E3 2017 doesn't "officially" start until Tuesday, but the festivities begin today with EA's press briefing at 12 PM PT. You can watch the stream live here on GameSpot, but if for whatever reason, you can't watch the show, you can also follow along with us in our liveblog below.
Project Rap Rabbit is still raising money on Kickstarter, but the team behind the rhythm-based adventure game, slotted for PlayStation 4 and PC, is now giving a first look at gameplay in the concept trailer above.
The video is based on a prototype of the game, but it shows off some of Project Rap Rabbit's music style and rap mechanics. If it has a familiar feel, that's because it's being developed by the creators of classic rhythm games PaRappa The Rapper and Gitaroo Man.
The game follows Toto-Maru, a rabbit meets farm boy, and his sidekick Otama-Maru on their quest to save the world. The planet is becoming an increasingly hostile place, thanks to some nastly looking "overlords," and the heroes need to create peace by "embracing the strength of music and by using the magic of rhythm and rhyme." The art style takes players to an alternate world, inspired by 16th century Japan, and promises to blend traditional Japanese artwork and modern rap culture.
The developers have raised roughly US $180,000 of their $1.1 million goal, and with just nine days of fundraising to go it's looking increasingly unlikely they'll fundraise successfully. They'll only receive their Kickstarter funding if they reach their goal by that deadline. As a stretch goal, the team has committed to making a version of the game for Nintendo Switch if they exceed their goal and raise $1.5 million.
If you'd like to donate or want to read more about how the game's rap battle dynamics will work, head over to its Kickstarter page, and follow our full coverage here at GameSpot for the latest news on Project Rap Rabbit.
Microsoft is cutting the price of the Xbox One S, though it might not be a permanent price drop. Starting on June 11, the day of the Xbox E3 briefing, Microsoft will offer the console for only $250. That's a price drop of $50, and it brings the system in line with the PS4 Slim's temporary price cut. It remains to be seen if the Xbox One S price drop is only for a limited time.
The Xbox E3 2017 briefing is expected to bring news on Project Scorpio, including its official name, price, and release date. We're also expecting to hear about new games and see more footage of already-announced titles.
The briefing kicks off at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET on June 11. GameSpot will host a livestream and liveblog for the event, and we'll also have all the news broken out as it happens.
E3 2017 is upon us, and following a year in which Sony was lauded for its strong E3 showing, there are a wide range of possibilities for what it could have in store this time around. Last year presented us with reveals of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, a new God of War, and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man, demonstrating a strong lineup of PS4 exclusives still to come.
Despite the solid momentum that Sony has generated after two successful conferences, there's still plenty of room for improvement in how it can remain on top of its E3 game. With its main competitor in Microsoft ready to show off new hardware with Scorpio's unveiling, the PlayStation brand will need some significant groundswell in order to stay ahead of the pack. Just prior to E3 2017, our editors discussed what Sony needs to show off this year in order to keep its momentum going in the face of some stiff competition.
Do you have your own thoughts and opinions about Sony's chances at winning E3 2017? Be sure to comment below and have a look at our articles on how Microsoft and Nintendo can come out on top. Check out our hub to follow all of our E3 coverage, which will include everything Sony reveals during its press conference on Monday night.
Continue With The Unexpected Reveals | Tamoor Hussain, UK Editor
Two of the most memorable E3 moments in recent history were the announcement of Shenmue 3 and the Final Fantasy VII remake. For better or worse, this is the bar Sony has set for itself and what everyone will be expecting it to meet. Fans will want to see a long sought-after sequel given the green light or a dormant franchise make a triumphant return, but equally important is showing that these projects aren't just flights of fancy. Since their announcements, we've seen barely anything from both Shenmue 3 and the Final Fantasy VII remake, and while it has been confirmed that the former won't be at E3, showing off something substantial from the latter would win Sony some major points. For anything new and exciting, there needs to be something other than a logo on a giant screen, because that doesn't fly anymore.
Make A Next-Gen PlayStation Announcement | Eddie Makuch, Associate Editor
Sony could bring the house down at E3 this year by officially announcing the next-generation PlayStation that is rumored to launch in 2018. Microsoft has time and again positioned Scorpio as the most powerful console ever made, so it would be particularly dramatic and impactful if Sony could trump Microsoft's move with a console even more powerful. Interestingly, Sony has said it expects PS4 sales to fall this year for the first time in the console's life, so that might suggest an announcement about what's coming next is on tap.
Don't Leave PSVR Behind | Tony Wilson, Video Producer
Four letters: PSVR. Games like Resident Evil 7 have proven that virtual reality is a viable way to play full-length major releases, not just short cinematic experiences. There hasn't necessarily been a shortage of exclusive PSVR titles since launch -- Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and Farpoint come to mind -- but the headset hasn't been in the spotlight since its initial reveal. Microsoft and Nintendo have no first-party equivalent to PSVR, so if Sony doubles down on games you truly cannot play anywhere else, it will go a long way to justify (and convince others to get on board with) the $400 purchase.
Introduce Backwards Compatibility | Chris Pereira, News Editor
With Xbox One trailing behind PS4 since the start of this generation, it's been Microsoft that has rolled out some fan-favorite features. Alongside the recently launched Xbox Game Pass, backwards compatibility has been a major hit. Meanwhile, Sony has relied on its PlayStation Now streaming service and PS2-on-PS4 Classics line as a means for offering the ability to play older games on PS4. While the latter introduces Trophies to games that did not previously have them, the accompanying cost--compared with Xbox One's backwards compatibility being free if you already own a supported game--makes it less than ideal. There's clearly room for improvement on this front for Sony.
While Microsoft will heavily tout having the most powerful system at E3, Sony has an opportunity to close the gap on the backwards compatibility front, which may matter to more people. PS1 Classic support on PS4 would be a great start--it lets Sony continue to sell classic games (including to a new group of PS4 owners who may not have owned a PS3, Vita, or PSP) and gives dedicated fans who have already bought these titles the freedom to play them on their current-gen system. Combine this with a way to play PS3 games you already own -- and without needing to stream them -- and Sony would make a strong demonstration that it's listening to fans.
Keep The Exclusives Coming | Justin Haywald, Managing Editor
Sony has done an amazing job of delivering great exclusives; just this year, we've already had Horizon Zero Dawn, Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0 and Persona 5. Even more have already been revealed, but in the same way that Sony has set a precedent for E3 as the place for unexpected reveals, it also has to keep bringing out new exclusives to one-up the previous year's show. We'll definitely see more of the games we already know are on the way: God of War, The Last of Us 2, and Days Gone. But could this also be the show where we see a new Bloodborne, the next project from Guerrilla Games, or some other new, surprising IP? Probably.
Better Support For PS4 Pro Users | Michael Higham, Associate Editor
Sony boasts the PS4 Pro as a 4K gaming machine with significantly more processing power than the standard PS4. It's nice that we have the option for a faster console if we're willing to spend a little bit for it, but the implementation of enhancements in games has been spotty since the Pro's release. While the onus is on developers to take advantage of the stronger hardware, we've had inconsistent experiences. For example, Horizon Zero Dawn looks and runs amazingly with HDR and checkerboard 4K, and we also have the option for 1080p with higher frame rates. But Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Watch Dogs 2 performed worse than they do on the standard PS4 in exchange for a higher resolution, which is disappointing for a premium console.
Sony could lay out a more focused plan of what Pro users will get from games in the future to help manage expectations, and possibly get more people on board with the Pro. This would mean holding developers to a certain standard for Pro enhancements. There could also be a push for more (if not all) games to come with detailed notes on what exactly Pro enhancements offer.
Focus On The Games | Miguel Concepcion, Editor
Sony's goal--particularly during the press conferences--should be to not mess with a good thing, namely by prioritizing games, which is how it won the last two E3s. The conference planners have displayed an understanding of how to pace a presser. That includes starting and ending strong and mixing the reveals with big-name properties, franchises with cult followings, and left-field curiosities. Recalling the wholly positive reception of God of War last year, many of the reveals from big-budget productions (e.g. The Last of Us 2, Spider-Man) should benefit from letting the gameplay speak for itself with minimal setup from the presenters.
E3 2017 is about to begin. As usual, there are massive posters being draped across the Los Angeles Convention Center, the site of E3, and on buildings throughout downtown LA.
GameSpot is now on the ground at E3 and we've taken some photos of the huge posters. You can see them in the gallery below, which we'll keep adding to a the show goes on. The E3 show floor itself is not open yet, but keep checking back with GameSpot for images inside the hall.
E3 2017 officially runs June 13-15, though the action kicks off today, June 10, with EA's briefing at 12 PM PT. The show continues with briefings from Microsoft and Bethesda on June 11, with Bethesda and Sony to follow on June 12. Nintendo's show is slated for June 13.
Actor Adam West, famous for playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 1960s TV show, has passed away from leukemia. He was 88.
"It's with great sadness that we are sharing this news...Adam West passed away peacefully last night after a short but brave battle with leukemia," his family said in a Facebook post. "He was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
"There are no words to describe how much we'll miss him. We know you'll miss him too and we want you to know how much your love and support meant to him throughout the years. Hug your loved ones today."
West's Batman TV show was nominated for an Emmy for outstanding comedy in its first year, but lost to The Dick Van Dyke show. Batman was canceled after three seasons, ending in 1968.
West's unique voice was recently heard as the mayor of Quahog, the fictional city from the animated TV show Family Guy. Playing a character also named Adam West, he had a number of memorable scenes on that show.

All The PlayStation Games Confirmed For E3 2017 So Far
BioWare's new IP won't be in the dark much longer. A leaked image on Twitter today suggests "Dylan" will make an appearance at the EA press conference this afternoon.
The original source of the image is unclear, but Wario64 on Twitter revealed the behind-the-scenes image.

Looking closer at the laptop screen pictured, we can see that "Dylan" will see a 45-second worldwide reveal trailer. The image also notes Need for Speed: Payback will make an appearance, Brothers director Josef Fares' A Way Out will have a trailer, and Madden NFL 18 will be shown on Xbox's Scorpio. There may be more not pictured in this image, such as the expected Star Wars Battlefront II multiplayer demo.
The screen above the laptop has an image that appears to be from Madden NFL 18 and notes "WIP audio, no GFX."
After confirming that this year's Xbox E3 2017 briefing will be longer than 90 minutes, Microsoft has now confirmed what appears to be the specific runtime for the show.
Writing on Twitter, Microsoft Studios GM Shannon Loftis suggested that the show will be 97 minutes long. She mentioned the figure in a tweet regarding how the briefing will be broadcast in 4K through Microsoft's Mixer service. Microsoft's E3 briefings usually run for 90 minutes, but this year's is longer because Microsoft wants to show more games.
Also new for Microsoft this year at E3 is the date and time of the Xbox briefing, as the show is now taking place on the Sunday before E3 week instead of Monday. The event kicks off at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET.
While not the official beginning of the show, EA's Saturday EA Play event essentially kicks off E3 this year. With the event upon us, we're putting together lists of all the games you can expect to see at the big-time gaming show. This article rounds up all of the Ubisoft games that are likely to be at the show, including those that have been hinted at but not yet formally announced.
There have been a flood of Assassin's Creed leaks, with the latest confirming its name--Assassin's Creed: Origins--October release date, and other details. The game will presumably be officially unveiled at E3, where we're also expected to see a new IP from Ubisoft.

Bethesda hasn't shared what it will have to show at E3, but it has teased the show will offer a "special tour of Bethesdaland." This was accompanied by an image showing a mock theme park that features many of Bethesda's franchises--Doom, The Elder Scrolls, Quake, and so on. More notable are two areas shown as under construction, although it's unclear if these are meant to indicate new IPs or revivals of existing ones.

Despite rumors that it might also be shorter than in the past, Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg suggested recently that it will run the usual 90 minutes or so. Since then, we've heard it will actually be longer than that in order to accommodate all of the games that Microsoft wants to show.
Microsoft has made it no secret that Project Scorpio, the souped-up version of Xbox One launching later this year, will be a major focus of the show. With the company have already revealed its technical specs, you can expect it to showcase the console's benefits, including how much better games look and run on it.
Star Wars Battlefront II may do away with paid DLC. Updates to the title's Origin store page hint at free DLC seasons, claiming that each season will bring "fresh, new downloadable content, available to all players" with internet, an EA account, and Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus.
We know from a report in April that Star Wars Battlefront II won't have a season pass. This is for a variety of reasons, but mostly to avoid segmenting the community, as creative director Bernd Diemer said.
The problem with the season pass in a multiplayer game like Star Wars Battlefront was that players couldn't play with each other if they didn't pay into the DLC. It became a challenge for players to find matches and isolated parts of the community. Diemer acknowledged this and said the team is actively seeking a way to fix this in Star Wars Battlefront II.
At the time, Diemer couldn't confirm what the team was planning on doing to replace the season pass model, but he did say that they were planning on doing something different.
EA DICE has yet to confirm if the DLC will indeed have free seasons for all players, but for now, it's looking like Star Wars Battlefront II might just have a new hope. Star Wars Battlefront II releases on Xbox One, PS4, and Origin on Nov. 14, 2017.
Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are once again facing a tough challenge at E3 2017. With each company competing to win over the hearts of the gaming community, it's clear that each need to bring its A-game news and announcements. With our anticipation for the upcoming press conferences building, we've begun to discuss upon what each company needs to do to win this year's big event.
Below you can find a series of features detailing our thoughts and beliefs over what the big three need to do to win this year's E3.
How Can Sony Win At E3 2017
With E3 right around the corner, there's a number of possibilities for what the creators of the PlayStation brand can do to succeed at the show. After the positive buzz from their reveals of Death Stranding, God of War, and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man, it has clearly shown that their first party support for PS4 is solid. Though despite the solid momentum Sony has generated after two successful conferences, there's still plenty of room for improvement in how they can still remain on top of their E3 game. With their main competitor in Microsoft ready to show off their new hardware, the Playstation brand will need some significant groundswell in order to stay ahead of the pack. To find out how we think Sony needs to do to win E3 2017, check out our in-depth feature. -- [How Can Sony Win E3 2017]
How Can Microsoft Win At E3 2017
With the Scorpio readying for its launch this holiday season, there's still some skepticism in the air about Microsoft after some rather disappointing cancellations and lukewarm reception to their first party content. Still, Microsoft can do a lot to switch things up, and with the conference just around the corner, now is a good time to reveal what else they've got up their sleeve. To find out how we think Microsoft needs to do to win E3 2017, check out our in-depth feature. -- [How Can Microsoft Win E3 2017]
How Can Nintendo Win E3 2017
This year's E3 is shaping up to be an exciting one for Nintendo, seeing as the company just launched the Switch three months ago. While the console has been selling incredibly well and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an utter masterpiece, it's still in dire need of more big software to keep its steadily increasing audience interested. And with so many gamers out there still skeptical about the Switch, the company needs to offer a solid showing if it wants to convince them to jump aboard. But what does the company need to do exactly at this year's show to win over both camps? To find out how we think Nintendo needs to do to win E3 2017, check out our in-depth feature. -- [How Can Nintendo Win E3 2017]
God of War is the latest entry in the long-running action game franchise developed by Sony Santa Monica. It's being directed by franchise veteran Cory Barlog, who fans will know as the director of God of War II. The game was first announced during Sony's E3 2016 press conference. Despite a strong gameplay reveal at the show, we've heard little about the game since.
Below you can find articles highlighting important details we know about the game thus far:
Currently, it's not known if God of War will appear during the Sony press conference. However, it has been confirmed a one-hour presentation about God of War will take place at the E3 Coliseum event hosted by Geoff Keighley. Director Cory Barlog is confirmed to appear at the event as well.
What We Hope To See At E3
First off, we hope Sony will confirm God of War's release date. The company has remained silent about God of War since its announcement, so we're hoping it'll at least give us an idea of when we can expect the game. Director Cory Barlog has confirmed that the game is playable from start to finish--at least some version of it--which means that it has to be approaching a somewhat completed state.
As always, more footage would also be nice--maybe not to the level of last year's demonstration--but maybe a quick trailer for us to see how the game's development has been fairing. And more importantly, we hope that God of War will also be playable on the showfloor. Seeing as how this year's E3 is the first time the event is going to be open to the public, Sony could really benefit from letting attendees get their hands on the latest in this critically acclaimed franchise.
Here's what our editors think the company needs to distinguish itself among the competition.
What do you think Nintendo needs to do to win E3 2017? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to check out our other round-ups asking the same question for Sony and Microsoft.
Smash Bros. For Switch | Eddie Makuch, Associate Editor
The Smash Bros. series is one of Nintendo's biggest and best, and the company could fill out the Nintendo Switch's pipeline of exciting titles by revealing a Switch port of the Wii U game. It could be something like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, featuring some gameplay refinements and updates, along with bundled DLC and something cool and new like a crossover character or new features. Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime has said fans can expect all of Nintendo's major franchises to eventually show up on Switch. So it's more a matter of when, not if, and E3 seems like a good time to officially announce Smash Bros. for Switch.
And Bring Back Metroid or F-Zero | Tamoor Hussain, UK Editor
Building off the Smash Bros. suggestion, Nintendo needs to strike while the iron is hot. Thanks to the acclaim that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe--as well as the system itself--have received, there are a lot of eyes on Switch. This means now is the time for Nintendo to go for the hard sell and bring out the other big franchises synonymous with the company and its platforms. Sure, we have Super Mario Odyssey on the way, but if Nintendo really wants to reignite fan passion, it needs to show off a new Metroid or F-Zero: the games that fans have been desperate for, the ones that will have them giddy with excitement. People buy Nintendo platforms for first-party titles, and although the Switch looks like it's collecting a good mixture of indie and AAA third-party games, Nintendo's internal developers need to show off what they can do on the system.
A Strong Lineup Of Independent Games | Michael Higham, Associate Editor
Skepticism of the Switch's functionality was resolved after its release; docking it to play on a TV and taking it on the go works seamlessly. But critical eyes are still set on the console's lineup of games. The platform is ripe for smaller indie titles to thrive (like Snipperclips) or enjoy a second life (like Shovel Knight and Binding of Isaac). Nintendo flaunted that over 60 independent games would be released on the Switch in 2017, but how will they follow up on that in the future?
We're confident in Nintendo's ability to deliver the meatier first-party titles, as we saw with Zelda: Breath of the Wild and expect from Super Mario Odyssey. But that strong core needs to be bolstered by great independent games that can also provide diverse types of experiences. It'll help fill the gaps between bigger releases and provide the Switch with consistent, lasting appeal beyond 2017.
Port More Wii U Games To Switch | Matt Espineli, Associate Editor
While Wii U had a relatively solid lineup of exclusives--like Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bayonetta 2, Super Mario Maker, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE--there still exists a bunch of people who never got the chance to play any of them. With so many high-quality exclusives in Nintendo's Wii U library, the company would be leaving money on the table if it didn't port some of them over to the Switch, especially considering the high volume of non-Wii U owners the console has obtained since its launch. We've already received a fantastic definitive edition of Mario Kart 8 for the Switch, and we've gotten a port of Lego City Undercover, which was the first Lego game exclusively published by Nintendo for Wii U. If Nintendo can secure more ports or even definitive remasters of Wii U games for Switch, it'll not only introduce its Switch owners to some great games from its recent past, but also buy itself more time as it produces newer games to better round out the console's library. Come on, who doesn't want to play Wind Waker HD or Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker on Switch? Nintendo, make it happen!
And Fix The Virtual Console | Justin Haywald, Managing Editor
Along with bringing over some digital titles from the Wii U library, Nintendo needs a better solution for the Virtual Console. Recent details on how the Switch's paid subscription service will include access to a library of classic NES games is a great start, but there is still a large gap in classic content that Nintendo needs to address. It's likely we'll find out exactly what's going to happen with the service, and if there'll be any way to access previously purchased content from previous' consoles eShops, during E3.
Having Netflix-like access to a library of classic Nintendo games is a great idea, but it's unlikely that Nintendo's upcoming announced will go so far as to include digitally purchased Wii or Wii U titles, and the company hasn't mentioned what will become of N64 and SNES digital games. PlayStation Now and the Xbox Game Pass show that their are different potential solutions to giving gamers access to older game libraries, but it'll be exciting to see just how far Nintendo takes the idea. Like sony and Microsoft, Nintendo can't possibly make everyone happy, but, as the NES Classic Edition showed, there's an undeniable hunger for old-school console gaming.
Confirm The Handheld Faves | Kallie Plagge, Associate Editor
There's a good segment of Nintendo players who skipped Wii U, meaning their most recent experience with Nintendo games was on 3DS. In addition to bringing out the Big N guns, Nintendo could stir up a lot of excitement by showing off favorite 3DS franchises, like Pokemon and Animal Crossing, for Switch. Not only do they have extremely dedicated fanbases, they're also games that would be right at home on Switch: prettier and more robust than on 3DS, but still portable. And it would be really nice to have something to do with all those Animal Crossing Amiibo cards...
Make Super Mario Odyssey The Focal Point | Miguel Concepcion, Editor
While the presentation of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in E3 2016 did not make Nintendo the clear-cut winner last year, its comprehensiveness and positioning as the key title for Switch helped raise the game's already high hype levels. By making Super Mario Odyssey the centerpiece this year, it would take advantage of the mostly positive post-launch reception of Switch and Breath of the Wild. And because of Odyssey's unusual design--with its mix of both traditional Mario platforming areas and real-world-inspired worlds with human characters--the resulting gameplay showcases will surely impress even those who aren't typically huge Mario fans. Provided there's a lot of in-game footage to show and it conveys the potential of quality that can be compared to the best Mario games, a lengthy presentation of Odyssey plus a version of the game on playable kiosks would make a strong case for Game of Show.
It wouldn't be E3 without a few leaks. Ahead of today's EA E3 presentation, where the company will talk about its lineup of upcoming games, footage of Star Wars Battlefront II gameplay leaked online.
While Star Wars is scheduled to be at the event, this is the first in-depth look at the gameplay, and it appears to have come from YouTuber NukemDukem's sponsored stream. It's not clear if the stream leaked early and was taken down, but there is a video on Vidme with the full gameplay session. The video lasts 12 minutes, and it shows the player trying out various heroes in combat, including Darth Maul (from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) and Rey (from Star Wars: The Force Awakens).
We'll learn more about what's the future of Star Wars Battlefront II during the EA Play event at noon Pacific time (3PM ET) today. In addition to Star Wars, other playable games at the event will include Need for Speed: Payback, Madden 18, FIFA 18, and NBA Live 18.

Amazon Germany has listed Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, seemingly confirming long-running rumors that MachineGames is developing a sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions of the game appeared on the retailer's website, with an October 27 release date. The listings were all taken down, but not before screenshots were taken and posted on NeoGAF.
"New Colossus" may refer to a sonnet by Emma Lazarus, which, in addition to appearing on the base of the Statue of Liberty, was also recited by Wolfenstein protagonist BJ Blazkowicz at the end of The New Order.

Optimistically speaking, Days Gone feels like the culmination of a zombie sub-genre that places an emphasis on crowd density. It's the main reason for the successes of Capcom's Dead Rising series, and veteran developer Bend Studio is looking to take this sub-genre to new places with vast open settings and more aggressive undead. Its wholly effective debut at last year's PlayStation press conference showed masses of zombies that moved so cohesively in their brainlust that they often appeared like one fluid entity. Meanwhile, its narrative relies on classic zombie genre underpinnings where humans struggle to survive while continuing to find reasons to live. And the key to staying alive involves resourcefulness at every level, from using the environment to take out zombies en masse to scavenging for resources.
Days Gone is being developed exclusively for the PS4, and will include PS4 Pro enhancements.
Here's a list of articles with details of what has been confirmed thus far:
The best case scenario is that E3 will present the first hands-on opportunity and reveal the release date. We also hope to see other aspects of the open world beyond what was shown last year. In other words, what is there to do in Days Gone beyond just defending yourself against a swarm of zombies? The worst case scenario is that it doesn't appear at the expo at all, hands-on or otherwise.
If Bend Studio plays its cards right, the game could be the kind of coming out party where they exit from the shadow of Syphon Filter, the series the studio is best known for. It's a notable achievement that another Sony studio, Guerrilla Games, recently pulled off. That developer proved its prowess outside of the Killzone franchise, namely with this year's Horizon: Zero Dawn.
The Black Panther trailer has been released, and you should just watch it in the video embed above. Go ahead, we'll still be here when you're done.
The next big Marvel adventure isn't coming out until next year, but this first trailer gives us a look at the overall direction the film will take. Last year, Boseman suggested that the movie will adopt a different tone to many of the other movies in the Marvel universe. "For me, most of the time the darker superhero movies are the ones that I gravitate towards, that I love the most," he said. "I'm glad that the tone of [Black Panther] may be a little grittier."
"I just wanted to establish that from the beginning, that that's what we were doing," he continued, referring to the character's first appearance in this year's Captain America: Civil War. "That that's what I intend to do. I feel like we'll end up in a place that I've always wanted to be when I look at superhero movies. Those are the ones I like the most. It's exciting to do that."
The trailer follows the movie's poster, which was released earlier today. The movie is directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed). Chadwick Boseman plays the lead role, and cast also includes Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong'o, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.
The trademark application was submitted on June 5, and Capcom will likely have to wait a while for it to be accepted. The US Patent and Trademark Office database gives only a few hints at what this might be: it is tagged as "video game software," "downloadable game program for playing on mobile phones and smart phones," "downloadable screen saver software and wallpaper software for mobile phones and smart phones," among others.
As always, early trademark filings like this have to be taken in context. Many trademarks are attached to products that never come to fruition; Capcom could simply be covering its bases and registering a bunch of titles related to the Monster Hunter series.
However, if I were to speculate, I would hazard a guess that Monster Hunter World is some sort of online and mobile hub for the series--perhaps a tie-in to the franchise, something like Deus Ex Universe. There is, of course, no concrete evidence to support this theory, and plenty of fans online think that it's Monster Hunter 5 or a PS4-exclusive installment in the series.
In any case, keep an eye on GameSpot for more Capcom news, especially as we head into next week when E3 2017 takes place.
The latest Nvidia graphics driver is now available for download, version 382.53 WHQL. It gives users of GeForce video cards optimal performance in the new rally racer Dirt 4 and isometric shooter Nex Machina. There are also multi-GPU SLI profiles for Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
On top of the optimizations are a few fixes to lingering issues from past Nvidia drivers. Among those resolved are the following:
DirectX 11 games: On some titles, in-game V-Sync does not work if Fast Sync is selected from the Nvidia Control Panel. Consequently, the game frame rate is not locked to the maximum refresh rate, resulting in possible tearing.
Aerofly RC 7: Corruption occurs in the game when shadows are enabled.
OpenGL and Tombstone Engine: Driver update causes corruption in Tombstone engine games.
SLI: The secondary display remains blank after switching from Clone or Extended mode to secondary-only display mode.
As always, there are a handful of specific issues Nvidia is aware of--some that carried over from previous versions--which are listed below:
Firefox: Browser errors may occur or the browser may crash with Nvidia drivers.
Kepler GPUs and SteamVR: The compositor fails when starting up.
GeForce GTX 1070: Games (Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, For Honor) do not recognize the custom refresh rates set using the Nvidia Control Panel.
GeForce GTX 1080 and Battlefield 1 XP1: With SLI enabled, corruption appears in the game when switching between full-screen and windowed mode.
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and Mass Effect: Andromeda: Random memory errors may occur when playing the game.
GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and Sid Meier's Civilization VI with G-Sync/SLI/DirectX 12: Black corruption appears while entering the in-game menu after skipping the cutscene.
GeForce GTX 970M and The Division Survival DLC: Game crashes, pointing to ntdll.dll when changed to fullscreen and to windowed fullscreen.
GeForce GTX 970M and ShadowPlay with For Honor: The game silently may crash if the intro video is skipped while instant replay is on.
GeForce GTX 970M SLI and Gears of War 4: Level loading may hang.
GeForce Experience: Driver installation may fail when attempting to perform a driver overinstall. To work around this, perform a clean installation.

This year's Xbox E3 press conference will run longer than usual. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has revealed on Twitter that the show will be more than 90 minutes in length. According to him, this is to make room for all of the games that the company hoped to showcase, though it's unclear exactly how much of the show will be dedicated to games and not hardware.
"Had some games that just didn't want to leave out to hit the time, so made a call to just run a little long," Spencer said. He didn't indicate if these games were exclusives or what portion of these presentations would be dedicated to Scorpio.
Xbox briefing Sunday will likely run longer than our traditional 90 mins. For those recording just a heads up. #XboxE3
Microsoft is expected to officially announce the name, price, and release date for Project Scorpio during the briefing. In addition to that, there will of course be game announcements and demos.
Meanwhile, Xbox engineering lead Mike Ybarra is traveling to Los Angeles for E3 and he tweeted a picture of the Xbox Scorpio chip he's apparently carrying with him.
The length of this year's event isn't the only thing that's new for Microsoft, as the show is now taking place on the Sunday before E3 week instead of Monday. The event kicks off at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET, and we now know it will run until after 3:30 PM PT / 6:30 PM ET.

A new trailer and a 40-player live gameplay demonstration for Star Wars: Battlefront II will debut tomorrow, June 10, during EA's E3 2017 briefing. Ahead of that, EA today released a very brief teaser trailer for the video, showing B1 Battle Droids preparing for war.
According to the video, this is game engine footage that is representative of the PlayStation 4 edition. You can watch the teaser below:
Unlike 2015's Battlefront, which shipped 14 million copies, the sequel will have a single-player campaign--John Boyega should be happy. The campaign is being worked on by Motive Studios, while DICE is again handling the multiplayer.
Developer IO Interactive announced this week that it is changing the way it's selling Hitman on digital storefronts. The game originally launched in episodic format, but since all of the episodes have been released, IO is making the Complete Pack the default purchasing option.
This doesn't mean that the studio is doing away entirely with the episodic format; individual episodes will still be available for purchase on PS4 and Xbox One. However, it is eliminating two entry packs that were only relevant while IO was still working on additional episodes.
The Intro Pack and the Upgrade Pack will be eliminated on all platforms. The Intro Pack included both the tutorial and first mission, and was meant as an introduction to the game. The Upgrade Pack, meanwhile, was a way for Intro Pack owners to then buy all remaining content.
Once it's eliminated, owners of the Intro Pack will have different options depending on which platform they own. PC owners of the Intro Pack can buy the complete season for a reduced price depending on how many episodes they have already bought; Steam will detect which episodes they don't own and charge them accordingly. Xbox One owners can buy the Complete Pack for a reduced price. PS4 Intro Pack owners, however, receive no discount and will have to buy the Complete Pack at the normal price.
In a very small hint at what's coming next for the Hitman series, IO said that "these changes will help us to lay the foundations for our future plans for Hitman."
The fate of the franchise and its developer is very uncertain, as Square Enix recently declared its intention to sell off Hitman developer IO Interactive, an announcement that was followed by news of layoffs at the studio. However, Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda recently said, "Because [IO] is engaged in the development of Hitman and other renowned titles, we are negotiating with prospective external investors capable of ensuring that these titles carry on." There's no word yet on who might be interested in purchasing IO Interactive from Square.
There has been no shortage of leaks surrounding the next Assassin's Creed game, and that continues today. Ahead of a probable reveal at E3 next week, the game's release date has seemingly been leaked.
Images of an upcoming issue of Game Informer have made their way online, with a cover story dedicated to the game, Assassin's Creed: Origins. That name was previously reported, but this leak also provides us with a release date: October 27. At least four different versions will be available, including a $110 Gold Steelbook edition that bundles the game with the season pass and other bonuses.
The latest Radeon Crimson ReLive graphics driver--version 17.6.1--from AMD improves performance for Dirt 4 and Prey. Specifically, Dirt 4 receives a multi-GPU profile and up to 30% better framerate using 8x MSAA compared to the previous driver version. Prey simply performs up to 4% better. AMD derived these performance metrics using a Radeon RX 580 graphics card, Intel Core i7-7700K CPU, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM at 3000MHz.
In addition to the optimizations of two recent releases, the new Radeon driver brings a multitude of fixes to minor issues:
Virtual Super Resolution may fail to enable on some Radeon RX 400 and Radeon RX 500 series graphics products.
HDR may fail to enable on some displays for QHD or higher resolutions.
Flickering may be observed on some Radeon RX 500 series products when using HDMI with QHD high refresh rate displays.
AMD XConnect: systems with Modern Standby enabled may experience a system hang after resuming from hibernation.
Fast mouse movement may cause an FPS drop or stutter in Prey when running in multi-GPU system configurations.
Adjusting memory clocks in some third party overclocking applications may cause a hang on Radeon R9 390 series products.
Graphics memory clock may fluctuate causing inconsistent frame rates while gaming when using AMD FreeSync technology.
Mass Effect: Andromeda may experience stutter or hitching in multi-GPU system configurations.
The GPU Scaling feature in Radeon Settings may fail to enable for some applications.
Error message "Radeon Additional Settings: Host application has stopped working" pop up will sometimes appear when hot plugging displays with Radeon Settings open.
You can download the latest version of the Radeon graphics driver on AMD's website. The much-anticipated Vega GPUs from AMD are expected to release a few SKUs sometime in July. For now, the Radeon RX 580 sits atop the AMD pecking order, and you can see how it performs in our review of the card.
