Batman Goes Metal In New Comic

By Tony Guerrero on Apr 02, 2017 11:41 pm

In 2011, DC Comics relaunched its line of comics with the New 52. The creative team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's run resulted in an acclaimed 50-issue series on Batman, which ended in April 2016. DC Comics announced Snyder and Capullo are reuniting with the rest of the creative team--Jonathan Glapion on inks and FCO Plascencia on colors--this summer with Dark Nights: Metal.

The specifics of the story are being kept vague. Writer Snyder dropped some hints about the upcoming series: "I've been planning Metal for as long as I've been writing Batman," says Snyder. "But this is bigger than Batman. Greg and I started dropping clues during Court of Owls, we continued through our Joker stories and we placed our biggest hints in the run that culminated with Batman #50. And now we're back to tell a story that breaks everything apart. This will be the definitive project of our careers. Metal takes us in an entirely new direction. Greg and I will dig beneath the surface of all the stories we've told to find a place of terror and twisted nightmares."

Snyder also stated the story won't be entirely grim despite the terror and nightmares rooted in it. "Dark Nights: Metal will be celebratory, huge and crazy. I've said it before: I am going for out-of-control dinosaurs and lasers."

The first issue of Dark Nights: Metal will be on sale August 2017.

Sega has released Bayonetta on Steam...sort of.

Sega is not the only video game company getting in on the April Fool's Day madness. Check out GameSpot's roundup here to see how other games are marking the occasion.

Another Video Game Movie Is On The Way

By Eddie Makuch on Apr 02, 2017 02:51 am

The next video game movie has been revealed. Variety reports that a film based on the indie game We Happy Few is coming from Gold Circle Entertainment, which produces the Pitch Perfect films.

The developer of We Happy Few, Compulsion Games, is working with transmedia company dj2 Entertainment on the film. That company is also working on the Life Is Strange, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Sleeping Dogs movies.

It sounds like early days for the We Happy Few movie, as the producers are now looking for writers for the script. There is no word yet on a director or cast.

Compulsion Games' Guillaume Provost said the film companies came to the developer "with really solid ideas about how to adapt our game to film while retaining its menace, dark humor, and central themes."

dj2 Entertainment CEO Dmitri Johnson added: "Our commitment is to make a movie that remains true to the source material, while still surprising fans."

We Happy Few is tells the story of "a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial."

The game is set in a "drug-fueled, retrofuturistic" English town in an alternate 1960s at a time where the government has set up a drug-induced happiness for its residents to hide the truth. You play as a rebel who lives illegally outside of the drug's effects as you try to unravel the mysteries.

We Happy Few is currently available on PC through Steam Early Access.

Zelda Breath Of The Wild: How To Ride A Guardian

By Justin Haywald on Apr 02, 2017 12:59 am

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to offer up new surprises for players who explore the far reaches of Nintendo's open-world adventure, and the latest is the ability to "ride" the dangerous Guardians scattered through the game.

While you can mount a wide-variety of animals in Breath of Wild simply by sneaking up on them (include Bears and Stags), the Guardian takes a little more preparation and a very special item. As hinted at by various characters on the outskirts of Hyrule Field, you can combine Ancient Guardian parts into some recipes to create powerful concoctions. Although this always results in the useless Dubious Food when you cook the parts alongside regular food, bringing together a Giant Ancient Core and a Fang from each of the game's powerful dragons--Dinraal, Naydra, and Farosh--will create an Ancient Guardian Key.

The item description for the Key reads: "You've distilled the Power, Wisdom, and Courage of Hyrule's three dragons into a mysterious key. It glows with energy when Ancient Guardians are near, but what could it be used for...?" And as you can guess, when you get close enough to a Guardian with the key in your possession, you're given a new command prompt: Enter. You can see us catching a ride in a Guardian as well as some tips for collecting each of the Fangs in the video at the top of the story.

Harnessing the destructive power of a Guardian has been one of Breath of the Wild's better kept secrets, but one aspect of the process that has us curious is the fact that the Ancient Guardian Key is a consumable item. This presents the possibility that it may have other uses somewhere in Hyrule that we haven't discovered yet. If you've found what else the key unlocks, let us know in the comments below!

And for even more Breath of the Wild coverage check out our list of the best armor in the game as well as a list of a few other secrets the game doesn't necessarily tell you outright.
