A new batch of DLC vehicles for the upcoming Forza Motorsport 7 has been announced based on the latest Fast and Furious film, The Fate of the Furious. It's not a major surprise in light of past crossovers between the two franchises, but it should nonetheless be a fun DLC pack for fans of the film.
Microsoft today announced the Fate of the Furious Car Pack, which consists of 10 notable vehicles from this year's movie. These include the 1968 Dodge Charger, 2015 Jaguar F-Type, and 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline. You can see screenshots and a full list of vehicles (all of which are dubbed Fate of the Furious editions) below, as well as a trailer above.
1966 Chevrolet Corvette
1968 Dodge Charger
2015 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe
1971 Plymouth GTX
2016 Subaru WRX STI
2018 Dodge Demon
1951 Chevrolet Fleetline Special
2015 Mercedes-AMG GT S
2013 Subaru BRZ

This DLC pack will be available as a Day One car pack offered for free to those who buy Forza 7's Ultimate or Deluxe editions. Ultimate edition owners will get it on September 29 (thanks to the early access period available with that version of the game), while Deluxe owners get it on the game's regular release date of October 3. Anyone with the standard edition will be able to purchase the pack on its own for $10.
Destiny 2 players looking to get stuck into some shootin' and lootin' today may want to keep in mind that servers for Bungie's popular shooter will be going offline for maintenance. The downtime is scheduled to begin at 6 AM PT / 2 PM BST / 11 PM AEST on September 25, and players won't be able to sign in to the game from that point. " style="word-wrap: break-word;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;color: #6DC6DD;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;">Twitter that the maintenance period has been extended until 2 PM PT.]
An hour later, anyone that is already logged in to Destiny 2 will be kicked off, so plan your in-game activities accordingly; you don't want to get the boot while in a raid. Servers will undergo maintenance for a total of six hours.
The maintenance comes ahead of Faction Rallies being added to Destiny 2 on September 26. Following the weekly reset, players will be able to pledge themselves to Dead Orbit (represented by Arach Jalaal), Future War Cult (Lakshmi-2), and New Monarchy (Executor Hideo), and gather supplies for their chosen faction. You can learn more about Destiny 2's Faction Rallies here.
We're still digging deep into Destiny 2, but if you're new to the series there are some basic things you should know. You can check our Destiny 2 beginner's guide or our roundup of Destiny 2 guides, tips, and tricks for more information on how to hit the ground running.
Star Trek: Discovery premieres today and is the first Star Trek TV series since Enterprise's last voyage way back in May of 2005. Of course, there's years worth of Star Trek history beyond that, and Discovery leverages the iconography of the property as a whole in its opening sequence.
The beautiful, understated sequence lasts around a minute and half and shows everything from the ship, to the communicator, to the Vulcan salute coming to life as if they're schematics drawn and painted onto a paper. For fans of the iconic sci-fi property, it's a real treat to watch. Check it out.
Discovery stars a number of well-known talents including Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), James Frain (True Blood), Anthony Rapp (Dazed & Confused), and Doug Jones (Hellboy).
Star Trek: Discovery's first episode aired on CBS and CBS All Access streaming service, but all subsequent episodes will only air on the latter in the US. Elsewhere in the world, it will be available on Netflix. More details on how this works and how much you can expect to spend can be found in our how to watch Star Trek: Discovery feature, and you can check out our thoughts on whether Discovery feels like proper Star Trek. CBS also has a post-show called After Trek.
Full disclosure: CBS is GameSpot's parent company.
Capcom has announced another batch of DLC costumes for Street Fighter V. This selection goes on sale tomorrow, September 26, and consists of 13 outfits, including a range of Halloween and school-inspired costumes for Cammy, M. Bison, and many other characters.
To celebrate the arrival of fall and the back-to-school season, Capcom is releasing school uniforms for Cammy, Ed, and Street Fighter V's newest character, Menat. Cammy is also receiving an additional pair of outfits; the Doll's Costume is a callback to her days as M. Bison's bodyguard, while the Nostalgia Costume is based on her alternate outfit from Street Fighter IV.
Chun-Li is likewise receiving a trio of new costumes. The first is an undercover outfit, while the second and third are more leisurely beach and sleepwear. Rounding out the new batch of outfits are five Halloween-inspired costumes for Dhalsim, M. Bison, Urien, Birdie, and FANG, turning the characters into a demon, mummy, and other Halloween monsters.
Each of the aforementioned outfits retails for $4 each. Those who missed out on last year's Halloween costumes will also have another chance to pick them up; Capcom is bringing back 2016's Halloween skins in a bundle, which also includes the Spooky Arena stage.
In addition to the new DLC outfits, Capcom is releasing a new stage for Street Fighter V tomorrow: English Manor. The publisher describes it as a castle that "overlooks a sweeping landscape with the Northern Lights hovering up above." Players can purchase it for $4 or 70,000 in-game Fight Money.
Pokemon Gold and Silver are now available in the 3DS Eshop, and those who purchase either of the classic titles will receive a free gift: a code for the Mythical Pokemon Celebi, which you can redeem in either Pokemon Sun, Moon, or the upcoming Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. However, how you get your code may not be readily apparent, so we've outlined the steps you'll need to take to receive your Celebi.
To find your code, launch the 3DS Eshop and select the Settings/Other option from the main menu. From there, choose Account Activity and view your receipt for either Pokemon Gold or Silver, depending on which version you purchased. Your code can be found at the bottom of the receipt. Make a note of the code, then launch either Pokemon Sun or Moon (or Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, if you choose to wait for those versions to launch) and select the Mystery Gift option. Input your code, and you'll be able to pick your Celebi up from the deliveryman waiting inside any of the games' Pokemon Centers.
While Nintendo has given away Celebi for several previous Pokemon games, this marks the first time the Mythical Pokemon has been distributed for Sun and Moon. The Grass/Psychic-type comes at level 30 and knows the following moves:
Heal Bell
Safeguard
Ancient Power
Future Sight
All players who purchase either Pokemon Gold or Silver between September 22, 2017 and September 21, 2018 will receive a code for Celebi. You have until October 31, 2018 to redeem it.
Doughtery posted the following image on Twitter. It's hard to know what exactly we are looking at, and that's clearly some unfinished CG, but it's unmistakably Godzilla himself looking as fearsome as ever. Check it out below:
Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be the third movie in Legendary Pictures' MonsterVerse, following 2014's Godzilla and this year's Kong: Skull Island. A synopsis has been released, which states that the movie "follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species--thought to be mere myths--rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance."
Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Vera Farmiga, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Sally Hawkins, and Charles Dance, plus Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. It hits theaters on March 22, 2019.
In related news, the fourth MonsterVerse movie, Godzilla v Kong, is expected in 2020. Last month, director Adam Wingard explained that he hoped to match the monster mayhem with emotional drama. "It's a massive monster brawl movie," he said. "There's lots of monsters going crazy on each other, but at the end of the day I want there to be an emotional drive to it. I think that's what's going to make it cool."
"I really want you to take those characters seriously," Wingard continued. "I want you to be emotionally invested, not just in the human characters, but actually in the monsters. If I have my way, I want people to really be teary-eyed at the end of the movie, and be that invested in what's going on."
Nintendo has announced a slate of DLC for Fire Emblem Warriors. The hack-and-slash Switch and New 3DS game will receive three additional content packs following its release, which include new characters and weapons from different Fire Emblem titles.
The game's first DLC pack is scheduled to arrive this December and features content inspired by the series' most recent new installment, Fire Emblem Fates. DLC Pack 2 will follow in February 2018 and includes characters and items taken from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. The final DLC pack arrives a month later, in March 2018, and is themed after Fire Emblem Awakening.
Each of the three DLC packs retails individually for $9/£8.09. Nintendo will also offer a season pass that bundles all three together for a discounted $20/£18. Those who purchase the season pass will also receive a bonus bridal costume for Lucina, which you can see above.
In addition to its DLC plans, Nintendo has announced several new characters who'll be playable in Fire Emblem Warriors. During Tokyo Game Show, the company revealed three new heroes: Caeda and Tiki from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, and Celica from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Earlier this month, Nintendo announced that the fan-favorite hero Lyn from Fire Emblem for Game Boy Advance will also be playable in Warriors.
Fire Emblem Warriors releases in the US and Europe on October 20. Two new Amiibo figures of Chrom and Tiki will launch alongside the game. Warriors will also be compatible with the existing Fire Emblem Amiibo. Players can scan up to five figures in the game per day to unlock weapons or materials.
At the Experience With Arnold Schwarzenegger event in Birmingham, UK, the Austrian action icon was asked by audience members about the movie. As reported by Terminator Fans, he confirmed that it will have nothing to do with the last Terminator film, and that, not surprisingly, it won't just be titled Terminator 6. In addition, Schwarzenegger revealed that Hamilton had already started training for the role of Sarah Connor.
The next Terminator film will be directed by Deadpool's Tim Miller, with a story overseen by Cameron and Miller. Television-style writers' rooms are becoming increasingly popular on big franchise movies, and the new Terminator will follow this model. Writers who will work on the story include DC veteran David Goyer, Cameron's Dark Angel collaborator Charles Eglee, and Josh Friedman, who created the Terminator TV spinoff The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
There had been some confusion about whether a new Terminator would actually happen. Terminator: Genisys was originally intended to be the first part of a new trilogy, but its box office failure ended this plan. Subsequent reports suggested that Paramount had abandoned the idea of any more movies; however, Cameron's renewed involvement has now ensured that the series does have a future.

Looking for a deal? Microsoft has announced the latest set of weekly deals for Xbox Live, covering Xbox One and Xbox 360. This week's lineup is not all that extensive, though there are quite a few solid offers to be had.
Starting with Xbox One, games like the Battlefield 1 + Expansion Pass bundle ($42/£38.50/$63 AU), Far Cry 4 ($16 £9.60/$16 AU), Far Cry Primal ($20/£12/$24 AU), and Overwatch ($39/£30/$65 AU) are on sale. Additionally, quite a lot of Battlefield 1 DLC is on sale this week, including the military shooter's numerous shortcut kits.
Go to Major Nelson's blog to see the complete rundown of weekly deals for Xbox One and Xbox 360, some of which require a Gold membership. This week's deals are good through September 25.
Bungie will conduct another round of Destiny 2 maintenance next week, which means the game will be offline for a period of time. In its latest weekly blog post, Bungie said the server maintenance period for Update 1.0.3. " style="word-wrap: break-word;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;color: #6DC6DD;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;">Destiny 2 maintenance period is scheduled to begin this morning and will run until 12 PM PT.]
Starting at 6 AM PT on September 25, players won't be able to sign in. At 7 AM PT that day, everyone who is logged in to Destiny 2 will be kicked off. The maintenance period is scheduled to run until 12 PM PT, so all told, there will be interruptions for around six hours. That's if everything goes to plan; there is always a chance the maintenance period could wrap up sooner or, as was the case last time, take longer.
In other Destiny 2 news, Bungie today announced some key details about the new Faction Rallies event. They'll begin on September 26, and all three factions from the first game--Dead Orbit, Future War Cult, and New Monarchy--are back to challenge players to complete tasks to earn Faction Tokens. You can read more about Factional Rallies here.
Destiny 2 also recently had its latest weekly rest. You can check out GameSpot's guide here to find out what you need to know about what that means for the Nightfall, Raid, and Flashpoint.
One of the new features coming to Destiny 2 is what Bungie is calling "Guided Games." This is where a solo player can group up with a higher-level players to help learn the ropes of end-game activities such as Nightfalls and Raids. The Guided Games feature officially rolls out on September 26, but it's been available for testers for a little over a week now in beta form, and Bungie has now talked about how many people tested it out and what it learned from the beta.
Senior designer Steve Dolan said in the latest Bungie weekly blog post that more than 100,000 people have used the Guided Games feature to get through the Nightfall Strike, with a 90 percent completion rate. For Nightfalls, communication is important for the success of a team. Dolan pointed out in the blog that while players are not forced to join group chat, it is recommended. But even if you don't have a mic or don't want to use one, listening in on the battle chatter can help your team get through a mission easier.
Here are some other takeaways and key details that Dolan shared about Guided Games:
Finishing a Guided Game version of any activity will advance you through a milestone, even though the UI does not mention this.
If a Clan leading your Guided Game does a bad job, potentially on purpose, their Oathkeeper rating will fall. It is recommended that you look at the Oathkeeper score of a Clan before jumping into an activity.
Oathkeeper scores are given after completing four Guided Games. You can join a Guided Game for a Clan with a blank Oathkeeper score, but that could be a risk.
If all three players in a Nightfall agree to abandon their Guided Game, the Oathkeeper score won't be affected. This could be for a situation like you need to take an important phone call or have to run somewhere in real life. "Sometimes life happens," Bungie said.
When you match with a Clan for a Guided Games activity, you can decline joining that crew--for whatever reason--and you will stay at the front of the queue to find another.
Bungie reviews Clan names to ensure they don't included "objectionable" names, missions, statements, or mottos. Players can file a report about this if they come across something unsavoury, and doing so won't kick you out of the Guided Games queue.
Another week has passed, which means you're older, wiser, and that much closer to shuffling off this mortal coil. But if you're a Destiny 2 player, it also means the tentacle-faced vendor Xur is back in town, and he's got a few new Exotic items for you to purchase and parade around space.
As we learned last week, Xur now shows up on the map, which makes finding his location considerably easier than in the first Destiny. From September 22 to September 26, Xur will be kicking it on Titan, specifically The Rig. Take a look below to see his exact location and what he's selling.
The Wardcliff Coil (Exotic Rocket Launcher) -- 29 Legendary Shards
Foetracer (Exotic Hunter Class Helmet) -- 23 Legendary Shards
Sunbracers (Exotic Warlock Class Gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary Shards
Bungie will conduct a round of Destiny 2 maintenance in the coming week, which means the game will be offline for a period of time. Starting at 6 AM PT / 2 PM BST / 11 PM AEST on September 25, players won't be able to sign in. An hour later that day, everyone who is logged in to Destiny 2 will be kicked off. All told, there will be interruptions for around six hours.
We're still digging deep into Destiny 2, but there are some basic things you should know (and habits from the original Destiny you might need to break). You can check our Destiny 2 beginner's guide or our roundup of Destiny 2 guides, tips, and tricks for more information.
For the third week in a row, Activision Blizzard's Destiny 2 takes the No.1 spot on the UK sales chart. According to sales monitor Chart-Track, this makes 11 top spot placements for the publisher, between Destiny 2, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
In the week ending September 23, there were a couple of brand new entries in the top ten, with Bandai Namco's Project Cars 2 arriving at No.2 and Nintendo's Pokken Tournament DX for Switch at No.5. Grand Theft Auto V, a mainstay since its release, spends its 210th week on the chart at No.6.
The other big release for the week, Capcom's Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite makes its debut at No.12, missing out on a top 10 placement. You can read the full top 10 sales chart below, courtesy of Chart-Track. Note this table does not include digital sales data, and so should not be considered representative of all UK game sales.
Oculus founder Palmer Luckey, who left Oculus earlier this year, is staying in the virtual reality industry. Speaking at the Tokyo Game Show this week, Luckey confirmed his new venture but declined to share more details.
"I have a new company; I can't talk about my projects too much yet, but I'm still working in the virtual reality industry on some very exciting things," he said at an appearance at an HTC Vive event, as reported by RoadToVR.
He went on to say that he does not want to be seen "as an Oculus person," because his ambitions are grander than one company alone.
"Don't think of me as an Oculus person. Just think of me as a VR person," he said. "Everything. Sony, HTC, other companies. Everything."
In June, The New York Times reported that, among Luckey's start-up ideas, was technology that could be used for border-crossing security. The system apparently uses "light detecting and ranging" technology, along with infrared sensors.
From the report:
"Those familiar with the plan say Mr. Luckey believes his system, which can be mounted on telephone poles, can be built far more cost effectively than Mr. Trump's proposed wall on the Mexican border--and with fewer obstacles from landowners."
Earlier this year, Facebook was ordered to pay $500 million to Bethesda parent company ZeniMax as part of a lawsuit alleging that virtual reality technology it owns was stolen and used to develop the Oculus Rift. During the years-long process, ZeniMax specifically targeted Luckey, claiming that he "lacked the training, expertise, resources, or know-how to create commercially viable VR technology, his computer programming skills were rudimentary, and he relied on ZeniMax's computer program code and games to demonstrate the prototype Rift."
Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, one of the biggest and most popular games on planet Earth right now, continues to grow. The game has now crossed 1.5 million concurrent users on Steam. That's a few hundred thousand more than 1.29 million that DOTA 2--a free-to-play game--had at its own highest peak in March 2016. DOTA 2 and PUBG are apparently the only two games in Steam's history to pass 1 million peak concurrent players.
You can see more peak concurrent user figures for Steam games below, via analyst Daniel Ahmad. PUBG's sustained performance is pretty remarkable.
PUBG now over 1.5m PCCU on Steam.
The number of MAU's for the game is extremely high compared to total sales.
In other news about Battlegrounds, Playerunknown himself, Brendan Greene, said in a Reddit AMA that he would "love" to add a single-player campaign to PUBG. It hasn't happened yet and it might not soon because, understandably, developer Blue Hole is quite busy with continued support of the PC edition and the upcoming Xbox One version.
"I would love to add a single-player campaign to the game," he said. "I think the island we have could be a great location for an interesting story, but unfortunately we just don't have the time or the resources for this at the moment!"
Greene also shared an image of one of the three new vehicles coming to PUBG. It's a vehicle that looks like a Volkswagen Bus, so it should be pretty wonderful to see this beast zipping around the battlefield.
Earning Platinum Trophies in PlayStation games is a challenging and rewarding experience. Today, Sony announced a new Platinum-themed promotion, and the prize is an actual, real-world Platinum trophy--but it's extremely limited and only available in Australia.
The PlayStation Plus Platinum Hunters campaign challenges players to earn the Platinum trophy (which you do by completing all tasks in a particular game) in a specific game. You then have to take a screenshot and upload to Facebook or Twitter and tagging @PlayStationAU. You also have to use the #PlusPlatinumHunters hashtag.
Do all of that and you'll have a chance to win one of four Platinum trophies that Sony made for this campaign. The first game in the promotion is FIFA 18, which launches through early access on September 26. Other games in the program include Gran Turismo Sport (October 18), Call of Duty: WWII (November 3), and one more to be announced later.
You can see the full Terms & Conditions for the PlayStation Plus Platinum Hunters promotion here. Check out images of the trophy below and in the video above.

Star Trek is back. The first two episodes in the highly anticipated new Discovery series, "The Vulcan Hello" and "Battle at the Binary Stars," aired tonight and fans are excited. How did the critics enjoy the two-part premiere? We're collecting excerpts from reviews here to give you an idea for how the premiere was received at GameSpot and across the board.
Discovery's first episodes ran on CBS, but going forward, new episodes will be available only on the CBS All Access streaming service (and Netflix internationally). The service costs $6/month after a free trial. For lots more on how to watch, check out GameSpot's breakdown here.
Discovery takes place 10 years before the events of Captain Kirk's mission. Like the shows that came before it, Discovery is all about the missions of the Starfleet crew, but there are all new ships and characters. The show stars Jason Isaacs as the new Captain, Gabriel Lorca.
GameSpot:
"The history of Star Trek shows is long and varied in quality, and Star Trek: Discovery's two-part premiere, 'The Vulcan Hello' and 'Battle At The Binary Stars,' wasn't perfect. Luckily, it didn't have to be; it just needed to feel like Star Trek, and in that, it succeeded." -- Michael Rougeau " style="word-wrap: break-word;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;color: #6DC6DD;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;">Full review]
IGN
Star Trek: Discovery's debut is something of a shakedown cruise as the show works to find its rhythm. But it's also already a strong installment in the Trek pantheon, establishing a more modern approach to telling stories in what at this point is a 51-year-old franchise. With a polished production, a complex plot, and several compelling characters already introduced, Discovery is off to a good start in transforming Trek on TV for a new era." -- Scott Collura " style="word-wrap: break-word;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;color: #6DC6DD;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;">Full review]

"Trek has been off the air for a while, and the strategy of reviving the TV franchise via CBS All Access is not without risk. And within the world of the show, the Klingons' philosophy is dark--a new leader rises whose philosophy could be summed up as 'Make Kronos Great Again.' But the tenacious drive that Martin-Green brings to her character's quest to prove herself means no one should count out the Federation just yet." -- Maureen Ryan " style="word-wrap: break-word;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;color: #6DC6DD;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;">Full review]

"The first two episodes sell one show that doesn't feel like a regular series. The third episode sells a mostly different set of characters and a smaller and less impressive canvas, but it feels like a repeatable TV series. Spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery Season 1, Episode 1: "The Vulcan Hello," and Episode 2: "Battle At The Binary Stars," below
The history of Star Trek shows is long and varied in quality, and Star Trek: Discovery's two-part premiere, "The Vulcan Hello" and "Battle At The Binary Stars," wasn't perfect. Luckily, it didn't have to be; it just needed to feel like Star Trek, and in that, it succeeded.
Trekkies have been especially wary given J.J. Abrams' recent movies--whether or not they liked Star Trek, Star Trek: Into Darkness, and Star Trek: Beyond, many fans agree that the films just didn't feel like the real thing. They were big on action and set largely on earth (besides the third one), and generally light on the cerebral stuff Trek fans crave.
Discovery gets to have it both ways with a protagonist, Sonequa Martin-Green's Michael Burnham, who is fully human, but was raised on Vulcan (by Spock's father, Sarek, no less). The show's premiere did a great job portraying the struggle between her nature and her education--her emotional and logical sides--and when her human side wins out, the consequences are galactic in scale. In true Star Trek style, there's no easy solution or simple way out.
Even better is the fact that Discovery spent the bulk of its pilot episode planted firmly on the bridge of the USS Shenzhou. When Burnham, Doug Jones' Lt. Saru, and Michelle Yeoh's Captain Georgiou discover a mysterious artifact concealed at the far edges of space, the show revels in their dynamics and debates as they decide how to proceed. Saru holds self-preservation above all else, while Burnham is both overconfident and overly curious, despite her upbringing. This premiere put a lot of work into developing these characters, and that's going to pay off throughout the rest of Discovery's first season.
The Klingons, too, were adequately explored--arguably too much, as their subtitled snarls started to drag by the hour's end. But their prophet, T'Kuvma, got his own backstory, as an orphan who discovered his father's derelict ceremonial ship and took up his religious and political cause. And the Klingons didn't rally to him simply to fulfill some prophecy; he proved his prowess by showing off the technology to effectively cloak his ship. That's a valuable weapon, and it makes sense that the Klingons would follow his lead despite their reservations.
The biggest flaw in Star Trek: Discovery's Season 1 premiere came in its second half, "Battle At The Binary Stars," after Burnham broke out from the brig and her prediction that the Klingons would attack turned out right. The crew's plan to get a bomb onboard the Klingon ship was ingenious, but their follow-up was less so. I know it's Star Trek tradition for the captain to use any excuse to embark on dangerous field missions, but she and Burnham could have at least brought some Redshirts instead of assaulting the Klingon ship with no one but one another for backup. No wonder that turned out as poorly as it did.
Star Trek: Discovery's first two episodes set the Klingons and the Federation on a path toward all-out war. You can argue that's not a very Star Trek move--the series is at its best when its crews are exploring the galaxy, making contact with alien beings and destinations, living up to this incarnation's title, "Discovery." But if the rest of the season continues like the premiere, Discovery could be more concerned with the politics and ethical pickles present when two diametrically opposed peoples come to blows.
How do you reach an end to hostilities when your opponents consider "We come in peace" to be a threat? Discovery will hopefully spend more time on questions like that than on pew-pew space battles. Here's hoping so, at least.
Plus, I can't wait to see how Burnham gets out of her current jam; if Star Trek: Discovery keeps feeling like Star Trek, there's no way it's going to be easy.
A new trailer for trilogy-concluding Maze Runner film, The Death Cure, has arrived. In the third film, main character Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and his group are doing basically the opposite of what they originally intended: to break in to the Last City.
"To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all," reads a line from the film's official description. "Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze."
It's a pretty thrilling trailer, with plenty of action. It ends on an ominous note with Dylan O'Brien's character speaking to Patricia Clarkson's character about a decision that could mean everything.
The Death Cure hits theatres on January 26, 2018. It's directed by Wes Ball, who also directed 2014's The Maze Runner and its 2015 sequel, The Scorch Trials. The movie also stars Kaya Scodelario, Nathalie Emmanuel, Katherine McNamara, Walton Goggins, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Giancarlo Esposito.
Star Trek: Discovery, the first new Star Trek TV series since Enterprise ended more than a decade ago, debuts today. After a number of delays, the premiere episode airs on CBS later today, September 24.
In addition to Martin-Green, Discovery stars Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), James Frain (True Blood), Anthony Rapp (Dazed & Confused), and Doug Jones (Hellboy). You can see a trailer above, or check out Discovery's fantastic main title sequence.
To promote the show, a "spaceship" designed to resemble the show's USS Discovery was flown by a Blackhawk helicopter over the Hudson River in New York City on Saturday night. The stunt was accomplished by having a helicopter fly around a frame equipped with lights.
Star Trek: Discovery's first episode airs on CBS and CBS All Access streaming service, but all subsequent episodes will only air on the latter in the US. Elsewhere in the world, it will be available on Netflix. More details on how this works and how much you can expect to spend can be found in our how to watch Star Trek: Discovery feature.

Much like the NES Classic console from last year, the SNES Classic is a bit of a hot commodity. With an assortment of retro games from the SNES library, there are many games getting a second chance in the spotlight, along with others that have stood the test of time and still hold up as some of Nintendo's finest games.
We at GameSpot are here to give you everything you need to know about Nintendo's throwback console; such as good places to keep an eye out for ordering your console, what games are available on the system, and what sort additions have been added to make the experience of replaying these games feel a bit more unique. Be sure to check back with us for more info about our hands-on time with the console, along with our official review coming soon.
When Is The Release Date For The SNES Classic?
Set for release on September 29 for $80 USD/60 GBP/7,980 Yen, the SNES Classic will be available in most markets. Much like the NES Classic, Japan will have a Famicom version known as the Super Famicom Classic the following week on Oct 5, along with some games unique to their market such as Ganbare Goemon: Yukihime Kyūshutsu Emaki (Legend of the Mystical Ninja). Though the Western release of the Classic console will be missing some titles from its Eastern counterpart, there's still plenty of great games to enjoy.
How Can I Find An SNES Classic?
Learning from the extreme shortages of the NES Classic, Nintendo has increased the amount of units in distribution, and will also be producing them in larger quantities. Moreover, Nintendo has urged fans not to purchase SNES Classic consoles sold at significantly higher rate, as there will be more available for buyers compared to the NES Classic. Much like the pre-ordering phase, it would be best to keep watch of established stores such as Amazon, Target, GameStop, Walmart, and Best Buy for available units as they come. Be sure to check back with GameSpot for updates on availability of units.
Aside from Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, and Super Metroid, there's one game that's been getting a lot of attention, and that's Star Fox 2. Unlocked after completing the first stage in the original Star Fox, Star Fox 2 introduced a number of interesting gameplay innovations, new characters, and brand new vehicles to control. However, for a variety of reasons, it was shelved around the time of its completion. Though unofficial copies have made the rounds over the years, this marks the first time that Nintendo will be releasing the game in an official capacity. To mark this occasion, GameSpot will be publishing a review for the newly released Star Fox 2, which will be our first SNES review in two decades.
What Is The Setup And User-Interface Like?
While the original Super Nintendo was designed for standard definition TVs, the SNES Classic features an updated setup including HDMI cables, and a home menu where you can access all the games. Much like the NES Classic, the Super Nintendo mini-console will give players access to all the games from the menu, where they can jump around between each game. Each game allows for four different save slots, allowing you to save your game on the internal system. Though unlike the NES Classic, the SNES will be a bit more comfortable to play this time around, featuring longer control cables at around 5 feet. Moreover, the UI will also feature a number of tweaks and customization options for players, such as a set of custom borders you can apply to the 4:3 games, CRT filters, and also a rewind option--allowing you to as rollback a bad move in a game and try again.
Keep checking back with GameSpot during the lead up and after the release of the SNES Classic for more information as it comes. Check out some of coverage with our hands-on time below, along with updates from Nintendo, and along with our full-review.
The next installment in the Star Trek franchise is coming to a television near you on Sunday, September 24. However, watching the entire first season won't be as simple as flipping on your television to CBS, as the new series will be part of its new streaming service, CBS All Access. Here is everything you need to know in order to watch the new show. If you're looking for more details about the show's story and timeline, check out Star Trek Discovery: Everything You Need To Know.
The First Episode Will Air On CBS
Everyone with a television--as long as you have a service to get channels, like cable or an antenna--will be able to watch the first episode of Star Trek: Discovery. The first episode of the series will air on CBS on Sunday, September 24 at 8:30 PM ET/5:30 PM PT. However, it could be delayed as it's following 60 Minutes as well as an NFL game. In addition, you will be able to stream the show live and on-demand through CBS All Access.
The Rest Will Air On CBS All Access (And Netflix Internationally)
However, if you enjoy the first episode, you will not be able to watch the rest of the series on network television. You'll need to subscribe to its streaming service, CBS All Access, which will provide access to all of Star Trek: Discovery. Luckily, the second episode of Discovery will be available on the service after the broadcast premiere. And every following Sunday, new episodes will premiere on-demand after 8:30 PM ET/5:30 PM PT for All Access subscribers in the United States and Canada. For those outside the US and Canada, Star Trek: Discovery will air on Netflix, with episodes coming within 24 hours of their CBS All Access debuts.
According to IMDb, Season 1 of Discovery will consist of 15 episodes. It will run from September 24 until February 18, 2018. There will be a mid-season break from November 7 until January 7, 2018.
How To Watch CBS All Access
Because CBS All Access is not available through cable or satellite packages, like how Comcast incorporates Netflix, you will need to take extra steps in order to watch the series, but it's nothing out of the ordinary. Aside from being able to watch it on your PC, CBS All Access is available for the Roku Player, Apple TV, Chromecast, Android TV, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Fire TV.
The Price Of CBS All Access
The price point for the service is $6 a month, which includes a one week free trial. Like Hulu, limited commercials will run while you watch the content. However, you can upgrade to a package that has no commercials for $10 a month, which has a free two day trial. All Access also offers a discount of 15% off of an annual plan. This comes out to $60 a year or $100 a year for the commercial-free option.
Your Total Cost To Watch
What it comes down to is the total cost to watch Discovery. If that's your only reason for getting All Access, which also gives subscribers access to previous Star Trek television series, then you're paying for six months of service (counting September as a full month). That's going to run you $36 to watch, unless you get the one week free deal, which should be $30, total. If you choose to watch without commercials, you'll be paying $60 in total.
It's a bit of a double-edged sword for those on the fence with Star Trek: Discovery. Considering All Access doesn't have a ton of original streaming content, this may not be a great deal for someone who already has a cable or satellite service. All Access seems like a better option for cord cutters more than anything else.

The next look at Monster Hunter: World is here. Directly from Tokyo Game Show's stage, Capcom gave an in-depth look at the forthcoming title's story and gameplay.
The story will predominately take place on an island discovered 40 years previously. Things start off smoothly in a bar in the company of other hunters and great food. We don't find out too much about this world just yet, but we do know that every hunter will have a handler with them during their journey at all times. Things are fine and dandy for a good while, but our sneak peek turns sour quickly. Catch the ten-minute story preview at 7:10, exploration at 22:50, and the the battle with the story's main monster, Nergigante, at 34:30.
Monster Hunter: World is a completely open world experience that abandons quest requirements and timing. Want to waste time fishing? Go for it. More into gathering resources? That's ok too. Looking to clear the map as quickly as you can? Just latch onto a wyvern with your slinger and hitch a ride.
The latest box office figures have come in, and the action movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle won the weekend in the United States and Canada. It made around $39 million for the Friday-Sunday period in its first weekend, pushing down Stephen King's It to No. 2.
Rounding out the top five for the weekend were The Lego Ninjago Movie ($21.2 million), American Assassin ($6.3 million), and Home Again ($3.3 million). All of these numbers come by way of Entertainment Weekly, which has a full breakdown of this weekend's box office.
Going back to Kingsman, The Golden Circle's $39 million is better than the first three days for the 2015 original, which made $36.2 million for its opening. At $39 million, The Golden Circle is the fifth highest September debut ever before inflation. Internationally, it's expected to make $61.2 million, pushing its global haul to around $100 million.
The Golden Circle stars Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, Halle Barry, Jeff Bridges, and Julianne Moore. In GameSpot's critique, reviewer Michael Rougeau said, "Kingsman: The Golden Circle cranks up the knobs on everything the first movie did. Unfortunately, that means more of the bad along with more of the good. Whether that makes this mission a failure or a success is open to interpretation."

Pinchbeck said he had a non-life-threatening health issue in June, which gave him pause and led him and the team to "have a serious think about things." This happened at the end of the development of the studio's newest game, So Let Us Melt, and after a stressful-sounding time when the team was conducting game pitches and negotiations to sign a deal for a new game.
"To cut a long story short, the situation--between financial pressures, trying to keep the lights on for the employed team, the stress of end-of-development, health issues--just wasn't a tenable thing anymore. It was time to take a break, recharge, recover, and have a good think about the future," Pinchbeck said.
The result was that it was decided to lay off the development team. "So we let our team go," Pinchbeck said. "Layoffs are never pleasant, particularly when you're all trying to wrap a game. We did our best to try and help the team secure new positions, and then we all--the whole team--threw everything we had at wrapping the game. It didn't feel fair to anyone, least of all people who had spent a year working on a project, to have its completion and release overshadowed by news about the studio closing, so we've held off on the announcement until we felt we were clear of all of that."
Also in the blog post, Pinchbeck confirmed that The Chinese Room is not ending. This is only "a pause." The Chinese Room's games are staying on sale, as are things like merch and soundtracks, while Pinchbeck says the team will stay active on social media. Right now, it sounds like The Chinese Room is only three people. They are working on a game called 13th Interior (formerly known as Total Dark) and will bring on a bigger team when needed. Looking ahead, Pinchbeck said the studio has secured funding for a new game called Little Orpheus, and this project will go into the prototyping phase at the end of this year.
"So we'll still be about, just not a fully active development team for the time being," Pinchbeck said.
Pinchbeck also said the The Chinese Room grew faster than it intended. "We're makers, fundamentally, and our roles were increasingly making it very difficult to be practically involved in doing the things we love and we started the company to be able to do," Pinchbeck said. "We're taking time to figure that out; how we get to be creatives, not managing directors. That's a whole other job and skill set and lots of people do it really well and love doing it. But it's not for us--it just led to stress and burn-out and a desperate need to actually make stuff again--whether that's art, music, games, writing. So this break is a chance to reconnect with all of that, and we figure we've earned that time."
"Is it the end of The Chinese Room? No, I don't think so. But it's the end of a chapter, and we hope you can all be patient with us whilst we figure out what happens next."
There will be a media story tomorrow (September 25) in which Pinchbeck says he will share further insight into the current sit The Chinese Room. Keep checking back for more.
Tokyo Game Show is finally coming to a close and the 2017 Japan Game Awards are finally in. Unsurprisingly, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild dominated this year's Game of the Year Division to take Nintendo's second grand award win in a row after Splatoon in 2016, but Pokemon Go, Inside, and City Shrouded in Shadow also got some time in the limelight.
The Japan Game Awards are organized by the organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) and hosted annually at Tokyo Game Show. This year's awards featured three different categories and two awards: Game of the Year Division, Amateur Division, Future Division, the 2017 Game Designers Award, and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award.
Each award was selected by the CESA except the Future Division. This category was voted on by Tokyo Game Show attendees from September 21 through 23 after a screening by the committee; the titles are ranked based on which title was thought to preform the best when it launches.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Grand Award, Award for Excellence
The 2017 Game Designers award went to the team behind Inside. This bleak and almost monochromatic title was beloved for its obscure take on storytelling, and awarded for just the same. From its unorthodox controls to the deeply unsettling message it tells, Inside was lauded for its creativity and originality.
Pokemon Go may have already hit several bumps along its road to international sensationalism, but it was awarded the 2017 The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award for the way it became an international phenomenon almost overnight. The judges deemed its use of AR and contribution to different parts of the world affected by disaster as key contributors to its win as it showed potential for a new level of excellence in gaming.
