WildStar could become the latest PC MMO to make the jump to consoles. In an interview with GameSpot, Carbine Studios product director Mike Donatelli said bringing the game to consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One "seems to make a lot of sense," though he didn't outright confirm that it's happening.
"We have seen many MMOs who have made that transition to console being successful," he said. "So I think it would be safe to say, without saying too much, that, for any successful MMO who is looking to expand their business, looking at the console seems to make a lot of sense."
This is not confirmation that WildStar will come to console, though it's also not the first time that Carbine has talked about it. In September 2013, before the game was even released, executive producer Jeremy Gaffney told Digital Spy that Carbine would consider console ports after the PC edition shipped.
"Maybe someday we'll do it, and we've been approached on it, but we believe in doing your home platform first and then branch out," Gaffney explained at the time about bringing WildStar to console. "Just keep it simple where you can, and do one thing great, and if it's great there, it'll grow."
WildStar launched on PC in June 2014 with a subscription model. However, just months later, Carbine made the decision to re-launch the game as a free-to-play title; this transition eventually happened just this week. For lots more on WildStar's business model swap, as well as the release of the game's biggest-ever update, WildStar: Reloaded, read GameSpot's in-depth interview with Carbine.

Among the new features in NBA 2K16 is the ability to design your own team, including its jerseys and court. These can be original creations or those inspired by other things, such as this design themed around Fallout.
As shared on Reddit by user Typical_Redditor_459, the Vault-Tec Dwellers sport white and yellow jerseys at home, with an image of the Vault Boy holding up three fingers on the front. The away jerseys are blue and yellow and have a Vault 101 symbol on the front. The court sports that same symbol at midcourt, with a version of Fallout's "war never changes" motto (in this case, "the game never changes") written on the baseline.
One commenter on Reddit asked if it would be possible to make the vault number on the jersey the player's number, to which the creator said, "Yeah actually I could do that pretty easily. I would just need to find a vault door outline without the 101 in the center. Then you can turn on the player number for the front of the jersey and position it in the center of the vault door. That is a really cool idea."
In response to another comment pointing out that they could have done a Tunnel Snake-themed theme, the creator astutely noted that the tunnel snakes rule.
NBA 2K16 launched earlier this week, while Fallout 4 is slated for release on November 10. Not unlike 2K16, Fallout 4 offers more ways than ever before for players to create things--specifically, their own bases.
Microsoft made the announcement today on Twitter, but didn't say when during the show the commercial might air. "This Sunday, The Hunt Begins with a new #Halo5 Guardians commercial during @FearTWD. Be sure to tune in!" Microsoft said. The show airs on Sunday at 9 PM EDT.
Last Sunday's TV commercial was a live-action spot in which series hero Master Chief was pronounced dead. He's probably not really dead, however, so it'll be interesting to see where this next video goes.
The two founders of Criterion Games, developer of the Burnout series, have teased the possibility of a spiritual successor to the popular racing game series.
Three Fields Entertainment, a studio founded last year by Criterion founders Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry, sent out tweets this week that sound promising for Burnout fans who aren't especially attached to the Burnout name. "Two things. Our first game is a multiplayer sports game. Coming Spring 2016. Then we make a driving game," the first tweet reads.
"What sort of driving game you ask? A spiritual successor. Speed. Traffic. And crashing. Lots and lots of crashing," the second adds, clearly referencing Burnout, which was famous for its crashes.
The various entries in the Burnout series--of which there are four main games--were fairly different from each other. This raises the question of which game this new one would follow in the footsteps of. Three Fields itself seems uncertain.
"Spiritual successor to which one though??? The second, the third, or the fourth one??" a final tweet reads.
Setting aside the fact that Burnout 3: Takedown is the correct answer, it's encouraging news that the Burnout series could continue in some form. EA doesn't seem to have pursued the possibility much in the seven years since Paradise, with the only new Burnout being small, downloadable spinoff Burnout Crash.

Sony Pictures has released what it's calling the "final" trailer for upcoming James Bond movie Spectre. The video highlights the showdown between Bond and Christoph Waltz's bad guy character Franz Oberhauser. He is a ranking member of the SPECTRE organization, which will play a major role in the action movie.
This trailer shows off the globe-trotting story viewers can expect; there is a Day of the Dead scene in Mexico City and another set in some snowy mountains. Bond will also travel to what appears to be SPECTRE's headquarters, which is in the middle of a massive crater in the middle of the desert.
There is plenty of action to be seen here, including an extended version of the helicopter barrel role sequence from past trailers. You can watch the full trailer above.
Spectre opens in theaters on October 26 in the UK, followed by a release in the US on November 6.
Super Meat Boy makes its PlayStation debut next week when it launches on PS4 and Vita. While it's still the same game mechanically that originally launched on Xbox 360 five years ago, developer Team Meat has had to replace its soundtrack--arguably one of the best parts of the game--with new music.
Tommy Refenes, one half of Team Meat, revealed the news in a post on the PlayStation Blog today. It appears the intention was to include the original music, but the developer "couldn't secure the rights" to use the old soundtrack, which was composed by Danny Baranowsky.
"Now don't be too bummed because we had the opportunity to work with our favorite artists to re-score Super Meat Boy to celebrate its fifth anniversary," Refenes said.
Here's the rundown he offered:
Matthias Bossi and Jon Evans, known the world over as Ridiculon (whose most recent work includes The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth), provided the bulk of the soundtrack. They took care of The Forest, Hell, The Rapture, and The End, as well as the intro music and title screen. They also re-scored all of the cutscenes and miscellaneous ditties. Their work is always stellar and Super Meat Boy is no exception. Ready yourselves for some devilishly gruesome guitar work, my friends.
David "Scattle" Scatliffe of Hotline Miami fame used his unique moody style to create incredible tracks for The Hospital and the Salt Factory. His mastery will leave you wondering if the shakes you're having are from the intense levels or the creepy/industrial bliss your ears are soaking in.
Laura Shigihara of Plants vs. Zombies renown scored The Cotton Alley in her style to give Bandage Girl's levels a gentle, feminine touch that provides a fitting counterpoint to the hardest levels in the game.
"That's a pretty slick roster of artists," Refenes added. "We were lucky enough that they were all friends of ours and fans of Super Meat Boy. Their passion and love for the game can be heard in the work they put into making the game sound amazing. We're honored to have them on the team for this version of Super Meat Boy."
You can listen to a sample track from Ridiculon below.
Super Meat Boy launches on PS4 and Vita as a cross-buy game; if you buy it on one platform, you'll also have access to it on the other system. Better yet, PlayStation Plus members get the game for free as soon as it launches on October 6, which is when the full Plus lineup for October will be available.
The fourth film in the Hunger Games series is to be released next month, and now the first full clip from the film has been released.
Mockingjay Part 2 stars Jennifer Lawrence as freedom fighter Katniss Everdeen, and in this scene she is seen being briefed before embarking on a final dangerous mission. Check it out here at Fandango.com (note, the video auto-plays).
Based on Suzanne Collins's bestselling novels, the three previous films in the futuristic action series have together earned more than $2 billion at the worldwide box office.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lawrence spoke about one particular scene in the movie that she had been building up to over the past few years. "I was excited about the scene at the end of the movie when I shoot my arrow--I won't give it away--because when I was doing my archery training at age 20, that was always the scene I pictured," she said. "Five years ago I used to look at a stack of hay and pretend that it was this moment, and now it is here."
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 opens on November 19, 2015, and also stars Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, and Julianne Moore.
Dinosaur shooter Primal Carnage: Extinction, released earlier this year on PC, will launch for PlayStation 4 on October 20. Developer Panic Button announced the release date today in a post on the PlayStation Blog. Check out the game's launch trailer below.
Extinction is a class-based shooter where you can play as either a human or a dinosaur, fighting against the other side. Dinosaur types include the Dilophosaurus, Novaraptor, Pteranodon, Carnotaurus, and Tyrannosaurus Rex. On the human team, you can play as a Scientist, Commando, Pathfinder, Trapper, and Pyro. Full descriptions of each are available on the PlayStation Blog.
The multiplayer shooter supports up to 16 simultaneous players via online multiplayer or locally through LAN play. There are four different modes in Extinction. Courtesy of Panic Button, they are:
Team Deathmatch -- (un)Traditional dino-versus-human team-based multiplayer in unique battle arenas.
Get to the Chopper -- Control key parts of the map in this objective-based game mode, ultimately unlocking the escape helicopter and the Tyrant dinosaur that will try to stop it.
Survival -- Play solo or co-op through wave after wave of AI dinos.
Free Roam -- For those who want to strut their dino-might without the pressure of timers or kill counts.
Extinction takes the place of Primal Carnage: Genesis, which was a single-player game. This project was put on hold back in October 2014. Extinction has not been announced for Xbox One.
YouTube user BlackSmoke Billy has returned with his latest Grand Theft Auto V video. In this one, called "INSANE RAMP TRUCK MOD!!!" he provides a unique solution for clearing out a traffic jam. Watch as he uses various objects as ramps and then cruises down the highway, making a nice path for himself as cars in his way fly past him and into the sky. What happens when he does this in a tunnel? Watch to find out.
This is made possible through another handling mod that makes the cars fly higher into the air. In addition, BlackSmoke Billy says he built the ramps using sjaak327's Simple Trainer.

Nearly two years after the release of Battlefield 4, developer DICE is not done supporting the military shooter with new DLC just yet. The studio has announced that the game's next DLC pack, Community Operations, will launch as a free download later this fall across all platforms.
As you could have guessed from its name, Community Operations is the DLC pack that was designed with input from players. This initiative was announced earlier this year, and the final product looks so good you might have thought it was something DICE had planned all along.
Community Operations includes a new map called Operation Outbreak, which is set in a jungle, featuring a medical research facility, an ancient temple, and a waterfall. This is an infantry-focused map, but it does support some vehicles. DICE notes that using the smaller, more agile vehicles, such as the RHIB on the river and the quad bikes on land, will be "critical for success."
DICE said it will share more details about Community Operations and the Operation Outbreak map itself in the coming weeks. A release date for the expansion was not announced, but DICE stressed that this is separate from Battlefield 4's Fall Update that's also due to arrive in the coming weeks.
This announcement comes after Pro Skater 5's much-criticized release on Tuesday; players quickly reported bugs and other issues. It is unclear if this free DLC is in any way a reaction to the problems.
For its part, Activision has responded, saying it is working with Pro Skater 5 developers Robomodo and Disruptive Games on a patch that will address some of the skateboarding game's issues. However, there is no time table for when this patch--or the free DLC--will be released.
[UPDATE] The event has ended. Among other things, Media Molecule said it will announce more details about Dreams during Paris Games Week later this month. The studio said it will have an archive version of today's presentation later today; when it's available, we'll embed it here.
The original story is below.
Sony-owned developer Media Molecule, best known for the LittleBigPlanet franchise, will hold a livestream event for its next game very soon. This is the first time the studio will talk about the game, a PlayStation 4 exclusive called Dreams, since it was announced during Sony's E3 press conference in June. The event kicks off at 8:30 AM PDT / 11:30 AM EDT and you can watch the whole thing on Twitch right here.
If you can't watch live, the entire video will be uploaded to YouTube. We'll add that video here when it's up.
Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida previously described Dreams "a next-gen creation platform" that has "much more" flexibility than LittleBigPlanet.
"In LittleBigPlanet, you pretty much made new levels of an action game," he explained at the time. "With Dreams, you don't have to make a game. You can make a game, but if you're a painter, you can just create beautiful, painterly looking drawings. Or you can just animate the character. Or you can [remix] other people's creations."
Dreams is currently scheduled for release in 2016 exclusively on PS4. Today's video event is the first in a weekly series; subsequent episodes will air on a weekly basis. Even more details about Dreams will be shared as part of Sony's showing at Paris Games Week later this month.
The upcoming reboot of Ghostbusters recently wrapped production, and now there are reports that it might not be the only big-screen version of the '80s comedy classic heading to theatres.
Variety have reported that Sony are also developing an animated version of the property. Their sources state that Ivan Reitman--director of the original film-- will produce the picture.
This won't be the first time a cartoon version of the spook-catching team has been produced. After the success of the original film, The Real Ghostbusters cartoon ran for 140 episodes in the mid-'80s, while a less popular follow-up, Extreme Ghostbusters, was broadcast in 1997.
The new live-action film finished filming last month, and will feature an all-female Ghostbusting crew. Director Paul Feig has brought back many of the original cast to film cameos, including Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson. It stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones and hits cinemas on July 16, 2016.
Microsoft's Xbox Live network experienced downtime and service interruption issues on multipleoccasions this week. Now, Xbox chief Phil Spencer has spoken out to apologize for the problems, which he says can hurt user confidence in the system.
"We have to earn the trust, each day," he said on Twitter. "And I know service disruptions hurts that trust."
In another tweet, directed at The Verge reported Tom Warren, Spencer said Microsoft needs to "minimize" the dependencies that exist between Xbox Live functionality. Check out the exchange below.
Any online network is liable to go down from time to time, as Sony's PlayStation Network also has been impacted by outages and service disruptions in the past.
Spencer, meanwhile, has confirmed that Microsoft is working together with Sony and Nintendo to discuss the ways in which they can go about stopping such attacks in the future.
Microsoft's final new Xbox One bundle announcement this week is themed a round Fallout. The company on Friday announced a package that comes with a 1 TB system and copies of Fallout 4 and Fallout 3. The $400 system launches in November alongside Bethesda's post-apocalyptic role-playing game.
As announced previously, Fallout 3 will be playable on Xbox One by way of backwards compatibility.
This new Xbox One bundle is the sixth that Microsoft announced this week. Click through the links below to see the other five.
Yoshida's comments came as part of an interview with Eurogamer regarding the PS4's big success. He said Sony originally had "modest projections" for the system before launch, but sales quickly exceeded Sony's estimates. "And it just kept going," Yoshida said.
Asked if the PS4 is still exceeding expectations, Yoshida said, "It's still the fastest-selling PlayStation platform ever, still."
The interviewer then says, "Things seems to be going really well." Yoshida responding by saying that, in fact, when a platform does well, that can benefit third-parties more than the internal teams.
"Typically--it's ironic in a sense--when a platform's doing really well, studio side kind of struggles," he said. "It probably has some relationship to these two things. When a platform's doing well, third-parties support it more. So from a pure software standpoint, there'll be more competition. When the platform's not doing so well, our games become more prominent, and we get larger market share within the same platform."
Yoshida went on to say that he's happy with the path that the PS4 ecosystem is on right now, which includes the release of PlayStation VR in 2016. But there is still work to be done, specifically in the area of releasing a bigger volume of AAA exclusive titles on PS4.
"We're happy with how it's going, and we're excited about welcoming PlayStation VR," he said. "From a delivering games standpoint, we have work to do. People constantly ask us for the big exclusive AAA games."
As the long-running sci-fi show Doctor Who settles into a ninth season since returning in 2005, the BBC has announced a new spinoff series.
Entitled Class, the new series will be set at the fictional Coal Hill school, which was the setting of the very first episode of the time travelling adventure in 1963. It has featured several times over the years, most recently in 2014, where the Doctor's current assistant Clara worked as a teacher.
The programme will be aimed at a teen audience, and is being written by bestselling Young Adult author Patrick Ness. In a statement issued by the BBC, Ness spoke about his new role in the world of Doctor Who.
"I'm astounded and thrilled to be entering the Doctor Who universe, which is as vast as time and space itself," he said. "I can't wait for people to meet the heroes of Class, to meet the all-new villains and aliens, to remember that the horrors of the darkest corners of existence are just about on par with having to pass your A-Levels."
Doctor Who showrunner Stephen Moffat, who will executively produce the new show, added: "No one has documented the dark and exhilarating world of the teenager like Patrick Ness, and now we're bringing his brilliant storytelling into Doctor Who. This is growing up in modern Britain--but with monsters!"
Class will consist of eight 45-minute episodes. It will begin production early next year, for broadcast later in 2016. It will be the third Doctor Who spinoff in the past decade, following the more adult Torchwood and the kids show The Sarah Jane Adventures, both of which ran until 2011.
With just over a month to go before the release of Fallout 4, Bethesda has now published a pair of videos that dive deep into the development process behind the highly anticipated role-playing game. These new videos, taped at E3 but only just released this week, feature insight from game director Todd Howard, lead designer Emil Pagliarulo, artist Istvan Pely, and other Bethesda Game Studios developers.
The first video (above) includes discussions around the topics of game length (reportedly 400+ hours), the look of the world, why Boston was chosen as the game's location, and a lot, lot more.
Part 2, meanwhile, focuses on Bethesda's decision to give a voice to the game's protagonists, who are performed by Brian T. Delaney and Courtenay Taylor. Bethesda designers talk about why fully voiced characters will let you connect emotionally with the characters like no other Fallout game before.
"The emotional depth that we got by having the voiced protagonists was way more intense than I expected," Pagliarulo says.
Delaney and Taylor, who recorded more than 13,000 lines for the game, also talk about keeping their involvement with the project secret for years. Check out the video below.
NBA 2K16 has broken franchise sales records. 2K Sports on Friday announced that the pro basketball game sold-in (i.e. shipped) more than 4 million copies around the world within its first week. The game was officially released on September 29, though people who preordered could start playing on September 25.
"NBA 2K fans around the world are buying this title faster and in greater numbers than ever before," 2K's basketball operations SVP, Jason Argent, said in a statement.
NBA 2K16 also set a new record for digital copies sold, doubling sales from last year's game, NBA 2K15, during its first week. In addition, gamers have played nearly triple the number of online games so far compared to NBA 2K15.
"Few sports games come close to providing a more authentic and fun virtual representation of the real thing, and even if this is the least user-friendly entry in years, I can't stop playing it," reviewer Josiah Renaudin said.
Sony's PlayStation 4 racing game Driveclub has sold 2 million copies and the company is reportedly planning Gran Turismo 7 for before 2017, but the publisher still believes the driving genre overall is not an easy one to find success in right now. That's according to PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida, who outlined his thoughts on the subject in a new interview.
"The driving genre's a very difficult market right now," he told Eurogamer when asked if the Driveclub series had a future. "The team, we need to find a great angle for the racing to continue, to come up with a new racing game, if we're to look at another racing title. Creative ideas come when things are tough, so that lightbulb moment, I'm looking forward to."
Also in the interview, Yoshida discussed Driveclub's troubled launch, which he said was attributable in part to the massive success of the PS4 platform. In short, Sony didn't expect the PS4 to sell as well as it did, meaning the game's servers were strained beyond what Sony had anticipated. But with the launch issues worked out, Sony is happy with where the game stands now.
"Driveclub has sustained its momentum," Yoshida said. "They needed to spend time to really rewrite the server-side of the game. We weren't expecting this many people would buy a PlayStation 4, and have PlayStation Plus membership. Because the title was originally titled for the launch of the system, the number of potential people to download for free for the PS Plus version would be much smaller than two years after the launch. We realised the daunting task of supporting potentially millions and millions of people to download and play. The team needed to go back to the drawing board and re-engineer the server-side."
He added: "While they were doing this, they kept releasing new content and people continued to play the game and enjoy it. I'm really happy with how things went forward."
Developer Ghost Games said previously that the purpose of the closed beta, which isn't being held on PC, is to help the studio "perform a number of technical tests that will help the team" get ready for launch. People who get into the beta are not allowed to capture or share gameplay.
The full terms of the agreement you must sign are available here. According to a NeoGAF member, the beta's file size is 19 GB.
The latest Terminator movie, Terminator Genysis, proved a disappointment at the box office this summer, with a domestic gross of under $90 million. While the film's overseas success did suggest that a sequel might still be made, it now seems that this is not going to happen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is unlikely to turn a profit for distributors Paramount, who have now put the sci-fi action franchise "on hold indefinitely".
In advance of the film's release, producer David Ellison told Den of Geek that Genysis would be the first part of a trilogy of new Terminator movies. In the same interview, co-producer Dana Goldberg explained that they planned to shoot the next two films back-to-back, while Paramount had scheduled them for summer 2017 and 2018 releases respectively.
With the movie series on hold, the status of the spinoff TerminatorTV show that was announced in late 2013 is unknown. James Cameron, the writer and director of the original 1984 film and its 1991 sequel, will regain control of the rights to the property in 2019.
The co-founder of No Man's Sky developer Hello Games will appear on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert tonight to presumably talk about the anticipated upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC space game.
As announced previously, Murray will give a "demonstration" of some kind, which we'd expect to be a playthrough of No Man's Sky. He will also speak with Colbert for an interview. The other guests on tonight's show are actors Morgan Freeman and Ruth Wilson.
You can tune in to watch for yourself at 11:35 PM EDT on CBS. Maybe he'll finally announce a release date? Whatever the case, we'll bring you the full video as soon as it's available.
It looks like upcoming Xbox timed-exclusive adventure game Rise of the Tomb Raider will be getting a DLC Pass. That's according to a recently discovered Amazon listing, which claims the $30 offering will include "a range of content that will extend your single-player campaign, and also allow to you compete with friends."
Further specifics about the add-on content were not announced. From the description, it sounds like the game's DLC will include single-player content along with some form of multiplayer functionality.
Microsoft has said it will share further details about how Rise of the Tomb Raider will let you "compete with friends" in the lead-up to launch, though the company has not yet done so.
YouTube sensation PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to about the weird world of Let's Plays.
During the interview, PewDiePie discusses unplugging from traditional forms of entertainment such as TV to dedicate himself to YouTube, and also why people watch videos of others playing games.
Colbert also learns a thing or two about Swedish swear words.
PewDiePie--who is famous for his "Let's Play" gaming videos--is arugably YouTube's biggest star, with close to 40 million subscribers. In 2014, he reportedly earned $7.5 million, and later responded to critics by saying "money doesn't make you happy."
Recently, a game starring the character, called the Legend of the Brofist, was released. It is a 2D platformer which also features other popular YouTube streamers. The game is available on iTunes and Google Play today for $5.
Batman: Arkham Knight will be available to purchase on PC again by the "end of October," according to publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
Posting on the game's Steam page, community admin Yorick said the teams working on improving the performance of the PC version are still implementing fixes and tweaks, with the goal of an October re-release planned.
"As many of you know, we released a major patch for Batman: Arkham Knight PC a few weeks ago. While there were significant performance improvements made to the game, the teams are continuing to work on the additional updates that were outlined in our previous post," he said.
"We expect these updates to be ready at the end of October, at which time the PC version will be made available for purchase. In addition, support for all DLC that has been released for the console versions will be in place."
Shortly after its release, the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight was pulled from store shelves and sales on digital platforms such as Steam were suspended. This was due to significant graphical and performance bugs and glitches.
"We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC," Warner Bros. said in a statement at the time. "We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards."
In the days following the release of Arkham Knight on PC, and the surfacing of its numerous technical issues, it was revealed the port was developed by a small external team while principal developer Rocksteady focused on the console versions.
Rocksteady released a statement saying it would work on remedying the port's problems and, as promised, a patch addressing many of its issues has since been released. The update fixes frame rate hitches, optimises VRAM usage, improves GPU performance, cleans up textures, and more.
A new character for Capcom's upcoming fighting game Street Fighter V has been leaked online. Screenshots of newcomer Laura were accidentally shared by Japanese publication Famitsu (via Eventhubs). The screenshots were reportedly shared by mistake when Famitsu was revealing images of returning character Zangief, who was announced earlier today.
Laura is a brand new character to the series and appears to use electricity in her attacks. According to Eventhubs, the images of her attacks show influence from the Brazilian jiu-jitsu martial art. The stage shown in the screenshots also features visual cues pointing to Brazil as the location.
