One of the most pleasant surprises of E3 was Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. If you've gone from having no interest in the game when it first leaked to suddenly being intrigued by a special edition, you'll have to head to GameStop.
The Collector's Edition of Kingdom Battle is a GameStop exclusive in the US. As pictured below, this consists of the game itself, a six-inch figurine of a Rabbid dressed as Mario, a set of collector's cards, and a soundtrack CD. All of this comes inside of a special collector's box.
This package goes for $100, making it a $40 premium over the standard package. It launches on August 29 alongside the base game, and pre-orders are open now at GameStop.
Rocket League got a big boost today in its development as an esport, as developer Psyonix announced that it's coming to the Summer X Games this year. The competition, known more as an extreme sports event, will hold a Rocket League tournament for the first time.
The tournament is in collaboration with Faceit, the esports platform that also worked to get Rocket League a broadcast deal with NBC. The X Games tournament will feature a $75,000 prize pool, and it'll be streamed live on ESPN 3, ESPN's online channel. It takes place between July 14-16.
In a press release, Psyonix esports manager Josh Watson said, "The X Games and ESPN have done a great job of bringing attention to nontraditional sports over the years. Adding esports and Rocket League to that lineup is something we at Psyonix are very excited about."
The Summer X Games will be held from July 13-16 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and will feature the normal array of extreme sports alongside the Rocket League tournament. There'll be competitions in skateboarding, BMX, and motocross.
There've been countless different Monopoly editions released over the years, and there have even been several Monopoly video games. Now there's a video game-themed edition of the tabletop game in the works.
Hasbro announced the Monopoly Gamer Edition today, which is essentially a Super Mario Bros. makeover of Monopoly. You choose from Mario, Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, and Yoshi to play as, then progress around the board, attempting to collect coins, defeat bosses, and buy property.
The Gamer Edition isn't just Monopoly re-skinned with Mario aesthetics, though. It has a couple of new gameplay mechanics that are unique to this edition. "For the first time in Monopoly history, each character token will have its own unique power-up ability," Hasbro wrote in a press release. "For example, landing on the Super Star board space will activate Princess Peach's Super Star ability to collect rent from the bank. Players can also activate a special power-up boost by rolling the power-up die."
Hasbro is also selling additional "Power Packs" which contain another character token. These will go for $3 each.
The Gamer Edition will be available in August for $25 at most retailers. Hasbro is also selling a Gamer Collector's Edition for $40. This special edition has "premium packaging" and includes the special Bowser token. The Collector's Edition is on sale starting today at GameStop, and it'll come to other stores later this year. You can take a closer look at the game board and pieces in the video on GameStop's page.
An update to procedurally generated roguelike TumbleSeed will make the game easier following criticisms that it was overly difficult.
According to the developers' blog post, only 0.2% of players beat the game, which tasks you with ascending a mountain on a movable balance beam. The mountain has four themed sections before reaching the summit--forest, jungle, desert, and snow--but only 8.3% of players reached the desert due to the sharp difficulty spike there.
"It's too hard. And it's too hard because there are too many new things going on at once. It's undigestible," developer Greg Wohlwend writes in the post. In each new section of the mountain, there are new enemies, powers, and rules to learn, and on top of that, the mountain is randomly generated each time.
"[T]he issue is not necessarily that the game is too difficult, but that players feel overwhelmed with far too many things to learn at once," he says. "On top of this, they also feel overly punished for not learning them fast enough."
The new 4 Peaks Update on Steam will add four new mountains, each themed after one of the four sections in the original mountain. The mountains will be the same every time you play them, which gives you an opportunity to really learn the unique enemies and systems in each area before tackling the original, very difficult Adventure Mode.
TumbleSeed also suffered "poor Steam sales" after its critical reception. "While I don't think this update will change the course of our success, it does feel really good to know we gave it our all especially when it was hardest to," Wohlwend writes of the update.
You can read the full list of changes in a Steam post. Currently, the update is only available for Steam versions of the game; the developers plan to launch the update on consoles "ASAP."

Robot Entertainment has announced a release date for the PlayStation 4 version of Orcs Must Die: Unchained. The tower defense game is coming to Sony's console on July 18.
Unchained is the third installment in the Orcs Must Die series. The title was released earlier this year for PC, though it had been available for the platform in open beta since 2014. Like other tower defense games, Unchained tasks players with protecting their fortress from an invading army of orcs by outfitting it with various traps. What sets the series apart from other titles, however, is that it plays more like a third-person action game, allowing players to take on the invading hordes directly while building traps for their fortress.
Along with the traditional Survival mode, Unchained includes a head-to-head party mode called Sabotage. In this mode, two teams of three players compete on their own version of the same map and summon spells, enemies, and bosses on the opposing team's map in an effort to disrupt them. The team with the most rift points at the end of the match wins.
Prior to its PC release, Unchained also featured a MOBA-like PvP mode called Siege. This mode pitted two teams of five players against each other on symmetrical maps. However, Robot ultimately decided to remove the mode as only a "small portion" of players actively played it. The team explained, "Ultimately, the Siege game mode has a small hardcore group of players, but it isn't building a healthy long-term community around itself." Removing the mode allowed Robot to turn its focus "entirely toward making Survival feel, look, sound, and play more like a clear evolution of OMD and OMD2."
Orcs Must Die: Unchained will be free-to-play when it launches for PS4. Additionally, PS Plus members can snag an exclusive bundle of skins, consumables, in-game currency, and more--normally valued over $20--for free until August 17.
There's new Rocket League DLC in the works, and this pack is all about Rick and Morty. For the game's second anniversary, developer Psyonix is releasing a number of cosmetic items related to the popular TV show.
Writing on its website, Psyonix revealed the new content, explaining that the items are coming as a free update available to all players. The pack includes antennas with Rick and Morty perched on top of them; Cromulon, Mr. Meeseeks, and Mr. PBH toppers; an Interdimensional GB rocket boost; and Sanchez DC-137 wheels. You can see all of the items in the GIF below.
Once the update goes live, these items will appear as Common drops after matches. They'll be available starting July 5.
This is just one part of the much larger Second Anniversary Update coming to Rocket League on July 5. The update also adds a new arena, Achievements and Trophies, cars, cosmetic items, and music. You can read more about it here.
The former won the headline Best of Show award, as well as Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game. Ubisoft's Rabbids crossover, meanwhile, took away Best Original Game and Best Strategy Game.
Elsewhere, EA's FIFA 18 grabbed Best Sports Game, while Best Online Multiplayer went to Star Wars Battlefront II. Microsoft claimed two prizes, too: Xbox One X won Best Hardware/Peripheral while Forza Motorsport 7 claimed Best Racing Game.
Sony has announced its lineup of free PlayStation Plus games coming in July, and it's a good one. It brings a total of six games for Plus subscribers, three of which are playable on PS4 thanks to Cross-Buy.
The dedicated PS4 titles include PS4-exclusive horror game Until Dawn and Telltale's episodic Game of Thrones series; the timing of the latter works out nicely with the show returning to HBO in July. Joining these is Don't Die, Mr. Robot, an action game for Vita that features Cross-Buy support with PS4. Vita owners also get their hands on Element4l.
On the PS3 side, Plus members receive Darkstalkers Resurrection, which is actually a collection of two different games from the Darkstalkers fighting game series: Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge and Darkstalkers 3. Also free on PS3 is Tokyo Jungle, the brilliant, quirky action game where you play as various animals--ranging from Pomeranians to lions--in a post-apocalyptic version of Tokyo.
Plus members will get their hands on two other perks beginning in July. A booster pack for Orcs Must Die: Unchained, which launches in beta on July 18, will be available until August 15. Additionally, to celebrate the launch of PlayLink--a new multiplayer game platform on PS4 that lets you play using your smartphone--the game That's You will be free until October 24.
Nintendo has announced a release date for the next 3DS Kirby game, Kirby's Blowout Blast. The title will arrive in the 3DS eShop in both North America and Europe next week, on July 6.
Like a traditional Kirby game, Blowout Blast is a platformer that revolves around Kirby's ability to inhale enemies. Rather than endowing him with new powers, however, Kirby spits the foes out to defeat other enemies. Players guide the puffball through more than 25 stages, inhaling foes to unleash a powerful "Blaster Bullet." The more foes you inhale, the more destructive your Blaster Bullet becomes, allowing you to wipe out entire rows of enemies with a single gust. The game also features Amiibo support; when you scan a Kirby figure, you'll build a new statue in the game's plaza that changes the music.
Blowout Blast is the second Kirby game to hit the 3DS eShop so far this year; back in April, Nintendo released the multiplayer-focused Team Kirby Clash Deluxe for the service. In that title, players could choose one of four different classes of Kirby and team up to take on quests and battle bosses. Nintendo has also announced that a new Kirby "multiplayer action game" is in the works for 3DS and is slated to arrive in stores this holiday season.
All three Kirby 3DS games are being released to commemorate the series' 25th anniversary, though they aren't the only Kirby titles on the horizon. At E3 earlier this month, Nintendo unveiled a brand-new Kirby game for Switch. Like Kirby's Return to Dream Land for Wii, the Switch title is a side-scrolling platformer that seems to allow up to four players to play together cooperatively. Kirby for Switch will launch sometime next year.
The film follows Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014). It's directed by Matt Reeves, whose previous credits include Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Cloverfield.
In a recent interview with Empire, Reeves spoke about the movies that influenced War for the Planet of the Apes. "I wanted this film to be like a Biblical epic," he said. "Mark [Bomback, co-writer] and I looked at classic war movies: The Bridge on the River Kwai, Patton, Apocalypse Now.
"But we were also thinking in terms of things such as The Ten Commandments. I wanted it to feel very intimate in the foreground, but with grand vistas always dwarfing [the characters]. In a sense it's about these two species pitted against each other and nature being greater than both of them. I wanted a David Lean ape movie."
War for the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 14, 2017.
"In all the films what I try to do, in almost a Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become the character and you empathise with that point of view," he said. "And I think there is a chance to do an almost noir-driven detective version of Batman that is point of view driven in a very, very powerful way. And hopefully it is going to connect you to what's going on inside of his head and inside of his heart."
Nintendo's newest system, the Switch, is off to a strong start in Japan. The latest sales report shows that it's now surpassed the 1 million units sold mark after just under four months on sale.
This milestone was first reported by Japanese publication Famitsu (and translated by NeoGAF user Okami), which states that Switch has sold 1,016,473 units in Japan as of June 25. Taking only 17 weeks to get there, the Switch eclipsed the 1 million unit mark in roughly the same amount of time as the GameCube and significantly faster than the Wii U (34 weeks), PS3 (36 weeks), or PS4 (49 weeks), according to data compiled by GAF. But it was not as quick as a number of other systems, including Nintendo's own Game Boy Advance (3 weeks), DS (4 weeks), and 3DS (13 weeks).
In terms of game sales, it's the expected names at the top of the list. Here's the top five, according to Famitsu:
Indie darlings Inside and Limbo are coming to retail later in 2017 as part of a physical double pack for PS4 and Xbox One. The box will include both games and some collectors' items, "including a limited run poster and art card," according to the bundle's publisher, 505 Games.
The double pack launches in the US on September 12 and Europe on September 15, though it's unclear if it will come to other territories. It costs $30--the same price as buying them individually from the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store.
Limbo originally launched on Xbox 360 in 2010, before later coming to PS3, PC, mobile, and current-gen consoles. It was critically acclaimed and was awarded a 9/10 in our Limbo review.
Inside, meanwhile, received an 8/10 when it launched in 2016. Critic Alex Newhouse called it a "beautiful, haunting, and memorable game," and a "worthy follow-up to Limbo." Read more in our full Inside review.

All six of these will be playable beginning on July 1 for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. James Cameron has long been at the forefront of movie technology, pioneering the use of CG in the 1990s and 3D in the following decade. Now a new report has stated that he is close to realising his dream of glasses-free 3D for the upcoming Avatar sequels.
It has been unclear until now far the process was along, but the VFX site Inside The Magic reports that this goal is now "within reach." The site explains that Cameron's production company Lightstorm Entertainment has renewed its contract with tech company Christie Digital. As part of the deal, Christie Digital will supply Cameron with a RGB laser projection system, which the site states is the key to producing movie 3D without the need for glasses.
The director first spoke about his plans in September last year, when he was given honorary membership of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers. "I'm going to push," he said at the time. "Not only for better tools, workflow, high dynamic range and high frame rates--the things we are working toward. I'm still very bullish on 3D, but we need brighter projection, and ultimately I think it can happen--with no glasses. We'll get there."
There are no fewer than four Avatar sequels on the way. The first is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2020, with the next ones arriving on December 17, 2021, December 20, 2024, and December 19, 2025. All four movies are being filmed at the same time, and production is now underway.
2009's Avatar stands as the highest-grossing movie in history, bringing in $2.78 billion at the global box office.
Ubisoft has released a big patch for its open-world shooter Ghost Recon: Wildlands. The update, which is out now, brings with it some bug fixes, small improvements, and a new way to play the game called Tier 1 Mode.
Tier 1 Mode introduces a new difficulty option, and changes the way in which you level up. You start off at level 50 and work your way down towards level 1 by earning Tier Points (rather than XP), which can apparently unlock rewards. It seems there are no separate objectives or locations for Tier 1 Mode--you simply flick a switch in the menu to turn it on after reaching level 30 in the base game.
Elsewhere, the patch introduces a HUD indicator that tells you why you've been detected, and fixes a bunch of bugs. You can take a look at the full patch notes for the update--which comes in at around 7.4 GB on PC and 8.8 GB on PS4 and Xbox One--below. A video overview can be seen above.
Ghost Recon just recently received new DLC called Fallen Ghosts. The expansion consists of 15 new missions, three locations, and four bosses to eliminate. It's out now, included for free as part of the season pass, or available on its own for US $15 / £12 / AU $23.

A big new patch for Halo Wars 2 is coming out today, June 28, and it makes a number of changes across many areas of the Xbox One and PC strategy game.
Starting off, the patch makes changes to the selection box to allow players to be able to select units more easily when they're on the fringe. Additionally, the camera scroll speed has been tweaked to make it a more pleasant experience; speed can be changed through the Scroll Speed setting in the options menu.
The new Halo Wars 2 patch also changes the AI so they are no longer aware of when the player is starting to target them with a leader power. Additionally, AI is now blocked from putting rally flags where they should not be able to.

Microsoft's Xbox One X console launches this November. It's the most power console ever made, and it's aimed at people who want an ultra-high def console gaming experience, according to Microsoft's Dave McCarthy.
Asked who the Xbox One X is aimed at, McCarthy told us that people who want the very best will want the Xbox One X. That being said, the Xbox One S has features like HDR and 4K media playback support (for those with capable TVs), so it's all about choice, he said.
"It was a really conscious move on our part to support customer choice," McCarthy said. "I think people are going to decide what they want to gravitate to. I think when they see experiences running on Xbox One X, whether it be games where developers haven't touched a thing and they're just loading faster with smoother frame rates and they are looking better, or it's an experience like Forza Motorsport 7 or Anthem where it's been really crafted with the high-end capabilities in mind, they'll see the difference."
"If they're not ready to make the jump, [all of the Xbox One S controllers, games, and accessories are] going to work whenever they do make the jump [to Xbox One X]," McCarthy added. "But I would get back to that point of, if you really place a premium on ultra-high definition, high fidelity, spatial audio, all those things, you will not find a better price, performance combination and design than you will with Xbox One X."
McCarthy has already addressed the fact that the Xbox One X, at $500, is much more expensive than the PS4 Pro, the console it will likely be compared to most. "As far as I'm aware, there is nothing that offers the combination of power and performance at the price that we're doing right now [with Xbox One X]," he said.
Want to own your own piece of video game history? Have some cash burning a hole in your pocket? Doom designer John Romero has put up a set of original Doom II floppy disks on auction site eBay--and the price is already pretty high.
The set of 3.5" floppies are for version 1.7, which is the first edition of Doom II. Note that they don't come with a box--just the discs. The current high bid is $2,550 after 80 bids. The auction ends later today, so you don't have much longer to place your bid. The winner will have the opportunity to have the floppies signed by Romero himself.
I've decided to put up a set of DOOM 2 floppies (3.5") on eBay! Will sign if you like (if you win). https://t.co/sNW6xR7Upo#games
Shipping is available worldwide. Romero says the discs are in good condition, but they're pretty old, so you can probably expect some imperfections. Go to the eBay page (via IGN) to learn more.
"There have been slight variations on how it's been presented to us, but essentially it's the same answer," he told Engadget. "It's, 'Not right now" or, 'It's something we'll consider.' That's paraphrasing, but there hasn't been any movement."
Dunham noted that Psyonix has been in constant communication with Sony since Rocket League's launch in 2015, with the two companies talking every day. Cross-play is a subject that's come up multiple times, but Sony has still yet to give the green light that Psyonix is seeking.
Nintendo, on the other hand, gave Psyonix a positive response about cross-play for Rocket League on Nintendo Switch the same day that Psyonix inquired about it, apparently. Microsoft needed more time, but only about a month to agree to it.
Also in the interview, Dunham said Pysonix has tested cross-play between Xbox One and PS4 in closed environments to ensure that it will work, and the results were positive. Now, it's just a matter of Sony giving the green light.
"We've got to be mindful of our responsibility to our install base. Minecraft--the demographic playing that ... it's all ages but it's also very young," he said. "We have a contract with the people who go online with us, that we look after them and they are within the PlayStation curated universe. Exposing what in many cases are children to external influences we have no ability to manage or look after, it's something we have to think about very carefully."
Microsoft's Dave McCarthy told GameSpot at E3 that the company has had discussions with Sony about cross-play, but Sony is "not quite there yet." He said, "My hope is that they join the party as well because I think it's an awesome thing to do for gamers."
Rocket League for Nintendo Switch supports TV and mobile play, as well as online and local multiplayer. Online multiplayer supports up to eight players, Psyonix said. The Switch version of Rocket League has all the same content, features, and updates from the other editions. There are exclusive Battle-Car and customization items, including Mario and Luigi hat toppers.
Rocket League's Switch edition will launch this holiday, though a specific release date has not been announced. More details about the game will be announced later this year.
While it's yet to be announced, it looks like a follow-up to Dragon Age: Inquisition is on the way. Series creative director Mike Laidlaw said on The 1099 podcast this week that "something is happening with Dragon Age," which is likely a reference to the next game in the series.
While Laidlaw didn't get into specifics about the project, he confirmed that BioWare's Dragon Age team is currently "hiring a lot of people." This would suggest that development on the game--assuming it is a game--is ramping up, though there is no word yet on what stage of development is at.
"As I've jokingly said, I am the creative director for the Dragon Age franchise and they haven't fired me yet," he explained.
It's no surprise at all that BioWare would make a sequel to Inquisition. Inquisition, released in November 2014, enjoyed the "most successful launch in BioWare history" at the time. Whether or not that still holds following the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda is unknown, but given EA's general silence on its sales, it seems unlikely to have broken such a record.
Also during his appearance on The 1099 podcast, Laidlaw teased that BioWare is working on "other things" that he can't talk about. "There are other things in process but unfortunately I can't talk about them until they are realised. I am pretty excited about a few of them. Things continue apace," he said.
Inquisition won multiple Game of the Year awards. And while EA has not disclosed a sales number for the game, it apparently sold well enough to warrant a sequel.

Fast & Furious franchise star Michelle Rodriguez said today that she might quit the series. Why? In a post on Instagram, the actress said she might say goodbye to the franchise if the producers do not "show some love to the women" in the next entry in the blockbuster action series.
"I hope they decide to show some love to the women of the franchise on the next one," Rodriguez said. "Or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise. It's been a good ride & Im grateful for the opportunity the fans & studio have provided over the years... One Love"
It would be a big deal if Rodriguez does quit, as she and Vin Diesel are the only remaining members of the original cast still involved in the series.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in May, Rodriguez talked about the "male-dominated environment" that she works in for the Fast & Furious series. "At the end of the day, the only leverage I have as an individual is my participation. That's the only leverage I ever use with anything. It's like, look, this doesn't agree with my ethics, morals. My heart doesn't feel right doing this in front of millions of people, so I can always oblige myself and depart because money, to me, isn't as important as my lines that you're not allowed to cross."
The latest entry in the Fast & Furious series, The Fate of the Furious, opened earlier this year and made more than $1.1 billion in its first three weeks. The movie arrived on digital stores today.
What kind of movie will the new Batman film be? According to director Matt Reeves, he's aiming for it to show an "almost noir-driven, detective version" of the Caped Crusader.
In an interview with New Trailer Buzz, Reeves started off by pointing out that work is just now beginning on The Batman, as he only recently concluded War for the Planet of the Apes. That being said, it sounds like Reeves already has an established plan for the direction he wants to take The Batman--and it sounds pretty cool.
"We're just beginning [on The Batman]," Reeves said (via Batman-News and IGN). "These movies are so intensive. One of the reasons I was drawn to it is ... I see a parallel emotionally between Cesar [from Planet of the Apes] and Batman in that they are both characters who are tortured and trying to grapple within themselves to find the way to do the right thing in a very imperfect, and to some degree corrupt, world."
Reeves went on to say he wants to make The Batman being a very "point-of-view-driven" film that lets viewers experience what it's like to be Batman. If it works out, viewers will have a better idea of the struggles Batman goes through and what drives him.
"And so it's really that emotionality that I am interested in. I want to do a very point-of-view-driven [film]. In all the films what I try to do, in almost a Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become the character and you empathise with that point of view," he said. "And I think there is a chance to do an almost noir-driven detective version of Batman that is point of view driven in a very, very powerful way. And hopefully it is going to connect you to what's going on inside of his head and inside of his heart."
Jumpship, a new indie studio founded in collaboration with Inside, Limbo developer Playdead's Dino Patti, has announced its first game. Somerville is a new IP that we know basically nothing about; the first teaser trailer is moody and atmospheric. It shows what look like farmhouses in the foreground with massive, illuminated structures touching the sky in the background.
The first video also reveals game's apparent tag line: "In neon sky, our kin are lost, till future has returned to dust." Somerville is the name of a Boston suburb, but as of yet, there is nothing that connects the game to that city.
Patti told The Verge that Somerville is a "sci-fi action adventure that chronicles the lives of key individuals in the wake of a global catastrophe." The game is only in the "very early stage of conception," Patti said. There is no word yet on a release date or platforms.
Jumpship, which is based in Guildford, UK, is currently hiring, though the team is only expected to rise to eight people to complete the game.
The Jumpship website explains that the studio's philosophy is a grand one. It is "to break preconceived notions of what games can be by exploring the creative possibilities of the medium."
It goes on: "We believe in games as a legitimate and positive endeavor; with potential not only as an entertainment medium, but as a tool to question the human condition. We strive to support our intent with an unwavering ethic in all facets of the process.
"This unwillingness to take the path well-trodden, to aim for standards seemingly out of reach and meticulously handcraft every aspect is where the weight of value lies for us as a studio. It raises entertainment to something deeply personal."
We'll report back with more details on Somerville as they become available.
Speaking to Polygon, Blomkamp said he would "absolutely" like to do that, but it may not be anytime soon. He said if it were to happen, it wouldn't be until after his new short film studio Oats "is on its feet." He added that he wouldn't pursue a video game of his own while making his next "big [movie] feature," either. But if those hurdles could be cleared, Blomkamp said, "I would love to make a game. A lot of that stuff really resonates with me."
He added that he would like to make something in the vein of shooters like Titanfall, Halo, or Battlefield. But again, it sounds like a Blomkamp-directed game isn't happening soon, or ever.
"Doing that requires a massive amount of focus, and the focus for me right now is film and Oats," Blomkamp said. "Making games requires a different process to filmmaking and you have to commit on focusing to that entirely, which I can not do right now."
The first movie from Oats is Rakka, a 21-minute film featuring Sigourney Weaver. You can watch it above or on Steam for free. Alternatively, you can buy the Volume 1 Assets package for $5 on Steam, with funds going toward the production of follow-up short-films and eventually, potentially, a feature-length production.
The first trailer for the new Jumanji movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, is coming soon. As announced by the film's Twitter account, the debut trailer will premiere at some point on Thursday, June 29. The teaser video (below) also shows the tagline, "The game that plays you."
We'll circle back on Thursday with the trailer when it arrives. It'll probably feature a Guns N' Roses song.
They discover that choosing a character in the game transports them into a jungle as that character. This is quite a big change from the 1996 original Robin Williams movie.
Jake Kasdan, the son of legendary Star Wars writer Lawrence Kasdan, is directing Welcome to the Jungle. The film opens this Christmas.
Welcome to the Jungle stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johsnon, Jack Black, Nick Jonas, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan.
While Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is understandably dominating a lot of the conversation around Naughty Dog of late, the studio is also working on The Last of Us: Part II. Details are still light on the highly anticipated sequel, but now we know the game will have a motion-captured pig, apparently. Director Neil Druckmann and writer Halley Gross posted about a pig on Twitter today.
Neither included any mention of The Last of Us: Part II in their tweets, but it seems likely that this is related to the game in some manner. Gross, who wrote for Westworld, posted a video of herself with the unnamed pig, who is wearing some kind of motion-capture harness ... thing. You can see both tweets below.
During the week of E3 earlier this month, Druckmann said Naughty Dog is amped up about showing more of The Last of Us: Part II, but the time isn't right just yet. "Believe me, we're super excited to show you more of Ellie and Joel's 2nd journey, but right now it's Chloe and Nadine's time to shine," he said, referencing Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
As for The Lost Legacy, the standalone game that features Chloe and Nadine from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End launches in August for PS4, priced at $40. You can read all of GameSpot's previous coverage and watch all of our videos for it here.
Remember last month when the WannaCry ransomware attack spread throughout the world, targeting certain Windows operating systems? There's a new ransomware attack happening now that uses the same exploit as WannaCry, and it's possibly even stronger than the previous attack.
It's called Petya, and it seems to have originated in Ukraine when accounting software company MeDoc pushed a malicious update to its software. This carried an updated version of the Petya ransomware which is designed to target the EternalBlue exploit in certain Windows computers, the same vulnerability that WannaCry targeted. It's generally believed that EternalBlue was originally developed by the United States National Security Agency; it was leaked by the Shadow Brokers hacker group earlier this year.
Petya spread throughout the world today, and it soon became clear that this was a worse attack than WannaCry. The virus is more complex and stronger; it doesn't include some of the weaknesses that WannaCry did, such as poor payment management for the ransoms that it collects. Today, Petya has caused internet outages and inconvenienced businesses, but perhaps its greatest effect has been forcing the Maersk shipping company to shut down. Maersk is the largest shipping company in the world, and the cyberattack took down its IT systems. This compelled the Port of Los Angeles to close its largest terminal.
The best way to protect your computer is, of course, to update its operating system to a more recent version. Microsoft has already patched the EternalBlue vulnerability out of Windows operating systems, but some people and businesses have not yet installed the update. As a result, Petya was able to spread throughout the world in spite of Microsoft already releasing a fix to the vulnerability.
Earlier today, many people believed that the ransomware didn't include a kill switch like WannaCry did, but computer scientists and security experts on Twitter have recently discovered what appears to be a way to halt Petya's encryption function. The ransomware checks for a specific file in the Windows directory; if that file exists, it won't run the encryption. Creating a read-only file called "perfc.dat" in the C:\Windows folder will stop it from running; as a result, you can protect your computer from the virus by creating this file on your own computer.
If your computer is infected, you can still save your files. Upon infection, Petya will warn users with a "CHKDSK" message that disguises its file encryption. User Hacker Fantastic found that if you do not let the computer proceed past this message, you can turn off your computer, prevent the virus from completing the encryption, and recover your files via an external machine or a Live CD.
