WWE 2K18: Who's Missing From This Year's Roster?

By Mat Elfring on Sep 08, 2017 11:12 pm

WWE 2K18's full roster has been revealed, and many fans of WWE have noted some marquee names missing from the October game. However, with DLC yet to be announced, there is still a chance fan-favorite stars will make their way on the roster. We picked out some wrestlers we'd love to see onto this year's roster and the chances they'll be released as DLC, starting off with current Raw and Smackdown talent.

Click here to jump ahead to 205 Live and NXT talent.

Click here to jump ahead to Legends.

You can check out the entire confirmed WWE 2K18 roster here, to see who made the cut.

The Hardy Boyz (Raw)

The biggest omission to this year's roster are the Hardy Boyz. The tag team, which got their start during the Attitude Era, has made some giant waves since returning at 2017's Wrestlemania, deleting their competition.

Could they be added as DLC? Without a doubt, we will get Matt and Jeff as DLC. Passing them up would be insane. The two came back to WWE early enough that they could have been scanned for the game, and there may be some other reason for Team Extreme to not be included with the initial game--maybe something do their characters being broken? In addition, it would be great if we could get Universe and Attitude Eras versions for the characters, since their looks have changed a bit in the past 20 years.

Elias Samson (Raw)

Please keep your cell phones down and hold your applause until after I'm finished. So who wants to walk with Elias? Well, you can't in WWE 2K18. The center-stage crooner is not available, even though he was in NXT for years with the same gimmick before coming to Raw.

Could he be added as DLC? It's more than likely we'll get to see Samson added as DLC, probably as part of a Raw/Smackdown package, alongside the Hardy Boyz. If 2K Games really wants to make things interesting, they could add an "El Vagabundo" version of the character as well.

James Ellsworth (Smackdown)

While James Ellsworth has been Carmella's manager/secondary mouthpiece for the past few months, he did compete in a few matches, including winning the first ever Women's Money in the Bank match--kidding. Considering how much screentime Ellsworth gets on Smackdown, week after week, it's puzzling not to see him included this year.

Could he be added as DLC? As unlikely as it may be for Ellsworth to be a WWE star, he will more than likely be included as either DLC or a manager--personally, I'd like to recreate his first match against Braun Strowman, over and over again.

The Singh Brothers (Smackdown)

The former Bollywood Boys teamed up with Jinder Mahal, after a fun stint during 2016's Cruiserweight Classic, back in April of this year. While the two haven't had a lot of matches in the past five months, they are a big part of the Tuesday night show.

Could they be added as DLC? Their inclusion in this year's game as DLC is more than likely, considering that they debuted during the spring and have been a part of the main card for months, even if they are just walking the champion to the ring.

Lana (Smackdown)

Lana's solo wrestling career got kicked up a notch this year as she lost time and time again to Smackdown Women's Champion Naomi. While she appeared in WWE 2K17 as a manager, we were thinking this would be her first year where she was included as a wrestler.

Could she be added as DLC? Lana may be included in this year's edition if there's a Raw/Smackdown DLC pack. The only problematic thing is that her solo run started this past June, which may have been past the cutoff point to make her into a playable character.

Maria and Mike Kanellis (Smackdown)

There's no one else on Smackdown who harnesses the power of love like Maria and Mike Kanellis. Since Maria's return to the WWE this past summer, she's been involved with her real-life husband Mike Bennett--who took her surname after their marriage--and the two have been a very entertaining part of the midcard on Smackdown.

Could they be added as DLC? Much like Lana, the two debuted over the summer; however, unlike Lana, Maria and Mike weren't part of the roster prior to that, so the chances of the two being scanned for the game are pretty slim.

Shelton Benjamin (Smackdown)

Shelton Benjamin returned to the WWE this year, after being released in 2010. Currently, he has teamed up with Chad Gable on Smackdown. Benjamin originally signed with WWE back in July 2016 but was sidelined for a year because of an injury.

Could he be added as DLC? This is a tough one, since while he was injured, Benjamin was not signed with WWE. He re-signed with the company last month, so while he'd be a great addition to WWE 2K18, the timing for him to be in it is off.

Mustafa Ali (205 Live)

2K18 introduces the cruiserweight division from 205 Live, and while there is already a good amount of talent to choose from, we think there will be even more added later as DLC. One of the most entertaining--and underrated--wrestlers in the division is Mustafi Ali, who has shown up on Raw a few times.

Could he be added as DLC? If there is a 205 Live DLC pack, Ali will be a part of it. Frankly, it's a little surprising Gran Metalik got picked over a few of the other cruiserweights.

Tony Nese (205 Live)

While many of the stars of 205 Live are high-flyers, Tony Nese is a powerhouse, which adds a great dynamic to the division. While Nese wasn't included for the main roster, he had a good sense of humor about it, tweeting, "Sorry folks, they haven't created a game engine powerful enough to render a body like mine yet."

Could he be added as DLC? Like Ali, Nese is a shoe-in for a 205 Live DLC pack, if that happens.

Drew McIntyre (NXT)

Next to the Hardy Boyz, one of the biggest omissions in 2K18 is NXT Champion Drew McIntyre. It's important to note that he very recently won the title from Bobby Roode, so he's not a long-standing champion. The former 3MB member returned to WWE back in April. The last time McIntyre appeared in a WWE game was for WWE 2K14.

Could he be added as DLC? Much like the Hardy Boyz, McIntyre will have to be part of DLC because it would be crazy not to include him, seeing as he's the champ, and he should be around for a while. In addition, there's a part of me that would love to also have a 3MB skin for him, to reunite him with Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater again.

Aleister Black (NXT)

Aleister Black is quickly becoming one of the highlights of watching NXT, which is already filled with a ton of amazing talent. After the main roster was revealed, many fans felt leaving out Black was a bad move. Who doesn't want to play as Black, even if only to watch his entrance over and over again?

Could he be added as DLC? Depending on how 2K handles the DLC for the new game, Black should be in the game. He's a rising star in the company, and there is a demand to play as him.

Ruby Riot (NXT)

The women of NXT got a lot of love this year, with Asuka, Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce, and Billie Kay making the cut., However, Ruby Riot was absent, even though she signed with WWE back in January and has been a big part of the women's division.

Could she be added for DLC? NXT has a lot of great talent, and while I'd love to see Ruby Riot make her way into the game, it's a 50/50 call, unless 2K is looking to add more female NXT stars to the roster.

The Velveteen Dream (NXT)

The Velveteen Dream is what happens when the musician Prince becomes a wrestler, in the best way possible. This character made his captivating debut this past spring, and he's one of the more entertaining gimmicks currently running on NXT.

Could he be added for DLC? Sure, there are other NXT stars, like Andrade Almas, who should be included over Dream, but there's nothing more fun than playing as a wrestler with a wacky gimmick. It's a long-shot, but Dream has a lot of playability.

Pete Dunne

Drew McIntyre wasn't the only champion left of the roster for 2K18. United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne also wasn't included for this year's game. While we don't see a lot of him on TV, WWE made a big deal about this new title and the UK Championship Tournament in the past year.

Could he be added for DLC? Even though the majority of casual WWE fans aren't aware of this title nor Pete Dunne, he should still be included in the game. Like the Hardys and McIntyre, Dunne's inclusion in 2K18 is more than likely.

Jerry Lawler (Legend)

Jerry "The King" Lawler has been a part of WWE since the '90s, and prior to that, he was a wrestling legend, so why does he get skipped over, year after year? Sure, Lawler does voice the commentary team for the games, but he hasn't appeared as a playable character since WWE '12.

Could he be added for DLC? WWE 2K17's DLC contained a Hall of Fame Showcase, which consisted of some classic matches with unlockable arenas and wrestlers. If 2K is bringing this back again, there is a chance Lawler could be included or at least we hope so. How awesome would it be if we could get to play as Lawler against comedian Andy Kaufman to recreate their feud from the early '80s? That's a bit of a stretch, but considering this series has included two versions of the Terminator, the Lawler/Kaufman match is a whole lot more plausible.

New Age Outlaws (Legend)

Oh, you didn't know that Jesse James and Billy Gunn weren't part of the roster this year? You better call somebody. When you think about WWE and the Attitude Era, you can't have a conversation about tag teams without bringing up the New Age Outlaws. However, neither of them appeared in this year's game, which is confusing because they've been a big part of the series.

Could he be added for DLC? Things get a little tricky here. If they're included in the new game, it's just repackaged characters from the year prior, which you have to pay extra for, and that's just totally bogus. It's a double-edged sword. Either we don't get them, or we have to pay for something that was in a previous game.

Vince McMahon (Legend)

In a really weird turn of events, Vince McMahon was not included in this year's edition. The man in charge of the company usually has a spot on the roster, so you can relive every moment Steve Austin beat him up, but in 2K18, he's mysteriously missing. Now, where are fans going to get their overconfident strut fix from?

Could he be added for DLC? There is no way McMahon won't be included in one of the DLC packs. Putting aside the onscreen ego of the head of WWE, he was a major player during the Attitude Era, and leaving him out, whether you like him or not, is a big mistake. Most likely, he'll be part of the Hall of Fame showcase, if 2K does that again this year. The only downside is you'd be paying extra for a character that existed in previous games.

William Regal (Legend)

William Regal is a man, such a man. He's a real man's man. Aside from Regal being a legend in both WCW and WWE, he is currently the NXT general manager. Considering the Raw and Smackdown GMs are playable characters in the game, shouldn't the NXT GM be one as well?

Could he be added for DLC? If NXT gets its own DLC pack--which it should--Regal without a doubt will be included. The only downside is that he's appeared in previous games, so fans will be paying for content that they've had before. This would be the perfect opportunity to give fans "Real Man's Man" Regal as a secondary skin.

The Dudley Boys (Legend)

The Dudleys had a fantastic return to WWE last year, but the tag team has now retired, with Bubba heading to Ring of Honor and D-Von running a wrestling school. Like Edge and Christian and the Hardys, the Dudleys were a staple for the Attitude Era. They may no longer be with the company, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be in the game, since they were a part of it last year.

Could he be added for DLC? This is a tricky one, since Bubba is still wrestling for another company. That hasn't stopped 2K from putting other wrestlers into the game in the past, but WWE tends to shy away from that. Hopefully, if and when the Hardys are included, the Dudleys will be added as well.

Owen Hart (Legend)

Owen Hart was a fantastic worker in the ring and was a really entertaining mid-carder who proved he wasn't a nugget. He has never appeared in 2K's series, and he's one of the most demanded wrestlers, year after year. Fans would love to relive his tag team days with his brother Bret or even his time with the Nation of Domination.

Could he be added for DLC? WWE fans love Owen Hart, and we'd love to see him in a new game and in the Hall of Fame. However, because of Hart's death during a live WWE event, his widow understandably wants nothing to do with the company and doesn't want him appearing in anything that has WWE on it.

Hulk Hogan (Legend)

During the '80s and '90s, Hulk Hogan was wrestling. You may have not watched during that time, but you knew his name because he was everywhere. He has been in the 2K series previously, but he's been absent the past couple of years, for good reason.

Could he be added for DLC? After a tape with the Hulkster saying some pretty nasty and racist things, WWE removed Hulkamania from its website and cut all ties with the Hulkster. Essentially, Hogan is dead to WWE. Until the two can work it out, chances are non-existent, brother.

Let us know in the comment section below which wrestlers you'd love to see in this year's game that didn't make the roster.

The Coolest And Craziest PC Mods

By Jimmy Thang on Sep 08, 2017 08:30 pm

Awesome Build Vol. 2

Modder:la PCJunkie Mods and Blue Horse Studios

What makes it cool: It's a Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired PC. The heavily modified Corsair Crystal Series 460X even features a real, functioning 1970's cassette player. The icing on the cake is the fact that the two LED buttons Groot is looking at are the computer's power and reset switches. Asus has created a Make A Wish page for the build, which allows people to donate money to the foundation to get a chance to win the rig.

Aliens

Modder: Ron Lee Christianson of Blue Horse Studios

What makes it cool: This mod pays tribute to the Alien films. Ron Lee Christianson actually combined a Cooler Master HAF X case with a Cooler Master 915 chassis for the build. The Facehugger inside makes this the creepiest mod we've ever seen.

Point Blank Barrett Radeon RX 480

Modder: Suchao Modding & Design

What makes it cool: Yes, this is a PC that looks like a gun. You can see the Mini-ITX motherboard in the middle of the chassis. The radiator in the front acts as the rifle's "magazine." The red water-cooled tubes surrounding the gun is a really nice aesthetic touch.

Forklift UD Gigabyte

Modder: Suchao Modding & Design

What makes it cool: Suchao is definitely one of the more out-of-the-box modders here. As the name suggests, this Gigabyte motherboard is encased in a forklift-like chassis. Its water-cooling pipes act as a tiny chair, and the water-cooling reservoir on the back resembles a fuel tank.

Back to the Mod

Modder: Marc Molella and Bob Stewart ofBSMods

What makes it cool: Marc Molella and Bob Stewart worked together to create this Delorean-themed mod to pay tribute to the Back to the Future movies. Molella used brushed stainless steel on Cooler Master's HAF 922 chassis to match the color of the car. Stewart helped create the flux capacitor inside the case by using spark plug wires and a custom LED strip. And, yes, the doors do lift up.

Lancer Unleashed

Modder: Ali Abbas

What makes it cool: The Lancer Unleashed features a functioning chainsaw that's modeled after the famed Gears of War weapon. Ali Abbas used a bike chain with a 12 volt motor, and the mod has a battery pack so you can pick it up for a spin. The motherboard is situated within the "magazine" portion of the gun, and it's locked and loaded with a GeForce GTX 1060 GPU.

TPS-L2

Modder: The Blass Brothers of Babetech

What makes it cool: The Blass Brothers built this giant Sony Walkman mod to pay tribute to the Guardians of the Galaxy films. The metalwork was done by hand, but many of the other accessories were 3D printed. It also has a built-in functioning MP3 player with components from a Logitech X230 sound system that plays songs from the original movie.

Shiny

Medieval

Modder: BS Mods

What makes it cool: BS Mods did a lot of machine work on this In Win case to give it a medieval vibe. It's most distinguishing feature is the sword on the side, which comes with functional USB and audio ports on the side. There's also a power button at the end of the sword's hilt.

AR-45

Modder: Suchao Modding & Design

What makes it cool: Thai modder Suchao constructed this crazy case for Gigabyte. The middle section houses the motherboard on one side and the GPU on the other. The top and bottom sections feature radiators with RGB fans.

Cutting Edge

Modder: Johan Nyman

What makes it cool: Modder Johan Nyman modded Corsair's Spec-Alpha case to evoke a Mirror's Edge Catalyst theme. It features the same red, white, and black motif from the game and has the Mirror's Edge name and logo etched onto its panels.

Rey's Speeder

Modder: Brian Carter of Bods Mods

What makes it cool: Brian Carter designed this mod using his 3D printer and modeled it after Rey's speeder bike from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Like Rey's vehicle, it even has a bag for loose scraps dangling on the side.

Verktøy Cu

Modder: Derick Magnusen and Senpai Studios

What makes it cool: Modder Derick Magnusen took CaseLabs' massive S8 chassis and added a bunch of copper, leather, and brass to give it a steampunk look. It's equipped with four GTX Titan XPs and is named Verktøy Cu, which loosely translates to "copper work tool" in Norwegian.

Batman

Modder: Xing Kai

What makes it cool: This case prominently features Nvidia's GTX 1080 at the front of a futuristic-looking chassis that's spreading its wings. It looks like something Batman would use.

Bulldog GTO

Modder: Lee Harrington of PCJunkieMods

What makes it cool: Modder Lee Harrington took Corsair's Bulldog chassis and modified it to look like a late 1960's Pontiac GTO. The classic car it's modeled after is a hot rod, so this case has appropriate flames to match.

Tank PC

Modder: Kensuke Morita

What makes it cool: Kensuke Morita's PC is built like a tank...literally. It even has LED fans at the base that act as the vehicle's caterpillar tracks.

The WinBot Project

Modder: Kun Mod Studios

What makes it cool: Kun Mod Studios used InWin's spherical Winbot chassis and added a custom loop cooler to it. It looks a lot like Tom Cruise's Bubbleship in the 2013 sci-fi movie Oblivion.

FrostByte

Modder: Jon Hansz

What makes it cool: An ice dragon dwells within this mod designed by Jon Hansz. You can see its tail and scales on top of the case, its body dangling from the side, and its heading protruding through the front. Finally, it has blue LED fans inside, which accentuate the mod's icy theme.

Nissan GT-R R35

Modder: Kensuke Morita

What makes it cool: Japanese modder Kensuke Morita designed a Nissan GT-R R35-inspired PC using parts from an RC car.

The Andromeda Initiative

Modder: Jon Hansz and Ron Lee Christianson of Rip City Modders

What makes it cool: Jon Hansz and Ron Lee Christianson constructed this mod to celebrate the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda. It uses a heavily modified Corsair 240 Air case. The most notable addition is the soldier clad in space armor on the side. And in case you were wondering, yes, you can take the helmet off.

H-Tower Nvidia Edition

Modder: Wei Zheng

What makes it cool: Chinese modder Wei Zheng created a PC mod for Nvidia using In Win's H-Tower case. The crazy chassis opens and closes with a press of a button. Zheng painted the innards green, used green ribbon cables, and prominently displayed Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1080 GPU inside.

Titanfall 2 Ion 509

Modder: Lee Harrington of PC Junkie Mods and Ron Lee Christianson of Blue Horse Studios

What makes it cool: Lee Harrington of PC Junkie Mods and Ron Lee Christianson of Blue Horse Studios built this mod to commemorate the launch of Titanfall 2. At its core, it uses In Win's 509 chassis, but Harrington and Christianson added a ton of modifications, which include an LCD panel at the bottom. They also added architectural layers to the front of the case to recreate Ion's singular robotic eye.

SkyVue

Modder: Jeffrey Stephenson

What makes it cool: If this mod reminds you of the Empire State Building it's because it was designed to look like the Art Deco skyscrapers of the 1930s. Retired high school Chemistry teacher Jeffrey Stephenson built it using Thermaltake's Level 10 PC case.

Gigantea

Modder: David "Insolent Gnome" Cathey

What makes it cool: David "Insolent Gnome" Cathey's Gigantea is the centipede of mods. It combines three Mini-ITX Cooler Master Elite 130 cases coupled with acrylic panels to give it a large robotic arthropod look.

World of Tanks Diorama

Yoda

Modder: Jon "Pennywise" Hansz

What makes it cool: Consider this a tribute to Yoda. Modder Jon "Pennywise" Hansz sculpted him from clay and added a bunch of green accents, tubing, and cables on the inside of the PC to pay homage to the Jedi master. The rest of the chassis has Stormtroopers painted on it.

Vault 111 Decontamination Pod

Modder: Dewayne Carel of Modders Inc.

What makes it cool: Dewayne Carel used a Phanteks Enthoo Pro case to recreate the freezing chamber from Fallout 4. It even has a gas canister hanging on one side.

Wasted Lightning

Modder: Craig "TechDaddy" Tate of Modders Inc.

What makes it cool: Modder Craig "TechDaddy" Tate wanted to create a Fallout mod that looked like it had been damaged and weathered by the wasteland. He used a Scotchbrite pad to scuff up the paint on a Fractal Arc Midi R2 case and used shades of brown and red paint to recreate the rusty look. Tate also used a hammer, mallet, and heat gun to give it a damaged look. Finally, the large Fallout 4 lightning bolt at the front ties the piece together.

Fallout

Modder: Dewayne Carel

What makes it cool: Dewayne Carel's Fallout mod doesn't simply pay tribute to the gaming series, but he wanted it to look like a computer you'd actually encounter in the Wasteland. It has a side window, which makes it look like a terminal you can hack in the game, and it actually uses code taken from Fallout 4. Carel used Thermaltake's Urban S41 case and used a lot of spray paint and hair spray to give it a rusted and worn look. Finally, if you look up at the top, you'll see a Pip-Boy.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Evolvs

Modder: Lee Harrington of PCJunkieMods and Ron Lee Christianson of Blue Horse Studios

What makes it cool: Lee Harrington and Ron Lee Christianson worked together and modded three Phanteks Enthoo Evolv cases to evoke a Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain theme. The chassis comes with a tactical harness, ammo pouch, and knife on the side. The three different camo getups are inspired by uniforms in the game.

Heroes of the Storm Mashup

Modder: Xing Kai

What makes it cool: Chinese modder Xing Kai is a huge Blizzard fan and says that StarCraft and Diablo were some of the biggest influences in his life, so he decided to build this Heroes of the Storm-themed mod. The design uses two Corsair cases, which is a 780T ATX tower coupled with a 380T Mini-ITX case. He used metal for the StarCraft section of the build and wood for the Warcraft parts. The top of the case features a Terran Marine and the front of the case features orcs.

Assassin's Creed

Modder: PCJunkieMods and Blue Horse Studio

What makes it cool: PCJunkieMods and Blue Horse Studio collaborated for three weeks to make an Assassin's Creed-themed mod. Using Corsair's Carbide 300R case, they used wood grain panels to make it look like a pirate's treasure box. They sculpted the lock, skulls, and ornaments out of clay.

Parvum Warfare

Modder: James Walter

What makes it cool: James Walter was inspired to craft a Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare mod after he saw Microsoft reveal its Advanced Warfare Xbox controller. He used a Parvum System case and modeled the aesthetics after the controller.

Fallout Vault-Tec

Modder: Bob Stewart, Rod Rosenberg, and Brian Carter of Mod Dudes

What makes it cool: The Mod Dudes collaborated to make a Fallout case that was designed to look like it was made by the Vault-Tec Corporation. They took three weeks to paint Rustoleum light yellow on a Corsair Graphite 780T case. The Mod Dudes used diamond plate panels on the front and small iron rails as feet for the chassis on the bottom. The coolest part of the case is the gear-shaped cut-out they did on the side panel with its custom-made hinge.

The Hitman

Modder: Jojoharalds

What makes it cool: Icelandic modder Jojoharalds used Fractal Design's Define S case to construct a mod with a suit, white dress shirt, and red tie that's inspired by Agent 47's attire. Hitman is Jojoharalds' favorite game.

Lamborghini Reventon

Modder: Paul Tan

What makes it cool: Modder Paul Tan modded Silverstone's Raven RV01 case to evoke the look of a silver Lamborghini Reventon sports car. It even has functional headlights.

Tristellar Mod

Modder: Bill Owen

What makes it cool: Bill Owen took Deepcool's crazy Tristellar case and gave it a futuristic sci-fi sheen.

15 Nintendo Switch Games We Want Ported From Last-Generation

By GameSpot Staff on Sep 08, 2017 03:26 am

Developer Rockstar recently announced that it's going support to Nintendo Switch. However, the title it announced is probably not one you were expecting: LA Noire. While the crime-solving adventure is an interesting addition, it got us thinking about the games from (mostly) last generation we'd really like to play on Nintendo Switch.

Nintendo's hybrid hardware is more powerful than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, so there's a whole world of content to explore; it just requires developers and publishers willing to port that content over. You can read our previous list of Wii U games we want to see come to Nintendo Switch, but this will be our wishlist of last-generation non-Nintendo games that would be a perfect fit for Nintendo Switch.

These don't need new features like motion-control or touchscreen maps; they're just great games that still hold up. Our list is in no way comprehensive, so if we left off something you'd want to see yourself, let us know in the comments below!

Red Dead Redemption

LA Noire's not a bad game, but if Rockstar wanted to bring a game to Switch, the more obvious choice is Red Dead Redemption. With a sequel on the way in 2018, now is a great time to experience the sprawling story of John Marston. And a game like Red Dead would also add some more adult content to the Switch's lineup; while the likes of Mario + Rabbids and Splatoon are great fun, it's time that Nintendo's console started adding some games that go above a "teen" rating. -- Justin Haywald

Spelunky

Switch already has a nice selection of quick, pick-up-and-play roguelike games with Gonner and The Binding of Isaac, but few out there are better than Spelunky. Creator Derek Yu has already said that he would like to release a game on the platform. An original game from him would be wonderful to see, but in the meantime, Spelunky would help make the wait easier. Any system can always use more top-tier, expertly designed games, which is precisely what Spelunky is: an incredibly thoughtful, well-crafted game with far more depth than you'd realize at first blush. It could even support play with two Joy-Con controllers, which is always a nice bonus with any Switch multiplayer game. -- Chris Pereira

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

The Metal Gear series has enjoyed an on-again-off-again relationship with Nintendo, but with the series entering a new, zombified era, now may be the perfect time for the earlier games in the series to be resurrected for Nintendo's latest console.

Remaster masters Bluepoint Games (with a little help from Armature Studio) did an excellent job porting the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection to Vita, and even without the proper number of buttons, the games (Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker) all played great. In theory, the games would look and play even better on the more advanced Switch. -- Peter Brown

Persona 3 (and Persona 4)

Atlus has already said that Persona 5 isn't coming to Switch, but that won't stop us from wishing its super-stylish UI (and the great RPG that surrounds it) makes it to the platform eventually. The next best thing would be its two predecessors. There are tons of people who have only more recently become aware of the series thanks to the success of Persona 5. The Vita version of Persona 4 (and PSP version of Persona 3 before it) showcased how well these games play on handhelds, and having all three games playable on a modern platform where these new fans of the series could play them feels like a win for everyone. Some elements of Persona 3 and 4 may not compare favorably to those of Persona 5--particularly the dungeon design--but they nonetheless hold up well overall. Their excellent stories and characters make them well worth going back to if you missed them the first time around. -- Chris Pereira

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance

Bayonetta 2 was a bright spot during the Wii U's troubled tenure, delivering the over-the-top characters and combat that developer Platinum Games is known for. A few years ago, Platinum Games took a stab at applying its brand of action to Metal Gear's cybernetic ninja, Raiden, for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

The action-focused game at first seemed like an odd fit for a series that's traditionally encouraged stealth over conflict, but in the hands of Platinum, Raiden's solo outing was an utter blast. Revengeance also took the series into the future and currently stands as the last word in Metal Gear's timeline. Hideo Kojima may be done with Metal Gear, but I'm still holding out hope that Revengeance won't be a one-off, and that Platinum may eventually revisit one of its best projects. However unlikely a sequel may be, I'd happily take Revengeance for another spin on Switch. -- Peter Brown

Final Fantasy HD Anything

Around the dawning of the Final Fantasy franchise, Square Enix's biggest games were only available on Nintendo consoles. That trend changed with the PlayStation-exclusive Final Fantasy VII and continued for many years after. But recent Final Fantasy games have gone multiplatform, and many of the main entries have gotten PC releases. And while you could play most of the later Final Fantasy titles on the Vita through PSN, with its bigger screen, Nintendo's Switch is an even better portable console for tackling classics like Final Fantasys 7-12.

Since almost all of those classic era games are available on PC, it seems like there's at least the possibility that the recent PS3/PS4 ports of games like FFX and FFXII could find their way to Switch. -- Justin Haywald

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair

We've already gotten the first two Danganronpa games on non-Sony platforms, so it doesn't seem out of the question to expect a version on Switch as well. The system is somehow devoid of any visual novels, which are a perfect match with it: Being able to crawl into bed at night with the system is an ideal way to experience them--just like a book--but Switch would also provide the flexibility to throw the game on a TV for the big-screen experience or to enjoy it with a friend.

Aside from that, it would also complement the existing library--there just aren't a lot of dark, story-based games to be had on Switch right now. Both Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair have gotten a second lease on life with recent PS4 and PC releases (after previously being limited to PSP and Vita), and they're fantastically written adventures that more people need the opportunity to play. -- Chris Pereira

Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2

Ports of the first two Dark Souls games don't have the best technical track record, and developer From Software president (and Dark Souls creator) Hidetaka Miyazaki has said that he's more interested in looking forward to new things than repeating the past, but come on: let's see Dark Souls come to Switch! Can you imagine playing Dark Souls in portable mode? What if somehow decrepit versions of Ganon, Bowser, and Kraid found their way into the game, for that extra special Nintendo treatment? Chances are that our imaginations are the only place these theoretical games will ever appear, but it's natural to dream, even if that dream is filled with nightmarish beasts and punishing combat. -- Peter Brown

Dead Space, Dead Space 2, Dead Space 3

Dead Space is a series that made a huge splash when it arrived, and it continued to make waves with each new release. It's difficult to pinpoint why the series has been left dormant by EA for so long--Dead Space 3 was released four years ago--but even if we can't look forward to a new Dead Space game anytime soon, we can cross our fingers for the pre-existing games to come to Switch. Dead Space's weapons are just as distinct today as they were years ago, the Switch could benefit from a few games with a darker atmosphere, and there's been a big enough gap in time between now and the series' heyday to justify revisiting it, or potentially introducing it to a new audience altogether. -- Peter Brown

Hearthstone

Hearthstone has yet to appear on a proper console or handheld, but a Switch version makes a lot of sense. It could feature the same touchscreen controls of the iOS and Android versions when played in handheld mode. The growing slate of single-player content would provide something to do when the system is away from a Wi-Fi connection--in addition to playing local multiplayer matches with a fellow Switch owner, of course. And the co-op Brawl activities we've seen previously could be expanded into a full mode that can be played on one system with a pair of Joy-Cons. With Rocket League, Nintendo has shown a willingness to support Cross-Play on Switch, which is essential to Hearthstone. This all just makes too much sense to not happen. -- Chris Pereira

Grand Theft Auto V

If Grand Theft Auto V can run on PS3 and Xbox 360, you bet it can run on Switch. GTA V is arguably the best game in the iconic series and is just as fun to play today as it was when it came out in 2013. If Rockstar is willing to bring LA Noire to Switch, there's a solid chance we will see GTA V follow in its footsteps; though certainly not without a lot of work on the studio's part. -- Peter Brown

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Spanish studio Mercury Steam has had an interesting track record in recent years, having created new games for two classic series: Metroid, most recently, and Castlevania, a stint that lasted for three games. The first Castlevania: Lords of Shadow game was a shock to many longtime fans who had enjoyed years of 2D portable metroidvanias. Mercury Steam delivered a decidedly western take on the world and characters, offering a 3D action experience that felt more like controlling Kratos than a vampire-hunting Belmont.

Regardless of the comparisons to Castlevania's past, Lords of Shadow made a name for itself thanks to one of the series' best stories, awe-inspiring environments, epic boss battles, and a rousing orchestrated soundtrack. The second Lords of Shadow game didn't quite stand up to the first, so if we had to pick one to come to Switch, it would have to be the original. -- Peter Brown

Mass Effect Trilogy

Mass Effect finds itself in a weird place after Andromeda failed to meet many fans' expectations, but it's not as if people have suddenly fallen out of love with the idea of an epic space opera where you're a hero who saves the galaxy. Eventually, EA will come back with a new game in the series, and what better way to get people feeling better about Mass Effect than by giving them an excuse to replay the three original games on a new platform?

Even in lieu of a proper remaster, presenting the games on a hybrid system could help to make them feel fresh--it certainly would make it easier for the completionists out there to make it through the slog of the first game's Mako exploration sections. Years after their release, there's nothing quite like the expansive galaxy and interconnected story of the Mass Effect Trilogy--and certainly nothing like it on Switch. -- Chris Pereira

Nidhogg (2)

Nintendo touts the Switch as a platform for spur-of-the-moment multiplayer matches, and a game like Nidhogg is the digital embodiment of that idea. It'd be great to get Nidhogg 2 as well (or maybe a collection with both games together), but with its simple controls and art style, the original a game well-suited to the Switch's portable screen and tiny controllers when you're playing on the go.

And as a self-professed Nidhogg grand champion, I just want more opportunities to sacrifice avatars to the digital dragon that dwells at the far end of each game's map. -- Justin Haywald

Ultra Street Fighter IV

Capcom supported Switch early on with Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, though, as many fans decried, the game was very expensive at $40. Instead of porting a version of the most ubiquitous Street Fighter game there is, perhaps Capcom should have looked to Street Fighter IV, the popular fighting game that's still played today despite the arrival of Street Fighter V. Street Fighter V might be too advanced to fly on Switch without some serious tweaks, but Ultra Street Fighter IV is technically possible. There are some decent fighting games on Switch, but none that match Ultra Street Fighter IV's refined fighting system and massive roster of characters. -- Peter Brown
