Update: The Nomura-designed Joker figure is now available for preorder in the US through Square Enix's online store. It's priced at $300 and is expected out this October.
Original Story: Square Enix's popular Play Arts Kai line of figures is getting a new addition later this year. Like some of those we've seen in the past, this one features a design by one of the company's most prominent developers.
The Joker figure pictured below was designed by Tetsuya Nomura, who is best known for his work on the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts series (he's currently directing both Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake). The figure--which was first revealed at New York Comic-Con last year--stands 285 mm tall (about 11 inches), according to an Amazon Japan listing, and offers quite a bit of customization.
The figure comes with seven different facial mods, with different faces and masks available to equip. There are are also different hand options and a set of machine-like arms that appear to be quite flexible in terms of how they're used. You can see all of this in the gallery above (images via Figsoku).
Square Enix has not yet announced a western release for the figure, although the company has released many of its Play Arts Kai figures around the world in the past. This particular one arrives in Japan on September 30 for 32,184 yen (about $288/£222).
The latest free game to be offered through Twitch has been announced, and you can pick it up right now.
Gone Home, the story-based adventure game, is now a free download for anyone with a Twitch Prime membership (which is one of the perks of Amazon Prime). It can be claimed for free from now through June 7.
You can add Gone Home to your library by visiting the game's Twitch page. Claim your copy from there and you'll be able to download and play the full game through the Twitch desktop app.
Gone Home was critically acclaimed upon its original release back in 2013. In GameSpot's review, critic Carolyn Petit awarded the game a 9.5, stating, "With excellent writing and remarkable attention to period detail, Gone Home turns the process of exploring a house into a captivating and deeply poignant journey of discovery."
Twitch offers free PC games to Prime members from time to time, although availability doesn't follow the same sort of schedule as PlayStation Plus or Games With Gold. The past few weeks alone have offered Deponia, Titan Souls, and Oxenfree.

The recently announcedSwitch version of Monster Hunter XX is releasing alongside a special-edition console when it launches in Japan this August, and now some new images of the bundle have made their way online (via fansite Japanese Nintendo).
The bundle includes a copy of the game and a Monster Hunter-themed Switch. Capcom had previously shared a picture of the console's dock, which is emblazoned with a Monster Hunter pattern, but the new images reveal that the Switch itself also has a Monster Hunter trim and design on its backside. Along with that, we have a clear picture of the box that houses it all.
Monster Hunter remains one of Japan's biggest game franchises. News that the game would be coming to Switch helped bump Nintendo's rising stock to its highest point since October 2008. The special-edition Switch bundle sold out almost immediately after it was announced, though there's no telling if Capcom will begin selling the empty box (as Nintendo is doing for the Splatoon 2 bundle).
Monster Hunter XX is also available for 3DS, though that version is likewise only available in Japan. Capcom hasn't announced if it plans to bring either version to the West, but the publisher has localized other recent installments in the series, including the original Monster Hunter X, which is known here as Monster Hunter Generations.
It appears that a new Tropico game is on the way: Calypso, developer of the banana republic-building series, has released a short teaser video starring Tropico's authoritarian main character, El Presidente.
The teaser begins with a few clips from radio broadcasts that all refer to current events. "Plans for the wall have been approved," one says, possibly referring to President Donald Trump's calls for a border wall between Mexico and the United States. "The UK has left the European Union," another states, alluding to the recent vote on Brexit.
Then, the video shows El Presidente picking up his phone and using a Twitter-like social media platform to post, "Time to get back into the game." You can see the video above.
Although the video is titled simply "Rule Again" and Calypso hasn't yet announced a title, it seems like a good bet that it's Tropico 6. "In times of political turmoil and social unrest, the people are calling out for a visionary leader, one who will steer the fate of their country with foresight and ingenuity," the video description reads. "Will you answer that call?"
After a year away, Need for Speed returns later this year. Having already confirmed the game, EA plans to officially unveil the next entry in the series tomorrow, June 2.
The franchise's Twitter account tweeted out the image below, promising a "full reveal" of the game at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST. It also includes a link to the official YouTube channel, suggesting we'll be getting a trailer then. We'll have all the details here at GameSpot as they're announced.
EA published what may have been a teaser image of the game earlier this week. By turning down the brightness, you can make out what appears to be the Seattle skyline, including the Space Needle. A setting has not yet been announced, but that's a detail we'll likely learn about tomorrow.
Like the 2015 reboot, this new Need for Speed is developed by Ghost Games--but it will not require an online connection in order to play, as that game did. Customization and police pursuits will be a part of the game, but beyond that we don't know much else currently.
The new Need for Speed is due out sometime this year for unspecified platforms. The previous game was released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Splatoon 2, Nintendo Switch's colorful and chaotic shooter due out next month, will feature voice chat in multiplayer mode. We've now gotten a look at the (hefty) Splatoon 2-themed headset that will launch alongside the game courtesy of the Splatoon 2's Japanese Twitter account.
Fans no doubt expected something a little less clunky, with this configuration including a splitter that allows you to hear both voice chat from your phone and game audio from the system itself. According to an image published by 4Gamer, the splitter's cables are less than 20 inches long. The site also reports the headset will cost about US $32. We still don't know if you'll be able to use other headsets in the game.
In March, Nintendo revealed Splatoon 2 would have voice chat, using smart devices to link up to eight different Nintendo Switch systems together for local multiplayer.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War, the sequel to 2014's Shadow of Mordor, has been delayed from its intended August release date. The follow-up will now launch worldwide on October 10, 2017.
In a blog post, developer Monolith stated the reason for the delay was to ensure Shadow of War delivers "the highest quality experience."
"Middle-earth: Shadow of War expands gameplay in every dimension, including the massive open world, the story, the RPG systems, and personal player stories of the Nemesis System," the developer said. "As with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Monolith is committed to delivering the highest quality experience. In order to do this, we have made the difficult decision to move our launch date to ensure that Middle-earth: Shadow of War will deliver on that promise.
"We understand that it might be disappointing to have to wait a little longer for the release and are sorry for the delay, but we are working hard to make an amazing game. We're excited to show more at E3."
The open-world game was originally slated to launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 22 in North America. Today's announcement therefore represents a delay of almost two months. Although the new October date applies "worldwide," Monolith stated in its blog post that Australia and New Zealand's release dates may vary.
Iron Galaxy is often associated with fighting games, as it developed the last two seasons of Killer Instinct and the two-button fighter Divekick. But its new game, called Extinction, is an action game that looks similar to God of War or Attack on Titan.
The studio announced Extinction today with a cinematic trailer. In the game, players will fight against massive, 150-foot-tall ogres and armies of other creatures. Iron Galaxy describes the gameplay as built upon a "dynamic skill-based combat system," which requires players to "tactically disarm and dismember enemies" to weaken them before they can be killed. Check out the trailer below.
Although this isn't a gameplay trailer, it still gives an idea of the tone and style that Extinction is aiming for. Although there is certainly a level of gravitas given by hulking monsters rampaging through a city, the art looks stylized and colorful.
According to a press release, gameplay will be fast and fluid. You can wall-run, vault using your whip, and attack from the air as well as from the ground. In addition, environments will be destructible.
Extinction will have a story and sidequests, but it'll also have a custom battle editor that lets you create battles with different objectives. You can then challenge other people to complete these battles.
Iron Galaxy is planning to show off more of Extinction at E3 2017, so keep an eye on GameSpot for more news about the game in the coming weeks. It will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in Q1 2018.
505 Games is bringing the beautiful platformer/RPG hybrid Indivisible to Nintendo Switch, the publisher announced today.
Developed by Lab Zero, the studio behind Skullgirls, Indivisible takes players through a fantasy world inspired by various world cultures and mythologies. The game stars a young girl named Ajna, who discovers she has a mysterious power that allows her to "absorb certain individuals into her being." On her journey, she'll team up with "dozens" of other characters to battle foes and stop the warlord who destroyed her home village.
Indivisible was initially announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game was partly funded through a successful Indiegogo campaign and features a soundtrack scored by Hiroki Kikuta, the composer of Secret of Mana.
Indivisible is due to arrive for all platforms simultaneously in 2018. In the meantime, players who backed the title on Indiegogo will receive a special preview on PS4, Xbox One, or PC "in the coming weeks."
Although J.R.R. Tolkien is best known for The Lord of the Rings, he wrote many other stories during his life. Over the years, several of his earliest works have been released that give a glimpse of Tolkien's first attempts to construct fantasy tales and worlds. Today, 100 years after it was written, another of Tolkien's works has been published.
Beren and Luthien tells the story of a mortal man and an immortal elf who are tasked by Luthien's father to steal a Silmaril gem from Melkor, the greatest of the evil beings. The story was reworked and told in The Silmarillion, Tolkien's anthology of short stories and tales about Middle-earth. The theme of love between mortal man and immortal elf woman also shows up in The Lord of the Rings with the romance between Aragorn and Arwen.
This version of Beren and Luthienwas announced last year and has been put together by Tolkien's son, Christopher, who collected many iterations of the story to show its evolution. It is accompanied by illustrations by Alan Lee, an artist who previously worked on editions of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and other Tolkien books. You can see some of his illustrations above.
Tolkien originally wrote Beren and Luthien in 1917, after coming home from serving in the British Army in World War I. He was profoundly affected by the Battle of the Somme, specifically, and the loss of many of his close friends during the war. But Tolkien was also inspired by his interactions with Edith Mary Bratt, the woman he would eventually marry. "I never called Edith Luthien--but she was the source of the story that in time became the chief part of TheSilmarillion," he wrote in a letter in 1972. "It was first conceived in a small woodland glade filled with hemlocks at Roos in Yorkshire (where I was for a brief time in command of an outpost of the Humber Garrison in 1917, and she was able to live with me for a while)."
J.R.R. and Edith's shared gravestone in Oxford, England, is inscribed with the names Beren and Luthien.
You can pick up the book from most booksellers; it currently costs $15.49 on Amazon.
A couple of years ago, Christopher Tolkien released another early story from his father's collected works. Titled The Story of Kullervo, it shows a different attempt by Tolkien to take many influences from Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon folklore and turn it into a fantasy story. This, too, eventually would be reworked and end up in TheSilmarillion.
In other Tolkien news, multiple biopics are currently being made, according to The Hollywood Reporter. One of these, Tolkien & Lewis, will look at the author's friendship with Chronicles of Narnia writer C.S. Lewis and how he helped convert Lewis to Christianity. The other, called Tolkien, focuses on how he came to write the beloved fantasy series.
Switch owners will have another game option on the eShop beginning today, Nintendo has announced. It marks the second new release of the week.
Today's addition is the latest title in the ACA Neo Geo line: Last Resort. Unlike so many of the other Neo Geo games available on Switch, this isn't a fighting game; it's instead a classic side-scrolling shoot-em-up from 1992. It can be had for $8/£6.29.
Last Resort follows this week's earlier release, Astro Duel Deluxe. This is also a retro-style shooter, albeit a much more colorful one that is essentially an enhanced version of a game released on PC last year. It offers local multiplayer support for 1-6 players and costs $15/£12.59.

Netflix has announced all the shows and movies coming to and leaving the popular streaming service for June 2017.
Starting with new additions, the war movie Full Metal Jacket, 2000's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, M. Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense, and the David Fincher film Zodiac all debut on June 1. The Netflix original series Orange is the New Black returns for its fifth season on June 9, while the Netflix original movie involving a giant pig creature, Okja, starring Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Giancarlo Espositio premieres on June 28.
As for what's on the way out, movies that I enjoy maybe more than I should, D2: The Mighty Ducks and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, leave on June 1, alongside The Blair Witch Project and This Is Spinal Tap.
The two companies will collaborate on a "new high-end original title for console and PC." Specific consoles or even a hint of what kind of game this will be were not shared. People Can Fly's history would suggest an action game or shooter, but that's merely speculation at this point.
Job listings on People Can Fly's website suggest the game could have both a campaign and multiplayer component. Another calls for experience with "chokepoints, routes, lines of sight, [and] engagement distances," which would make sense if the project is indeed an action game. Of course, not all of these jobs are necessarily for the new Square Enix game, so take this all with a grain of salt.
Whatever the game might be, Square Enix says it won't be showing it at E3 later this month.
Koei Tecmo has launched the official Japanese website for Fire Emblem Warriors, and it contains some new screenshots of the upcoming Switch title.
Like Hyrule Warriors before it, Fire Emblem Warriors is a joint venture between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo that sees the classic franchise reinterpreted in the vein of Dynasty Warriors. The game features characters drawn from several Fire Emblem titles (primarily Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Fire Emblem Awakening, and Fire Emblem Fates) battling against waves of foes in large-scale, hack-and-slash clashes. The images posted on the game's website give us our first glimpse at its new twin protagonists, Shion and Lian, who were revealed in the most recent issue of Famitsu. The website also contains several screenshots of Chrom and Marth, the only two classic Fire Emblem heroes confirmed for the title thus far.
Despite the different gameplay style, Fire Emblem Warriors retains many traditional Fire Emblem elements, including the series' weapon triangle and support conversations. Classes also retain their distinctive characteristics; for example, Archers are effective against Pegasus Knights, while Cavaliers battle on horseback and have high mobility. According to Koei Tecmo, the game features more playable characters than the first installment of any other Warriors collaboration.
Fire Emblem Warriors is also in development for 3DS and is slated to arrive for both consoles this fall, though Nintendo has yet to announce a release date. With E3 2017 around the corner, however, the company is expected to reveal more information on the game soon.
Wii U owners have a much slimmer selection, though they can still get steep savings on some great titles. Like their 3DS counterparts, Resident Evil Revelations is on sale for $10, while Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate runs for $8. DuckTales Remastered is also on sale this week for $3.74.
The Capcom eShop sale is going on now and runs until Monday, June 5. You can find the full list of discounted titles on Nintendo's website.
Although Thor: Ragnarok won't be coming to theaters until November 3, those excited for the movie can look forward to the Lego versions of the characters and sets. The Ultimate Battle for Asgard and Thor vs. Hulk: Arena Clash are the two upcoming sets Lego available on August 1 in the US.
The Ultimate Battle for Asgard set, as seen above, comes with six figures: Thor, Bruce Banner, Valkyrie, Hela, and two Berserkers. In addition, there is a buildable Fenris wolf figure. The main attraction for the set is the Commodore spaceship. The set costs $50.
The Thor vs. Hulk: Arena Clash set--which is the site of the gladiator battle where Thor reunites with Hulk in the trailer--contains five figures: Thor, Loki, Hulk, Grandmaster, and a Sakaarian Guard. The arena has a sliding gate and a throne for Grandmaster. The $60 set also includes a few extra accessories.
2K Sports today announced the cover star for NBA 2K18. On the same day that the NBA Finals begins, 2K confirmed that one of the competitors, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, will be on the cover.
"It is well known that I'm an avid player of this series and I am honoured to be the cover athlete of NBA 2K18," Irving said in a statement. "It's surreal to be featured on the cover and I can't wait to dominate on the virtual court with all of my fans this fall."
Irving was the first overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, going on to win the Rookie of the Year award in 2012. He was named the MVP of the NBA All-Star Game in 2014 and of course won his first championship in 2016 with the Cavs.
Irving and his teammates are seeking back-to-back NBA championships, but have a tough road ahead, playing against the red-hot Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. NBA 2K17's simulation of the Finals predicted that the Warriors would win in an epic, seven-game series.
Irving, 24, is averaging 24.5 points per game in this year's playoffs, slightly down compared to last year, though he still has an entire series left. One of the NBA's elite point guards, it was only a matter of time before he was chosen for an NBA 2K cover. His performance in the Finals will be a big part of the Cavs being able to get it done and repeat.
Everyone who pre-orders NBA 2K18 in North America gets access to the game four days early, starting on September 15. In addition, pre-order shoppers get the following content:
For Honor's latest patch, version 1.08, is out now on PC, and publisher Ubisoft has shared what will be included in the new update.
Firstly, players will now face a penalty if they quit in the middle of a match. Ubisoft calls the punishment a "10-minute matchmaking penalty," but it doesn't elaborate on exactly what that entails. There will, however, be a 30-second grace period at the start of each match where you can quit without punishment "to account for incomplete groups/matchmaking issues." The penalty also "only applies to games played through matchmaking."
It's worth noting that although the quit penalty is included in update 1.08, Ubisoft says it will not be activated until an unknown, later date.
Elsewhere, the update introduces some small balance tweaks and bug fixes, meaning Shinobi is now immune to Guard Break while rolling, you'll now be rewarded for Player vs AI matches, and you'll no longer see the climbing animation when nowhere near a ladder.
The update will come to consoles "late next week." Take a look at the full patch notes here.
Sony is apparently gearing up to launch a gold variant of its PS4 Slim. A photo appearing to show packaging for the console was shared on Reddit via user Sliye, who claims the console will launch on June 9.
According to the packaging in the picture, the gold variant will include a 1 TB hard drive, though it's unclear if this is the only option that will be made available: the standard black PS4 Slim comes in both 500 GB and 1 TB variants.
Sony is yet to officially confirm the new model; GameSpot has contacted the publisher for comment. Sliye claims to work at US retailer Target, and that the color variant shows up on the store's internal systems.
If the leak is true, it's unclear whether the new edition will launch worldwide or just in the US: different PS4 versions are sometimes not available in all territories, or come to some territories far later than others.
Pokemon Go developer Niantic has told Brazilian newspaper O Globo that PvP battles and legendary Pokemon will come to the mobile game this summer.
Niantic's VP of strategic partnerships, Mathieu de Fayet, told the newspaper (translated by Reddit users Constyy and Hisucchi and verified by Google Translate) that the features were originally meant to launch earlier, but that Pokemon Go's success meant they had to be delayed.
"Due to the large success of the game, we had to delay some planned innovations," he said. "Right now we are working on some that are due to hit this summer (in the northern hemisphere), such as giving more value to the choice of the teams, releasing Legendary Pokemon and introducing PvP. One thing we learned with Ingress was that the game can sustain itself if we are able to create social interactions amongst players, and we are working on that."
GameSpot has contacted Niantic to clarify whether the features will definitely come to Pokemon Go this summer.
"We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokemon got into a few accounts when they shouldn't have," the company said at the time. "To preserve the game's integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the Trainers' accounts."
Beginning today, everyone can sign up for an Xbox Game Pass membership, starting with a 14-day free trial. There are more than 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games in the catalog, including Halo 5: Guardians, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Payday 2, BioShock Infinite, and so many more. You don't stream the games, but instead download them, so you may want to consider investing in an external hard drive solution if you're planning to pick up a lot of the games.
Microsoft has said it plans to add more games to the catalog every month, and some could drop out.
If you're enjoying a game and want to own it permanently, you'll save 20 percent on game purchases and 10 percent on DLC. This only applies to Xbox One games and expansions.
You can sign up for Xbox Game Pass here, while Microsoft will offer subscription cards at brick-and-mortar retailers later this year.
It's the first of June, so that means Xbox Live Gold members can now pick up more free games through the Games With Gold program.
On Xbox One, the new release Speedrunners is free alongside multiplayer DLC for the recently released Phantom Dust re-release. Moving to Xbox 360, subscribers can pick up the backwards-compatible Assassin's Creed III until June 15. Then on June 16, Dragon Age: Origins will be free for Xbox Live Gold members until the end of the month.
A "durability review" of the Nintendo Switch console concludes that the hybrid system can be dropped from an impressive height and remain functional. As you'll see in the video below from the YouTube channel UnlockRiver (via Polygon), the Switch survives a 1,000-foot drop and remains operational, though the left Joy-Con was shattered when it hit the ground.
They tape the Switch to string and attach it to a drone, which they fly to 1,000 feet in the air. They then cut it loose and it sails to the concrete parking lot below, amazingly (mostly) surviving the impact. We are working under the assumption here that there was no camera magic or funny business going on behind the scenes. It certainly looks legit, at least. Here's the video:
This is not the first drop test that people on YouTube have conducted for the Nintendo Switch. The operators of the YouTube channel GizmoSlip dropped the console 11 times from 5 feet (including four screen-side down drops) back in March before the console stopped working.

If you can help it, never dropping your Switch onto the ground is probably a good goal to have. But it's comforting to know that the system at least looks pretty durable, in the event that you do end up dropping it.
In other Nintendo Switch news, the CEO of Rockstar's parent company said during an event today, "We believe in it. We see it the way [Nintendo does]; it's been a very successful launch. It remains to be seen how it does, but we're excited about it. Assuming there is an installed base, we'll be there. Not with all of our titles, but selectively."
The latest weekly sales charts for Australia and New Zealand have arrived.
The IGEA today posted sales charts for the week ended May 28, revealing that on the all-platforms charts, Injustice 2 was again the top-selling title in Australia, with Fallout 4 coming out on top in New Zealand for the same category.
You can see the full charts for the week ended May 28 below, divided by platform. The lists include physical sales only, so it's not representative of total industry sales in the countries.
It's not every day that the CEO of a company announces that they want to cancel more of their products, but that's the case today with the chief of Netflix.
Reed Hastings, who founded Netflix, told CNBC (via IGN) that Netflix should invest in riskier shows, which would in turn lead to more cancellations if they don't work out. Trying new things is incredibly important, Hastings said, pointing to a show like 13 Reasons Why, which was highly controversial and very popular, leading to a second second coming up.
"Our hit ratio is way too high right now," Hastings said. "We've canceled very few shows. I'm always pushing the content team, we have to take more risk, you have to try more crazy things. Because we should have a higher cancel rate overall."
"Because then, what you get is you get some winners that are just unbelievable winners like 13 Reasons Why. And you know, it surprised us, too. I mean, it was a great show, but we didn't realise just how it would catch on."
The Get Down was the first Netflix original series that was not renewed for a second season. Additionally, Marco Polo was scrapped after two seasons. Another Netflix original, Bloodline, is ending after its current Season 3.

A new update for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 is out now on all platforms, and among other things, it promises to improve the load times and fix bugs as part of a wider focus on stability.
Among the major updates for this new patch include reduced load times and fixes for game freezes and saving issues. Additionally, the update fixes a problem where save files could get corrupted, while a fix for a crash scenario in the Party Crasher mission is also included.
Notably, the game's load times on PS4 were lengthy--coming it at 4 minutes and 50 seconds to move from the main menu to the game itself. It remains to be seen how much of an improvement today's new patch provides.
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 launched in April, with GameSpot's review scoring it a 5/10. Multiplayer was held back from launch and will be released later in the year.

Starting off, there are new Legendary skins, including Oni Genji and Officer D.Va, which are available in the loot boxes. Today's PTR update also makes changes to Overwatch's Custom Games and Game Browser, namely that you can now modify player and projectile gravity. Additionally, jump height can be changed, as can the "knockback magnitude" for select weapons.
What's more, this Overwatch PTR update tweaks a number of heroes, including McCree, Reaper, and Roadhog, while there are also UI changes, bug fixes, and more. In terms of bug fixes, this patch fixes a problem where enemy players could detect Sombra while her stealth is active if they were close enough. A bug that caused Symmetra's hair to "take on an unnatural appearance" with her Vishkar or Architech skins has been fixed.
You can see the complete patch notes for today's update below, as shared by Blizzard. The patch is available on PC in the PTR, and will presumably be released for everyone on PC and on Xbox One and PS4 in the time ahead.
Targets now begin locking on after 0.2 seconds, instead of 0.8 seconds
Damage accumulated over the first 1.0 seconds increased from 20 to 80 (damage per second after the first 1.0 seconds is unchanged)
Developer Comment: McCree's ultimate can deal a lot of damage if it has a lot of time to build up, but it was often too difficult to get even a small amount of damage out before being stopped or killed. These changes make it more flexible and powerful.
Reaper
The Reaping (Passive)
Removed health orbs
Now regains 20% of all damage done to heroes as health
Developer Comment: Reaper's old healing passive was useful if you could kill a bunch of enemies in a row. But since enemies needed to be dead for it to work, it wasn't very helpful unless the situation was already in your favor. His new passive lets him get immediate benefit from it, especially when fighting Tank heroes, which tend to be larger targets that deal lower damage.
Roadhog
Head hitbox size reduced by 20%
Scrap Gun
Bullet damage decreased by 33%
Fire rate increased by 30%
Clip size increased from 4 to 5
Developer Comment: Roadhog's head was abnormally large compared to similarly-sized characters, so we're reducing its size to increase his survivability. The Scrap Gun changes reduce the power of his hook combo and alternate fire burst damage potential while still keeping his DPS roughly the same.
USER INTERFACE UPDATES
A quick summary of each player's most-played heroes is now available by highlighting the player in the Groups section of the Social menu (statistics displayed will dynamically change based on the mode/ruleset)
A new "All Modes" option has been added to the Career Profile that allows players to view combined stats from all game modes
A new "All Competitive Seasons" option has been added to the Career Profile that allows players to view combined stats from all Completive Play seasons
The "Damage Done" statistic has been replaced with "Hero Damage Done" in multiple locations
A new "Barrier Damage Done" statistic has been added to the Statistics section of the Career Profile, as well as an "All Damage Done" statistic, which combines damage done to barriers and heroes
Averages are now calculated in 10-minute slices, rather than by the number of games played
"Rate This Match" option no longer appears at the end of a match
Developer Comment: The new "Hero Damage Done" statistic is the same as the old "Damage Done" statistic, but it doesn't include damage done to barriers, only damage against heroes and placed objects (e.g. Torbjörn's turret). That number can be found in the new "Barrier Damage Done" or "All Damage Done" statistics. However, since "Hero Damage Done" and "Barrier Damage Done" are brand new, their averages will only be based on time played since they were added.
Also, the old statistics were calculated by taking total damage inflicted and dividing it by the number of games played. This resulted in an average that didn't accurately reflect the underlying performance, because it didn't take into account the length of the games. The new averages are calculated in 10-minute slices.
