It's the 30th anniversary of the action classic Die Hard--which is the greatest Christmas movie of all time, no matter what Bruce Willis says--and to celebrate, Fox took journalists on a tour of the real life Nakatomi Plaza, AKA Fox Plaza. The building, located near the Fox Lot in Century City, California, was under construction during filming of Die Hard, and today it remains largely unchanged--which is super awesome for massive Die Hard fans like us. Did you know that the location in which Hans's crew plants the bombs to blow the roof is actually a building exterior? How about the fact that the staircase that goes up to the roof in the film is actually the property's lowest point, underground, and practically across the street in terms of its actual relation to the tower itself? And what about that handrail the police's armored car took out during their assault on the plaza? It turns out it was never replaced, believe it or not. Die Hard isn't just a great Christmas movie. It's also one of the best action movies ever made. The building itself is a large part of that--it feels like a realistic location, because it is one. Having a sense of geography and place is important in action movies, and being able to track where John McClane and Hans's goons are in relation to one another at any given point in the movie is crucial to why Die Hard is so enjoyable. Seeing the real interiors--and the exteriors on the roof--where it was shot enhances that enjoyment even further. Fox capped the tour off with a special screening of the Die Hard 30th Anniversary Edition outside the building, complete with photo ops to take pictures of Sergeant Powell's cop car and Argyle's limo. The Die Hard 30th Anniversary Edition is available now on Blu-ray, 4K, and digitally.
They set up a Nakatomi sign outside the building.
These elevators look familiar.
Nakatomi Corp. is still listed in the building's directory, along with characters like "John McClane (guest)."
This small counter is a great place to grab a Crunch bar and have a shoot-out with the LAPD.
In the film there are five rails here; the police armored car takes out the middle one, and after filming it was never replaced, according to the tour guide.
Not the exact same truck as in the movie, but it'll do for hiding an ambulance in.
Argyle was waiting in the garage.
The ramp the thieves' truck descends into the garage.
This is the scene of the fight between John and Karl, in which Karl gets hanged from a chain.
In the movie this staircase leads shortly to the roof, but it's actually the lowest point in the whole property, underground.
Karl slides down this stairwell early in the movie.
These footprints have been here for 30 years--what's the cleaning crew been up to?
"Girls."
Don't worry, he was fine.
Hopefully there was no C4 strapped in between.
Someone was doing their homework.
How'd we do recreating it?
Who doesn't love Twinkies?

San Diego Comic-Con is officially behind us for 2018. The yearly event that brings together all things movies, TV shows, comics, and video games for one big show has wrapped up, but not without first delivering a ton of news and trailers, as well as some tremendous cosplay. We've been rounding up the best cosplay we've seen each day of the show, as well as the best stuff centered around companies like Marvel and DC. Now, we're highlighting the very best cosplay from the entirety of SDCC. That includes Power Rangers' Lord Zedd, Skyrim's Dragonborn, Guardians of the Galaxy's Nebula, Ace Ventura, and even a Funko Pop version of Star Wars' Rey. Being an event that is primarily attended by the public, the huge number of fans gathering in one place means there is no shortage of varied cosplay. Whether you're looking for your favorite characters from Overwatch, Avengers: Infinity War, or far more obscure properties, you're likely to bump into someone dressed up as such while exploring Comic-Con. With your cosplay needs satisfied, there's plenty else from Comic-Con to get caught up on. There were countless trailers, including the debuts for big-name movies like Aquaman, Shazam, Glass, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and Godzilla: King of Monsters. On the TV show side, there was Titans (with a controversial comment on Batman) and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (making a surprise return), along with plenty from both Walking Dead shows. In terms of news, The Walking Dead was in the headlines as we got confirmation that Andrew Lincoln will leave the show after Season 9. But the biggest thing to come during SDCC wasn't specifically tied to the event. Marvel parent company Disney fired James Gunn as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after controversial old tweets of his resurfaced online. He has since received support from a number of people, including Guardians star Dave Bautista and Michael Rooker, as well as Hellboy's Selma Blair. For a roundup of all the biggest happenings from the event, check out our SDCC coverage at the bottom of this post, and let us know about your biggest takeaways and favorite cosplay in the comments. By Steve Watts on Jul 30, 2018 02:57 pm Hearthstone: The Boomsday Project Expansion Cards
Hearthstone is gearing up for another expansion, and it looks pretty substantial. This time the update comes with a theme focused all around the noble pursuit of science. At least, as noble as it can be when headed up by the notorious Dr. Boom. The dastardly doctor has assembled a team of nine class-based scientists to manage their own wild experiments, to disastrous results. The Boomsday Project will add 135 new cards, with a slew of new card types and keywords. These nine scientists will make up the class Legendary cards for this expansion. Boomsday Project will introduce Legendary spells for the first time, which are engineered to have big and unique effects. These will not, however, specifically synergize with the new Legendary class minions representing the aforementioned scientists. "That's actually something that we talked about, linking them up so they work together, but we decided in the end, most of them are not going to work together," lead designer Mike Donais explained. "We wanted you not to have to own both Legendaries to sort of build the deck that that Legendary is focused on. So in most cases, you actually don't have any synergy between the two." Another new spell type, Projects, focus on symmetric effects that impact both players. The player who takes better advantage of these symmetric effects will have a huge leg-up on the competition. Due to their symmetric effects, these were especially tricky to play-test. New Omega cards will be playable throughout a game for a decent stat ratio, but are given extra power boosts if played once you've reached the 10-Mana threshold. Finally, a new Magnetic keyword will allow you to join Mechs together, inheriting their stats and any keywords or special abilities. As such, the expansion is introducing a lot of new Mechs--both Magnetic and frames that can be built upon. The single-player component, the Puzzle Lab, will take a different tack than the last few expansions. Rather than a series of boss fights like Dungeon Run or Monster Hunt, these will focus on standalone puzzles. You'll have to spot the lethal, imitate the opponent's board state, or just survive, for example. The expansion will launch on August 7, and Puzzle Lab will follow two weeks later. Two separate pre-purchase bundles are now available: a 50-pack bundle for $50 with a golden class Legendary and a Mecha-Jaraxxus card back, or an 80-pack bundle for $80 with the Mecha-Jaraxxus Warlock hero. Blizzard describes this pricing model as an experiment of its own, as the studio is still testing different types of pre-order bundles. Above you can find all of the cards shown so far, and we'll be regularly updating with more cards as they're revealed. Plus be sure to check out or own revealed card and chat with Blizzard's Dave Kosak all about it.
