One Of 2017's Best Games Likely Headed To Xbox One

By Kevin Knezevic on Mar 08, 2018 12:19 am

Ninja Theory's critically acclaimed action-adventure game, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, may be on the way to Xbox One. The game has, up until now, only been available on PS4 and PC, but the Taiwan Game Software Rating Information board (via Gematsu) recently posted a rating for an Xbox One version, potentially outing an upcoming port.

Lending further weight to a possible Xbox One version, a new rating for Hellblade has also appeared on the Australian Classification board. Ninja Theory hasn't officially announced that it will release the title on Microsoft's console, but the fact that new ratings for it have appeared on two separate ratings boards makes it seem likely that Xbox One owners will soon have a chance to experience the gripping adventure.

Hellblade first released for PS4 and PC in August 2017. The game puts players in the role of the eponymous Senua, a Celtic warrior who embarks on a vision quest to come to grips with the death of her family. GameSpot awarded it an 8 out of 10 in our Hellblade review and called the title "a spellbinding and sympathetic game about loss and redemption." Hellblade was also selected as one of GameSpot's top 10 games of 2017.

"Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice is a game that forces you out of your comfort zone, and for all the right reasons. Presenting a troubled young woman's tempestuous journey of self-discovery and redemption through her eyes, developer Ninja Theory's 'indie-AAA' experiment takes a lot of risks when telling its harrowing, introspective story about the often lonely struggles of suffering from past trauma," wrote GameSpot critic Alessandro Fillari.

Avengers Infinity War: The Best Order To Catch Up On MCU Movies

By Tamoor Hussain on Mar 07, 2018 11:20 pm

Marvel and Disney recently brought the Avengers: Infinity War release date forward, so the movie is coming out earlier than previously expected. While that's exciting for those of us eager to see Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, and the gang take on Thanos, it also means there's less time to get caught up on everything that has happened so far.

Watching every MCU movie that has been released thus far sounds like a mammoth task, but since it's all been building up to this, we reckon it's one worth undertaking. To make things a little easier, and to give you the best catch-up experience you could have, GameSpot's very own Dave Jewitt has put together a handy watch order.

You might think that you don't need a watch order and that you can simply see them using the order they were released and, yes, you can do that, but there's a better way. Since some events in the MCU take place in parallel or reference each other, there's actually a more ideal chronology. Dave has also done a little extra work and suggested the best Marvel One-Shots to watch too. These are shorter mini-movies that were available as part of the home releases on DVD, Blu-ray, and digitally. While not essential to the overall MCU, they're well worth checking out as they provide a little extra colour to the MCU and some deeper insights into important characters.

If you'd prefer to see a list of the movies in Dave's suggested order instead of hearing the lineup delivered in his dulcet tones, take a look below.

  • Captain America: The First Avenger
  • Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter
  • Iron Man
  • Hulk
  • Iron Man 2
  • Marvel One Shot: A Funny Thing Happened on the way to Thor's Hammer
  • Thor
  • Marvel One Shot: The Consultant
  • The Avengers
  • Marvel One Shot: Item 47
  • Iron Man 3
  • Marvel One Shot: All Hail The King
  • Thor Dark World
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron
  • Ant-Man
  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Black Panther
  • Doctor Strange
  • Spider-Man: Homecoming
  • Thor: Ragnarok

Avengers: Infinity War will bring together the MCU to take on Thanos. Along with the core Avengers cast that we know and love, the misfits from Guardians of the Galaxy and characters introduced in Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok will join the fray, along with a few others. Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27.

New Fortnite: Battle Royale Limited-Time Mode Announced, And It Starts Very Soon

By Kevin Knezevic on Mar 07, 2018 10:41 pm

The Solid Gold limited-time mode may now be over, but Fortnite players don't have to wait very long to take part in the game's next special event. Epic is kicking off another limited-time mode for Battle Royale on PS4, Xbox One, and PC tomorrow, March 8, and this one promises to be one of the most competitive yet.

Battle Royale's next limited-time mode is called Teams of 20. As you could probably gather from its name, this new game mode still features 100 players total, similar to a typical match in Battle Royale, but this time they're divided up into five teams of 20. You can watch the brief announcement trailer for the new game mode above.

Teams of 20 is one of roughly five limited-time modes Epic teased would be coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale "in the next month or so." The developer had said it was planning to introduce game types that feature team sizes in between 50v50 and squads (which features four-player groups). Other limited-time modes that players can expect in the near future include a modified version of December's 50v50 event, as well as a Blitz Mode that features shorter match times than normal.

Teams of 20 marks the second limited-time mode of Fortnite: Battle Royale's Season 3, following the Solid Gold event that ran last week. Season 3 kicked off in February with the release of Fortnite's 3.0.0 patch and the new Battle Pass, which features 30 more rewards tiers than previous Battle Passes; you can take a look at all of the Season 3 Battle Pass rewards in our gallery. Among the new weapons Epic plans to introduce to Battle Royale this season are jetpacks, although those were temporarily delayed due to a "last minute design issue."

If you're looking to score more gear in Battle Royale, Amazon Prime members can claim a free Fortnite loot pack right now from Twitch Prime. Additionally, PS Plus subscribers can download a bonus PlayStation Plus Celebration Pack on PS4. If you're still new to the popular PUBG-style game, be sure to check out our guide of Fortnite: Battle Royale building tips.

Free Overwatch Skin For StarCraft 20th Anniversary Available Now

By Steve Watts on Mar 07, 2018 09:50 pm

Overwatch's tribute to StarCraft is now available. A free Kerrigan skin for Widowmaker can be yours by simply logging into the game anytime between now and April 3. The skin gives Widowmaker a Terran makeover, outfitting her with the look of StarCraft's most famous Ghost–at least, before she became the Queen of Blades.

This is one of several cross-promotional goodies Blizzard has planned to celebrate StarCraft's 20th anniversary on March 31. Starting today you can also get portraits and decals by logging into StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft 2, and a Battlecruiser pet in Diablo 3. Hearthstone will get a StarCraft-themed Tavern Brawl on March 21, Heroes of the Storm will sport anniversary portraits starting on March 27, and World of Warcraft will get its own StarCraft pets.

No Caption Provided

Blizzard started laying some groundwork for an anniversary celebration last year, with the announcement that the original would become free, accompanied by a relatively cheap 4K remastered version. StarCraft helped build the studio into the name it is today, so it only makes sense to roll out the red carpet when a big birthday comes around.

This comes hot on the heels of Overwatch's latest new character announcement: Brigette, a support-class and daughter of fellow support Torbjorn. She naturally came along with her own set of set of skins to customize as you like. She's currently only on the public test realm, but she'll be coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One soon.

State Of Decay 2 Release Date, Price Announced For Xbox One And PC

By Kevin Knezevic on Mar 07, 2018 08:45 pm

Microsoft has announced a release date and pricing details for its upcoming zombie survival game, State of Decay 2. The title launches for Xbox One and PC on May 22, and it'll be a little cheaper than fans might expect.

The standard version of State of Decay 2 will run for $30, while the Ultimate Edition costs $50. The latter grants players access to State of Decay 2 a few days early, on May 18. It also includes an Xbox One copy of State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition, as well as the forthcoming Independence and Daybreak DLC packs when they release. Microsoft says that players who pre-order either edition will receive "exclusive in-game pre-order items," though the publisher didn't reveal what those will entail.

Microsoft GM of Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg explained the reason behind State of Decay 2's surprisingly low price point. "Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise," Greenberg said. "We believe State of Decay 2 accomplishes this goal by immersing fans in the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, and we want to give more players the opportunity to join in and experience this unique game."

Like another one of this year's big Xbox-exclusive titles, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 will be added to the Xbox Game Pass service the same day it releases, meaning Game Pass subscribers will also be able to jump into the zombie survival game on May 22. This is part of Microsoft's new initiative to offer first-party titles on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Alongside the aforementioned Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 is one of the most-anticipated Xbox One exclusives of 2018. The game is a sequel to the 2013 Xbox 360 title, and it features a more open and diverse world to explore than the original. It's also one title we think would work great with a battle royale mode.

Monster Hunter World's Next Horizon Zero Dawn Gear Still Available For A Limited Time

By Kevin Knezevic on Mar 07, 2018 08:33 pm

Monster Hunter World players on PS4 have already had an opportunity to craft an exclusive set of Watcher Palico gear inspired by Horizon Zero Dawn, and now they'll have a chance to dress like Horizon protagonist Aloy herself. The second part of Monster Hunter World's Horizon crossover event is now live, and as before, you'll only have a limited time to complete it.

From now until March 15, players can embark on a new Event Quest called The Proving. This six-star mission requires a Hunter Rank of 11 or higher to accept, and it takes place in the Ancient Forest. The objective of the quest appears to be fairly straightforward--hunt an Anjanath--but this particular monster is much larger than the ones players have encountered in the game so far.

"Many captivating machines appear in Horizon Zero Dawn, but the one that made the biggest impression on the Monster Hunter: World development team was the Thunderjaw," Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto explained on the PlayStation Blog. "Anjanath has a very similar skeletal structure to the Thunderjaw, so we felt it was the best fit to be the main adversary in the quest, but not just any Anjanath would do. This Anjanath is at a scale that many players will have never before encountered, and your typical attacks may not reach its height."

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3

Completing The Proving quest will reward you with materials that can be used to craft Aloy's Bow and armor set. Equipping the full set will change your hunter's appearance to resemble Aloy, regardless of your character's gender. You can find out exactly how to unlock Aloy's armor and bow in our guide. You can also take a look at some screenshots of the gear in the gallery above.

The first Horizon-themed Event Quest in Monster Hunter World, Lesson of the Wild, ran until February 8. If you missed out on that quest the first time around, you'll soon have another chance to get the Palico gear. Tsujimoto revealed that Event Quests operate on a "rotating schedule," so the Lesson of the Wild quest will return to the game again "at a later date."

In addition to the new Horizon Event Quest, some PS4 players can also still take part in Monster Hunter World's first Street Fighter V quest. Those who have a save file of Street Fighter V on their console can accept the Event Quest titled Down the Dark, Muddy Path, which will reward players with material to create a set of Ryu armor. That quest and a second one for Sakura armor will be available to all PS4 and Xbox One players at a later date.

The series features the return of Krysten Ritter as the titular hero after she last appeared in Marvel's Defenders. According to GameSpot's review of the new season, the story being told is definitely a slow burn. While the premiere episode may not be as exciting as some were hoping for, there will be plenty of momentum in the installments that follow.

That film is joined by new episodes of David Letterman's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction and The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale, as well as Netflix originals The Outsider, Nailed It, Ladies First, and Bad Guys: Vile City.

Nintendo Switch Playtime Glitch Will Be Fixed With An Update

By Kevin Knezevic on Mar 07, 2018 08:30 pm

This past weekend marked the first anniversary of the Nintendo Switch, but the celebration was dampened for many Switch owners when they discovered the system had begun seemingly resetting their play times. Fortunately, the issue appears to be temporary, and Nintendo has announced an update is on the way to resolve it.

"Some Nintendo Switch owners' play activity info is displaying incorrectly, but play activity is still being recorded accurately in the background," Nintendo said on Twitter. "A future system update will resolve this issue [and] ensure play time data is correctly displayed. We apologize for the inconvenience."

The play time glitch was first reported just prior to the console's first birthday. Many early adopters had discovered that any titles they had started playing on the system's launch day, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, now displayed that they were first played "0 days ago" in their Switch profile, leading many to fear that the system was only keeping track of users' play activity for one year.

Fan publication NF Magazine later reported on Twitter that play times aren't reset permanently, but rather disappear for 10 days--the same amount of time it normally takes for your play activity to show up in your Switch profile. After day 11, your play time would begin displaying again normally. This is certainly good news for players who enjoy having a record of how long they've spent playing each of their Switch games.

Switch celebrated its first anniversary on March 3, enjoying one of the best debut years of any console. You can relive the system's early successes (and a few areas where it can still be improved) in our look back on Switch's great first year. As successful as the console has been so far, Nintendo reportedly doesn't have plans yet to release a new version of the console yet this year.

New Destiny 2 Iron Banner Gear And Rewards Now Available

By Chris Pereira on Mar 07, 2018 08:22 pm

Bungie has kicked off the latest Iron Banner event in Destiny 2. While change is afoot for the mode (as well as Crucible and the game in general), this one will play out in a manner that players will have become accustomed to. That said, there are some new rewards to get your hands on.

Iron Banner is now live once again, and the game type is Clash. The mode runs from now until the weekly reset on March 13, giving you a full week to get your hands on the new rewards. You can see a selection of Curse of Osiris-exclusive items in the gallery below; this includes three weapons that you can buy directly from Lord Saladin at the Tower for Legendary Shards and Iron Banner Tokens: Jorum's Claw (pulse rifle), Orimund's Anvil (auto rifle), and Orewing's Maul (grenade launcher). These are available alongside a full set of armor for each class.

Moreover, this Iron Banner carries over progress made during the previous event. This means you can continue working toward unlocking the armor ornaments that were offered before without having to start from scratch. These require you to do things like claim rewards, defeat enemies, complete milestones, win matches, and secure kills with grenades or melee attacks.

Bungie recently announced that following the upcoming 1.1.4 update, Iron Banner will revert to the 6v6 team size of the first Destiny. Alongside this change, matches will run for 12 minutes with a score limit of 125 points. Control zones will start off unclaimed and take "slightly longer to capture by default." The more players that attempt to capture a point, the faster progress will go (up to a maximum of three players). Those who capture zones will also receive bonus Super energy.

Many other changes are also on the way to Destiny 2, including an overhaul to how Exotic weapons work. A recent update added Nightfall Strike scoring.

Monster Hunter World Becomes Capcom's Best-Selling Game Ever (Sort Of)

By Chris Pereira on Mar 07, 2018 08:21 pm

Before launch, Monster Hunter World seemed poised to be an important game for the franchise in a variety of ways. Between being more welcoming to newcomers and releasing for PS4 and Xbox One (rather than a single handheld), it had the opportunity to really explode. If there was any lingering doubt about that, you can now set it aside, as Capcom has announced yet another sales milestone for the game.

Having already set a new launch record for the series, Capcom has now shared that Monster Hunter World has become the best-selling game in the publisher's history. It has now shipped more than 7.5 million units when combining digital sales and units sent to retailers but not necessarily sold through to consumers yet.

It's worth noting that Capcom appears to be comparing this milestone based on its list of all-time best-sellers. However, that list doesn't always combine sales for all versions of a single game. Resident Evil 5, for instance, is listed as Capcom's best-selling game ever as of December 2017 with 7.3 million sold. However, combining its releases on last-gen and current-gen platforms, as well as its Gold Edition, Resident Evil 5 sales have reached upwards of 10.6 million. Resident Evil 6, similarly, appears to stand at 8.4 million total.

Regardless, this is another impressive milestone for Monster Hunter World given that it's only been available for just over a month and a PC version is still to come. While sales have slowed since launch--World had sold 6 million as of February 9--outselling the bulk of Capcom's library so quickly is good news for the series.

Next Free Game From Amazon / Twitch Prime Now Available

By Chris Pereira on Mar 07, 2018 08:17 pm

Following a delay, the next PC game to be offered for free to Twitch Prime members is now available. The original Devil May Cry--not to be confused with 2013's DMC: Devil May Cry--is up for grabs to everyone with a Prime subscription for a limited time.

Free games and other in-game content (like the recent Fortnite pack that's still available) are offered periodically through Twitch Prime. This Devil May Cry freebie was originally set to go live last month but was delayed due to "unforeseen technical circumstances." As a result, the promotion will run until April 3, giving you just under a month total to claim it. You can grab it from Devil May Cry's hub or by clicking the Prime Loot button in the top navigation bar from anywhere on Twitch's site. You'll need to use the Twitch desktop client in order to download the game, but the game is yours permanently once you claim it.

Devil May Cry was originally released in 2001 on PS2. It's a stylish action game that has spawned several sequels. A collection of the first three games, Devil May Cry HD Collection, launches for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on March 13. It features remastered versions of Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3 with improved visuals and a 60 FPS framerate. You can see a trailer of it above.

Twitch Prime is the premium membership of livestreaming service Twitch. Without knowing it, you may already have a subscription, as Twitch Prime is one of the benefits that Amazon Prime members receive. If you're an Amazon Prime member, you can claim your Twitch Prime membership here.

Nintendo Direct Announced For This Week, Will Focus On New Switch And 3DS Games

By Oscar Dayus on Mar 07, 2018 08:01 pm

Nintendo has announced its next Direct presentation, which will reveal more details on upcoming Switch and 3DS games. The video will air on March 8 at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT (that's 9 AM AEST on March 9 in Australia).

Nintendo specifically promised "new details on Mario Tennis Aces" in its announcement, though more games will also be discussed in the 30 minute presentation. It's unclear at this stage whether the company plans to reveal any new games or merely talk more about titles we already know of.

The video will be the second Direct of the year after the Mini presentation that aired in January. That provided more information regarding Mario + Rabbids DLC and Payday 2's Switch port; it was also where Nintendo revealed Dark Souls Remastered for Switch and an updated edition of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. For more from that event, check out all the new Switch games shown during the January 2018 Nintendo Direct.

As for the presentation coming this week, it's possible we could hear more about Kirby Star Allies--which launches this month--as well as Yoshi for Switch and Pokemon for Switch. For more on the latter, check out nine things we want from Pokemon on Nintendo Switch.

Here's What Pokemon Go Bonuses Are Available After The Legendary Week Event

By Kevin Knezevic on Mar 07, 2018 08:00 pm

Legendary Week is now over in Pokemon Go, and Niantic has shared the results from the 10-day-long event. The company revealed that players managed to defeat the Legendary Pokemon Rayquaza more times than the returning Groudon and Kyogre, which means Pokemon that like windy weather will be a lot more common in the game for the next few days.

From now until March 16, Pokemon that typically spawn in windy conditions, such as Bagon, will be more likely to hatch from Eggs. In addition to that, Raid Battles will likewise feature Pokemon that prefer windy weather. Players will also receive double XP as an added bonus from now until March 16.

March 16 is a notable date for Pokemon Go players to remember, as that is also when Rayquaza will leave the game. The Legendary Dragon-type Pokemon can be encountered until then in Raid Battles at Gyms. However, time has run out to capture its fellow Gen 3 Legendaries, Groudon and Kyogre. Following their initial runs as Raid bosses, the pair returned to Raid Battles for a limited time as part of Legendary Week, but they have once again left the game with the conclusion of the event.

Niantic kicked off Legendary Week last month, on February 23. For the duration of the event, Pokemon Go players had another chance to capture Groudon and Kyogre in Raid Battles alongside Rayquaza, and the Legendary they defeated most would directly influence which kinds of Pokemon will hatch from Eggs for the next few days. If players could defeat Rayquaza more than Groudon and Kyogre combined, then Pokemon that prefer windy weather would be more likely to hatch; if they couldn't, then those that prefer sunny or rainy weather would be more likely.

Niantic has already shared details for the next Pokemon Go Community Day. The event will take place on March 25, and as before, it will feature a rare Pokemon that knows a move it cannot typically learn in the game. Niantic still hasn't revealed what the move will be, but the special Pokemon players will be able to encounter during this month's event is the Pokemon Red and Blue starter Bulbasaur.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Chimera Patch Notes Released, These Operators Are Getting Updated

By Oscar Dayus on Mar 07, 2018 06:01 pm

Update: Rainbow Six Siege's Operation Chimera is coming today, March 6. However, this means Ubisoft is taking the game's servers down--here's when the Operation Chimera update will go live and servers will go back up for your region.

Rainbow Six Siege's latest DLC, Operation Chimera, is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 6, and with it now live on the Technical Test Server, Ubisoft has released its patch notes. In addition to adding the two new Operators, Finka and Lion, and the new co-op Outbreak event, the update introduces some gameplay tweaks and changes a bunch of Operators.

Ela has been a popular pick since her release, but she's to be nerfed in the new update, as Ubisoft believes she is still "picked way too often." Her SMG will suffer from increased recoil and deal less damage than before, and her impact grenades have been replaced by a deployable shield. "She was too good at doing all the roaming work by herself," the developer said, "preparing rotations, being warned by Concussion mines, and of course killing with her SMG. This loadout change will force her to rely on teammates for rotation holes, or to pick the shotgun if she wants to do them herself."

Kapkan is also exchanging his barbed wire for impact grenades, as he apparently had too many tasks during the preparation phase as it was. "Having impact grenades for faster rotations is a better fit for his playstyle," Ubisoft states.

The final Operator tweak pertains to Blitz, who has been made a 2 speed / 2 armor Operator, having previously been 1 speed / 3 armor. The reasoning for this is that "making Blitz faster is the next logical step to making him a more attractive choice and help him close the gap, as he really shines when he manages to get in close quarter with isolated defenders."

Ubisoft has also changed a few things regarding reloads. After the coming patch, you'll be able to interrupt a reload animation by aiming down a weapon's sights. If you do interrupt a reload (by any method) and then reload again shortly afterward, you'll be able to resume it after some key moment--after throwing away an old magazine, for example--rather than having to undergo the entire animation again.

Patch 3.1's final big tweaks are the removal of Bartlett University from the Casual map playlist, to be replaced by Yacht, and that you can no longer walk on top of deployable shields. For the full list of changes, check out the patch notes at the bottom of this article, via Ubisoft.

The update adds two new Operators, which you can read more about in our look at how Lion and Finka change the Rainbow Six Siege meta. In addition, it includes the new Outbreak co-op mode, which looks completely different to traditional Siege. Also starting March 6, Ubisoft will now give Rainbow Six Siege's 20 base Operators away for free, along with all past and future weapon attachments. Looking further ahead, the company has revealed a new Siege game mode called Pick & Ban that's coming later this year, reaffirmed its aim to eventually reach 100 Rainbow Six Siege Operators, and stated it does not currently plan on making a sequel.

Rainbow Six Siege Operation Chimera Patch Notes

Operator Balancing

Ela

We are going to continue building on our previous adjustments to Ela by making more substantial changes this Season. She is still too powerful and, logically, picked way too often. This is mostly because of her SMG still being too strong. As such, we are going to be making the following changes.

  • Increased recoil: The recoil will be harder to control. It will pull harder on the camera, and the maximum amount of kick (max diamond size) is bigger.
  • Damage reduced: The damage is lowered from 28 to 23, to better take the high rate of fire into account
  • Scorpion Evo 3 A1 damage updates: Our objective is that she remains efficient at taking fights at short distances when getting pushed by attackers, but is at a clear disadvantage when taking medium to long range fights versus assault rifles with ACOGs.
  • Loadout changes: A deployable shield will replace her impact grenades. As many of you identified, she was too good at doing all the roaming work by herself: preparing rotations, being warned by Concussion mines, and of course killing with her SMG. This loadout change will force her to rely on teammates for rotation holes, or to pick the shotgun if she wants to do them herself.

Kapkan

  • Impact grenades will replace Kapkan's barbed wires. He already has a lot to do in preparation phase to set his traps up – having impact grenades for faster rotations is a better fit for his playstyle.

Blitz

Blitz has been working out, and will now be a 2 speed / 2 armor operator.

The previous rework of Blitz that let him sprint while holding his shield had a positive impact on his popularity, but he is still at the bottom of the pack. We believe making Blitz faster is the next logical step to making him a more attractive choice and help him close the gap, as he really shines when he manages to get in close quarter with isolated defenders.

General Tweaks And Improvements

Game Health

Rotation desync for DNBO players: In some instances, the server was rejecting shots to players in a DBNO (Down But Not Out) state. The reason for this was a desynchronization with the game server. After downing an enemy, you could see him rotating in one direction from your point of view, while on the server, their movement was completely different, and that is why some of your shots to DBNO targets would not register. We have addressed this desync and your shots should now land properly and accurately on downed enemies.

Player Comfort

  • Changes to ammo update timings: When you reload your weapon there is always a point in the animation where your ammo count updates. We have overhauled the "key" moment where it happens during the animation. All weapons ammo updates are now slightly faster. They have been rationalized according to their animation. This should make reloading a lot more comfortable.
  • Interrupting tactical reload with going to ADS: You can now interrupt a tactical reload (reloading with a round in still in the chamber) with aiming down the sights. Before you could only do it with sprint, but now if you are reloading and someone surprises you and you want to shoot, all you have to do is go to ADS and fire instantly with your remaining ammunition.
  • Reload resume points: Missing reload resume points have been added to all weapons reloads. When you interrupt a full reload, if you have done certain steps (ie. Discarding the empty magazine) you won't do that step again when resuming the reload animation.
  • Raw Input on PC: We will be implementing a new input method on PC. This raw input option reads mouse/keyboard values directly from the hardware, without any post-processing. This may slightly improve the responsiveness of the mouse/keyboard during heavy load. This option can be found under Controls > Raw Input.

Playlist Changes

  • We are removing Bartlett University from the Casual Playlist and adding Yacht back. Ranked Playlist remains unchanged.

Game Balancing

  • Deployable shield walking: You can no longer walk on deployable shields. At any instant that an operator is considered walking on the shield, it will collapse on itself (be destroyed) and the shield is refunded in the inventory of the defender that placed it. That will prevent players from utilizing exploits by walking on a shield.
  • Melee hit validation: Throughout last season, we collected your feedback regarding hit validation in general and melee hit validation in particular. Many of you have experienced how it feels to flank an enemy, approach from behind, land a clear knife hit, hear the audio, but not get the kill. We understand how frustrating it can be, that's why in Patch 3.1 we have applied some tweaks and improvements that should make melee attacks much more reliable, and we are looking forward to receiving your feedback!

Diablo 3 Really Is Coming To Nintendo Switch, According To A New Report

By Oscar Dayus on Mar 07, 2018 05:57 pm

Last week, Diablo fans got excited when the game's publisher, Blizzard, appeared to hint that a version of the game would be coming to Nintendo Switch. The company later quashed the rumors by saying, "We can assure you we're not that clever." Now, a new report claims the long-running action-RPG series is coming to Nintendo's hybrid console after all.

Eurogamer says its sources have informed the site that yes, Diablo is coming to Switch--specifically, it will be a port of Diablo III that makes its way to the device. The report does not state whether Diablo III's Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansions would be included in the port and does not mention a release date. An official announcement is still months away, the site says.

The news comes as something of a surprise after Blizzard said last week that the tweet--which showed a Diablo-themed light being switched on and off--was "meant to be a fun community engagement piece" and that the company has "nothing to announce" regarding the series coming to Switch.

Diablo III originally launched for PC in 2012. It was later released for PS3 and Xbox 360, before being ported to PS4 and Xbox One in 2014. However, Blizzard hasn't released any games for a Nintendo platform since it brought Starcraft to the Nintendo 64 in 2000. People also want to see Blizzard's Overwatch come to Switch, but game director Jeff Kaplan says that's unlikely (although not impossible).

As for the PlayStation exclusives on sale, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is 33% off at £20 / €25, The Last of Us Remastered is down to £16 / €20 (a saving of 54%), and Horizon Zero Dawn's Frozen Wilds expansion is 37% off at £10 / €13. The Only On PlayStation Sale ends on March 21, while the deal of the week (Black Ops III - Zombies Chronicles) is on offer until March 14.

For our US readers, the American Store has its own PS4 sale happening right now. That's in addition to March's free PS Plus games, which are available now. They include Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank on PS4, as well as plenty more on PS3 and PS Vita. That won't be the case for too much longer though, as Sony is dropping free PS3 and PS Vita games from PS Plus from next year.

Call Of Duty: WW2 Update Adds Gun Game And Prop Hunt Modes Permanently

By Eddie Makuch on Mar 07, 2018 10:51 am

Call of Duty: WWII has added two new modes to the roster of permanent playlists. Originally released only for a limited time, the fan-favorite Gun Game and Prop Hunt modes are now available permanently in the multiplayer shooter on PS4, Xbox One, and PC

In Gun Game, you start with a pistol move up with every kill. Getting killed with a melee attack sets you back a tier. Prop Hunt, meanwhile, is a more casual, party mode where players on one side are disguised as map elements like a sandbag or a barrel while the other team hunts them down.

Developer Sledgehammer Games has made a big change for Gun Game to help improve the experience. The mode had a problem with people being AFK, but an adjustment to the game logic now means that those who do no damage for 5 minutes will get booted.

"Thank you for all your helpful feedback in helping us make these modes as fun and satisfying as they can be. Now get in there and have fun!" Sledgehammer said in a Reddit post.

You can find the Gun Game and Pro Hunt modes in the "Featured" playlist tab in the Call of Duty: WWII multiplayer menu. In other news, the game's first expansion, Resistance, is available now on all platforms following its timed-exclusive release for PS4 back in January.

Star Wars Actor Mark Hamill Doesn't Know What The Witcher Is But Sure He'll Be In The TV Show

By Eddie Makuch on Mar 07, 2018 10:51 am

A TV show based on The Witcher is coming to Netflix. There is no word yet as to who will play any of the characters, and that includes Geralt's companion Vesemir. But now Star Wars actor Mark Hamill has raised his hand to play the role despite having no idea what The Witcher is.

Writer Lauren Hissrich, who recently submitted a draft of the script she wrote for the pilot, posted a series of character descriptions on Twitter. For Vesemir, she wrote that he is "fatherly," "wise," "sprightly," and "ancient." He's also a historian and keeper of secrets, she said. People on Twitter quickly realized that this also reads like a description of Luke Skywalker.

Hamill himself weighed in to say that, while he has no idea who Vesemir is or what The Witcher is all about, he's definitely (maybe jokingly?) on board to play the character. CD Projekt Red, the developer of the Witcher games (the show is based on the books, though) even jumped in with a Photoshopped image of Hamill's face on Vesemir's body.

"I have no idea what this is or what it's about but agree it could/should be played by me," Hamill said, attaching the thumbs up emoji to hammer home his point.

Hissrich said she was blown away by Hamill responding to her tweet and his enthusiasm for playing Vesemir. "I may have just had a heart attack, courtesy of [Mark Hamill]. If I'm dead, it's his fault (and it will have been worth it)," she said.

We have also learned more about the characters in Netflix's Witcher show. In addition to Vesemir, Hissrich posted descriptions for Angouleme, Yarpen Zigrin, and Essi Daven.

Hissrich also wrote for Netflix Marvel shows The Defenders and Daredevil, as well as the political TV show The West Wing. In December, it was announced that Hissrich had been hired to work on The Witcher show.

Hissrich is also serving as the Witcher program's showrunner and executive producer, according to Variety. As of yet, there is no word on who will play main character Geralt or any of the other principal characters. We also don't know when the show will arrive.

Officially announced in May 2017, the Netflix Witcher show is based on the eight-part novel series written by Andrzej Sapkowski, instead of the games from developer CD Projekt Red. Sapkowski will be working on the English language drama series as a creative consultant.

A Polish TV series based on The Witcher aired in 2002, but that has been the only adaptation of the franchise for TV so far. A Witcher movie with some big-name talent behind it was was announced for 2017, but that never happened.

As for the Witcher game series, the newest instalment was 2015's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. No new projects in the series have been announced, and developer CD Projekt Red is now working on the much-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077.

Former GameStop CEO Passes Away At 53 After Battle With Cancer

By Eddie Makuch on Mar 07, 2018 10:26 am

J. Paul Raines, the longtime CEO of GameStop, passed away on Sunday after a battle with cancer. He was 53. In a statement, current GameStop CEO Mike Mauler said the company is "profoundly sad" to learn of Raines' passing.

"His spirit is woven into the fabric of our company and the entire GameStop family mourns this loss," Mauler said. "Paul was a brilliant man and remarkable visionary, as well as a compassionate, caring, and inspirational community leader who was beloved by many.

"Paul cared deeply about his work and his GameStop family, but his greatest love was for his family. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to them and all those whose lives and hearts Paul touched during his journey."

Raines served as GameStop's CEO from 2010 until earlier this year. He was responsible for helping diversify GameStop's business model as digital game sales ate away at the kind of profits the company used to see. Under Raines' leadership, GameStop moved into the general technology sector with its purchase of numerous AT&T and Cricket Wireless stores. Today, GameStop is in fact the biggest AT&T retailer in the United States. Raines also led GameStop's charge into the collectibles business, including its acquisition of ThinkGeek.

Raines' wife Claudia told Dallas News that one of her favorite quotes from her husband was, "When things are working, look out the window at those who contributed. When things are not working, look in the mirror."

"Everybody says the same thing, how much of an impact he had on them," Claudia Raines told the newspaper. "He liked to surprise people and speak to them in Spanish. He remembered everyone's name and treated everyone the same, from the janitor to a board member.

Raines joined GameStop in 2008 as its COO, arriving at the video game retailer after holding executive-level positions at Home Depot.

Raines had a tumor removed from his brain in 2014. At the time, GameStop said doctors expected him to make a full recovery. Sadly, his medical condition returned, and Raines went on medical leave in November 2017 and later resigned from GameStop's board of directors to focus on spending time with his family.

Born in Costa Rica and an only child, Raines was raised in Georgia and spent summers in Costa Rica. He attended Georgia Tech and graduated in 1985 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Raines is survived by his wife and two children, Victoria, 23, and Julian, 19.

Raines' legacy continues with his charity endeavors. His family are supporters of a scholarship program for Hispanic students at Georgia Tech. Additionally, Raines created GameStop's Gamer Fund, an employee-sponsored charity that collects money for cash grants that go to employees in times of need.

A Word The Simpsons Made Up Is Now In The Dictionary

By Eddie Makuch on Mar 07, 2018 09:50 am

Merriam-Webster has announced that 850 words are being added to its dictionary--and among them is "embiggen," a word that The Simpsons made up more than 20 years ago.

Writer Dan Greaney came up with the word, which was spoken by the character Jebediath Springfield in the 1996 Season 7 episode "Lisa the Iconoclast." He says in the episode, "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man," which is Springfield's motto. Merriam-Webster defines embiggen as "to make bigger or more expansive."

In response to this bogus word, Mrs. Krabappel says, "Embiggens? I've never heard that word before I moved to Springfield." Ms. Hoover chimes in with her own made-up word to say, "I don't know why, it's a perfectly cromulent word." However, Merriam-Webster is only recognizing "embiggen" this year, so fans of the word "cromulent" will have to wait.

Greaney, who came up with the word "embiggen," responded to the news today on Twitter.

Merriam-Webster's 850 new additions this year come from "a cross-section of our linguistic culture." Other new ones this year include "cryptocurrency," "life hack," "hate-watch," "dumpster fire," and "subtweet." You can read this blog post to see more of the newly added words.

The 29th season of The Simpsons is running now. You can watch new episodes on Sunday nights on Fox. A second Simpsons movie is being considered but no official announcements have been made.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Is Coming This Year, And It's Being Teased By James Harden - Report

By Eddie Makuch on Mar 07, 2018 09:05 am

This year's Call of Duty game is indeed Black Ops 4. That's according to a report today from Kotaku, which follows on from an earlier report claiming that this would be the case. None of this is a surprise, given that Black Ops creator Treyarch is confirmed as developing this year's game. But as of yet, Activision has yet to formally announce the title.

Lending even further credence to the speculation is that NBA star James Harden wore what looks like a Black Ops 4 hat tonight as he walked into his team's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Harden was also wearing a camo outfit, for what it's worth.

Two sources told Kotaku that Black Ops 4 is coming from Treyarch this year, and that it will take place in the near future. Activision has not yet commented. A source speaking to Kotaku added that Harden's hat is indeed the logo for Black Ops 4. It looks like the game won't use IV as the Roman numeral for four--instead, it uses IIII, which is most commonly seen on watches and clocks.

Historically, Activision announces new Call of Duty games in April or May, though given that Harden is already teasing it, that timeline could be moving up this year. We will report back with more details on this year's Call of Duty game as they are announced.

Treyarch also created the fan-favourite Zombies mode, so we expect an updated version to come with Black Ops 4. Treyarch's Black Ops III was released in 2015, so, given the three-year development cycle for Call of Duty games, it was expected that Treyarch would make this year's game. Call of Duty releases rotate between Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and Treyarch.

Despite being more than two years old, Black Ops III remains popular and continues to get new updates. Just today, Activision released a new map and mode for the game.

Limp Bizkit Singer Fred Durst's New Movie Starring John Travolta Is Now Shooting

By Eddie Makuch on Mar 07, 2018 08:30 am

Production has begun on the movie inspired by the events of Limb Bizkit singer Fred Durst's life starring John Travolta. Shooting is now underway on the thriller Moose, which sees Travolta playing a "rabid movie fan" whose admiration for an action hero (played by Devon Sawa) turns into stalking. This story was inspired by a person who stalked Durst in real life years ago.

Durst wrote the script with Dave Bekerman, and is directing the movie. The news today comes by way of Hollywood news site Variety. There was some amount of confusion today about this, as Variety initially posted a tweet that said Travolta would play Durst in the movie. People got excited about that. But unfortunately, this is inaccurate, and Variety has since deleted the tweet.

Moose is shooting in Birmingham, Alabama. There was apparently already a scary moment on set involving Sawa and Travolta, but thankfully both actors are OK. Sawa said Travolta had a "brutal fall" during a scene, but got right up and asked if the cameras kept rolling.

Moose is scheduled to hit theatres later this year.

Durst, 47, has already directed two movies: The Education of Charlie Banks starring Jesse Eisenberg and The Longshots starring Ice Cube.

Durst is still touring with Limp Bizkit. The band, which was formed all the way back in the early '90s, is heading to Australia later this month for the inaugural Download Australia and other sideshows.

While You Wait For The Next Halo Game, Microsoft Is Launching A New Master Chief Story

By Eddie Makuch on Mar 07, 2018 06:59 am

While no new Halo games have been announced, those looking to learn more about main character Master Chief now have something to look forward to this year. Microsoft today announced Halo: Collateral Damage, a new, three-part mini-series book that shines a light on Chief "during some of his exploits in the Covenant War."

Here is the official description, as shared by Microsoft on Halo Waypoint:

"Halo: Collateral Damage follows the Master Chief and Blue Team as they are deployed by the UNSC to an unstable colony world. Their mission: to terminate the Covenant's efforts to uncover something ancient and powerful beneath the planet's surface. However, as the mission takes a turn for the unexpected, the Spartan-II strike team realizes that the stakes of their mission are higher than they imagined, and they'll have to rely on each other and a small group of human rebels to survive."

Collateral Damage is being written by Alex Irvine, who previously wrote Halo: Rise of Atriox #4, along with the Iron Man story The Rapture. Doing the art for Collateral Damage are David Crosland (artist), Leonard O'Grady (colorist), Simon Bowland (letterer), and Zak Hartong (cover).

Issue 1 of Collateral Damage will be available to buy starting on June 6, with pre-orders at comic stores available now. You can see the first piece of art from the series above.

We know that Halo 6--or whatever Microsoft decides to call the next mainline Halo game--is in development, but it has not yet been officially announced. Despite that, we know it will have split-screen support, which is good news considering that Halo 5 left it out. In other news, developer 343 recently stressed that its ongoing support of Halo: The Master Chief Collection will not have an impact on the next core Halo game.

2015's Halo 5 was the last entry in the core FPS series. There was three years between 2012's Halo 4 and Halo 5, so if Microsoft is keeping with that schedule, Halo 6 could be out this year. Of course, it hasn't been announced yet, but we sure do hope to see or hear about it during the Xbox E3 2018 briefing in June.

Final Fantasy 15 PC Guide: Money Making Tips

By Matt Espineli on Mar 07, 2018 06:18 am

Final Fantasy XV is finally out now for PC, which means there's a multitude of newcomers playing the game for the first time. For the uninitiated, money can be hard to come by in the game. Unlike other Final Fantasy games, the game prioritizes realism above all else, so veterans, don't expect to get Gil (money) from a monster you slay in a dungeon. You need to be diligent about finding ways to make ends meet, lest you catch yourself in the field with weak weapons and zero healing items. To help you survive the journey to reclaim your kingdom, we've detailed some of the best ways to make money in Final Fantasy XV below. But if you're looking for more general tips, check out our guide detailing 11 tips you should know before starting.

The PC version of Final Fantasy XV includes the base game and its various DLC expansions, including those themed around each of your party members and the one adding the Comrades multiplayer mode. Additionally, if you purchase the game by May 1, you'll be entitled to Half-Life/Final Fantasy XV and The Sims 4 crossover content. Also out now is Final Fantasy XV's Royal Edition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This package includes the base game and all previously released DLC.

Hunting Contracts

Hunting contracts are a great way to earn Gil early on. When you're travelling, stop by any local restaurant and chat with the owner to check out the open hunting contracts they have available. Most contracts offer Gil for your troubles, but others offer additional rewards, such as treasure, healing items, and accessories. However, be wary of the recommended level listed beside each contract. It's a waste of your time if you take on a contract that you're in no way prepared for, so don't get cocky.

Hunting is the most consistent way to earn Gil.

Hunting is one of the most consistent ways of earning Gil; it's always in your best interest to take on a contract if you're free. But keep in mind, some contracts require you to be a specific rank to choose them. The only way to increase your rank is by completing the contracts available to you. Also, you can only take one contract at a time, so choose your battles wisely.

Carrot Farming

You wouldn't think it, but you can actually grow vegetables in FFXV--carrots to be exact. Growing them can turn you a profit as long as you have the patience to raise them properly. You acquire the ability to grow carrots when you get to a cabin in Cape Caem at a certain point in the story. From there, an NPC gives you carrot seeds that can be planted in the worked soil up the hill near the cabin.

Carrots can be a great source of income.

After planting the carrot seeds, rest overnight and check on their progress. If a few begin to sprout, you're free to harvest them at any time. However, if you wait longer, you increase the chances of more carrots sprouting. Be wary: once you've harvested them, you'll have to wait a little while before you can start planting more seeds again.

Once you're satisfied, take your harvested carrots to the restaurant owner standing beside the tree, and he'll offer to pay you 500 Gil for each carrot you have. You can sell your batch for a decent profit; alternatively, the restaurant owner also offers to trade you special items for carrots. You can get a random weapon for four carrots, random auto parts for three carrots, and Ulwaat Berries for two carrots.

Sell Your Treasure (But at Your Own Risk)

As you explore the world, you'll gather a multitude of treasures that can be sold at shops for varying amounts of Gil. While you're encouraged to sell Treasures, keep in mind that they can also be used towards the spell crafting process. If you're a heavy magic user, double check what effect the treasure you're looking to sell has on your spells. Perhaps you might want to reconsider selling that Ancient Dragon Tooth, so you can apply Stopcast to a spell, an effect that allows you to halt enemies in their tracks. Otherwise, feel free to sell the treasure you obtain; you'll need all the Gil you can get.

Vyv's Photography Sidequests

Taking photos for the journalist named Vyv is an easy way to get rich quick, so if you're struggling for money, seek out his photography assignments. When you reach Lestallum, head down to the view overlooking the cliffside. You'll find Vyv there and he asks if you can take photographs of the world's landmarks for his articles. This sidequest tasks you to go to a specific location, take a photo, and return to Vyv to complete it. You can go on a multitude of different photography assignments, so long as you keep accepting his subsequent requests, and each time earns you hefty rewards, typically upwards of 12,000 Gil or more.

Vyv's photography assignments offer hefty rewards.

However, be mindful of the time of day when you travel to the specified destinations; you won't be able to take the required shots at nighttime. Time your journeys accordingly and seek out overnight accommodations if it gets too late. Eventually this line of sidequests will end after you've completed them all, so don't rely on this as your primary means of earning Gil.

Star Wars: Snoke Could Return In A Prequel

By Eddie Makuch on Mar 07, 2018 05:26 am

2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens introduced an all-new bad guy, Supreme Leader Snoke, a CG character played by Andy Serkis. There was a certain level of mystery and intrigue surrounding the character, so some fans were let down in The Last Jedi when Rey and Kylo killed him. Does he have a backstory? What is it?

We never got those answers from The Last Jedi.

Now, Serkis is talking more about the character, sharing some intriguing details in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. He said Lucasfilm was intentionally mysterious with Snoke, adding that he had conversations with The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams and The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson about backstories for Snoke that explain where he came from. While fans may be happy to learn that Snoke does indeed have a backstory, the tough news is that we'll have to wait a while to learn more, if we ever do.

"I've been asked to not shed anything, should we want to bring him back in any way whether [in a] prequel or whatever," Serkis said. "I think there's something cool about that. It still does remain a mystery for people. I know that some people find it incredibly frustrating, but I think it allows for further exploration and layering at a further point."

In The Last Jedi, we saw Snoke up close--and he had many scars and other disfigurements. Serkis teased that Snoke has carried his injuries, sustained in earlier battles, "for a long time."

"It's a sort of decay as well. He's quite an old character, and those battle scars are affecting his recovery and his body's started to break down as well," Serkis said, adding that he believes Snoke is "a couple hundred years old."

Also in the interview, Serkis said he hopes Lucasfilm decides to bring back Snoke someday. But how? "Anything's possible in a Star Wars movie," Serkis said. "I'd be all up for it. I think there's a lot more to be had from the character for sure, but I'm not in discussions with anybody at all about it."

The next Star Wars movie is the Han Solo standalone film that opens in May. After that, Star Wars: Episode IX will follow in 2019.

Tennis World Tour Video Showcases A Federer Versus Monfils Match on PC

By Miguel Concepcion on Mar 07, 2018 04:52 am

There aren't many tennis video games on the horizon, but one that's coming out soon looks promising. Tennis World Tour is an upcoming tennis game by Breakpoint Studio, bringing in development experience of designers from 2K Czech, the same folks who created Top Spin 4. At first glance of this gameplay video, the action on the court might look arcade-inspired, but don't expect a Virtua Tennis-like experience. Controls are more simulation-styled, which complement the game's in-depth tour component. Taking pages out of the EA Sports playbooks, Tennis World Tour features ability cards to help customize your player, not to mention clothing and gear to unlock. And you'll need to put thought into your tour schedule, since jet lag actually plays a factor into your performance. You'll need all the strength you can get when you face off against the current greats. This video shows Gael Monfils and 20-time majors winner Roger Federer but you'll also be able to play as John Isner, Nick Kyrgios, and 26 other confirmed players. This also includes a handful of women players like Caroline Wozniacki and Madison Keys. Unfortunately, the Williams sisters have not been confirmed. Tennis World Tour is scheduled for release May this year for Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

God Of War PS4 Pro Bundle Announced By Sony

By Chris Pereira on Mar 07, 2018 04:38 am

God of War's release is now just over a month away, an occasion which marks the first big PS4 exclusive release of the year for Sony. More importantly, God of War is the first new game in the series to be released in five years. Sony plans to go all-out for the release, and as such, it has announced a PS4 Pro bundle that comes with a specially designed console and controller.

As pictured below, the console is primarily silver and grey, with some yellow and dark grey highlights. The top of the console is adorned with the skill tree from the game that's used to upgrade Kratos's new Leviathan Axe. On the front, you'll see runes that represent different realms from the game. The matching controller features a much simpler design with the same colors; the right grip includes the Huldra Brothers brand that's also seen on the Leviathan Axe, while touchpad has the God of War logo.

Both the system (which is otherwise a standard 1 TB PS4 Pro) and controller are available in the limited edition God of War PS4 Pro bundle. It also includes a physical copy of God of War and unspecified "digital content." It'll be released on the same day as the game, April 20, and will cost $400 in the US (the same price as a standard PS4 Pro) or $500 CAD. The bundle will also be available internationally, although specific pricing has not been shared.

As noted above, God of War is the first game in the series since 2013's God of War: Ascension. The new entry features a markedly different tone from past games, as it centers around Norse mythology (rather than Greek) and the story of Kratos and his son, Atreus. In addition to the base version, there are also more expensive special editions available, though you won't get those with the new PS4 Pro bundle.

New Mario Rewards And Discounts Added To My Nintendo

By Kevin Knezevic on Mar 07, 2018 04:35 am

Nintendo has added a few new rewards to its My Nintendo rewards program. As usual, the rewards come in the form of discounts for select 3DS and Wii U games, in this case several recent and classic Mario titles as an early way to commemorate Mario Day (March 10).

Four new discounts are now available to choose from. On 3DS, My Nintendo members can get 30% off of Paper Mario: Sticker Star (90 Gold points), 40% off of New Super Mario Bros. 2 (700 Platinum points), or 40% off of the classic Game Boy Color game Super Mario Bros. DX (240 Platinum points). Wii U owners only have one new discount to consider, 30% off of Mario Party 10 (700 Platinum points).

On top of those discounts, Nintendo has also added new Mario-themed wallpaper and 3DS themes to the rewards catalog. Members can also still redeem their points for some existing Mario game discounts, including 40% off of Mario Kart 7 (930 Platinum points), 30% off of Super Mario 3D World (400 Platinum points), 30% off of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (50 Gold points), and 40% off of Dr. Luigi (400 Platinum points).

Outside of the Mario rewards, this month marks the last chance you have to pick up the latest batch of free My Nintendo games, which include Year Walk, Gunman Clive HD Collection, Mighty Switch Force, and Siesta Fiesta. You can find the full My Nintendo Rewards catalog here.

Nintendo has recently made some big changes to the My Nintendo program. Members can now use their Gold points toward the purchase of select Nintendo Switch games and DLC from the Eshop or Nintendo's website. You can read more about how that works here.
