Rainbow Six Siege Operation Para Bellum Update Release Date Announced

By Kevin Knezevic on Jun 06, 2018 12:21 am

Rainbow Six Siege's big Operation Para Bellum update is nearly here. Following its recent stint on the Siege test server, Ubisoft has now confirmed when the expansion will roll out for the live game, and it happens very soon.

Operation Para Bellum will go live for all platforms--PS4, Xbox One, and PC--on Thursday, June 7. As is typically the case, those who've purchased the Siege season pass will receive access to Para Bellum's two new Operators, Alibi and Maestro, immediately at launch, while all other players will be able to unlock them one week later, beginning June 14.

Alibi and Maestro are the 39th and 40th Operators to arrive in Siege, and both are Defenders hailing from the Gruppo di Intervento Speciale counterterrorism unit. Alibi can deploy holographic decoys of herself to distract opponents, while Maestro can lay down a bulletproof turret to block access to key areas of the map.

In addition to the aforementioned Operators, Operation Para Bellum introduces Villa, the 20th map to arrive in the game thus far. Ubisoft describes Villa as the game's "most tactical map to date." It is a luxurious mansion located in the Italian countryside, and it features "wide staircases, narrow tunnels, and secret hatches."

The update also introduces a number of gameplay and balance adjustments. Most notably, the Clubhouse map has been reworked, and several Operators are getting the bulletproof camera as a secondary gadget. Echo in particular is also seeing some notable tweaks, receiving a second Yokai drone and other buffs.

Rounding out the update is the new Pick & Ban system, which will be available in custom games and allows players to counteract opponents by banning certain Operators from play. You can read more about Operation Para Bellum in the full patch notes shared on the official Siege website. You can also watch us play several matches of Siege with Alibi and Maestro on the new Villa map.

New Battle Royale Game Hits Steam, Looks Like Fortnite, And Lets You Ride Horses

By Eddie Makuch on Jun 06, 2018 12:13 am

Smite and Paladins developer Hi-Rez has released battle royale spinoff called Realm Royale. The free game, which is in Early Access, is available now on Steam.

As you will immediately notice, Realm Royale is inspired by Paladins, the studio's hero shooter that itself bears a resemblance to Blizzard's Overwatch. What separates Realm Royale from Fortnite and other battle royale games is that you always play in a four-player squad, and you can choose from five different classes that have their own unique perks and abilities. For example, the Mage class can cast spells and do damage from far away, while the Warrior is a frontlines fighter. The Engineer class can create defensive barriers to shield their squad from attacks.

Another feature that Realm Royale has that other battle royale games don't is what's called "Disenchant." When you see weapons on the ground, you can disenchant them to turn them into shards. You can then take those shards to a forge on the map to craft legendary-level armor, weapons, and abilities. However, when you're crafting something, a plume of smoke emerges from the forge which everyone on the map can see. Additionally, you can ride a horse in Realm Royale; your move, Fortnite.

Realm Royale is free, and while microtransactions may be added later, none are in the game now. As mentioned, this is an Early Access game, so it is unfinished and could be buggy at times. Hi-Rez said it has big plans to expand and evolve Realm Royale over time, and as such, it will stay in early access until it is finished. There are currently five classes, 17 weapons, and 25 abilities in Realm Royale, which supports 100 players (divided into teams of four). All of the core gameplay is in the game currently, though Hi-Rez warned that it is not in a fully polished state right now. Things like player levels and cosmetics you can unlock will be added later.

Hi-Rez has launched Smite and Paladins on console, but there is no word yet on if Realm Royale will come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Shadow Of The Tomb Raider: What We Know And Want At E3 2018

By Matt Espineli on Jun 06, 2018 12:11 am

Lara Croft returns in the upcoming Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the last entry in the Tomb Raider origin trilogy, which began with the titular series reboot in 2013. As one of Square Enix's biggest upcoming games, we're more than likely to hear about it at E3 2018. To prepare for what's ahead, let's breakdown what we already know about Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and what we're hoping to see at this year's E3.

What We Know So Far

Square Enix officially confirmed that Shadow of the Tomb Raider was in development with a trailer in March 2018, though it was technically leaked last year when an employee was spotted in a subway train working on a presentation with the game's name. The game is scheduled to release on September 14 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. While it'll be developed primarily by Eidos Montreal (Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Thief), it's worth noting that original reboot developer Crystal Dynamics will provide additional development on the project.

You once again play as Lara Croft, who is on an expedition to Latin America in search of a Mayan relic. However, Trinity, a paramilitary organization that tried to hunt down Lara in the previous game, is also seeking the relic for its own gain. During this expedition, Lara accidentally sets off a Mayan apocalypse, which thrusts her on a journey to save the world. The game is being touted as the darkest adventure Lara has been on yet, with developers mentioning that there will be far more drama and internal conflict than past games.

In terms of mechanics, Shadow of the Tomb Raider sports a few key additions to the series, including revamped swimming controls for underwater exploration as well as more sophisticated stealth and AI systems.

What's Confirmed For E3?

With Shadow of the Tomb Raider's release in September, it's likely we'll see much more of the game at Square Enix's E3 2018 press conference on June 11. In a recent interview with GamesBeat, Eidos Montreal studio head David Anfossi teased that they'll be divulging more details on what differentiates Shadow of the Tomb Raider from past games. He described the future reveal as new, interesting, and very surprising for Tomb Raider fans.

What We Hope To See At E3

Aside from its initial reveal trailer and several screenshots, no actual gameplay has been shown of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. We're hoping Square Enix remedies this by offering a full demonstration at this year's press conference, showcasing the enhancements that Eidos Montreal has made to combat, stealth, and exploration. A closer look at any of the game's larger hub worlds would also be nice.

No Caption Provided

There has been discussion of Lara experiencing more internal conflict this time around. We'd love to get a better idea of what's going on with Lara, and how it has impacted her relationship to the game's supporting cast. Currently, we know that Lara's closest ally Jonah is returning, and it has been stated that he's evolved since his appearance in Rise of the Tomb Raider. An example of how his views clash with Lara's would be great to witness during gameplay. In addition, we hope to get a brief glimpse of the game's antagonist, who we know to be a part of Trinity, the villainous organization from the second game.

This might seem a bit cheesy, but if we can get a confirmation that Lara can use her signature dual-pistols, that would be amazing. Since the reboot series began in 2013, we've been slowly seeing Lara grow into the Tomb Raider we all know her to be. From sheltered archaeology graduate student to strong-willed survivalist, it's only a matter of time before she dawns the dual-pistols and performs acrobatic flips while simultaneously killing and skinning a grizzly bear. Okay, maybe that's a bit too much, but we're really hoping for another reference to Lara's classic pistols--at the very least!

Spawn Movie Won't Be An Origin Story

By Steve Watts on Jun 05, 2018 11:35 pm

The upcoming Spawn film won't bother wasting time recounting the character's origin story, according to Todd McFarlane. The creator, who is pulling double-duty as writer-director for the 2019 film, says he's finds movies that spend time on the backstory "exhausting."

"I can't do it. I can't do it," McFarlane told Comic Book. "I've seen too many movies that spend way too much time for the set-up." To illustrate his point, he referenced another gruff anti-hero. "Why do you think Wolverine was so popular? Because we didn't know who he was for a long, long time. And that's what made him cool. And you can argue that it's like he became a little bit less cool... once you actually gave the origin away, right? I sort of liked him when he was like a mystery."

In both the comics and the film, Spawn is a CIA black ops agent who was betrayed and murdered. After finding himself in Hell for all of his killing of innocents, he makes a bargain with a demon to return to earth to see his wife. But bargains with demons rarely go as planned, so he's sent back hideously disfigured, trapped in his suit, and years after his wife has moved on with her life.

This is similar to comments McFarlane made when the casting of Jamie Foxx was announced, saying he wanted to do a trilogy and didn't intend for the first film to be an origin story. In fact, it sounds like the character of Spawn might not just lack an origin story, but almost any story whatsoever. McFarlane has compared this take on the character to a horror film.

"The scariest movies, from Jaws to John Carpenter's The Thing, or The Grudge and The Ring, the boogeyman doesn't talk," McFarlane said. "It confuses people because of the comic book industry, and because they all default into their Captain America mindset, and I keep saying, no, get into John Carpenter's mindset or Hitchcock. This is not a man in a rubber suit; it's not a hero that's going to come and save the damsel. It's none of that. At the end of the movie, I'm hoping that the audience will say either, is this a ghost that turns into a man, or is it a man that turns into a ghost?"

Destiny 2 E3 2018 Plans Include Playable New Mode And Story Reveals

By Eddie Makuch on Jun 05, 2018 11:31 pm

Destiny 2's upcoming expansion Forsaken is coming to E3 2018, and now we've learned more about what Bungie has in store for the show. During the Forsaken reveal livestream today, Bungie confirmed that the game's new multiplayer mode, Gambit, will be playable on the show floor. Not only that, but Bungie plans to reveal more of Forsaken's story during the event.

Gambit being playable on the show floor is a big deal because E3 is now open to the public, so anyone going to the event can try it before launch in September. Gambit is Destiny 2's much-hyped PvE/PvP hybrid mode where two teams of four fight against waves of AI enemies in their own environment, separate from the other side. Enemies drop motes that you collect and deposit into a chamber of sorts which in turn sends more enemies to the other side's area. At a certain point, one player from each time can "invade" the opposing team's area, putting further pressure on them.

No Caption Provided

It sounds like fun, in part because you don't necessarily have to be the most proficient shooter to get a win. And there is a further element of strategy because you have to choose how to spend your time between killing AI enemies, collecting motes, depositing them, and invading the other side.

Regarding the story in Destiny 2: Forsaken, little is known, though Bungie did confirm that it takes players back to the Reef. However, it has now "fallen to lawlessness." Throughout the story you will investigate the unrest and "explore new regions, awaken new powers, and earn powerful weapons."

During the livestream, Bungie said Forsaken has a "western revenge" vibe. Bungie also showed off a new six-shooter holster and boot spurs that look like they're out of a Clint Eastwood movie. We don't know any more about what Bungie plans to reveal about Forsaken's story at E3, but with so little information out there, fans will be eager to hear whatever Bungie has to share.

No Caption Provided

Another notable takeaway about Forsaken's story content is that it was created by co-developer High Moon Studios, not principal studio Bungie. Activision executive Byron Beede did confirm, however, that High Moon worked in partnership with Bungie on the new story content.

Activision does not have an E3 2018 briefing of its own, but Destiny 2 announcements over the years have come on Sony's stage, so that could happen again this year. Activision has a partnership with Sony to give PlayStation gamers access to some Destiny 2 content first.

NBA 2K19 Names LeBron James As Anniversary Edition Cover Star

By Jordan Ramée on Jun 05, 2018 11:29 pm

Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James face will be dominating the cover of NBA 2K19 20th Anniversary Edition. James is no stranger to appearing on the cover of these games, having been featured as the cover athlete of NBA 2K14 when he was still playing for the Miami Heat.

It comes as no surprise that the image of James is a cropped, close-up of his face. The man can choose to opt out of his contract this summer, and plenty of people believe he'll utilize the opportunity. Considering NBA 2K's recent history of dealing with cover athletes changing teams right before game shipment, it was smart to use a picture of James that doesn't advertise what team he's playing for. NBA 2K18's cover athlete, Kyrie Irving, was initially photographed in his Cavs' jersey just prior to his off-season trade to the Boston Celtics. He had to be photoshopped into his Celtics jersey.

No Caption Provided

This anniversary edition will also feature a variety of LeBron James-themed extras. Most of these goodies will be digital, such as a special LeBron James MyTeam card, LeBron James MyCourt customizations, and 25 pairs of LeBron James-themed Nike shoes. However, buying NBA 2K19 20th Anniversary Edition will also let players nab some physical merch, including a LeBron James poster, sticker sheet, and wristband.

NBA 2K19 launches September 11, but players who pre-order the 20th Anniversary Edition will be able to play the game four days earlier on September 7. Both versions will come to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. Anyone who decides to play the game on PS4 or Xbox One can download NBA 2K19: The Prelude on August 31 if they want to get a head start on their MyCareer modes.

Destiny 2 Forsaken DLC Release Date, Trailer, And New Details

By Eddie Makuch on Jun 05, 2018 11:17 pm

Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion will launch on September 4, developer Bungie announced today during a livestream event. The expansion, which follows the Warmind add-on in May, is a big one. As outlined in a mini-documentary that you can see in the embed above, Forsaken adds a lot to Destiny 2.

As rumoured, Forsaken takes players back to the Reef as part of a story that Bungie is keeping quiet about for now. What Bungie did say is that Forsaken's story has a western revenge theme, and that it begins with a prison break with Cayde-6. More details on the story are coming at E3 next week.

No Caption Provided

Forsaken also makes a number of changes to weapons, starting with the fact that the Kinetic slot can now have shotguns. There is also a new mod system coming, along with an updated Masterwork system that lets you level up your guns over time. There is also a brand-new weapon coming to Destiny 2 in the form of a bow and arrow.

What's more, Forsaken adds new Super abilities, one of which is called Fire Knives and it allows you to do exactly what that sounds like. Another is a giant hammer that you can slam down to turn into a fire tornado. Additionally, the Void Warlock can now teleport and then explode.

The new, much-hyped multiplayer mode coming in Destiny 2 Forsaken is called Gambit. It's a competitive PvE mode where you fight against AI enemies. They drop motes that you then load into a chamber that sends a blocker over onto the other team's area. At a certain point one players can actually invade the other side's area and do damage that way.

The new raid in Forsaken is called Dreaming City. It has more bosses than any previous Destiny raid, and it has a massive roam area like Dreadnaught with puzzles and secrets to explore. More activities will be added to the raid over time.

Finally, Forsaken is adding Collections, which is a way to track all of the items you can acquire as you play. You can look at sets, see how to go and get it. You can just see how many weapons there are. Also coming to Destiny 2 are Triumphs, which track your achievements and accomplishments, as well as new Exotics.

Forsaken costs $40 by itself, while you can also get it with the new Annual Pass for $70. For more on Destiny 2: Forsaken, check out GameSpot's recent stories below.

Pokemon Go: Last Chance To Catch Latios / Latias

By Kevin Knezevic on Jun 05, 2018 10:51 pm

Pokemon Go's latest Legendaries, Latios and Latias, have been a staple of Raid Battles for the past couple of months, but the Eon Pokemon won't be around for much longer. Both Legendaries will only appear until today, June 5, making this your final opportunity to capture one if you still haven't.

Like most other Legendaries, Latios and Latias can be encountered in Raid Battles at Gyms, although each one is only available in specific regions. After swapping locations back in May, Latios can be found in Europe and Asia, while Latias is appearing across North America, South America, and Africa.

As usual, players will need to team up with other Trainers to first battle the Legendaries, and only after the Pokemon has been defeated will players get a chance to capture it. Both Latios and Latias are dual Dragon/Psychic-types, making them especially susceptible to Dark and Fairy Pokemon like Tyranitar and Mawile.

While Latios and Latias are on the way out, players still have a few more days to capture another Legendary Pokemon, Ho-Oh. The Rainbow Pokemon recently returned to Raid Battles earlier this month, where it will remain until June 7. Players can also take on a new assortment of Field Research quests, which lead to another encounter with the Legendary Articuno.

June 5 also marks the day Pokemon Go's latest in-game event, Adventure Week, is scheduled to end. Until then, Rock-type Pokemon such as Nosepass, Omanyte, and Kabuto will spawn more frequently, and players will earn extra XP for spinning photo discs at Pokestops and Gyms. The next Community Day event, meanwhile, takes place on June 16 and features another Rock-type Pokemon, Larvitar.

Dark Souls-Like Game Code Vein Gets Release Date And Trailer

By Jeremy Winslow on Jun 05, 2018 10:43 pm

As if there weren't enough Souls games already, Bandai Namco has announced the release date for its Souls-like RPG, Code Vein. The game is scheduled to launch on September 28, following the releases of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (September 4), Spider-Man (September 7), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (September 12), and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy (September 21). It seems September is a pretty jammed-packed month this year, and E3 2018 is still just a week away.

Back in October of last year, we had a chance to check out Code Vein, saying, "Dubbed 'anime Dark Souls' by many, it draws heavy influence from From Software's acclaimed Souls series, most notably in its difficulty." Around the same time, we learned that Code Vein will not feature an easier difficulty setting. Instead, you'll be able to "freely change your character's Blood Code during the course of the game, allowing you adjust your character's stats to adapt to new challenges."

And, of course, in similar Souls fashion, Code Vein will feature online co-op. "You can send out a distress signal to summon a different player," but "this player will have to fulfill 'certain conditions,' although it's unclear what these conditions will be." We'll have a few months to see what those conditions are.

Code Vein will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Blizzard Confirms New Diablo Project In The Works

By Chris Pereira on Jun 05, 2018 10:38 pm

An unannounced Diablo project of some sort is officially in development, Blizzard has revealed. A job listing on the company's website confirms as much, although--this being a job posting and not a proper announcement--there aren't any real details about what to expect.

The job opening is for a dungeon artist on the Diablo franchise, but the game is listed as an "unannounced project." The description makes it clear upfront that this position will be working on something new: "The minions of Hell are growing stronger... We're working on a new, unannounced Diablo project."

The remainder of the post doesn't offer much else, although it sounds as if this new project won't dramatically deviate from the typical look of a Diablo game. "The ideal candidate works well in an environment of peers who are passionate about working on the dark gothic world of Diablo, making great games, killing millions of monsters and getting loot," it states.

Blizzard has not announced any new Diablo games to date, although this isn't the first job opening to suggest one might be in the works. Whether this new project is a full-on sequel like Diablo 4 or something else remains to be seen. But with little in the way of major content updates for Diablo III released in the past few years outside of the Rise of the Necromancer DLC, fans have been holding out hope that something new was in the works.

There's no indication of when we'll be hearing official details about the project. E3 2018 is right around the corner, but there's been no word that the company plans to unveil a new game there. We'll report back whenever we do hear more. Meanwhile, we're still waiting to hear about the rumored Diablo III for Switch.

Microsoft has reset its weekly sale, so a whole new batch of Xbox One and Xbox 360 games are available for discounted prices. Destiny 2 Introducing Annual Pass That Adds New Content And Activities Through Summer 2019

By Eddie Makuch on Jun 05, 2018 10:06 pm

Today during Bungie's Destiny 2 Forsaken livestream, the developer also announced a new paid offering for the game called an Annual Pass. This will include three updates, beginning with Black Armory in Winter 2018, followed by Joker's Wild in Spring 2019, and Penumbra in Summer 2019.

During the livestream, Bungie said this is a "new way for us to deliver content," with the idea being that Bungie will release content faster than before. Bungie has in the past been criticised for not releasing content fast enough and not making the end-game compelling enough.

No Caption Provided

To that end, Destiny 2's new content updates will add more endgame challenges, as well as new weapons, armor, and vanity rewards to collect. There will also be new and returning Exotics, along with new Pinnacle activities (which are said to be extra-challenging) and more Triumph records to collect. There will also be more lore to discover.

During the stream, Bungie community manager David Dague stressed again and again that the new Annual Pass content is not to be thought as being similar to Destiny 2's big expansions like Warmind and Forsaken.

Forsaken will cost $40 by itself, and Bungie will also sell a Forsaken + Annual Pass bundle for $70, which suggests that the Annual Pass will go for around $30 by itself. An $80 Digital Deluxe edition featuring Forsaken, the Annual Pass, and even more content will be available for $80.

Destiny 2 Forsaken DLC's Major New Mode Gambit Revealed

By Chris Pereira on Jun 05, 2018 10:00 pm

With another Destiny 2 DLC expansion, Forsaken, on the way later this year, Activision had been teasing that some kind of innovative new mode was coming. With Forsaken now being revealed, Bungie has shared the first details about this new mode, which is called Gambit.

Gambit is a blend of PvP and PvE. Two teams of four are separated into different areas, although they'll see each other at the start of a match to emote their hearts out. They'll then face off against waves of AI enemies who drop motes. These can be collected and deposited to send more enemies to the other team's area; you'll need to bank them routinely, as you can only hold 15 and lose them if you die. At a certain point, one player from each time can "invade" the opposing team's area, putting further pressure on them.

During a livestream, Bungie said its goal was to offer a "new experience" with Gambit. It says that it takes PvP and makes it into something where your success isn't necessarily dictated by being able to shoot faster or more accurately than another player. At any given time, you'll have to decide whether you should kill AI enemies, collect motes, deposit motes, or invade (assuming a teammate isn't already doing so).

Gambit will be playable at E3 2018, so we should be hearing much more about it very soon. The new mode is just one of several components that comprise the new Forsaken expansion along with new areas of the Reef to explore, a new Raid, new Supers, and more.

WWE Money In The Bank 2018 Match Card: Shinsuke Nakamura, Matt Hardy, Ronda Rousey, And More

By Mat Elfring on Jun 05, 2018 09:33 pm

Money in the Bank comes to PPV and the WWE Network on Sunday, June 17, and it will have been more than a month since the last PPV, and the fans needed a break. It's a new era for WWE as future major events will feature both Raw and Smackdown superstars, much like Backlash did last month. Coming live from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL, Money in the Bank will stream over the WWE Network and available on PPV.

WWE is pushing this PPV to be a bigger event, and Money in the Bank will have an earlier start time compared to other shows, starting at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT, with a Kickoff show starting one hour prior. We're expecting this show to be as long as Survivor Series or Royal Rumble, and the reasoning behind this is to accommodate all the wrestlers, at least that's according to some of the MITB rumors. As of this writing, no matches have been announced for the Kickoff, and currently, there are ten matches on the card with a couple more expected to be booked.

The main events of the evening will be the two Money in the Bank matches: one for the men and one for the women. Last year, Baron Corbin and Carmella--with help from James Ellsworth--won those respective matches with Carmella successfully cashing in her contract earlier this year. In 2018, the ante has been upped as there will now be eight superstars instead of six in each MITB match. As of this writing, all the combatants are locked in, but the New Day just needs to decide which member will compete in the men's match.

Alongside those two ladder matches, Ronda Rousey makes her singles debut. Her last match was at Wrestlemania when she teamed with Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Rousey will be fighting current Raw Women's Champion Nia Jax for the title. Additionally, Sami Zayn will fight Bobby Lashley, which comes from the fallout of a terrible segment where Zayn interviewed Lashley's supposed sisters who were men in drag. Even after Zayn gave a heartfelt apology, Lashley still wants revenge.

No Caption Provided

However, aside from the MITB matches, the bout to watch will be AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in a Last Man Standing match. The two men have been involved in a bitter rivalry filled with numerous punches and kicks to the groin, many of which have ended the match for numerous reasons. Now, the only way to lose this match is to be knocked out until the ref counts to 10. Don't worry, there will still be plenty of low blows in this match.

While it has yet to be booked, The B Team--made up of Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel--won a tag team battle royale match on the June 4 episode of Raw, making them the number one contenders for the Raw Tag Team Championships. It seems more than likely their match against The Deleters Of Worlds--Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt--will happen at MITB. However, this has not been confirmed yet.

Money in the Bank Match Card:

  • Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass
  • Nia Jax (c) vs. Ronda Rousey (For the Raw Women's Championship)
  • Carmella (c) vs. Asuka (For the Smackdown Women's Championship)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Jinder Mahal
  • Bobby Lashley vs. Sami Zayn
  • Seth Rollins (c) vs. Elias (For the Intercontinental Championship)
  • The Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs. The Good Brothers (For the Smackdown Tag Team Championship)
  • AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Championship)
  • Lana, Natalya, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, Ember Moon, Becky Lynch, Naomi, and Sasha Banks (Money in the Bank match)
  • Samoa Joe, Kevin Owens, Bobby Roode, Braun Strowman, The Miz, Rusev, Finn Balor, and one member of The New Day (Money in the Bank match)

Come back to GameSpot on Sunday, June 17 for live coverage of the show.

Fortnite Update Out Now, Adds New Bouncer Item

By Kevin Knezevic on Jun 05, 2018 09:19 pm

Some new content is on the way soon to Fortnite. The game's 4.3 content update is scheduled to roll out tomorrow, June 5, for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and iOS, and it's set to introduce another new item to Battle Royale. [Update: The update is out now; here are the patch notes.]

The update is scheduled to roll out on all platforms at 5 AM PT / 8 AM ET / 1 PM BST and won't require any server downtime, the official Fortnite Twiter account announced. The tweet didn't reveal any further details regarding the contents of the update, only saying, "Bounce to impressive new heights in the v4.3 Content Update."

This is a not-so-subtle reference to the Bouncer, a new item that recently appeared in Fortnite's in-game updates section. The Bouncer is a type of trap that can be found in Treasure Chests, Supply Drops, Supply Llamas, or as floor loot. Players can place it on the ground or walls; when stepped on, it'll send players flying into the air.

The new content update follows last week's v4.3 patch, which introduced rideable Shopping Carts to Battle Royale. The update also made an assortment of performance improvements and added a new foraged item, mushrooms, which grant 5 shield when consumed.

Meanwhile, the next set of weekly challenges are slated to arrive on Thursday, June 7. In recent weeks, Epic would release new challenges alongside Fortnite's weekly updates, but for the remainder of Season 4, the developer will roll out challenges every Thursday, as it once used to. In the meantime, you can check out our guide on how to complete Week 5's challenges.

All Games Confirmed For E3 2018: Spider-Man, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Battlefield 5

By Chris Pereira on Jun 05, 2018 09:16 pm

E3 is the biggest showcase for video games every year, and E3 2018 is shaping up to be no different. While events like Gamescom might be far larger in terms of sheer attendance, E3 is still the premiere place for developers to showcase their upcoming projects. There are sure to be many games that we don't know about, but let's run through all of the ones that have been confirmed for the convention so far.

While E3 used to be more concentrated from an audience's perspective, the show has effectively been spread out to last nearly a full week. Press conferences and showcases have come earlier and earlier; the first of the bunch this year will again be EA Play, Electronic Arts' pre-E3 event. We don't know the show's full lineup, but the publisher has already confirmed that two of its biggest upcoming games will be there: Anthem and Battlefield V. BioWare's Anthem is a Destiny-esque open-world action game that we've still yet to hear much about, so EA Play should provide us with a firmer idea of what expect. Similarly, we should learn even more about the new features Battlefield V will offer as it takes the franchise back to World War II.

Battlefield's chief competition, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, will also make an appearance at E3. Another Activision shooter, Destiny 2, will also be there, as Bungie is set to share details on an upcoming mode due out this fall that offers a "new style of play" for first-person shooters.

Super Smash Bros. for Switch will be among Nintendo's biggest games at the show, while Sony has said its press conference will focus primarily on four games: Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and The Last of Us Part II. There will, however, be some projects from third-party developers shown there, while Microsoft's conference remains a mystery.

There's sure to be a lot more on display, and there's always a good chance of some kind of surprise. We know, for instance, that The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red will be in attendance, though we don't know if it'll be actually showing off a game. There was also a lot seemingly leaked by Walmart Canada earlier in May; one of those games, Rage 2, has proven to be real, so perhaps more of those games will turn out to be at E3. Read on for the full list of confirmed games so far, and check back as we continue to update in the lead-up to the show, which runs from June 12-14.

E3 2018: All Nintendo Switch Games Confirmed -- Super Smash Bros, Monster Hunter

By Kevin Knezevic on Jun 05, 2018 09:12 pm

We're coming up quickly on the biggest gaming showcase of the year, E3 2018, and this year's expo is shaping up to be an important one for many developers. That holds especially true for Nintendo. With the Switch well into its second year on the market, the company will look to continue the system's impressive early momentum with a strong E3 showing--although what that will consist of is still very much up in the air.

Nintendo has been characteristically quiet in the weeks leading up to E3, which has certainly not helped stymie the rumor mill from churning. Reports have been swirling about the possible games the company will unveil during its E3 2018 presentation, such as a purported Star Fox racing game from Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios.

Of course, that remains unsubstantiated, so we have little idea of what surprises await during Nintendo's presentation this year. The company, for its part, has only confirmed a handful of titles that will appear in its E3 2018 lineup. We know Super Smash Bros. for Switch will feature prominently in its E3 broadcasts and be playable on the E3 showfloor. We also know that Nintendo will host an esports competition for Splatoon 2, which is set to receive a big, paid DLC expansion this summer. And Capcom's recently announced Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will be shown off ahead of its Switch launch this summer.

Outside of those games, however, Nintendo's E3 lineup remains shrouded in mystery, although there are a number of already-announced games that could very well show up. Nintendo has previously said that a Switch installment of Fire Emblem will launch in 2018, although we've yet to see it. Beyond that, it seems safe to assume we'll hear more details about the upcoming "core" Pokemon RPG for Switch. We may also learn more about Metroid Prime 4 and Yoshi for Switch, both of which were announced at last year's E3.

Whatever the case, we'll know for sure in only a couple of weeks. Nintendo will broadcast its Direct-style E3 presentation online on Tuesday, June 12, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, just prior to when E3 proper begins. Until then, you can see the full list of confirmed Switch games for E3 2018 below.

Destiny 2's Forsaken DLC Reveal Livestream: When And How To Watch

By Eddie Makuch on Jun 05, 2018 09:02 pm

Bungie is gearing up to make what sounds like a big Destiny 2 announcement ahead of E3 2018. The studio announced today that its Year 2 livestream will take place on Tuesday, June 5. The stream, which you'll be able to watch on Twitch through the embed below, begins at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET.

The reveal event will offer a first look at what Bungie has lined up for Destiny 2's second year. This includes "some big ideas for how we're going to transform your Guardian lifestyle and reinforce your hobby as an interplanetary hero."

A number of Destiny 2 developers will appear on the stream, including game director Steve Cotton and project lead Scott Taylor. "We'll respond to a bunch of community feedback and unveil some other things you haven't even been looking forward to… yet," Bungie said. "We'll top it all off with a look at a new Roadmap with exciting new promises for everyone."

The reveal event is just the beginning, as Bungie says it is only the "beginning of a conversation that will last all summer long." We're expecting to see and hear more about Destiny 2 Year 2 content at E3 2018.

Following Warmind, Destiny 2's next big expansion is coming this fall. It will introduce an "incredibly engaging new mode," according to publisher Activision.

Activision's Coddy Johnson said recently that this new mode introduces a "whole new style of play for first-person shooter gaming generally and certainly for the shared-world shooter space that Destiny created." He added: "It's a really exciting development. It's one of the things we think will really speak to the community when it comes out in the fall."

Hitman 2 Leaks Ahead Of E3 2018, It Seems

By Eddie Makuch on Jun 05, 2018 08:56 pm

There are now a few reasons to believe a new Hitman game may be on the way. The official Hitman account sent out a cryptic tweet today that points to some kind of reveal on June 7, which is the same day that publisher Warner Bros. is holding a pre-E3 2018 reveal event.

A tweet from the WB Games account shows a race car with the brand "Hamsun" on it; that could be a reference to the fictitious oil company referenced in Hitman Season 1. A more direct indication that Hitman 2 is coming is that a logo for Hitman 2 was found on WB's official website. So yeah.

The Hitman series was created and continues to be developed by IO Interactive, which was owned by Square Enix before the Japanese company sold it off. As part of the sale, IO Interactive kept the rights to the Hitman franchise. Given how well the game was received and the profile of the brand overall, it's no surprise that another big studio would come along to work with IO on more games.

IO previously talked about three seasons' worth of content for Hitman, and the studio continued to work on new Hitman content even amid the sale process.

For now, this is just a rumour, even if it's a believable-sounding one. You can check out GameSpot's E3 2018 rumour roundup to find out more about what's rumoured ahead of the big show.

Red Dead Redemption 2: What We Want At E3 2018

By Matt Espineli on Jun 05, 2018 08:30 pm

Rockstar Games doesn't usually have a large presence at E3; it tends to announce details about its latest games on its own schedule. But seeing as Red Dead Redemption II is only a few months away, it's possible we'll hear more about the upcoming open-world Western at this year's big event. To prepare for what's ahead, let's break down what we already know about Red Dead Redemption II, and what we're hoping to see at E3 2018.

What We Know So Far

Red Dead Redemption II was revealed on October 20, 2016. Developer Rockstar Games had initially teased the project on social media two days prior with images in the color and theme of Red Dead Redemption, but eventually confirmed its development with a trailer. While Red Dead Redemption II is a sequel in name, it's actually a prequel to the original's story.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8Gallery image 9Gallery image 10

Set 12 years before the events of Red Dead Redemption, the prequel focuses on the exploits of the infamous Van der Linde gang--who fans should already be familiar with. After a robbery in the town of Blackwater goes wrong, the gang is forced to flee. You play as outlaw Arthur Morgan, who must help keep the gang in-check in the midst of its desperate attempts to avoid the pursuit of government agents and rival gangs. It's also worth noting the gang includes a younger, less-experienced version of the original's protagonist, John Marston.

Red Dead Redemption II is expected to play much like its predecessor, focusing on exploration, hunting, shoot-outs, heists, and other side-activities where you'll interact with a number of unique characters. However, it also features a far more expansive map to explore. Based on what we've learned from trailers and early previews, your impact on the world is a bigger focus. As Morgan, you'll have to handle various responsibilities, such as resource gathering, earning money, and making sure everyone in the community is happy. Average citizens and members of your gang will react to how well or how poorly you treat them from day to day. This also impacts the honor system, which makes a return from the original, but now with more complex tracking.

What's Confirmed For E3?

Red Dead Redemption II is not confirmed to appear at E3 2018. However, Rockstar Games has a habit of debuting new trailers for its latest games at E3 press conferences. For example, Rockstar released a trailer for Grand Theft Auto V during E3 2013. Given the sequel's upcoming release, there's potential for at least another brief look at the game at this year's show.

What We Hope To See At E3

There are still unexplored mysteries about how Red Dead Redemption II actually plays. We're hoping E3 can be a place where such details are divulged. While Rockstar has typically been fine showing off trailers, a full-on gameplay demonstration could serve as a nice way of showcasing what Red Dead Redemption II's combat and exploration looks like.

No Caption Provided

Customization was an underutilized aspect in Red Dead Redemption. While you could craft a few new outfits, you couldn't really alter the cosmetics of anything else. We're hoping Rockstar confirms more customization options for clothing, weapons, and even your horse.

Multiplayer has been an important pillar for Rockstar's most recent games, so it would be great to get a better idea of what's in store. There's still so much we don't know about Red Dead Redemption II's multiplayer. Will the mode have heists like Grand Theft Auto Online? Will there be co-op? Hopefully, this year's show yields answers.

Lastly, we're still eager to hear more details about Red Dead Redemption II's story. From the synopsis, Arthur Morgan is a conflicted individual; his loyalty to the Van der Linde gang is slowly faltering due to the extreme circumstances they're embroiled in. It would be fantastic to learn about how these elements affect Morgan's relationships with his fellow gang members and those he cares about.

WWE Money In The Bank 2018 Rumors: Why Isn't Daniel Bryan In The Main Event?

By Mat Elfring on Jun 05, 2018 08:19 pm

WWE has made a push to make Money In The Bank one of the bigger PPVs of the year, following in the footsteps of Summerslam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania. Because of this, MITB has a lot of hype around it this year, and that means plenty of rumors surrounding the June PPV.

MITB will have an earlier start time this year when it airs on Sunday, June 17 at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT, with a Kickoff Show starting one hour earlier. According to PW Insider, MITB starting earlier is to accommodate talent. Because future events feature superstars from both Raw and Smackdown, the PPV match cards can't feature everyone, so adding an extra hour means WWE can fit a few more matches at each event. It's unknown at this time if future PPVs will also start earlier as well, but it seems likely.

Recently, Daniel Bryan was added to the card but not in the titular Money In The Bank match. According to Wrestling Observer (via Wrestling News), it's because the ladder match is a high-risk event, and the last thing Bryan needs is another concussion, which would more than likely force him back into retirement.

As for the Raw Women's Championship match, which was booked at a red carpet event where the champion made the challenge--yes, that's truly weird--Ronda Rousey's match against champion Nia Jax is going to be short, according to Wrestling Observer. While Rousey is still new to the WWE and professional wrestling in general, she proved that she could hang in the ring at Wrestlemania, even though she had three veterans in the ring with her to help out. However, MITB will be her singles debut in the company, so we shouldn't expect anything more than 10 minutes.

The main events of the evening will be the two Money in the Bank matches: one for the men and the other for the women. The matches will feature superstars from both Raw and Smackdown brands. Early on, The Miz was a favorite to win the men's match, and additionally, a rumor from WrestleVotes said a Smackdown star--which The Miz is on--would win the match. However, the favorite to win is currently Braun Strowman, who is on the Raw roster. There have also been whispers on Finn Balor winning after he climbed a ladder and grabbed one of the cases hanging above the ring on the June 4 episode of Raw. His winning may all depend on whether or not we see the Demon version of Balor who hasn't been around for eight months now.

One of the big questions for the men's Money in the Bank match is which member of The New Day will wrestle in the match? Many have speculated it will be Xavier Woods, but PW Insider said they heard Big E will be the one to enter the match. Chances are that we won't know who will be in the match for sure until the PPV.

As for the women, there haven't been a lot of rumors surrounding their main even match. Many people are putting their money down on Ember Moon, who was recently signed to Raw, to win the event over veterans like Natalya and Charlotte.

We'll keep you updated on all the latest MITB rumors leading up to the June 17 event. Check out the full match card, and make sure to come back the night of the PPV for GameSpot's live coverage.

New John Wick 3 Image: Canine Cool At The Continental

By Dan Auty on Jun 05, 2018 08:15 pm

Production continues on the much-anticipated action sequel John Wick: Chapter 3, and following last month's first teaser and casting news, we have another new image. This time it features co-star Halle Berry, who is playing a character called Sofia.

The image was released via the movie's official Twitter account. We don't know anything about Berry's character beyond her name, but she is walking through what could be one of the hotels in the Continental chain with two fearsome-looking dogs. The caption reads "A woman on a mission"--check it out below:

John Wick: Chapter 3 hits theaters on May 16, 2019, with Keanu Reeves returning as the reluctant assassin. Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Laurence Fishburne are set to reprise their roles from the previous movies, while Asia Kate Dillon (Orange is the New Black), Mark Dacascos (Cradle 2 the Grave), Jason Mantzoukas (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place), and Angelica Huston (Isle of Dogs) are new additions to the cast.

John Wick: Chapter 3 is directed by Chad Stahelski, who helmed Chapter 2 and co-directed the first movie. Last year, Stahelski spoke about his plans for John Wick: Chapter 3. "We want, not so much to go bigger on the third one, but to show you more of the intricacies of the world," he said. "I feel like there are all these different subtleties that I skipped over in Part 2, that I'd like to go back to [with Part 3] and show you the inner workings of different parts of New York."

Development of the long-rumored John Wick TV spin-off The Continental was also confirmed by Starz in January. The channel's president Chris Albrecht said that the show will "include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world." The Continental does not yet have a premiere date.

Lego Movie 2 Trailer Is A Mad Max Hellscape, But Still Awesome

By Dan Auty on Jun 05, 2018 07:36 pm

The first trailer for the The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part has arrived. The sequel to 2014's animated smash The Lego Movie has been in the works for several years, but doesn't arrive until February next year. In the meantime, this first promo gives us an idea of what to expect.

The trailer picks up where the first movie left off, with Bricksburg now a terrifying Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic wasteland. Of course, Emmet is still as obliviously happy as ever, but when Wyldstyle, Batman, and some of his other pals are captured, he has to head into outer space get them back. Check it out above.

This trailer follows the first poster, which was released last month. The voice cast includes Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Tiffany Haddish, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, and Alison Brie.

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part will be directed by Mike Mitchell, who previous helmed the hugely successful Trolls. He is actually the third director to be attached to the project, following Chris McKay, who instead made The Lego Batman Movie, and Rob Schrab, who exited the movie due to "creative differences."

As the trailer suggests, the movie will address some of the gender politics around both the first movie and the way kids play with toys. This is something that McKay, who remains on board as a producer, spoke about in a recent interview with Collider. "[It looks at] what's different and similar about gender, when a boy plays vs. how a girl plays," he said. "It's going to be like the first Lego Movie was, where it's about something else that's really profound. I'm really excited about where the movie is gonna go because it's about these things that are actual notions that people have that might even be unconscious biases, where people don't even realize that that's the way they're looking at the world."

First Bumblebee Trailer Delivers Retro '80s Transformers Action

By Dan Auty on Jun 05, 2018 06:41 pm

The future of the Transformers franchise might be uncertain, but we're definitely getting at least one more movie. The spin-off Bumblebee hits theaters in December and will focus on the earlier adventures of the much-loved yellow VW Autobot. The first trailer has now arrived.

The trailer confirms earlier reports that the movie will have a smaller feel than the main Transformers films. It's set in California in the 1980s, and stars Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) as a young woman who finds Bumblebee in a trash heap. We see Steinfeld and Bumblebee slowly bonding, and there's a brief appearance from Starscream, who, like Bumblebee, can be seen in his classic '80s design. Check it out above.

Bumblebee also features WWE star John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Jason Drucker (Diary of Wimpy Kid), Ricardo Hoyos (The Belko Experiment), and Gracie Dzienny (Chasing Life). It's directed by Travis Knight, who previously helmed the Oscar-nominated animated movie Kubo And The Two Strings. It hit theaters on December 21.

When Bumblebee was first announced, it was supposed to be the first in an ongoing spin-off universe of Transformers movies. However, last year's Transformers: The Last Knight was a financial disappointment compared to the previous four films. As a result, the Transformers movie originally scheduled for 2019 has been removed entirely from Paramount's schedules.

This follows the rumors back in February that Habsro, the toy manufacturer which owns the rights to Transformers, is planning to reboot the whole franchise. It was also reported that a new agreement with Paramount means that Hasbro will have greater control over the property, including greenlighting movie projects.

Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 Will Be "Very Different," Director Says

By Dan Auty on Jun 05, 2018 06:40 pm

While the only movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a confirmed release date beyond next year's currently-untitled Avengers 4 is the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, we do know that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will follow in 2020. Production is set to start early next year, and both star Chris Pratt and director James Gunn have been speaking about the movie. Warning--Avengers: Infinity War spoilers to follow.

In a recent interview with MTV, Pratt revealed exactly when he would be resuming his lead role as Star Lord. "I'm slated to film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in January," he confirmed. Of course, fans will know that Star Lord was one of the many casualties of Infinity War, so Pratt was also asked about coming back for both Avengers 4 and GOTG 3, despite currently being dead. Unsurprisingly, his reply was rather vague. "We don't know yet, time-wise, where that lines up [with Avengers 4]," he said. "I'm hoping it's not the last you'll see me, but I can't be sure."

James Gunn, meanwhile, recently took part in one of his regular Facebook Q&As and gave fans an update on the state of Vol. 3's script. "I'm more than a year into the process, so the script is far along," he said. "For many many months I first write the treatment which is 80 pages or so with photographs. That turns into GotG. I'm now rewriting and making sure my rough draft works.

"It's very, very, very different," he continued. "Very different, but I won't say how! You'll have to wait to see the movie, it's a long time away."

Gunn was also asked if Disney's potential purchase of Fox's entertainment assets would affect the story, given he might soon have access to Fox's Marvel characters. "Not gonna happen in any major way," he said. "Too far along."

Gunn first confirmed that he would return for another Guardians movie in April last year. "There is a history in Hollywood of haphazard endings to trilogies, and I didn't want to become a part of that dishonorable tradition of pretending the third one doesn't exist," he explained. "I couldn't do it for the money, and I couldn't do it because it was what other people wanted me to do. I needed to do it because it was what I needed to do. So, yes, I'm returning to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."

New Wreck-It Ralph 2 Trailer Is A Crazy, Hilarious Visual Feast

By Dan Auty on Jun 05, 2018 06:40 pm

It's taken six years, but the sequel to 2012's animated arcade game comedy Wreck-It Ralph arrives later this year. Ralph Breaks the Internet hits theaters in November, and following February's teaser, we have the first full-length trailer.

The trailer shows Ralph and Vanellope plunged into the brave new world of the internet, with predictability (and hilariously) chaotic results. The pair traverse a wild visual representation of the net, which features a mind-boggling number of brands, sites, and social media channels. From Google, Twitter, and Facebook to Amazon, IMDB, and National Geographic, it's all in there. And this being a Disney production, there are plenty of reference to its own properties, including Star Wars, Marvel, and a room of Disney princesses. Check it out above.

Ralph Breaks the Internet is directed by Zootopia's Rich Moore and Phil Johnston. The voice cast includes John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, and Jane Lynch, who reprise their roles from the first movie, plus Taraji P. Henson, Alan Tudyk, and James Corden.

When the movie was first announced, the filmmakers spoke about their plans for it. "From the moment we started working on the first Wreck-It Ralph, we knew there were so many possibilities with these characters," Moore said.

"This time, Ralph's wrecking wreaks havoc on the Web--as only he can do. Characters we loved in the first film are back and we are ecstatic to be working with them--and the actors who voice them--once again. The world of the internet is the perfect place to send Ralph and Vanellope. The scope and scale are so vast and the possibilities for comedy are endless."

Wreck-It Ralph was a big success, making more than $470 million at the global box office and earning a nomination for an Academy Award. Ralph Breaks the Internet hits theaters on November 21.

DC's Wonder Woman 2: First Logo Teased, '80s Setting Confirmed

By Dan Auty on Jun 05, 2018 06:38 pm

While the DC universe hasn't exactly been a complete success so far, the one movie that was both critically praised and a commercial smash was Wonder Woman. It was the biggest grossing movie of last summer, and expectations are high for next year's sequel. With production on Wonder Woman 2 about to start, producer Geoff Johns has teased a logo for the movie.

Johns took to Facebook to showcase the logo. It reads WW84, with the letters designed with a VHS-style static effect. We've known for some time that Wonder Woman 2 will be set in the 1980s, and this suggests that it'll specifically take place in 1984. Check it out below:

Wonder Woman 2 will see Gal Gadot reprise her role as the Amazonian superhero. Kristin Wiig is set to play the villainous Cheetah, and last month, Game of Thrones and Narcos actor Pedro Pascal was added to the cast. The movie will be directed by Patty Jenkins, who helmed the first movie. Her deal is reportedly in the $7-9 million range, which has set a record for a female director.

Last year, it was reported that the movie will "send Diana against the forces of Soviet Union in the closing days of the Cold War." In addition, Jenkins has teased that the movie will be a "funny and a great love story [with] a couple new unbelievable characters who I'm so excited about, who are very different than were in the last movie."

Wonder Woman 2 hits theaters on November 1, 2019.
