Nintendo Warns That Pokemon May Disappear When Transferring From Go To Let's Go

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 19, 2018 11:56 pm

When transferring your Pokemon from Pokemon Go to Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu / Let's Go Eevee, make sure you don't do anything to interrupt the process, says Nintendo. Interrupting the transfer could result in you losing some of your Pokemon from Pokemon Go.

To make sure the process isn't interrupted, Nintendo highlighted some best practices on its support site. When you decide to start moving your Pokemon from Go over into Let's Go, make sure to avoid clicking the home or power button on your Switch. You also don't want to press the home button, turn off Bluetooth, or suspend the Pokemon Go app on your mobile device. Nintendo also advises keeping your mobile device and Switch console close together during the process to ensure a smooth transition.

Following this advice should prevent any problems when you transfer your Pokemon. If you notice that your transfer has somehow paused itself or did not completely move all your Pokemon over, Nintendo advises you turn off the Pokemon Go app and uninstall it. After reinstalling the game, you should be able to resume the transfer again. However, any Pokemon that were in between your mobile device and Switch may be lost for good, "as uninstalling and reinstalling the app would cause the transfer process to be stuck in limbo."

If you're having trouble transferring any of your Pokemon from Go to Let's Go--including the Pokemon Go exclusive Meltan--check out our guide. For even more Let's Go tips, check out our list of 9 things you should know before starting and our guide to getting Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

In our Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu / Let's Go, Eevee review, Jake Dekker gave the two games an 8/10, writing, "...Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are delightful reimaginings of the series' origins and a deep RPG in their own right. It makes a lot of smart improvements on the original Red, Blue and Yellow while holding on to what made them so special in the first place."

Xbox Boss Promises "A Lot To Share" At E3 2019

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 19, 2018 11:54 pm

Microsoft executive vice-president of gaming Phil Spencer has teased that Xbox has "a lot to share" at E3 2019. Spencer tweeted about the event moments after Sony announced it would not be attending E3 next year.

"A lot to share with fans at E3 2019. Always a high point of the year to witness the industry's creativity and the energy of the community," Spencer tweeted. An hour later, Xbox followed up by tweeting out to fans that the company "can't wait" to see everyone at E3 2019. Although the company has not confirmed it, one of the announcements that Xbox is looking to share could be the new console teased at E3 2018.

Xbox may be presenting at a different time for E3 2019 as well. Xbox business lead for Asia Jeremy Hinton tweeted that Microsoft would be moving its presentation time in consideration of Australian viewers. We've reached out to Microsoft to confirm, as well as whether the company intends to have its E3 presentation outside the event hall, like this past year.

The absence of Sony from E3 2019 will be the first time the company won't be attending the event since E3 was founded. Sony has shared the spotlight at E3 with both Microsoft and Nintendo for a number of years, so it's a fairly big surprise to see the company willingly sit out. The first details that Sony wouldn't be in attendance were announced via the ESA. Sony followed-up with a confirmation.

"As the industry evolves, Sony Interactive Entertainment continues to look for inventive opportunities to engage the community," the company said in a statement to GameSpot. "PlayStation fans mean the world to us and we always want to innovate, think differently and experiment with new ways to delight gamers. As a result, we have decided not to participate in E3 in 2019. We are exploring new and familiar ways to engage our community in 2019 and can't wait to share our plans with you."

Black Friday 2018 PS4 Early Deals Live Now: Best & Cheapest Places To Buy A PlayStation 4

By Chris Pereira on Nov 19, 2018 11:54 pm

Those in the market for a PlayStation 4 are in luck: Black Friday week is officially upon us, and it's brought with a nice bundle. Alongside early deals from places like Best Buy (for My Best Buy members), retailers have taken certain deals online early, including those on PS Plus and PS4. If you're interested in a PS4, that means you don't have to wait or deal with the lines on Black Friday.

Sony's official Black Friday promotions on PS4 essentially lays out what the early ads and deals from stores are offering. When it comes to PS4 itself, the big deal is a $200 bundle including a 1 TB console and a copy of Marvel's Spider-Man. You'll find an identical sale at Best Buy, Walmart, and a number of other retailers, and they're all live right now--even Target, which labeled this as a doorbuster in its ad.

You could argue that $200 would be a nice price for the system alone, but to get a $60 game that was just released in September makes it even sweeter. Unfortunately, those looking for a PS4 Pro have far fewer options; there is a $405 Spider-Man bundle on Ebay as of this writing, but little beyond that.

If you're waiting for other deals, many stores will actually open on Thanksgiving Day, and as noted above, Best Buy early access has already begun. We're sure to see more deals pop up for PS4, and we'll continue to update this post as they emerge.

On the games side, we've already seen confirmed discounts for some of PS4's biggest games of the year, including God of War, NBA 2K19, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. We'll be hunting for deals all month long, so be sure to check back with us as more Black Friday ads are revealed, and check out our roundup of PS4 deals.

Xbox One Update Supports Mouse And Keyboard Control For Select Titles, Like Fortnite

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 19, 2018 11:52 pm

The November 2018 Xbox One update is officially live, and it adds mouse and keyboard support to certain games on the console. The choice of whether a game on Xbox One supports mouse and keyboard controls will be up to individual developers, and nearly a dozen are planning to add the feature to their games in the near future.

Microsoft has announced in a blog post that Fortnite and Warframe now support mouse and keyboard controls. Gaijin Entertainment's War Thunder supports the new control scheme as well. Support is expected to launch for Bomber Crew, Deep Rock Galactic, Strange Brigade, Vermintide 2, and X-Morph Defense later this month. Children of Morta, DayZ, Minion Master, Moonlighter, Vigor, Warface, and Wargroove are scheduled to be updated with mouse and keyboard controls at a later date.

The new update also opens the Alexa Beta program--which allows you control your Xbox One with your voice--to the UK. Improvements have been made to the Cortana feature on US Xbox One's as well, and new commands for both Alexa and Cortana that allow you to completely navigate through your console's menus with your voice have been implemented across the US and UK. The update also adds the Amazon Music app to Xbox One consoles, as well as an expanded search function for finding games.

Last week, Microsoft revealed a selection of Designed for Xbox mice and keyboard peripherals, created in partnership with Razer. The new tech will be shown off at CES in January 2019. Microsoft says these are going to be "created for living room or desktop scenarios, come equipped with a dedicated Xbox key, and support the new Xbox Dynamic Lighting feature enabling immersive in-game lighting effects."

Pokemon Let's Go: How To Get Bulbasaur, Squirtle, And Charmander

By Kallie Plagge on Nov 19, 2018 11:51 pm

While they aren't direct remakes, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee closely follow 1998's Pokemon Yellow, in which you started the game with Pikachu. Instead of Red and Blue's choice of Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle, you start Let's Go with either Pikachu or Eevee, depending on your version. However, just like in Yellow, you'll be able to get each of the three original starter Pokemon if you know where to look.

There are two ways to get the Gen 1 starters: You can catch them in the wild, or you can receive them as one-time gifts from NPCs. The NPC route is the easiest, since the starters can be somewhat hard to find in the wild, and the Pokemon you receive as gifts will always have relatively good stats. All you need to do is catch enough Pokemon total to meet the NPCs' requirements--this includes repeats of Pokemon you've already caught, so it's all about quantity.

  • Bulbasaur: Given by a woman in a house in Cerulean City once you've caught 30 Pokemon total
    • Lvl 12; knows Tackle, Growl, Vine Whip, and Leech Seed
  • Charmander: Given by a man on Route 24 north of Nugget Bridge once you've caught 50 Pokemon total
    • Lvl 14; knows Scratch, Growl, Smokescreen, and Ember
  • Squirtle: Given by Officer Jenny in Vermillion City once you've caught 60 Pokemon total
    • Lvl 16; knows Tackle, Tail Whip, Bubble, and Withdraw

Additionally, you can capture the starters in the wild. We've seen Bulbasaur in Viridian Forest, Charmander in Rock Tunnel, and Squirtle on Route 24 and the Seafoam Islands. We will update this article with any other locations they've been found, so let us know if there's anything we missed.

Pokemon Let's Go: Pokemon Go Transfers Explained

By Kallie Plagge on Nov 19, 2018 11:50 pm

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee take a number of cues from the wildly successful Pokemon Go. The new Switch games borrow Pokemon Go's catching mechanics, for example, and in doing so introduce a major change to the Pokemon RPG formula. But on top of that, you can also connect Pokemon Go to Let's Go directly and transfer any first-generation Pokemon you've caught onto your Switch.

Before you begin, know that once you transfer a Pokemon from Go to Let's Go, you cannot undo it--that Pokemon is gone from your Go account forever. Other than that, there aren't many restrictions. You can disconnect your Go account from your Switch at any time, so if your friend wants to give you a Pokemon, they can connect their Go account to your Switch with no problem. This is a lot easier than trading the Pokemon in Go itself before transferring, as Pokemon Go trades can cost quite a bit of Stardust.

How To Connect

Connecting your Go account to your Switch is relatively straightforward. In Pokemon Go, open Settings and select Nintendo Switch > Connect to Nintendo Switch. Then, go to the Options menu in Let's Go and select Open Pokemon Go Settings. When asked if you would like to pair a Pokemon Go account, say yes. As long as both devices are actively "searching" for each other, your Switch should be able to find your Pokemon Go account and allow you to connect.

How To Transfer

To initiate the transfer, head to the Go Park complex in Fuchsia City. Talk to the man at the front desk, select Bring Pokemon, pick a Go Park, and then select Start Communication. From there, open your Pokemon list in Pokemon Go, press the Nintendo Switch icon, and then select the Pokemon you want to transfer. Remember that this is permanent, and the transfer is one-way.

Once transferred, enter the Go Park you selected during the transfer, where you'll be able to find the Pokemon. Just walk up to the Pokemon and press A to initiate catching it. And don't worry--if it happens to run away during the catch sequence, you can just try again. You also have 20 Go Parks available with space for 50 Pokemon each, and there's no limit on how long they'll stay in the parks.

How Stats Work

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

Before you transfer a Pokemon, get it appraised in Pokemon Go. We followed Pokemon Go Hub's guide to check our Pokemon's stats in Go before transferring them, and we found that the stats do transfer (though the CP won't be the same). Pokemon in Go have three stats--HP, Attack, and Defense--while those in Let's Go have the full six, so the stats end up mirrored. For example, a Pokemon with perfect Attack in Go will have both perfect Attack and Special Attack in Let's Go. The same goes for Defense and Special Defense. The only stat that is randomized as far as we can tell is Speed, so keep this in mind when you're catching your transferred Pokemon.

How To Get Meltan

No Caption Provided

Although the transfer from Go to Let's Go is one way, you do get a bonus in Go for doing it: a Mystery Box. This item allows you to catch Meltan, a new Pokemon that currently is only catchable in Go and can be transferred into Let's Go. You can read our full guide on how to catch Meltan and its evolved form, Melmetal, for more details.

For even more Pokemon Let's Go tips, check out our list of things you should know before starting and our guide to getting Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in the Switch games. Finally, be sure to read our Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee review for our full thoughts on the game.

Ashe Goes Live In Overwatch And Update Changes Other Heroes; Here Are The Full Patch Notes

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 19, 2018 11:49 pm

A new update for Overwatch officially adds Ashe to the game. This new Hero's addition is accompanied by a general update for all other Heroes, tweaks for four specific characters, map changes, and bug fixes.

Although this new update adds Ashe to Overwatch, she won't be added to Competitive Play until two weeks after her release. Ashe is one of Overwatch's more versatile offensive Heroes, possessing abilities that can deal precise damage from range or area-of-effect in close quarters. Her primary weapon, Viper, is a lever-action rifle that can fire in semi-automatic bursts or precise long-range shots. Coach Gun allows her to deal major damage to targets at close-range and her Dynamite ability throws out a timed explosive. Her ultimate, B.O.B., summons her omnic companion seen in McCree's animated short, who targets enemies hiding out of Ashe's reach.

The new update also implements several large Hero changes that were previously tested in Overwatch's Public Test Region. The first change makes jump height consistent across the entire roster of characters, so no one Hero will now jump higher or lower than another. The power of Mercy's ultimate has also increased, as well as how quickly it charges. Reaper has been adjusted to make him a more consistent pick for close-range combat. Symmetra's primary weapon now has a faster fire rate, allowing her to more easily hold her own in a fight. Roadhog has undergone the most changes, with his Chain Hook, Scrap Gun, and Whole Hog all receiving major updates.

The exact changes that are now live for Mercy, Reaper, Symmetra, and Roadhog are listed in the full patch notes on Overwatch's main website. We've listed out the other major changes--map updates and bug fixes--below.

Overwatch is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Overwatch November 13 Character And Map Updates, And Bug Fixes

Hero Updates

Mercy

Developer Comments: Mercy's ultimate was charging a bit too slowly after her base healing was reduced in a previous update. These changes should restore some of her ultimate's strength and let it build up more quickly.

Reaper

Developer Comments: Reaper's specialty is fighting at a very close range. The more consistent spread pattern and increase in healing from his passive ability will make him more capable of standing toe-to-toe with his enemies.

Symmetra

Developer Comments: It's still difficult to use Symmetra's Photon Projector beam effectively, even after its range was increased. By speeding up the primary fire charge rate, it takes less time to ramp up to its full damage potential and will be a stronger option when she's presented with targets to charge up on.

Roadhog

Developer Comments: Roadhog is receiving several large changes to make his abilities more consistent. His Chain Hook had issues with breaking when enemy targets jumped or fell behind environment collision. It will now slow them down in the air more when the hook lands, and wait less time before it starts reeling them in. Since Chain Hook's cooldown now begins immediately upon use, so it no longer varies based on Roadhog's distance to the hook target. We've also moved some of the projectiles closer to the center of the spread pattern on his Scrap Gun, which gives him a more consistent damage output for its primary and alternate fire. Previously, there was a long-standing bug that caused close-range targets to fly much further than expected. After this bug was fixed, we still wanted to keep some of the knockback burst it provided, so we've increased the overall velocity cap to maintain some of that functionality.

Map Updates

  • Reduced the setup timer for Assault, Escort, and Assault/Escort maps from 1 minute to 45 seconds
  • Assemble Your Team timer increased from 10 to 25 seconds in the second round on Assault, Assault/Escort, and Escort maps

Red Dead 2 Camp Bug Will Be Addressed, Says Rockstar

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 19, 2018 11:47 pm

Rockstar has announced that it is working on an issue that is affecting Red Dead Redemption 2. Currently, a bug in the game can cause Sadie, Jack, John, and Abigail--four of Arthur Morgan's camp companions--to disappear after the completion of chapter two.

"If you completed the mission 'Polite Society, Valentine Style' at the start of Chapter 2, but needed to use the Retry Checkpoint feature, then Sadie, Jack, John, and Abigail will only appear in camp when they have missions for you to complete," Rockstar wrote in a Q&A blog post. "We are aware of the issue and are currently working on a fix to be included in an upcoming Title Update."

While Rockstar works on a solution for the bug, the developer advises all players who have yet to complete "Polite Society, Valentine Style" to do so without retrying from a checkpoint. If you fail the mission, make sure you immediately abandon and restart it, or load an earlier save. These are currently the only ways to avoid encountering the glitch.

If you've already encountered the bug, you'll have to keep playing RDR2 until chapter four to see Sadie, Jack, John, and Abigail in the camp again. You will miss the four character's unique conversations unless you reload a previous save from before "Polite Society, Valentine Style" to avoid the glitch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available for Xbox One and PS4. In our review, Kallie Plagge gave the game a 9/10, writing, "Red Dead Redemption 2 is an excellent prequel, but it's also an emotional, thought-provoking story in its own right, and it's a world that is hard to leave when it's done."

Undertale's Follow-Up, Deltarune, Is Far From Finished, Says Toby Fox

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 19, 2018 11:41 pm

Toby Fox released the first chapter of a new RPG, called Deltarune, on October 31, 2018. Fox admits this three-hour chapter is all of Deltarune that he currently has, and the rest of the game is still years away from being finished. Which is a little disappointing, as we love what he's created so far.

Prior to the game's release, Fox wrote down his answers to questions about the new game that he thought people might have. He released his answers only after Deltarune: Chapter 1 came out, so his opinion on certain aspects of the game's development might have changed in response to the positive reception.

Regarding when fans can expect the next chapter, Fox said that Chapter 1 took "a few years" to make, which is longer than development of Undertale's demo. As of right now, Fox doesn't want to spend more than seven years on any one project, so finishing Deltarune is "actually impossible" unless he recruits more people. "So I'm going to try making a team," Fox said. "Because I really want to make this. But I may not be able to succeed because I have no experience successfully directing a team and I have no idea who I'm going to work with."

Fox currently has no timetable for Deltarune, but he promises that he'll release all the chapters at once if the game is made. "I'm not doing pre-orders because I don't like those," he added. "It just seems like the best way not to burn anybody."

In his Q&A, Fox also addresses whether or not Deltarune will have multiple endings like Undertale. "No matter what you do the ending will be the same," he said. He also iterated that Deltarune's world is not the same as Undertale. Despite the two's similarity in setting and characters, Deltarune is a game featuring "different characters, that have lived different lives." He does add that Deltarune is "just a game you can play after you complete Undertale" though, so future chapters of the game might make more sense or take on additional meaning if you complete Undertale first.

The rest of the Q&A mostly deals with Fox's own complaints with Deltarune: Chapter 1--namely the battle system--and his affirmation that he's never going to use Kickstarter again. Fox took to Twitter after the Q&A's release to thank those who helped him on Deltarune: Chapter 1 and clarify a few more details. Most noticeable is his tweet about his inspiration for Deltarune. Although Undertale came out first, Deltarune was the original game he wanted to make.

Deltarune: Chapter 1 is available for PC. Undertale is available for PS4, PS Vita, PC, and Nintendo Switch--with the Switch version on sale this Black Friday.

Red Dead Redemption 2 -- Legendary Bear Pelt Guide: Here's What To Do With It

By Phil Hornshaw on Nov 19, 2018 11:29 pm

When you're not robbing, riding from town to town, and trying to keep rescue your fellow gangsters from the law in Red Dead Redemption 2, chances are pretty good you'll be hunting. Tracking and killing animals keeps you and your gang fed and earns you crafting materials, as well as goods to sell to make money to get Arthur better equipment. But for any hunter in Red Dead Redemption 2, the ultimate prize are the various Legendary Animals scattered around the map, whose pelts yield unique rewards--if you're canny enough to bring them down.

In Chapter 2, you'll be introduced to your first Legendary Animal in a story mission with Hosea, in which he and Arthur set out to hunt a huge grizzly bear. You can return to the hunt later if you're so inclined, but it's possible to take the bear on your first encounter with it, if you're skilled (or more likely, lucky). If you manage to kill and skin the big grizzly, you'll get a Legendary Bear Pelt, a unique item in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 that can be used to make special new gear.

The question is, what exactly do you do with the huge Legendary Bear Pelt once you have it? Red Dead 2 isn't very clear on this point. In fact, there are special requirements for using the pelts of Legendary Animals--you can't just sell them to any store in a town, or donate them to Pearson back at your camp. In the case of the Legendary Bear pelt, there's a good chance you won't even have heard of the person yet who you need to interact with in order to use it.

Here's what you need to know about hunting the Legendary Bear, where you'll find it, and what to do once you've killed it.

No Caption Provided

Where To Find The Bear

The easiest way to get to and deal with the Legendary grizzly is in Chapter 2, when you take on the mission Exit Pursued By a Bruised Ego from Hosea. Arthur and Hosea will head out to find the Baharati Grizzly Bear in the Grizzlies East region, north of O'Creagh's Run, and once you've finished the mission, the bear will be hanging around in the area for you to hunt. Once you've fought off the bear during the mission, Hosea will decide to take his leave of hunting giant killer animals with some "I'm getting too old for this s---" dialogue. At that point, you can choose to stick around and finish what you started and take down the bear.

It's worth noting that the bear is no pushover and it can definitely kill you if you're not careful. If you're not outfitted super well at this point in the game, you might want to take some time in the world to earn better gear and improve Arthur's well-being before you commit to the fight. That said, it's possible to kill the bear here and now--we did it with Arthur's stock weapons that he had at this point in the game.

Bring down the bear and you'll be able to skin it, taking a whole bunch of stuff, including the Legendary Bear Pelt. This is the unique item you need for crafting special clothing you can't get anywhere else.

No Caption Provided

You've Got The Legendary Bear Pelt--Now What?

Once you have the pelt, you'll probably be pretty confused about what to actually do with it. Regular shopkeepers won't take the pelt off your hands, and neither will Pearson in camp. You need to go to a specific person to deal with the pelt: the Trapper.

If you talk to Pearson, he may well off-handedly mention the Canadian fur trapper who hangs around in the area, which will mark the Trapper's location on your map. He roams around, so make sure to check your map for his icon before heading out. He also has a shop in Saint Denis, located in the southeast corner of the map, in the outdoor market, where you can reliably find him.

No Caption Provided

When you find the Trapper, you'll be able to check out his goods, all of which are unique clothes made from the pelts of Legendary Animals. The thing is, you'll need more than to just take down the bear if you want the whole outfit. Various Legendary Bear items also require other pelts, as well as for you to spend some money. Here's what you'll need to craft each piece of the Legendary Bear outfit:

  • Legendary Bear Head Hat: Legendary Bear Pelt, $40,
  • Legendary Bear Coat: Legendary Bear Pelt, Perfect Bison Pelt, $28
  • Legendary Bear Roper: Legendary Bear Pelt, Perfect Bull Hide, $34

Completing the outfit also requires the Boar Riding Gloves, which require a Perfect Boar Pelt and two Perfect Rabbit Pelts, and will cost you $15.

Though each of the bear items notes that a Legendary Bear Pelt is required, there's only the one. Once you've taken down the Baharit Grizzly, you'll have fulfilled the Bear Pelt requirement for each clothing item.

No Caption Provided

What Happens If You Lose Your Bear Pelt?

You'll likely sling the Legendary Bear Pelt onto your horse and then find yourself riding for quite a ways to track down the Trapper, whether you're headed south to Saint Denis or out into the wilderness. In all that travel time, misfortune can easily befall even the most careful of cowboy, and if your horse falls or you're killed, you'll likely lose the Legendary Bear Pelt.

That's okay! Don't panic. Whether you carry the pelt physically to the Trapper or not, once you've killed and skinned the Baharati Grizzly Bear, the pelt is unlocked. That requirement will be fulfilled on the Trapper's list even if you don't actually carry the skin all the way to him. You can still access the clothing items once you have everything you need for the recipes.

There are a whole lot of other Legendary Animals to find out there in the big world of Red Dead Redemption 2--check out our guide on where to locate them all. And try our clothing guide for information about where you can get more clothes to customize Arthur's look.

Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2018 Deals Begin: Games, Consoles, And Accessories On Sale

By Chris Pereira on Nov 19, 2018 11:28 pm

Black Friday is now days away. 2018's deals look to be better than last year's and you can actually find some Nintendo Switch game deals right now, as Best Buy has launched its Black Friday sale for select My Best Buy members. But the majority of the deals, including Switch bundles and games, start next week.

Many stores have already released their ads, and in some cases, their offers will be available hours or even days in advance. In terms of the Nintendo Switch console, we're seeing an identical deal popping up in a lot of places since we first saw it in Target's preview ad. Target, Walmart, and Best Buy will sell the system for $300, as per usual (or $299 in Walmart's case), but the system will be a special bundle that comes with a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Unfortunately, if you were hoping for a sub-$300 Switch, we have yet to see anyone drop the system's price. If the aforementioned bundle doesn't appeal to you, Kohl's has a more expensive option that also comes with $90 in Kohl's Cash.

A large number of Switch games are on sale, although the sheer scale of these deals is not the same as on PS4 or Xbox One, as you'd expect. Still, there are some good offers: last year's surprisingly excellent XCOM-like, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, drops to $20 at Best Buy; Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate drops to $35 at Target, Walmart, and Best Buy; Arms goes to $35 at Walmart; and Bayonetta 2 (which includes the previous game) will be $40 at Best Buy.

Nintendo will presumably launch its own game sale through the Switch Eshop, but as of yet that has not yet begun, as is the case with the PSN and Xbox Live sales. We'll report back if (but, more likely, when) it does.

Below, you'll find all of the Black Friday deals on Switch consoles, games, and accessories that we've spotted so far. More deals should be announced in the day ahead, and we'll keep this page updated. For even more, check out our full Black Friday deals coverage.

PS4 Deals For Black Friday 2018: $40 PS Plus, $40 Black Ops 4, $200 Spider-Man Bundle

By Chris Reed on Nov 19, 2018 11:17 pm

Welcome to Black Friday week. In 2018, Black Friday is on November 23, but many deals have already gone live. It's going to be an ideal time to buy a PS4 or games and accessories for it, and Best Buy already has its Black Friday sale live for some My Best Buy members, while PSN's sale is also live. We've combed through full ads from Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and elsewhere to compile all the PS4 deals below. We're still waiting for GameStop's full ad (we've only gotten what looks like a preliminary one), Amazon, and PSN's sale to get a better picture.

Sony itself has announced its Black Friday promotions, and you'll find a lot of what retailers have to offer line up with these deals. When it comes to PS4 consoles, the best option announced so far is from Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and Sam's Club all of which get you a PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB and Spider-Man as a pack-in game for $200 (or $199 in the case of Walmart and Sam's Club). That's a great deal, seeing as the console normally costs around $300 and Spider-Man costs $60. Given it's part of Sony's official lineup of deals, you can expect to find this pretty much everywhere.

In terms of PS4 accessories, another doorbuster Target will offer is a PlayStation VR bundle that comes with a camera, Move controllers, Creed: Rise to Glory, and Superhot VR, all for $250; that deal is mirrored at Best Buy. If you want a cheaper route, several stores will have a $200 PSVR bundle. Also, both Target, Best Buy, and Kohl's will have DualShock 4 controllers available for $40, while Walmart beats them at $39. Again $200 for PSVR and $40 for controllers are among Sony's official Black Friday deals, so expect to see those from a lot of stores.

On the PS4 games side of the equation, there's plenty to save money on. The recent release Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will drop to $40 at Walmart. Another recent one, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, will be available for $30. Both Detroit: Become Human and God of War will be available for $25 each, as will Far Cry 5. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is at its cheapest (so far) at Best Buy, where it'll be $30.

We've gathered all of the PlayStation 4 deals announced so far into one place so you can get the best deal on whatever it is you're looking for. We'll keep this article updated as more retailers announce their Black Friday plans, so check back later; for now, the big ads we've gotten are from Target, Best Buy, and Walmart. Depending on exactly what you're looking for, you'll be going to a different store.

You can find all of the PS4 Black Friday deals below, but you'll have to wait until closer to November 23 to get the discounts.

PS Plus Black Friday 2018 Early Deals: Best Places To Buy PlayStation Plus Membership

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 19, 2018 11:11 pm

Black Friday takes place later this week falling on November 23. But along with lists of virtually all of the deals we can expect, we've also gotten a number of deals early--and that includes discounts on a PlayStation Plus membership.

As of this writing, the best deal on PS Plus sees a 12-month subscription to the service for $40--a nice $20 savings and the cheapest we ever see these subscriptions go for anymore. You can get this price straight through PSN, as the deal is available as part of the PlayStation Store's Black Friday sale that is now live.

Alternatively, a number of retailers have either price matched or launched their PS Plus deals early. You can see the full list below, but Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and more are all offering PS Plus for $40 right now.

PS Plus is Sony's online subscription service. You'll need a membership in order to play most online multiplayer games on PS4 and PS3, such as Rocket League and the recently released Fallout 76. On top of that, Sony offers a batch of free games for PS Plus subscribers every month, which are yours as long as you have an active membership, as well as additional discounts on titles from the PlayStation Store. Subscribing now will get you November's PS Plus games, which include Yakuza Kiwami.

PS Plus subscriptions are available in several increments. A one-month subscription typically costs $10; a three-month membership runs for $25; and a 12-month subscription is normally $60. If you're interested in sampling the service before committing to it, Sony is offering a free 14-day trial through the PS Store, although that will automatically convert into a one-month subscription if you don't cancel it before the trial period ends.

You can find all of the announced PS Plus deals, as well as our other guides on this year's PS4 Black Friday sales, below. For even more discounts, be sure to check out our full Black Friday deals coverage.

Cam Review: Netflix's Cam Girl Horror Movie Is Smart And Scary

By Dan Auty on Nov 19, 2018 10:46 pm

The doppelganger has been used to scary effect in a wide variety of movies over the years. From high profile releases such as The Prestige and Moon to weird, horror-influenced films like Denis Villeneuve's Enemy and David Lynch's Lost Highway, the idea of an exact double performing evil deeds is potent and sinister. The new horror movie Cam, which can now be streamed on Netflix, uses this concept within the world of adult live cams with impressive, scary results.

The film stars Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid's Tale, Orange is the New Black) as Alice, a rising cam girl who uses the online alias Lola. She has a faithful group of viewers for whom she performs requests on camera, including some outrageous stuff involving knives and fake blood. She's desperate to crack the Top 50 on her cam site, but is reluctant to push her act into the more extreme sexual direction of her rivals.

Alice's life away from the camera is very different; she's a normal young woman with a regular job and a loving family. But when someone--or something--with her name, face, and live cam login starts occupying Alice/Lola's channel and stealing her fans, things get really weird.

On paper, Cam's mix of sex and horror suggests that it will be an exploitative film focused solely on its sensationalist qualities. But while it does make full use of these more commercial subjects, the film also presents a sensitive, intelligent view of the live cam industry as well as some insightful observations about how we interact with modern technology. The movie's writer, Isa Mazzei, is a former cam girl, and she ensures that Alice is a sympathetic, believable character, never once judging her choices. Alice is a woman in full command of her life, making great money while working from behind the relative safety of the webcam. Despite some creepy behavior from one of her overly enthusiastic admirers, Alice can look after herself perfectly well in that world--it's the "woman" with her name and face that is the true danger.

No Caption Provided

Cam is produced by Blumhouse Films, who are best known for Get Out, the Purge series, and the Paranormal Activity movies. But while it is definitely a horror movie, it avoids many of the clichés of the genre, and ultimately has more in common with the surreal work of Lynch and the tech-satire of Black Mirror than a more conventional scary movie. There are no jump scares and there's little violence, and most of the movie either takes place in daylight or in the brightly-lit glare of Alice's studio.

What director Daniel Goldhaber instead delivers is a movie steeped in creeping dread, as the mystery deepens and Alice tries to keep her life--and her mind--together. Much of the film consists of Alice attempting to solve the riddle of her doppelganger, who has taken her on-camera persona in a far more explicit direction than she ever did. Soon her secret identity has spilled over into her real life, and her "work" as Lola is exposed to her family. Again, Mazzei and Goldhaber deal with this in an unexpected way, helped by Brewer's committed performance. Cam also has a lot to say how we use our identities online, and makes some smart observations about how we are all ultimately powerless against the outside forces that control those identities.

Cam is an ambiguous film, and some of its more surreal touches might turn off audiences who enjoy a more conventional approach to horror, particularly in the movie's last third. But frankly, Netflix is filled with horror movies that make easy, obvious choices and deliver nothing but clichés and predictable scares. What Cam does is impressive--it works as a gripping, creepy horror thriller and as a topical, provocative satire, but never forgets to put its characters ahead of both aspects.

The GoodThe Bad
Believable, sympathetic charactersMight be too ambiguous for some
A superb lead performance
Gripping and sinister
A smart satire

Black Friday 2018 Red Dead Redemption 2 Deals: Cheapest Places To Buy The Game

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 19, 2018 10:37 pm

There are plenty of games going on sale for Black Friday this week, and surprisingly that includes the recently released Red Dead Redemption 2. The game is being discounted at a few select retailers, as well as on online stores, although it's primarily the more expensive editions of the game seeing a price cut.

All the current RDR2 Black Friday deals are outlined below. We will continue to add to the list as new discounts are announced. Be sure to stay on top of when specific retailers--like Best Buy and Walmart--open and close their doors for Black Friday so you can plan accordingly.

For now, the best Black Friday Red Dead Redemption 2 deals are available through the Xbox Store and PlayStation Store. The normally $80 Special Edition is being lowered to around $70 for Black Friday. The Special Edition comes with the base game, as well as a bank robbery mission and gang hideout, Dappled Black Thoroughbred horse, talisman and medallion in-game bonuses, boosts, cash discounts, the Nuevo Paraiso Gunslinger outfit, and several free weapons. The even more expensive Ultimate edition drops to $90 on both platforms. As of this writing, you'll need an Xbox Live Gold membership to take advantage of the Xbox pricing.

Physical retailers are selling the game at full price but with a bonus item. At Best Buy, the Black Friday deal comes with RDR2 and a special collapsible cup. At Walmart, the Black Friday deal is for the store's exclusive steelbook edition.

There's also a "Better Than Black Friday" sale going on at Ebay right now, and one of the games that's been discounted was Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One, although it seems that has now ended. If it returns or we see any other deals, we'll update the list below.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Black Friday Deals

Xbox One

  • $60 -- Best Buy [with free collapsible cup]
  • $60 -- Walmart [steelbook edition]
  • $72 (Xbox Live Gold) -- Xbox Store [Special edition]
  • $90 (Xbox Live Gold) -- Xbox Store [Ultimate edition]

PlayStation 4

There's also a few deals on the original Red Dead Redemption this Black Friday as well. We've outlined them below.

Red Dead Redemption Black Friday Deals

Xbox One

In our Red Dead Redemption 2 review, Kallie Plagge gave the game a 9/10, writing, "Red Dead Redemption 2 is an excellent prequel, but it's also an emotional, thought-provoking story in its own right, and it's a world that is hard to leave when it's done."

Red Dead Redemption 2 is only available for Xbox One and PS4.

Spirits Make Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Single-Player Much More Compelling

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 19, 2018 10:30 pm

The Super Smash Bros. series has always excelled in a party setting thanks to its frenetic action and easy-to-learn mechanics, but the franchise has generally struggled to offer an equally compelling single-player experience. While each installment has featured a variety of modes tailored to solo players--the most robust being Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary, a full-fledge crossover adventure--none of these have had the same lasting appeal as its standard Smash mode. The series' latest entry, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Switch, introduces a few new single-player options of its own in the form of the Spirit Board and World of Light mode, and from what we've seen of them thus far, they look to be just what the series needed to elevate its solo experience.

We had the opportunity to try both of the new solo modes during a recent hands-on demo of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Much like Subspace Emissary, World of Light is an expansive single-player adventure that unites the game's motley cast against a powerful, supernatural entity known as Galeem. As we saw during the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, the story begins when Galeem unleashes a barrage of light that reduces every character on the roster--with the exception of Kirby--to Spirits, beings who have lost their corporeal form. As the sole survivor of the onslaught, it falls to the intrepid puffball to rescue the other fighters and put a stop to Galeem's machinations.

Despite its initial similarities to Subspace Emissary, World of Light differs from it in some notable ways. While the campaign does feature some cutscenes, Nintendo says it isn't quite as story driven as Brawl's adventure mode. Instead, World of Light compensates for its lighter narrative with a sprawling world map, which features branching pathways and dozens of battles to take part in. As you work your way through these bouts, you'll gradually rescue other characters, who you'll then be able to freely switch between as you head toward the final confrontation with Galeem.

Each opponent you face off against in World of Light comes equipped with Spirits, collectible characters drawn from an array of different video games. Much like the different pieces of equipment you could acquire in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, Spirits are used to augment your fighter's stats and abilities. They come in two varieties. The first, Primary Spirits, confer a stat boost to your character. Depending on their class level, they also typically boast one to three slots that can be outfitted with Support Spirits, which further imbue your fighter with different abilities and attributes. For instance, equipping Fire Emblem Awakening's Lon'qu as a Support Spirit will give your character a Killing Edge sword at the start of a match, while the Wind Fish from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening increases the power of your special moves.

Furthermore, Primary Spirits fall under one of three different categories: Attack, Grab, or Shield. Much like the elemental types in Pokemon, these coexist in a rock-paper-scissors-style triangle, each one offering an advantage over another. As a result, the battles in World of Light introduce a new layer of strategy to the series, as you'll need to carefully consider which Spirits to equip to your fighter in order to counteract the different battle conditions imposed by your opponent's Spirits. Defeating foes will in turn reward you with their Spirits and other in-game currency, which you'll then be able to use to level them up and even unlock additional attributes for your fighters on a skill tree.

No Caption Provided

Complementing World of Light is the aforementioned Spirit Board, another mode in which you can unlock the titular collectibles. True to its name, the Spirit Board is laid out much like a quest board; you'll be able to select the picture of a Spirit you'd like to challenge and compete against an appropriately themed character who is equipped with it, just as you would in World of Light (albeit without the adventure game trappings found in that mode). The difficulty of these bouts is determined by the rarity of the Spirit you are facing, and they can get surprisingly challenging if you're battling an Ace or Legendary Spirit. Fortunately, even if you don't succeed the first time around, you'll be able to challenge the Spirit again after a set amount of time.

Thanks to the introduction of Spirits, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's new single-player modes are shaping up to be the deepest in the series yet. The game launches for Nintendo Switch on December 7. On top of the new modes, it boasts the largest roster in the franchise to date, with 11 new characters set to debut in the game (plus five as-yet-unannounced fighters slated to arrive throughout 2019 as DLC). You can take a look at some of the new fighters in action here. For even more on the title, check out our roundup of everything we know about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

GameStop's Black Friday 2018 Deals: $200 PS4, Xbox One, Switch Games, And More

By Chris Reed on Nov 19, 2018 10:13 pm

As Black Friday 2018 inches ever closer, more and more retailers are publishing their ads. That means we already have a good idea of the deals to expect once Black Friday sales start going live--which makes it easier to plan your purchases. WWE Survivor Series 2018 Final PPV Results And Recap

By Mat Elfring on Nov 19, 2018 10:07 pm

One of WWE's biggest shows of the year, Survivor Series, wrapped up last night in Los Angeles, where the rosters of Raw and Smackdown battled each other to determine which is the dominate brand. There were a few surprises during the evening, including Enzo Amore popping up, and we have a full review of the show. However, if you want just straight results, keep scrolling down.

The Survivor Series PPV aired live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The rosters of Raw and Smackdown battled each other to see which show was the dominant one. Below you'll find the results for every match and the order of elimination for every Survivor Series bout.

The Kickoff Show for Survivor Series beings 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT on the WWE Network. There are plenty of ways to watch the show before the main card starts at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET / 12 AM GMT (November 19).

While the Kickoff Show is two hours long, there has only been one confirmed match for the event, and that's the Tag Team Survivor Series Match which features two teams of 10 battling each other in an elimination bout. For the main card, there will only be one title defense during the evening, and that's Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy taking on Mustafa Ali.

The rest of the evening will feature plenty of Raw vs. Smackdown matches. It will have title holders from one brand facing champions from the other, except for the women's champs. Ronda Rousey was originally going to face Becky Lynch, but the Smackdown Women's Champion got injured, so Lynch picked Charlotte Flair as her replacement. Additionally, Brock Lesnar was going to take on AJ Styles, but days before the event, Daniel Bryan beat Styles for the WWE Championship, so Bryan is off to Survivor Series to fight Lesnar.

Survivor Series Match Card:

  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Champion Daniel Bryan
  • Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte
  • Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura
  • Women's Survivor Series Match
  • Men's Survivor Series Match
  • Raw Tag Team Champions AOP vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bar
  • Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Mustafa Ali (Cruiserweight Championship)
  • Tag Team Survivor Series Match [Kickoff Match]

Check out the live updates, as they happen, below. In case you're not caught up, don't worry; we put the final results in spoiler blocks, and this includes eliminations during the match as well.

Former WWE Superstar Enzo Amore Appeared At Survivor Series PPV, Was Promptly Kicked Out

By Mat Elfring on Nov 19, 2018 09:43 pm

How are you doing? Well, former WWE superstar Enzo Amore seemed to be in high spirits at the Survivor Series PPV, when he popped up into the audience to cut a promo to no one, then was chased out of the arena by security.

Sitting in the second row, in full view of the hard cameras, Eric Arndt, known by WWE fans as Enzo Amore, arrived to this year's Survivor Series during the Seth Rollins/Shinsuke Nakamura match. He was wearing a hoodie and keeping his head low throughout the match, as first noticed by comic book writer Mario Candelaria, who was sitting two rows behind him.

During the AOP vs. The Bar match, Arndt got up and starting making a scene, but the cameras quickly cut away. Those watching the PPV at home missed out on what many have described as Enzo being Enzo.

Arndt stood up, spung around, and did was sounded like a typical Enzo promo, all while holding a custom championship belt, according to Candelaria who sent GameSpot an image from the moment. Security forcefully threw Arndt from the chair he was sitting in, and Arndt ran out of the area. Apparently, people were hurt when this went down and the LAPD is currently taking statements from the audience.

Many who noticed Amore in the crowd prior to his hijacking of the show thought Amore was going to get involved in the ring somehow. Back in January, Arndt was released from WWE after the company found out about an ongoing sexual assault case, which turned out to be false. However, many insiders say that this was the last straw for WWE as Arndt caused numerous problems backstage.

The former WWE star is no stranger to getting kicked out of things after making a scene. Earlier this week, Arndt was booted from a Delta flight after refusing to stop vaping on an airplane before takeoff, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet. As he was being escorted off the place, some hero yelled, "How you doin'?"

However, Survivor Series continues, so make sure to check out our live coverage of the event.

Once Upon A Deadpool Trailer Features Christmas, Comedy, And Kidnapping

By Dan Auty on Nov 19, 2018 09:41 pm

The idea of a PG-13 rated Deadpool 2 might seem completely ridiculous, given the very adult content of that movie, but it's happening. Once Upon A Deadpool is a new version of this summer's irreverent superhero sequel, with new footage and (obviously) some of the language and violence toned down. The first trailer has now been released.

The trailer features Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) sitting with former child star Fred Savage, who is best known for the long-running show The Wonder Years and the 1987 fantasy comedy The Princess Bride. In a pastiche of Savage's role in the latter, Savage sits in bed while Deadpool tells him about the new movie. Except in this case, Deadpool has tied him up. Check it out above.

Once Upon A Deadpool is only having a limited theatrical run in the US, from December 12 through to December 24. Earlier this month, it was reported that eight new scenes had been shot, all of which were filmed in a single day. The rest of the movie will consist of toned down versions of the same footage from the R-rated cut.

Another element of Once Upon a Deadpool is that it's going to be a vehicle to help drive awareness and raise money for cancer research. $1 from every ticket sold will go to the F**k Cancer campaign, but it'll be called "Fudge Cancer" at ticket sales locations.

In an interview with Deadline, Reynolds spoke about the movie. "Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006," he said. "I've said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said 'Yes' on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…"

Deadpool 2 opened in May this year, and it made $734 million during its theatrical run. The 2016 original was a bigger hit, bringing in more than $780 million at the box office. Those are massive figures, all but ensuring there will be a third Deadpool movie sometime down the road.

Pokemon Go: Meltan Research Quest, Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee Launch Event Now Live

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 19, 2018 09:40 pm

The latest pair of Pokemon adventures, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, are now available for Nintendo Switch. Among other things, the new games feature connectivity with Pokemon Go, allowing you to transfer over certain monsters from the mobile title. In fact, doing this is quickest way to unlock the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan, but even if you don't own either of the Switch games, you'll have a way to get the new Hex Nut Pokemon in Go.

A new Special Research questline centering around Meltan is now live. By completing the missions assigned by Professor Willow, you'll be able to encounter the new Mythical Pokemon in Pokemon Go, even without connecting it to either of the Let's Go titles. The new questline arrived much earlier than anticipated; The Pokemon Company had previously teased that Special Research related to Meltan would be available this "winter," although it hadn't provided a time frame.

In addition to the new Special Research, Niantic is rolling out a few more special events to commemorate the launch of Pokemon: Let's Go. First, you'll be able to collect new Field Research tasks focusing on Gen 1 Pokemon at PokeStops from now until November 27. Niantic says these tasks feature monsters "not commonly found" in either of the Let's Go games, such as Kabuto and Omanyte, giving you a good incentive to catch and transfer them over.

On top of that, new Raid Battles are slated to arrive in Go from November 23-26. During this time frame, you'll be able to encounter certain Eevee evolutions--Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Espeon, and Umbreon--as Raid Bosses. Raichu and Alolan Raichu will appear as Raid Bosses more commonly during this period as well.

Unlike other Mythical Pokemon, Meltan is capable of evolving. Its second form is known as Melmetal, and it can learn an exclusive Steel-type attack called Double Iron Bash. Be sure to check out our guide on how to get Meltan and Melmetal. We've also put together nine tips to know before starting Pokemon: Let's Go and a guide on how to catch Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

Best Buy Black Friday 2018 Early Deals Are Live -- $200 PS4, Great Xbox One X Bundle, More

By Chris Pereira on Nov 19, 2018 09:38 pm

We're officially in the week of Black Friday 2018, and Best Buy will be offering up tons of cheap games and consoles. Although Black Friday is on November 23, Best Buy has released its full ad and provided early access to My Best Buy Elite/Elite Plus members, with standard My Best Buy members also now gaining access to what appears to be a somewhat more limited version of the sale. You can check to see if what you're interested is on sale right now, but you can read on for a complete look at what you can expect to be discounted at Best Buy this week.

There are a ton of PS4, Xbox One, and Switch games on sale, along with hardware and accessories. Best Buy's console deals are limited in number, but they present a good way to pick up any of the big systems. Many of them are similar to what you'll find at other stores, but it does have what might be the best deal on an Xbox One X. For $430, you get a special-edition Xbox One X that's bundled with November's Battlefield V, plus a second controller.

Those looking for a PS4 can get one bundled with Marvel's Spider-Man, which just released in September, for $200. $200 can also get you an Xbox One S Minecraft bundle. If you're in the market for a Nintendo Switch, you'll get the same offer at places like Target, which is a $300 bundle (the standard price of the system) that includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The bulk of the gaming offers are on specific games. Among the highlights is the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for $45, God of War for $25, and PUBG (Xbox One) for $15. For $30, you can get Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Madden NFL 19, NBA 2K19, or Forza Horizon 4. Switch, which often doesn't get a lot of discounts, has a number of games on sale, including Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze for $40, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle for $20, and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for $35. 3DS owners can pick up Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for $20 each.

Outside of individual games, Best Buy has deals on a variety of accessories, including a 30% discount on all Astro headsets. But some of the best offers it has are for subscriptions: You can get 12 months of PlayStation Plus for $40 or 12 months of Xbox Game Pass for $70. Considering the latter gets you access to certain games you might be buying on sale (like Forza Horizon 4 and Sea of Thieves), it could be a preferable option.

Best Buy's Black Friday offerings will be available to everyone beginning on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, at 5 PM local time. (Specific opening times may vary by state.) You'll also be able to shop online at Best Buy's website. Early access is now live for My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus members. Standard My Best Buy members get access on Monday, November 19; essentially, you can sign up for free and get access days ahead of time.

My Best Buy members will get a chance to grab additional hot deals in the Black Friday ad before anyone else. Early Access sales are on Sunday, Nov. 18, for Elite Plus and Elite members and on Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20, for all My Best Buy members

Read on for the full list of game deals, and check out our roundup of all Black Friday deals for much more.

Pokemon Go: New Gen 4 Evolutions Now Available

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 19, 2018 09:35 pm

The first wave of Gen 4 Pokemon debuted in Pokemon Go last month, and since then, developer Niantic has been slowly introducing more monsters originally from the Sinnoh region to the mobile game. During Pokemon Go's third annual Halloween event, the studio added a handful of new Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon, and now a few new Gen 4 evolutions are available.

When it first arrived back in 2007, Gen 4 was notable for introducing a variety of new evolved forms for older Pokemon such as Electabuzz, Magmar, and Rhydon, and now a number of these have been added to Pokemon Go. You're able to obtain Electivire, Magmortar, Rhyperior, Togekiss, Weavile, Porygon-Z, and several other new Pokemon if you have their previous forms and the requisite number of Candies.

You'll also need one more item in order to obtain these evolutions: the Sinnoh Stone. However, getting your hands on one may require a bit of work. At present, it seems the only way to acquire a Sinnoh Stone is through a Research Breakthrough, which is achieved when you complete enough Field Research tasks.

Coinciding with the arrival of the new Gen 4 Pokemon is another in-game event. From now until November 27, Niantic is holding the Hatchathon event, which gives you a chance to hatch Rhyhorn, Magby, Porygon, and other Pokemon that have evolved forms first introduced in the Gen 4 games from 2 km Eggs. On top of that, you'll be able to hatch a Shiny Elekid if you're lucky.

The Pokemon series' next console titles, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, released for Nintendo Switch on November 16. The pair feature connectivity with Pokemon Go; you're able to transfer any Gen 1 Pokemon from the mobile game over to the Switch titles. Doing so will reward you with the Mystery Box, which is the key to catching the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan.

Pokemon Go New Hatchaton Event, Shiny Pokemon Now Available

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 19, 2018 09:33 pm

A lot has been happening in Pokemon Go of late. Earlier this month, developer Niantic rolled out the game's Adventure Sync feature, which was followed closely by the latest Community Day. Now another new event is underway for a limited-time, and it gives you a chance to hatch some hard-to-find Pokemon.

From now until November 27, Niantic is holding the Hatchathon event in Pokemon Go. During that time frame, you'll be able to hatch Pokemon with evolved forms that were first introduced in the series' Gen 4 titles--Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum--from 2 km Eggs.

A number of popular Pokemon such as Rhydon, Porygon, Electabuzz, and Magmar all received new evolutions in the Gen 4 Pokemon games, so this event is a good chance to add their base or baby forms to your collection. Moreover, Niantic says you'll have a chance of hatching Shiny Elekid during the event, making this the first time it has been available in Go.

Coinciding with the Hatchaton event, Niantic has also rolled out Gen 4's new Pokemon evolutions. In order to get them, you'll need to stock up on the appropriate Candy and get your hands on a Sinnoh Stone, a new evolutionary item. However, at the moment, it appears the only way to obtain one is by completing enough Field Research tasks and achieving a Research Breakthrough.

In related news, the Pokemon series' next console games, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, launch for Nintendo Switch this week, on November 16. The pair support connectivity with Pokemon Go; you can synch up to the Switch games via Bluetooth and transfer Gen 1 Pokemon to them. Doing so will in return get you the Mystery Box, a strange item used to find the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan. Niantic also shared the first teaser trailer for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the new Harry Potter AR game it is co-developing with WB Games.

Pokemon Go: How To Catch Giratina [Last Chance]

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 19, 2018 09:30 pm

Pokemon Go's third Halloween event has come and gone, and it introduced a handful of new Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon to catch--including another Legendary Pokemon. For a limited time, you'll be able to encounter the cover monster from Pokemon Platinum, Giratina, as a Raid Battle at Gyms, making it the first Gen 4 Legendary to arrive in Pokemon Go.

While the Halloween event concluded on November 1, Giratina will be available in Raid Battles until November 20. This likely won't be the last time it appears; Niantic frequently reintroduces previous Legendaries to the game, although that typically isn't until some time after their initial run, so you'll want to add a Giratina to your collection soon while you still have the opportunity. Here are some tips for catching one.

Battling Giratina

Like most of the other Legendary Pokemon to appear in Pokemon Go, Giratina will occasionally spawn as a Raid Battle at Gyms. In order to catch one, you'll first need to travel to a Gym where a Giratina Raid is taking place and battle it. Giratina is a tough opponent to bring down, however, so you'll need to team up with other players in real life if you hope to defeat it. If you've hit Pokemon Go's level cap of 40, you should be able to bring Giratina down with a team of 6-8 players, although the more players you have around, the better your chances of success are.

Giratina is a dual Ghost/Dragon Pokemon, which is a unique combination due to the fact each of those types is weak against itself in battle. Dragon Pokemon in particular fare very well against Giratina, so you'll want to bring monsters like Dragonite, Salamence, and Rayquaza along if you've managed to obtain any of them. Gengar and other Ghost Pokemon are also effective, although their typing and generally frail defenses make them susceptible to Giratina's attacks as well.

Outside of those choices, Dark-type Pokemon are likewise effective against Giratina, particularly if the one you encounter during the Raid knows Ghost attacks, which Dark Pokemon resist. Tyranitar, Absol, and Houndoom in particular will fare well against it. Mewtwo is a great choice to bring along as well if it knows Shadow Ball, and Pokemon with Ice or Fairy attacks are a decent alternative.

Catching Giratina

If you've managed to successfully defeat Giratina, you'll be rewarded with a ton of XP, Stardust, and items. You'll also receive a handful of Premier Balls, the only type of Poke Ball you can use to catch Legendaries. The number of Premier Balls you receive will vary depending on which Pokemon you use and if you battled it alongside your friends.

Much like Mewtwo, Giratina will be standing fairly far in the distance when you're trying to capture it. It will also attack often, so you'll need to time your throws very carefully. To maximize your chances of catching one, use a Golden Razz Berry before each throw. Giratina is slated to leave Raid Battles at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on November 20, so good luck!

Rainbow Six Siege: Wind Bastion's New Operators Detailed

By Oscar Dayus on Nov 19, 2018 09:16 pm

Rainbow Six Siege's new Operators have been fully revealed at the game's Pro League finals. The Operators, named Nomad and Kaid, come from Morocco's GIGR (Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Royale), and the game's new map, Fortress, is also set in Morocco.

Kaid, a Defender, comes equipped with three deployable electroclaws, which electrify any metallic object within a small radius. That means, if placed correctly, one electroclaw could electrify multiple reinforcements, deployable shields, or razor wires.

Nomad, meanwhile, is an Attacker. Her primary weapons come attached with a device that launches wind-powered proximity mines. When an opponent approaches, the mines blast all enemies back and off their feet. Opposing players are rendered unable to use their weapon for a short duration, and must get back on their feet. The mines can be used defensively to protect your flanks or offensively to flush enemies out.

Operation Wind Bastion includes the two new Operators and the new Fortress map, though Ubisoft has not yet revealed the DLC's release date. The base game, meanwhile, is currently free for the weekend on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Siege's last major patch, Update Y3S3.2, addressed many of the bugs that previously existed in the game. The update also added balancing changes to both Clash and Maestro, two Operators that Ubisoft felt were underused. Two firearms, the SMG-11 and Vector, were also patched to reduce recoil and improve the weapons' handling.

Walmart will have a deal on nearly every console on the market (with PS4 Pro being the notable absence). You'll be able to get a PS4 Slim 1TB with Spider-Man for $199. The Xbox One S Minecraft Creators Bundle will be marked down to $199, and you'll be able to save $100 on an Xbox One X, bringing the price down to $399. Nintendo Switch will still cost $299, but you'll get a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the purchase. Finally, Nintendo 2DS with Super Mario Maker will be $79. These deals fall in line with the official Black Friday promotions announced by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, though Walmart (like Sam's Club) hacks off an extra dollar.

When it comes to games, it might be quicker to list the ones that won't be on sale. There will be tons of great deals, making Black Friday a good time to grab anything you've had an eye on recently. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be marked down to $40, which is $5 cheaper than it will be at Target and Best Buy. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is dipping to $35, as is Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection. And while they're not getting discounts, Walmart is offering exclusive steelbook versions of Fallout 76 and Red Dead Redemption 2 for $60 each.

And for once, Nintendo Switch owners won't be left out in the cold. While Nintendo's big games rarely go on sale, Walmart will be offering Black Friday discounts on a good number of them. For $35 each, you'll be able to get Arms, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Kirby Star Allies, Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, among others.

As with many other retailers, Walmart isn't waiting until Friday to begin offering its discounts. The deals begin at 6 PM local time on Thursday, November 22 (Thanksgiving in the US). Online shoppers will get access to the discounts even earlier; Black Friday deals at Walmart.com will start on Wednesday, November 21 at 10 PM ET (7 PM PT).

You can find the full list of discounted items for each platform below. And if you want to see all the other items Walmart will have on sale, check out the full Walmart Black Friday ad.
