Castellum (Part 3)

Once again the same principle applies here. Simply utilize the same two-team strategy to obtain the Standards and complete the trial. A loot chest will spawn containing more glimmer.

Part 7: The Gauntlet

To start the trial, jump onto the round platforms to summon enemies. Steadily kill them to fill up the meter under each pillar in the room. Two orbs will eventually spawn; have two of your teammates pick them up. This transports them into tunnels in the surrounding area.

Those in the tunnel need to run through gates with rows of circles on them. Energy barriers close off these uniquely designed gates, so tunnel runners need to quickly call out which gate's row of circles has a red one. Teammates outside then have a limited time to shoot at the rows of glowing triangles on the corresponding gate that doesn't contain a red circle. Successfully doing this will open up the gate, clearing the path for the tunnel runners. The two tunnel runners converge and throw their orbs into an energy fountain.

Once you have completed this three games, your entire team can go to the middle and grab an orb and run through the tunnels. After the entire team throws their orbs into the energy fountain, the trial will end.

Part 8: Emperor Calus

After clearing the third Castellum challenge, you'll be led to Emperor Calus' throne room. To initiate the battle, shoot the cup from his hand, and he'll start spawning enemies into the room for you to fight. Eventually, Calus will teleport three players into a purple dimension to do battle with a giant projection of his head, while the other three will be left to defend themselves in the throne room. Four Psions then spawn in the throne room each with a symbol floating above them--make sure your teammates don't kill them.

Those transported inside the purple dimension will each notice a different symbol on the Calus projection's forehead. Each player needs to shout out the symbol they see to their teammates in the throne room. The players back in the real world must then kill the Psion aligned with the symbol that wasn't called out. This lowers the barrier surrounding the Calus projection's head.

The Calus projection will then begin to spew skull projectiles. When this barrage is over, orbs will spawn that can take the players back into the throne room. At this point, everyone should climb on whichever platform is glowing in the throne room in order to receive the Force of Will buff. Fire at Calus until he becomes invincible, and then move to the next glowing platform to shoot at him again. Make sure to avoid his attacks during this portion of the fight; it can instantly wipe out your team. Rinse and repeat this process until he goes down.

Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid Shuffles Things Around After The Weekly Reset

By Chris Pereira on Sep 19, 2017 09:34 pm

Each weekly reset in Destiny 2 presents you with a slate of new things to do for the week, including another batch of rewards in the Leviathan Raid. In a move that should help to keep it feeling fresh from week to week, the reset also apparently shifts aspects of the Raid around.

The second weekly reset occurred earlier today and introduces this week's Nightfall, Flashpoint, and so on. But this was the first one since the launch of the Leviathan Raid, and we didn't know exactly what to expect. As previously announced, any Raid keys you were hanging onto have been removed from your inventory, so you'll need to reacquire those each week when attempting the Raid.

But more notable is the order of the major encounters throughout the Raid. Calus remains the final boss--and that will presumably always be the case--but the three trials that precede that fight are apparently not locked into a specific setup, according to users on Reddit. Whereas the Raid's first week had you tackle the Royal Pools, Pleasure Gardens, and the Gauntlet in that order, this week presents you with the Pleasure Gardens, then the Gauntlet, and finally the Royal Pools before dealing with Calus.

The specific strategies for dealing with all of this remain unchanged, and you can consult our Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid guide for a walkthrough of everything. But this adjustment to the order has benefits for seemingly everyone. The hardcore crowd that plans to regularly run the Raid gets a slightly different experience from week to week. And more casual players who can't necessarily make it through the entire Raid yet will have an opportunity to figure out how to tackle the Pleasure Gardens this week; last week, they could only do so if they managed to complete the Royal Pools first.

Star Wars Actor Might Have Revealed When The Last Jedi's New Trailer Will Release

By Dan Auty on Sep 19, 2017 09:23 pm

We are now less than three months away from the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but to date, only one short trailer has appeared. A second trailer is much anticipated by fans, and now Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill may have revealed when they can see it.

Hamill took to Twitter to reply to a fan who asked when he could see the new Last Jedi trailer. The actor initially responded, "It's coming eventually!" But he then added, "Watch Monday Night Football on Monday October 9th--for no reason in particular." Hamill has since deleted the tweet, but you can check out a screenshot of it over at Star Wars News.

No Caption Provided

Of course, this might not be the trailer that Hamill is referring to--or he could be deliberately trying to throw fans off the scent of when it will really be released. However, Monday Night Football screens on ESPN, which is co-owned by Disney. In addition, the second Force Awakens trailer also debuted on MNF in 2015.

The Last Jedi arrives in theaters on December 15, 2017. It is directed by Rian Johnson and stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, and Andy Serkis. While we are yet to see any new footage from the film, there have been a number of vehicles and characters revealed, including these cool First Order vehicles, and this new droid, which resembles an evil BB-8.

In related news, it was announced last week that Force Awakens director JJ Abrams will return to the franchise to direct Episode IX, replacing Colin Trevorrow. The movie has also been delayed by seven months and will now hit theaters on December 20, 2019.

Additionally, each Pikachu also comes with a slightly different moveset that reflects the attacks it used at that point in the series.

You can then pick your Pikachu up from the deliveryman waiting inside any of the games' Pokemon Centers. Scanning the code will get you a different Pikachu wearing the cap that's featured in the movie.

Destiny 2 Nightfall Guide: Exodus Crash Strike And Modifiers Following Weekly Reset

By Chris Pereira on Sep 19, 2017 07:59 pm

The latest weekly reset in Destiny 2 has occurred, kicking off the next week of activities in Bungie's recently launched shooter. Among other things, that means the next Nightfall Strike is now available, as are its new modifiers, Challenges, and rewards.

This week's Nightfall is the Exodus Crash Strike. As with all Nightfalls in Destiny 2, it features a time limit, so you won't be able to approach this as you would a Strike in the first game. A total of three modifiers are active this week, one of which again offers a way to earn additional time. Timewarp: Anomalies presents a limited number of objects throughout the mission for you to shoot; each one provides an additional 30 seconds of time to finish the Strike.

The other two modifiers more directly impact combat. Attrition is a new one to Destiny 2 and limits your natural shield and health regeneration. However, enemies will sometimes create wells of Light when they're slain, allowing you to restore your health and charge your Super. Prism comes back for the third week in a row, only this will be the first time it functions correctly for the duration. During the Strike, Prism rotates through each of the three elements, with the chosen element doing additional damage (and the others doing less than usual). Following the release of the new Destiny 2 update, this now functions correctly, as the message indicating the chosen element no longer lasts for just a brief moment. Additionally, an on-screen effect helps to highlight when the element changes from one to the next. [Update: It looks as if Prism was active earlier but has been removed for this week, leaving you with just Attrition and Timewarp: Anomalies.]

As for Challenges, there are a total of three. Speed Of Dark asks you to finish the Nightfall with 5 or more minutes remaining, which will likely require taking full advantage of Timewarp: Anomalies. Unbroken requires Fireteams to die less than three times over the course of the Strike. Faster Than Lightning adds an additional wrinkle to the Thaviks fight, tasking Fireteams with killing nine Shanks with melee attacks before finishing off Thaviks.

Completion of the Nightfall rewards players with Powerful Gear rewards. This is one of the few activities to offer those, and they're among the best items you can get your hands on. It's also a reliable way to increase your Power level past 265. If you haven't made it to that point, you may want to consider waiting until after you've raised your Power level before grabbing the Nightfall reward. This Nightfall will be available until the next weekly reset, which occurs at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET / 10 AM BST on Tuesday, September 25.

If you have not yet unlocked the Nightfall, you'll need to complete two Strikes and approach the suggested Power level of 240 before Zavala will allow you to take part in them. Matchmaking is not available, but with the Guided Games beta underway, players have the opportunity to be matched up with members of a clan for the mission (which requires a Nightfall Ticket). Alternatively, clan members can sign up to serve as guides through the Nightfall (which does not require a Ticket).

Beverly Hills Cop 4 Is Still Happening, Big Star Names Being Considered

By Dan Auty on Sep 19, 2017 07:55 pm

In June last year, it was revealed that a new sequel to the classic '80s action comedy Beverly Hills Cop was in development, but there has been little news since. However, it has now been confirmed that the project is still in the works, with a couple of potential big star names under consideration.

Original star Eddie Murphy and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are overseeing Beverly Hills Cop 4, and last year selected rising Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to helm the movie. El Arbi and Fallah appeared recently on a Dutch TV show and confirmed that things were moving forward with its development.

No Caption Provided

As reported by JoBlo, the pair stated that they are still working on the script, and that it would be shot in Detroit on a relatively modest $50 million budget. They also revealed the plot would center upon the relationship between Murphy's Axel Foley, who is now a veteran LA cop, and a tough, younger officer from Detroit. Although the movie is not at the casting stage yet, El Arbi and Fallah mentioned Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum as possible names to play the younger cop.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 was originally announced in the mid-90s, and then again a decade later, with Rush Hour's Brett Ratner initially lined up to direct. The most recent attempt to revitalise the action comedy franchise was for television. A pilot focusing on Murphy's character's son was produced for CBS in 2013, but the network chose not to pick up the show.

The original Beverly Hills Cop was released in 1984, and it was the most successful movie of that year. It was followed by two sequels in 1987 and 1994.

Destiny 2 Weekly Reset Guide: What You Need To Know

By Chris Pereira on Sep 19, 2017 07:47 pm

If Destiny 2 is your first Destiny game, or you simply didn't play much of the original, one thing you may be unaware of is how certain parts of the game run on a schedule. By now, you may have noticed that certain things reset daily, but more significant are the those that happen on a weekly basis--the aptly named weekly reset.

A number of activities--and their corresponding rewards--are tied to the weekly reset. In other words, once you complete them, you'll have to wait for the following week in order to complete them again for a new set of rewards. (Among other things, that includes the Nightfall, a high-level Strike that offers some of the consistently best loot you can get your hands on.) It also means you always want to be sure those activities are finished before the weekly reset occurs.

The reset happens at a fixed time, not a week after you complete any given activity. As listed on Bungie's help site, the daily "Ritual" reset occurs at 2 AM PT / 5 AM ET / 10 AM BST / 7 PM AEST during Daylight Saving Time (March to November) and an hour earlier when we're not in DST (November to March). The weekly reset happens at that same time each Tuesday.

Each Tuesday's reset therefore serves as the deadline to finish the Nightfall, Meditations, and the Raid. It's also when certain Milestones are refreshed, including weekly Challenges, the Flashpoint, Clan XP, and Crucible's Call to Arms, as well as Clan XP rewards. Additionally, the Eververse inventory of items that can be purchased with Bright Dust changes then.

We're still digging deep into Destiny 2, but there are some basic things you should know (and habits from Destiny 1 you might need to break). Those include not waiting to decrypt Engrams and saving some of your Upgrade Points. You can check out more in our Destiny 2 beginner's guide or our roundup of Destiny 2 guides, tips, and tricks.

Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Review Roundup

By Kevin Knezevic on Sep 19, 2017 07:30 pm

This week marks the release of Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, the latest installment in the crossover fighting game series. Like previous Marvel Vs. Capcom games, Infinite pits some of the biggest characters from the two companies' histories against each other in tag battles. This time, however, Capcom has made some notable changes to the gameplay, streamlining Infinite's tagging system and introducing Infinity Stones to put a unique twist on the long-running series.

Reviews for Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite have begun appearing online, and the general consensus among critics has been positive thus far. In GameSpot's Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite review in progress, critic Tamoor Hussain says the game "represents the most significant change to the Marvel Vs. Capcom formula since its creation." We've rounded up a sample of other reviews below; for a broader look at what critics are saying about Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite, visit GameSpot sister site Metacritic.

  • Game: Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite
  • Developer: Capcom
  • Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PC
  • Release date: September 19
  • Price: $60/£50

GameSpot -- 8/10 (Review in Progress)

"The mechanics underlying Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite make it an outstanding fighting game. Capcom has understood what caused the stagnation of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3's competitive scene and, to some extent, the issues Street Fighter V currently faces. In response it has created a fighting game focused on individuality and expression, with deep systems that reward studious players but also accommodate casuals. As someone who both plays and watches fighting games, I am excited to see what the future holds for Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite." -- Tamoor Hussain [Full review]

IGN -- 7.7/10

"While Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite's tag-team fights are like a bolt of lightning from Mjolnir, its story is dreadful and its characters look like they were deliberately designed to spawn a million derpy memes. It manages to be easily one of the worst and also one of the best fighting games in recent memory all at once. Like its heroes and villains, it's stuck between two worlds." -- Darry Huskey [Full review]

Polygon -- 7.5/10

"It's hard to deny how much of a blemish Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite's visuals are, but it would still be a mistake to skip this entry for that reason alone. The fast tagging system and the Infinity Stones change up the series' standard mechanics and open up so many options for creative play, no matter your skill level. Infinite is expressive, exciting and fun to play, but the visuals inspire more eyerolls than the hype this series deserves." -- Chelsea Stark and Jeff Ramos [Full review]

US Gamer -- 3.5/5

"I came away from Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite generally enjoying the game. I think most of the players that liked Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 will be right at home here. I just feel more needed to be done to differentiate the game from its predecessor, especially in the roster department, which is a fighter's bread-and-butter. In many ways, this is a sequel, but when it comes to the roster overall, MvC Infinite feels like disappointing retread of what came before. So it's recommended for fighting fans, but temper your expectations accordingly." -- Mike Williams [Full review]

Game Informer -- 8.25/10

"Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite is a fighting game that tries to appeal to everyone, and it largely succeeds (unless you're a die-hard Wolverine fan). I occasionally cringed at the bad one-liners, but I also giggled with absurd joy every time photojournalist Frank West tossed a demigod like Thanos across a dilapidated space station. Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite isn't trying to be taken seriously; it's a series of geeky what-if scenarios that play out in spectacular aerial battles. After I embraced that, I had a lot of fun." -- Ben Reeves [Full review]

GamesRadar+ -- 3/5

"Infinite is a well-constructed, mechanically-responsive game. It doesn't feel sloppy or inaccurate, it's just... not very exciting. There's a lack of finesse to the presentation that makes everything feel Good Enough, but not more than that. Contrasted against the flashy cel-shaded art direction and over-the-top tone of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, or the silky smooth sprites and technical precision of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Infinite feels like it's just content to exist." -- Sam Prell [Full review]

Jumanji Reboot Star The Rock Posts New Teaser Trailer

By Dan Auty on Sep 19, 2017 06:49 pm

The upcoming adventure comedy Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a reboot of the classic '90s movie Jumanji, and it releases in December. A new trailer arrives this week, but ahead of that, star Dwayne Johnson has posted a short teaser. Check it out below:

The first trailer was released in June. The movie also stars Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, and centers upon a quartet of high school kids who find themselves drawn into the Jumanji game while in detention. The teens have to clean out the school's basement as their punishment and while doing so they find an old video game console that has a game called Jumanji on it. The game pulls them into an amazing jungle world, with Johnson, Hart, Black, and Gillan playing the kids' in-game avatars.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is directed by Jake Kasdan, the son of legendary Star Wars writer Lawrence Kasdan. It hits theaters on December 20, 2017.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Kasdan explained that the movie is not a remake of the original film. "Jumanji is the kind of movie that I think people shouldn't out-and-out remake," he said. "To me, a big part of its power is in the unique elements of its original execution. Within that, I think there's this central idea and mythology that's mysterious, but powerful, and commands a powerful part of the imagination.

"I was a fan of the original movie, and I felt like this [movie] really honored it, and included a lot of the stuff that I loved about the original movie, but did it in a really new way."

The 1995 original Jumanji starred Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, and Bradley Pierce. It is based on the novel of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg.

Zone Of The Enders 2 VR Announced For PS4 And PC, Includes 4K Support

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 19, 2017 03:06 pm

A virtual reality version of Konami's Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is on the way. Announced during Sony's Tokyo Game Show briefing, the game is "an enhanced version" of Zone of the Enders 2 HD, which was release for PS3. It will have "enhanced graphics," support for 4K resolution, and is playable in VR.

"All visual and aural elements have been remastered for native 4K resolution, and the action has been similarly improved with the game experience being ported to VR," Konami says in a press release. "As such, the new game retains the unique and beautiful visuals of the original title, but boasts textures in updated 4K while using surround sound techniques to offer layered and immersive audio effects."

Zone of the Enders: Anubis Mars will be out in Spring 2018 on PlayStation VR and, according to Famitsu, is also coming to PC. It's being developed by Japanese gaming giant Cygames. Check out the trailer below.

Monster Hunter: World Release Date Announced

By Oscar Dayus on Sep 19, 2017 02:20 pm

Capcom has finally revealed Monster Hunter: World's PS4 and Xbox One release date. The open-world game will launch worldwide on January 26, 2018. "A PC release will follow at a later date," Capcom has said in a press release. The company announced the news at Sony's Tokyo Game Show conference, alongside a new trailer and a collector's edition that includes a special art box, a copy of the game's soundtrack, and a physical action figure of a new monster called Nergigante.

In addition, Capcom and Sony revealed a special Liolaeus Edition PS4 Pro, decorated with some gorgeous Monster Hunter: World art. That PS4 model launches in Japan on December 7, though it has not yet been confirmed for a worldwide release.

Those that preorder Monster Hunter: World digitally or at select retailers will receive "special pre-order bonuses, including the Origin Set Armor and the Fair Wind Charm talisman." These offer "improved starting defense and offense stat boosts for the hunter as well as a useful gathering skill." All PSN preorders will include a custom PS4 theme.

Capcom has said "the Origin Set armor and Fair Wind Charm talisman may be made available through alternative means at a later date."

Monster Hunter: World was first unveiled at Sony's E3 2017 press conference with a reveal trailer. Like the recent 3DS installments, players can scale walls and leap onto monsters to attack them. The trailer also showcased many new elements, such as a weapon that resembles a machine gun and a grappling hook that allows you to swing. Players also now have the ability to fire off flares.

The game's console release date has now been revealed, but we still don't know when it will come to PC--it's definitely coming, but Capcom has only said it will be after the PS4 and Xbox One versions launch. Metal Gear Artist Working On Left Alive, A New Square Enix Game

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 19, 2017 01:15 pm

Square Enix has announced a new game called Left Alive, and it has some big-name talent behind it. Revealed during the PlayStation Tokyo Game Show briefing, Left Alive is...well, it's hard to know right now. But while details on the game are a mystery, we do know that Metal Gear veteran Yoji Shinkawa is working on the project. His artwork can be seen in the teaser above and is also featured below.

Shinji Hashimoto, who has worked on the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts franchises, is producing Left Alive, while Toshifumi Nabeshima, director of the Armored Core series, and Takayuki Yanase, mech designer on Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, and Xenoblade Chronicles X are also involved.

Based on a teaser trailer, it looks like Left Alive takes place in a world ravaged by some horrible catastrophe. The game is due out in 2018 for PlayStation 4 and PC. We'll report back with more details as they're made available.

Final Fantasy 9 Announced For PS4, Launching Today

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 19, 2017 12:57 pm

[UPDATE] The reports were right. During Sony's Tokyo Game Show briefing today, Square Enix officially confirmed that Final Fantasy IX is coming to PS4. And better yet--it's available now on the PlayStation Store. In the US, it's even available at a discount for a limited time, dropping its regular price of $21 to $16.79 until September 26.

The original story is below.

It looks the PlayStation 4 is going to add a classic Square Enix RPG soon. Gematsu noticed that The Pan European Gaming Information board (PEGI) recently rated Square Enix's Final Fantasy IX for PS4. This could signal an official announcement to come soon, though this has not happened yet.

For what it's worth, Final Fantasy IX has not been rated for PS4 by the Entertainment Software Rating Board in North America. That being said, it's not uncommon for ratings to go live on one database before another, so it may just be a matter of time.

Final Fantasy IX debuted in 2000 for the original PlayStation. The game was re-released for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PSP through the PlayStation Network in 2010. In 2016, Square Enix brought it to PC and mobile devices, and it looks like PS4 is the game's next stop.

If the listing is legitimate, it would follow than an official announcement of Final Fantasy IX for PS4--and potentially other platforms--could come soon. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

Sony's TGS 2017 briefing today also brought confirmation that Final Fantasy IX is headed to PlayStation 4 in Japan. In fact, it's coming out today in the country.

Forza Motorsport 7's First Career Races In 4K Video

By Miguel Concepcion on Sep 19, 2017 12:31 pm

The beginning of Forza Motorsport 7's Career Mode does a fine job orienting you to the wide variety of vehicles this user-friendly racing sim has to offer. Even if you've played every installment in the series--including all the Horizon spin-offs--this will be the first Forza for many. This is one of the reasons why these introductory races are thoroughly presented with verbose narration to set the scene. Not every long-running driving series has the honor of flaunting the Porsche license, so it's not surprising that developer Turn 10 Studios kicks off Forza 7 by showing off the new Porsche GT2RS. Then to illustrate the diversity of vehicle types, the competition shifts to trucks for the second race. This video concludes by showing off the challenges of driving in severe weather.

Forza Motorsport 7 is set to release on October 3, 2017 for Xbox One and Windows.

Xbox Boss Responds To The Xbox One And PS4 Cross-Play Situation

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 19, 2017 11:59 am

Recently, it was discovered that Epic's sandbox action game Fortnite allowed cross-play between Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The feature was swiftly disabled, with Epic saying it was a "configuration issue" that led to cross-play being available in the first place.

Naturally, someone asked Xbox boss Phil Spencer for a reaction to this situation. Spencer, who has openly called for Sony to allow cross-play with Xbox One, told a fan on Twitter, "I would have liked to see them leave it on."

Microsoft has not shied away from talking about its desire for cross-play support with competing platforms. Rocket League is set to work across Xbox One, Switch, and PC, while the developer of the Microsoft-owned Minecraft franchise is open to cross-play between Xbox One and PS4. For its part, Sony has said it's not going to allow cross-play for its own reasons, one of which is protecting the security of younger users.

In March 2016, Microsoft publicly announced that it was open to connecting Xbox Live to other gaming networks, including PlayStation Network and Nintendo's own online service.

Microsoft's Dave McCarthy told GameSpot at E3 this year that the company has had discussions with Sony about cross-play, but Sony is "not quite there yet."

"My hope is that they join the party as well because I think it's an awesome thing to do for gamers," he said.

Would you like to see cross-play unlocked for Xbox One and PS4? Let us know in the comments below!

The Witcher Dev's DRM-Free PC Store Launches Big New Sale

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 19, 2017 06:05 am

GOG, the DRM-free PC digital store run by The Witcher studio CD Projekt, has rolled out a new sale. It's called "The Big Deal," and it definitely lives up to its name. The promotion features more than 200 deals, some of which offer discounts as deep as 90 percent.

Here are some of the deals that caught our eye: Little Nightmares ($12.80), This War of Mine ($4.50), Age of Wonders iii ($6.60), Firewatch ($7.09), Tacoma ($12.60), The Witness ($12.60), Layers of Fear ($5), Kentucky Route Zero ($12.50), and Rime ($19). Go to the GOG storefront to see a rundown of all of the deals.

Mysteriously, GOG also says that everyone who visits GOG.com on Tuesday (September 19) will receive something "absolutely, definitely, positively special something!" We'll update this post as we learn more.

The Big Deal sale ends on September 25, at 10 PM UTC. As mentioned, GOG does not put any form of DRM on its games, which is unique given that stores like Steam and Origin protect their games with such digital rights management systems. CD Projekt has been railing against DRM for a long time now. Executive Michal Platkow-Gilewski said DRM is simply an ineffective way to stop piracy.

"Each time we are thinking about a decision, the first rule is we have to treat gamers like we'd like to be treated," he said back in 2014. We don't believe in DRM because we hate DRM. It also doesn't protect, not really. Games are cracked in minutes, hours, or days, but they're always cracked. If you want to pirate you'll find a way. But if you're a committed gamer and are buying the game why should we place a barrier on you?"

Super Mario Odyssey File Size Revealed

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 19, 2017 05:28 am

The file size for the hugely anticipated Nintendo Switch game Super Mario Odyssey has been revealed--and it's not as big as you might expect. According to Nintendo Everything, the file size is only 5.7 GB for the digital version.

This is according to a post on Nintendo's Japanese store. By comparison, other first-party games on Switch are also pretty small, with Arms coming in at 2.2 GB and Splatoon 2 at 3.1 GB.

Another point of comparison that Nintendo Everything mentions is that Super Mario 3D World, the last 3D Mario game for a home console, was 1.7 GB on Wii U.

Super Mario Odyssey launches on October 27. A new trailer broadcast during a Nintendo Direct last week showed Mario shirtless--and people had a lot to say about that. In other news, Nintendo announced an Odyssey Switch bundle that comes with a system, a copy of the game, red Joy-Cons, and a Switch carrying case with special markings on it.
