What's New On Netflix: More Movies, Netflix Originals, And TV Shows This Week (US)

By Anonymous on Sep 25, 2018 12:17 am

The last week of September sees a few more TV shows, Original series, and movies added to Netflix. There are a few noticeable titles being added, but there isn't as much as the first three weeks of September. If nothing tickles your fancy, then you only have to wait a week for October's add-ons.

Fans of The Walking Dead can finally watch Season 8 on Netflix. First debuting on October 22, 2017, The Walking Dead: Season 8 continues the escalating conflict between series protagonist Rick Grimes--now leading the group of survivors in Alexandria--and another group, called the Saviors, who force other communities to pay tribute to them. Andrew Lincoln reprises his role as Rick, and Jeffrey Dead Morgan plays Negan, the dangerous leader of the Saviors. Season 8 marks the last full season of The Walking Dead that Lincoln will be a part of as he's scheduled to leave the show in Season 9.

On September 25, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl comes to Netflix. Don't worry, this is the first film in the franchise--the one that most fans agree to be the best. The movie stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, and features equally magnetic performances from Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann. Even if the follow-up films weren't as universally loved, The Curse of the Black Pearl is still regarded as a modern-day classic for its goofy humor, charming cast of characters, and well-written story about pirates struggling to remain relevant in the face of well-armed trading companies.

You can check out our full list of series, Originals, and movies coming to Netflix in September if you need to catch up on previous weeks. Below, we've outlined everything coming to the streaming service this week.

When Does Fortnite Season 6 Start? Epic Sets Release Date

By Anonymous on Sep 25, 2018 12:13 am

Season 6 of Fortnite is almost upon us. After much speculation--and a rather bizarre turn of events related to the mysterious purple cube that has been rolling around the island--Epic has finally confirmed when the new season of its massively popular battle royale game will begin, and it's very soon.

The developer announced on Twitter that Season 6 will begin this coming Thursday, September 27. [Update: Following the release date, we have our next bit of info regarding the new season: a teaser image showing what appears to be a llama skin that might become available. You can check it out below.]

No Caption Provided

It was presumed that the season would begin sometime this week, as the official Fortnite website stated that Season 5 officially wraps up on September 25, and Epic typically kicks off a new season shortly after the previous one ends. This, however, is the first time the developer has confirmed when Season 6 will start, although it hasn't shared any additional details beyond that. Just what Season 6's theme will be, or what kind of comet/rift-style event will kick it off, is still anyone's guess.

That also makes this your last opportunity to complete any remaining challenges and unlock the rest of Season 5's Battle Pass rewards. If you need help finishing up any challenges, you can find tips for each weekly set of missions in our complete Fortnite Season 5 challenge roundup. We've also put together a gallery of all the Season 5 rewards gallery so you can see what you can unlock.

We don't yet know what to expect from Season 6, but some strange events have been unfolding in the game ahead of it. Back in August, a lightning bolts struck the desert and left a mysterious purple cube in its wake, which fans had begun affectionately referring to as "Kevin." The cube would react differently depending on how players interacted with it; standing close to it would rejuvenate players' shields, but striking it would cause them to launch backward and take damage.

Soon after it materialized, the cube began slowly rolling around Fortnite's map. It was unclear what its destination was, but last week, the cube plunged into Loot Lake and melted, much to the surprise of fans. Not only did it turn the water purple, but now the entire lake has effectively become a giant trampoline, boasting the same bouncy property the cube had. It's unclear how this all relates to Season 6, but we won't have to wait much longer to find out.

Fortnite Season 6 Teaser Might Feature The First New Skin

By Anonymous on Sep 25, 2018 12:09 am

Season 6 of Epic's phenomenally popular battle royale game, Fortnite, is just around the corner. The new season kicks off on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile later this week, but in the meantime, the studio has begun dropping teaser images to usher in its impending arrival.

As it did in the run up to Season 5, it appears Epic will share a series of teaser images leading up to the start of Season 6. The company tweeted the first one out on Monday, which presumably shows off a new DJ llama skin you'll be able to get your hands on during Season 6. "All great parties need a DJ," the tweet reads. It should be noted that Fortnite's Battle Royale mode celebrates the first anniversary of its release very soon.

No Caption Provided

Epic hasn't shared many details yet on what to expect from Season 6. The developer recently confirmed the new season officially begins on Thursday, September 27, but we don't know much about it beyond that. One thing that is safe to assume, however, is that Epic will offer another new Battle Pass when the season does kick off. The developer has released a new Battle Pass at the start of every season thus far; these could be purchased for 950 V-Bucks and leveled up as you completed weekly challenges to acquire new cosmetics and other rewards.

Some strange things have also been happening in the game itself that signal some sort of major changes in store for Season 6. Last month, a purple cube materialized on the island after the desert was struck by a lightning bolt that emerged from the giant rift in the sky. The rift has since closed, and the cube began slowly rolling around the island until it made its way to Loot Lake and plunged in, turning the lake purple and bouncy.

It's unclear what any of this means for the future of Fortnite, but every lingering question should be answered when Season 6 begins this Thursday. In the meantime, it's your last chance to unlock any remaining Season 5 rewards. That season ends on Tuesday, September 25, so you have until then to complete Season 5 challenges. If you need help finishing them up, you can find tips for all 10 weeks in our Season 5 challenges roundup.

The Walking Dead Clementine's Voice Actress Writes Letter To Fans

By Anonymous on Sep 24, 2018 11:57 pm

Telltale announced majority layoffs recently, throwing the fate of several of its series into question. Some reports indicated that The Walking Dead, its longest-running series in the current process of releasing its final season, wouldn't ever be complete. In a letter, that series' thanks fans for their support and laments we may not ever see the end of the story.

Melissa Hutchison is the voice of Clementine, who went from a young girl in the first season to the main protagonist and caretaker in her own right.

"To my knowledge, they will release Episode 2 and that will be it," said Hutchison in a statement on Twitter. "It hurts me that you, the fans, will not get to see Clem's journey through to the end. Telltale games will always be the best narrative, story-driven game company ever. No closing of doors will ever take that away."

In the latest developments, Telltale has said it will give an update on its upcoming roadmap in the coming weeks, but all indications are that most projects have been put on the shelf. The timing is particularly poor for The Walking Dead, which was critically acclaimed in its first season and helped define Telltale as a narrative powerhouse. This final season is in the midst of release, with the second episode coming this week, but we may not see any more after that--which could leave Clementine's story without a proper conclusion.

Overwatch's Torbjorn Is Receiving A Major Overhaul

By Anonymous on Sep 24, 2018 11:39 pm

Overwatch is preparing to release another major patch with various balance changes, but the most serious reworking is coming to the engineer Torbjorn. In a video detailing the changes, game director Jeff Kaplan said the team is aiming to make his functionality less narrow and situational.

When the changes go live, Torb will no longer have armor packs or use the scrap system at all. Instead, his secondary ability will change to "Overload," which will look a lot like what you currently may recognize as his Ultimate ability. It will give him a speed bonus, damage resistance, and firing rate increase.

Meanwhile his Ultimate ability will change as well. It's still called Molten Core, but instead he will shoot out pools of liquid magma. Those pools of hot metal can do area-of-effect damage, and will do extra damage against armored opponents. Finally, his turrets will no longer have build levels. Instead, they'll be permanently set at the second level, with a short build time. Torbjorn will also be able to toss his turrets into hard-to-reach places.

"The goal of all of these changes is to make Torb a more acceptable pick on both attack and defense and less map or role-dependent than he was previously," Kaplan said.

If you haven't jumped aboard Overwatch yet, Humble Bundle is offering it as part of this month's subscription, through October 5. You could get the game as well as some other goodies for just $12.

[Last Chance] Free Legendary Pokemon For September Available Right Now, Here's How To Get Them

By Anonymous on Sep 24, 2018 11:36 pm

A new month is now upon us, and The Pokemon Company is continuing its Year of Legendary Pokemon campaign with another pair of free Legendaries for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. During September, players will be able to claim one of the two Eon Pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire, Latios and Latias, but as usual, the way to get your hands on them will vary by region. [Update: The Latios/Latias distribution is set to end later this week, on September 29, making this your last opportunity to pick the Legendaries up.]

Once again, those who live in the US will need to go to a participating retailer to pick up a free download code for the Legendaries. This time, the code will be distributed at Best Buy stores around the country from September 2-29. Players in Europe and Australia, meanwhile, will be able to download the Legendaries directly from the Nintendo Network between September 1-23.

As usual, the Pokemon you receive will depend on which version you're playing. You can claim the Legendaries in any seventh-generation Pokemon game, but there's an added incentive to redeem them in the Ultra titles; not only will the Legendaries come at higher levels and know different moves, they'll be equipped with a Gold Bottle Cap, a rare item that can be exchanged to Hyper Train a Pokemon. To get the Legendary, select Mystery Gift from the main menu and choose the option to receive your gift with a code/password. Enter the download code you picked up and the Pokemon will be downloaded into your game. (Players in Europe and Australia, meanwhile, will simply need to select the option to receive their gift via the internet.) Once those steps have been completed, you'll be able to pick your Legendary up from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center around Alola.

You also still have time to redeem your download code for August's free Legendaries, Groudon and Kyogre. If you still haven't picked one up, however, you're out of luck, as codes for the Ruby and Sapphire cover monsters were only being given away from GameStop stores until August 26. New Red Dead Redemption 2 Screens Show Off Hunting And Horses

By Anonymous on Sep 24, 2018 11:02 pm

Rockstar revealed some new information about Red Dead Redemption 2 today, with a focus on the wide variety of wildlife to hunt and horses to ride. Telling isn't quite as effective as showing, though, so the studio was sure to release a new batch of screenshots as well.

This set of screens shows off Arthur hunting and fishing, finding a trapper at a trading post, strapping a kill onto his horse, and tracking a wounded animal through a snowbank. Plus we get some nice new views of Arthur with his horse, as well as wild horses that you can break and tame to become your own.

The hunting, crafting, and horse taming systems all sound pretty detailed, given the details accompanying the announcement. You'll have to be careful how you track animals and even which weapon you use to maximize the value of the pelt and meat. Not all animal interactions are violent, though; keeping your horse fed and groomed will increase its stats.

If you don't have a console to play RDR2 on yet, Sony announced a new PS4 Pro bundle that includes the standard version of the game as a freebie. For more details check out our pre-order guide.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Details Hunting

By Anonymous on Sep 24, 2018 10:23 pm

We're weeks away from the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, and Rockstar is ramping up with a steady stream of new details. Today the studio outlined the wide variety of fauna to be found in the Old West, which can be hunted, skinned, and sold in your spare time between missions.

The official blog shows several species, including deer, coyotes, wolves, vultures, eagles, alligators, bears, fish, gila monsters, and various horses. Hunting and fishing will provide you with food, crafting materials, and income. Your choice of weapon will impact the value of the meat or pelt, with the bow being your best bet for a clean kill. You can then skin and butcher the animal yourself or take it with you. If you leave an animal out for too long scavengers will come to take your kill before you can use it.

To get around, you'll rely on your own animal companion, a trusty horse. There are 19 breeds of horse in all, and they can be captured and broken or bought from stables. Keeping your horse groomed and fed will contribute to its ratings for attributes like stamina and handling. Horses also have 59 different styles of coat, and you can customize your saddles, horns, stirrups, and spurs.

Rockstar and Sony also announced a special PS4 Pro bundle that includes Red Dead Redemption 2, essentially at no additional charge. For more details check out our pre-order guide.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Gameplay Hands-On, PS4 Pro, Online, Release Date, And What We Know (So Far)

By Anonymous on Sep 24, 2018 10:05 pm

The follow-up to Rockstar Games' classic western game Red Dead Redemption is fast approaching. Set 12 years before the events of the original game, Red Dead Redemption 2 will explore an expansive region of the American wilderness, with Dutch Van der Linde's gang on the run from lawmen during the last years of the wild west. Experiencing Rockstar's take on the open-world western from a new perspective, you'll uncover the history of the Van Der Linde gang, which has a young John Marston in its thralls.

We got the opportunity to play Red Dead Redemption 2, and suffice to say, it's shaping up to be one of the most detailed open world games we've ever played. You can find out more in our preview below where you can read about our experiences completing story missions and exploring the game's world. There's also plenty of details below on the game's narrative and all of its trailers. With its release date of October 26 approaching, we're beginning to learn a lot more about the base game, as well as its Red Dead Online mode.

Where Is RDR2 Set, And Is It A Prequel?

Set 12 years before the main events of the original game, the prequel focuses on the outlaw life of the Van der Linde gang, led by Red Dead Redemption's main antagonists. After a robbery in Blackwater (one of the original game's major towns) goes bad--the gang finds themselves on the run. Dutch, his right-hand man Arthur Morgan, and several members of the gang have to contend with a life on-the-run while confrontations with rival gangs and the law make their situation grow more desperate.

Rockstar also released a description of the plot:

America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed. After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.

The First Reveal

Debuting on October 20, 2016, the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 was a bit of a mood piece that showcased many locales in the game, while also portraying the somber tone of the main narrative. In this trailer, we saw several towns and locales, many of which are teeming with life and activity--such as ranchers rustling up some cattle, huntsmen bringing back their haul, and a group of citizens hanging out in the general store.

Who Are We Playing As?

Though the central character of Red Dead Redemption, John Marston, plays some role in the story--the main protagonist of the prequel is Arthur Morgan. As Dutch's right-hand man and enforcer for the gang, he'll handle much of the daily duties of keeping the gang in-check--which includes a young and less-experienced John Marston. When it comes to keeping the gang and its community afloat, Morgan is quite handy with picking up various jobs to ensure everyone is well fed and in good spirits. But as the story progresses, he'll begin to question his own resolve for Dutch's way of life, and whether he still has a place in the gang.

The Second Trailer

On September 28, 2017, the second trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted. In the new footage, we got to see more of Arthur Morgan and how ruthless he can be while on the job. During some of the story cutscenes, Morgan will use coercion and physical threats to collect money and information, all for the "benefit" of the community. For more info on this particular trailer, check out our detailed breakdown.

Who's In Dutch's Gang?

In Red Dead Redemption 2, we'll see Dutch's gang and its key players in their prime. While the original game had John hunt down and kill the remaining members of the gang, we'll see many of the familiar faces in relatively happier times. From the most recent trailer, we see Dutch Van der Linde, Arthur Morgan, Bill Williamson, Javier Esquela, Sadie Adler, Charles Smith, Micah Bell, Hosea Matthews, and of course John Marston in the roster. We'll also interact with other characters who would have a key role in the gang and in the lives of both Arthur Morgan and John Marston.

The Third Trailer

In the new footage released on May 2, we saw a deeper look into the game's narrative and how the gang functions. Along with the familiar activities like hunting, heists, and side-quests with the region's citizens, rob trains and banks, and take in shows at theaters. For the most part, the trailer focuses on the many connections you'll have with the members of the gang, as well as how your choices will affect them. For more info on the third trailer, check out our detailed breakdown.

First Gameplay Trailer

On August 9, Rockstar unveiled Red Dead Redemption 2's first gameplay trailer. The new footage revealed that the core mechanics from the original game were still intact, but almost everything had received a facelift. Wildlife is smarter and lives within its own ecosystem. Arthur Morgan can interact with the people around him in ways John Marston never could.

What's New In Red Dead Redemption 2?

While the sequel is largely in the same vein as its predecessor, focusing on exploration, hunting, shoot-outs, heists, and other side-activities where you'll interact with a number of unique characters--Red Dead Redemption 2 features a far more expansive world to dive into. We got our first good look at this world and how we'll be playing through in Read Dead Redemption 2's first gameplay trailer below.

The honor system from the original game makes a return, but now with far more detailed tracking. Along with the average citizen, members of your community will react to how well or how poorly you treat them. As the lead enforcer, Morgan will have to handle a ton of responsibilities, such as resource gathering, procuring funds, and making sure everyone in the community is happy.

There are a ton of new mechanics in Red Dead Redemption 2. For details on every new feature in the game so far, check out our comprehensive list of all the new features we've discovered so far.

How It Plays: Our In-Depth Preview

We recently got a hands-on with a near final-build of Red Dead Redemption 2. It plays much like its predecessor, but with a bevy of new features and systems that enhance its storytelling, combat, and overall progression. We got to experience two story missions, as well as a chance to goof around freely in the open world. There's a lot to unpack about how the upcoming sequel looks and feels, so be sure to read our in-depth preview detailing our impressions about how it plays.

How Will Online Multiplayer Work?

Currently, Rockstar hasn't shared any info on how the online play will function. The original Red Dead Redemption featured online free-for-all and team deathmatch style gameplay in the open world, along with several co-op themed missions. While it's safe to assume that these sorts of missions will return, another long-lingering rumor is the appearance of a battle royale mode. Rockstar has recently confirmed that a public beta for the online mode is scheduled for a month after the game's launch.

How Can I Play RDR2? When Is Its Release Date?

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set for release on October 26 for PS4 and Xbox One. There are also plans for a collector's edition of the game called the Special Edition. Priced at $80, the package includes a copy of the game along with special missions, weapons and a physical map of the game world for players to own. There are also two additional packs for Red Dead Redemption 2 for premium prices, The Ultimate Edition and The Collector's Box--both priced at $100. While The Ultimate Edition has all items from the special edition--including additional DLC items to acquire--The Collector's Box does not include any digital items. Instead, it offers special playing cards, artwork, a bandit's bandana, a physical map of the game world, and a collector's coin in the set.

Though the original Red Dead Redemption never found its way to the PC, there's been some rumors that its sequel might. A mention of Red Dead Redemption 2's appearance on PC found its way online, but it has since been scrubbed.

PS4 Pro Bundle

Although the system itself doesn't sport a unique design, there will be a Red Dead Redemption 2 PS4 Pro bundle. Priced at $400 in the US, you're essentially getting a copy of the game for free. However, this doesn't include any of the aforementioned special editions; it's just a standard edition version of the game. The bundle is available for pre-order now.

Fortnite Season 6 Release Date Confirmed; Last Day For Season 5 Skins And Challenges

By Anonymous on Sep 24, 2018 09:54 pm

We're now in the final days of Fortnite Season 5, which means a whole new season and other big changes are just around the corner for the popular battle royale game. (Already, we've seen the cube meet its end.) That also means this is your last opportunity to complete Season 5 challenges and unlock any remaining Battle Pass rewards if you still haven't on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. [Update: Season 6 officially begins on September 27, but there are just hours left to complete Season 5 challenges.]

As it has done in previous seasons, Epic released 10 weekly batches of challenges for players to complete throughout Season 5. For this season, the tasks were divided up into two categories--Free and Battle Pass--so even those who haven't purchased a Battle Pass, which was typically the only way to gain access to the challenges, could be able to complete some and earn rewards.

Season 5 is slated to run until September 25, meaning you have until then to finish up any remaining challenges. If you need help getting them done--or would just like some pointers on how to clear them as quickly as possible--we've assembled guides for each weekly set of missions in our complete Fortnite Season 5 challenge roundup. You can also see all of the items and cosmetics you can earn by completing the challenges in our Season 5 rewards gallery.

Week 10's challenges arrived on September 13, and as usual, they featured a mix of straightforward tasks (like dealing damage to opponents and consuming enough apples or mushrooms) as well as some slightly more involved ones. One of the trickier challenges has you searching for Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces in basements; we've put together a guide of their locations here. You can see the full list of Week 10 challenges below.

Epic recently rolled out Fortnite's 5.40 content update, which introduced another new weapon to the game's ever expanding arsenal: the Suppressed Assault Rifle, a new gun that lets you take out other players stealthily. The update also moved the Drum Gun into the vault.

Arrow fans are in for a very different Season 7. With Oliver (Stephen Amell) in prison, cut off from the rest of his team, the Green Arrow isn't able to protect Star City; he also can't protect himself.

The first batch of photos for the new season have been released, keeping a literal divide Oliver and those he cares about most. While his face can't be seen clearly, it's easy to tell the slammer isn't doing Oliver any favors--he's battered and bruised. What else did they think would happen when they tossed in the rich vigilante with all of the guys he's captured over the years?

Another face seen in the photos, visiting Oliver, is Diggle (David Ramsey). Ramsey previously confirmed to GameSpot that he would be one of Oliver's only allies in prison as the two have put their differences behind them and are now friends once again. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be much help to the imprisoned Green Arrow, though.

The only other character shows in the photos is Oliver's wife, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). She looks quite a bit different than fans last saw her, though. Felicity and William, Oliver's son, have gone into witness protection after he was imprisoned, which seemed to come with a makeover. Now she has pink hair and a nose ring. We are here for punk rock Felicity. She's almost as cool as goth Felicity was in Season 5.

While these images don't show much in the way of action, the first trailer for the new season was packed with it. As Oliver faces off against some of his old foes--including Cody Rhodes returning as Derek Sampson--the fights are going to be utterly vicious. Hopefully, Oliver gets out of all of those alive and reunites with his team sooner, rather than later.

Arrow returns Monday, October 15, on The CW. Before then, make sure to check out all of the spoilers and teases we know about the show so far.
