The next expansion for World of Warcraft is finally here. The Battle for Azeroth adds another chapter to WoW's story, encompassing a new campaign for players to fight their way through.

Battle of Azeroth releases globally today. In the western hemisphere, the expansion launches at 3:00 PM PT / 6:00 PM ET / 7:00 PM BRT / 11:00 PM BST on August 13. For the eastern hemisphere, these times translate to 12:00 AM CEST / 1:00 AM MSK / 6:00 AM CST / 7:00 AM KST / 8:00 AM AEST on August 14.

In Battle for Azeroth, the Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner is marching towards the Darnassus. Depending on their faction, level 110 or higher players can side with Stormwind or the Undercity in preparation for the ensuing conflict. The expansion implements updates to the PvP talent and Honor systems, and makes a few changes to classes and specializations. Communities makes it easier for players to connect with others who share their interests.

Battle of Azeroth also increases the level cap to 120. The expansion adds bounties to the game too, letting you make your fortune by hunting down other players. Becoming an assassin-for-hire raises your infamy, increasing the likelihood of you showing up on a bounty board one day.

World of Warcraft is available on PC. The game has received numerous expansions over the course of its lifetime, but a new Classic mode will allow players to experience WoW as it was at launch in 2004.

Get Your First Look At Live-Action Mulan

By Anonymous on Aug 14, 2018 12:11 am

Disney announced that it has started production on the live-action adaptation of its 1998 animated classic Mulan. To mark the occasion, it released the first promotional photo of its star, Liu Yifei (Once Upon a Time, The Forbidden Kingdom) in the title role, brandishing a sword.

Yifei is joined by a who's who of Asian and Asian-American actors, including Donnie Yen (Star Wars: Rogue One), Jet Li (Shaolin Temple), Gong Li (Memoirs of a Geisha), Jason Scott Lee (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny), Yoson An (The Meg), and many more. It will open in US theaters on March 27, 2020.

Mulan tells the tale of a young woman who poses as a man to protect her father from conscription into the Chinese army, which is battling a dangerous army of northern invaders. We've seen some indication that this live-action version will differ from the animated movie. Gong Li is playing a new character, a powerful witch who appears to be this film's primary antagonist. Jet Li is playing the Emperor of China, which could mean we'll see him play a more action-oriented role than the wizened elder of the animated original.

Mulan joins several Disney properties that recently have been adapted or will be soon. Maleficent, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast have already been released. Meanwhile the studio has plans for a live-action Lion King, Aladdin, Cruella based on 101 Dalmations, and Tink based on the Peter Pan character.

WWE Summerslam 2018 Predictions: Lesnar Will Win Again, And We'll All Be Disappointed

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 11:14 pm

On Sunday, August 19, WWE's Summerslam returns to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York for a fourth year in a row, bringing along with it a massive card and plenty of championship matches to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. This is going to be one, long show. Prepare yourself.

Summerslam begins at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT on the WWE Network. The programming schedule for August 19 has been released, and the Kickoff Show will start two hours prior. Just like the the past couple of years, Summerslam's Kickoff has been two hours long. So if you plan on catching the entire event, make sure to tune in at 5 PM ET / 2 PM PT, as the Kickoff Show tends to have a couple matches on the program. As of this writing, there are 12 matches at 2018's Summerslam, and there's a possibility one more will be added.

If you're looking to watch Summerslam, but don't have the WWE Network, you can sign up for free for a month right now. After the trial subscription is up, the service costs $10 a month. However, there is no obligation to continue using the WWE Network after the trial.

While there are a lot of matches on the Summerslam card, one of the most notable is Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz. While you could say this rivalry dates back to 2010, when Miz was the mentor to Bryan on the first version of the TV series NXT, things really heated up back in August of 2016 when Miz went off on Bryan on an episode of Talking Smack. At the time, Bryan wasn't cleared to wrestle, but now he is, and this is the first time these two have faced each other in the ring in years. This is easily the best match build on the card.

Additionally, many titles are on the line, including the WWE Universal Championship, which Brock Lesnar still has in his possession. He'll be facing Roman Reigns yet again, and this may be the time Lesnar finally loses the title, but we've been wrong on countless occasions before.

Summerslam match card:

  • Rusev & Lana vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas & Zelina Vega (Kickoff Match)
  • Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Drew Gulak (For the Cruiserweight Championship)
  • Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Jeff Hardy (For the United States Championship)
  • Carmella (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch (For the Smackdown Women's Championship)
  • Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz
  • Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Seth Rollins (For the Intercontinental Championship)
  • Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens
  • The Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs. The New Day (For the Smackdown Tag Team Championship)
  • Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin
  • Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Ronda Rousey (For the Raw Women's Championship)
  • AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe (For the WWE Championship)
  • Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns (For the Universal Championship)

Come back to GameSpot on Sunday, August 19 for live coverage of Summerslam.

Rusev & Lana vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas & Zelina Vega (Kickoff Match)

This feels like a perfect Kickoff match for Summerslam. Rusev vs. Andrade Almas--on its own merit--would be a really great PPV match, and the addition of Zelina Vega and Lana is fine. We'll get to see how these women have evolved as wrestlers a bit more. Regardless, this does feel like a push for Almas and Vega, since Rusev and Lana couldn't be more over right now. Because of that, I'm thinking Almas and Vega will get the win.

Our prediction: Almas and Vega win

Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Drew Gulak

(For the Cruiserweight Championship)

I miss the days where Drew Gulak would come out and mention he had a Powerpoint Presentation, and we'd all laugh at his antics. Now, he's a serious wrestleman and has a shot at winning 205 Live's Cruiserweight Championship from the delightful Cedric Alexander. While Gulak was a dynamite comedic heel, he's evolved into something new and improved, and this seems like the time for him to start a championship run.

Our prediction: Gulak wins

Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin

Why am I enjoying this rivalry so much? It's pretty much just another story where a big guy thinks he can beat up a small guy because there's a size difference. It's a pretty standard story, but what I'm finding so appealing about it is that both of these men are pulling it off. Although this feud has been going on for a bit already, I'd like to see it continue past Summerslam, which means Balor needs the win, so he can use his "Constable" powers to make Balor's life hell, post-PPV.

Our prediction: Balor wins

The Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs. The New Day

(For the Smackdown Tag Team Championship)

While I'm a fan of both these teams, I have lukewarm feelings towards this match. New Day and Bludgeon Brothers have a history with each other, like when they almost murdered Xavier Woods, so there's some heat behind the match. I see New Day squeaking out a win with all of these men being locked in a giant cage for Hell in a Cell in a rematch next month.

Our prediction: The Bludgeon Brothers

Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens

(For the Money in the Bank contract)

On the flip side of the "big vs. small" storylines, here is one featuring two of Raw's most interesting characters that's falling flat for me. Because Strowman's Money in the Bank contract being on the line is a bit of a curveball, this leads me to believe that Owens will win, even though it feels like Strowman should come out on top. Regardless of who wins though, they will be cashing in that contract at the end of the night.

Our prediction: Owens wins

Secondary prediction: The winner will cash in later in the evening.

Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Seth Rollins

(For the Intercontinental Championship)

While the finish for their Ironman match at Extreme Rules was lackluster, this rivalry has been straight fire. It has showcased some phenomenal in-ring action the past couple of months. I could watch Ziggler and Rollins fight forever. However, Ziggler as champion, with Drew McIntyre protecting him, is working well on television, so I'm thinking Ziggler will win again with the help of his friend/monstrous bodyguard. Hopefully, this will lead to a triple threat between all three men at Hell in a Cell.

Our prediction: Ziggler wins

Carmella (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch

(For the Smackdown Women's Championship)

Can anyone stop Carmella's reign of terror over the women's division on Smackdown? I hope not, but Summerslam could be the place where it happens. She'll have to defend her championship against both Becky Lynch and Carmella in a triple threat match. While Lynch and Charlotte are friends, they'll have to put their feelings aside for the battle, which could play into Carmella's hands. However, if you've been following these predictions the past year, you know I'm a Lynch supporter, so as always, I'm giving her the win. I truly hope I'm not wrong again.

Our prediction: Lynch wins

Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Jeff Hardy

(For the United States Championship)

Nakamura and Hardy's rivalry continues into Summerslam, and maybe this time Hardy wears a cup as his opponent loves hitting people below the belt. This is Nakamura's time to shine as a champion, and the United States Championship is the perfect fit for him right now. I don't see him losing the title or this match.

Our prediction: Nakamura wins

Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

Out of every match on the Summerslam card, this is the one I am looking forward to the most. Daniel Bryan and Miz have a longstanding feud, dating back to Bryan's first appearance during the NXT reality show days. Now that Bryan can wrestle again, this will be the first time in years the two men have faced each other in the ring. This rivalry won't and can't end here though. It could honestly go either way, but personally, I like the idea more of Miz winning here by despicable means and Bryan demanding a fair rematch in order to prove he's better in the ring.

Our prediction: The Miz wins

Come back to GameSpot on Tuesday, August 14 for an interview with Bryan about his history with The Miz.

Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Ronda Rousey

(For the Raw Women's Championship)

When it comes to this match, I guess the biggest question about it would be "Is it Ronda Rousey's time?" She's had a few televised matches and a couple more house show matches, but that doesn't mean she or the fans are ready for her to carry the title. While undoubtably Rousey will someday be the Raw Women's Champion, I don't think Summerslam will be where her journey begins.

Our prediction: Bliss wins but there will be a rematch

AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe

(For the WWE Championship)

At least someone in the men's division is defending their main event title regularly. With AJ Styles as champion, Smackdown viewers are treated to dream match after dream match. Sure, most of matches already happened in NJPW, ROH, and TNA, but it's new to the WWE audience. And while I may be predicting one too many title changes for Summerslam, I want to see these guys battle more than once, and more importantly, I want to see Joe as champion, even if that means dethroning Styles, who is doing a phenomenal job--pun intended.

Our prediction: Samoa Joe wins

Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns

(For the Universal Championship)

For the past couple of years, I feel like a broken record saying, "This is when Reigns will win the Championship, and Brock will leave, never to return." Sadly, every single time, Lesnar comes out on top, and we're stuck with a Universal Champion that rarely defends his title or shows up on TV. As a WWE fan, it is frustrating because the majority of us want to see the title around someone else's waist.

However, Lesnar really does seem on the outs with the company, and I truly think--like the mark that I am--that this will be it for him. However, he's still going to beat Reigns, mainly to pull a fast one on the audience and get them enraged, and then it'll be Owens (or Strowman if my previous prediction is wrong) who cashes in the Money in the Bank contract at the end of the match to beat Lesnar for the title.

Our prediction: Lesnar wins

Secondary prediction: The MITB contract is cashed in and Lesnar loses the title, finally.

PS4's Spider-Man Official Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Lots Of Explosive Action

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 10:54 pm

There's less than a month to go until Marvel's Spider-Man, the latest action game in the iconic franchise, hits PS4, and now we're getting a look at the full gameplay trailer. In the video above, we see Spider-Man swinging through the city, smashing through windows, dodging explosions, and of course, fighting his many, many enemies.

The trailer shows off some of Peter Parker's more incredible aerial feats, like attempting to stop a helicopter from crashing and facing off against foes on rooftops high in the sky. Early impressions of gameplay, like those from our own GameSpot crew's playthrough, are very positive: web slinging and parkour feel as great as they look, and so does a combat system that's easy to pick up but also complex enough to reward experimentation.

This latest Spider-Man will take the classic character's story in an original direction, not based on an existing comic, film, or game. You play as both Peter Parker and his superhero alter-ego, and must defend New York City from a super villain threat. Gameplay takes place in an open-world setting, and you will also have the opportunity to play as MJ. In this game, she is an investigative journalist, and in at least one mission you switch back and forth between her and Peter to successfully take out a big time crime boss. Read more about GameSpot's early MJ gameplay impressions.

Marvel's Spider-Man releases exclusively for PS4 on September 7. There are several options to buy, complete with pre-order bonuses including a Spidey Suit Pack and extra Skill Points (which allow you to unlock abilities from the start of the game like active finishers, web grab, or faster web swinging). There is a Standard Edition, a Digital Deluxe Edition, and a Collector's Edition, each one with more goodies inside. If you want to go all out, there's also a whole Spider-Man-themed PS4 Pro setup with 1TB of space. Check out our full roundup of ordering options, and watch GameSpot's full Spider-Man GamePlay impressions.

New Rainbow Six Siege Operator Clash Looks Like A Defensive Version Of Montagne

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 10:53 pm

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Year 3 continues with Season 3, which introduces Operation Grim Sky. Operation Grim Sky adds a map rework for Hereford Base, as well as two new Operators--the first of which just got her first trailer.

Nicknamed Clash, she's described on Rainbow Six Siege's blog as "a Defender from Great Britain. She's a tough police officer who's an expert on mob behavior and snatch-squad tactics. She knows she belongs on the front line and she won't tolerate any nonsense." Clash is the first Rainbow Six Defender to come with a shield, which seems to fully extend and cover her entire body like the Attacker Montagne.

Unlike Montagne, Clash's shield looks lighter, which probably translates into a faster movement speed at the cost of being unable to block powerful explosives. Clash's trailer also suggests she needs both hands to wield her shield, unlike Montagne, Fuze, and Blitz who can hold up their shield with one arm and fire with a pistol from the other. Since she can't use her hands to fire a gun, Clash's shield comes equipped with a taser, which appears powerful enough to launch electricity forward. Whether this taser merely stuns or outright kills hasn't been revealed, but regardless Clash seems to be a support Operator for Defense teams. She acts as a much taller barricade for weak points and can dispense crowd control against aggressive Attackers.

Clash's full reveal, along with the rest of the changes coming to Rainbow Six Siege in Operation Grim Sky, will be announced during Six Major Paris on August 19. The event will be streamed live via Twitch. Rainbow Six Siege is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Batwoman Star Ruby Rose Quits Twitter After Casting Backlash

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 10:44 pm

Last week, it was announced that the role of Batwoman in The CW's DC shows will be played by The Meg and John Wick: Chapter 2 star Ruby Rose. Rose will make her debut as the character in this fall's crossover between the four shows in the network's Arrow-verse, before headlining a standalone Batwoman show in 2019. However, the star has now quit Twitter because of the backlash she has suffered as a result.

As reported by Variety, Rose has become the target of trolls who have expressed their displeasure at her casting. The current incarnation of Batwoman--aka Kate Cane--first appeared in DC comics in 2006 and is an openly gay character. Rose herself is an out lesbian and has described opinions that she wasn't right for the role as "ridiculous."

Before deleting her account, she wrote: "Where on Earth did 'Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can't be Batwoman' come from--has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I've ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with 'she's too gay' how do y'all flip it like that? I didn't change. I wish we would all support each other and our journeys."

The actress signed off by stating that she was taking a "break from Twitter to focus all my energy on my next 2 projects. If you need me, I'll be on my Bat Phone."

Rose is the latest star who has been forced to quit social media as a result of targeted abuse. In June, Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Kelly Marie Tran abandoned her Instagram account, and was soon followed by Stranger Things' Millie Bobbie Brown, who similarly left Twitter.

Rose will appear in the The CW's annual crossover this fall, which will incorporate The Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. The Batwoman show is expected to premiere in the fall of 2019, and will be executively produced by The Vampire Diaries showrunner Caroline Dries.

Rose is also one of the stars of The Meg, the shark thriller which is currently at the top of US box office. The movie opened last Friday and made a massive $44 million in its first weekend, which was twice the predicted opening gross.

Stranger Things Comic Gives Minor Character From Netflix Series The Spotlight

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 10:34 pm

When the first season of Stranger Things hit Netflix in the summer of 2016, it took almost no time for the series to become a smash hit, accumulating a legion of fans. Now, two years later, the wait for a third season is rough. Though in production now, Season 3 of Stranger Things won't arrive on the streaming service until sometime in 2019--more than a year after the last new episode.

There is something coming that could help make that wait easier to handle, though. Dark Horse Comics is releasing a companion comic book series to Stranger Things, showing a story and character that Season 1 wasn't able to go in-depth on. While Eleven and her friends battled the Demogorgon during that first season, as they searched for the missing Will Byers, viewers didn't get a lot of exposure to what Will was going through. Now that changes, as you can see by the covers for the third issue of the series, which GameSpot is exclusively debuting below.

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4

"The story is basically Will's perspective on the events of season one, so we're seeing how he survived in the Upside Down," writer Jody Houser tells GameSpot. "You know, those encounters that his mother had with him and his friends, hearing his voice, where he actually was and what he was doing during those moments. It's really sort of getting to see Will, who was much more a minor character in the first season. So this is his story."

His story is a key missing component in Season 1 and should give fans plenty more insight about what exactly the Upside Down is and what about it was so drawn to Will. More importantly, though, it should help those that watched the first two seasons have a better understanding of Who Will is.

"I think we're going to learn that maybe he's a lot stronger than people would give him credit for," Houser teases. "He's gone for a very long time, and yet he's the one that comes out alive in the end. Spoilers for people who haven't seen Season 1 yet. You know, so there's definitely an inner strength to him to be able to navigate such a hellish world for so long, so we're really going to get to see examples of that in the comic."

For Houser, getting to tell these stories set in the worlds of fan-favorite properties is one of the favorite parts of her job. With comics based on Orphan Black, Doctor Who, and Star Wars, just to name a few, she's made quite a name for herself in expanding upon these universes. "I love being able to add to these properties that people are just really into and really digging and give sort of like an added value to what they've already seen, and I've done a lot of licensed books before this, so this sort of feels a little bit old hat to me, but you know, in the right way," she says. "I feel like I have a good grasp on how to bring new things into the story without disrupting future plans."

And future plans are incredibly important. After all, as previously noted, Stranger Things Season 3 is currently in production. Whatever she writes has to fit within the framework that the Duffer brothers are building for the Netflix series. Luckily, she's been able to consult with the duo to make sure her comics fit within the overall story being told. "It's very much getting guidance from the people who best know the world and making sure that what you're doing fits everything that they're trying to do," she explains.

In the end, this Stranger Things comic should give you a much better understanding of a Season 1 character that didn't get much time to shine. As for whether you'll find out what about him the Upside Down is drawn too, though, Houser says, "Maybe. You'll have to read and see."

The first issue of Dark Horse's Stranger Things comic book releases on September 26.

Pokemon Go: Last Chance To Catch Registeel

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 10:33 pm

If you still haven't captured Registeel in Pokemon Go, you only have a few more days to do so. The Legendary Steel-type Pokemon is scheduled to leave Raid Battles later this week, on August 16, making this your last opportunity to add one to your collection for the foreseeable future.

Like Regice (which appeared in Raid Battles earlier this summer), Registeel is one of the three Legendary titans introduced in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire for Game Boy Advance. To catch it in Pokemon Go, you'll first need to team up with other players at a Gym where a Registeel Raid Battle is taking place and challenge the Legendary; if you manage to defeat it, then you'll be rewarded with a chance to capture it.

All three of the Legendary titans boast high defensive stats, making them formidable opponents in battle. As a Steel-type, Registeel is particularly susceptible to Fire, Fighting, and Ground Pokemon, so you'll want to bring along Charizard, Blaziken, Machamp, and other such powerful monsters to stand the best chance at defeating the Legendary.

No Caption Provided

While Registeel may not be around for much longer, the third and final Legendary titan, Regirock, is set to debut in Pokemon Go soon. Niantic has yet to announce when the Legendary Rock-type will begin appearing in Raid Battles, but it will presumably arrive later this week just as Registeel is departing.

Raid Battles are the most common way to encounter Legendaries in Pokemon Go, but they aren't the only way to capture the powerful Pokemon. Niantic occasionally brings previous Legendary Pokemon back for a limited time as part of an in-game event, as was the case with Zapdos last month. Players can also encounter certain Legendary Pokemon by completing Field Research tasks; the latest set of Field Research, for instance, leads to another encounter with Raikou.

Players also only have a few more days to take advantage of Pokemon Go's ongoing trading event. Until 9 PM PT on August 19 (12 AM ET on August 20), all Pokemon trades will cost 25% less Stardust than normal. You'll also be able to earn more Candy than before--up to six Candies during every trade--and any Pokemon you receive that weren't previously registered in your Pokedex will net triple the usual amount of XP.

Undertale Collector's Edition Announced For Nintendo Switch

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 10:22 pm

The indie RPG Undertale is getting physical copies on Nintendo Switch, including a hefty collector's edition loaded with goodies for fans. An Eshop release is also planned for release in September, and Fangamer is putting Undertale merchandise on sale throughout August in the lead-up to launch.

An Undertale standard physical edition for Switch will be $29 and come with a 24-page story booklet. It will be sold online through Fangamer and at Best Buy retail stores. A separate collector's edition will be $69 and available only through the Fangamer site. That one includes the game and art booklet, along with a 14k gold-plated brass music box locket, a 2-disc soundtrack CD, a booklet of Undertale sheet music, and a collector's box with slipcase.

Undertale offers a twist on standard RPG tropes by allowing you to defeat monsters through non-violent means. This collector's edition is similar to one released last year for PS4. A Switch port was announced during a Nintendo Direct earlier this year.

In GameSpot's Undertale review, Tyler Hicks wrote, "it's one of the most progressive and innovative RPGs to come in a long time, breaking down tradition for the sake of invention, with great success."

WWE's Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart Passes Away At 63

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 09:38 pm

The powerhouse of the wrestling stable The Hart Foundation in the '80s and '90s of WWE, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart has passed away at the age of 63. The wrestler first began his career with Stampede Wrestling and made a name for himself working with his brother-in-law Bret Hart, including winning the tag team championships.

WWE shared word of the superstar's passing early on August 13, which was first revealed by friend Brian Blair on Twitter. "So sad to announce the passing of my friend and longtime colleague, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart," Blair wrote. "Your thoughts and prayers for the family are deeply appreciated!"

Before WWE, Neidhart played for the Dallas Cowboys, but after his release, he went to Calgary, Alberta to train as a wrestler with legendary trainer Stu Hart. During this time, Neidhart got the nickname "The Anvil," after winning an anvil toss contest at a Calgary rodeo.

In the mid-'80s, Stu Hart sold Stampede to WWE, and both Neidhart and Bret Hart were part of the deal. The two made their debut in 1985 and won the WWF World Tag Team Championship in 1987. Bret and Neidhart were close, and Bret recently posted on his Facebook page, "Stunned and saddened. I just don't have the words right now."

Neidhart later teamed with Owen Hart during a memorable run, but ultimately left WWE in 1997 after the infamous Montreal Screwjob. He returned to WWE in 2007 for one Battle Royal match and has appeared numerous times on the E! reality series Total Divas, where his daughter WWE superstar Natalya is one of the featured members of the cast.

Fallout 76 Has Microtransactions, But Perk Cards Can't Be Bought With Real Money

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 09:17 pm

Fallout 76 brings back the franchise's Perk system, but this time the Perks will be acquired and represented through "Perk Cards." Immediately after this was announced at QuakeCon, fans began to wonder if they would be able to purchase these card packs with real money.

Bethesda has now confirmed that Perks Card Packs can only be acquired through gameplay. A tweet from the Fallout account explains that Perk Card Packs are earned "solely" by levelling up, which may put some fans' minds at ease about the matter. Bethesda's Pete Hines also commented, saying to a fan, "You just get them when you level up."

For lots and lots more on Fallout 76's Perks system, check out GameSpot's in-depth coverage here and in the video embedded above. In short, Perks are back but in a new way.

While you can't buy Fallout 76's Perk Card Packs with real money, the game will have a microtransaction store where you can buy cosmetic items, according to the NoClip documentary about the game. However, pricing and other key details are under wraps.

Fallout 76--which unlike past games is an online multiplayer game--launches for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on November 14. The Fallout 76 beta will be available on Xbox One first, followed by other platforms. For more on Fallout 76, check out GameSpot's recent news stories below.

The Meg Defies Box Office Predictions And Scores Huge Opening Weekend

By Anonymous on Aug 13, 2018 08:58 pm

As we reported last week, August is often one of the quietest months at the box office, with the big Hollywood blockbusters already released and the more prestigious awards-oriented movies still a couple of months away. As late as the middle of last week, it looked like this would be the case for August 2018, with the month's biggest new release--the shark thriller The Meg-- only predicted to pull in around $20 million over its first three days.

However, in one of the biggest box office surprises of the year, The Meg has powered its way to an estimated $44 million opening weekend, more than double what industry experts predicted. The results ensure that the Jason Statham-starring film took the No.1 slot on the box office chart, and sets it well on the way to recouping its reported $130 million production budget. The movie, which is a Chinese co-production, also made $96.8 million internationally in its first three days.

The week's other new releases were the horror movie Slender Man, and Spike Lee's comedy drama BlacKkKLansman. Slender Man has been met with some terrible reviews, but entered the chart at No.4 with an estimated $11 million, which was, again, more than double the estimate. BlacKkKLansman, conversely, has received rave reviews but was released on far fewer screens, and enjoyed a decent $10.8 million opening weekend to enter at No.5.

Elsewhere, the hugely successful Mission Impossible: Fallout and the family sequel Christopher Robin slipped to No.2 and 3 respectively. The bottom half of the chart consisted mostly of titles that have stuck around for a few weeks, including Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

You can see the full Top 10 list for the August 10-12 US box office below, as compiled by Box Office Mojo.
