By Chris Reed on Nov 17, 2018 12:19 am

Sony's Black Friday sale is now live on the PlayStation Store, dropping prices on over 100 popular PS4 games. The sale runs between now and November 27 at 8 AM PT (11 AM ET). So if you see something you want, grab it before then. Without further ado, let's see what's on sale.

First off, a couple of key the PlayStation services have gotten temporary price cuts. A 12-month PlayStation Plus subscription, which lets you take your console online and also gets you free games each month, is on sale for $40 right now. Also, a year's subscription to PlayStation Now, a service that lets you download or stream over 650 games, is on sale for $80.

Some big recent games have gotten nice discounts, including Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 for $48. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is on sale for $40, and last year's installment, Assassin's Creed Origins, is down to $24. While the standard edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 remains at full price, you can get the Special Edition on sale for $70 or the Ultimate Edition for $90 if you want some extra in-game items.

A number of PS4 exclusives got the discount treatment as well. You can get God of War and Detroit: Become Human for just $22 each, Persona 5 for $20, and Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for $15.

Anyone with a PlayStation VR headset (or anyone who's planning to pick one up at a Black Friday sale price) can grab the online team shooter Firewall: Zero Hour for $30, the surreal puzzle adventure Torn for $21, or the boxing game Creed: Rise To Glory for $15.

Spider-Man PS4 For $40 At Ebay Today

By Steve Watts on Nov 17, 2018 12:19 am

Marvel's Spider-Man is a critical and commercial success, but if you were holding out to web up a Spidey discount, today is your day. As part of Ebay's ongoing pre-Black Friday sales, you can get the swinging superhero for $40--the lowest price we've seen from the coming sales season.

Like many of Ebay's sale items, this is likely limited by time and supply. You can pick it up at the sale price here. You may have to wait a bit for delivery, though; as of time of writing, delivery is estimated December 5-10. This joins Ebay's line-up of "Better Than Black Friday" deals, which includes discounts on other recent games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Black Ops 4.

Spider-Man sold record numbers for Sony, and its success helped Sony's bottom line so much that the company as a whole raised its profit forecast. This Ebay deal is the only discount we've seen this season on the standalone game, though Sony is offering a big discount on the game bundled with a new PS4 console as well for Black Friday.

Insomniac and Sony just detailed the second DLC pack Turf Wars, part of the ongoing serialized story The City That Never Sleeps. It's set to drop next week, on November 20, with new story missions, sidequests, and of course, Spidey suits.

"The feeling of embodying Spidey and using his abilities is astonishing, and the time spent on exploring its major characters help make its story feel heartfelt, despite superhero bombast," critic Edmond Tran said in GameSpot's Spider-Man review. "There have been open-world Spider-Man games before, but none so riveting and full of personality, none that explore and do justice to this many facets of the universe."

By Steve Watts on Nov 16, 2018 11:41 pm

Ebay has announced another sales promotion revolving around Black Friday, but this one boasts that it's better than Black Friday. The promotion centers on a full week of beating competitor prices for the retail holiday across several items. The promotion runs November 12-18, and the prices go into effect at 5 AM PT each day.

As of this writing (November 16), you'll still find Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One for $48, and it's matching or beating Xbox One controller ($40) and Black Ops 4 for PS4 ($45) deals that will be available from other retailers. These deals continue to change, so stay tuned for more.

The deal for Monday was a Samsung 32" Smart LED HD TV for $175, beating the advertised Target deal of $179. Tuesday offered an Xbox One wireless controller for $35, undercutting Walmart's price of $39. The deals also include NBA 2K19 for $26 (vs $30 at Target) and Apple AirPods for $149.

Naturally, these game and tech deals come alongside several other discounts on other items, from coffee makers to boots to watches. Ebay is also offering free shipping on these deals, and a "Best Price Guarantee" that will give 110% the price difference on competitors. You can check out the full line-up at the Ebay deal site.

Black Friday is traditionally the Friday immediately following the Thanksgiving holiday, but as retailers compete for customers the discounts have begun expanding to the weeks before and after as well. It's a good time to grab cheap games and hardware, so check out our Black Friday deals roundups for all the best prices.

Week 8 Challenges In Fortnite: Dance With Fish Trophy, Shoot Clay Pigeons, Trick Points, And More (Season 6)

By Array on Nov 16, 2018 11:36 pm

We're in the homestretch of Fortnite Season 6. Only two more weeks remain after this one, which means time is quickly running out if you want to get this season's crop of Battle Stars and unlock all the cosmetic rewards by leveling up your Battle Pass. Week 8's challenges are now available across every platform, and we've got the full breakdown on what you'll need to do below.

In the free section, the challenges involve visiting Lonely Lodge and Retail Row in a single match, dancing with a fish trophy at seven different named locations, and getting eliminations with a Six Shooter or Heavy Assault Rifle.

For those with a paid Battle Pass, however, there's an additional set of challenges that are a little harder. The first asks you to get a score of three on three different Clay Pigeon Shooters, use a vehicle to rack up 250,000 trick points, visit four different named locations in a match, and use a grappling hook. That final challenge is the first part of a multi-stage one that will reveal further steps once completed.

On November 14, developer Epic Games release Fortnite patch 6.30, introducing a new limited-time event called Food Fight. This is a team-based event in which the two in-game restaurants, Durrr Burger and Pizza Pit, battle it out to prove who is superior. To prove their supremacy, teams must aim to destroy their enemy's mascot. Gameplay has a setup phase during which players can fortify their mascot and protect it.

The patch also introduces a new weapon to help do this: the Mounted Turret. This functions pretty much as you'd expect a turret to. Although it's powerful and capable of laying down a hail of bullets, overuse will cause it to overheat, so players will need to be thoughtful about how much they rely on the weapon. Finally, update 6.30 removed the glider re-deploy mechanic from the default modes, though it is still available in a few big team modes and the Playground.

If you weren't able to get the NFL team jerseys before they were removed from Fortnite's in-game store, there's some good news. Epic has confirmed it's bringing the NFL jersey skins back sometime before the Super Bowl in February.

Creed 2 Review: Rocky Sequel Comfort Food

By Michael Rougeau on Nov 16, 2018 11:30 pm

From the opening scenes, you know exactly where Creed II is headed. Creed II is to the original Creed what Rocky II was to the movie that started it all: Adonis Creed starts out on top of the world, which means he has nowhere to go but down. He'll hit rock bottom, linger there for a while, then drag himself back up for a triumphant return. That's the basic outline of Creed II. It's intimately familiar, and it's so well executed that you won't mind the story's inevitability.

That isn't to say there are no surprises. The story of Michael B. Jordan's Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed, parallels that of his predecessors, but it's not a simple cut and paste. Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) has his own arc in this film, while Bianca (the incredibly talented Tessa Thompson) really comes into her own as a character. Maybe most surprising of all is the journey of Ivan Drago, returning villain from Rocky IV, played once again by the great Dolph Lundgren.

Like the original Creed, Creed II is about legacy. Adonis can't escape the past, and he has the extra burden of carrying Rocky's legacy in addition to his own father's. Back in 1985, in Rocky IV, Rocky defeated Ivan Drago after Drago killed Apollo Creed in the ring. Now Drago, disgraced for decades in his home country, returns with a son who's been training his whole life for this moment. They throw down the gauntlet in Philadelphia, and Adonis has no choice but to accept.

At least, that's how he sees it. But Creed II moves past the simple theme of legacy when Rocky asks Adonis, "Why do you need to fight this fight?" Why does Adonis accept that his father's and his mentor's problems are now his problems? What does he actually want?

As in the last movie, Jordan brings a huge amount of depth to the character. It wouldn't be a Rocky movie without some training montages, and Creed II has some really creative ones. More importantly, Jordan absolutely sells how hard the character pushes himself. And Adonis doesn't take defeat lightly. Rock bottom really looks grim for him, thanks to Jordan's vulnerable, emotional performance. And his physical condition is staggeringly impressive--the amount of training that must have gone into making his body look like this is hard to imagine.

No Caption Provided

As Adonis's partner Bianca, Thompson proves in Creed II that she can bring a unique presence to any role. As essentially a supporting character for Adonis, Bianca might have felt like a second stringer in another actress's hands, but Thompson steals the show more than once. As the viewer, you believe that Adonis would collapse without her support in their personal life. She's his foundation. And Stallone is still Stallone--capable of expressing a surprising amount of emotion for a guy whose face looks like that. He may actually have become a better actor in his advanced years.

And then there's Lundgren. Like Rocky, Ivan Drago is well past his fighting years--although unlike Rocky, Drago still cuts a physically intimidating figure. His son Viktor (Florian Munteanu) is a monster of a man who spends most of the movie yelling and throwing punches that look like they could break through a brick wall. But the elder Drago is such an impressive presence--especially next to the clearly exhausted Stallone--that you feel genuinely scared for Rocky during an early confrontation when it seems like the two old rivals might come to blows.

No Caption Provided

Creed II accomplishes something incredible when it humanizes Drago. Yes, he's still the bad guy of the story, but he's not a villain. He's an ex-boxer who's essentially been in exile; disgraced at home, abandoned by family and country. Drago's path, much like Adonis's, was inevitable. And Creed II spends enough time with Ivan and Viktor that you truly start to feel for them. Training montages flip back and forth between Adonis's cushy apartment, beautiful girlfriend, and fancy gyms, and Ivan and Viktor's dingy home, ratty facilities, and generally lonely life. Both sets of characters are just doing what they have to do to improve their lot.

Creed II's fights, the main event, are breathtakingly personal. Adonis and Viktor make every punch look and feel real. The camera often stays uncomfortably close, making excellent use of a first person perspective to make you feel like you're literally in the fight, taking those hits along with the characters. The blood, sweat, and tears feel so immediate that you'll forget about caring whether you think you know what the outcome is going to be. Jordan and Thompson invest so much emotion that you can't help but feel along with them.

No Caption Provided

Creed II comes with a different director--Steven Caple Jr. replaces Ryan Coogler--but it nearly matches the original Creed in quality. It's Rocky sequel comfort food: exactly what you want, executed with amazing finesse. The only question left is where the series will go from here, as Adonis Creed now has his own legacy to maintain.

Fortnite Patch Notes (6.30 Update, Plus New Hotfix): Mounted Turret, Food Fight Mode, And More

By Tamoor Hussain on Nov 16, 2018 11:19 pm

Epic Games has launched a new update, 6.30, for Fortnite on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and mobile. There's a brand-new type of limited-time mode, as well as a new Mounted Turret, and we've got the full patch notes detailing all the new additions and changes. Following the patch's release, Epic has released a hotfix to effectively nerf the Mounted Turret, dramatically reducing the amount of health it has. A PC-specific update for Save the World, meanwhile, has also been rolled back.

The big new arrival in update 6.30 is a Limited Time Mode called Food Fight, which encourages players to use the new mounted turret to settle the battle of Durr Burger versus Pizza Pit. "One wall, two entrees, the Food Fight has begun! Build your base, wait for the barrier to drop, and battle it out in this new Limited Time Mode. Claim your preferred team on our social channels. #TeamBurger #TeamPizza," Epic says in its description.

The turret is a Legendary Trap weapon that can be found in Floor Loot, Supply Drops, Vending Machines, and Supply Llamas. Although it has unlimited ammo--and packs quite a punch--players will need to be careful using it as it can overheat if fired for too long. The turret can only be placed on the floor, and can be destroyed by attacking it directly or aiming for its structural support. The floor piece it is placed on is invulnerable. It's also worth keeping in mind that, once placed, anyone can use a turret--including the enemy team.

As previously announced, Epic has ended its glider re-deploy test that began a few weeks ago. Redeploying will only activate your glider, though you will still skydive when exiting the Battle Bus, after traveling through a Rift, or using a Launch Pad. In the latter two cases, skydiving will lead to a glider deploy higher in the air--at 35 meters, rather than 15.5.

Other changes of note include Quadcrashers now being guaranteed spawns and damage numbers being shown on the starting island. Despite this, you can't drop below 1 health, and any damage dealt won't count toward challenges.

For Save The World, meanwhile, Epic has made some tweaks to the user interface and also introduced the Last Word Revolver. Check out the full patch notes for more on what's new and different with Save The World. You can see the Battle Royale details below.

A week after they were introduced, the NFL team jerseys have been removed from Fortnite's in-game store. Those that purchased one using V-Bucks can continue to use it but they are no longer available to purchase. Epic has not yet said whether they will make a return in the future.

Epic has also started selling a Summit Striker starter pack, which comes with a new skin, back bling, and 600 V-Bucks for $5. This pack intended to be a way to give newcomers a taste of customization for relatively cheap and, as such, is limited to one purchase per account.

As with every week, this new patch will be followed by a fresh batch of challenges. If you haven't completed last week's challenges, you can check out the full list of them and use our guide for the trickier of the bunch. We also have a comprehensive guide to every challenge in Fortnite Season 6, so you won't miss out on a single Battle Star.

New Netflix Movies, TV Shows, And Originals For November 2018 (US)

By Mat Elfring on Nov 16, 2018 11:09 pm

November has begun, and that means it's almost time to spend the day gorging yourself on turkey, making sure to avoid the family you're forced to hang out with. What better way to avoid forced conversation than sitting around the television, watching Netflix, together? Netflix has revealed what is coming to its service for the full month of November 2018, as well as what is leaving the subscription service. You can also check out the video above for some recommendations.

Kicking off the month, Netflix brought a slew of movies on November 1. If you haven't seen it yet, you'll need to watch From Dusk Till Dawn. The 1996 action/horror film is by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino and follows two criminals on the run who take a family in an RV hostage. They all end up at a strip club in Mexico that's filled with vampires. Also now on the service is Cape Fear, Marvel's Doctor Strange, and Sixteen Candles.

If Netflix's originals are more up your alley, then you're in luck, as there are 46 movies and series coming in November. Most notable was the return of House of Cards, for Season 6, which will be its final season. This time around, Kevin Spacey won't be involved after sexual abuse allegations came out against the House of Cards star. The final season will follow Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) as the President of the United States, which was revealed in the first trailer.

There are plenty of other original series to get excited about as well. Mystery Science Theater 3000 returns for another season to make fun of some terrible, old movies, coming November 22. Also, She-Ra--He-Man's superpowered cousin--has gotten a fun and bubbly reboot as of November 16. Along with a new collection of The Great British Baking Show that's now available, you'll have a ton to watch.

The full the list for Netflix is below, and make sure to check out what's coming to Hulu and Amazon for the month of November as well.

Clay Pigeons Locations -- Fortnite: Where To "Score 3" Guide For Week 8 Challenges

By Array on Nov 16, 2018 11:05 pm

Fortnite's Season 6, Week 8 challenges are now available on every platform. If you're a Battle Pass owner, one of this week's challenges requires you to get a score of three on three different Clay Pigeon shooters around the island. The difficult part is actually finding these shooters, which is why we've hunted some down and put together a guide that'll have you racking up the points in no time.

Thankfully, there's a whole bunch of Clay Pigeon shooters scattered around the map for you to find, and you only need three of them, so the odds are heavily in your favor. On our brief trek across the island we managed to find a six; you can take a look at the locations below.

Fortnite Clay Pigeon Locations

  • West of Pleasant Park (Quadrant B4)
  • Northeast corner of Loot Lake (Quadrant E4)
  • Northwest of Tomato Town (Quadrant G3)
  • Between Lonely Lodge and Wailing Woods (Quadrant J4)
  • Between Shifty Shafts and Flush Factory (Quadrant D8)
  • South of Paradise Palms (Quadrant I9)

Once you're done with that, you can see the other challenge that await you in our Fortnite Season 6, Week 8 challenge list. With just two weeks left in Season 6, this is also a good time to start finishing up remaining challenges from previous weeks. If you need a hand doing that, we've got a comprehensive Season 6 challenge guide that will make the trickiest challenges a piece of cake.

Epic Games also recently announced that the NFL jersey skins will be re-introduced to Fortnite, having been removed just a week after they originally launched. While there isn't an exact date for when players will be able to spend their V-Bucks to look like their favourite NFL stars, Epic has said it is planning on bringing the NFL jersey skins back sometime before the Super Bowl in February.

Where Is Xur Today? Destiny 2 Xur Location & Exotics Guide (Nov. 16-20)

By Phil Hornshaw on Nov 16, 2018 11:04 pm

You might have already gotten yourself a new Exotic this week in Destiny 2. The weekly reset saw the completion of the Murder Mystery quest, whose final prize was the Destiny 1 fan-favorite Exotic machine gun Thunderlord. That was a pretty good prize, but if you need more Exotics--and who doesn't--Xur is back this weekend to quench your thirst for golden loot.

This week, Xur is camped out on Titan. You'll find him on The Rig east of the location where you spawn in, toward the center of the northern edge of the area. Run to the far side of the area and when you come out from the covered portion, turn drop down and turn left. Xur is in the small square building waiting there.

As always, Xur's bag of Exotics includes one weapon and one piece of armor for each of the three classes, specifically from Destiny 2's Year One batch. The weapon this week is Coldheart, a powerful trace rifle laser beam that was previously a preorder bonus for Destiny 2. Its Cold Fusion perk give it a steady beam, and the Longest Winter perk mean it does more and more damage the longer you hold the beam on your target.

Knucklehead Radar is a favorite for Hunters--the helmet maintains your radar even when you're aiming down sights, which makes it great for the Crucible. Warlocks get Aeon Soul, which grant additional class ability energy to teammates when you use your own class ability, with the gains increased when more people on your Fireteam are also wearing Aeon Exotics. Finally, the Titan helmet An Insurmountable Skullfort start health regeneration when you kill enemies with Arc melee abilities, while also recharging your melee energy.

  • Coldheart (Exotic trace rifle) -- 29 Legendary Shards
  • Aeon Soul (Exotic Warlock gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary Shards
  • Knucklehead Radar (Exotic Hunter helmet) -- 23 Legendary Shards
  • An Insurmountable Skullfort (Exotic Titan helmet) -- 23 Legendary Shards

Alongside the items above you can purchase directly, you can also shell out Legendary shards for Xur's Fated Engram. This engram is guaranteed to decrypt into a Year One Exotic you don't already own, making it a good way to fill out your collection if you find Xur's offerings lacking--provided you can afford it. Make sure you buy it on the character whose class you want the Exotic to match.

Apart from finally taming Thunderlord (here's how if you haven't yet), you should be seeing Exotic drops in the world of Destiny 2 carry fewer duplicates. That's because of Bungie's last big update to the game, which weighted Exotics you don't own higher than ones you do for random drops in the world. Duplicates will still drop, but they should come less often. Bungie also has weighted armor duplicates over weapon duplicates, so if you do get an Exotic you already have, it'll be more likely to be a piece of armor with random perks, which might still be useful. Weapons don't carry random perks, so you can disassemble those dupes.

There's also great non-Exotic loot to be grabbed this week in the Iron Banner. If you still need to earn Triumphs and Iron Banner armor and weapons from the event, best to get in there--Bungie has said that Season 4 is coming to an end at the end of November, which means your chances for this batch of Iron Banner stuff will end with it.

Though Season 4 is ending, the start of Season 5 (known as the Season of the Forge) means another batch of new content as part of Destiny 2's overall Year Two plan. The next expansion piece is called Black Armory, and its due to drop on December 4. It'll come with new Year Two Exotics, as well as other new gear, a new Raid lair, and a new activity.

Every Red Dead 2 Cheat Code (Confirmed So Far): Here's How To Get And Activate Them

By Alessandro Fillari on Nov 16, 2018 11:00 pm

The newest release from GTA developer Rockstar Game, Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 and Xbox One, is a game that is filled with secrets and details. Its core story alone takes 50-plus hours to complete as you slowly accumulate wealth and honor. But if you're someone looking for a shortcut, we've got you covered. Much like the original game and GTA V, Red Dead 2 features an assortment of cheat codes that unlock additional resources, with some injecting odd gimmicks and quirks into your game. Bear in mind, you shouldn't expect these to work in Red Dead Online when that releases in late November.

To find the Cheats menu in Red Dead Redemption 2, press the pause button and select the Settings option. In this menu, press Triangle or Y (on PS4 and Xbox One, respectively) to pull up the Cheats menu. From here, you'll find a long list of locked cheats. Initially, you won't know what any of these do or how to unlock them. Many of these codes can be activated by putting in the correct phrase, but others will require some extra time and effort.

In addition to finding passwords while exploring the world, some of which are written into the ground, throughout the game you'll find newspapers for sale in towns, and some of these offer clues as to how to unlock these extra fun options. More newspapers will become available after completing main missions, which you'll see detailed in news articles. While many of these cheats introduce some mostly benign bits of fun--such as keeping your character, Arthur Morgan, perpetually drunk--activating these codes at any time will have some consequences for your save game. Once you activate these codes, all Trophies and Achievements will be deactivated on this particular file. As a result, before trying any of these codes, be sure to make a separate file for your main save.

With over 30 codes to unlock, some of which have some specific requirements, we've collected a list of cheats that we've uncovered thus far. We also have a separate feature discussing some of the most entertaining and best cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2. Be sure to check back with GameSpot as we update this page with new codes, and how to find them.

Argos Black Friday 2018 UK Deals: TVs, PS4 And Xbox One Games, Controllers

By Tamoor Hussain on Nov 16, 2018 10:47 pm

Black Friday 2018 has well and truly taken over, with UK retailers now jumping on the bandwagon for the annual shopping holiday. High street retailer Argos has launched its Black Friday deals, offering discounts on TVs and video games, as well as the peripherals and accessories you can use to enjoy them. Discounts are available both in-store and online, and we've collected some of the noteworthy deals below.

While newer games are pretty much close to full price still, you can pick up some games from earlier in the year, such as Nier: Automata and Onrush, on the cheap at Argos. This is a great chance to snag those games that you may have let pass you by when they originally released, and if you're looking for cheap stocking fillers for Christmas, you could do a lot worse.

Beyond the games, there's a decent selection of TVs on offer, so if you've been waiting for the ideal opportunity to upgrade to a 4K set, this could be it. Rounding off the discounts at Argos are a bunch of controllers. There are a selection of colored wired Xbox One controllers, which also work on PC. Beyond that a number of Switch controllers themed after iconic Nintendo characters are also available. For those looking for cases for their Switch, Argos has a few of those too. Take a look at the full selection below.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Patch Notes Include "Speed Cola" Perk, PC Balance Tweaks

By Steve Watts on Nov 16, 2018 10:36 pm

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has gotten another global update across all platforms, including quality-of-life improvements, a new Perk system modifier, and PC-specific balance changes. Plus it includes the usual round of regular bug fixes that are to be expected with an ongoing live game.

In the patch notes, Treyarch says that the PC balance updates are distinct from the other platforms and the teams evaluate them separately. As a result the notes have their own PC section with additional keybinds, more slight toggles for things like push to talk or Asus Aura RGB effects, and several balance changes to weapons.

Meanwhile, all modes got improvements to detecting melee attacks, exploit fixes in Multiplayer, and crash fixes in Zombies. The Zombies mode also got a new modifier to its Perk system to increase weapon reload speed. If you've played previous games you may recognize this as the "Speed Cola" perk. Combining it with Fast Mags/Hybrid Mags, it results in a 50% overall increase.

"This preserves the role of these weapon attachments in creating the quickest-handling guns in each weapon class," reads the notes. "Additionally, we wanted to ensure the reload modifiers from certain Pack-a-Punch versions of weapons are still meaningful, which stack with the new 'Speed Cola' tuning values."

If you haven't yet grabbed Black Ops 4, Amazon has a hot deal offering it for $40. This matches the best sale price across retailers on Black Friday. Plus, if you need a system to go with it, Sony just announced a new PlayStation 4 bundle that includes the game for free.

Check below for the full patch notes.

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 16, 2018 10:21 pm

It may be hard to believe, but Black Friday is just around the corner. This year, the annual shopping extravaganza arrives a little earlier than usual, falling on November 23, but already a ton of retailers have announced what deals await eager shoppers. There are some especially good ones on games and accessories, including PlayStation Plus subscriptions.

As of this writing, the best deal on PS Plus comes from Best Buy and PSN itself; the two will offer a 12-month subscription to the service for $40--a nice $20 savings and the cheapest we ever see these subscriptions go. The PSN deal is available now, with the PlayStation Store's Black Friday sale officially underway. Beyond that, no other notable deals have been announced just yet, but we'll update this roundup with more as they emerge.

PS Plus is Sony's online subscription service. You'll need a membership in order to play most online multiplayer games on PS4 and PS3, such as Rocket League and the recently released Fallout 76. On top of that, Sony offers a batch of free games for PS Plus subscribers every month, which are yours as long as you have an active membership, as well as additional discounts on titles from the PlayStation Store.

PS Plus subscriptions are available in several increments. A one-month subscription typically costs $10; a three-month membership runs for $25; and a 12-month subscription is normally $60. If you're interested in sampling the service before committing to it, Sony is offering a free 14-day trial through the PS Store, although that will automatically convert into a one-month subscription if you don't cancel it before the trial period ends.

You can find all of the announced PS Plus deals, as well as our other guides on this year's PS4 Black Friday sales, below. For even more discounts, be sure to check out our full Black Friday deals coverage.

Smash Bros. Ultimate: Release Date, Stages, Roster, Amiibo, And What We Know (So Far)

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 16, 2018 10:14 pm

After sharing a tantalizingly brief teaser trailer back in March, Nintendo formally revealed its next Super Smash Bros. game at E3 2018. Dubbed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the new installment in the beloved fighting series arrives on Nintendo Switch later this year, and while there are still undoubtedly some details we don't yet know about it, Nintendo revealed a ton of information about the game in the months following its big unveiling, giving us a good idea of what to expect.

To catch you up on all of the biggest details Nintendo has revealed about the game so far, we've compiled everything we know about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate below, from the game's release date and new characters to the many changes being made to its gameplay. We'll continue to update this list as new details emerge, so be sure to check back for the latest information on Nintendo's highly anticipated mascot fighter.

Is It a Port or a New Game?

Prior to its full reveal at E3, there was much speculation over whether Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would be a new installment in the series or an expanded port of the Wii U entry, in the vein of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Nintendo cleared up any misconceptions during a Q&A session at the expo, confirming that Ultimate is indeed a brand-new title built for Nintendo Switch.

How Many New Characters Are There?

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate introduces 11 new fighters to the series' roster, with an additional six coming as DLC. Nintendo revealed the first three of these newcomers--Inkling, Ridley, and Daisy--during its E3 presentation. Inkling and Ridley are both brand-new additions to the series, with unique movesets and play styles drawn from their respective franchises. Inkling can splatter opponents with ink and use a variety of weapons taken from Splatoon, such as Splat Bombs and the Splat Roller; Ridley, meanwhile, can spew fire and spear other combatants with his tail.

Daisy, on the other hand, isn't an entirely new addition to the roster, but rather an Echo Fighter--a clone of an existing character, in the vein of Lucina and Dark Pit. Her moveset and play style are based on Princess Peach, although she boasts some different characteristics to set her apart. As Nintendo further explained during a dedicated Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct in August, Echo Fighters can either be displayed as separate characters on the selection screen or stacked atop the fighter they're based on.

Five additional newcomers were also revealed during that same presentation: Simon and Richter Belmont from Castlevania; Chrom and Dark Samus from Fire Emblem Awakening and Metroid Prime 3, respectively; and King K. Rool from the Donkey Kong Country series. The following month, the company announced Isabelle from Animal Crossing: New Leaf will also be a new playable character. The final two new additions to the base roster--Ken from Street Fighter and Incineroar from Pokemon Sun and Moon--were announced during October's Super Smash Bros. Direct.

Which Characters Are Coming Back?

Everyone! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate features the largest roster in the series to date with more than 70 confirmed fighters (and six more DLC characters). Every fighter who has ever appeared in a Smash Bros. game will return in Ultimate, including all of the ones released as DLC for the Wii U and 3DS installments--such as Bayonetta, Corrin, and Mewtwo--as well as third-party characters like Sonic, Cloud, and Street Fighter's Ryu.

The roster even encompasses characters who have previously only appeared in a single Super Smash Bros. game, including Pichu and Young Link (whose sole appearances were in 2001's Melee), and Wolf and Snake from 2008's Brawl. Longtime Metal Gear Solid voice actor David Hayter revealed he is reprising his role as the latter in Ultimate, and Snake's signature stage, Shadow Moses Island, has also been confirmed to return.

No Caption Provided

Not all of these characters will be available from the outset; Nintendo revealed that the game's initial fighter select screen will only consist of eight characters--the same number as the starting roster in the first Super Smash Bros. for N64. However, the company says the conditions for unlocking characters have been streamlined this time around, and new fighters will be doled out frequently, giving players the feeling that they're constantly making progress.

How Many Stages Are There?

Nintendo confirmed during its August Direct presentation that there will be 103 different stages in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, each of which also boasts a Battlefield and Final Destination form. Taken together, this amounts to more than 300 levels to fight on. Moreover, Nintendo is introducing a new feature to the game called Stage Morph; when toggled on, it will cause one stage to transform into another in the middle of a match.

The majority of the stages in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are taken from previous installments in the series. Among those that have been confirmed thus far are Spirit Train and Tortimer Island from Super Smash Bros. for 3DS; Princess Peach's Castle and Great Bay from Melee; New Pork City and Frigate Orpheon from Brawl; and Mario Galaxy and Gaur Plain from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. That said, there will also be a handful of new stages in the game. At E3, Nintendo revealed Great Plateau Tower (based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) and Splatoon's Moray Towers, while the August Direct gave us a look at New Donk City from Super Mario Odyssey and Simon Belmont's signature stage, Dracula's Castle.

What Else Is Different?

Aside from all of the new characters, stages, and items, Nintendo is making a ton of mechanical and balance changes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Game director Masahiro Sakurai says the amount of tweaks in the game could number in the "tens of thousands," and they range from subtle visual upgrades--like Wii Fit Trainer's refined face--to reworked movesets and other dramatic overhauls.

One of the most notable changes is the pace of the game. Combat in Ultimate feels speedier than in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, resulting in quicker and more intense matches. Moreover, Nintendo has introduced some new techniques, such as directional air dodges, and simplified other ones, like short hop attacks, improving the game's accessibility while also allowing for more skillful play. In keeping with this emphasis on speedier matches, players will dish out more damage in one-on-one battles, while those who excessively dodge will now be penalized with slowed dodge movement and a smaller window of invulnerability.

No Caption Provided

Most Final Smashes have also undergone some dramatic changes in Ultimate. Some existing specials, like Pikachu's Volt Tackle and Sonic's Super Sonic transformation, are now uncontrollable, lightning-fast attacks, while other characters have received new Final Smashes entirely. This time, Link fires a devastating Ancient Arrow, while Pit barrels through opponents in the Lightning Chariot. Nintendo says that nearly every Final Smash has been reworked in Ultimate to be more immediate, allowing players to get back into the fray more quickly.

Likewise, many returning characters have received significant overhauls in Ultimate, both in terms of their appearance and their movesets. Ganondorf, for instance, is modeled after his classic look in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and he now uses his sword for his smash attacks. Princess Zelda's new model is based on her appearance in A Link Between Worlds, and Link dons his Champion's Tunic from Breath of the Wild. Shulk can now choose Monado Arts directly rather than having to cycle through them, while Palutena's special attacks have been streamlined.

What Are Spirits?

In the place of trophies, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate introduces a new type of collectible called Spirits. These come in the form of character artwork from a variety of different games and can be equipped to power up your fighter. There are two types of Spirits: Primary, which enhance your character's stats, and Support, which can be attached to the Primary spirit and confer additional abilities, such as autoheal. Spirits also come in several different classes, ranging from Novice to Legendary, and three power types: Attack (Red), Grab (Green), and Shield (Blue).

Spirits can be acquired in the aptly titled Spirits Mode. Here, you'll need to battle against a fighter that somewhat resembles the Spirit you're challenging; for instance, to acquire the Lakitu and Spiny Spirit, you'll first need to defeat Iggy Koopa and his team of tiny, red Bowsers. These Spirit battles also typically feature some sort of stage hazards such as poisonous floors, so you'll need to think about the appropriate Support Spirits to equip in order to succeed.

Can I Use GameCube Controllers?

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will support several different controller options, including the Switch Pro controller, a single Joy-Con, and many Smash fans' preferred gamepad, the GameCube controller. As was the case with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the latter will be compatible with the console via a separate adapter. This peripheral plugs into the Switch dock and works with both standard wired GameCube controllers and the wireless WaveBird.

No Caption Provided

Those who already own the Wii U GameCube controller adapter will be able to use it with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Switch. Nintendo will also release a new controller adapter later this year, along with a new line of Smash-branded wired GameCube controllers. Both are already available for pre-order from various retailers such as Amazon and GameStop; the adapter retails for $20, while the GameCube controllers run for $30 each.

Will It Work with Amiibo?

Nintendo confirmed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be compatible with the existing range of Smash Bros. Amiibo, and data saved to those figures will carry over to the new game. The company has also announced it will release several new Smash Bros. Amiibo. Nintendo showcased figures of Ridley and Inkling, the first two new fighters announced for Ultimate, during its E3 2018 presentation, and we've since also gotten a look at Amiibo of King K. Rool, Daisy, Ken, Isabelle, and several other characters.

No Caption Provided

In addition to the new figures, Nintendo announced it will also produce Amiibo for all of the returning characters in Ultimate. The company has specifically confirmed Wolf, Ice Climbers, Young Link, and Pichu will receive Amiibo, although that will presumably apply to other returning fighters such as Snake as well. The Ridley, Inkling, and Wolf figures will launch alongside Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this December and retail for $16 each, while the other Amiibo will arrive in 2019. Reprints of many previous Smash Bros. Amiibo will also be available later this year for $13.

Will I Need to Pay to Play Online?

While online play on Nintendo Switch had been free for most of the console's life on the market, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (and other online-enabled games like Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee) now require a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service in order to play them online. Subscriptions are available for one month (US $4 / £3.49 / AU $6), three months (US $8 / £7 / AU $12), and 12 months (US $20 / £18 / AU $30). Nintendo also offers a Family Plan, which allows up to eight accounts to share one membership for US $35 / £31.49 / AU $55 a year.

Will There Be DLC?

Yes, Nintendo has confirmed it plans to release five additional fighters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate following the game's launch. Each fighter will come bundled in a set with a new stage and several music tracks for $6. Nintendo will also offer a Fighters Pass, which costs $25 and gives players access to all five DLC sets when they release. According to director Masahiro Sakurai, the DLC characters have already been settled on. While fans got to vote on which fighters they wanted to see added to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, Sakurai notes that this time Ultimate's DLC characters were all selected by Nintendo.

No Caption Provided

On top of those five fighters, Nintendo will also release a sixth additional character for Ultimate shortly after its launch: Piranha Plant. Everyone who either purchases the game through the Eshop or registers their copy on My Nintendo by January 31, 2019 will receive a free download code for the fighter. If you miss the cutoff date, Nintendo will also offer Piranha Plant as a paid DLC character separate from those included in the Fighters Pass. The company says it expects Piranha Plant to be available "around" February 2019.

When's the Release Date?

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch later this year, on December 7.

Fortnite Challenge Location Maps/Guides -- Fish Trophy, Clay Pigeons, And More (Season 6)

By Tamoor Hussain on Nov 16, 2018 10:08 pm

We've got just two weeks left of Season 6 in Fortnite: Battle Royale. The challenges for Week 8 are available now and feature a nice mix of easy-to-do and multi-part challenges for players to complete as they seek a Victory Royale. Three challenges are offered to all players for free, but four others are reserved for Battle Pass owners. The trickiest of the bunch include dancing with a fish trophy and shooting clay pigeons.

As Season 6 of Fortnite: Battle Royale rolls on, new challenges continue to roll out on all platforms--PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Those feed into the latest Battle Pass, and as with previous seasons, you level that up by playing the game and completing challenges. Every week there will be a new set of tasks for players to complete that unlock Battle Stars and level up the Battle Pass to unlock goodies.

Like in Season 5, weekly challenges are split into two categories. The first is a free set, which are available to all Fortnite players, while the second is for Battle Pass owners. To get a Battle Pass you'll need to cough up 950 V-Bucks in game. If you haven't bought the Battle Pass, you'll be able to complete certain objectives and earn some rewards, but some of the coolest unlocks are locked behind the paid Battle Pass, so if you plan on sinking lots of time into Fortnite, we recommend picking that up.

Although you can pick up a Battle Pass later and go back to unlock any premium rewards you've earned based on the tier that you've already reached, there is one major advantage in doing it at the start of the season. Namely that you'll get bonus XP, which is dished out for just playing the game either alone or with buddies. This XP levels you up and translates to Battle Stars that also level up your pass, so it may be a good idea to get in early if you can.

Alongside the standard challenges, there are also Hunting Party challenges for those who buy the Battle Pass. These operate similarly to the Blockbuster and Road Trip objectives of past seasons, where each one tasks you with completing all challenges from a single week during the season. The reward for each is a loading screen that reveals the location of a hidden Battle Pass tier you can then obtain. Additionally, by completing seven of these, you'll earn a Legendary skin that will remain a mystery for now.

Each week we'll have guides on the trickiest challenges to make things quicker and easier for you. However, this article will serve as a hub for all our guides so, as the season goes on, you'll be able to keep coming back here to get the latest guides as well as ones for previous weeks. This will be especially helpful if you decided to pick up a Battle Pass part of the way into the season. If you're wondering if it's worth the effort, you can take a look at all of Fortnite Season 6's new skins, cosmetics, emotes, sprays, and other items to unlock in this gallery of Fortnite Season 6 Battle Pass rewards.

Fortnite Week 8 Secret Banner Location (Hunting Party Challenge Guide, Season 6)

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 16, 2018 10:05 pm

Week 8 of Fortnite Season 6 is here, bringing a new assortment of challenges to complete in Epic's popular battle royale game across PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. If you're hoping to snag the rest of Season 6's Battle Pass rewards, you'll want to complete as many challenges as you can, as doing so will reward you with the XP and Battle Stars needed to unlock them.

That isn't the only incentive to complete challenges; if you manage to clear all of the ones from a given week, you'll also earn a special loading screen, which hides a clue pointing to a free item that's hidden somewhere around the map. Depending on how many sets of weekly challenges you complete, you'll either be able to find a free Battle Star--which will level your Battle Pass up by one tier--or a Banner that you can use as a profile icon.

If you've completed every challenge up to and including Week 8's, you'll unlock the loading screen pictured below. It features the AIM skin--the Legendary outfit you receive after completing seven of this season's Hunting Party challenges--perched atop a roof viewing at a holographic map of the island. Look closely at the background, however, and you'll notice the outline of a Banner etched on the chimney just behind the character.

No Caption Provided

The area alluded to in the loading screen is Flush Factory, located in the southern edge of the island. Glide there at the start of a match, land on top of the roof, and you'll find the Banner near the chimney just as teased. Collect it and you'll be able to use it as your icon. We've highlight its exact location on the map below.

As is the case with previous Hunting Party rewards, you'll need to complete the requisite number of challenges and unlock the aforementioned loading screen before being able to collect this Banner. The item won't appear on the map unless you've cleared all of the necessary steps, so you won't simply be able to go to its location and collect it without putting in the necessary work.

Season 6 of Fortnite is winding down, giving you only have a few more weeks to unlock the rest of its Battle Pass cosmetics and other rewards. Week 8's challenges are all fairly straightforward, although its trickier missions task you with shooting clay pigeons and dancing in front of fish trophies. Red Dead 2 Challenge Guide: All Challenges And How To Trigger Them

By Matt Espineli on Nov 16, 2018 10:05 pm

As you play Red Dead Redemption 2, you'll start to see notifications informing you that you've completed a challenge. Now this all sounds fine and dandy, but you're likely asking yourself: "What does completing challenges do? Heck, why should I even bother completing them?" That's a fair question, and we're here to answer it.

Challenges are gameplay feats you complete to earn XP and unlock upgraded equipment for purchase at your local trapper, such as new Gun Belts, Bandoliers, Holsters, and Off-Hand Holsters. Each piece posses its own perks that increase either ammo capacity or decrease weapon degradation rate. Equipping them even improves your general statistics, but more on that in a second.

There are nine challenge categories in total, each with ten feats to complete. As you'd expect, the feats vary per category. For example, the Bandit challenges has you working to hold up townsfolk, steal wagons, and amass a sizable bounty, while the Explorer challenges focus on you finding treasure. It's important to note that you must complete challenges in sequential order, so you can't just prioritize completing the seventh challenge over the first few only because it's easier.

Completing challenges is a worthwhile endeavor, as the equipment you unlock offer bonus bars around your Health, Stamina, and Dead Eye Cores when you complete the set. You are rewarded an extra bar when you complete one of the three sets associated with that statistic. And you unlock an additional bar to that statistic once you've acquired all three sets associated with it. The table below contains details on which equipment set is associated with which attribute.

AttributeEquipment Set
Health
  • Horseman
  • Sharpshooter
  • Weapons Expert
Stamina
  • Bandit
  • Gambler
  • Master Hunter
Dead Eye
  • Explorer
  • Herbalist
  • Survivalist

There's even an extra bonus in store for you upon completing all 90 challenges. You unlock a special outfit called "Legend of the East," which provides hefty bonuses to Arthur's statistics. If that's something you're aspiring towards, you're in luck as we've compiled every single challenge in the game for your reference, so get crackin'!

Harry Potter's Pokemon Go-Esque Game, Wizards Unite, Now Releasing In 2019

By Oscar Dayus on Nov 16, 2018 10:04 pm

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the mobile title currently in development at Pokemon Go developer Niantic, has been delayed. Harry Potter publishing site Pottermore says the AR game will now launch in 2019, although it didn't offer any specifics beyond that regarding a new release date.

Wizards Unite was previously scheduled to launch in 2018, though we never got a more precise release window than that. No reason has been given for the delay, though the game has received a new Wizards Unite trailer--take a look at that above.

Pottermore says Wizards Unite will incorporate elements from both Harry Potter and the spin-off Fantastic Beasts franchise. "Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover and fight legendary beasts, and team up with others to take down powerful enemies," Niantic said of Wizards Unite when it was first announced. A teaser accompanying today's news states that players will also "unravel a global mystery, cast spells, and encounter fantastic beasts and iconic characters along the way."

The second Fantastic Beasts film, The Crimes of Grindelwald, comes to theaters on November 16.

Wizards Unite will be the second game to launch under Warner Bros' Portkey Games label. The first was Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, a free-to-play RPG set before the novels. In addition, an open-world RPG set in the Potter universe is reportedly in development at Disney Infinity studio Avalanche Software.

Black Friday 2018 PS4 Ad Deals: The Best Places To Buy A PlayStation 4

By Chris Pereira on Nov 16, 2018 10:00 pm

In terms of sheer numbers, deals on individual games represent the bulk of the gaming offers we see on Black Friday. Based on what we've seen so far this year, that will again be the case, but it doesn't mean you have no cheap options for picking up a console like PS4.

Sony has announced its official Black Friday promotions on PS4, and it reflects what we've seen in the early ads we've seen released to date do include some very nice PlayStation 4 offers. One of Target's best gaming deals is a doorbuster that gets you a 1TB PS4 Slim and a copy of Spider-Man for only $200. You'll find an identical sale at both Best Buy, Walmart, and now Sam's Club, too. You could argue that would be a nice price for the system alone, but to get a $60 game that was just released in September makes it even sweeter, and it seems you'll be able to take advantage of this at numerous retailers. Unfortunately, those looking for a PS4 Pro appear to be out of luck (so far).

While this being available through at least stores is encouraging, if you're interested, you'll want to head to your local store (or to its website) as soon as possible on Black Friday. In some areas, stores will actually open on Thanksgiving Day, and Best Buy will have early access in the beginning of Thanksgiving week. You can check out the full Target ad or the store you plan on heading to for further details.

We're sure to see more deals pop up for PS4, and we'll continue to update this post as they emerge. We've already had one pre-Black Friday offer at Sam's Club that has now ended, though that required you to have a membership.

On the games side, we've already seen confirmed discounts for some of PS4's biggest games of the year, including God of War, NBA 2K19, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. We'll be hunting for deals all month long, so be sure to check back with us as more Black Friday ads are revealed, and check out our roundup of PS4 deals.

When Do Black Friday 2018 Deals & Sales Start?: Early Openings For Walmart, Target, Best Buy, And More

By Mat Elfring on Nov 16, 2018 09:56 pm

Consumers will be hitting the streets in order to pick up big ticket items like televisions, gaming consoles, and more on the cheap. Black Friday 2018 Deals: Date & Essential Shopping Tips

By Chris Reed on Nov 16, 2018 09:42 pm

Everyone knows the biggest shopping day of the year is Black Friday, and this year's monster sales event lands on November 23 (although some Black Friday deals will start earlier). It's the time when all the biggest retailers drop prices on items of all kinds--from video games and movies to TVs and furniture--in an effort to make a killing as the holiday shopping season officially begins.

Just like with any situation that can put a hefty strain on your credit cards, it's best to go into Black Friday prepared. We've already covered what to expect from Black Friday 2018, but below we've compiled some of the smartest ways to save as much money as possible on the things you want, while still being financially responsible.

1. Make a List Beforehand

Once the deals go live, it's easy to get swept up in the hype and go on a spending spree. When that happens, though, you'll often end up with a pile of items you don't actually need. If you make a list of what you really want before the Black Friday deals begin, you'll be better prepared to stick to the list and let the inessential deals pass you by, no matter how good the prices are.

2. Check the Ads

Nearly all of the big retailers that participate in Black Friday release Black Friday ads in the weeks leading up to the big event. You can find these pretty easily on their websites, or you can see our roundups of things like Target's gaming deals (or its best gaming deals). Take a look at the ads and make a plan for which items you want to buy, and where. Because stock can run out fast on the best deals, prioritize your purchases and plan what you want to buy and when it will be available.

3. Make a Budget

Getting great deals is a positive thing, but overextending yourself financially is not. If money is tight, a central part of your Black Friday planning should be making a budget and pledging to stick to it. Budgeting might not be the most fun or glamorous thing to do, but will help you out enormously in the long run.

4. Use Social Media

For real-time updates on when Black Friday sales go live, your best resource is social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. You can follow GameSpot Deals on Twitter to find bargains on video games, consoles, and accessories. Another great resource is SlickDeals, a sale-tracking site that surfaces the best deals in just about every product category (it has a Twitter account as well).

5. Comparison Shop

If you see a deal you want, it's always a good idea to check the item's price at other retailers before you buy. The only potential issue on Black Friday is missing out on highly sought-after items because you spent too much time looking elsewhere. So unless the deal you're considering is a doorbuster, you don't have anything to lose by exercising due diligence and comparing prices.

6. Check Price History

Unfortunately, not all of the deals you'll see on Black Friday represent top-of-the-line savings. To make sure the item you're about to buy is a good deal, it's wise to check a price history tracker like Camelcamelcamel. There, you can see how low the price has dropped in the past and how often it fluctuates, which can help you determine if now is a good time to buy.

7. Don't Get Bummed If You See a Better Deal Later

Once Black Friday rolls around, you'll see deals popping up left and right. Doorbusters will go in and out of stock, Amazon's Lightning Deals will flicker into existence before vanishing, and surprise deals will arrive at random. If you make a purchase and then see a better deal later, don't be too upset.

For one thing, you might be able to return the item you paid a higher price for. Just make sure to look at the retailer's return policy before buying at the lower price, because you might have to pay a restocking fee or cover the cost of return shipping. At that point, the better deal might not actually save you money once all is said and done.

Those are our Black Friday shopping tips. Let us know in the comments if you have tips of your own.

Survivor Series 2018 Rumors: Prepare For A Squash Match At The WWE PPV

By Mat Elfring on Nov 16, 2018 09:39 pm

Well, everything about WWE's PPV Survivor Series has changed now that Daniel Bryan is the WWE Champion and Charlotte is replacing Becky Lynch in the women's champion vs. champion match. Since then, the rumor mill has been pretty silent, but there are still plenty of older rumors which may or may not come true.

It is less than a week before WWE's big fall event, Survivor Series. The PPV has the rosters of Raw and Smackdown fight each other to determine which is the dominant brand, and the vast majority of the matches will revolve around this theme.

We'll see champions fighting champions with Brock Lesnar taking on AJ Styles and Ronda Rousey battling Becky Lynch. As of this writing, there will be no titles on the line as Survivor Series is all about brand supremacy. Is Raw or Smackdown the better show? Well, Smackdown is, no matter who wins.

This event is coming to the WWE Network and PPV on Sunday, November 18. The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California will host Survivor Series, which starts at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT, and while a pre-show hasn't been announced yet, we're assuming a two-hour long Kickoff Show will open up the PPV.

The card is slowly coming together, and with the card come rumors from industry insiders, fan theories, and dream concepts that will never come to fruition. We scoured the internet for all the most plausible rumors that have people talking and found that there's nothing too shocking planned for Survivor Series yet.

Below are the latest rumors for Survivor Series. We'll keep you updated if anything changes or these get confirmed prior to the PPV.

No Caption Provided

Possible Tag Team Match

Newly crowned Raw Tag Team Champions, AOP, will more than likely take on Smackdown's Tag Team Champions, The Bar. The match hasn't been announced yet, but considering all the other champions are booked in Survivor Series matches, this seems like a no brainer. However, it may be relegated to the Kickoff Show.

UPDATE: The match was added.

Full Men's Survivor Series Teams

According to PW Insider, the Raw vs. Smackdown Men's match will contain Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Dolph Ziggler on Raw's team and Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, Rey Mysterio, The Miz, and Randy Orton on Smackdown's team. Shane McMahon and Baron Corbin will work in opposite corners as managers for the event.

UPDATE: Bobby Lashley was added to the men's team. However, Kurt Angle will not be involved. Instead, Finn Balor made the Raw team. And Randy Orton will not be on Smackdown's team. Instead, Shane McMahon took his place. However, there are more rumors that McMahon will be removed from the match on the November 14 episode of Smackdown.

Shane Heel Turn

Shane McMahon will be using his Crown Jewel World Cup win as part of a heel turn, using the "Best in the World" monicker. This is all part of a long-time plan on Smackdown, according to Wrestling Observer.

Luke Harper Injured

The Bludgeon Brother is seen wearing a cast in a photo from comedian Brad Williams. That may explain why he hasn't been on TV recently.

Why Strowman Isn't The Champ

Most WWE fans were baffled at Brock Lesnar beating Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel. However, it may be because the Monster Among Men has a bunch of heat backstage. According to Wrestling Inc, Strowman doesn't show up to work on time and has a bit of a reputation for leaving these same shows early. Additionally, he's working with some knee injuries as well, which is why he looks a little awkward running around.

Why Bliss Won't Be Wrestling At The PPV

You've probably noticed Alexa Bliss will not be competing at Survivor Series, as she's now just the captain of the Raw women's team. The reason why is because she may have had multiple concussions in a short period of time, with her last match being back on October 19, via Wrestling News. She's not 100% out, but her actually fighting at the show is extremely unlikely.

UPDATE: She's captain of the Raw women's team, but not wrestling.

Cross-Brand Attack!

Much like last year's Survivor Series, there is a good change we could see members of Smackdown or Raw appear on the opposite shows this week, to help build some story for the Raw vs. Smackdown Survivor Series matches.

UPDATE: Becky Lynch and the Smackdown women's roster appeared on the November 12 episode of Raw and beat down the women's Survivor Series Raw team.

Ronda Rousey Gets Her First Loss

According to Rajah and a few other places, Ronda Rousey will get her first official loss at Survivor Series. However, it won't be a clean win for Becky Lynch. Apparently, Nia Jax and Tamina will interfere, giving Lynch the win. However, there is another rumor that Charlotte will interfere, which again, will give Lynch the win.

UPDATE: Because of Becky Lynch's injury, this will most likely not happen.

The Worst Becky Lynch Rumor Yet

Obviously, there is a ton of hype around the Becky Lynch/Ronda Rousey match at Survivor Series, but what if we told you that WWE is planning on canceling that match? According to WWG writer Robert Workman, WWE is considering pulling the match from the card. Why? Well, the company may have to follow concussion protocol after Lynch's nose got busted open on Raw. Please don't let this happen.

UPDATE: Lynch was removed from Survivor Series and replaced by Charlotte.

Lesnar Destroys Bryan

With Daniel Bryan winning the WWE Championship on a recent episode of Smackdown, that means he'll be coming face-to-face with Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. This is going to be a squash match. It won't last long, and Bryan will take a beating. That's how Lesnar matches work now. Why is he champ again?

Make sure to come back to GameSpot on Sunday, November 18 for live coverage and a review of the event.

Survivor Series 2018: How To Watch The WWE PPV

By Mat Elfring on Nov 16, 2018 09:33 pm

Coming to a TV screen near you on Sunday, November 18 is WWE's next major PPV, Survivor Series. If you follow the sports entertainment's programming, you're probably pretty interested in watching this or Saturday's NXT Takeover: Wargames II. There are two ways to watch Survivor Series, through your local cable or satellite provider or through the WWE Network.

This year's event will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The PPV begins at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT with a Kickoff Show starting two hours prior. Survivor Series has a longer Kickoff than most of the other PPVs the past couple of years.

If you're looking to watch the event for yourself, you could check with your local sports bars to see if any of them are hosting the show, or you can watch it at home. There are two ways to watch Survivor Series from the comfort of your own home. You could order the PPV through your local cable or satellite provider, which averages around $50.

However, you can actually watch Survivor Series for free by signing up for the WWE Network. The streaming service is offering one month for free if you sign up now with no obligation. After the free period is up, you'll be billed $10 a month and be able to watch all of WWE's events through the service, including PPVs. However, there is no contract, so you can cancel at any time.

The WWE Network is available a variety of ways. You can use your gaming consoles, streaming devices, your computer, or certain smart TVs to access the service. Check out the full list of ways to watch the WWE Network below, but keep in mind you will have to download a WWE app to your device to access the service.

Black Friday 2018 Starts Soon; All Deals For Target, Walmart, GameStop, Best Buy Games, TVs, Movies, And More

By Chris Pereira on Nov 16, 2018 09:33 pm

Black Friday 2018 is now just a week away, but with some stores starting their deals early, it's technically even closer than that. If you're really eager to start shopping, Ebay has a pre-Black Friday sale where it's undercutting the deals that have been announced, and Best Buy has launched a pre-Black Friday sale running through Saturday, November 17. Additionally, the Xbox Store's sale is live for Xbox Live Gold members.

Black Friday officially takes place on November 23, but we now have a great sense of what to expect on the deals front. We started out by getting Target's ad early, giving us a look at what will be on sale across games, tech, and entertainment, and that's been followed by several other huge ones, Walmart and Best Buy. Everything from 4K TVs to PS4, Xbox One X, and Nintendo Switch are on sale, not to mention games and movies ranging from Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Star Wars to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Deadpool 2. GameStop has also shared an early version of its ad, though it doesn't appear to be comprehensive just yet.

As always, tracking what's on sale and where can be an overwhelming task, as can determining what the best deals are. We'll be doing our best to help you stay on top of this so you can make the most of Black Friday (and Cyber Monday immediately after that) without having to drown in a sea of circulars and hastily scrawled post-it notes. Below, you'll find our complete coverage of the event; be sure to check back as more ads are revealed in the lead up to the big day.

If you're interested in what Target will have to offer on the gaming front without wading through a long list, we've rounded up some recommendations on the best deals it has this year. This covers consoles (with deals on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One) and games for those systems.

Xbox Live

Xbox Store Game Deals

Xbox Live's annual Black Friday sale is already live if you've an Xbox Live Gold member, getting you discounts on digital games. It runs through November 27, although even once it opens up to non-Gold members, the deals may not be quite as good if you're not a subscriber.

Microsoft Store

Microsoft Store Game Deals

Kohl's

Kohl's Game Deals

Kohl's doesn't sell many games, but it oftentimes has some excellent deals come Black Friday. 2018 is no exception, as it might be the best place to buy an Xbox One X.

Kohl's Tech Deals

Kohl's might primarily be a clothes retailer, but it does sell a limited number of electronics, like TVs. These are discounted in addition to netting you some Kohl's Cash.

Sam's Club

Although you'll need a membership to take advantage, Sam's Club has some good offers on gaming and tech items, although its game deals are only on PS4 and Xbox One and simply match what we've seen elsewhere.

Games

Best Games Deals

Below you'll find roundups of all the deals on specific games, but we've also assembled a list of what we think are Black Friday 2018's best deals across PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

2018's new entry in the Assassin's Creed series will be discounted on Black Friday, despite the fact that it only released in late October.

No Caption Provided

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Black Ops 4 represented a significant shift for the Call of Duty series, dumping a traditional single-player campaign and introducing a battle royale mode, Blackout. It's another game that, despite having only just been released, will be on sale come Black Friday.

Forza Horizon 4

Playground Games' terrific open-world driving game, Forza Horizon 4, is among the many games you'll find on sale this Black Friday. While you can play it through Xbox Game Pass, those looking to buy their own copy have numerous options.

God of War

God of War has been one of the year's standout games so far. It will be discounted this Black Friday, and thanks to the fact that it came out earlier in the year, the savings are even greater than with some of its fellow triple-A games that launched more recently.

SoulCalbur VI

The newest entry in the SoulCalibur series is a good one, and it of course brings with it a guest character--The Witcher's Geralt. Despite having only come out in late October, you'll find it for nearly half price on Black Friday.

NBA 2K19

The most popular basketball game series returns with another strong entry in 2018. As with all of the year's big annual sports games, NBA 2K19 sees a nice discount on Black Friday.

GTA 5

With more than 100 million copies shipped, it seems like everyone should own a copy of Grand Theft Auto V by now. That's apparently not the case, as it continues to sell extremely well--and if you're among those looking to pick it up, you can do so on the cheap this Black Friday

WWE 2K19

WWE's annual wrestling sim, WWE 2K19, features a larger roster than ever before. And like so many of the other fall releases, this is one that will be on sale come Black Friday.

FIFA 19

Another popular annual sports game is FIFA 19, which comes packed with a variety of different modes, including the wildly popular Ultimate Team. You'll have some extra cash to pump into FUT thanks to these Black Friday deals.

Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection

There's never been a better time to jump into Destiny 2 thanks to the release of the Forsaken expansion. Legendary Collection gets you the base game and all DLC released for it to date.

Rainbow Six Siege

Although it's now a couple years old, Ubisoft's competitive shooter continues to grow strong, thanks in large part to a consistent stream of new content. As you'd expect, Siege will be discounted this Black Friday.

Pokemon

If you've got a need to catch 'em all, there's some good options on picking up a Pokemon game, and the hardware to play it. Although the latest games to be released in the franchise are Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, they're unlikely to be discounted soon. Instead, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon can be purchased at a good price, and they're great games too. If you need hardware to play the games, there's a pretty nice 2DS bundle too.

Madden NFL 19

Want to challenge your friends and family to some virtual football this holiday season? The latest entry in the Madden series is the way to go. Whether you're an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 owner, there's discounts across all versions available.

Movies

Marvel Movies

Marvel movies are among the biggest in the industry, and so Black Friday wouldn't be complete without the MCU being discounted. These include recent 4K releases like Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Tips And Previews

When Do Black Friday Sales Begin?

It's difficult enough to keep track of all the deals, but further complicating matters are the way in which sales are staggered. No longer can you expect to just show up on Friday (or Thursday night) and be early--sales are starting hours or even days before then. We've done our best to compile all of this information in a digestible way.

What to Expect

We should have a firm idea of everything that will be on sale well in advance of Black Friday, but while we wait for all of the ads to come in, we've previewed what to expect from this year's big day. That may help you determine if you should buy something now or wait for a possible deal later this month.

Black Friday Tips

Anybody can walk into a story on Black Friday or browse to a retailer's website, but there are tips and tricks to best approaching it. We've put together a guide to help you make the most of all the big sales.

Destiny 2 Black Armory Launch Plans Outlined

By Steve Watts on Nov 16, 2018 09:32 pm

Bungie has given word on when to expect Destiny 2's next big paid update, Black Armory, along with a heads-up about some growing pains that may come along with it. The new content will drop on December 4, and Bungie warns that the week prior may raise unforeseen issues as it prepares to roll out the update.

In an update on the official blog, the team says it is working to make a list of temporary changes so players will know what to expect, and it encourages anyone impacted by unexpected bugs help forum.

The Black Armory is part of the new Season of the Forge, which will begin on November 27. It will be followed by the Season of the Drifter, followed by another unnamed season. Season of the Forge will add the new The Dawning event, new Crucible content, and new weapons. Annual Pass holders who can access the Black Armory will get Light and Fury weapons, the new Forges of the Chain activity, a Raid Lair, Exotics, and Legendaries.

The blog also noted a set of changes coming to the PvP/PvE hybrid Gambit Mode. Infamy will be more readily available, with Infamy rank point awards for all bounties being doubled. Various challenges have been retuned to be easier to complete and a new bounty rewards Primeval envoy kills. Ranking up in subdivisions will award Legendary weapons and armor. Plus the players who receive their Primeval second can only receive one "catch-up" stack of Primeval Slayer, rather than multiple stacks based on performance.

If you need to rack up Infamy, next week will be the time. A Double Infamy event will take place next Tuesday, November 20 through Friday, November 23, followed by a Triple Infamy event from November 23 through Tuesday, November 27.

Finally, Bungie suggested the transition into the next year of Destiny 2 will come with its own changes and plans for the future. The company has previously said it has a full year of content planned following Forsaken. Black Armory will be the first piece of content for Annual Pass holders and more free content for everyone is coming.

"The time has come to begin a new conversation about how the Destiny endgame will continue to thrive in the months to come," the blog states. "What will each Season hold for every player of Destiny 2? How will the Annual Pass add to that experience? These are the questions we want to answer as we introduce you to a whole way to to enjoy your hobby as a Guardians with new challenges to conquer and new rewards you'll want to add to your inventory.

"Next week, as the holiday season begins in our neck of the woods, the news coming out of our studio will be random and light. The week after, we'll be exploring all the details of another kind of season. Stay tuned for what comes next."

This comes just after Activision publicly noted that Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion failed to meet sales targets. In that call, the company signaled that it would be looking for new ways for players to spend through in-game microtransactions. As Bungie plans whatever it has in store for seasonal content, it may also have to make changes to answer for revenue expectations from the game's publisher.

WWE Survivor Series 2018 Match Card: Still A Few Surprises Coming

By Mat Elfring on Nov 16, 2018 09:29 pm

Because of the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia earlier this month, WWE hasn't had the time to really build up Survivor Series like it's done in the past, which is a bit of a bummer. The only match that had any hype behind it was Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey, and now Lynch can't compete. Because of this, there is still a hole in the Survivor Series schedule, mere hours before the PPV. There is still a slot that needs to be filled on the women's Survivor Series match, and we probably won't find out who is filling in until Sunday, November 18 when the PPV airs.

The next WWE PPV has the superstars from Raw and Smackdown competing against each other, which is one of the two times during the year you get to see this--with the other being Money in the Bank. All of the champions from both shows will fight each other, and both Raw and Smackdown will have three different traditional Survivor Series elimination matches as well.

The PPV comes to the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, November 18 with the main card starting at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT and a Kickoff Show most likely starting two hours prior. The schedule for the day of the event is not up, but major WWE events like Summerslam, Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania tend to have a longer pre-show. You can watch both the Kickoff and main card for yourself on traditional PPV through your TV provider or on the WWE Network.

It's going to be a big evening to determine which show is the dominant brand. As of this writing, there are seven matches on the card with more than a week before the event airs. Of course, we'll see Raw's Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, take on Smackdown's WWE Champion, AJ Styles. Lesnar recently won the vacated title after a battle with Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel. This is the exact same match fans got at Survivor Series in 2017. Additionally, another former UFC fighter will also be defending her title. Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey takes on Smackdown Women's Champion Becky Lynch.

Below, you'll find the match card for Survivor Series, but keep in mind that many of these matches are not finalized. The traditional 5-on-5 elimination matches are coming together, and below the main match card, we've listed out the competitors booked for each match, so far.

Survivor Series Match Card:

  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Champion Daniel Bryan
  • Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte
  • Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura

  • Men's Survivor Series Match
  • Tag Team Survivor Series Match [Kickoff Match]

NXT Takeover Wargames II: Match Card, Date, And How To Watch The 2018 WWE PPV

By Mat Elfring on Nov 16, 2018 09:18 pm

This should be an exciting weekend for WWE fans, as this Sunday is Survivor Series, and on Saturday, is the 2nd annual NXT event Takeover: Wargames II. The main even of the evening will be insane, as two teams of four will be locked inside a cell, and inside that cell are two rings. It's a classic WCW match that finally has a home at NXT.

Inside this wargames match will be two teams of four competitors. It will be the War Raiders (Hanson and Rowe), Pete Dunne, and Ricochet vs. the Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O'Reilly). One member of each team will start in the ring, then after five minutes a member of Undisputed Era enters the ring, and then after three more minutes, a member of the War Raiders team will enter. After that, every three minutes a member of each team will rotate, until all eight have entered the match. Once all participants have entered, Wargames can be won, and it's over when someone is pinned or made to submit.

Amazingly enough, this NXT Takeover will have more must-see matches, including Tommaso Ciampa vs. Velveteen Dream for the NXT Championship. In addition, there's a NXT Women's Championship rematch between Kairi Sane and current champ Shayna Baszler, who defeated Sane in a classic battle at last month's Evolution. This time around, it will be a 2-out-of-3 falls match for the title.

Wargames II is coming to the WWE Network on Saturday, November 17. Los Angeles' Staples Center will host the show, which kicks off at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT, with a kickoff show starting 30 minutes prior. There will be four matches on the card, but don't let the lack of matches fool you. The card is stacked.

This all takes place during Survivor Series weekend. If you've been keeping up with what's going on, the match card has changed quite a bit, including Becky Lynch being replaced with Charlotte and Daniel Bryan beating AJ Styles for the WWE Championship, which means Styles will no longer be fighting Brock Lesnar, regardless of what the video above says.

Anyway, check out the full match card below, a WWE event that is quickly becoming one of the best NXT PPVs each year.

NXT Wargames II Match Card:

  • Aleister Black vs. Johnny Gargano
  • Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Kairi Sane -- NXT Women's Championship 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match
  • Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Velveteen Dream -- NXT Championship Match
  • Ricochet, Pete Dunne & The War Raiders vs. Undisputed Era -- Wargames Match

Make sure to come back to GameSpot on Sunday, November 18 for live coverage of Survivor Series.
