A new month is now upon us, and The Pokemon Company is continuing its Year of Legendary Pokemon campaign with another pair of free Legendaries for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. During September, players will be able to claim one of the two Eon Pokemon from Ruby and Sapphire, Latios and Latias, but as usual, the way to get your hands on them will vary by region.
Once again, those who live in the US will need to go to a participating retailer to pick up a free download code for the Legendaries. This time, the code will be distributed at Best Buy stores around the country from September 2-29. Players in Europe and Australia, meanwhile, will be able to download the Legendaries directly from the Nintendo Network between September 1-23.
As usual, the Pokemon you receive will depend on which version you're playing. You can claim the Legendaries in any seventh-generation Pokemon game, but there's an added incentive to redeem them in the Ultra titles; not only will the Legendaries come at higher levels and know different moves, they'll be equipped with a Gold Bottle Cap, a rare item that can be exchanged to Hyper Train a Pokemon. You can see their movesets and other details below.

To get the Legendary, select Mystery Gift from the main menu and choose the option to receive your gift with a code/password. Enter the download code you picked up and the Pokemon will be downloaded into your game. (Players in Europe and Australia, meanwhile, will simply need to select the option to receive their gift via the internet.) Once those steps have been completed, you'll be able to pick your Legendary up from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center around Alola.
You also still have time to redeem your download code for August's free Legendaries, Groudon and Kyogre. If you still haven't picked one up, however, you're out of luck, as codes for the Ruby and Sapphire cover monsters were only being given away from GameStop stores until August 26. You can see all of the other free Pokemon available for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon right now in our roundup.
The hugely popular romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians continued its reign at the top of the box office chart over the Labor Day weekend. The movie remained at No.1 in its third week since release and crossed the $100 million mark in the US to take an estimated total of $117 million to date. Worldwide the movie has made $139 million so far, from a production budget of just $30 million.
The big budget shark thriller The Megremained in second place, with an estimated $10.4 million weekend take. Mission Impossible: Falloutcontinues to do impressive business and actually rose back up the chart, moving up one place to No.4. With a total US gross of $206.3 million to date, Fallout is already the third biggest movie in the series, but with only $9 million between Fallout and Mission Impossible II's total gross, it might yet emerge as the most successful.
The highest new entry in the top 10 was the acclaimed thriller Searching, which expanded the number of theaters it is playing in and rose from No.22 to No.4. The week's biggest new release was the historical thriller Operation Finale, which features Star Wars' Oscar Issac and made an estimated $6.01 in its first three days.
The bottom half of the box office Top 10 consisted of titles that have stuck around for a few weeks, including the puppet comedy The Happytime Murders, the adventure movie Alpha, and Spike Lee's BlackKklansman. This Friday sees the release of the Conjuring spin-off The Nun and the action thriller Peppermint, with The Predator following a week later, so expect plenty of change in the chart over the next couple of weeks.
You can see the full Top 10 list for the August 31-September 2 US box office below, as compiled by Box Office Mojo.
Sony has released a short video teasing the first DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man, the upcoming open-world action game developed by Insomniac Games exclusively for the PS4. The video, which you can watch above, offers the first look at Felicia Hardy, better known as Black Cat, sometimes-villain and love interest for Spider-Man. The teaser shows Felicia inviting Spidey to chase and capture her, and we get a glimpse at a sequence where the web-slinger is running along the side of a moving train.
The first DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man is called "The Heist" and will be available from October 23. "As you play the base game, you'll realize that Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, is back in town and she's leaving clues around town to toy with Spider-Man," James Stevenson, community director at Insomniac, previously explained. "In Marvel's Spider-Man: The Heist, she finally reveals herself. Featuring new missions and challenges, as well as a brand new faction of enemies and three additional suits to unlock."
This DLC is chapter one in a three-part series that, as a whole, Insomniac is referring to as "The City That Never Sleeps." The second DLC chapter is called "Turf Wars" and launches in November. The third part of the series is titled "Silver Lining" and is set to arrive in December. A bundle that has all three chapters is available now on the US PlayStation Store for $25. However, individual chapters can also be purchased for $10 each when they're released. A Digital Deluxe version of the game is also available for $80/£65, and it has the full game as well as all the DLC.
Discussing game length, Stevenson previously confirmed how long Spider-Man takes to complete, saying it's around 20 hours for the main campaign and side-quests on the default difficulty. However, those who want to be completionists will spend "a lot longer" in the game.
Spider-Man launches on September 7 and reviews will be published on September 4 at 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET.
The Shield are back together again. And hopefully, not for much longer. A year ago, this would have been interesting, but that ship has sailed.
On the August 20 episode of Raw, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose hit the ring dressed all in black, old music pumping over the speakers, and saved Roman Reigns. Braun Strowman was about to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase. It was a guaranteed title shot that, given Reigns' weakened state, would have almost certainly succeeded. Instead, The Shield--Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns--ganged up on Strowman, putting him through the announcer table with their patented Triple Power Bomb.
The following week, there was another Shield reunion, and this time, it was less successful. Rollins and Ambrose helped Reigns again, but this time, they came out individually, wearing their personalized gear and accompanied by no music. It was very brave and very, very dumb.
Just from the way this segment was shot and edited, it seems WWE is making a point: The Shield only works when Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns are working together, communicating, and cooperating. If they hope to protect Reigns' Universal Championship reign, they'll have to put aside their individual concerns for the sake of the brotherhood. All three members, Reigns included, have better things to do and bigger problems to worry about.
Reigns was proclaimed WWE Universal Champion at Summerslam in August, when he beat Brock Lesnar to win the title. This should have happened at Wrestlemania 34, the natural place to conclude Reigns' character arc. It was long overdue, but apparently, that was the price of getting fans to cheer for Reigns.
Was WWE dragging out Lesnar's title reign to deliberately bore and anger the fans? It seemed that the company was willing to damage their flagship show to get Reigns over; even the biggest Reigns hater would cheer for Reigns to win, if only to get it over with.
So much effort--too much effort--has gone into making this happen. And now that Reigns is the top guy, both literally and figuratively, he needs to stand on his own and win on his own. Reigns needs gritty, stiff, and clean fights. Strowman is an excellent opponent; these two have a high profile history together. But if Reigns doesn't take down Strowman by himself, without the help of his friends, no one will respect it. Reigns is supposed to be a babyface, after all.
The WWE Universal Championship deserves better treatment. Its lineage, thus far, has been a mess. The first guy to win it, Finn Balor, dropped it after less than 24 hours due to injury. The second guy to win it, Kevin Owens, was literally handed the belt by Triple H, and then cheated to retain it. Then Goldberg won it, thanks to a Chris Jericho musical cue that distracted Owens. That set up a marquee match between Goldberg and Lesnar at Wrestlemania 33. And then, Lesnar held the title for over a year while making part-time appearances on television. Eleven title defenses in 500 days is inexcusable.
The belt only matters as much as the people who hold it and how they hold it. And right now, the Universal title doesn't mean much. There needs to be one guy who can hold the belt full-time, without any drama or screwjob finishes. Reigns would be an excellent candidate to give the belt some gravitas. But if he needs to cheat 3-on-1 to do so, it will remain meaningless.
One can see the appeal of putting Reigns with The Shield; it's a guaranteed, positive audience response. But it's a short-term gain for a long-term loss. Reigns doesn't have a natural "gift of gab" like The Rock, even though his back-and-forth exchange with John Cena last year proved he has untapped potential. It'll be harder for him to reach that tipping point when his buddies are compensating for his weaknesses. The motivating factor to raise his game is gone; instead, he reverts to his comfort zone and to a character he once was.
Meanwhile, Rollins puts his singles push on hold, even though he's hotter now than he's been in years and is arguably the most popular babyface on Raw. And Ambrose just came back from injury; is he just going to be Reigns' snarling bodyguard for the next month?
All three men are reliving their past glories, and at this rate, they'll never move past them. Three unique personalities, all subjugated under a single monotonous identity, was fine when they first debuted on the main roster, and their characters still needed to grow. Now, it's just arrested development.
WWE builds it own mythology. Young fans delve into the extensive history of the company, now readily available on the WWE Network. Adult fans reminisce about their now legendary childhood heroes. But this new Shield reunion is too much too soon. They broke less than five years ago; fans can't be this nostalgic for something so recent. Ironically, this stable needs to go away, and stay away, for it to matter again.
Ever since director James Gunn was fired by Disney from Guardian of the Galaxy Vol.3 back in July, Dave Bautista has been very vocal about his unhappiness with the situation. In a new interview, the actor, who plays Drax in the blockbuster Marvel movies, has not only restated that he might not return for Vol.3, but has also revealed that the movie is now on hold.
During an interview on the British talkshow The Jonathan Ross Show, Bautista was asked about whether the rumors that he might not appear in Vol.3 were true. "There's a bit of an issue," he said. "It's a bitter-sweet conversation. No, it's a bitter-bitter conversation because I'm not really happy with what they've done with James Gunn. They're putting the movie off. It's on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you I don't know if I want to work for Disney."
Ross went on to state that Bautista's frankness about the situation was unusual. "I've been very vocal about the way I feel," Bautista said. "I'm not afraid to admit the way I feel. I don't think I'm your typical Hollywood guy."
Gunn was fired after old tweets that saw the director joking about topics such as pedophilia and rape resurfaced online. The rest of the Guardians cast subsequently issued a joint statement in which they offered Gunn their support, but stopped short of demanding that he be rehired. Last month, star Chris Pratt described it as a "complicated situation" and stated that "we just want to move forward and do what's right and be the best people we can be."
It had been rumored that Marvel were pushing Disney to rehire Gunn. However, a recent report stated that although Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn met with Gunn, the studio is refusing to budge on the issue. While Guardian of the Galaxy Vol.3 has never officially been given a release date, it was reportedly set to start production in February 2019 ahead of a 2020 release.
EA has announced that it will make a "VIP demo" for BioWare's Anthem available to EA/Origin Access subscribers on Xbox One and PC, respectively on February 1, 2019. The demo also be available to pre-order customers, which opens the door for PS4 players to get in on the action.
The announcement was made during the studio's PAX West Panel. Anthem lead producer Mike Gamble said the demo is not "a tech test or a beta looking for feedback" and is instead a "slice of our game."
EA has confirmed the Anthem release date as February 22, 2019. The game is a sci-fi action RPG that casts players as Freelancers, who are soldiers that are equipped with Javelins. These super high-tech Iron Man-like suits allow players to fly around environments and engage with enemies while completing quests either alone or with others.
Anthem gameplay was last shown at E3 (watch video of that showing above). However, following the show executive producer Mark Darrah answered questions from fans about the game. During the Twitter Q&As Darrah discussed loadouts, customization of Javelins, weapons, equipment, and more. You can read about all these Anthem gameplay details in our previous coverage.
For the last time before Destiny 2's new DLC expansion, Forsaken, releases, Xur has arrived. But this appearance is notable because it's the first since the huge update that dropped recently, dramatically revamping numerous areas of the game. Among the elements it has touched is Xur himself, whom you might notice no longer appears on the in-game map. Here's where he is and what weapon and armor he's selling--and there are some notable differences.
Patch 2.0 removed the waypoint from the map that directs you to Xur, but it also changed where he shows up. Previously, he would be in the same location as the current week-long Flashpoint. But with Flashpoints now rotating on a four-day basis, Xur's "will is not his own," as the patch notes put it, meaning he can show up anywhere--Flashpoint or not.
As of August 31, Xur can be found in the European Dead Zone. Although it's not marked on the map, he's returned to his usual spot in the Winding Cove; to find him, just spawn in at the landing zone and make your way directly north. He can be found on a hill next to a crashed ship.
As for his wares, he has the typical Isochronal/Fated Engram (more on that in a moment), Three of Coins, and Five of Swords challenge card. It's the Exotic items that are significant: Although you'll simply find a typical lineup of one weapon and one piece of armor for each class, random rolls--something from the original Destiny being re-introduced with Forsaken--may be in effect. The armor available each have different perks from those you already own, and will be superior due to the sheer fact that they have more perks than existing versions. It's unclear if these are random rolls or the new set perks for these Exotics, but either way, they might be worth purchasing. Here's what you can get and how much it all costs:
One other 2.0 update change for Xur to be aware of concerns the Fated Engram. Buying this expensive item previously ensured you'd receive an Exotic you didn't already own. Going forward, this will only consist of Exotics available prior to Forsaken. That may be disappointing to those hoping for a reliable way to secure Forsaken Exotics, but this will at least remain a viable way for seeking to round out their Year 1 Exotic collection.
Forsaken releases on September 4 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4--with a variety of timed-exclusive content on PS4. On September 1, all Destiny 2 players (which now includes everyone with a PS Plus subscription) can take part in a 24-hour trial of Gambit, the new PvP/PvE hybrid mode being introduced in Forsaken.
Season 5 of Fortnite: Battle Royale continues on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and--most recently--Android. As with the previous seasons, this one brings with it a selection of fresh challenges to complete on a weekly basis, as well as a variety of Battle Pass rewards to unlock for your efforts. This time, however, Epic has made a few tweaks to the way certain Battle Pass challenges operate, including the introduction of free challenges for all players. Here's everything you need to know about the newest Season 5 challenges, details on all of the ones available so far through Week 8, and exactly how to get them all done.
Once again, players who purchase the Season 5 Battle Pass will get a set of objectives to complete every week, which in turn will go toward leveling the Battle Pass up and unlocking new rewards. Unlike past seasons, however, weekly challenges are now divided into two categories, Free (which are available to all Fortnite players) and Battle Pass (which are reserved for those who've purchased the Pass). That means that even if you haven't bought the Battle Pass, you'll still be able to complete certain objectives and earn rewards.
If you do decide to pick up the Battle Pass partway through the season, you'll be also able to retroactively unlock any premium rewards you've earned based on the tier that you've already reached. However, one of the advantages of purchasing the Battle Pass early is bonus XP, which is awarded for playing in general and for playing in a party with friends. Since leveling up with XP translates into Battle Stars, you'll want to grab the Battle Pass as soon as you can and take advantage of these bonuses.
There are two other types of challenges to complete this season as well: Road Trip and Drift. The former are much like the Blockbuster challenges from Season 4; when you complete all of the challenges in a given week, you'll receive a special loading screen that points to the location of a hidden Battle Star. Drift challenges, on the other hand, task you with gaining a certain amount of XP. There are five Drift challenges to complete in total in Season 5, each of which reward you with a new style option for the Drift skin. If you manage to complete four out of the five Drift challenges, you'll also unlock the Rift Edge, an alternative for the pickaxe. For a limited time, you can also complete special anniversary challenges tied to Fortnite's birthday event.
You'll find a complete list of all Season 5 challenges available so far below, along with links to our maps and guides that will help you complete them all. You can see all of the new skins, cosmetics, emotes, sprays, and other items to unlock this season in our gallery of Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass rewards.

After the delayed launch for Week 7, Fortnite's challenges are back in their usual slot for Season 5, Week 8. That means PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile players have new rewards to work towards earning right now. As with previous weeks in this season, challenges are partitioned into two categories, with some available to all players and others only to those that have paid for a Battle Pass. As always, we've got a breakdown of all the new Fortnite challenges and guides to help you get them done, including one of the trickiest of the bunch: use a Rift at different Rift spawns.
On the free side, this week's challenge involve placing 10 traps, searching seven chests in Wailing Woods and getting four kills with a shotgun. While the free challenges this week are relatively easy, the ones in the paid Battle Pass section will require a little more time, effort, and perseverance.
The first involves doing 250 damage to enemies with the pickaxe, which means you'll need to get up close and personal. Since enemies may opt to just gun you down, you'll have to be sneaky and try not to get discouraged by all the bullets flying your way while you're trying to do some nice, wholesome melee damage.
The remaining paid Battle Pass challenges are the quite tough. One is a three-part challenge that begins by asking you to eliminate an opponent in Greasy Grove. Completing this is all down to your prowess as a hunter, so hang around in the area and see if you can pick of an unsuspecting enemy. Once done, you can progress on to the next stage of the challenge. Another challenge involves searching between three oversized seats, while the final one requires you to use a Rift at 10 different Rift spawn locations.
The Rifts were introduced at the start of Season 5, and generally they all appear in the same location. Since the challenge is very similar to previous ones that have also required interacting with Rifts, you should have a good feel for where they are. As a refresher, here are some of the common locations that you can find rifts.
Rift Spawn Locations
Southeast of Junk Junction near the Easter Island statue
Northeast of Risky Reels around the Noms sign
Northwest of Dusty Divot in the mountain
Northwest of Tomato Town around the river
East of Pleasant Park close to the Durr Burger statue
North of Paradise Palms in the town
Northwest of Paradise Palms around the lake
Southeast of Shifty Shafts around the Easter Island statue
West of Lucky Landing around the Easter Island statue
Northeast of Paradise Pals around the Go Kart track
If you need further help locating the Rifts, we've also put together a map of common Rift location and a video of us completing the challenge above to give you a better idea of where to go. You can see all the other Week 8 challenges, and their rewards, below.

On August 28, Epic launched a new update for Fortnite, introducing a new weapon and a Limited-Time Mode to Battle Royale. The Shockwave Grenade, classed as an Epic rarity item, can be acquired from Supply Drops, Vending Machines, chests, and llamas. Upon detonation, it knocks back anyone caught in the blast, and although the victims don't take fall damage, they will destroy any structures they crash through.
The new Limited-Time Mode, meanwhile, is called "Solid Gold." This can be played in the standard and 50v50 variations and, as in past iterations, weapons and items that spawn will all be of the Legendary variety. Those are the headliners, but you can see everything new from the Fortnite 5.30 content update here.
The patch also made a significant change to the challenge that tasks players with opening chests in specific locations, making it a little more manageable. We analysed the impact this change has had, saying that Fortnite has finally made the treasure chest challenges fun.
A new batch of challenges for Fortnite Season 5, Week 8 are now available. One of the more difficult ones that paid Battle Pass owners will face is one that asks players to search between three oversized seats. Doing so will net you 10 Battle Stars, but unless you're quite familiar with the map, you may find yourself at a loss for where to go. For those people, we've put together a short and sweet guide on where to go to get the challenge done.
To complete this challenge, all you've got to do is head to the mountain just north of Flush Factory and you'll find the Battle Star, as it's pretty easy to spot in that location. You can take a look at the exact location below, where you'll find a few images of the map zoomed in to where you need to be. Alternatively, you can watch the video above and see us complete the challenge for a better idea of where to go.
The other tricky challenge involves using a Rift at 10 different Rift Portal spawn locations. If you play a lot of Fortnite you'll no doubt have seen these countless times on your travels, so you should have a good feel for where to go. All you need to do is travel around the island to 10 of them, interact, and you're good to go. However, if you need a little guidance, we've got a Rift spawn location guide to make things a bit easier.
If you're still catching up on older challenges, we can offer a helping hand with those too. Just head over to our full Fortnite Season 5 challenge guide, where you'll find a complete breakdown for every challenge from this season, the rewards you get for completing them, and guides to make things quick and easy for you to do.

Battlefield V has been delayed. The World War II shooter will now launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 20, publisher EA confirmed in a statement. The company says the delay will give developer DICE additional development time to fine-tune the game as it sees fit.
"We're going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of [new Battlefield live service] Tides of War," wrote DICE General Manager Oskar Gabrielson. "We know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer. But we're going to take our time to make sure we get it right."
Battlefield V was previously scheduled to launch on October 19, meaning the new date represents a delay of a month. It also means the game will now be released after Red Dead Redemption 2, along with other big titles like Hitman 2 and Fallout 76. Battlefield's biggest rival, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, launches on October 12.
To celebrate Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate coming to Nintendo Switch on August 28, 2018, we're giving away 10 copies of the game and 1 Nintendo Switch!
One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a Nintendo Switch, plus a copy of the game, and nine (9) runner-ups will receive the game on Nintendo Switch.
Entry is open to United States residents only. Competition ends September 9, 2018 at 11:59 PM PDT.
About the game:
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is the follow-up to Monster Hunter Generations, and marks the Monster Hunter series' debut on Nintendo Switch as an exclusive. Hunters can face off against the largest roster of unique monsters in any Monster Hunter game to date. Players take on the role of a brave hunter challenging larger than life beasts that yield valuable resources used for crafting unique weapons and equipment. Accept hundreds of quests solo or with friends in this nostalgic look back at the series' beginnings and evolutions. Along the hunter's journey, players must defend each of the game's four villages from major threats known as the Fated Four, plus an even more dangerous new Elder Dragon. This game features a blend of classic gameplay and unique new twists, brand new explorable areas and monsters, plus returning fan-favorites like the lightning fast Zinogre and the stealthy long-tailed Nargacuga. Fans will be able to play in tabletop mode or in handheld mode on-the-go with up to three other hunters locally or online when it releases on August 28, 2018.
[UPDATE] During the livestream, Epic showed off the new mode, skins, and grappler gun for the first time. You can see a replay of the segment in the video below, from YouTube account Fortnite Cookies. Four safes are loaded in supply drops scattered throughout the map. You and three others must work together to find the safes, extract the valuable item inside (it's a jewel llama, of course), and then get to the extraction zone without dying. You're doing this all the while fighting to stay alive against other teams of players. As for the Grappler gun, it works just like you'd imagine; you fire it at a wall and it sends you soaring in that direction. The new mode and the Grappler gun look like they could change things up significantly.
The original story is below.
The next big Fortnite update will add a new event called High Stakes. This will add one new outfit and four masks (pictured below), as well as a brand-new Limited Time Mode called "Getaway." Developer Epic Games will show off the new mode for the first time during a PAX West stream on Twitch today, September 2.
You can watch the stream through the embed below. The gameplay reveal is slated for 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET / 11 AM Sydney (September 3), so check back soon to watch the event.
Fortnite's High Stakes event also includes a series of challenges to complete and be able to get their hands on the new Wild Card skin. The High Stakes event appears to be themed around heists and gambling.
