The new trailer for the Spider-Man spin-off Venom is here. The movie stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a reporter who is taken over by an evil alien symbiote, and it hits theaters in October.
While the previous trailer gave us just a brief glimpse of Venom, this trailer is packed with footage of the creature as it takes control of Brock and causes a lot of mayhem. It certainly delivers on the action and lives up to director Ruben Fleischer's recent claims that it would be much darker than most superhero films. It also features what appears to be Riot, another symbiote. Check it out above.
Venom also stars Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, and Woody Harrelson, and it releases on October 5. It featured at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, where fans were shown some exclusive footage from the movie. In the panel Q&A, Hardy spoke about taking on the role of Eddie Brock, and revealed that it was all due to his son.
"My son came to me with a specific character that he absolutely fell in love with, and I started to take a look at it myself," he said. "And then, as if by magic, a script appeared on the horizon, which was awesome. Because having had done Dark Knight [Rises] with Chris[topher Nolan], I'd kind of done my superhero bit in some aspects. But when I was presented with the opportunity to play Venom, and that correlated with my son's love for Venom and how cool he was, I got really really excited and decided I really wanted to do it."
Venom is first of several movies based on characters from Marvel's Spider-Man comics that Sony has in in development. Others include movies based on Morbius the Living Vampire, Silver Sable and Black Cat, and Silk. In June it was reported that Jared Leto has signed on to play Morbius. The Silver Sable/Black Cat movie--currently titled Silver and Black--was originally scheduled for release in February 2019, but was removed from schedules earlier this year to allow more time to work on the script. Silk is a Korean-American superhero, and that movie is in "early development."
Developer Bungie has finally revealed Destiny 2's big year-two expansion. It's called Forsaken, and it launches on September 4. Just like The Taken King for the original Destiny, Forsaken is a standalone expansion you'll have to buy separately even if you purchased Destiny 2's expansion pass. In fact, you can even buy a new "annual pass" to pre-order three additional content releases that will come out after Destiny 2: Forsaken.
Forsaken's story will bring players back to the Reef to fight off a group of powerful enemies who broke out of prison. The expansion also introduces a number of changes to Destiny 2, including a new mode called Gambit, as well as major changes to weapons, mods, and Masterworks. The idea is to keep players coming back once they've reached the endgame.

Before continuing, you should know that in order to play any of the versions of Destiny 2: Forsaken below, you'll already need to own Destiny 2 and Expansions I and II. The core game and expansions are not included in any of the packages below.
Destiny 2: Forsaken Standard Edition
The standard edition comes with the Forsaken expansion and nothing else. Here's where you can pre-order the standard edition right now.
This purchase does not include the Forsaken expansion. Instead, it offers standalone access to everything included in the annual pass. That means you get bonus rewards, as well as three "premium content releases" expected to arrive in winter 2018, spring 2019, and summer 2019.
The digital deluxe edition comes with the game, the annual pass, and the Awoken Legend Set, which includes Wrath Majestic Legendary Bow Ornament, Dirge Paladin Emblem, and Vestian Ghost Shell.
With Sony releasing the new Venom trailer, we got to see that this upcoming movie contains a lot more symbiotes than we originally expected. Venom aside, Scream, Riot, and possibly Phage appear in the trailer. However, it was mentioned at Comic-Con that Riot will be a bigger part of this movie. Who is this character, and where does he come from?
The symbiote that would eventually be known as Riot made his first appearance in Venom: Lethal Protector #4 back in 1993. Using Venom, Dr. Carlton Drake created five symbiotes, one of which was Riot. He looked like a slightly larger version of Venom but colored grey. Strangely enough, Riot only appears in eight total panels in the entirety of the Lethal Protector miniseries, and readers knew nothing about the character or his backstory.
The following year, the five symbiotes were back in the four-issue miniseries Venom: Separation Anxiety. We learn the person inside the Riot symbiote is named Trevor, and that he was a volunteer at the Life Foundation. Drake made Trevor and the other symbiote volunteers believe Venom was a villain who needed to be stopped. However, at the tail end of Separation Anxiety, Riot and Trevor are killed by Donna (Scream) as she believes the symbiotes all need to die. This would be the last time we ever see Trevor. Goodbye, we hardly knew thee.
In Venom: Along Came A Spider #1, the Riot symbiote popped back up, along with the four other symbiotes from the previous miniseries. A testing facility merges all the symbiotes into one called Hybrid. After a few years, the Hybrid was split back into its five separate symbiotes.
While we all call the symbiote Riot, it wasn't until 2012's Carnage, USA #2 when Trevor's symbiote was officially named Riot. The name originally comes from the 1996 Toy Biz line "Venom: Planet of the Symbiotes." The figure didn't look much like the character though. In Carnage, USA, the Riot symbiote is given to Howard Ogden, with the hopes of taking down Carnage, who made his symbiote possess the Avengers.
Riot popped up one more time in 2014's Deadpool vs. Carnage miniseries. All five of the Lethal Protector symbiotes bonded with Deadpool, so he could take down Carnage. That's the last we've seen of the Riot symbiote.
Because Riot is the "child" of Venom, he has pretty much the same powers. In Deadpool vs. Carnage, Wade Wilson mentioned that the Riot symbiote gave him increased speeds. However, that's all we really know about the character. While Riot has existed for 25 years, he is not a well-defined character by any means.
While the trailers don't give too much away about the character, we do know that Dr. Carlton Drake is the person inside the Riot symbiote. That's a bit of a departure from the source material, but it makes sense for the story. We can assume Drake is of the mindset of "if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself."

EA DICE continues to support 2016's Battlefield 1. A summer update makes several patches to the first-person shooter that fans have been asking for, as well as gameplay changes to improve the overall experience.
The load time when going into the soldier customization screen has been reduced, as have the number of disconnects when trying to join a server. The update also fixes the issues that caused map vote results to not be respected, squad boosts to occasionally start counting down during the pre-round phase, and players already in a queue being blocked from joining a match. Battlefield 1 also now reinforces the result of the map vote even after the game server migrates to a different host.
Battlefield 1's new update also rebalances the Shock Operations for Lupkow Pass, Zeebrugge, and Prise de Tahure. For Lupkow Pass, the changes make the first sector easier on everyone and reduce the impact of the Behemoth. On Zeebrugge, the changes improve the experience for Attackers on the first sector. For Prise de Tahure, the changes address Attackers stealing Defender kits and Defenders stealing Attacker "comeback" kits.
Battlefield 1 also now supports 4K resolution rendering on Xbox One X.
The remaining changes address weapons, gadgets, vehicles, and the user interface/user experience. We've outlined the highlights below, and the full patch notes can be found on Battlefield's blog.

Weapons, Gadgets, and Vehicles
M1903 Experimental now has an alternative fire mode.
Fixed an issue where vehicle laid Anti-Tank Mines would have difficulty detecting vehicles.
Adjusted the reload time of the C96 pistol when loading single bullets to better match its animation.
Gameplay
Fixed instances where players could grief teammates using shell type weaponry such as mortars and AA guns.
Friendly flares will now display their spotting radius to teammates, allowing for better coordination between recon players.
Fixed issue where damage that resulted in score < 0.5 wasn't messaged to players. Score < 0.5 from damage is now rounded up, granting at least 1 point of score.
User Interface/User Experience
Added gameplay options for adjusting color and visibility of the lens sight reticle.
Added gameplay options to show compass bearing numbers on the mini-map and the big map.
Added video options for adjusting the screen safe are width and height on PC (Xbox One and PlayStation 4 already have those).
Moved the objective world icon names from below the world icons to above those to reduce UI clutter and obstruction of the player view over soldiers near the objectives.
Added gameplay options for adjusting the visibility of the 3D objective and soldier names separate from the icons.
The world icon customization gameplay options now work in spectator mode too.
Added gameplay options for adjusting the crosshair size and the hit indicator size.
Added gameplay options for adjusting the visibility of the receiving damage HUD panel. Added gameplay options for adjusting the size and visibility of HUD elements.
Fixed an issue with dog tags sometimes showing up blank in kill cards or when completing a melee kill.
A new in-game event has gone live in Destiny 2, giving you a chance at some new gear and challenges through August 28. Best of all this is considered a holiday event, which means it's free for all players regardless of whether you've purchased either of the expansions or the season pass.
In Solstice of Heroes, you can talk to Ikora to play through reimagined story sequences, along with reworked Strikes and PvP matches. You can upgrade a new armor set to level 400 as well, which will make for a nice powered-up set in preparation for Forsaken in September. This is the only way to achieve a level 400 armor before then.
You can also snag some neat cosmetics from the Eververse, either by completing in-game challenges or purchasing loot boxes. All of this comes alongside the 1.2.3.1 patch, which squashes a few bugs to the Fabled Guardian Triumph and storing items in your Vault.
This lays the groundwork for the Forsaken expansion, which will release on September 4, just a week after Solstice ends. That expansion will introduce a ton of new weapons and gadgets, a new story that appears to signal the probable death of Cayde-6, a new faction, new Supers, and a new Raid. It will cost $40 by itself, or you can pay $70 for the Annual Pass. For more details, check out our pre-order guide.
Two sales are going on at the PlayStation Store this week instead of one. The bigger of the two is the Double Discounts sale, in which PlayStation Plus members get double the amount off that non-members get. Then there's the Totally Digital sale that focuses on digital-only games. PS Plus members also get an additional savings in this one, making it a great time to join if you haven't already. Let's take a look at some of the highlights of this week's discounts.
Quite a few big games are on sale, with prices dropping to particularly appealing lows for PS Plus members. One of the newest big games to get a discount is the cinematic sci-fi-themed Detroit: Become Human, which is about androids who begin acting as if they're alive. It's on sale for $50 ($40 for PS Plus members). Another recent one is Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, on sale for $51 ($42).
Far Cry Primal (AKA "the one without guns") is down to $32.50 ($15). While this Stone Age-set title doesn't have modern weapons, it does have prehistoric pets like sabertooth tigers to help you rip through enemies. Another game that's set a long time ago (but in a galaxy far, far away) is Star Wars Battlefront II, on sale for $39 ($18).
Racing enthusiasts can pick up Burnout Paradise Remasteredfor $30 ($20). It goes on sale often, but it usually doesn't drop as low as that PS Plus price. Survival game fans can download Conan Exiles for $40 ($30). And if you want to use hacker technology to take down the bad guys in San Francisco, you can grab Watch Dogs 2 for $40 ($20).
If you're looking for something a little different, you can grab the relaxing Walden, a Game for $14 ($9.50). It has you hang out at a serene cottage by a lake while reading sections of the titular classic of American literature. Also unique but with a little more action is What Remains of Edith Finch, on sale for $15 ($10). In this creative title, you play through the final moments of a number of characters' lives. Spoilers: everyone dies.

Microsoft has rolled out another pair of backwards compatible games for Xbox One. This week, two Xbox 360 installments in Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series have been added to the growing backwards compatibility library--Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Splinter Cell: Double Agent.
Blacklist is the most recent installment in the Splinter Cell series, originally launching in 2013. It takes place after the events of Splinter Cell: Conviction and introduces a number of new skills and tools to Sam Fisher's arsenal, like the Tri-Rotor drone. GameSpot awarded the title an 8/10 in our original Splinter Cell: Blacklist review and said it has "too many sweet adventures in store for you to miss them."
Double Agent, on the other hand, was originally released in 2006. This installment marked the series' Xbox 360 debut and sees protagonist Sam Fisher infiltrate a terrorist group. It earned an 8.5/10 in GameSpot's original Splinter Cell: Double Agent review, in which we said, "Double Agent's few keen twists on Splinter Cell's single-player gameplay don't result in a remarkably different experience from the previous games, though that doesn't mean it still isn't some of the best stealth action out there."
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
If you still have a copy of either title laying around, you can simply pop the disc into your Xbox One to begin playing. Meanwhile, those who've previously purchased either game digitally will find them automatically waiting in the Ready to Download area of Xbox One's My Games and Apps menu. If you don't already own the titles but are interested in checking them out, they are also available to download from the Microsoft Store.
There are now more than 400 Xbox 360 games--as well as more than 30 original Xbox titles--in Xbox One's backwards compatible library. MoviePass is making plans to raise prices and continue limiting access to the biggest new releases, as the company continues its attempt to stop its heavy losses. This comes alongside a volatile day on the stock market for its parent company.
The company confirmed in a statement that that the subscription price will raise from $10 to $15 sometime in the next 30 days. It will also be continuing to limit availability for select films. Movies opening on more than 1,000 screens will have limited MoviePass availability for the first two weeks, unless a studio partners with MoviePass for a special promotion. The company was open about the problems that led it to this point, citing it as a strategic move to limit cash burn.
"These changes are meant to protect the longevity of our company and prevent abuse of the service. While no one likes change, these are essential steps to continue providing the most attractive subscription service in the industry," said CEO Mitch Lowe. "Our community has shown an immense amount of enthusiasm over the past year, and we trust that they will continue to share our vision to reinvigorate the movie industry."
This follows a tumultuous weekend in which the service went down again, preventing users from purchasing tickets to Mission Impossible: Fallout. Market Watch recently reported that the company's average cash deficit was $21.7 million from September 2017 to April 2018. An auditor reportedly had "substantial doubt" about the company's ongoing viability. Today the stock price briefly spiked to $1.80 per share, only to tumble back down to roughly 0.50 cents as of the time of writing.
Right now Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners can grab a great deal on an Xbox Live Gold membership. Instead of the usual annual price of $60, you can get a 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscription for $40 from the Microsoft Store. That's a 33% savings on what's already a pretty great deal for Xbox owners. The offer ends August 1, which is coming up fast.
The deal is good for new members and current members alike. If you're already in the middle of an Xbox Live Gold subscription, buying this will add 12 months to it.
Xbox Live Gold is Microsoft's paid online service for Xbox One and Xbox 360. In addition to letting you play your games online, it also gets you free games each month through the Games With Gold program. These include two Xbox One and two Xbox 360 games each month, and the 360 games are always backward compatible and playable on Xbox One.
Additionally, Gold members get exclusive discounts on the Microsoft Store each week, often on popular games. As a matter of fact, Microsoft's annual Ultimate Game Sale is running July 19-30. All told, Xbox Live Gold tends to be a very good deal, even if you only play a fraction of the free games in a given year.
You're not likely to find a better deal than this anytime soon; $40 is about as low as this annual subscription ever goes. So if you're planning to start (or keep) an Xbox Live Gold membership, take advantage of the offer here before August 1.
If you feel like you've already watched everything you want to watch on Amazon Prime, despair no more; Amazon is coming out with a whole host of new titles in August. Here's what on tap for next month in terms of movies, TV shows, and Prime Originals.
Several original series are debuting, including All or Nothing: Manchester City which follows the legendary coach of the titular soccer team. A limited series called Agatha Christie will be released, as well as Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan with John Krasinski, which debuts on August 31.
Amazon Prime will also be adding some oldies to the streaming service, including dramas like The Blair Witch Project and Watchmen, and some kids movies like A Cinderella Story and Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams. The bulk of the additions come on August 1, but there's an assortment of other things coming throughout the month, too.

Nintendo has shared its financial earnings for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, and the Nintendo Switch continues to perform well. The company reports it has sold another 1.88 million Switch consoles worldwide during the period from April through June, bringing the system's total sales up to 19.6 million.
While that represents a slight decrease in Switch hardware sales from the same period last year (down 4.4% year-on-year), software sales grew by more than 120% year-on-year, with 17.96 million units sold during the quarter. Digital sales of packaged Switch games and DLC also grew by 68% from the same period last year.
As for specific first-party game sales, Nintendo Labo sold a combined 1.39 million units worldwide between the Robot and Variety Kits. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, which originally released for Wii U back in 2014, moved 1.40 million units on Switch, while Mario Tennis Aces sold 1.38 million copies worldwide, despite launching toward the end of the fiscal quarter.
The Nintendo 3DS continued chugging along, selling another 360,000 units (down approximately 62% year-on-year). The handheld's lifetime sales now stand at 72.89 million units. Meanwhile, Nintendo's smartphone business saw a very modest increase of 0.4% year-on-year. The NES Classic Edition also returned to stores toward the end of the quarter and has already proven to be a success, selling 1.26 million units.
Despite the first half of this fiscal year being somewhat slower for Switch sales, Nintendo still expects to sell 20 million more units by the end of the fiscal year, which runs through March 2019. That may still be feasible given how much business it traditionally does during the holiday season. The company says Switch sales in every region have been "trending upward" since E3 2018, and it still has a number of big games lined up for the system through the end of the year.
Whether you prefer your movies on 4K Blu-ray, DVD, or digital, you'll be able to watch the blockbuster Marvel movie Avengers: Infinity War from the comfort of your own home soon. The digital edition is out now, while the physical versions release two weeks later, on August 14.

Avengers: Infinity War Digital Edition
If you want to own it as early as possible, here's where you can pre-order the digital version of the Avengers: Infinity War.
You might have to wait two extra weeks, but if you like your movies in physical form, it's worth it. This version comes with a Blu-ray disc, plus a digital copy of the movie.
Avengers: Infinity War 4K Cinematic Universe Edition
This version of the movie also comes with a standard Blu-ray version, as well as a digital copy. In addition to the ones linked below, Best Buy has an exclusive steelbook edition of this version for $35. Target has an exclusive version that comes with a 40-page gallery book for $40, or one that comes with a red Iron Man Funko Pop for $42.
Don't have a Blu-ray player? No problem, get yourself a copy of the movie on DVD. Just note that, unlike the other physical versions, it doesn't come with a digital copy.
We've reached the end of July 2018, but the latest batch of free titles for PlayStation Plus subscribers remains available. As per usual, July's PS Plus lineup consists of six games divided up across PS4, PS3, and Vita, all of which are available to download at no charge until August's games arrive on August 7.
Headlining PS4's selection of freebies is Heavy Rain, the narrative-driven game from Detroit: Become Human developer Quantic Dream. Heavy Rain originally launched for PS3 back in 2010 and was re-released on Sony's current-gen console in 2016. Joining it is Absolver, a unique and flexible third-person adventure/fighting game in which players can fully customize their fighting style.
On the PS3 side, Plus subscribers can now download the classic 3D platformer Rayman 3 HD, as well as Extreme Exorcism, a retro-style platformer in which players hunt their own ghosts. Extreme Exorcism is available in place of Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess, which was initially announced to be one of this month's free PS Plus titles. The game is also playable on PS4 via Cross-Buy.
Finally, Vita owners can download the acclaimed adventure game Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma and the action game Space Overlords for free this month. Like Extreme Exorcism, the latter also supports Cross-Buy with PS4, getting you four possible freebies on that platform in July.

Season 5 of Fortnite is here, and there are already an assortment of challenges for players to complete. Just like last season, finishing all of a given week's tasks will complete a corresponding Road Trip challenge--Season 5's equivalent of Blockbuster challenges. These, in turn, will reward you with a special loading screen, each of which contains a subtle hint leading you to a free Battle Pass tier somewhere around the island.
Clearing one week's set of challenges will unlock the first special loading screen, which features a group of characters atop a grassy hill near the giant Durr Burger. Two appear to be posing for a photo while another looks at a map of Lazy Links, the new golf course area introduced in Season 5. You can see the loading screen for yourself below.
The clue on this screen can be found near the center of the golf course map, which features a large, umbrella-shaped mine housing a Battle Star icon. The mine can be found toward the western edge of Lazy Links, which itself is located in the northern portion of the island. Simply head to that area and you'll find the Battle Star waiting to be picked up.
Collecting the Battle Star will rank your Battle Pass up by one tier, making it an easy way to unlock additional rewards if you complete enough challenges. You can see a more detailed guide on where to find the Battle Star in the video above. However, be aware that you can only find the Battle Star if you complete the corresponding Road Trip challenge and unlock the loading screen; you can't simply go to the designated location and collect it if you haven't done the preceding steps.
Unlike previous seasons, Season 5 challenges are divided up into two categories. Free challenges are available to all Fortnite: Battle Royale players, while Battle Pass challenges can only be tackled by those who've purchased the Battle Pass. It's sometimes hard to keep track of all the Stephen King movie and TV adaptations that have been released recently, and there's plenty more to come. But there was one movie last year that exceeded the rest in terms of audience numbers, and that was the hugely successful It. The film grossed more than $700 million worldwide, making it one of the most successful horror movies of all time, and the sequel is set for release next year.
It: Chapter 2 is currently in production, and a new image from the set has been released. The movie is set 30 years after the first film, and it follows the adult versions of the kids in the original. While we've already seen a picture of the adult cast at a pre-production script reading, this is the first shot of them all in character. Check it out below, via Slashfilm's Chris Evangelista:

It: Chapter 2 stars Jessica Chastain as Beverly, James McAvoy as Bill, Bill Hader as Richie, James Ransone as Eddie, Andy Bean as Stan, and Isaiah Mustafa as Mike, plus Bill Skarsgård as the terrifying clown Pennywise. It's directed by Andy Muschietti, who helmed the first movie, and hits theaters on September 6, 2019.
In an interview last year, Muschietti explained that while the movie would focus on the adult characters, the young cast will still play a part. In King's novel, the two timelines are told side-by-side, elements of which will remain in the sequel.
"In my opinion, it can't only be about adults," he told The Independent. "Something that I love about the book is the dialogue between the two timelines because, ultimately, it's a story about childhood. It's a love letter to childhood, but it's also a story of the death of childhood. It's symbolic, of course, because when Pennywise describes himself as the eater of worlds, he's not talking about a monster that eats planets; he's talking about eating the world of imagination and magic."
Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee has made quite a second career for himself as an actor. After appearing as a hot dog vendor in 2000's X-Men film, he's become a regular fixture of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and X-Men franchise of movies. He never sticks around very long, but his cameo roles always get a big reaction from audiences.
His latest, though, might surprise you. Lee has switched sides, albeit temporarily. In Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, Stan Lee is a character. If you haven't seen Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, which screened at San Diego Comic-Con, the following could contain spoilers.
Lee pops up, letting everyone know he's there to make his standard superhero movie cameo. And while, at first glance, you may be wondering which voice actor is approximating the iconic figure, that's the Spider-Man co-creator himself poking fun at his constant appearances in a variety of comic book films.
While this is only the second time he's made a cameo in an animated film--shout out to Big Hero 6--it's his first time appearing in a DC Comics property. If ever there was a film to do it in, though, this is the one. Teen Titans Go! To the Movies is loaded with meta jokes about a variety of other superhero films, poking fun at the MCU, the X-Men and Deadpool, and it takes a lot of shots at DC Entertainment's own big screen properties.
This is a movie that dreams up a trailer for Batman's utility belt getting its own standalone film. If ever Lee were going to poke fun at his own penchant for appearing in so many movies, this is where it was meant to happen. That is managed to be in a DC Entertainment film is just one more meta layer on top of the movie.
After all, by this point, Stan Lee is bigger than one cinematic universe. He's not associated with any one hero or company. Stan Lee is comic books, and it's exciting to see both Marvel and DC embrace that.
Each Tuesday Microsoft resets its weekly sale on digital Xbox One and Xbox 360 games, offering deals on a new selection of games. This week's sale is now live, with savings on a lot of pretty fantastic games. Let's take a look at some of the highlights of this week's Microsoft Store sale.
Lots of games are on sale this week, but the publisher with the biggest presence by far is Bethesda. Tons of Bethesda games are on sale, including Skyrim Special Edition for $20 / £15 and The Elder Scrolls Online for $10 / £7.50. If you're feeling apocalyptic, you can download Fallout 4 for $15 / £10, or go all-in and get the Game of the Year Edition, which includes the game and all of the DLC, for $30 / £25.
Bethesda shares the spotlight this week with a good deal of indie games that are also on sale. The hectic multiplayer game Overcooked is down to just $6 / £4 this week, which ought to whet your appetite for the upcoming sequel. The Banjo-Kazooey-like platformer Yooka-Laylee is on sale for $13 / £12 for anyone feeling nostalgic for the Nintendo 64 days. And the recently released Yoku's Island Express, a clever mash-up between Metroidvania and pinball, is on sale for $16 / £13.

The indie physics puzzle game Donut County is coming on August 28, across PC, PS4, and iOS. It will cost $13 on each, except for iOS, where it'll be $5. Alternatively, you can save a few bucks on PS4 where a pre-order will be available for $10.49. That will net you a free PS4 dynamic theme as well.
The wacky concept was brainstormed by Ben Esposito of The Unfinished Swan and What Remains of Edith Finch. The tone of it is very different than those serene indie puzzlers, and the idea originates from a game jam parodying game designer Peter Molyneux. The game works like Katamari Damacy in reverse, as a hole grows upon swallowing up items around the world.
Donut County has already won accolades: the 2015 Independent Games Festival finalist in the Excellence in Visual Art category and an honorable mention for the Seumas McNally prize. GameSpot also named it a hidden gem and a game to watch from PAX East 2018.

One of the best things to come to the Star Wars expanded universe in recent years isn't the spin-off movies, nor is it the novels or the plethora of Marvel comics series. It's the animated television shows. Both Clone Wars and Rebels are triumphs at playing with Star Wars lore and building on what fans know and love. And now, you can relive Season 4 of Rebels--including its tear-jerking finale--over and over again on Blu-ray and DVD.
Hitting stores today, July 31, the final season of Star Wars: Rebels marks the end of an era as there won't be new adventures of Hera, Chopper, Sabine, and the rest of the Ghost crew as they spark the Rebellion that would eventually take down the Galactic Empire. The two-disc Blu-ray (three-discs for DVD) contains all 16 episodes from Season 4 as well as a few extras. However, while these features are enjoyable, it's not really a huge incentive to pick this up. Fans of the series will buy it because the show is phenomenal, not because they're getting some cool extra videos.
On both DVD and Blu-ray, there are eight episodes of Rebels Recon, a YouTube video series that recaps every episode of the series. The Rebels Recon gives a ton of insight into specific episodes and characters from the fourth season. However, this is all content available for free online, so it's more of a way to redirect the viewer from YouTube more than anything else. That's pretty much the only disappointing aspect of the physical release, unless you own the DVD version of the season, in which Rebels Recon is the only special feature. Rebels Recon, in itself, is an entertaining video series and a great way to get some insight into specific episodes, especially moments where the cast talks about working with Warwick Davis when he played Rukh.
For those who own the Blu-ray, there are a lot more special features, each of them diving into specific parts of the series and Star Wars lore. Ghosts of Legend is a multi-part special feature talking to the cast and production team about who these characters came to life and how they work together. Make sure you watch all of Season 4 before diving into this because it gets heavy into the finale spoilers.
Additionally, there is the Force of Rebellion video series with executive producer Dave Filoni, who discusses the Force and its importance. If you're a fan of Clone Wars and Rebels, you will without a doubt want to watch this as Filoni's insight into the Force and how it affects different characters is without a doubt the best special feature on the Blu-ray. I could watch Filoni talk about Star Wars and give his opinions about it all day.
Finally, six episodes have audio commentary tracks--again, featuring Filoni--and there's one last special feature called Kevin Kiner: The Rebel Symphony. Kiner discusses putting the music together for the series and his inspirations for a select few pieces. Considering the soundtrack to Star Wars is iconic, it's pretty interesting to see how a composer puts his or her own take on some legendary pieces, all while adding their own flavor to the mix.
This will be the last Filoni-related Star Wars project we get until Season 7 of Clone Wars releases on Disney's upcoming streaming service, which we know nothing about. So Season 4 of Rebels is going to be a must-buy for fans of the animated series. While the special features are a nice addition to the Blu-ray, they're not really a huge selling point. If you are picking this up, it's because you love the series and you have good taste in television shows. Season 4 of Rebels is on sale now at local retailers, and if for some reason you haven't watched Rebels, all four seasons are available for sale at local retailers or digitally.
The Pokemon series returned to theaters last year with a limited theatrical run of Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You, a retelling of Ash's first encounter with Pikachu and their journey to find the Legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh. The latest Pokemon film, known in Japan as Pokemon the Movie: Everyone's Story, will follow suit and receive a limited theatrical release as well.
Following its premiere in Japan, The Pokemon Company has announced it is again partnering with Fathom Events to distribute the 21st film in the series, now known as Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us, in international markets this fall. The movie will air in select theaters around the world on November 24, 26, and 28, with one final showing following on December 1.
The Power of Us is set in a town that lives in harmony with the wind. Each year, the townspeople hold a festival to celebrate the Legendary Pokemon Lugia, which saved the town from destruction some years ago. The film also marks the debut of Zeraora, a brand-new Mythical Pokemon revealed earlier this year for the series' most recent 3DS games, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

"Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us tells the story of Ash and Pikachu as they journey to a small seaside town filled with a diverse set of characters, including a young athlete, a compulsive liar, a shy researcher, a bitter old woman, and a little girl with a big secret.
"Every year, the townspeople gather to celebrate the Legendary Pokemon Lugia, who brings the wind that saved the town from destruction many years ago. The festival is a time for celebration, with a Pokemon Catching Race and a ceremonial flame burning brightly to summon Lugia. But when a series of incidents threatens not just the festival, but all the people and Pokemon who call the town home, it's going to take more than just Ash and Pikachu to save the day. Will these people be able to put aside their differences and work together to rescue their town? Or will it all end in destruction?"
Additional details on showtimes and participating details will be announced at a later date. Tickets for The Power of Us will go on sale on the Fathom Events website beginning September 27.
A new month is just around the corner, which means a new batch of Field Research quests will soon be available in Pokemon Go. Developer Niantic has shared the first details about the upcoming set of challenges on Twitter, including which Pokemon awaits those who manage to complete enough of them.
According to Niantic, August's batch of Field Research tasks will revolve primarily around Electric-type Pokemon. As usual, the first task you complete each day will reward you with a stamp; if you collect seven of them, you'll achieve a Research Breakthrough and unlock additional rewards, including an encounter with a rare Pokemon.
The reward for achieving a Research Breakthrough this time will be another encounter with Raikou, one of the three Legendary dogs originally from Pokemon Gold and Silver. Raikou was previously available in Pokemon Go last fall as a Raid Battle, but this gives players another opportunity to capture one without having to team up with other Trainers and travel to a Gym.
Field Research tasks are distributed at PokeStops. They're one of two types of quests introduced to the game earlier this year, along with Special Research. The latter are more story-driven challenges assigned by Professor Willow, with the reward being an encounter with a Mythical Pokemon. The first set of Special Research led to Mew, while an upcoming questline will give players the chance to find Celebi.
In addition to Raikou, Pokemon Go players can encounter another Legendary in the game right now. The powerful Steel-type Registeel is appearing in Raid Battles from now until August 21, when it will be replaced by Regirock. Before then, Niantic will host the next Pokemon Go Community Day on August 11 and 12, with Eevee starring as the next featured Pokemon.
In term of US box office, Wonder Woman is the most successful movie in the DC universe to date--and certainly the best reviewed--so a sequel was inevitable. Wonder Woman 1984 is currently in production ahead of its November 2019 release, and a new image has been released.
The latest picture gives us our first look at Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal, and it was tweeted by director Patty Jenkins. Pascal's role is yet to be revealed but Jenkins is obviously impressed, tweeting that she "Can't…Stop… Watching" the actor. Pascal himself posted the same image on Instagram with the caption "Power suit. Power hair." Check it out below:
The movie stars Gal Gadot in the lead role, with Chris Pine returning as Captain Steve Trevor and Kristin Wiig playing the villainous Cheetah. It hits theaters on November 1, 2019.
Wonder Woman 1984featured at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, where fans were shown some action-packed early footage. During the panel Q&A, Jenkins was asked how Steve Trevor could be in the movie, given he died at the end of the first film (which was also set 40 years earlier). "What is he back here for?" Jenkins said. "Well, it's something I'm super excited for everybody to see--the movie--to find out. It's a very important part of our movie."
Wonder Woman 2 is one of three new DC movies due over the next 18 months. Aquaman arrives in December this year, while Shazam follows in April 2019. Both movies had their first trailers revealed at SDCC--check out the Shazam trailer here and the Aquaman trailer here.
While it was first reported that Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln is leaving AMC's long-running zombie show back in May, his departure was only officially confirmed during last week's San Diego Comic-Con. Lincoln has now spoken further about his decision and revealed the reason why he is leaving the role of Rick Grimes after eight years.
In an interview for Entertainment Weekly Radio, Lincoln again confirmed he was leaving, although he was careful to specifically state it was from the main show, not necessarily the entire franchise, which also includes the video game and spin-off show Fear the Walking Dead. He then explained that his departure was simply down to the fact that his home is in the UK and he wants to spend more time with his family.
"I have two young children, and I live in a different country, and they become less portable as they get older," he said. "It was that simple. It was time for me to come home."
Lincoln went on to talk about what it was like to film his final episodes in the upcoming Season 9. "Completing the show was like releasing air finally," he said. "And it was very satisfying the last two episodes in particular. But doing a [Comic-Con] panel and having to talk to [thousands of] people in Hall H and then have all my friends hug me at the end? The s*** got real, is the truth of the matter."
During the Walking Dead SDCC panel, Lincoln expressed his love for the show. "I love this show, it means everything to me," he said. "I love the people who make this show--I promise not to cry, I've done enough crying on screen--I am also deeply fond of the people who watch this show, you people. This has been the most extraordinary, amazing, and beautiful experience of my career made largely because of you guys."
The Walking Dead Season 9 premieres on October 31. Lincoln is only expected to star in a handful of episodes, as is co-star Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie. In March, it was reported that Cohan was holding out on signing the contract for Season 9 in order to improve her deal. Although she did ultimately sign on for the next season, Cohan will only appear in six episodes, as she is also filming the ABC drama Whiskey Cavalier.
Six movie and 22 years in, the Mission Impossible series keeps getting bigger. Mission Impossible: Fallout opened this weekend to huge box office success, giving it the highest opening weekend of the franchise so far, as well as the second-biggest opening of Tom Cruise's career.
Fallout made an estimated $61.6 million in its first three days in the US, to take the No.1 slot on the box office chart. This beats Mission Impossible 2's $57.8 million opening in 2000, and is second only to War of the Worlds' 2005 take of $64.8 million in terms of Cruise's weekend debuts. The last Mission Impossible movie, 2015's Rogue Nation, took $55.5 million in its first three days.
Fallout's success had an inevitable impact on last week's No.1, the Denzel Washington-starring The Equalizer 2, which is also an action sequel with a popular veteran actor in the lead role. That movie made an estimated $14 million and slipped to third place, while the musical comedy Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again held on at No.2 with an estimated $15 million weekend take.
The week's only other new release was the animated Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, which debuted at No.5. Box Office Mojo notes that although its $10.5 million take was below expectations, the movie only had a production budget of $10 million.
Elsewhere, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation dropped one place to No.4 and Marvel's Ant-man and the Wasp fell to No.6. Two of the year's biggest movies--Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom andIncredibles 2--continue to do solid business in their sixth and seventh weeks on the chart, while the disappointing Dwayne Johnson vehicle Skyscraper fell to No.9 in only its third week on release.

While the first season of Netflix's Marvel show Iron Fist wasn't exactly warmly received by fans or critics, Season 2 is on its way later this year. At San Diego Comic-Con last week, Marvel confirmed the show's second season will hit Netflix in September, and a new teaser trailer has now been released.
The teaser shows superpowered Danny Rand (Finn Jones) walking down a New York street with Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick). Everything he sees reminds him of his brutal former life in K'un Lun, where he was trained as Iron Fist. Check it out above.
Iron Fist Season 2 also stars Simone Missick, reprising her Luke Cage role as Misty Knight, and Alice Eve (Star Trek: Into Darkness) as the villainous Typhoid Mary. The whole season will be released on Netflix on September 7.
During the SDCC panel, Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb recognized that the second season of Iron Fist needed improvement. He stated that the makers would "up the game" in terms of the show's fight choreography, with Creed and Black Panther choreographer Clayton Barber on board for this season. In addition, the series has a new showrunner, with former Sleepy Hollow executive producer Raven Metzner taking over from Scott Buck.
In related news, some information about the upcoming third season of Daredevil has emerged. While the show doesn't yet have a release date, Netflix VP of Original Content Cindy Holland told Deadline that Daredevil Season 3 would be a "return to form," without the logistical difficulties of Season 2. "The biggest issue was the timing of production and launching of The Defenders," she said. "We had to shut down all of the shows, so all the actors be available for The Defenders. There is no problem with this season, I think it's fantastic, it's a real return to form in my view."
Epic Games has released a new update for Fortnite on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and iOS. Update 5.10 marks the start of a new limited time mode called Fly Explosives, which involves using jetpacks to cause mayhem. The update also pulls the Guided Missile weapon out of the vault and puts it into play.
"The Guided Missile is back from the Vault and dropping into Battle Royale this update," the patch notes read. "In its time away, the Guided Missile has been tweaked and tuned down as it was too strong upon its initial release." For those playing Save the World mode, there's a new Spyglass Sniper Rifle, which will be available in the store on August 1 at 8 PM ET. Take a look below for the full Fortnite patch 5.10 notes.

McFarlane Toys has announced a partnership with Epic Games to create collectible Fortnite figures, accessories, and resin statues. The collection is scheduled to be available for purchase from mass retail stores in Fall 2018.
McFarlane Toys is one of America's top action figure manufacturers. The company was created by Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn and director behind the upcoming Spawn film. "The Fortnite brand has taken on global status and continues to grow each day," said McFarlane. "The game, with its sense of skill and irreverent fun, now has hundreds of character options to choose from, which is a tremendous blueprint for making any successful toy and action figure line."
"We've been fans of Todd and McFarlane Toys for years and years, and it's been a dream come true to have an opportunity to collaborate with them," said Donald Mustard, worldwide creative director of Epic Games. "I've seen some of the prototypes and they're so sweet...I think players are just going to be blown away."
The collection incorporates "both current and 'classic' looks from the Fortnite franchise" and the figures will be seven-inches tall--which puts them in the 1/8 to 1/6 scale range of statue collectibles.
Fortnite contains two modes. The first, Save the World, is a cooperative survival shooter where up to four players build massive structures to fight off against hordes of zombie-like creatures. The more popular Battle Royale is a free-to-play game mode where up to 100 players fight in a shrinking arena until only one person is left standing. Fortnite is available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Switch.

The next massive total-conversion mod for Fallout 4 is taking players to Miami. A new trailer for Fallout: Miami reveals the Florida city remade in the war-torn, radiation-filled landscape of the Fallout universe. The primary modder behind Fallout: Miami is Milan "Mika999" Brajkovic, most well-known for being the creator behind the well-received Shard of Oblivion mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
The new mod takes reimagined content from Fallout 4 and its Far Harbor and Nuka-World DLC expansions. Fallout: Miami's website claims the mod's map will be slightly larger than Far Harbor's, roughly covering South Pointe Pier to Fontainebleau Hotel. The mod doesn't have an official release date as of yet, and the creators behind it are seeking volunteers who are familiar with the Fallout Creation Kit to help finish the project. The trailer seems to promise a similar experience to Fallout: New Vegas.
Fallout 4 is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. However, like most mods, Fallout: Miami is only scheduled for PC.
Another mod for PC, titled Fallout: New California is launching October 23. According to Polygon, New California is a mod of Fallout: New Vegas, and its story acts as an unofficial prequel to Bethesda's 2010 RPG.
Fallout 76, the next official release in the Fallout franchise, is heading to West Virginia. The game takes place in the earliest point on the Fallout timeline, approximately 60 years before the original 1997 game's story. Bethesda is taking a different approach with Fallout 76, opting for a massive-multiplayer online experience as opposed to a single-player RPG. Fallout 76 launches for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on November 14. A beta is scheduled for October.
The long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed Metroidvania Guacamelee is coming this year. A new trailer for Guacamelee 2 revealed the action-platformer is launching for PS4 and PC on August 21.
Guacamelee 2 continues where the first game left off, with luchador Juan Aguacate retired from supernatural adventuring, platforming, and brawling. That all changes when a new threat emerges, and Juan once again dons the luchador mask that gives him his vast array of powerful attacks.
Like its predecessor, Guacamelee 2 features four-player local co-op, and a vast array of colorful abilities that offer new strategies for movement and combat. The same style of electro-Mexican soundtrack is making its return too, as well as the vibrant color palette used for the graphics. The game promises the return of familiar faces from the original, both friendly and villainous.
However, there are a few changes this time around. Guacamelee 2 has twice as many different enemy types for Juan to smash, plus many more bosses. Juan will also unlock new abilities he can only use after he transforms into a chicken, instead of only finding new skills for his human form. He'll learn these new chicken abilities from some sort of Chicken Illuminati, seen dancing at the end of the trailer.
Fans of the original Guacamelee were surprised to hear its sequel would not be making its way to the PlayStation Vita. Guacamelee released on the Vita, PS3, and PC in 2013, before getting ported to Xbox 360, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One the following year. Guacamelee 2 might copy its predecessor and eventually make its way to other platforms--like the Xbox One, Vita, or Nintendo Switch--at a later date.
