By Anonymous on Feb 04, 2018 11:55 pm Super Bowl Sunday is finally upon us and in anticipation of the big game between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, we ran our own simulation between these two teams in Madden NFL 18. We set the stage for our own Super Bowl LII matchup taking place in Minneapolis, Minnesota with full 15 minute quarters and updated rosters. In the video above, we've cut highlighted the biggest plays and moments for your viewing pleasure, and even called the plays from our booth. Since we wanted to get a somewhat accurate prediction, we've used current player rosters for both teams, so Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz had to sit this one out, just like in the real world. However, former Eagles starting QB Nick Foles has been able to use his experience to lead the team through the playoffs, but is now up against this strong Patriots defense. However, Tom Brady and the Patriots offense need to face the second-ranked defense in NFL coming from the Eagles, so this won't be a walk in the park for the five-time Super Bowl champion QB. Clutch plays from both teams come up every quarter, from amazing catches to long rushes, but plenty of fumbles and big mistakes turn the tide at key moments of the game. We hope you enjoy our Super Bowl prediction video, called by GameSpot's own Nick Margherita and Michael Higham with our "sideline" reporter Rob Handlery. Go Pats? Fly Eagles Fly? Find out what happens in our Super Bowl simulation! This isn't our only coverage of the biggest football game of the year; check out what could be the best Super Bowl commercial this year, or what trailers you could catch during the game. Although news about the flick has since been quiet, Yen has confirmed that the project is still happening. Yen posted an image of himself on Instagram that looks a lot like promotional art of Wei Shen, the protagonist of Sleeping Dogs. There's also a few additional images from the game alongside scenes of Yen mimicking the shots. These don't look to be from the actual film and are more of a proof of life for the movie. Alongside the pictures, Yen posted a message saying, "Sometimes great things take a bit of time. Sleeping Dog is motion, you guys ready for this?" Although Yen has been cast in the role of an undercover cop, it hasn't been confirmed whether this character is based on Wei Shen. In the game, Shen is a member of the Hong Kong Police but infiltrates the Triads to bring them down from the inside. However, over time he develops deep connections with people in the organisation and his allegiances to the police and the Triads are put to the test. Previous reports indicated the film is being produced by Original Film and DJ2 Entertainment, under the guidance of producers Neal Moritz (the Fast and Furious series), Dmitri Johnson, and Dan Jevons. Sleeping Dogs was originally released in 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, with a Definitive Edition released in 2014. In GameSpot's Sleeping Dogs review, Carolyn Petit awarded it an 8/10, saying "it's the atmospheric city and the varied story missions that make Sleeping Dogs an alluring adventure." As of yet it has not been confirmed whether the Pork Bun Guy will be featured in the film. By Anonymous on Feb 04, 2018 05:04 am Altered Carbon is out now on Netflix and we're quite big fans of it. Between the cyberpunk sci-fi world, the who-dun-it detective story, and the cast of memorable characters, we think it's one of the best shows on the streaming service. Although sci-fi continues to be perennially popular, cyberpunk as a genre is still somewhat niche. In 2018, however, it is on the cusp of grabbing the attention of a much broader market, and we think Altered Carbon could have a big part of that. In the video, above Lucy and Tamoor discuss the show in detail, tackling the show's themes, its plot, characters, production, and everything else in between. It's a spoiler-filled deep dive, so we recommend watching the series first and then coming back to hear their thoughts. Alternatively, you can watch our spoiler-free Altered Carbon review for a broader look at why we like it. We also have a written Altered Carbon review for you to check out. The show is also densely packed with information, so we've also put together a video breaking down of all the Altered Carbon jargon you need to know. By Anonymous on Feb 04, 2018 05:03 am Netflix's new sci-fi show Altered Carbon is based on a series of novels by Richard K. Morgan. It takes place in a cyberpunk future where death is no longer a limitation on the lives of humankind, and existing in virtual reality is as normal as walking the streets of the real world. The seven settled worlds have evolved to accommodate this massive leap in technology, giving the rich and powerful the means to cheat death by moving between bodies, while miring the less privileged in rundown districts filled with their vices. Naturally, the series is stuffed with grand ideas, existential quandaries, and strange technologies, and--in many cases--it doesn't dwell on them enough to fully explain them. It's easy to get lost in all the tech terminology, references to government agencies, or fleeting historical context, so we've put together a breakdown for all the most important things you need to know to watch Altered Carbon and fully understand what's going on. In the video above, we go through everything from Stacks and Sleeves to AI, VR, Dippers, Songspires, CTAC, and more. We explain what they are, how they fit into the world of Altered Carbon, and why they're important to the story. Of course, we've done this while avoiding major story spoilers (there's some minor spoilers for episode one and two). You can also read about the many cyberpunk terms in Altered Carbon here. Altered Carbon is available to watch on Netflix now, and we think it's well worth your time. You can watch our spoiler-free Altered Carbon review to find out why we like it. We also have a written Altered Carbon review for you to check out. For those looking for a deeper dive, we'll have a spoiler-filled Altered Carbon review coming up soon too. By Anonymous on Feb 04, 2018 02:42 am Fortnite has been a bit up and down in the last week with server issues and a buggy update. Systems designer Eric Williamson has some answers regarding the game's service issues, what's planned for limited time modes, and details on the first shooting test. We already know that Fortnite's most recent service issues have surrounded social and party functions. Because of the extended downtime on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, players of both the Battle Royale and Save the World modes will get a little something for the trouble. Battle Royale players will get 20 battle stars, and Save the World players will get 1,600 seasonal gold. Limited time modes (LTMs), meanwhile will see some adjustments.Although feedback indicates that players don't think revolvers in the sniper shootout mode make sense, Williamson believes otherwise. "In our early playtests, we didn't have any close-quarters weapons, so sniping someone who is five meters away from you felt really odd," he said. "We threw the revolver in there to combat that, so that it felt like that there was something you could do to a person right next to you. We'll evaluate that for future LTMs, but right now, we think that's the best path to go." The purpose of LTMs are to be a sort of testing ground for new modes and gameplay. The purpose of LTMs is to look at options for new modes in solo or duo, and to test how they work for each style of gameplay. A new mode called "Blitz" is also in the works for a LTM; more details should be released soon, though it was recently accidentally added to Quests. The dev team has been wanting to improve shooting for some time now, and as such, a shooting test will be conducted. A few new things are coming to this test, and the team does intend to take the successful changes and put them into the default modes. For the break down of changes, check out the blog post on Epic Games. By Anonymous on Feb 04, 2018 01:30 am Thinking Outside the Box
Nintendo Labo is the name of Nintendo's new DIY "experience," which is coming to Switch this spring. What makes Labo unlike any other game the company has ever released is that it comes bundled with sheets of cardboard, strings, rubber bands, and other materials, with which you can build cardboard peripherals called Toy-Cons. Labo is being released in two separate kits, each of which comes with different materials and activities. The first package, the Variety Kit, lets you build five different Toy-Cons for use with a corresponding mini-game: RC Car, Fishing Rod, Piano, House, and Motorbike. The second Labo kit, Robot, doesn't feature the same breadth of activities, but it is much more complex. It lets players build an intricate cardboard backpack that is used to control a robot on the television screen. We got to try Labo out for ourselves at a preview event this week, assembling some of our own Toy-Cons and playing each of the activities included in the two different Labo kits. You can watch us test out the different Toy-Cons in our Labo gameplay montage, but if you want a closer look at the game, click through the gallery above to see each of the Toy-Cons you can make and learn more about their corresponding activities. Given Labo's rather unusual premise, you may still have questions as to what it is you actually do with the game. If you're still confused, we broke down exactly what Nintendo Labo is. Labo releases in the US and Australia on April 20, while it arrives in Europe on April 27. RC Car
The RC Car is the simplest Toy-Con in the Labo Variety Kit. It can be assembled in only a couple of minutes, and unlike the other activities in the package, it doesn't interact with a specific mini-game on the Switch. Instead, the console itself functions as a remote control for the RC Car. After inserting your Joy-Cons into the sides of the car, you're able to drive it around by pressing buttons on the Switch's screen. The Variety Kit comes with enough material to create two RC Cars. RC Car Fishing Rod
The Fishing Rod Toy-Con is actually comprised of two separate constructions: the rod itself, and a cradle (the "Ocean") that houses the Switch console vertically. The Fishing Rod is attached to the Ocean via a string, and by rotating its reel, you can raise or lower your fishing hook on the Switch screen. This is used to play a simple game of fishing; lower your line until you spot a shoal of fish, and once one bites down on it, you must pull the rod back to hook the fish and rotate the reel to pull it up to the surface. Fishing Rod House
As its name suggests, the House Toy-Con resembles a tiny home. The right Joy-Con is inserted into the chimney, while the Switch console itself is slotted in the center. A fluffy creature lives inside the House, and you're able to interact with it by plugging different "keys" into the sides and bottom of the Toy-Con; one key makes a faucet appear, which you can turn to fill the House with water. Inserting two keys at once lets you play a mini-game, like a short minecart level or a bowling alley, in which you earn candy to feed to the creature. House Piano
The Piano is one of the most complex Toy-Cons to assemble, though it's the most straightforward in terms of what you can do with it. Once put together, the Toy-Con acts like a real piano, playing music when you press its keys. The Switch console is slotted above the keyboard and displays the notes you're pressing. The Piano also comes with three different knobs that can be inserted into the top of the Toy-Con. These change the tone of the notes; one knob, for example, turns each note into a cat meow. Piano Motorbike
The Motorbike Toy-Con resembles the headlight and handlebars of a dirt bike. Each Joy-Con is inserted into one of the handlebars, while the Switch console rests in the center of the Toy-Con and provides your view of the racetrack. There are several different races you can participate in against AI opponents. You press a button on the right handlebar to start your engine, then twist the handlebar to accelerate, turning the Toy-Con to steer your character around the racetrack. Motorbike Robot
Unquestionably the most complex Toy-Con from the two announced Labo kits, Robot has you assemble a cardboard backpack that is worn to control an on-screen robot. The right Joy-Con is inserted into the back of the Toy-Con and reads your movements when you pull the levers attached to your hands and feet. The object of the game we tried was to destroy a city by punching and stomping buildings and other objects. Kneeling down also transforms your robot into a vehicle, while spreading your arms out to the sides allows you to fly. The Toy-Con also comes with a visor; when that is pulled down over your eyes, the action on-screen shifts to a first-person viewpoint. Robot
