Destiny 2 Nightfall Strike Guide: Inverted Spire Now Available With These Modifiers

By Chris Pereira on Sep 14, 2017 12:17 am

The first weekly reset for Destiny 2 has occurred, bringing with it a new Nightfall. This one features The Inverted Spire Strike--which you might remember from the Destiny 2 beta--and it's available right now until September 19.

As was established with last week's Nightfall, the Power recommendation is 240 and a time limit is in place. For this week, the modifiers are Timewarp: Rings and Prism. Timewarp: Rings allows you to increase the time limit by jumping through rings you'll encounter. Prism rotates through elements on a regular basis during the Strike, increasing the amount of damage you do when using that element (and reducing the damage done by others). This was bugged during the first week, as the notification for the chosen element was not remaining on-screen as intended. However, the Momentum modifier that was set to be used this week is even more broken, hence the return of Prism.

One notable change from last week's Nightfall is that you now don't have to form a group yourself. A beta version of the Guided Games feature is now available in a beta following the longer-than-expected server maintenance period, allowing you to seek out a Clan to play through the Nightfall with.

A newly released Destiny 2 hot fix update resolves a bug with the MIDA Multi-Tool Exotic quest and enables the Clan roster in-game. For more on the game, check out our latest entry in our Destiny 2 review diary.

Destiny 2 Adds Guided Games (And Nightfall Tickets); Clan Rosters Now Live With Hot Fix Update

By Chris Pereira on Sep 14, 2017 12:15 am

Update: Bungie has provided some clarity on how Destiny 2's Guided Games beta will operate. "During the Guided Game beta, only a subset of players received Guided Game tickets at the Postmaster which are needed to queue as a Seeker," it said in a tweet. This will restrict things somewhat, although apparently everyone is free to queue up as a Guide. The original story follows.

Following a longer-than-scheduled maintenance period, Destiny 2's servers are back online. With them, some new features are now available--most notably, that includes the game's matchmaking equivalent for high-end activities, Guided Games.

Guided Games are only in beta for now, but as seen in the picture below, they'll provide you with an in-game way to find a group to complete the weekly Nightfall Strike. This is done by selecting an icon just to the bottom right of the Nightfall icon itself in the Director. From there, you can choose whether to be a Seeker (someone looking for a Clan to play the Strike with) or a Guide (Clan members who take a non-member through the Strike). Either way, it states this is a 45-minute commitment and that voice chat is required, although at this point it's unclear if the game is doing anything to enforce that.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2

Notably, you'll see that playing as a Seeker requires a Nightfall Ticket. The Postmaster will a Guided Games Beta package waiting for you that consists of Guided Game Tickets. Exactly how you'll obtain more remains to be seen.

Additionally, Bungie has released a hot fix for the game that serves a few purposes. Most notably, you can now see the clan roster in-game. Additionally, the bug involving the quest for the MIDA Multi-Tool has been resolved, allowing you to now properly obtain the MIDA Mini-Tool if your inventory is full when it's given to you. If you should have gotten one previously but did not, you can see Devrim Kay in the EDZ to receive it. The full patch notes follow below.

Today also marks Destiny 2's weekly reset. This means a new Nightfall is now available, Milestones have reset, and more. The Raid unlocks tomorrow, September 13, with Xur and Trials of the Nine making their first appearance on September 15. You can also check out the latest entry to our Destiny 2 review diary.

Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid Now Live On PS4 And Xbox One; Here's How To Access It

By Chris Pereira on Sep 14, 2017 12:10 am

Just over a week after the game's release, Destiny 2's Leviathan Raid has gone live. Provided they're powerful enough, players can dive into the game's first Raid right now, although just how difficult of a challenge it will pose remains to be seen.

Leviathan's release time, scheduled for 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST, has now passed, and the Raid is accessible in-game by selecting an icon for the Leviathan, which is located near Nessus on the main Director screen. According to game director Luke Smith, the Power level range for the Raid is 260-280, and the in-game recommendation is for players with Power levels at or above 270. If you encounter an issue with the game insisting you complete an advanced Milestone, you may need to log out and back in (or at least leave your current group momentarily) to trigger it. This may only be a problem if you were online at 10 AM when the Raid went live.

No Caption Provided

Bungie has deliberately stayed largely silent on the Raid, preferring that players discover much of it for themselves. Earlier this year, Smith said Bungie's goal was "building a place you believe is real ... a place that you believe could exist. It's unlike anything we've done." It did today release the teaser trailer above, and while it may contain some hints of what to expect, it's far from an in-depth reveal of what Leviathan will throw at players.

If you're not quite ready for the Raid, you can check out Destiny 2's latest Nightfall, which features a new modifier not seen in last week's. The weekly reset has also brought new Milestones and more for players to do. There's more new stuff on the way later this week, including the first appearance of Xur and Trials.

Final Fantasy 15 Spinoff King's Knight Now Available For Free

By Kevin Knezevic on Sep 14, 2017 12:08 am

The latest in Square Enix's increasingly long line of Final Fantasy XV spinoffs is now available worldwide. Players can download the mobile action-RPG King's Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon from the iTunes and Android app stores.

Wrath of the Dark Dragon is a sequel to the NES game King's Knight, which was notable for being the first title Squaresoft released as an independent company. Like the original, Wrath of the Dark Dragon is a scrolling shooter/RPG hybrid; players choose a character class and must use its unique abilities to shoot their way through vertically scrolling levels. The game also includes a multiplayer mode that allows up to four players to team up and battle through stages.

In addition to its new story and classes, Wrath of the Dark Dragon features a "formation" mechanic. In the game's multiplayer mode, players can unlock different formations by completing quests; when each character fits into the formation, the team performs summons and unleashes powerful attacks.

King's Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon is available as a free download and includes optional microtransactions. We got to speak with the game's producer at E3 this past summer and learned more about how Square Enix was reinventing its original game for mobile devices.

PewDiePie Releases Apology Video After Using Racist Slur During Livestream

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 11:50 pm

YouTube star Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg found himself involved in another controversy recently after using a racist slur during a PUBG livestream. He has now apologized for the remark, saying, "There are no excuses for it."

In a video entitled "My Response," PewDiePie briefly commented on the situation, apologizing to his fans and those who were offended by his comments. "I'm not going to make any excuses as to why it [happened], because there are no excuses for it," he says.

He also notes, "I'm disappointed in myself, because it seems like I've learned nothing from these past controversies." Earlier this year, he apologized for anti-Semitic content, which sparked an outcry and led to Disney and YouTube cutting ties with him.

In response to this latest incident, game developer Campo Santo said it would file a DMCA takedown notice on a PewDiePie video featuring one of its games, Firewatch. Co-founder Sean Vanaman described PewDiePie as "worse than a closeted racist" and encouraged other developers to follow suit in having their videos removed from his channel. Device 6 developer Simogo subsequently requested their videos to be pulled.

Big Free Update For PC's Galactic Civilizations 3 (And Crusade) Out Now, Here's What It Does

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 11:47 pm

The latest update for Galactic Civilizations III is now available, and developer Stardock describes it as making "some massive engine enhancements." It arrives for free for everyone, with those who own only the base game in particular seeing a large number of changes.

Among the changes in update 2.5 for those with only the base game are some of the enhancements introduced in the Crusade expansion earlier this year. That includes its refined UI and better AI, which are things that Stardock now says it doesn't want to have restricted to an expansion. "I view Crusade as practically a sequel to the base game, not just an expansion," said CEO Brad Wardell in a press release. "We really don't want to get into the business of charging money for AI and engine upgrades, so we'll continue to improve both games in order to achieve the best possible results."

Galactic Civilizations III Update 2.5 Base Game Improvements

  • UI: The cleaner and more functional UI from Crusade is added.
  • Economics: Galactic resources now accumulate, like in Crusade.
  • Diplomacy: More informed trade offers, better resource trading, and the "trade bar" from Crusade are added.
  • AI: Substantial improvements to the AI system from Crusade have been added.
  • Performance: The AI system has been moved to a core-neutral engine.

If you already own Crusade, update 2.5 does more than just upgrade the base game. Base game and Crusade owners alike will, for instance, see faster turn times.

Galactic Civilizations III Update 2.5 Base Game + Crusade Improvements

  • Improved AI
  • Better game balance
  • Faster turn times
  • Increased performance

Update 2.5 arrives today on Steam for free to all players. The base game costs $30/£23, while Crusade goes for $20/£15. The two are also available in a discounted bundle for $40/£30.

Destiny 2 Exotic Quest Guide: How To Get MIDA Multi-Tool, Sturm, Coldheart Exotics

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 11:45 pm

Like in the original game, Exotics are the most desirable items for you to obtain in Destiny 2. While you're sure to get your hands on some through loot drops from enemies or chests, there are also those that you can obtain through a specific process.

There will likely be more uncovered in the days and weeks ahead, but to help kickstart your Exotic collection, we've rounded up the ways in which you can get your hands on several right now. You're guaranteed to get one piece of armor fairly early on by completing story missions, but these guides should give you some targets to aim for (or an idea of what's required if you want something specific). One word of caution: You may want to wait before completing quests that reward you with an Exotic, as your Power level will determine how strong it is. By waiting, you'll ensure you get a higher-level weapon without needing to infuse it.

We'll continue to update this guide with more walkthroughs in the days ahead. For more, check out our roundup of Destiny 2 guides, tips, and tricks.

Coldheart (Exotic Trace Rifle)

Coldheart is very straightforward to obtain: if you pre-ordered the game, you'll get it--eventually. As with the bonuses for purchasing Destiny 2's Deluxe edition, you first need to complete the campaign. Once you've done so, you can simply head to the Gunsmith (located at the Farm) to acquire it.

Sturm (Exotic Hand Cannon)

Once again, completing the campaign is a prerequisite for getting your hands on Sturm. With that out of the way, head to Nessus and start the mission O Captain (at Exodus Black, near Failsafe). Make your way through it and you'll receive the sidearm Drang, and then receive a request to talk to Rahool. You'll have to bring him a number of Engrams--five Legendaries and one Exotic--and kill 10 Fallen on Nessus using Drang. Rahool will then send you to Tyra Karn at the Farm, who will send you to Nessus to kill 10 Fallen without reloading (though it seems you can kill a few, reload, and then kill a few more to make progress). After that, you'll have to 10 powerful Fallen on Nessus using Drang. Head back to Tyra and she'll send you to the Exodus Crash Strike on Nessus where you have to kill the Servitor named Kendriks-7. Go back to Tyra, and Sturm is yours.

MIDA Multi-Tool (Scout Rifle)

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2

Again, you'll need to complete the campaign to qualify for this. Work your way through the various missions available in the European Dead Zone, culminating in the mission titled Enhance, which will net you the MIDA Mini-Tool. (Take note that this step involving Enhance is currently bugged--make sure you have more than one Energy Weapon slot available when completing the quest.) With that in hand, head to Banshee-44 at the Farm to receive a new mission: using a scout rifle, land 50 precisions shots and then get 25 multi-kills without reloading. Go back to Banshee-44 for the next quest, which tasks you with dismantling five Rare (or better) scout rifles. Returning to Banshee-44 will give you another quest, this time to rack up 50 kills while in mid-air with the MIDA Mini-Tool. With that complete, see Banshee-44 for your new MIDA Multi-Tool.

Destiny 2 Curse Of Osiris DLC Leaks; Bungie Confirms It's Real

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 11:44 pm

Update: Not that there was much reason to doubt an official store listing, but you can brush away any suspicions you had about Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris. Bungie has confirmed it is real, with marketing director Eric Osborne writing on Twitter, "Curse of Osiris is not a leak. It's real! :)" Unfortunately, we still don't have any more details, including a release date, but at least we know for sure what to expect from the game's first DLC drop. The original story follows.

Following a report suggesting that Destiny 2's first DLC takes players to Mercury, those details have now been corroborated by a listing on the Xbox Store. The first Destiny 2 DLC pack, called Curse of Osiris, will indeed take players to that planet for an Osiris-centric story.

"Destiny 2 Expansion I: Curse of Osiris continues your Guardian's journey with all-new story missions and adventures set in a new destination, Mercury," the official description reads. "Journey through time and space to learn the secrets of Osiris, avert a dark future, and rebuild the ties between the legendary Warlock and his greatest student--Ikora Rey."

Alongside this, a feature list provides a vague sense of what to expect in terms of content. Players will get to visit something called the Infinite Forest, which is alluded to in the base game, and of course get new gear and Crucible maps. There's no mention of a Raid, although the list is not comprehensive Here's what's included:

  • Explore Mercury and its mysterious "Infinite Forest"
  • New story missions and adventures
  • New themed weapons, armor, and gear to earn
  • New cooperative activities
  • New competitive multiplayer arenas
  • And more

No release date for Curse of Osiris is included in the listing, so we'll have to continue waiting on an official announcement from Bungie and Activision for that. According to the original Kotaku report about the DLC, it will include a new social space based on the Lighthouse from the first Destiny. For more on the newly released game, check out our Destiny 2 everything you need to know roundup.

Destiny 2 Guide: How To Activate Heroic Public Events - Walker, Injection Rig, And More

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 11:42 pm

One of Destiny 2's many additions to existing systems is the concept of Heroic Public Events. These are harder versions of the standard Public Events you run into throughout the world and, as such, provide an opportunity to earn better loot. Unlocking them, however, is not quite as simple as pressing a button to jack up the difficulty.

The process for activating a Heroic Public Event varies from one to the next. There is a specific set of steps you (or the other players around) have to follow; these need to be repeated within the time limit each time you want to attempt a Heroic. The video above provides a step-by-step breakdown of what you need to do for each Public Event, which should make it easy to identify exactly where to go and what to do. You'll also find the instructions for each Heroic below--be mindful to do everything before the event's time limit expires. For more, check out our roundup of all of our Destiny 2 guides, tips, and news.

Injection Rig Heroic Public Event

Start out by killing a Psion, and then shoot a vent at the top of the rig. Although you'll be taking damage, be sure to destroy it. Kill the next Psion and destroy another vent located in the middle of the rig. Kill a third Psion and then destroy the vent that becomes exposed at the bottom of the rig. You may need to run around the middle in order to see which part of it has opened up to take damage. This process will cause a boss, Infiltrator Valus, to spawn, whom you'll need to defeat.

Destroy The Arsenal Walker Heroic Public Event

The goal here is to obtain the three Scorch Cannons surrounding the area, each of which is encased in a dome. As usual when dealing with a walker, attack one of its legs until it collapses. This will cause it to drop three Arc Charges, which you'll then need to carry to one of the domes containing a Scorch Cannon. The dome will have a place to deposit the Arc Charge, and you'll need to bring a total of two to each dome to get your hands on the weapon. Eventually, a second walker will be deployed, and you'll have to defeat both of them to finish.

Glimmer Extraction Heroic Public Event

At each of the sites throughout the event, there is a device that is extracting Glimmer. Destroy each of these before eliminating all of the nearby enemies. Then, at the final site, you'll have to guard a pile of Glimmer while standing in a designated area to complete a transmat process. Stay in the area as much as possible, as the transmat has to finish before time runs out.

Cabal Excavation Heroic Public Event

Stand near the drill to make progress, and eventually a Cabal Thresher ship will fly in nearby. Do everything you can to quickly destroy it, as it only sticks around for a limited time. If you manage to do so, a Centurion boss will spawn who needs to be defeated to complete the Heroic.

Witches' Ritual Heroic Public Event

Start out by killing a pair of Wizards while standing on the designated circles on the ground. At this point, you'll need to stand on one of the circles and destroy two shards--one is above and to the left of the big portal that enemies are coming through, and the other is above and to the right. This will cause a Hive Knight boss to spawn in; defeat him, and you're all done.

Ether Resupply Heroic Public Event

Before taking out the giant Servitor, quickly kill all of the smaller ones around the area. Once they've been dealt with, the main enemy becomes more challenging. Defeat it and you're done.

Taken Blight Heroic Public Event

The initial goal here is to destroy the giant Blight ball, which is immune to regular damage. In order to hurt it, you'll need to obtain the Blight Receding buff by going into the nearby Blight-infested area. Step back outside with the buff and deal as much damage as you can to the big Blight ball. Once you've destroyed it, the Blightmaker boss spawns in, and you'll have to defeat it to complete the Heroic.

Spire Integration Heroic Public Event

In addition to protecting the main conduit, players have to go around and stand on nearby pads. There are three in total that need to be captured, and once that's done, a Hydra will spawn in that needs to be defeated.

Tips For Destiny 2 Mods, And How To Use Them

By Matt Espineli on Sep 13, 2017 11:40 pm

In Destiny 2, Mods provide useful effects and modifiers to your weapons and armor. For example, you can install Mods that allow you to reload your kinetic weapons faster, absorb more damage, change a gun's elemental properties, or even recharge grenades faster. These effects can positively impact your ability to survive in a tense firefight. To help familiarize you with Mods, we've detailed below how to get Mods and the best practices of using them. Be wary, there are slight spoilers below.

For more guides for the game, including breakdowns of the three classes, along with our skill and ability galleries for the various subclasses, be sure to visit our Destiny 2 guides and walkthroughs page for more information on what's happening in the online world of the Guardians.

Why Are Mods Useful?

Aside from enhancing your equipment, Mods allow you to tailor your weapons or armor to better suit a specific playstyle. With Mods, you can craft multiple sets to use for different gameplay situations. For example, you might create one that emphasizes on enhancing mobility, one that improves your subclass, or even one made specifically for Raids. Mods are useful modifiers that can heavily increase your chances of survival.

How Do I Get Mods?

During the main campaign, you can acquire Mods out in the field or by turning in Bright Engrams to the Eververse. You can equip them by entering the Details screen of a weapon or armor piece in the character screen. Like weapons, Mods come in Epic (Blue) and Legendary (Purple) categories.

After you beat the game, you're also able to buy Mods by turning in Gunsmith Materials to Banshee-44. In order to get Gunsmith Materials, simply dismantle any unwanted weapons or armor in your inventory.

It's ideal to try to find the weapons and armor pieces that you enjoy using before installing any Mods as once you put them in you won't be able to get them back unless you buy/trade/craft them.

No Caption Provided

Which Mods Should I Use?

As mentioned in our glimmer guide, it's useful to buy Epic Mods from Banshee-44 because once your power level hits 280, you can then trade in three of them for a Legendary Mod. The benefit to using Legendary mods is that you can gain five points of power towards kinetic weapons, energy weapons, and power weapons. In addition, you can gain five additional points of power towards your armor pieces alongside any special effects they might have. This helps you push your power level over the 280 mark.

It's important to note that despite using Mods to enhance your power level, your weapon and armor drops will scale accordingly to your base power level stats. Don't expect to get powerful equipment just because you've artificially upgraded your power level; though, it's possible to get lucky and get higher powered equipment.

How Do I Create Powerful Mods?

You can trade in two Mod Components and 1,000 glimmer to Banshee-44 to create a random new Legendary weapon or armor Mod. To get a Mod Component, you need to dismantle other Legendary mods. For example, you can do this to get a Legendary Kinetic mod that gives 5 more power to kinetic weapons.

Mortal Kombat Gets Its Own Line Of Funko Pop Figures

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 11:34 pm

Given Funko's apparent mission to give the Pop treatment to everything on the planet, it's kind of shocking when you realize a big series doesn't already have any Pop figures available. Mortal Kombat falls into that category, but not for much longer, as Funko today announced a line of Pop Vinyl figures is on the way featuring Sub-Zero and company.

10 different Pop figures based on the Mortal Kombat series have been announced, although these only represent six different characters due to alternate versions and store exclusives. Series stars Sub-Zero and Scorpion are well-represented--Sub-Zero gets a total of three just to himself--while Raiden, Kitana, Liu Kang, and Goro also get one.

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8

You can see all of the figures in the gallery above. One version of Sub-Zero is a limited-edition Chase variant. Scorpion's flaming skull version will be a Hot Topic exclusive, while Goro (a larger-than-standard 6-inch figure) and the Sub-Zero and Scorpion two-pack will only be found at GameStop. All of these arrive in November.

The release of these Funko Pop figures isn't tied to any new game. The most recent title in the series is Mortal Kombat X, which launched back in 2015 before getting an updated version, Mortal Kombat XL, a year later. The next game in the series has not been announced, although developer NetherRealm continues to release new content for its latest title, Injustice 2.

Mother! Review

By Michael Rougeau on Sep 13, 2017 11:30 pm

The Mother! trailer that dropped with little fanfare last month succeeded in doing what trailers are meant to do: It drummed up hype for Mother!. With its creepy string instrument shrieks, it gave the impression that Mother! would be a pretty far-out horror movie, maybe a home invasion thriller, probably with some surreal elements--this is from Darren Aronofsky, the guy behind movies like Requiem For a Dream and Black Swan, after all. Seems great, no?

Those assumptions turned out to be not exactly correct. Mother! is not a horror movie. It is a thriller, though absolutely not one that can be draped with any existing subgenre labels. It's a deranged fever dream, the kind where you want to run, scream, or punch someone, but your body simply refuses to move. You're left powerless. That's legitimately how it feels to watch Mother!, a shocking, frustrating, painfully tense film.

On its ground floor, Mother! is about a woman whose weirdly placid husband allows their home to be repeatedly invaded in ever more egregious ways. But the film toys with fantastical elements from its opening moments, when star Javier Bardem places a crystal in a metal stand and watches as his home's blackened, charred bones transform back into the peculiar Victorian house that serves as Mother!'s sole setting.

That's not a one-off event simply to set up the story, either. These dream-like moments pervade Mother!, and that's before things really go off the deep end. Blood rots the floor and drips down the basement walls, while the house regularly shakes and shudders as star Jennifer Lawrence loses her grip. Bardem's nameless poet struggles vaguely with writer's block, and repeatedly invites strangers into his home as a means of procrastination (or so it initially seems). First it's Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer, both of whom also go unnamed. Then the rest of their family arrives, and then a whole lot more people, and a brief reprieve later, the house devolves into utter chaos, reality coming completely undone.

Lawrence's protagonist, also unnamed, remains powerless through it all, even in the movie's completely insane second act. That's when it fully leaves the ground behind, flying into an extended, shockingly violent series of events that somehow combines elements of a book signing, a wild rave, a riot, an actual guerilla war, a human-trafficking ring, an execution, a press conference, a religious ceremony, human sacrifice, and the Bible. Years seem to pass in the space of an evening, the masses in the house transforming into party guests, slaves, protesters, warriors, worshippers, and hate-filled murderers as the ever-shifting scene demands.

Mother! isn't really about the events of its plot. What it is about is open to interpretation. The camera fixates uncomfortably close on the actors' faces, particularly Lawrence's. You feel the pain of her inability to affect the situation in any way, and Mother! is extremely effective as the story of a woman whose agency, her ability to act, has been stolen from her by the man she loves. She's subjected to the vicious wills of outside forces over which she should have full control. Her husband is a disarming force who only serves to coo and placate her into inaction. When she finally wakes up, it's far too late. The cycle starts again. This feels like the film's clearest thematic thread: The ways in which people in a relationship manipulate one another to feed their own egos.

Mother!'s symbolism is rarely subtle. At its heart are the themes of destruction and creation, pleasure and pain, privacy and agency. From the fire that consumes the house and the lighter that ignites the cigarette that consumes the body, to the Mother, who wants to live in peace, to paint her house, to raise it from the ashes where it fell, to make new life--every detail works toward these metaphors. Harris and Pfeiffer prove absolutely maddening as semi-welcomed home invaders, oozing hostility through body language even with smiles on their faces. Bardem is a self-centered black hole of happiness, though by the time Lawrence realizes it, the car has long left the garage. Kristen Wiig even makes a brief appearance, her character's cameo only adding to the sense that it's all a strange nightmare.

The stories behind this movie have already begun to seem like the stuff of filmmaking legend. In a statement given during the recent Venice Film Festival and sent to GameSpot as a typed-out email attachment, Aronofsky decried the current state of a world he believes is plagued by problems "too serious to fathom" and "too ridiculous to comprehend," from climate change to politics to world hunger.

"From this primordial soup of angst and helplessness, I woke up one morning and this movie poured out of me like a fever dream," he said. And it will pour into you like one, too, should you choose to watch it.

Mother! is tough to get through, uncomfortable and frustrating, both blunt with its symbolism and incredibly obtuse, and shocking in its violence, particularly toward Lawrence, with a couple of scenes so depraved that some viewers will find them difficult or impossible to watch. But it's also a singular work of art that film fans shouldn't miss, no matter how you feel about it once you snap back to reality.

Destiny 2 PC Release Date, Requirements, And Everything We Know

By Array on Sep 13, 2017 11:13 pm

Unlike its predecessor, Destiny 2 will release on PC. Although players will have to wait longer for it--Destiny 2 doesn't launch on PC until October 24 but is already available on Xbox One and PS4--the PC version does feature a variety of improvements and differences compared with its console counterparts. To help you get an idea of what to expect from the PC release of Bungie's hotly anticipated sequel, we've gathered all of the essential details below.

For more on the game, check out our Destiny 2 review-in-progress and our ongoing Destiny 2 review diary; we'll have a full review in the near future. We also have tons of Destiny 2 guides, tips, and tricks for those who have already begun playing on consoles or are simply looking to get a head start on how things will work on PC.

Destiny 2 PC Version FAQ

When does the PC version come out, and what's different?

The PC version is confirmed to release on October 24, while the Xbox One and PS4 versions are already out, having launched on September 6. (Betas on all platforms have also wrapped up.) The PS4 version comes with an extra Strike, Crucible map, and some items that will not be available on other platforms for at least one year. There's no precise date for it yet, but after PlayStation-exclusive content in Destiny 1 remained exclusive for longer than expected, Bungie has explicitly stated that this Destiny 2 content will be out by the end of 2018.

What are the minimum required and recommended systems specs?

  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB

What extra visual options does the PC version have?

Destiny 2 on PC supports 4K resolution and uncapped framerates. There's also ultra-wide screen support and an FOV slider, as well as compatibility with HDR displays. If you have an SLI setup, it will take advantage of that, too. We can go into depth with the beta in the video above, and you can our analysis of how well Destiny 2 runs on PC here. As for settings you can tweak, there's quite a lot to mess around with, including:

  • Resolution
  • V-sync (30 FPS, 60 FPS, Off)
  • Field of View (55 to 105)
  • Anti-aliasing (FXAA, SMAA, MSAA)
  • Ambient Occlusion (HDAO, 3D)
  • Texture Anisotropy (Anisotropic Filtering, up to 16x)
  • Texture Quality
  • Shadow Quality
  • Depth of Field
  • Environmental Detail Distance
  • Character Detail Distance
  • Foliage Detail Distance
  • Foliage Shadow Distance
  • Light Shafts
  • Motion Blur
  • Wind Impulse
  • Render Resolution
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR)
  • Chromatic Aberration
  • Film Grain

What's the control scheme?

The PC version uses a relatively straightforward control scheme, which you can see in the image below. It's worth noting that the controls are completely customizable.

Will Destiny 2 have dedicated servers?

Unfortunately, the game will use peer-to-peer servers. However, this doesn't work quite the same as in the previous game; when Bungie explained why Destiny 2 doesn't use dedicated servers, it noted that you'll never run into a host migration situation.

How does the game feel and play?

During our hands-on time with the game, we found the mouse and keyboard support to be a welcome addition. It enhanced the overall feel of multiplayer, though it did seem to make the single-player portions we played easier than we anticipated. You can check out our analysis of the PC beta for a technical look at the game; for further impressions of the PC version, watch the video below.

Is Destiny 2 any good?

If you're hoping the game is dramatically different from the original Destiny, you may be in for a disappointment, but those seeking a refined version of that game will likely be pleased. You can read our impressions of the full game on console in our Destiny 2 review diary and Destiny 2 review-in-progress.

What gaming platform does Destiny 2 on PC use?

Destiny 2 uses Blizzard's desktop app. It's the first game not directly developed by Blizzard to appear on the platform. Activision and Blizzard have changed its name several times recently, but moving forward it will be referred to as Blizzard Battle.net.

Can my progress from the first game on consoles transfer to the PC version?

Unfortunately, Destiny 1 power, possessions, and Eververse-related items and currency will not transfer over. While your character's appearance will not be abandoned in the sequel for console owners, there's no word if it'll support any kind of transfer from console to PC.

Destiny 2: Release Date, Raid, And All The Reviews, Guides, Tips, PC Details You Need

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 13, 2017 11:11 pm

Destiny 2 Review

"I haven't finished the main story yet, but so far it's a clear improvement over Destiny's much-maligned storytelling," Kallie said. "Like the beta, Destiny 2 begins with an attack on The Tower by a Cabal faction called the Red Legion. But rather than being thrust into situations with little to no context, as was so often the case in Destiny, each mission of the Red War arc has objectives that make sense within both the mission itself and the grand scheme. Locating a missing Cayde-6, for example, is important to the fight against the Red Legion, since he's a powerful Hunter. But fighting waves of Vex to get to him also makes sense, as he's trapped in a Vex teleporter, and that small bit of context makes that moment feel distinct from others where you're killing the same enemies."

Guides And Tips

For Destiny veterans, a lot has changed in Destiny 2, while the game will also see many newcomers to the series. Whichever boat you fall in, we'll have plenty of guides to help you succeed in the days and weeks ahead.

Starting Out

In-Depth Guides And Tips

Class Guides

What Systems Is It Available On?

Unlike the first Destiny, Destiny 2 is available only for new-generation consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It's also coming to PC, but not until October 24. Returning players will get rewards and a nice little memorial.

What Versions Are Available?

Destiny is available in Standard, Digital Deluxe, and a Game + Expansion Pass Bundle. The Digital Deluxe edition comes with a Legendary emote and the Cabal Empire-themed emblem. It also includes the Expansion Pass, which comes with two expansions to be released later. The Game + Expansion Pass Bundle is pretty self-explanatory.

Here are the prices:

  • Standard -- $60/£55/$100 AU
  • Game + Expansion Pass Bundle --$90/£80/$140 AU
  • Digital Deluxe -- $100/£90/$150 AU

People who pre-ordered Destiny 2 will receive the Coldheart Exotic rifle, the Kill-Tracker Ghost, and the Salute emote.

File Size

According to Destiny 2's store pages, the game weighs in at 30.9 GB on PS4 and 34.98 GB on Xbox One. The PC version's file size may end up being larger, but we don't know yet.

What Is And Isn't Available In Destiny 2 Now?

While Destiny 2's first Raid, Trials, Guided Games, and in-game Clan features are not available, you can play the full campaign and the Crucible multiplayer mode. Additionally, Destiny 2's first Nightfall Strike is available now.

The raid kicks off at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST on September 13 (3 AM AET on September 14 in Australia). Trials will become available at the same time on September 15 (16 in Australia). The in-game Clan features will go live in the next several days, Bungie said, but for now you can access Clan-management systems through Bungie's website.

How To Kill Those Annoying Phalanx Enemies

In the original Destiny, defeating Phalanxes usually involved either chucking a grenade behind them, or shooting the tiny bit of arm visible sticking outside their shields. In Destiny 2, they've been granted a brand new weak spot, smack in the middle of those shields. Ping that glowing spot with a few shots and the shields retract, stunning the jerks in the process. [Lots more details here]

Known Issues, Technical Problems, And Server Queues

Destiny 2's release is poised to be massive, likely straining the game's servers. To allow for a better experience, Bungie is using a system MMO players are familiar with: server queues. Bungie has warned that players may not be able to immediately access the game. In order to "regulate player population to provide stable conditions for Destiny gameplay," server queues can pop up in Destiny 2 just as they could in the previous game. In other words, you may have to wait in line before you can play. Additionally, there are a number of issues to be aware of.

Five Biggest Changes In Destiny 2

Launch Is Just The Start

One of the shortcomings of Destiny 1 was that content was not released fast enough to meet players' expectations. For the sequel, Bungie is working with outside studios like High Moon and Vicarious Visions to create and release content faster. We know there are two paid expansions coming, and recently, a leak suggested the first expansion is called The Curse of Osiris and will be out in December. It'll supposedly add a patrol zone on Mercury, a social space, and a storyline centered around Osiris.

Disney's Live-Action Aladdin Remake Has A New, Earlier Release Date

By Dan Auty on Sep 13, 2017 10:18 pm

Disney's live-action remake of its animated classic Aladdin has moved release date. The film was originally set to hit theaters in December 2019, but it has now shifted forward seven months and will arrive on May 24, 2019.

The change in release date comes as a result of another big Disney movie--Star Wars: Episode IX--moving its own release. The two films have essentially swapped places in the studio's schedule, and Episode IX will now debut on December 20. This change follows the departure of original Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow. Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams will now helm the Star Wars movie.

No Caption Provided

Aladdin is currently in production and is being directed by Guy Ritchie, who helmed this year's commercial failure King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, as well as the Sherlock Holmes movies. The film stars Will Smith as the Genie, together with Mena Massoud (Jack Ryan) as Aladdin, Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) as Princess Jasmine, and Marwan Kenzari (The Mummy) as Jafar. Last week, Smith posted the first image from the set.

Aladdin is just one of several Disney live action remakes in the works. Jungle Book director Jon Favreau is to direct The Lion King, and we can also expect a sequel to The Jungle Book and new versions of Dumbo and Mulan.

Watch Ghost Recon: Wildlands' New PvP Mode, Ghost War, In Action; Open Beta Starts Soon

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 10:14 pm

It's been a long wait for a PvP mode in Ghost Recon: Wildlands, but we recently got a good look at Ghost War in action. The upcoming mode, which will be available for free, allows two teams to take one another on in what amounts to deathmatch.

As shown off in the video above, Ghost War is a 4v4 mode that supports revives. It does not, however, include vehicles or more complex objectives--at least at this point. Matches play out as a best-of-three affair with 10-minute rounds. At launch, there are eight maps and 12 classes available, only six of which we were actually able to try out.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4

A free PvP mode for Wildlands was announced way back in March as part of Ubisoft's post-launch plans for the game, which also included other free updates and paid DLC. Those expansions have already been released, while Ghost War is still to come sometime this fall. An open beta for Ghost War was announced last month and is now scheduled for September 21-25.

If you haven't tried it for yourself, a free trial of Wildlands will allow you to check out five hours of the game on PS4 or Xbox One. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Wildlands was the best-selling game during the first half of 2017.

Watch Today's Switch And 3DS Nintendo Direct Right Here

By Kevin Knezevic on Sep 13, 2017 09:31 pm

In a few hours, Nintendo will air its next Nintendo Direct broadcast, and you can follow along with the presentation right here. This rather lengthy Direct is scheduled to run for 45 minutes and will focus on games coming to Switch and 3DS "over the next few months."

The broadcast kicks off at 3 PM PT/6 PM ET/11 PM BST/8 AM AEST. You can watch it either on Nintendo's official website or via the YouTube stream, which we will embed below once it becomes available.

Nintendo hasn't specified all the games it will showcase during today's Direct, but the company did confirm that Super Mario Odyssey will be featured prominently. Given the length of the broadcast, it seems likely that Nintendo will unveil some unannounced titles for both platforms, though what those could be is open to speculation.

Switch has a number of notable games still on the horizon for this year. The Pokemon fighting game Pokken Tournament DX launches later this month, on September 22, while the hack-and-slash Fire Emblem spinoff, Fire Emblem Warriors, arrives on both Switch and New 3DS on October 20. The open-world JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is also slated to launch this year, though as of now it remains without a concrete release date.

3DS, likewise, has some major games still in store for it this year. In addition to the critically acclaimed Metroid: Samus Returns, which launches on September 15, the revamped Mario RPG Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions is slated to release on October 6, while Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon launch on November 17.

Destiny 2: Raid Release Time, Xur Return, New Nightfall, And More Confirmed

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 13, 2017 08:47 pm

Destiny 2's launch this week is just the beginning. As you'd expect, there is a lot more content and activities coming, including quite a bit of fresh material this month. As part of Bungie's newest blog post, the studio shared a schedule of Destiny 2's first-month activities, which include the Inverted Spire Nightfall Strike, followed by the mysterious Leviathan raid on September 13 at 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST.

Later in the week, on September 15, Destiny 2's Trials of the Nine event kicks off. On that same day, the Exotic dealer Xur arrives to sell his wares--unfortunately for those expecting to see him today, there's another week to wait. You can see everything coming to Destiny 2 during its first month in the image below.

No Caption Provided

Looking ahead to October, Bungie will add even more new activities, one of which is the Iron Banner multiplayer event. Not only that, but it sounds like a change is coming to the Leviathan raid, as Bungie says you'll have "new ways to have your prestige tested."

Destiny 2 is out now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC edition to follow in October. In other news, Bungie said today that "millions" of people have already played Destiny 2, just days after launch, while the studio has also outlined all of the current known issues and problems that have been resolved.

For more on Destiny 2, check out GameSpot's review diary from editor Kallie Plagge. We'll have a full review coming up soon.

X-Men Spinoff The New Mutants' Logo Revealed In On-Set Image

By Dan Auty on Sep 13, 2017 08:32 pm

While last year's X-Men: Apocalypse wasn't quite the same level of hit as its predecessors, there's no denying that as a franchise, X-Men is still extremely popular. Deadpool and Logan were hugely successful, and there are no fewer than three more movies currently in production.

One of these is The New Mutants, and as it nears the end of filming, director Josh Boone has released a new image from the set. It doesn't give much away, but does reveal the film's logo--a bloodstained spin on the classic logo from Marvel's comic books. Check it out below:

Last week shooting #newmutants

A post shared by Josh Boone (@joshboonemovies) on

The New Mutants is set to hit theaters on April 13, 2018. It stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Anya Taylor-Joy (Split), Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why), and Alice Braga (Elysium).

In an interview earlier this year, Boone revealed that The New Mutants is not a standard superhero movie: "We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe," he said. "There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We're trying to do something very, very different."

This isn't the first time that we've heard that The New Mutants might be going in a different direction from the main X-Men films. Last year, ComingSoon suggested it would be a "teen horror movie," while X-Men producer Simon Kinberg said that it would have "its own unique, original voice."

In related news, both X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Deadpool 2 are also currently shooting. The latter was marked with tragedy last month, when an on-set accident caused the death of stunt driver Joi 'SJ' Harris.

Star Wars Battlefront's DLC Season Pass Is Free On PS4, Xbox One, And PC

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 07:43 pm

Ahead of the launch of its upcoming sequel, Star Wars Battlefront's season pass has gone free for a limited time. While an official promotion has still not been announced by EA, you can download the DLC for free right now.

This offer is available on PC (through Origin), PS4, and Xbox One. However, if you're on the latter platform, it seems like you'll need an Xbox Live Gold membership to grab the season pass; PlayStation Plus doesn't appear to be required for the PS4 version. You can claim the season pass through the links below

Whichever platform you grab it on, the season pass will entitle you to all of the DLC expansions released for Battlefront. That includes some solid ones, such as the excellent Death Star-themed DLC. These consist of new maps, modes, and Hero units, among other things.

Star Wars Battlefront II is slated for release on November 17. Unlike its predecessor, it will not have a season pass--all of Battlefront II's maps, modes, and characters will be free. However, a microtransaction system will be present.

Marvel's The Punisher: Check Out New Motion Poster And Images

By Dan Auty on Sep 13, 2017 06:47 pm

The Punisher is one of Marvel's most iconic characters, and there is much anticipation for the upcoming Netflix series. While a release date for The Punisher has not been revealed yet, we have had a first teaser and a list of potential episode titles delivered in a series of cryptic tweets. These have now been joined by a cool motion poster, which emphasises the show's military theme. Check it out below:

A series of new images have also been released, which you can see over at Entertainment Weekly. Netflix has issued a synopsis for the show, which reads, "After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York's criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone."

The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal as the vigilante anti-hero. Bernthal first played the role in Season 2 of Daredevil, and he will be joined by his Daredevil co-star Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page.

Bernthal is the fourth actor to play the Punisher, following Dolph Lungren, Thomas Jane, and Ray Stevenson, in the three previous movie versions. In an interview with Complex last year, Bernthal spoke about taking on this much-loved character.

"The first step in trying to fill Frank Castle's shoes is to try to understand what would happen if somebody tore that love away from you," he said. "If they tore those people away from you. And that's something that just filled me with so much emotion and made me so scared, so angry. It's always sort of been my philosophy in life. If something really scares you, if something really kinda sets you on fire inside, that's exactly what you need to step towards."

"There's a pressure there to stepping into an unbelievably iconic role," he continued. "The responsibility here is to do justice to the iterations of the character that have come before me, but then obviously to make it unique, and to make it real, and to make it mine."

New Nintendo Switch App Update Finally Lets You Chat With Your Phone Screen Locked

By Oscar Dayus on Sep 13, 2017 03:44 pm

The Nintendo Switch Online app launched on mobile back in July, allowing you to chat to your friends online and invite people to matches on Splatoon 2. However, it launched with one big problem: it required you to keep your phone unlocked and the app open, otherwise you would be unable to talk to your friends.

Now, the app has been updated on both iOS and Android to allow you to lock your phone screen or use other apps and continue chatting to your friends. Update 1.1.0's patch notes state "Voice chat will now continue when other apps are opened … [and] during sleep mode." Nintendo notes, however, that devices running Android 6.0 or later will not allow you to continue chatting while not in the app if you have power-saving mode turned on. The company advises those users to deactivate battery optimisation in the app's settings.

For now, the Nintendo Switch Online App remains free, but it will require a subscription fee of $20 / €20 per year when the Switch's online service launches in full in 2018. It will include online multiplayer access and voice chat, and you'll also get to download classic games such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, and Dr. Mario.

In spite of the problems with the app, Splatoon 2 was well-received by critics. GameSpot awarded it an 8/10, with critic Kallie Plagge writing, "All the small changes, and even the bigger ones in single player and League Battles, make for a fresh take on the already unique shooter. If you played a lot of the original, the sequel has enough to keep you coming back, and if you're new to the game, it's a fantastic place to jump in." Read more in our full Splatoon 2 review.

Destiny 2 Microtransactions: Silver Prices, Where You Can Buy Shaders And Bright Engrams

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 13, 2017 03:18 pm

Like the first Destiny (and many other games for that matter), the newly released sequel Destiny 2 lets you spend real money on a currency system called Silver. This takes place in Destiny 2's Eververse Trading Company store, which becomes accessible at Level 20. The character Tess Everis operates the store again, and here is a breakdown of the cost.

Destiny 2 Microtransaction Pricing:

  • 500 Silver -- $5
  • 1110 Silver -- $10
  • 2300 Silver -- $20
  • 5800 Silver -- $50

Everis sells Bright Engrams, which are sort of like loot boxes from Overwatch. It works out to 200 Silver for one, three for 500, and five for 800. Decode them and you'll earn special rewards like Exotic weapon ornaments, a Sparrow, emotes, or something else. As Polygon explains, there is a chance you could get an elemental weapon mod, which can affect gameplay and may be controversial because of that. Weapon stats can be "slightly" enhanced with these mods, and there are also armor mods and one for subclass abilities to make them regenerate faster.

Additionally, you can buy Destiny 2 emotes with Silver--and there are some cool-looking ones. For example, Spicy Ramen shows your character cooking and consumer spicy ramen while Flip Out displays your Guardian flipping a table over. There are also shaders, which has caused some anger among fans. Check out this video from YouTube's DestinyOverwatch to see all the Eververse items you can buy now.

Destiny 2 PSA: Don't Wait To Decrypt Engrams (Don't Bother Equipping Your Best Gear Either)

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 03:15 pm

Players continue to come to grips with the changes in Destiny 2, many of which are for the better. Some of these involve obtaining new gear and decrypting Engrams, a process which has been radically simplified.

As we've pointed out previously, you'll notice that Engrams drop less frequently than in the original Destiny. That means you can more frequently acquire new gear and equip it without first taking a trip to the Farm, which is certainly nice. But when you do obtain an Engram, there are two key bits of information to be aware of.

The first is that there's no sense in holding onto Engrams, as their Power level is determined when they're dropped. In other words, grinding your level or Power up before decrypting an Engram won't have an effect on it. In fact, by waiting, you may end up finding that it's underpowered relative to your current gear, forcing you to waste materials to infuse it in order to bring its Power level up.

Better yet is what Destiny 2 project lead Mark Noseworthy confirmed on Twitter recently: You no longer have to equip your best gear when decrypting. The game automatically determines what your best possible loadout is and uses that figure when dictating the Power of an Engram. As a result, you're essentially free to use whatever gear you want--you're no longer impacting the strength of your drops by using a lower-level piece of gear you prefer.

We've got tons of tips and guides for Destiny 2, with more still to come; one other thing to make sure you're aware of is that you may want to save your Upgrade Points. For thoughts on the game itself, check our Destiny 2 review diary.

Destiny 2 Players Are Very Angry At How Shaders Work

By Chris Pereira on Sep 13, 2017 03:13 pm

Among the many smaller changes in Destiny 2 is one concerning shaders, the items used to re-color your gear. Many players have responded negatively to the way they function as consumables, and now Bungie has responded with an explanation of why the adjustment was made.

Whereas Destiny 1 allowed you to freely switch between any shader you had obtained (which was then applied to all of your armor), those in Destiny 2 are single-use consumables, meaning you'll need to repeatedly acquire a single shader if you want to change the look of a bunch of items. Of course, there are other changes at play here, too, like the fact that randomized rolls on items are gone, meaning you won't be dismantling them as frequently. But because shaders can be obtained by spending real-world money, players have complained that this change was motivated purely by greed. As a result, players are quite angry, as this popular thread on Reddit demonstrates.

No doubt in response to the frustration regarding the subject, Destiny 2 director Luke Smith took to Twitter today to provide some insight into why shaders now work the way they do. "Shaders are earned through gameplay: leveling, chests, engrams, vendors," he explained over a series of tweets. "We expect you'll be flush w[ith] shaders as you continue to play. When you reach Level 20, shaders will drop more often: vendor rewards, destination play, and endgame activities.

"Shaders are now an ongoing reward for playing. Customization will inspire gameplay. Each planet has unique armor and shader rewards. With D2, we want statements like, 'I want to run the Raid, Trials, or go back to Titan to get more of its Shader' to be possible."

The explanation is unlikely to convince angry players, though it remains to be seen if this is one of those changes that becomes accepted as people spend more time with the game. For more, check our Destiny 2 review diary and roundup of everything you need to know about Destiny 2.

Destiny 2's Farm Has A Really Cool Secret Easter Egg

Destiny 2 is out today, and most people are rushing to blast through the campaign and get ready for next week's Raid. But if you're willing to take a break from leveling up, the Farm social space holds an intriguing secret that you might have overlooked.

Mild spoilers for Destiny 2 secrets ahead. If this is something that you want to try and discover on your own, you'll want to skip the rest of this story.

Originally revealed on the Destiny Reddit forum by user Myndit, you can (temporarily) unlock a nifty glowing look and the ability to jump really high in the social space by following a very specific series of steps. We've outlined exactly what you need to do in the video above, but here's the shorthand to activate and complete the Farm's Scouting Patrol. Note that you can complete these initial steps in whatever order you'd like.

  1. Head over to where Tess Everis is selling her wares.
  2. Hop on top of her tarp, and take a running jump toward the watermill building.
  3. Walk to the waterwheel and walk on top until you see text pop up that says "Sentry Ranks" and "Wheel Boost" completed. From here, your character will glow blue, and you can jump higher.
  4. Walk along the wire connecting the water mill to the tall building that the Postmaster is parked in front of.
  5. Follow the next set of wires connecting that building to the other tall structure where you meet Suraya. You'll automactially activate "Sentry Ranks x4" and "Vertigo Completed."
  6. Next, you'll head to the camp fire at the opposite end of the Farm from the soccer field.
  7. Activate "Scouting Patrol." You'll glow red and be able to jump even higher (though beware, you still take falling damage).
  8. Follow the glowing lights (around 10 in all) until you've hit them all, after which, you'll get to keep the cool glowing effect called "Commander's Blessing" until you either leave the Farm or die.

The entire journey feels a bit random, but it's a cool effect. Does it have a deeper meaning or some other use that we haven't discovered yet? We'll have to wait to find out. In the meantime, if you're looking for more tips about how to be better at Destiny 2, check out our guide here.

Destiny 2's Brilliant Soundtrack Is Out, Listen To It Here

By Eddie Makuch on Sep 13, 2017 03:07 pm

Bungie's Halo games had great music. Destiny 1 did as well. And this continues with Destiny 2, which has a score that is memorable and drives you into the game further and pulls you along with its orchestral themes and driving tone. If you want to listen to Destiny 2's score outside of the game, Bungie has now released all of it on YouTube.

All 33 tracks, spanning more than 2.5 hours of music, from the Destiny 2 official soundtrack are available to stream through the YouTube playlist below.

Destiny 2's music was composed by Michael Salvatori, Skye Lewin, C. Paul Johnson, Rotem Moav, and Peter Schlosser. In a statement, the composers talked about what they wanted to achieve with Destiny 2's music.

"'What makes a Guardian a Guardian?"' This is the central question posed by Destiny 2," they said. "In creating the music that will drive you through moments of loss and recovery, we have asked that same question of ourselves. The new soundtrack was composed to capture the somber spirit of a civilization confronting immense tragedy, and also to inspire bravery in the hearts of our heroes as they stand together and fight to reclaim all that they hold dead. We hope that you enjoy the music that accompanies this bold new adventure. Be brave all over again, Guardians."

You can buy Destiny 2's OST from the Bungie Store for $10 to get a digital copy, not a physical one. The soundtrack comes with options for MP3, Lossless, and Flac formats. Additionally, it has liner notes from the composers, along with a code to unlock a player emblem called "Resonant Chord" for Destiny 2.

Destiny 1 had a song written by legendary musician Paul McCartney of The Beatles, but it doesn't seem like Bungie or publisher Activision brought him back for the sequel.

This Is How Destiny 2's Clans Features Work

By Matt Espineli on Sep 13, 2017 03:05 pm

Clans have returned in Destiny 2, but this time around the feature is properly implemented into the game. You now have access to a multitude of tools and features to manage and maintain your Clan. In addition, members of your Clan have the opportunity to unlock special perks, earn end-game rewards, and host solo players seeking out people to play with in end-game activities.

With so much to understand about Clans in Destiny 2, we've compiled a beginner's guide detailing everything you need to know about what they are and how to access them.

Clan Q&A

What Are Clans?

Clans are communities that can be accessed in-game that are created and managed by players. They allow its members to play and progress together, communicate, and build up a community.

What Are the Benefits of Joining a Clan?

You can earn experience, level up, and obtain rewards when other members progress through the main campaign and participate as a group in normal or end-game activities. Progression can be viewed anytime in the Clan Profile in the game and the Destiny Companion via Bungie.net or the mobile app. Keep in mind that there's a weekly cap of 5000 XP per character.

It's also possible to obtain special perks, which are unlocked as your Clan gains experience and reaches certain Clan levels. You can receive perk benefits by obtaining the Clan Banner item from Hawthorne after unlocking the Farm social space and joining a clan. Be mindful that Clan Perks and Levels reset with each new Destiny 2 season.

You even gain Weekly Clan Engrams. However, in order to earn them, at least half of a fireteam attempting the activity must belong to the Clan. Like perks, Weekly Clan Engrams reset with each new Destiny 2 season.

Lastly, you can participate as Clan guides in Guided Games to help solo players through endgame activities

How Do I Join a Clan?

In order to be eligible to request to join a Clan or to receive Clan invites, you need to link your platform account to your Bungie.net profile. Once you've done so, you can use the Destiny Companion to search for Clans to join. Alternatively, a Clan leader can send you a direct invitation.

It's worth noting that you can only belong to one clan per Destiny account. In addition, if you have Destiny accounts on multiple platforms, you can have each account be in the same Clan or in different Clans.

How Do I Create a Clan?

Go to the Clan page in the Destiny Companion and highlight the Create Clan option. During the creation process, you can set the Clan Name, Motto, and Mission Statement. You can even choose your Clan's membership parameters. For example, you set Clan enrollment to Invite Only, or you can make joining completely open to the public. Regardless, only Clan Founders and Clan Admins can accept or deny requests to join the Clan.

Once a Clan is made, you're free to set the Clan Banner, change Clan settings (including the name and motto), shift Clan Founders and Admins, or edit Clan management tasks. Keep in mind that Clans must have a total of at least two members to start earning experience, as well as for the Clan, Clan Roster, and Clan Banner to show up in Destiny 2. Total Clan membership is limited to 100 players.

How Do I Communicate With My Clan?

Clans can communicate in real time using the text chat feature in the Destiny Companion. Also, every Clan has a dedicated private forum that can be used to post messages to their community.

Can I Change Clans?

It's possible to join a new Clan while already a member of a different Clan only if the new Clan you wish to join has an "Approval Required" enrollment. Once your new Clan request is approved, it'll automatically be converted into a pending invitation. This precaution is put in place to prevent a requesting player from being removed from their old Clan without notice. Be wary; changing Clans can impact your Weekly Clan Engrams and Clan Perks.

Can I Leave a Clan?

If you're a basic Clan member, it's possible to leave a Clan. But keep in mind that doing so impacts what Clan Perks and what weekly Clan Engrams you can access.

However, if you're a Clan Founder, you cannot leave or join another Clan until you've re-assigned the Founder role to another member or are the last member of the Clan (in which case leaving deletes the Clan).
