The final Wonder Woman trailer has arrived. With our recent trip to London to speak with director Patty Jenkins, we were able to pull out some key information from the new footage. Here's what's happening in the new scenes. Warning: There may be some minor spoilers for the movie.
We first see Diana on Themyscira, the Amazons hidden island, at age 8. Her mother, Hippolyta, tells her about the history of their people.
Hippolyta takes Diana to where they keep the gifts from the gods.
Diana is impressed by the god killer sword. She asks who will wield it. Her mother tells her only the fiercest among them could.
It may seem a little cruel, but Hippolyta tells Diana that she will not be worthy of wielding the god killer sword. This is really because, as a mother, she wants to protect her daughter from harm. You can see the look of determination on Diana's face. She will decide to train in secret with her aunt, General Antiope.
Hippolyta eventually finds out about the training. She then orders Antiope to train Diana harder than any Amazon has been before. Hippolyta is aware of Diana's full potential.
As Antiope relentlessly pushes Diana, a powerful concussive blast is unleashed when Diana crosses her arms. Hippolyta is okay with Diana being trained to her full potential but doesn't want her to know the truth about what she is.
When Steve Trevor's plane crashes off the coast of Themyscira, Diana rescues him. When he asks her where they are, Diana informs him it's their sacred duty to defend the world. Zeus originally created the Amazons to restore peace after Ares, the God of War, corrupted mankind.
Trevor had stolen secret German plans. Dr. Maru (Doctor Poison) is developing a deadly gas. She's working with General Ludendorff outside the German Army.
Hippolyta isn't thrilled with the idea of Diana leaving Themyscira to get involved in the war. Diana believes if she goes to the most dangerous place in the war, she'll find Ares. If she defeats him, the war will be over. She breaks into the Amazons' armory and takes the god killer sword.
Inside the armory, she also sees the outfit that we refer to as the Wonder Woman suit.
Diana and Steve leave Themyscira by a boat. Along the way, they're able to get to know each other. Arriving in 1918 London, she thinks it's hideous with all the smoke and factories.
An assassin attempts to shoot Trevor. Diana, in a civilian guise, manages to deflect the bullet. Trevor is surprised and impressed.
Trevor delivers the German documents to the War Council. They refuse to act on the threat of a deadly gas being developed because an armistice is in the works. Steve, Diana, and three of his buddies to take Diana to the frontline. When they arrive at No Man's Land, she's told it's impossible to cross with all the German soldiers on the other side. She insists on going to stop the soldiers in order to help innocent townspeople get to safety.
Wonder Woman displays her immense strength by throwing a truck. Throughout her journey, she continues to discover the extent of her abilities. Pushing herself reveals more that she is capable of doing.
Diana and Steve continue to become closer. The movie will be lighter in tone than Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. It will also contain humor along with plenty of action.
General Ludendorff confronts Wonder Woman and asks what she is.
Ludendorff had been given a serum by Dr. Maru which enhanced his strength. He's seen able to go toe-to-toe with Wonder Woman.
The final scene displays some of the humor in the movie. In her civilian guise, Diana has difficulty trying to leave a building through a revolving door with her sword and shield. Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2.
