With an open beta kicking off in just a few days, Dawn of War III developer Relic has released a lengthy new video of it in action.
Rather than merely show off gameplay, the video features commentary from director Philippe Boulle and designer Carolina Mastretta talking through a full 3v3 multiplayer match. The two provide some analysis of how things play out.
The tips they share should come in handy soon, as an open beta for the game takes place this weekend. All three factions will be available, and you'll be able to customize both their look and play style with a limited selection of Doctrines. Not all Elite units or maps are included, and you'll be limited to playing against other humans--AI matches and the campaign will have to wait for the official release. Any progress made in the beta won't carry over to the full game.
Dawn of War III's open beta begins at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/6 PM GMT on Friday, April 21, and concludes at the same time on April 24. The full game follows not long after, launching on April 27, with three different versions available.

Captain Marvel will be Marvel's first female-fronted superhero movie, and it hits theaters in 2019. There has been much speculation about who will direct the film over the past year, and now, it has been reported that it will in fact have two directors.
According to Variety, the film will be helmed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. The pair previously made the acclaimed gambling drama Mississippi Grind, which starred Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn. Boden and Fleck also collaborated on Ryan Gosling's breakthrough movie Half Nelson and have directed episodes of hit TV shows The Affair and Billions.
Captain Marvel will star Oscar-winner Brie Larson in the title role. Although Larson was announced last summer, Marvel has taken its time to find a director. Back in August 2016, it was reported that Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland), Niki Caro (Whale Rider), and Lorene Scafaria (Seeking a Friend for the End of the World) were all on the studio's shortlist.
Earlier this year, Larson spoke about the importance of taking on this iconic role. "The fact that she can be a bridge between two worlds, that she can go between Earth and space and that her own personal place is in this little area between where Earth ends and space begins and that's only hers, is so moving to me," she said. "I'm just inspired. I've been so inspired going through the comics and reading them right now."
Captain Marvel has been the name of various heroes over the years. The current incarnation is the alter ego of Carol Danvers. Danvers previously used the name of Ms. Marvel and first appeared in her own comic book in 1977, before taking the identity of Captain Marvel in 2012.

Digital sales made nearly three times as much money as physical sales in the US during 2016, according to a new report by the Entertainment Software Association.
More precisely, NPD figures say 74% of sales in the US came via "subscriptions, digital full games, digital add-on content, mobile apps, and social network games," while 26% came from traditional boxed titles. Together, the categories generated a total of $24.5 billion, with an extra $3.7 billion coming from hardware and $2.2 billion from VR.
Digital is making up a larger proportion of video game sales each year; its share has risen every year since 2010, when the digital:physical split sat at 31:69. Total spend has also increased every year over the same period.
By comparison, physical makes up "almost 50% of all the revenue generated from games and games-related items" in the UK, according to GamesIndustry.
"Like everything else, the consumer is ultimately going to default to convenience," he said. "If it's a choice of getting in the car and driving to the store and the weather is bad outside, if you want to download it, I think you'll see more people do that."
Elsewhere in the report, the ESA states that "67% of US households own a device that is used to play video games," while the average age of a US gamer is apparently 35. Graphics continue to play a huge part in deciding whether to buy a game, meanwhile: 67% of respondents cited it as a factor, making it the single biggest consideration, before even price (65%) or "an interesting story/premise" (59%).
The survey, which was carried out by market research firm Ipsos, gathered data from "over 4000 households," though the number of individual respondents is not disclosed.
Check out the ESA's full report for yourself here.
Shopping for PC components can be intimidating if you're not up to date on hardware news. Fortunately, we've done the research for you and have put together three tiered builds (cheap, mid-range, and high-end) geared to deliver great gaming experiences.
You can certainly build a gaming PC for less than our budget-oriented rig here, but it's often a good idea to spend a little more to mitigate serious bottlenecks and to avoid harsh compromises. With that in mind, we spec'd out components that will deliver an excellent 1080p gaming experience for around $750.
Click through the gallery to read why we chose our respective components.
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GV-RX580GAMING RX 580
Last time around, we recommended AMD's 4GB RX 480 as our budget-friendly card of choice. That GPU is being phased out in favor of AMD's newer, more powerful RX 580. We're updating our build here with Gigabyte's GV-RX580GAMING SKU, which currently retails for around $220. While the card is still based on the same underlying Polaris architecture as the RX 480 before it, Gigabyte's card here offers 8GB of video RAM, which is twice as much VRAM as the Sapphire Nitro+ SKU we recommended last time. It's also slightly overclocked to 1355MHz, a 15MHz boost from the RX 580's stock frequency.
Two Gigabyte Windforce fans keep the GPU cool. The card also offers plenty of ports that include DVI, HDMI, and three DisplayPort connections.
In general, the RX 580 should run roughly 10-15 percent faster than stock RX 480s, which makes it a great GPU for maxing out 1080p gaming on a high refresh rate panel or if you want to wade the waters of 1440p.
CPU: Intel Core i5-7400
Intel's $60 dual-core G4400 CPU is a tempting proposition for a budget rig, but in general, we recommend a quad-core CPU for gaming. Four cores is really the sweet spot. While the current crop of AMD CPUs are generally cheaper than Intel's modern quad-core solutions, they require AMD's AM3+ chipset, which is outdated and will soon be replaced by the company's upcoming AM4 platform. With AMD's Ryzen CPUs around the corner, it doesn't make much sense to go with an AMD processor right now.
That's why we're going with the Core i5-7400 processor, which is Intel's most affordable four-core Kaby Lake CPU. The relatively new chip is built on a 14nm production process and offers four threads. The CPU is clocked at 3GHz, features a max turbo frequency of 3.5GHz, and offers 6MB of cache.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H270M-DS3H
To supplement our Core-i5 7400 CPU, we're going with Gigabyte's GA-H270M-DS3H motherboard. It has the LGA 1151 socket support we need and has Intel's latest Kaby Lake chipset. It also supports up to 64GB of dual-channel memory and has two PCIe slots, an M.2 connector, and four USB 3.1 ports.
RAM: Patriot 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Model PSD48G2133K
While 4GB of system RAM will allow you to squeak by in most games, you'll really want 8GB. We're going with two 4GB sticks of Patriot DDR4 memory clocked at 2133MHz. Going with two sticks allows us to run the 8GB of RAM in dual-channel mode, which allows us to get more memory bandwidth. At around 60 bucks, it's one of the more affordable 8GB solutions currently on the market.
SSD: Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB
Friends don't let friends build gaming PCs without solid-state drives, even for budget-oriented rigs. We recommend even a small SSD, at least for the operating system. This will allow your PC to quickly boot. For this budget build, we're going with a modest 120GB SSD from Kingston, the company's SSDNow UV400. This is enough for the operating system and your most-used games and applications. The drive offers read and write speeds up to 550MB/s and 500MB/s, respectively. Though the drive scales up to 960GB, the 120GB variant costs around 40 bucks, which isn't likely to break the bank.
HDD: WL 1TB 32MB Cache 7200RPM
In an ideal world, we'd all be using nothing but massive solid-state drives, but because SSDs are still relatively expensive compared to hard drives, we're recommending a 1TB HDD to supplement this rig. Just because this is a budget build doesn't mean we have to go with a slow 5,400rpm drive, however. The white label version that we're recommending here spins at a faster 7,200rpm. The big thing to look out for when shopping for an HDD is price per GB. With this drive costing four cents per GB, that's not a bad bargain.
Case: Corsair Carbide Series 100R
Just because we're putting together an affordable gaming PC doesn't mean we have to skimp out and buy an ugly case. The Corsair Carbide Series 100R chassis not only looks clean and modern with its all-black finish, but it's also made of steel and features a side-panel window, which allows you to admire all your rig's sexy components. The front of the case features two USB 3.0 ports and 3.5mm audio jacks. Inside the case, there are four tool-less drive trays and enough room for full-size graphics cards that measure up to 12 inches. The 100R also includes one 12cm fan and a removable dust filter beneath the power supply slot.
Power Supply: Corsair CX Series CX 500W 80 Plus Bronze PSU
While we're on a mission to build an affordable rig, you don't want to skimp on the power supply unit--you wouldn't want a cheap PSU to short out and harm any of your components. We're going with Corsair's CX500 power supply. The company makes great PSUs, and the CX version here carries a respectable 80 Plus Bronze rating. With 500 watts of power, we've got enough juice for our entire rig.
Total
The total for our build comes up to $751.92 You can certainly build a PC for less, but this build represents a killer gaming rig that will be able to max out the most graphically demanding games at 1080p with smooth frame rates. It'll also be able to handle VR and plenty of 1440p games as well. It has all the core components you need in a great gaming PC.
Ubisoft, publisher of big franchises such as Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, and Watch Dogs, is expanding by opening two new development studios in Europe this year.
The first will be based in Berlin, Germany, and will work closely with the Ubisoft-owned Blue Byte on an "unannounced AAA project." Blue Byte most recently made Anno 2205 and assisted Ubisoft Montreal on the development of For Honor and Rainbow Six Siege.
Ubisoft is currently working on a new Assassin's Creed game, which the company says will be released "when it's ready;" it's also likely the publisher is working on other unannounced projects.
Ubisoft Bordeaux, meanwhile, will operate out of south-west France and assist the company's other French studios, including those in Paris, Annecy, and Montpellier. Those development houses have recently led the making of Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Steep, and Just Dance 2017, among other projects.
The remastered version of Wild Guns, a sci-fi/western shooting gallery game for SNES, is headed to PC later this year.
Wild Guns Reloaded, which was released on PS4 late last year, has been announced for release on Steam. Reloaded features improved visuals, two new characters (with their own unique weapons), new stages, new bosses, and support for four-player local multiplayer. There are also online rankings but, unfortunately, no online multiplayer.
Developer and publisher Natsume says this is not just the first appearance of Wild Guns on PC, but the company's first release on the platform. It's one of "several" games the company will have to show off at E3 in June.
GameSpot's review of Wild Guns Reloaded on PS4 was positive, awarding the game an 8/10. "Between the fine-tuned gameplay, the enhanced visuals and sound, the four-player fun, and the new gameplay-changing character additions, Wild Guns Reloaded is one of the best retro reissues we've yet seen on the PS4," Heidi Kemps wrote.
Reloaded launches for Steam sometime this summer. A price wasn't announced, but the PS4 version sells for $30.

The Nintendo Switch remains difficult to track down six weeks after its release, but you can order one from GameStop right now. The catch: you may have to wait a few weeks, and it'll cost you $500.
Add it all up using GameStop's $60 price on the microSD card, and it comes out to $500, so it's not as if you're being overcharged for this. You'll simply need to want everything that's included for the bundle to be a worthwhile deal.
Switch has been routinely sold out since its launch in early March, and GameStop previously said on a call with investors that supply issues could last all year.
If you're interested, you can order the bundles here (gray) or here (neon). GameStop says they'll ship by no later than May 5. With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe releasing on April 28, you probably shouldn't expect to see your delivery any sooner than that.
Echo has also been given a little boost: his Yokai drone's disorienting effect will now work if you hit any part of your opponent's body, as Ubisoft felt it was too difficult to hit enemies' heads.
Montagne players may be disappointed with the latest update however, as his hip-fire spread while using the LFP586 has been increased, especially at mid- to long-ranges.
The full list of changes can be seen below, via Ubisoft. The publisher also promises that it is working on a fix for Hibana's gadget, which at seemingly random times doesn't detonate. However, that fix will not come in this update.
The update arrives today for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, meaning servers will be unavailable for one hour starting at the following times:
PS4: 6 AM PST / 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST
Xbox One: 7 AM PST / 10 AM ET / 3 PM BST
PC: 8 AM PST / 11 AM ET / 4 PM BST
Rainbow Six Siege Update 2.1.3 Patch Notes
Gameplay
FIXED – If the entire enemy team is kicked for team killing, the winning team does not gain any MMR.
FIXED – Operators are able to deploy their gadgets while prone.
FIXED – The Death From Above bonus applies to all kills when initiated while rappelling.
FIXED – The DBNO timer is not paused when a teammate is reviving a downed player.
FIXED – Shield Operators were utilizing an ancient technique to reload their pistols instantly. The knowledge for how to perform this reload has once again been forgotten.
FIXED – Operators sometimes get stuck to a Barricade when placing a Breaching Charge on a Barricade that is partially damaged. The Defenders now properly dispose of their gum in trash receptacles.
FIXED – Gadget deployment does not trigger properly when a sidearm is in use.
FIXED – Reloading does not always properly reload the weapon, even if the animation plays. Bandit's April Fools joke of replacing some magazines with empty ones was not received well by Rainbow Six Actual.
FIXED – Barricades and Reinforced Walls are not properly displaying for all players.
FIXED – Some players are able to exit and re-enter ADS with shields instantly. Shields are heavy, you can't flap them around.
FIXED – Players are able to achieve full ADS accuracy without fully aiming down sights.
Game Mode
Caster Camera
FIXED – Spectating a player on Oregon in the Basement will cause the camera to switch floors.
Terrorist Hunt
FIXED – Players will see a broken animation when an Attacking Operator with a shield uses the refill station.
Custom Game
FIXED – Mira's One Way Mirror cannot be ejected if Friendly Fire is deactivated.
Operators
Montagne
FIXED – Montagne places his left hand on an invisible shield in the MVP screen when viewed by other players.
LFP586 hip fire spread has been increased: We felt like Montagne paired with the LFP586 + laser sight was overall too strong at medium and longer range encounters, so we have increased the hip fire spread of the gun. Montagne won't be able to quickly shut down his opponent without having to expose himself anymore, given that there is a decent distance between the two.
Twitch
FIXED – Shock Drone will kill players that are using Rook's Armor Plates, as opposed to downing them.
FIXED – The Shock Drone makes no sound effect when destroyed.
FIXED – Twitch does not have any audio barks when the Maquis Legendary Uniform is equipped.
Mute
FIXED – MP5K Iron Sights are missing the glow on the front sight post.
Fuze
FIXED – Fuze's gloves will now match his uniform. He confirmed that he will not be forgetting items from the packing list again.
Hibana
FIXED – X-KAIROS Pellets disappear if they are shot while a player is leaning around cover.
X-KAIROS pellet bug status: We have been investigating the issue with Hibana's gadget randomly not detonating for a long time, and once we found the resolution to this issue we realized it is much more complex than we had expected. After significant testing and tweaking, we decided that the only way to resolve the issue was to rebuild the backend design of Hibana's gadget. This is not an easy task, but we have targeted this to be completed within Y2S2. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Kapkan
FIXED – EDD can be deployed through an object, causing a broken animation.
Echo
FIXED – Yokai can be thrown directly onto the ceiling and will stick to it.
FIXED – Sonic Burst disorient effect hits twice on certain Operators with gadgets in their hands.
FIXED – Yokai's crosshair does not display that a susceptible target is being aimed at.
FIXED – Yokai cannot disorient teammates during the Preparation Phase.
FIXED – Yokai drone cannot be destroyed by projectile explosion while in camo.
Yokai Drone disorients a player if it hits any body part: Echo's Yokai drone's sonic burst now registers all body parts as a valid hit surface to trigger the disorientation effect on the opponent. We felt like it was really hard to hit the head (even more so on consoles), so we're giving Echo players a lot more room for imprecision to trigger the effect.
Tachanka
FIXED – LMG makes no sound when being deployed or picked up if the shield is destroyed.
FIXED – LMG shield appears visible momentarily after being redeployed if the shield was previously destroyed.
FIXED – Player does not properly "attach" to the LMG after vaulting over an object.
Caveira
FIXED – Damage displayed in the kill camera is too high.
Mira
FIXED – Placing the Black Mirror on reinforced walls separated by an indestructible pillar will cause the gadget to only partially deploy.
FIXED – It is possible to melee drone from the opposite side of an unbroken Black Mirror.
FIXED – Improper behavior of wall during deployment of the Black Mirror on walls with metal beams.
FIXED – Objects on the walls are destroyed after Black Mirror activation, as opposed to during the deployment animation.
Jackal
FIXED – Weapon becomes invisible after quickly activating and deactivating the Hunter Vision repeatedly.
IQ
FIXED – IQ has the wrong nail polish color in 3rd person view.
Thermite
FIXED – Red LED on the Exothermic Charge remains on after removing the charge.
Glaz
FIXED – Hip-firing with the OTS-03 results in a perfectly circular shot pattern, as opposed to shots landing at the point of aim.
Tweaks to Glaz's scope will make it easier to know when a shot lands or misses:
After shipping the new scope for Glaz with the Velvet Shell Mid-Season Reinforcements, we noticed that the blood splatter visual effects were not working properly. This called into question whether hits would land on the player's opponent or not. We have also reduced the noise created by the thermal lens, which caused the yellow highlight to bleed from the edges of the character, which gave the player a false sense of where the opponent's body begins and ends. As a result, players will be able to see much better when a hit lands and when it doesn't.
Reduced the noise on the edges of the highlighted enemy.
Lowered the contrast of the teal tint of the lens.
Lowered the contrast of the yellow highlight on opponents.
Fixed the blood splatters effect not appearing on successful shots.
Level Design
Bartlett University
FIXED – Placing the Black Mirror on non-reinforced walls with paintings on the other side will not destroy the props and will obscure vision.
FIXED – Invisible collision causes drones to appear as if they are floating in the Library.
Chalet
FIXED – Players cannot vault over a Deployable Shield if placed at 2F Library Hallway doorway.
FIXED – Yokai can destroy and stick to shelves that are midway up the wall.
House
FIXED – X-KAIROS Pellets do not penetrate the top window of the Upper Hallway stairwell when fired from the outside tower.
Consulate
FIXED – Wall is not fully destroyed when Black Mirror is activated on it in "B Electric Room".
Oregon
FIXED – Deployable gadgets are instantly destroyed when shooting at the indestructible table in B Laundry Room.
User Experience
FIXED – Players do not receive any points when killing an enemy with a gadget after the player has died.
FIXED – Firing pin group does not follow the slide for the USP or Mk1 9mm.
FIXED – When shooting at least two times before detonating, X-KAIROS pellets do not produce any sound in third person.
FIXED – IQ has the wrong nail polish color in 3rd person view. She was very excited to show off her latest manicure.
FIXED – Wrong placement for Shields in the Winning Showcase.
FIXED – DBNO audio remains present after reviving the DBNO Operator.
FIXED – Any equipped gadget is invisible if held for more than 9 seconds with one hit key (advanced deployment option) in hand in the End of Round replay or any replay.
Dead Cells, an intriguing new game that combines elements of Castlevania, roguelikes, and Dark Souls, arrives on Steam in Early Access in just a few weeks.
Developer Motion Twin today announced that Dead Cells arrives for PC in Early Access on May 10, with Mac and Linux versions to follow at a later time. A price has not yet been announced, but you can expect to see 30-40% of the full game's content available in the Early Access version.
Dead Cells is, as Motion Twin puts it, a "RogueVania" game, combining elements of Metroidvania-style games with those of roguelikes. Permadeath is a key element, but various progression systems mean you don't start from scratch just because you die.
Motion Twin also highlights its "punishing" difficulty and Souls-inspired combat. There's also an emphasis on exploration, with procedural generation used to mix up the exact layout of the otherwise "handcrafted" levels.
We got to check out Dead Cells at PAX East earlier this year and walked away impressed with how it blended its various inspirations together. You can read more about it here and check out a new trailer above.

Starlord, Gamora, Groot, and the rest of the gang return to screens next month in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. A new clip from the Marvel space adventure has been released, and it features Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) taking a break from interstellar action to show Gamora (Zoe Saldana) some smooth dance moves. Check it out below:
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 also stars Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, and Kurt Russell. Earlier this week director James Gunn revealed that the movie would have no fewer than five post-credit sequences.
Gunn has also confirmed that he will return to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. "My love for [the characters] goes deeper than you guys can possibly imagine," he wrote on Facebook."I feel they have more adventures to go on and things to learn about themselves and the wonderful and sometimes terrifying universe we all inhabit.
"And like in both Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, we will work on creating the story that goes beyond what you expect."
