As expected, Apple revealed several new iterations of the iPhone during its Keynote 2018 address. In addition to the iPhone XS and the bigger XS Max--this year's follow-ups to the iPhone X--Apple unveiled the rumored "budget" version of the handset, the iPhone Xr.
As 9to5Mac reported ahead of the Keynote, the phone will feature a 6.1-inch, edge-to-edge LCD screen that Apple calls the Liquid Retina Display. This gives the device a bigger display than an iPhone 8 Plus in a smaller overall handset. The phone comes in three different storage sizes--64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB--and will be available in six finishes: black, white, red, yellow, blue, and coral.
Apple bills the iPhone Xr as "the iPhone X experience in an LCD display." It boasts the same set of features found in other iPhone X models. Like those, the phone doesn't have a home button; rather, you simply tap to wake it and swipe up to return to the home screen. It offers an hour and a half more battery life than the iPhone 8 Plus and features haptic touch and Face ID.
The iPhone Xr starts at $749. It launches on October 26, with pre-orders beginning on October 19. The other newly revealed iPhone models, the XS and XS Max, start at $999 and $1099, respectively, and launch later this month on September 21.
There were many other announcements during Apple's Keynote 2018 address, such as a new Apple Watch Series 4. You can catch up on all of the news from the presentation in our full Apple Keynote recap. You can also find more coverage of the Apple Keynote 2018 below and on GameSpot's sister site, CNET.
Apple held its annual September media event to announce, among other things, the new iPhones for 2018. Whether you're the type of person who buys the new iPhone every year or your current phone is getting creaky with age and it's time to upgrade, you're probably wondering when these new devices will come out. Let's break down the new iPhone release dates.
Three new iPhones are heading our way: the XS, XS Max, and the XR. The iPhone XS (pronounced "ten ess") and XS Max are the updated version of last year's iPhone X. The XS has a 5.8-inch OLED display, while the XS Max has a 6.5-inch display. Both devices have stereo audio output, a dual-camera system, True Tone displays, and Face ID security that lets you unlock your phone just by looking at it.
They come in gold, silver, and space gray. The price for the iPhone XS starts at $999 for the 64 GB model and goes up from there for 256 GB and 512 GB. The XS Max starts at $1,099 for the same amounts of storage
Apple also announced the iPhone XR during the presentation. It's a more affordable version of the XS, and it comes in a number of bright colors. It has an LCD screen instead of OLED and has a single camera instead of a dual camera. The XR has a 6.1-inch screen, which lands it right between the XS and XS Max in terms of size. It starts at $749 for the 64 GB model and will cost more for its 128 GB and 256 GB models.
iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR Release Dates
iPhone XS: September 21 (pre-orders start September 14)
iPhone XS Max: September 21 (pre-orders start September 14)
iPhone XR: October 26 (available for pre-order October 19)
You can find more information about Apple's iPhone keynote 2018, including information about the Apple Watch Series 4, in the stories below.
After many rumors, lots of speculation, and a name leak this morning, Apple has revealed the iPhone XS and Phone XS Max and confirmed their release dates. At its event in Cupertino, California, the company announced its latest product offerings in one of its biggest launches since the iPhone was first released.
The iPhone XS is made of "surgical grade stainless steel" with a gold finish on the front and back. It features a top to bottom, edge to edge screen with curved edges. It delivers 1P68 protection, keeping it safe underwater for 2 meters for 30 mins. The screen is 5.8" diagonally at a 2436x1125 resolution, which is being called the "Super Retina."
The 6.5-inch version is called the iPhone XS Max is the largest phone in Apple's history. Despite the bigger display size, the overall phone is about the same size as the iPhone 8 Plus. You'll be able to get a split view when looking at the contacts app if the phone is turned sideways, giving owners extra space to work with. The iPhone XS and XS Max also support Dolby Vision and HDR10.
At the heart of the device is the A12 Bionic, a seven nanometer chip featuring 6.9 billion transistors. Its 6-core CPU is designed by Apple with two performance cores that run 15% faster, while the four efficiency cores run at 50% faster. The 4-core GPU is also 50% faster than the A11 Bionic. It also has a Neural Engine with an 8-core design. The upshot is that everything from image signal processing and the depth engine, to the display engine, memory controller, and audio subsystems are significantly better performing. With 512 GB of internal storage, Apple describes it as "the smartest and most powerful chip ever in a smartphone."
iOS is also getting an update, being fitted with new features such as Siri shortcuts, which let you set reminders and instructions. Augmented reality is also a focus for the new version, and users will be able to use the camera to transform their surroundings with AR.
During the keynote, Bethesda's Todd Howard appeared on stage to talk about The Elder Scrolls Blades. The iPhone's OLED screen, Howard noted, pulls out little details in the game's environment and allows Bethesda to show off advance visual flourishes, the kinds of which were only possible on high-end consoles.
The camera has undergone some improvements for the newest iPhones too, thanks in large part to the A12 Bionic. It has a 12MP wide-angle camera, an improved True Tone flash, and a 12MP telephoto camera on the back. On the front there's an RGB camera, an IR camera for advance image sensing, and a dot projector. The A12 Bionic's image signal processor automatically sets exposure, noise reduction, focus, local tone mapping, highlights details. It also does face detection, facial landmarking, and segmentation.
One new feature for the camera is Smart HDR, which captures multiple images so you get the precise moment and merges them together to bring up the highlights. Since there's no shutter lag, images of things in motion are clearer. Portrait mode lighting has been improved and when you take a picture you can use a slider to adjust the depth of field. The new sensor and the power of the A12 Bionic chip, along with the faster sensor, is also beneficial to video, which now records sound in stereo, autofocuses, highlights shadow details, tone mapping, and improves color, among other things.
The impact all of this has on battery life isn't significant, with the iPhone XS offering 30 mins more battery than the iPhone X. And the iPhone XS Max providing an extra hour and a half. The XS and XS Mas now has Dual Sim Dual Standby and eSIM technology, which effectively allows owners to have two phone numbers and plans at the same time. Carriers such as EE, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile have already pledged support to eSIM. For China, where eSIM isn't available, there's a special version of the phone with space for two physical sims.
iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available in 64 GB, 256 GB, and 512GB starting from $999 and $1099 respectively. Preorders begin September 14 and shipping begins September 21.
For more on the new iPhones and Apple's event head over to CNET to watch the stream and follow their liveblog. Today's announcements follows some clever reporting by 9to5Mac, which seemed to confirm that new iPhones. There were many other new products revealed at Apple's event. Here is everything announced today.
Apple's big annual event to reveal new iPhones is ongoing, and as expected, it's begun to announce an array of new products coming in the near future. Apple led the event with the Apple Watch Series 4, a gorgeous-looking new version of its smartwatch. It followed that with a pair of new phones, the iPhone XS and XS Max.
Below, we're rounding up the essential information on all of the big announcements from the event. We'll continue to update this as the keynote continues, so stay tuned for much more news about any others iPhones and more.
Apple Watch Series 4
Apple led its event with the announcement of Apple Watch Series 4, the next evolution of its smartwatch. It features a refined look, with a display that extends further toward the edges and has curved corners. Series 4 watches are also larger--they come in 40mm and 44mm watch face sizes, although Apple says the overall volume of the devices are smaller than their predecessors.
A wide variety of new watch faces were showcased, including one that could feature as many as eight complications. There is also expanded support for third-party apps on the watch face; we saw how the MLB At Bat app could show the box score for a baseball game, for instance. Apple also highlighted the watches' louder speakers and other improvements, as well as new health-related features such as the ability to detect when the wearer falls down (triggering new options for altering emergency services or contacts).
Series 4 watches release on September 21 and will be priced at $399 or $499 for the cellular version.
Next during the keynote was the new iPhones. First up was the iPhone XS--pronounced "ten ess"--that serves as the follow-up to last year's pricier iPhone X. It features an edge-to-edge screen with curved sides, coming in three finishes: gold, silver, and space gray. It features a 5.8-inch screen when measured diagonally; despite being greater than the iPhone 8 Plus's screen size, it's actually a smaller overall phone.
The XS screen is a Super Retina OLED display featuring a 2436x1125 resolution with many of the expected features, like True Tone and HDR10 support. The phone offers Face ID, improved speakers, better CPU and GPUs, and more. It also boasts improved cameras on the front and back, which the company spent a great deal of time showcasing. The battery lasts up to 30 minutes longer than that of the iPhone X.
Pre-orders begin on September 14, with a release date set for September 21. It starts at $999 and comes in 64 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB sizes.
Alongside the iPhone XS is the XS Max. This is the new name for what's previously been known as the Plus model--it's essentially a larger XS. It has a 6.5-inch OLED display with a 2688x1242 resolution. And again, despite a much larger screen than the 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus, it's roughly the same size as that phone. The battery life offers up to 90 minutes more than the iPhone X.
Similar to the XS, its release date is set for September 21, while pre-orders begin on September 14. The sizes are the same--64 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB--and it starts at $1099.
While not a new announcement, Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls: Blades was featured during the keynote. Todd Howard came on stage to showcase the game and what the iPhone XS's new A12 chip makes possible in terms of visual effects. He also reaffirmed Blades' release date is set for sometime this fall; it's available for pre-order now.
Alongside the iPhone XS and XS Max, which are Apple's high-end devices, the company is also introducing another new phone, the iPhone XR. This is said to offer an iPhone X-style experience (there's no home button, for instance), but it's equipped with an LCD screen, rather than the fancier OLED displayed offered on the XS and XS Max. The 6.1-inch display--with what's called Liquid Retina tech--does still extend to the edges, though.
The camera has the same tech as that of the XS and XS Max, even offering Portrait mode; it's equipped with the A12 Bionic chip; and the battery life compared with the iPhone 8 Plus can last 90 minutes longer.
XR pre-orders begin on October 19, with a release date on October 26. It starts at $749, making it cheaper than the iPhone 8 Plus.
With the launch of Marvel's Spider-Man, there's a lot of love going around for superhero games. After all, that game that exudes passion for the character at every turn, taking advantage of a wealth of iconic characters and story arcs to feed into your fantasy. But there's technically another superhero game coming out this year that displays the same fervor, if not more: Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise.
Developed by the same studio behind the beloved Yakuza series, Lost Paradise is based on the incredibly influential Fist of the North Star manga and anime series. Set in a world devastated by nuclear war, it stars Kenshiro, the heroic practitioner and successor of Hokuto Shinken, a fighting style that utilizes pressure points to make foes implode (among a variety of other ridiculous possible effects). After having his fiancee Yuria kidnapped by longtime rival Shin, Kenshiro must embark on an adventure to rescue his beloved.
If you're unfamiliar with the Fist of the North Star series, you can take comfort in knowing that the game actually takes place in an alternate-timeline separate from narrative path of the original series, so newcomers are welcome to jump in without worry. However, Yakuza players will likely feel right at home with Lost Paradise. It's very much cut from the same cloth, packed full of serious melodrama juxtaposed with absurdist humor. Admittedly, Kenshiro and Kiryu are both similar in their ideals of heroism and honor, which should make for an easy transition for Yakuza fans experiencing Fist of the North Star for the first time.
It's worth noting that the game is actually built off the same engine used to make both Yakuza 0 and Kiwami. This might throw off fans who have become comfortable with series' new Dragon Engine in Yakuza 6 and Kiwami 2. However, this step backward shouldn't detract from what appears to be the best aspect of Lost Paradise: its handling of the Fist of the North Star property and how it elevates Kenshiro to superhero status.
Lost Paradise's delivery of Kenshiro's over-the-top fighting style is immediately impressive. The Yakuza series' uncomplicated beat 'em up-style fighting system seems like a perfect fit, offering you easy access to a flashy and deadly arsenal of attacks and pressure point techniques. Kenshiro's punching flurries, swift kicks, and graceful acrobatics are faithfully brought to life. The force of their impact in motion captures the empowerment of their execution from the series. Enemies are always a combo or QTE away from blowing up into a bloody mess, which is fitting given how effortless Kenshiro makes it seem in the series. It all made for a familiar yet satisfying combat system that hones in on making you feel like the messianic martial artist.
Despite the new timeline, Lost Paradise pulls from Fist of the North Star's treasure trove of colorful characters to fill in the blanks around Kenshiro. The fan-favorite Rei--practitioner of the elegantly lethal Nanto Suicho Ken style--made a brief appearance during a sub story to help me free children from an underground slavery market. I even encountered Bat, the charming young thief who often follows Kenshiro around during his travels. While I only got to spend a brief amount of time with them, the presence of familiar faces had me eager to see how they'd be further implemented into this game's fresh take of the universe.
Spider-Man developer Insomniac altered the famed crime fighter's history and relationships to iconic characters, like Doctor Octopus and Mary-Jane. These changes were unexpected, but refreshing to experience for both newcomers and Spider-Man fans. So, I'm curious as to how the Yakuza developers will handle Fist of the North Star in Lost Paradise. What will change? What will remain faithful? As a huge fan of the series, these questions are what excite me the most.
All this might not mean much if you've never read or watched Fist of the North Star, but whether you're a fan or not, Lost Paradise's incredible attitude and confident style are infectious. If Insomniac can entice non-Spidey fans to warm up to the hero by delivering high-flying acrobatics and a wealth of combat abilities, Sega may very well make Kenshiro a few new friends in the real world by giving him a game to do what he does best: punching baddies and making them explode.
Lost Paradise is coming to PS4 in just a few short weeks, so come back in early October to see if Kenshiro's latest adventure has shaped up to be everything we hoped it could be. If you want to get a taste of the game right now, you can also download a demo on PSN that includes a free PS4 theme as a bonus.
During Apple's 2018 iPhone keynote, Bethesda's Todd Howard took the stage to show how The Elder Scrolls: Blades will run on the new iPhone XS. The segment followed details about the improved technology in the newly announced XS and XS Max, including the new A12 Bionic chip, which has increased processing power and a GPU that's 50% faster than last year's chip.
The focus of the segment was how the new iPhone tech will enhance the mobile gaming experience. Howard discussed how the XS' OLED screen allows for a high amount of visual detail in both light and dark areas of the game; he also highlighted precision touch controls for sword movements and haptic feedback for attacks.
Originally announced at E3 2018, The Elder Scrolls: Blades is described as a "uniquely mobile experience" with "console-quality graphics." It has the same kind of combat as previous Elder Scrolls games as well as a town-building mechanic and PvP.
The Elder Scrolls: Blades is coming to iOS and Android this fall. It will be free and is currently available for pre-order on Bethesda's website.
Apple has shown off the next iteration of its Apple Watch, which has been "redesigned and re-engineered." Revealed during its keynote, the company showed off the Series 4's bigger screen, which utilises a new user interface to make use of the additional real estate. We also got a release date and prices for the various models.
To make the most of the extra space, there are now new customization options for faces and Complications. The modular face can now surface more detailed information from stocks and healths apps. The Breathe app will now be available as a watch face and will guide you through a deep breath exercise when you raise your wrist. Other dynamic watch faces that interact with the larger screen and its curved edges.
The Digital Crown now has haptic feedback and the speaker has been redesigned to be 50 percent louder, which is handy for phone calls and talking to Siri. The microphone has been shifted away from the speaker to reduce echo, while the back of the Series 4 Apple Watch is made of black ceramic and sapphire crystal. Radio waves can pass through the front and the back, which means better reception.
Inside the device is the S4 chip with a dual-core 64-bit processor, which deliverers 2x faster performance. The accelerometer gyroscope has been improved significantly too, to the point where it can tell when a wearer has fallen over. If it senses you're immobile for more than a minute it starts informing emergency services.
Three new heart features were also announced. The first is a notification when your heart rate is too low. Apple Watch can also screen your heart rhythm in the background and send you information if it detects atrial fibrillation. The final new feature is the ability to take electrocardiograms (ECG); this is the first time an ECG product has been offered over the counter to consumers, according to Apple. Built in electrodes in the back of the watch and the Digital Crown detect electrical signals from the heart and the S4 chip processes this information, before surfacing it to the wearer in the Health app. This information can be exported as a .pdf file and given to doctors. All this data, Apple says, will be protected, as the information is encrypted on the devices and in the cloud.
The Apple Watch Series 4's battery life has the same 18-hour battery life as its predecessors, even with the enhancements.
Series 4 will be available in silver, gold, and space grey. A stainless collection will also be available, alongside a gold stainless finish. Band colours and styles that are already available will still fit the new watch. Apple Watch Series 4 starts at $399 with GPS, $499 with cellular and will be available to order from September 14 and picked up from September 21. The Series 3 Apple Watch will drop in price to $279. The latest version of WatchOS, meanwhile, will launch on September 17.
[UPDATE] Warner has now released a statement following reports that Henry Cavill will no longer play Superman in the DC Universe. It reads: "While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we've always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged."
Original story below.
Henry Cavill was first announced in the role of Superman back in 2011, and to date he has appeared in three DC movies--Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. However, it has now been reported that he is set to leave the DC Universe and will not play the character again.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC was looking to include a Superman cameo in next year's Shazam. However, negotiations with Cavill broke down, and with the studio increasingly moving away from the current version of their superhero universe, the actor is unlikely to reprise the role.
THR's sources state that negotiations failed due to scheduling issues, potentially with the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher that Cavill was recently cast in. However, there is also a suggestion that he took the Witcher job after failing to reach an agreement with DC. The site also states that there is a Supergirl movie in the works, which will be an origin story featuring a "teen superheroine," a storyline that is unlikely to have a place for an adult Superman.
In any case, it seems that the DC Universe is undergoing yet another shake-up. While Shazam, the upcoming Aquaman, and next year's Wonder Woman 1984 are technically part of the existing universe, the Joker origin movie that is about to start production is not. In addition, Ben Affleck is not expected to play Batman again, and the standalone Batman movie that is currently in development is likely to star another actor as the Caped Crusader.
Cavill's involvement with The Witcher TV show was confirmed last week, after the actor hinted about it last month. He will play Geralt in the Netflix show, which is expected to premiere in 2020. The eight-part show will be based on the fantasy novel series written by Andrzej Sapkowski, on which the games are also based..
The fifth and final season of Fox's Batman prequel series Gotham won't debut until 2019, but the show is currently in production in New York City and has just enlisted a very interesting new cast member. Nikita alum Shane West will appear as a villain in the final episodes of the show, in a role that opens the door to quite a bit of speculation.
According to Deadline, West will play Eduardo Dorrance. The character is a friend of Jim Gordon's (Ben McKenzie) from his days in the military. Now, with Gotham City having become No Man's Land, he has arrived with a group of elite soldiers to restore order. However, it becomes apparent that he has his own evil ends in mind with the task.
For those that know the Batman universe, the name Eduardo Dorrance might sound familiar. In the comics, Sir Edmund Dorrance is the villain known as King Snake. Edmund also happens to be the father of none other than Bane. While Bane's true first name has never been revealed in the comics, this new character could be a potential suspect.
After all, with Gotham ending, it seems logical to introducer another major Batman villain--and Bane might be the biggest one the show has yet to tackle. As it stands, Penguin, The Riddler, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy all play major roles in the show. What's more, the series has also woven in the likes of Ra's al Ghul, Mad Hatter, Solomon Grundy, Azrael, and Harvey Dent into its stories over four seasons. And, of course, the show has its own take on Joker with the dueling characters of Jerome and Jeremiah--both played by Cameron Monaghan. With a rogue's gallery of baddies like that, Bane could be a perfect fit.
Of course, Gotham could also try something completely new. With this being the final stretch of episodes, though, our money is on West becoming Bane. That should prove to be very interesting for the shows young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), as he continues his journey to become Batman. Hopefully, Bane doesn't break his spine too quickly.
As the weather starts to turn chilly, Hearthstone is offering a special bundle and in-game events to match. Next week Blizzard will kick off the "Days of the Frozen Throne" event, featuring a new Tavern Brawl, new quests and loot, and a specially priced bundle.
The event celebrates the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion, which launched in August 2017. That expansion was the first to introduce the new Hero card type, in the form of nine distinct Death Knights. If you're still missing some Death Knights, you can pick up a "Bundle Up Bundle" next week that will offer 30 Frozen Throne packs for $20. That's roughly double the usual packs at that price, but keep in mind that those cards will rotate out of Standard play next spring when the new year launches.
The week will also mark a special Tavern Brawl, which has both players begin the game as one of the Death Knights. You can also score a free Golden Happy Ghoul card just for logging in, and two special Legendary quests will offer a whopping 300 gold apiece.
The event kicks off on September 19 and lasts through September 24. Knights of the Frozen Throne was one of the most impactful expansions in recent Hearthstone play, and many of the Death Knights still see regular competitive play. Since then Blizzard has been releasing new Hero cards as central characters of the stories in later expansions: Hagatha the Witch in The Witchwood expansion, and Dr. Boom, Mad Genius in The Boomsday Project expansion. One more expansion is planned for this Standard rotation year, which is likely to fall in this calendar year.
Just hours before Apple's 2018 iPhone event--which starts very soon--the names of its new products have seemingly leaked online ahead of the livestream. The source of the leak? Apple itself.
The tech giant's product sitemap XML file displayed the names iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, reports All Things How. The names have since been removed, but nevertheless the leak seemingly confirms what we'll be seeing in Apple's livestream in a few hours' time.
The XS is supposedly the follow-up to last year's iPhone X and Apple's new flagship smartphone. The XS Max is simply a larger version of the XS, while the XR is reportedly a new "budget" option--with a rumored starting price of $699 in the US.
Rumors had also indicated Apple's plans to reveal a new Apple Watch, iPad Pro, and AirPod headphones at the event in Cupertino, California; the latest leaks did not mention any of those, so it's unclear if those reports are accurate.
Either way, we won't need to wait long to find out. The event kicks off at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST on September 12 (3 AM AET in Australia). Here's how to watch the 2018 iPhone reveal event and what to expect; for more check out a full preview of the Apple event from GameSpot sister site CNET.
Every year, 2K's WWE series boasts an incredibly large roster, and this year will be no different. Before the newest announcement, there were already over 140 playable characters in WWE 2K19. Now, a new batch of legends have been revealed. Get ready to book some dream matches.
Smackdown superstars Rusev and Lana hosted the video from 2K once again, and they were joined by Cesaro and Sheamus. Throughout the presentation, some huge names from the past were revealed, including Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, Big Boss Man, and more. In total, so far, there are over 180 playable in this game now. It's one of the largest rosters for the series to date.
This year's game features the return of Showcase mode, where you play through a WWE superstar's career. This time around, Daniel Bryan is featured. You'll start the story in his first WWE match against John Cena, when Bryan was called Bryan Danielson. From there, you'll traverse his journey to become WWE Champion, his early retirement from injury, and his triumphant return to WWE.
While WWE 2K19 is coming to PS4 and Xbox One, it will be skipping out on a Switch edition this year. "WWE 2K19 will not be available on Nintendo Switch," a 2K spokesperson said. "2K is focused on making the best possible experience for WWE 2K fans and will continue evaluating all opportunities to deliver the franchise across additional platforms."
WWE 2K19 will be available on October 9, but the Deluxe "Woo" Edition lets you play four days early.
Although Alan Wake was released in May 2010 for the Xbox 360, the gaming population hasn't forgotten Wake's adventure through idyllic Washington. And while that may have been eight years ago, Alan Wake is reportedly making a return to the big screen--the big TV screen.
According to Variety, a live-action Alan Wake television adaption is in development, with Peter Calloway (Cloak & Dagger, Legion) serving as writer and Sam Lake (Max Payne, Alan Wake) serving as executive producer. Remedy Entertainment--the developers of both Alan Wake and Max Payne--and Contradiction Films--the production company behind video game-to-movie adaptations Mortal Kombat: Legacy and Dead Rising: Watchtower--are allegedly collaborating on the project.
"Alan Wake was basically a TV series that was put into a game. That was Sam's vision. It was influenced by The Twilight Zone, Secret Window, Hitchcock, Northern Exposure, a lot of U.S. television," Contradiction partner Thomas Harlan said. "We plan to work closely with Sam on [this] show. Sam is a huge part of this. This is his baby."
Harlan noted that this Alan Wake TV adaptation won't tell a story that follows the game beat-for-beat. However, Lake declined to comment on whether the show's story will be part of the official Alan Wake universe. "In a story like Alan Wake, a story filled with mystery and questions, answering this one would be a spoiler," Lake said.
While there's no release date for the Alan Wake TV show yet, Harlan said he intends to pitch the show in October. Harlan's also confirmed that there's some interest from a number of studios, but he hasn't explicitly named these studios.
Furthermore, it seems Lake isn't ready to talk about an Alan Wake 2. "That would be a dream of mine," he said. "[But] at the moment, there is no news of any further Alan Wake games. As before, we're exploring these possibilities and hoping to make it happen when the time is right."
Epic Games has released the patch notes for Fortnite's 5.40 content update, confirming everything that is being tweaked, changed, and added to the game's Battle Royale and Save the World modes on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. The most notable part of the update is the introduction of the Suppressed Assault Rifle.
The new Suppressed Assault Rifle will let Battle Royale players take out enemies quietly. On Epic's official Fortnite website, the weapon is said to reward precision over rapid fire. It can be found in Vending Machines, floor loot, Treasure Chests, and Supply Drops, and is also available in Epic and Legendary variants. If you manage to score one of these versions, you'll do 32/33 damage per shot.
To make way for the Suppressed Assault Rifle, the Drum Gun has been vaulted, which means it is no longer available to use.
In Save the World, meanwhile, Field Agent Rio joins the battle, and there's also a new set of Weekly Horde Challenges. For these, shields are considerably less useful as Husks are more aggressive. You can see the full patch notes for Save the World here and take a look at the Battle Royale notes below.

On this week's roster reveal from 2K, Rusev and Lana revealed the latest WWE 2K19 playable superstars with Cesaro and Sheamus, also known as The Bar. The focus for this batch was legendary WWE wrestlers. The large reveal had a few new additions to the game, including Ted DiBiase, who has been only a manager in previous games. Additionally, fan favorites like Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Booker T will be included in the new game.
Fans of both Daniel Bryan are going to be very happy as 2K is bringing back Showcase Mode for WWE 2K19, which follows the career of the superstar. From his first match as Bryan Danielson to his feuds with The Miz, it will be covered in the upcoming game. One of the selling points for WWE 2K series is the gigantic roster, which WWE 2K19 will have. This year's edition will undoubtedly have a plethora of superstars to choose from when the game releases on October 9, 2018. Last year's WWE 2K18 ended up with over 180 wrestlers--the largest in the history of the series--and while 2K isn't boasting this year's edition will topple that, yet, it should still be more than any player can handle.
It's early, and there still aren't specific details about gameplay, aside from the Million Dollar Challenge, which takes place within the new Challenge Mode. However, there have already been a few announcements for characters on the roster, including cover star AJ Styles and pre-order bonus characters Ronda Rousey and Rey Mysterio. Additionally, the $130 Wooooo! Edition of the game has been announced which comes with a bunch of exclusives including a season pass, exclusive roster additions, a piece of Ric Flair's robe, early access to play, and more.
This year's edition will be skipping Nintendo Switch, after last year's port featured a bevy of problems from frame rate issues to resolution dropping down to 540p, even in docked mode. However, the game will still be released in early October for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. If you're interested in pre-ordering WWE 2K19, check out our pre-order guide, with all the info about what each edition contains, where to buy it, and pricing.
