We'll be updating this list as more giveaways are announced, so check back often to see what free items and Pokemon you can get.

Bethesda has revealed more details about the upcoming DLC packs for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. The publisher announced its DLC plans for the game this past summer, and now it has confirmed when each of the expansions is scheduled to release.
As previously detailed, The Freedom Chronicles season pass consists of four DLC expansions for Wolfenstein II, the first of which--Episode Zero--is available now for players who pre-ordered the title or purchased the season pass. It will be followed on December 14 by The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe, a new mission that stars former quarterback Joseph Stallion as he "smash[es] through Nazi hordes from the ruins of Chicago to the vastness of space."
The third DLC expansion arrives a month later, on January 30, and is called The Diaries of Agent Silent Death. It puts players in the role of ex-OSS agent Jessica Valiant and has them "infiltrate Nazi bunkers in California and discover the secrets of Operation San Andreas." The final expansion, The Deeds of Captain Wilkins, launches in March and tasks players with dismantling a Nazi operation in Alaska.
The Freedom Chronicles season pass costs US $25 / £18 / AU $35 and includes all of the aforementioned DLC packs. Players can also purchase each of the expansions individually, though Bethesda has yet to announce pricing details for them.
Destiny 2's latest weekly reset has introduced the second-ever Faction Rally event. The first instance saw an exploit that could be utilized to rapidly acquire Faction Tokens, which are redeemed for engram packages that include Faction Rally armor, weapons, and rewards. A new exploit has now been discovered that even more rapidly allows you to acquire Tokens. [Update: This exploit has still not been patched, but this instance of Faction Rallies is set to end soon with the weekly reset on Tuesday, November 14.]
The recent Destiny 2 1.0.6 update made changes to how Faction Tokens are obtained. One major adjustment was the removal of Tokens that were handed out for destroying "enemy resources" located in Lost Sectors. In their place, Fireteams now earn three Tokens by opening up the chest at the end of a Lost Sector. This was meant to prevent farming and to address complaints about how enemy resources only provided Tokens to one player. But it appears this isn't working quite as intended.
As we demonstrate in the video above, following a specific process allows you to rapidly farm Tokens. You first head to the EDZ's Winding Cove area, and then go to the Lost Sector located just north of where you spawn in. Killing the boss inside unlocks the chest and allows you claim your reward. Open that and you can use a nearby exit to head back outside, but once you've gone far enough to trigger the "Winding Cove" pop-up text, just turn back around and you can re-open the chest without having to kill the boss again. This can be repeated endlessly for an essentially unlimited supply of Tokens.
It's unclear if Bungie plans to patch this exploit, but it's still active as of this writing. One thing to bear in mind is that only the first 30 engrams you receive from a faction (per character) has a chance to offer item rewards. Beyond that point, you'll only receive shaders. Still, considering that the three factions are competing to earn the most rewards--which results in that faction's unique weapon being sold during Victory Week--players may be frustrated if the results are swung by players making use of the exploit.
In the 24 hours following the New York Times releasing an expose about stand-up comedian Louis CK, alleging sexual misconduct with multiple women, he has admitted the stories are true. Since then, practically everyone involved with CK has cut their ties with him.
HBO was the first to act, dropping him from its upcoming Night of Too Many Stars charity event. The network will also be removing his past projects from HBO's on-demand service.
FX followed suit in a statement reading, "Today, FX Networks and FX Productions are ending our association with Louis C.K. We are cancelling the overall deal between FX Productions and his production company, Pig Newton. He will no longer serve as executive producer or receive compensation on any of the four shows we were producing with him–Better Things, Baskets, One Mississippi, and The Cops."
Meanwhile, TBS has suspended production on The Cops, an upcoming animated series that was scheduled to premiere in 2018. CK was to star alongside Albert Brooks in the project. Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment have also cut ties with CK, announcing the comedian has been dropped from the starring role of The Secret Life of Pets 2, which is set for a June 7, 2019 release. The distributor of the independent movie I Love You, Daddy has called off the release of that film, which was written and directed by CK, who also starred.
Additionally, his management 3 Arts has dropped him as a client, along with his stand-up comedy representatives APA and longtime publicist Lewis Kay. Kay confirmed he was no longer working with the comedian in a tweet.
CK admitted to the sexual misconduct in a statement Friday. In it, he says, "I have been remorseful of my actions. And I've tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I'm aware of the extent of the impact of my actions. I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position."
Now, for the time at least, it seems CK is prepared to leave the spotlight. While he doesn't actually apologize in the statement, the comedian ends by saying, "I will now step back and take a long time to listen."
Flatliners star Ellen Page has accused her one-time director Brett Ratner of publicly outing her to the cast of X-Men: The Last Stand, with no regard for the actress herself. Page's claim comes in a lengthy Facebook post that details several instances of alleged misconduct by the director, following multiple accusations of sexual assault and harassment.
In her post, Page writes, "I was eighteen years old. He looked at a woman standing next to me, ten years my senior, pointed to me and said: 'You should f*** her to make her realize she's gay.'" At this point in Page's life, she says she "had not yet come out to myself." Thus, having Ratner out her to the assembled cast and crew of the third X-Men movie at a meet-and-greet event before production commenced was violating.
This story, in particular, has been corroborated by Page's The Last Stand co-star Anna Paquin, who tweeted, "I was there when that comment was made. I stand with you."
"This man, who had cast me in the film, started our months of filming at a work event with this horrific, unchallenged plea," she says. "He 'outed' me with no regard for my well-being, an act we all recognize as homophobic." Unfortunately for the cast and crew of the film, Page says this wasn't the only incident of misconduct from Ratner during filming. "I proceeded to watch him on set say degrading things to women. I remember a woman walking by the monitor as he made a comment about her 'flappy p****,'" she says.
There was eventually an altercation between the two, as well. "He was pressuring me, in front of many people, to don a t-shirt with 'Team Ratner' on it. I said no and he insisted," Page remembers. "I responded, 'I am not on your team.' Later in the day, producers of the film came to my trailer to say that I 'couldn't talk like that to him.' I was being reprimanded, yet he was not being punished nor fired for the blatantly homophobic and abusive behavior we all witnessed."
The actress also discusses another instance in which a man in a position of power took advantage of the situation. "When I was sixteen a director took me to dinner (a professional obligation and a very common one). He fondled my leg under the table and said, 'You have to make the move, I can't,'" Page says. "I did not make the move and I was fortunate to get away from that situation." She says that mere months after that, she was assaulted by a film crew member and asked by a director to sleep with a man in his late twenties. It should be reiterated this all happened when Page was 16.
She is the latest in a long line of actors and actresses coming forward about the sexual assault and harassment they've faced throughout their lives. Recently, Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp alleged that fellow actor Kevin Spacey assaulted him when he was 14--Spacey was 26, at the time.
With Marvel preparing to unleash Black Panther in theaters in early 2018, a series of character posters have been revealed, introducing the world to the royal family of Wakanda and the movie's key players. The posters go a long way in not only establishing the characters fans will meet in the film, but illustrate how different Black Panther will be visually from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The different look of the movie is something that's already been partially established in trailer for the film thus far. However, the posters provide incredible detail when it comes to the colorful world of Wakanda and the hero that protects it.
The posters feature the Black Panther himself, King T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman), his stepmother Ramonda (Angela Bassett), sister Shuri (Letitia Wright), and Forest Whitaker as royal advisor Zuri. Also getting posters are Dora Milaje members Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) and Okoye (Danai Gurira), along with T'Challa's best friend and confidant, W'Kabi (Daniel Kaluuya).
Rounding out the series of portraits is Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger, one of the movie's villains, Winston Duke as the ruthless warrior M'Baku, Andy Serkis reprising his Avengers: Age of Ultron role as arms dealer Ulysses Kane, and Martin Freeman returning as Joint Counter Terrorism Center member Everett K. Ross. The film is set after Captain America: Civil War, as T'Challa returns to his home of Wakanda to find it under siege by Erik Killmonger and M'Baku.
Black Panther arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018.
The first reviews to the upcoming Justice League are in! The social media embargo on the film expired Friday and, though full reviews won't be out until closer to release, critics have plenty of say about the film on Twitter.
The general consensus of critics seems to be that the film isn't perfect, by any means. However, it is a vast improvement over Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Following in the steps of Wonder Woman, critics say the film has found its humor and lightened up the tone from what's been seen thus far in the DC cinematic universe.
#JusticeLeague is good! (And I can finally talk about it!) Wonder Woman is wonderful, Aquaman is surprisingly cool, Flash is hilarious, Batman is drunk, the story is coherent, and it's all surprisingly funny. It's not perfect, but really enjoyable! Full review to come! pic.twitter.com/YzgSL4FBOP
GameSpot Universe's own Mike Rougeau saw the film and writes, "#JusticeLeague is good ... Wonder Woman is wonderful, Aquaman is surprisingly cool, Flash is hilarious, Batman is drunk, the story is coherent, and it's all surprisingly funny. It's not perfect, but really enjoyable!"
IGN's Terri Schwartz echoes that sentiment, tweeting, "I am genuinely happy to report #JusticeLeague is a lot of fun. It's not perfect and has its problems, but does the job of making you care about these characters as a team by its end." Legion of Leia's Jenna Busch says, "There are ton of things I'd change but it comes down to this: I had a blast."
I am genuinely happy to report #JusticeLeague is a lot of fun. It's not perfect and has its problems, but does the job of making you care about these characters as a team by its end. It's also VERY funny, in lots of unexpected ways. pic.twitter.com/1AAjYgv16i
I saw #JusticeLeague! Here's what I thought. There are ton of things I'd change but it comes down to this: I had a blast! I got to see the team together and I had fun watching it. Ezra Miller steals the movie and #WonderWoman was perfect! pic.twitter.com/rgCI9fUuTs
What things could still use a little work, though? "It has story 'flaws' and a simple, CGI villain," Comic Book Now's Brandon Davis says. "Narratively it's a mess, the stakes don't work & the villain isn't great," Germain Lussier from Gizmodo writes. "HOWEVER, the heroes ARE great, it's funny, & there's some surprisingly effective character work."
Justice League is not a perfect movie. It has story "flaws" and a simple, CGI villain. BUT, more importantly, it gets the heroes right. Every member of the League is fantastic and it's tough to choose a favorite. It's a ton a fun, start to finish.
JUSTICE LEAGUE! It's okay. Narratively it's a mess, the stakes don't work & the villain isn't great. HOWEVER, the heroes ARE great, it's funny, & there's some surprisingly effective character work. I didn't love it, but there are enough good pieces to excite me for the future. pic.twitter.com/OY4ARJ5vDY
The fact that almost universally thus far critics find the film not only funny but filled with superheroes you want to cheer on is refreshing to hear after some of the previous DC movies. For many critics, it's giving them hope for the future of the franchise. As Slashfilm's Peter Sciretta writes, "The film sends the DCEU in a hopeful direction in line with where the brand should be headed."
Justice League is better than expected, but not a home run. The interaction between the team is a lot of fun. The film sends the DCEU in a hopeful direction in line with where the brand should be headed. Flash and Aquaman steal the show. Cyborg and villain are the weak links.
Perhaps most interestingly, though, is the reaction to the movie's dual directors. While Zack Snyder was in charge of most of the film's production, Joss Whedon came on late in the game when Snyder needed to excuse himself for personal reasons. Given the two distinctly different creative styles of the directors, it was unknown how their visions would mess with the final product.
Surprisingly, it seems like the film has integrated the best from both directors. "It looks like a Snyder film but sounds & plays like a Whedon film," IGN's Jim Vejvoda tweets.
Thus far, it seems safe to say DC fans can be cautiously optimistic about what they will find in Justice League. You'll be able to read GameSpot Universe's full review next week. The movie hits theaters on November 17.
Deadpool 2 won't be gracing theaters until next June but it's never too early to start preparing for the Merc with a Mouth, is it? With the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday approaching, the marketing campaign for the sequel to the R-rated comic book movie has officially begun.
First, a teaser poster for the movie has been released. It shows Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and his nearest and dearest gathering for Thanksgiving dinner. The image is an homage to the Normal Rockwell painting "Freedom from Want" and includes all of the characters you need to remember from the first movie--including taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni)--along with newcomers Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). The poster even contains a Stan Lee cameo.
Somehow, the poster isn't the more bizarre of the two promotional pieces. As it turns out, Deadpool is also serving as a guest editor for Good Housekeeping. A promotional issue of the magazine featuring the masked vigilante on the cover, has been released with copies being handed out in cities around the Unites States.
It's not just a clever cover, though. Collider got their hands on an issue and it's filled with helpful holiday tips from Deadpool himself. In the pages of this magazine, the character has written a letter to readers, shared some of his favorite recipes--including D's Spiced Nuts and Creamy Clam Skinny Dip-along with six easy step to carving up your Thanksgiving turkey. Of course, Deadpool is using a katana to do his carving.
If this is what Deadpool 2 has up its sleeve over six months before the movie releases, chances are things are only going to get better from here. You can see Deadpool 2 in theaters on June 1, 2018.
The next pair of Pokemon games, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, launch on 3DS this month, marking the series' final installments for Nintendo's dual-screen handheld. The titles are based on last year's Sun and Moon versions but tell an "alternate" story that revolves around the mysterious Legendary Pokemon Necrozma.
While the core adventure remains the same across both versions, each game has some some distinct elements, so you may be unsure of which to pick up. We break down the biggest differences between the two versions below to help you decide which one to play.
Which Version Should You Get?
We recently had the opportunity to interview the developers of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and one of the topics they weighed in on is which version players should pick up.
"In essence there's no real problem with whichever one you buy, you're going to get a really good experience of Pokemon,"said Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon director Kazumasa Iwao. "But one point users might want to consider is that the Pokedex in Pokemon Ultra Sun is based on the Pokedex in Pokemon Sun and the same for Ultra Moon and Moon. So if something the players are really looking for is Pokedex completion, they might find it better to go for the opposite version this time round in order to help complete their Pokedex. So if they bought Pokemon Sun, they might want to choose Pokemon Ultra Moon this time."
However, those who care more about the games' narrative may want to consider sticking with the same version this time. As producer Shigeru Ohmori explained, "[I]f you're looking for a story-based experience then those who played Pokemon Sun may want to go for Ultra Sun as there are some small details that remain consistent throughout the two that might appeal to people looking for a story-based game."
General Differences
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon tell the same story and feature the same cast of major characters, but there are some slight differences between the two titles that will make the experience unique depending on the version you choose to play. As in the original Sun and Moon, the two games are set 12 hours apart. Ultra Sun will reflect the time that is set in your 3DS clock, while Ultra Moon will be 12 hours ahead--meaning if you play during the day, it will be night in the game.
Additionally, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon introduce a mysterious new group called the Ultra Recon Squad. This team arrives in Alola through an Ultra Wormhole and has some sort of connection to the Ultra Beasts; in one trailer, the group can be seen commanding the new Ultra Beast, UB-Adhesive. You'll encounter different members of the Ultra Recon Squad depending on which version you play. In Ultra Sun, players will cross paths with Dulse and Zossie; in Ultra Moon, players will meet Phyco and Soliera.
Version-Exclusive Pokemon
As with every pair of Pokemon titles, the primary difference between Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is the kinds of Pokemon you can encounter in each version. While both games feature most of the same monsters, each one is also home to a handful of exclusive Pokemon that cannot be captured in the other version. Below you'll find a list of all the version-exclusive Pokemon that have been confirmed so far:

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon release for 3DS on November 17. Along with an expanded storyline, the games introduce many new features and characters, including a new surfing game and Team Rainbow Rocket, a villainous supergroup comprised of the leaders from past teams. Players who purchase either title by January 10, 2018 will receive a free gift: a special Rockruff that evolves into the new Dusk Form Lycanroc.
The actor took to Instagram to post a illustrated picture of the character of The Crow, with the caption addressed to director Corin Hardy. It reads, "I've been waiting for sooooo long. @corinhardy let's do this brother." In response, Hardy posted an image of himself and Momoa, with the caption, "Two-headed monster. Craawwk."
The Crow Reborn does not yet have a release date. However, last month creator James O'Barr stated that it would begin pre-production in February 2018, and confirmed Hardy's involvement. Hardy previously made the acclaimed horror movie The Hallow and directed the upcoming Conjuring spin-off, The Nun.
The Crow first appeared on the screen in the 1994 movie, which was adapted from James O'Barr's comic book. The film was a critical and financial hit, but it was overshadowed by the accidental death of star Brandon Lee on set. An unsuccessful sequel, The Crow: City of Angels, was released in 1996.
We're now comfortably into November, and if you haven't already claimed them, that means the next set of Xbox One and Xbox 360 Games With Gold titles are waiting for you. A total of four games across the two platforms will be available over the course of the month, as well as one that's stuck around from last month.
Xbox One owners can now pick up the racing game TrackMania Turbo, while puzzler The Turing Test, a holdover from October, will continue to be free through November 15. On Xbox 360, the Sega Saturn remake Nights Into Dreams is available at the low, low price of free for the first of the month. Later this week, starting on November 16, Tales From The Borderlands will go free on Xbox One, while Deadfall Adventures will drop to $0.00 that day. Both Xbox 360 games are playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility.
Sony has launched the next set of free games for PlayStation Plus members. We're now well into November, and subscribers can download a total of seven titles across PS4, PS3, and Vita. That's one more than usual, as Sony is again offering a bonus PlayStation VR game following the headset's recent one-year anniversary. As usual, PS4 owners have the widest and best selection of games, but you've got something to look forward to regardless of platform.
PS4 owners with PS Plus have four games in total to nab for free right now: strategy game Worms Battlegrounds, the gorgeous (but hard-to-describe) Bound, and PSVR shooter Until Dawn: Rush of Blood; the latter will be available for longer than the other games, as it's not a part of the standard monthly lineup. Additionally, Cross-Buy provides PS4 players with a fourth title at no cost, the action RPG Dungeon Punks.
All of the standard PS Plus freebie can be claimed until December 5, when they'll return to their regular prices. By adding them to your library before then, you can play them for as long as you remain a Plus subscriber. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, meanwhile, remains free until January 3. You can see the full list of this month's PS Plus freebies and grab them from the links below.
November is here, and it's going to be a big month for subscribers to Amazon Prime. The service's streaming video component is beefing up its library heading into the end of the year with original TV shows and movies--including the critically acclaimed The Big Sick.
The big news for Amazon in November comes in the form of a secret agent, though. As with Hulu, a large piece of the James Bond film library is now available--practically every film from 1962's Dr. No through 2002's Die Another Day. The one omission is the original Casino Royale, which starred David Nivens as 007.
Another major arrival to Prime is three Thursday Night Football games, taking place throughout the month. Matchups featuring the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks, and Pittsburgh Steelers will be available live exclusively through Amazon Prime Video.
We're now well into November, and Hulu has shared a full list of new titles coming to its streaming service this month. In addition to new episodes of your favorite TV shows, November will see the debut of some notable Hulu original series and a slew of new movies to watch.
The most notable addition for the month is sure to be the series premiere of Marvel's Runaways, the streamer's first comic book adaptation. From Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creative duo behind The O.C. and Gossip Girl, Runaways tells the stories of six teenagers who learn their parents are supervillains. It arrives on November 21.
Future Man, from executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, will bring time traveling comedy to Hulu. Josh Hutcherson stars as a janitor that might also be the savior of the universe.
As for movies, popular titles like 13 Going on 30, Ocean's Eleven, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day will become available to stream. Additionally, 21 James Bond films have debuted on Hulu, giving subscribers access to almost every single film starring the famed secret agent, prior to Daniel Craig taking on the role. The only early film that's missing is 1967's Casino Royale.
Netflix has announced what's coming and going in the month of November. As usual with the streaming service, many titles--both original and not--will be added to the service leading throughout the month. One particularly interesting addition is the upcoming documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, which is made up of behind-the-scenes footage of Jim Carrey during production of Man on the Moon--the Andy Kaufman biopic.
Of course, the most anticipated release of the month for Netflix is none other than Marvel's The Punisher. The streamer's first Marvel series after Defenders launches November 17, with Jon Bernthal playing the gun-toting vigilante. November will also see the arrival of new seasons of Lady Dynamite and Broadchurch, along with movies like Chappie, Men in Black, and Piranha.
Leaving Netflix isthe Matrix Trilogy, V for Vendetta, and The Human Centipede: First Sequence, to name a few. On the TV front, the streaming service will also remove all nine seasons of How I Met Your Mother, along with four seasons of Jessie.
PES 2018's new update, Data Pack 2, is coming very soon, publisher Konami has announced. The patch arrives on November 16, bringing with it additional licensed kits, updated player faces, two new stadiums, and the addition of David Beckham as a playable Legend.
Over 40 new and updated faces can be found in the patch, including Philippe Coutinho, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Andre Silva, while its two new grounds are Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and the Chile national arena. Also included are 65 updated licensed kits, nine new pairs of boots, and over 1000 new and updated player photos. Finally, David Beckham will soon join the game's roster of Legends, meaning you can recruit him to join your team in MyClub.
Konami recently highlighted PES 2018 as a key factor in the company's increased profits. The game was received well among critics, and earned an 8/10 in GameSpot's PES 2018 review. We said: "When you get onto the pitch, no other football game feels as good as PES 2018. The slower pace is a definite improvement, helping tread the line between realism and fun near-perfectly. There's just something about the players' movement and the kinds of arcs the ball makes in the air that's just so pleasant to control--every pass, header, and shot just feels right. And when it clicks, and you score a thunderous strike from the edge of the area or finish off a slick passing move or even when you launch an ugly long ball forward to grab a last-gasp winner, it's the closest feeling you'll get to being out there scoring yourself."
It's a big week for Xbox, as the Xbox One X launched, and with it comes a new round of Deals with Gold, offering up to 85 percent off certain games. This week's deals include one that is enhanced for the Xbox One X. Quantum Break is a time-bending action game game that recently received an update that introduces Xbox One X enhancements. For a limited time, it's half off at $20 for Xbox Live Gold members. [Update: It's Monday, and that means Microsoft is close to rolling out the next batch of weekly Xbox Live deals. If you're interested in anything that's on sale, now is the time to pick it up.]
If you're looking to get a racing game fix, Forza Motorsport 6 and the Forza Horizon 2 bundle are 50 percent off, among others; Forza Horizon 3's winter-themed Blizzard Mountain DLC is also half price. You can also pick up Homefront: The Revolution for just $12, and tons of its DLC content is also half off in this week's Spotlight sale. The excellent Enter the Gungeon also drops to $7.49.
Another weekly reset has occurred in Destiny 2, bringing with it the second-ever Faction Rally event to PS4 and Xbox One (or the first, if you're on PC). It also means there is a new Flashpoint on Nessus and a new Nightfall Strike now available, and we've got the full rundown on what to expect from this week's journey to The Inverted Spire. [Update: It's Monday and the weekly reset is approaching. If you haven't already completed this Nightfall, now is your last opportunity to do so.]
In terms of Modifiers, you'll be able to gain some additional time to complete the Strike with Timewarp: Rings. This presents Vex rings in certain areas throughout the mission, which you can jump through to extend the time limit by 30 seconds. Momentum is also active, and this causes your health and shield regeneration to cease when you stand still. Sprinting allows you to regenerate both more quickly, meaning you'll need to stay on the move in order to stay alive.
As for Challenges, you'll again be faced with Speed of Dark, which requires at least five minutes to still be on the clock when you finish the Strike. Unbroken asks you to make it through with fewer than three deaths. And The Floor is Lava tasks your entire Fireteam with avoiding Protheon's fire attack; slay it without anyone taking a hit from the ground attack to complete this.
The reward for completing the Nightfall is Powerful gear. This is one of the only ways to obtain such gear, and they're among the best items you can get your hands on. It's also an easy way to increase your Power level past 265, which presents a difficult point to surpass for many players. If you haven't hit 265 yet, you may want to wait until after you've raised your Power level to grab the Nightfall reward. This Nightfall will be available until the next weekly reset, which occurs at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM GMT / 8 PM AEDT on Tuesday, November 14.
If you haven't yet unlocked the Nightfall, you'll need to complete two Strikes and approach the suggested Power level of 240 before Zavala will allow you to take part in them. Traditional matchmaking is not available, but in its place we have Guided Games, providing players with the opportunity to be matched up with members of a clan for the mission (which requires a Nightfall Ticket). Alternatively, clan members can sign up to serve as guides through the Nightfall. Doing so does not require a Ticket.
Ahead of Black Friday, a new batch of deals are now available in the US PlayStation Store. This week's selection is fairly slim compared to previous weeks, but PS4 owners can find discounts on a slate of titles from Warner Bros. Interactive. [Update: It's Monday, meaning we're now just a day away from the next batch of PSN deals launching ahead of Black Friday. If you're interested in anything on sale right now, you're running out of time to take advantage.]
While there aren't any other special sales going on this week, players can still find a handful of other games on sale in the PlayStation Store. Much of the discussion about Star Wars Battlefront II, particularly since its beta, has centered around the game's microtransactions. While EA has made a welcome change in giving away all gameplay content--like the upcoming Last Jedi characters and maps--for free, it's compensated by introducing a loot crate system. But whereas this can be relatively innocuous in other games, such as Overwatch, where you're only obtaining skins and cosmetics, Battlefront II's crates have a meaningful impact on gameplay.
While the system wasn't active during the beta, it did lead to an uproar from fans, causing some concessions from developer DICE. The studio announced that it was making changes to Battlefront II crates, such as preventing players from earning high-tier Star Cards from loot crates or being able to equip them without first reaching a certain level. But that solution left open the door for players to purchase loot crates and craft Epic-level Star Cards that can be used once they've put in enough time with the game. Essentially, that means players can pay for an in-game performance boost, just with a temporary roadblock. And it also does nothing to prevent players from buying loot crates to use lesser (but still beneficial) Star Cards right out of the gate. These cards can be obtained by playing, but those who pay will have an edge until you can put in a substantial amount of time.
In the video above, we provide a comprehensive breakdown of the different currencies, what kind of items and Star Cards are available, and what $90 (or $100, if you don't have the EA/Origin Access discount) puts in your hands. It's a complex system, but one you'll likely want to understand before diving into the game--or deciding whether it's worth a purchase.
It's easy to forget, given some of Marvel and Netflix's recent joint output, what the two studios are capable of when they're at their best. All the Marvel/Netflix shows exist on a subjective spectrum, but it's generally accepted that The Defenders, Iron Fist, and Daredevil Season 2 weren't the greatest, while Daredevil Season 1, Jessica Jones, and (depending who you ask) Luke Cage were much better. Luckily for Marvel fans--and fans of good TV everywhere--The Punisher is with the latter group.
That's based on the first six episodes of The Punisher's 13-episode Season 1, which Netflix made available to press ahead of the show's Nov. 17 premiere. But even in just its first half, The Punisher Season 1 is confident, well-made television. The show could still blow it in the season's second half, but that remains to be seen.
The Punisher, of course, follows Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), the titular anti-hero, who perpetually mourns his family by murdering the people responsible for their deaths. Despite doing this for a while now--during Daredevil Season 2, presumably through the events that took place in The Defenders, and now on his standalone show--he never seems to run out of "the people responsible" to murder. The web always expands, the rabbit hole goes deeper, and the conspiracy reaches its blood-soaked tendrils higher and higher into government organizations like the CIA. And the Punisher punishes them all--by murdering them good--while enjoying endless flashbacks of his once-happy family.
That basic framework might seem a little tired, and it is--a little. But if John Wick taught us anything, it's that revenge flicks done well will never get old. And make no mistake, if you're looking for another superhero jam: The Punisher has more in common with John Wick than with most of Marvel's other movies and shows.
That's a good thing. The Punisher is grounded in the way that Jessica Jones and Daredevil's first season were; these aren't superhumans or gods, and there's no magic or alternate dimensions. There's not even a shadowy organization pulling the strings behind the scenes, waiting to be unmasked and defeated in an epic team-up (at least, not in the first six episodes). There's only Frank, and the military, CIA, and other government operatives who screwed him over and murdered his family. (It only helps these connected shows that The Hand is--hopefully--gone for good.)
In this season's initial half, Frank isn't even really Punishing, in the capital "P" sense of the word. He burns his skull-adorned get-up after an opening montage in which--he believes--he puts down all "the people responsible" for good. Of course, there are more layers to uncover, as Frank learns when an NSA analyst-turned-hacker, Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), gets in touch with some new intel. The two make a fun odd couple, first butting heads, then grudgingly cooperating. It's nothing revolutionary, but there's plenty of humor and drama to be mined from their pairing, which the season's second half will likely explore further.
In supporting roles are homeland security agents Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah) and Sam Stein (Michael Nathanson), as well as two of Castle's former squadmates in a Clandestine military outfit known as Cerberus--Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore) and Billy Russo (Westworld's Ben Barnes).
Through these characters The Punisher manages to explore some pretty topical subject matter. Take Curtis's PTSD support group, which Billy, who now runs a private military company, provides funding for. The veterans who attend feel let down by their country, and they channel their anger in various ways, including some seemingly meant to stir debate among viewers (although never in an unrealistic way).
There's been some worry that The Punisher would feel tone deaf, given the character's inclination for shooting lots of people with very big guns, and the many tragic shootings that have taken place in the real world recently. Netflix and Marvel even acknowledged as much when they pulled out of New York Comic Con in October.
But besides an indulgent title credits sequence where a massive arsenal swirls and coalesces to form the iconic skull logo, The Punisher doesn't feel overly worshipful of the many guns that grace its scenes. Frank uses guns simply as a tool, just as he uses knives, grenades, and anything else in arm's reach. He doesn't obsess over them, besides occasional cleanings.
And he spends much of The Punisher Season 1's first half trying to put it all behind him anyway. Bernthal once again proves himself a fantastic actor, with a simply ridiculous range between emotional drama and rage-fueled action, and he more than carries the show. Just as in Daredevil Season 2, Frank Castle is one of the best-cast characters in all the Marvel universe.
There are seven more episodes of The Punisher to watch, and even Marvel and Netflix's best shows have begun to drag in their second halves. Some might even complain that the first six are a little slow. They probably could have squeezed this story down to fewer episodes if they didn't show us the exact same flashbacks of Frank's doomed family so many times. But each episode picks up by the end, ensuring many will suffer from "just one more" syndrome, until we've binged way past our bedtimes, and, maybe, finished them all. At least, I know what I'm doing this Friday.
Ever since it was canceled in 2006, fans of HBO's highly acclaimed western drama Deadwood have been hoping that it will make a return to the screen. There has been talk of a potential movie for many years, and it now looks like it is happening, with new reports that production could start in 2018.
According to TVLine, HBO is looking to start shooting in the fall of next year. However, the site also notes that the project is yet to receive an official green light and that HBO has not formally commented on it.
The Deadwood movie has been picking up some momentum over the past year. During the Television Critics Association press tour this summer, HBO Programming President Casey Bloys spoke about the script that the show's creator David Milch had written for the film. "The one thing that I was concerned about was I wanted a script that would stand on its own [for Deadwood fans and non-fans]," he said, via The Hollywood Reporter. "David totally delivered on that. I think it's a terrific script. If we can do it on a budget that makes sense for us, and if we can get the cast together, we're inclined to do it."
Earlier this year, star Ian McShane, who plays Al Swearengen, spoke about this hopes that the movie would happen. "I would love to do that again, be reunited with David and Tim [Olyphant] and everybody concerned with it," he said, via Den of Geek. "But they better make a deal sooner or later because we're all getting on a bit. It would be great to work with David again. [It] was maybe the best experience I ever had."
The three seasons of Deadwood ran from 2004 to 2006. Although the shows won eight Emmy Awards, HBO decided not to move forward with Season 4. At the time Milch spoke about his plans to make two feature-length TV movies to complete the story. However, in 2007, McShane revealed that the sets for the show were being dismantled and that the movies would not happen.
Call of Duty: WWII came top of the UK sales chart in its debut week, and it has now carried that momentum into its second week on sale (ending November 11). The shooter finishes No.1 again, and sales monitor Chart-Track says the game earned "the highest-selling second week for a title of not only this year, but 2016 as well."
We awarded EA's racer a 5/10 in our Need for Speed Payback review. Critic Richard Wakeling wrote: "Need for Speed Payback's banal racing is only magnified by this focus on grinding. The simple, almost retro, handling model provides occasional bouts of fun, but it's never enough to escape Payback's flaws, with an unwillingness to let you partake in its most hair-raising moments, and a general drabness that seeps into every layer of the game. Fast and Furious, this is not; and that's a disappointing outcome."
Sonic Forces also got a 5/10. "Sonic Forces ultimately fails to advance the mechanics of previously successful 3D Sonic games, or present them in their best light," wrote Matt Espineli. "A mediocre platformer at best, Sonic Forces manages to do nothing more than reinforce long held stereotypes against Sega's beloved blue blur." Read more in our full Sonic Forces review.
You can read the full top 10 sales chart below, courtesy of Chart-Track. Note this table does not include digital sales data, and so should not be considered representative of all UK game sales.
Like that one song that Spotify keeps playing even though you're in shuffle mode, Xur is back. This time Destiny 2's best Resident Evil 4 Merchant cosplayer has landed on Nessus, and to get to him all you've got to do is fast travel to Watcher's Grave.
Once you've landed, bring up the map and pop a waypoint on him. If you've been playing Destiny 2 since launch, you'll no doubt be familiar with this spot, as it's a frequent haunt for our boy Xur. If you haven't, it's as easy as hopping on your Sparrow when you land, boosting straight forward, and then doing some light platforming up the tree to find him hanging out on a branch.
If you're wondering whether it's worth the effort, we've got a breakdown of everything he has to offer. Take a look below.
The Prospector (Grenade Launcher) -- 29 Legendary Shards
Foetracer (Hunter Class Helmet) -- 23 Legendary Shards
An Insurmountable Skullfort (Helmet) -- 23 Legendary Shards
Eye of Another World (Warlock Class Helmet) -- 23 Legendary Shards
The big Destiny 2 news this week is that Faction Rallies are up and running again. As with the last one, you'll need to pledge yourself to one of three groups, and then hunt down items to exchange for gear and weapons. Before you make your decision, check out our Destiny 2 faction rally guide to see all the new weapons, gear, and other rewards.
If you're planning to participate in the event, it may be worth checking out this article on a new Destiny 2 Faction Rallies exploit that lets you earn tokens really quickly. That'll save you some time and get you the gear you want much quicker.
Looking further ahead, Guided Games, a Destiny 2 feature that pairs solo players with high-level players for endgame activities like Nightfalls and the Raids, will receive small changes with the release of Curse of Osiris on December 5. These are intended to alleviate some issues that have persisted since its launch. You can read more about the upcoming changes to Destiny 2's Guided Games here.
Call of Duty: World War II launched earlier this month, but its release was not totally smooth, with players reporting online and multiplayer issues. In a blog post today, developer Sledgehammer thanked fans for their support amid what has been a "whirlwind" launch. Despite the issues, the game has welcomed "millions" of players already, Sledgehammer said.
"Our highest priority is to deliver the best online experience possible. We're not there yet, and we won't rest until we are," the studio said. "Our entire team is working around the clock, and we would like to share our current status update."
The update released last week had an adverse effect on server performance, Sledgehammer said. In response to this, Sledgehammer dropped the dedicated servers and switched to a P2P setup. This has helped improve things, but a P2P setup means players may experience host migration and other annoying little things. Dedicated servers are preferred, and fans may be happy to know that Sledgehammer aims to bring them back in due course; doing so is the studio's "highest priority."
In fact, Sledgehammer is already testing dedicated servers in "limited markets" such as some places in the United States. "This level of data and diagnostics is helping us work toward a permanent solution as quickly as possible," Sledgehammer said. "We've begun to test dedicated servers today in the US. We'll watch this test closely, and once we analyze the results we'll look to expand."
Sledgehammer also discussed another issue that players have been running into: getting disconnected from the server. The studio has found the root cause of the problem, and a patch is coming out tonight on PS4 and Xbox One to fix the issue. This is a big deal because getting disconnected can mean the loss of stats and other problemes.
Additionally, Sledgehammer confirmed that Call of Duty: WWII's Headquarters mode--a social space like Destiny's Tower--is still not functioning as intended. It is supposed to be a social area where lots of players come together, but last week, Sledgehammer made it a solo experience to help improve the online experience. Unfortunately, it's still a solo experience (though you can manually invite friends), and that's not changing for some time.
"HQ is best enjoyed with a thriving, fully populated social community interacting together," Sledgehammer said. "So hang in there while we address the most pressing concerns first."
Finally, Sledgehammer said PC fans should know that the studio is listening to their feedback. The next title update for PC is finished, but Sledgehammer is not going to release it until it can fix the other issues mentioned above, a portion of which also impact the PC audience.
"This is only the beginning, so thank you for playing," Sledgehammer said. "We won't rest until we resolve everything we can for the community."
Multiple Call of Duty movies are in the works. We don't know much about the stories they'll tell or who will star in them, but now Activision's Tim Kilpin has shed some light on the company's general approach to making films based on its video games. Kiplin heads up Activision's Consumer Products Group, and he says it's important to carefully consider how to adapt the game for the big screen.
"Anytime you take a franchise as storied as this, with this kind of legacy, and expand it into a new form factor you have to be really careful," Kilpin told MCV. "So frankly, if the script and the story isn't right we won't do it; it's not one of those situations where someone is saying, 'I don't care just get it made!'; that's not what's happening. We do think that if it's done well it has the opportunity to expand the base audience, beyond the traditional foundation that the game appeals to."
Kilpin went on to suggest that a Call of Duty movie may be able to help expand the profile of the already-massive series. The thinking is that Call of Duty is an M-rated game, meaning that theoretically it appeals to a relatively smaller pool of people.
"As an M-rated game, it's a core audience and we do think there's an opportunity to reach a little more broadly than that; if the storytelling is done well, that's the key," he said.
Activision is hoping to create a Marvel-style universe for its Call of Duty movies. Activision Studios executive Nick van Dyk said in a previous interview that fans can expect the Call of Duty films to resemble the games in terms of tone.
"It's going to have the same sort of high-adrenaline, high-energy aesthetic as the game, but it's not a literal adaptation," he said. "It's a much more broad and inclusive, global in scope ... a big, tentpole, Marvel-esque movie."
Also in the MCV interview, Kiplin briefly discussed the possibility of an Overwatch movie. Asked if an Overwatch movie might be possible after the Call of Duty film, Kiplin said, "We would like that very much." That's hardly confirmation of anything at all, but it's still exciting to think about considering how wonderful the Overwatch shorts have been.
The next Tekken 7 DLC character has been announced--and it's a surprising one. Bandai Namco today announced that Final Fantasy XV's Noctis Lucis Caelum is coming to the fighting game in Spring 2018.
As you can see in the announcement trailer below, Noctis wields his trademark Engine Blade to do a lot of up-close-and-personal damage. He can also use magic. Additionally, you can see that there is also apparently a new Final Fantasy XV stage coming to Tekken 7 with Noctis. Check out the trailer below.
Tekken 7 is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. While Noctis isn't coming to the game until 2018, Geese Howard, from the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters franchises, is launching in December--you can see some new gameplay footage here.
For more on Tekken 7, you can read our Tekken 7 review in which GameSpot's own Peter Brown awarded it an 8/10 and stated, "While some of this depth will be lost or out of reach for newcomers, there's enough fun to be had outside of hardcore competition to keep players from all walks of gaming thoroughly entertained."
More than 6,000 games have been released on Steam so far this year--and there is still more than a month left before 2017 is out. This number comes from industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, who works for Niko Partners.
As Ahmad points out, 6,000 is nearly equal to the total number of games released on Steam in the decade between 2005 and 2015. It's up from more than 4,200 games released on Steam in 2016 (via GI.biz). Here is the dramatic-looking chart that Ahmad put together to highlight the dramatic rise in Steam releases.
A quick update to the number of games released on Steam chart.
This is as of early November. Year isn't over yet and there have already been more than 6,000 games released on Steam this year.
In 2014, Valve released the "Steam Discovery" update to help users find what they're looking for amid the onslaught of new releases. The update added new personalised recommendations based on your gameplay, as well as new search and discovery tools.

Lego Marvel Superheroes 2 -- November 14
Tuesday is home to the latest Lego game for the whole family, and this Marvel sequel ups the ante by mashing together all sorts of different universes and characters from the comics. You'll have plenty of heroes to build and bricks to collect with this one.
The lie-detecting, crime solving game is making its way to new consoles. All versions include the base game and every DLC case, while the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions also offer 4K support. As for the Nintendo Switch port, that version has special motion and touch controls.
No matter which era of Star Wars you grew up with, Battlefront II has something for you. Maps and heroes borrow from every trilogy, and the sequel finally brings something fans clamored for from the start: a proper single-player campaign with original characters.
If you're ready to return to Alola, these souped-up versions of Sun and Moon are for you. New Z-Moves and Ultra Beasts await you, and you can actually travel through wormholes to find the Beasts on their home turf. New photo options and surfing routes between the islands are here too.
If you haven't picked up one of the many versions of Skyrim yet, you get two new chances this week. The Nintendo Switch version has special Zelda-themed gear and motion controls via the Joy-Cons, while the PlayStation VR version offers new motion controls of its own. Both versions include the full game and all of its expansions.
Pokemon Go developer Niantic Labs recently announced a new Pokemon AR game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Some wondered what this might mean for the ongoing development and support of Pokemon Go. Now, Niantic has pledged that it is staying "100 percent committed" to Pokemon Go, with more "amazing features" coming soon.
"We are 100% committed to creating an ever-changing and growing game that gets our players exploring, meeting each other, and deepening their connection to the Pokemon universe," Niantic explained in a blog post (via DualShockers). "We're actively expanding the Pokemon GO development team to build many more amazing features in 2018."
Niantic plans to start talking about "upcoming improvements to certain features" in Pokemon Go this week, so keep checking back for more.
Niantic also pointed out that it is working on Wizards Unite alongside the game development team at Harry Potter publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, so it's sharing some of the workload. Additionally, support for Niantic's earlier game, Ingress, continues. All three teams--Ingress, Pokemon Go, and Wizards Unite--are hiring right now.
Wizards Unite, which is due to launch in 2018 for mobile devices, lets players walk around the world world collecting power-ups, defending locations, and exploring their environment. You can read more about the game here in GameSpot's previous coverage.
