Ubisoft Will Censor Rainbow Six Siege's References To Sex And Gambling Prior To Chinese Release

By Anonymous on Nov 06, 2018 12:14 am

Ubisoft has announced that, prior its release in China and other Asian territories, Rainbow Six Siege will receive several adjustments that censor certain maps and in-game icons. Instead of separating Siege into two different builds, the censorship will be applied to all versions of the game across the globe. The update will go live for Year 3, Season 4.

"We have a commitment to ensure that the Rainbow Six Siege experience remains true to its roots," Ubisoft assured in a blog post. "We are adjusting art and visuals, but are not compromising what makes Rainbow Six Siege the game you know today." In accordance with certain restrictions in Asian territories, Ubisoft is removing Siege's more overt references to violence--such as skulls and blood--as well as gambling and sex. In-game icons are also being made less violent. The symbol for melee attacks and damage--currently a knife--is being made into a closed fist, for example.

In terms of blood censorship, the blog post specifically only mentions environmental examples, such as aesthetic splatter on a wall being removed. We've reached out to Ubisoft to confirm whether or not additional references of blood--when an Operator is shot for example--will be censored as well.

Siege is also halfway through its Year 3, Season 3. A mid-season update adds balancing changes to the game's Operators and weapons--specifically Clash and Maestro, as well as the SMG-11 and Vector. The update implements a large amount of bug fixes as well.

This week's Siege challenges are focused on both Echo and Tachanka, as both Operators celebrate their birthdays this week. Echo's challenge tasks you to destroy 20 attacker drones while using her, which rewards you with a special dog tag charm for the Operator. Tachanka's challenge has the same requirements and awards, but must be done with the Russian soldier. The challenges end on November 6 at 6 AM PT / 8 AM ET / 3 PM BST.

Rainbow Six Siege is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

How The Walking Dead Ended Rick Grimes' Story And Wrote Andrew Lincoln Off

By Anonymous on Nov 06, 2018 12:03 am

Update: Following the conclusion of this episode of The Walking Dead, AMC announced Andrew Lincoln would continue with the franchise as the lead in three upcoming movies centered around the character of Rick Grimes.

It's the end of the road for Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead... right? Andrew Lincoln's final episode of the AMC series has come and gone. After that conclusion, though, you might be wondering just how final Rick's fate is.

Throughout the episode, it was clear that the former sheriff was at death's door. After falling onto some rebar, which ripped through him, he spends the majority of his last hour on the show bleeding out and trying to escape a herd of zombies, while having hallucinations of those he's lost in the past, including very short returns of Shane (Jon Bernthal), Hershel (Scott Wilson), and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). That is until he blows up a bridge he and the walkers are on, sending them into a raging river below.

As Daryl (Norman Reedus) and the rest of our heroes looked on, distraught, it seemed as though Rick had really gone out with a bang. The episode didn't end there, though.

Instead, the show went back to Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh), the former Jadis. After seeing the plume of smoke from the explosion in the distance and heard commotion over the radio, she spots Rick's body washed up on the side of the river as that mysterious helicopter reappeared. "I have a B," she says into her radio. "Not an A, I never had an A. He's hurt, but he's strong. Can you help him?" From there, we quickly shift to the chopper taking off, with Anne and Rick safe and sound as "Spacejunk" by Wang Chung plays--no, seriously.

No Caption Provided

"You're still here," she tells Rick on the helicopter. "You're going to be okay. They're going to save you."

Who is they? That's the big question we're left with or at least one of them. The answer is most likely the Whisperers. This isn't the first time we've heard the terms "A" and "B" thrown around. While we can't be sure, this is most likely a reference to alphas and betas. As fans of the comics know, the Whisperers are led by a woman named Alpha, with her second-in-command named Beta.

While they have yet to arrive on the series, we know they are coming and are going to be a major antagonist later in the season. That doesn't necessarily bode well for Rick, though.

Still, this is Lincoln's final episode, and it ends with him alive, which could lead to two outcomes. Either this is how the series is leaving the door open for his possible return one day or the Whisperers are going to make an even more fierce introduction.

No Caption Provided

For those that don't follow the comics, the Whisperers travel through herds of walkers by wearing the skin of the dead over their own. It's disgusting and actually makes perfect sense in this disturbing world. If the show was looking for a way to really make an impact when they finally show their faces, wearing the skin of Rick Grimes would certainly create a lasting and haunting image. For now, though, this is the last we'll see of Rick Grimes--until he potentially comes back.

That wasn't the only thing that left jaws on the floor at the end of this episode, though. There was also a flash forward to an older Judith Grimes. While she's still young--clearly no older than 10--this Judith was walking, talking, and killing zombies. It would make her dad proud, but he's definitely probably dead.

When a group of people are saved from a small herd, they find this little girl with a sheriff's hat and a katana strapped to her back is their savior. While this short moment does give hope for the future of the Grimes name, it raises a lot of questions. How did this little girl end up on her own and, more importantly, where's Michonne? With her surrogate mother's weapon over her shoulder, it definitely leaves you wondering if she, too, has become just another victim of this horrible world.

As much as this was theoretically the end of a major chapter in The Walking Dead, the story of Rick Grimes, it certainly feels like a new beginning. It will be interesting to see where the show goes from here.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Puts Epic Mercenary Events On Hold

By Anonymous on Nov 05, 2018 11:21 pm

Ubisoft has once again canceled its planned Epic Mercenary event for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and has now suspended the feature indefinitely while it works out the kinks. As a make-good, the company is offering additional Epic Ship events and a discount on a Legendary item.

In a statement on its official forums, Ubisoft said that it discovered a bug that was causing the Epic Mercenary events not to appear properly for most players. "It wasn't satisfactory to have an event available to only a portion of our players, so we decided to temporarily remove the Epic Mercenary Events from the game altogether until the issue is resolved."

Ubi says it hopes to provide an ETA as soon as possible, and it currently plans to bring a fix later this month. Epic Ship events will take place each week moving forward for the time being, and Ubisoft will be discounting Sargon's Legendary item by 80 Orichalcum next week.

The Epic Mercenary events are part of the live events package Ubisoft has planned for Odyssey to keep it going well into the long-term. This particular mercenary was supposed to be Damais the Indifferent, and it was first scrapped weeks ago. Ubisoft described its post-launch plans as the "biggest and most ambitious" in the franchise's history, intended to keep players engaged as Ubisoft takes a year off from creating a new main Assassin's Creed game in 2019.

Fortnite Challenges: How To Get The Lil Kev Back Bling

By Anonymous on Nov 05, 2018 10:20 pm

Fortnite has opened up a new set of limited-time challenges in honor of everyone's favorite sentient otherworldly cube. Your reward for completing the event is a Kevin the Cube to call your own, nicknamed Lil' Kev, as a new piece of back bling.

The event takes place in two phases. First, you have to log on anytime before 1 PM ET on November 5 to unlock the Lil' Kev challenge pack. That will unlock a set of three challenges, which themselves are pretty simple. You'll have until November 11 at 1 PM ET to finish them to earn the back bling.

Unlike Fortnite's weekly challenges, which are usually catered toward some specific seasonal content, these challenges will be naturally obtained if you play some Fortnite over the coming week. You'll get completion simply by playing matches, earning XP, and outliving opponents.

No Caption Provided

If you're still looking to complete this season's Battle Pass and earn your Season 6 rewards, check out our challenges guide. You can tote a new weapon into battle soon, since Epic has been teasing the addition of a new heavy assault rifle to the game that could drop any time. And if you're a Kevin fan that somehow missed the big world event over the weekend, check out our recap. The cube has been busy making all sorts of weirdness happen in the world.

Challenges

  • Play Matches (0/15) – 500 XP
  • Gain 5,000 XP (0/5000) – 500 XP
  • Outlive Opponents (0/500) – 500 XP

Pokemon: Last Free Legendaries Available Now, Here's How To Get Them

By Anonymous on Nov 05, 2018 09:30 pm

Since February, The Pokemon Company has been giving away a new Legendary Pokemon for free every month as part of its massive Year of Legendary Pokemon campaign. We've now reached the final month of the promotion, and for the last giveaway, The Pokemon Company has saved two Legendaries from the classic Gold and Silver versions: Lugia and Ho-Oh.

For a limited time, you'll be able to get one of the Johto Legendaries in any of the seventh-generation Pokemon games on 3DS, but the way to claim them differs depending on where you live. Those in the US will, once again, need to visit a certain retailer to pick up a download code for the Pokemon; this time, the code will be available at GameStop from November 2-25. UK residents, meanwhile, will need to go to a participating Game store to pick up a code, while those in Canada can get one from EB Games.

As before, which Legendary you receive depends on which version you own; those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Lugia, while players with Moon or Ultra Moon will get Ho-Oh. The Pokemon will also come equipped with a Gold Bottle Cap in the Ultra games, have a higher level, and know different movesets. You can see the full details below.

Pokemon Ultra Sun

  • Lugia -- Level 100 (w/Gold Bottle Cap)
    • Aeroblast
    • Earth Power
    • Psychic
    • Tailwind

Pokemon Sun

  • Lugia -- Level 60
    • Skill Swap
    • Aeroblast
    • Extrasensory
    • Ancient Power

Pokemon Ultra Moon

  • Ho-Oh -- Level 100 (w/Gold Bottle Cap)
    • Sacred Fire
    • Brave Bird
    • Earthquake
    • Tailwind

Pokemon Moon

  • Ho-Oh -- Level 60
    • Burn Up
    • Sacred Fire
    • Extrasensory
    • Ancient Power

Once you've picked up a download code for the Legendaries, you'll need to redeem it using the Mystery Gift feature from the games' main menu. Select that, then choose the option to receive your gift via a code/password. Connect to the internet when prompted and input the download code; your Legendary will then be downloaded into your game. You'll then need to pick it up from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center.

While you're at GameStop, you also still have a chance to pick up a free download code for the new Mythical Pokemon Zeraora, which is starring alongside Lugia in the latest Pokemon animated film, The Power of Us. The Zeraora distribution is scheduled to end on November 9. You can see all the other Pokemon giveaways going on now in our roundup of all the free Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Top New Games Releasing On Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, And PC This Week -- November 4-10

Fortnite's New Heavy Assault Rifle Detailed

By Anonymous on Nov 05, 2018 09:15 pm

Epic has teased a brand new weapon coming to Fortnite soon. An in-game message recently teased the Heavy AR, a new assault rifle that packs a punch, especially when fired in short bursts. The announcement likely means the release is imminent, so it will probably appear in this week's update. The gun appears to be based on the real-life AK weapons.

It was a busy weekend for Fortnite, as the Halloween event Fortnitemares concluded with a big one-time world event. After flopping its way to the lake, hovering above the battlefield, and spawning zombie-like creatures to fight, the cube affectionately nicknamed Kevin had one more trick up its sleeve. It spun rapidly until it exploded and transported players into a strange light realm. Everyone caught up in the blast floated as luminescent butterflies formed around them, and then they were transported back to the island.

After all was said and done, the vortex that had been left at Loot Lake had disappeared and been replaced by a Stonehenge-like structure. It's fair to say that area probably holds some secrets for the community to unravel as the game starts laying the groundwork for its next seasonal transition. These usually come with big world events that give some rationale for map and mechanics changes.

You still have a few weeks to take on the Fortnite Season 6 challenges guide. And while you can't earn the Fortnitemares rewards any longer, the whole season is still pretty spooky. The Legendary Dire Wolf skin, for example, becomes progressively more werewolf-like as you level it up.

Rakuten currently has both the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game on sale for $47. [Update: The PS4 version is no longer showing up and may have sold out]. It boasts an enormous, highly detailed open world that it lets you explore at a leisurely pace. You can rob trains, get drunk, bust friends out of jail, and generally paint the town red.

In our 9/10 Red Dead Redemption 2 review, Kallie Plagge wrote, "Red Dead Redemption 2 is an excellent prequel, but it's also an emotional, thought-provoking story in its own right, and it's a world that is hard to leave when it's done."

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been breaking sales records since it launched late last month. In fact, Rockstar called it the "single biggest opening weekend in the history of entertainment." If you do pick it up, you'll want to check out these 14 tips the game doesn't tell you. And if you want to do a little in-game stealing and cheating of your own, you can use this glitch to get dozens of gold bars. Finally, anyone with a PS4 can grab a free RDR2 theme to give your dashboard a dose of the old west.

Hearthstone's New Rastakhan's Rumble Expansion Announced

By Anonymous on Nov 05, 2018 08:18 pm

At its annual BlizzCon keynote, Blizzard announced the next Hearthstone expansion coming to the popular digital CCG: Rastakhan's Rumble. The new expansion focuses on trolls who come together once a generation to compete for the blessings of the Loa.

The fierce competition consists of nine teams--one for each Hearthstone class, with a Legendary leader to call their own, naturally. The Loa spirits also come in as Legendary minions. Shirvallah the Tiger is the first to debut, a Paladin Loa with a massive casting cost of 25 Mana. That's way too high to actually play, but you progressively reduce that price by casting spells throughout the match. Each class also has its own Spirit, a special minion that always starts with Stealth to allow you to set up combos.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4

It will also introduce a new keyword called "Overkill." If you have more damage than you need to kill a minion, you get a bonus. The weapon shown had an Overkill effect allowing you to attack again. Finally, a new single-player portion called Rumble Run will come too.

Rastakhan's Rumble will launch on December 4. You can pre-purchase now from two different bundles. The Challenger's Bundle gets you 17 packs and a "Ready to Rumble" card back for $20, while the Rastakhan's Rumble pre-purchase nets you 50 card packs, the card back, and an alternate Shaman hero, King Rastakhan.

All The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirits So Far: Rarities, Special Abilities, And More

By Anonymous on Nov 05, 2018 08:17 pm

A final Nintendo Direct focused on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate introduced a whole new mode, which pairs hand-in-hand with its revised way to include beloved characters from a wide variety of new and retro video games. The new "Spirits" system replaces Trophies, letting the company give power-up attributes to still artwork rather than attempt to render 3D models of every character it wishes to reference.

You earn Spirits by battling in Spirits Mode, and then they can be used to buff your character. The Spirits come in two varieties: Primary Spirits, which mostly have stat increases, and Support Spirits, which attach to Primary Spirits and imbue you with special skills or abilities. Spirits are ranked by rarity: Novice, Advanced, Ace, and Legend. They also come in three power types: Attack (Red), Grab (Green), and Shield (Blue), in a rock-paper-scissors circle of vulnerabilities.

While this list isn't complete, it shows several of the Spirits shown so far, with their special attributes, color affinity, and rarity. Fortnite Challenge List: Sheet Music, Chillers, And More (Week 6)

By Anonymous on Nov 05, 2018 08:16 pm

Alongside the ongoing Fortnitemares challenges, Fortnite: Battle Royale players have reached Week 6 in Season 6. The Thursday weekly reset means a whole new batch of weekly challenges to complete. Completing the weekly challenges is crucial to earn Battle Stars and level up your Battle Pass, which in turn will earn you cosmetic items. We have a breakdown of Week 6's challenges, but if you want to catch up on all the still-active quests from previous weeks, take a gander at our comprehensive Fortnite Season 6 challenge guide.

As always, the challenges are split into two tiers. The free section, available to all, tasks you with placing Chillers in different matches, searching for a Chest in different named locations, and getting three shotgun eliminations.

The higher tier challenges available only to Battle Pass owners give out stars as well. You can get rewards for landing at Shifty Shafts, dealing pickaxe damage, finding sheet music, and elimination with a common weapon. The landing, sheet music, and elimination challenges are all multi-stage quests, so you'll have other challenges open up after you complete the first phase.

Fortnite Season 6, Week 5 Challenges

Free

  • Place Chillers in different matches (3) -- 5 Battle Stars
  • Search a Chest in different Named Locations (7) -- 5 Battle Stars
  • Shotgun Eliminations (3) -- 10 Battle Stars

You can take on special Fortnitemares challenges to earn the Outlander skin and other cosmetics. Outlander and some of the others are part of a new type of reactive cosmetics which change appearance based on your match performance.
