There may not be any major new Switch games arriving this week, but the eShop has added three more titles in the US.
The first of these is another entry in the ACA NeoGeo series, 1996 golf game Neo Turf Masters ($8), which features two-player support. Next up is New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers ($10), a single-player town-building sim. And finally is a port of Othello ($5), a version of the classic game Reversi. Two-player support is offered with a single Joy-Con, or the game can be played used the touchscreen itself. All three games are ports or updated versions of existing games for Switch.
You can grab all three of these games right now on the eShop in the US. You can see screenshots of them all in the gallery above.
Coming up next week, on March 28, is an original Switch game, Has-Been Heroes. This is a sort of strategy/action game hybrid that was showcased during the big Switch event in January. It'll be available digitally and physically for $20.
The cult TV show Twin Peaks returns to screens in May, and new cast images have been released. They can seen on a series of Entertainment Weekly covers--check them out in the gallery below:
The first cover shows director and co-creator David Lynch (who also plays Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole) with Kyle McLachlan (Agent Dale Cooper), Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne), and Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer/Maddy Ferguson).
The second features James Marshall (James Hurley), Everett McGill (Big Ed Hurley), and Wendy Robie (Nadine Hurley), while the third reveals Madchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), and Peggy Lipton (Norma Jennings).
EW has also published a batch of behind-the-scenes images--check them out here.
The two-hour premiere debuts on Showtime on May 21 at 9 PM ET, and the following two episodes will be available online immediately afterwards. Lynch has described the show as "a feature film in 18 parts."
Titanfall 2's next big DLC pack drops next week, developer Respawn has announced. The add-on is called Colony Reborn--and it will be free to all players.
The biggest piece of content included is a new map--or rather, an old map. Colony originally appeared in the first Titanfall game, and will make its return on March 30 when the Reborn pack launches on all platforms. The DLC pack also includes a new gun, the R-101, which returns from the original Titanfall bearing an ACOG scope. The last of the free content is a new execution, called Curb Check. Take a look at the finisher in action above.
In addition, Colony Reborn adds new paid cosmetic content, including two new Titan skins, some new camos, and more. Find out more on the Titanfall blog.
To celebrate the launch of Colony Reborn, Respawn is running a free weekend for Titanfall 2 from March 30 through April 3. This will include access to the full suite of multiplayer modes, as well as the Gauntlet training mission and the first single player campaign level. Those two missions will remain free to play forever, too. Plus, you'll be able to grab double XP that whole weekend, so it might be the perfect time to dive back into the movement-based shooter.
Having announced in January that it will again host its own separate E3 event this year, Electronic Arts has shared a list of some of the games that will be at EA Play in June.
This year's slate of sports games can also be played at the event, including Madden NFL 18, FIFA 18, and--most notably, given the series' prolonged absence--NBA Live 18.
As with last year's event, EA Play is open to the public, though you will need tickets in order to attend. The Hollywood-based event takes place June 10-12, just prior to the start of E3. Tickets go on sale on April 20 at 9 AM PST.
Last year's EA Play marked a major departure for EA. The company abandoned its usual space on the E3 show floor and instead launched its own event that was open in part to the public (E3 is an industry- and media-only event, although this year's opens partially to the public). It still had its traditional press conference where it announced new games, but the rest of the time was primarily devoted to allowing hands-on time with its games.
Many For Honor fans are not happy at the game's microtransaction pricing--both in terms of price and sheer volume. Now, publisher Ubisoft has responded to the feedback, at the same time as finishing up a new, minor patch.
When Redditor bystander007 worked out that, to unlock all For Honor's added content--that's emotes, outfits, and a few other minor items--it would cost you around $732, some of the community felt aggrieved. That prompted game director Damien Kieken to respond in a recent Q&A session by saying, "We never had an intention for you to unlock everything in the game. For us that doesn't really make any sense.
"We applied RPG mechanics on top of a fighting game in a PvP environment," the developer continued. "Let's say in World of Warcraft, you would never try to unlock everything for all the characters. Same thing in any MOBA.
"We forecasted that most players would play one to three characters--and that's what we see today in our game. Most players focus on one character, one hero, and others go up to two or three heroes. All of the design is based around that. The cosmetic items ... for us, are endgame content."
Judging by the For Honor subreddit, it seems the fighting game's community is not completely happy with Ubisoft's response.
In unrelated news, Ubisoft has finished up a new For Honor update that focuses mostly on bug fixes and other minor improvements--take a look at the full patch notes below. It's unclear when exactly the patch will drop; all we know is that the Xbox One version "will be updated next week."

A new trailer for the DC team-up Justice League is due this weekend. In advance of that, a short teaser focusing on Aquaman has been released --check it out below:
An alleged poster has surfaced on Italian website Lega Network that reveals both a name (Destiny 2) and a release date (September 8). Another poster has also been shared on Imgur (pictured below) that references a beta that may be available first on PS4, an arrangement that wouldn't come as a surprise given the first Destiny's beta initially launched on PS3 and PS4.
Both Eurogamer and Kotaku have confirmed with sources that the posters are real, with the latter also suggesting Destiny 2 will be formally announced soon.
We got some sense of what to expect from Destiny 2 last month. As part of Activision's latest earnings briefing, the publisher provided some high-level details regarding the game.
"[W]e've got a big reveal planned and I'm going to let the game do most of the talking, but I'll give you some broad strokes," CEO Eric Hirshberg said in February. "I think that our team and our great partners at Bungie are doing a very nice job on two fronts. One, if you're one of the millions of players who's really invested in Destiny 1 and have put a lot of hours and passion into that game, you're going to love this game, and there's a lot more of what you love here.
"For anyone who either hasn't yet tried Destiny or hasn't played in a while, we think we've made a sequel that's going to have a lot for them to love, too. The cornerstone of that is a great cinematic story that's been a real focus with a great cast of memorable, relatable characters, coupled with some very nice ways to make the game more accessible to a casual player. Without losing anything that our core players love, we've made it more accessible to someone who just wants to have a great, more casual first-person action experience."
Grand Theft Auto V players are getting an extra week to earn twice the cash and reputation points when playing GTA Online. Rockstar Games has announced it will extend double GTA$ and RP on all 20 Cunning Stunts: Special Vehicle Circuit races until next March 29.

The time trial Coast to Coast is available now until March 26. The next time trial, Casino, goes from March 27 until April 2. Beating the par time comes with big GTA$ and RP rewards.
Earlier this week, GTA V released its latest update to GTA Online, which features the new tools for stunt race creation.
Meanwhile Rockstar is teasing new content on the way for the game's multiplayer, including classic GTA vehicles, new play modes, and a "particularly morbid muscle car."
Capcom Fighters Network, the service underpinning Street Fighter 5's online component, will see some changes as part of an effort to improve the overall experience.
The list of tweaks and changes were detailed on the Capcom Unity website, and will be available for PC players to beta test on March 28 at 1 PM PST/8 PM GMT until April 3 at 12 PM PST/8 PM GMT. The beta client will be available to Steam users and "completely free to play for both current and new players."
"Since this beta is to test our new online infrastructure, it will only feature Online Modes," Capcom explained. "The beta is entirely separate from the base PC client but players' current CFN username, rank, standing and other details will carry over to the beta client.
"For new players, they will be able to download the PC client for free and set up a new CFN profile to play for the duration of the test. All data recorded during the beta is for testing purposes only and once the beta has concluded, all replays, Fight Money earned, progress and player data will be deleted. To encourage players to participate in the beta test, all released characters, including Kolin will be unlocked for play."
Those that participate in the beta will also get an opportunity to trial some of the balance adjustments being made to Street Fighter 5 for its second season of content. Capcom has said once this beta period has finished, it will "make further adjustments to optimise the new CFN and will make its full release on both PS4 and PC shortly after."
Here's the list of changes coming to CFN, as detailed by Capcom.
Rage Quit Penalty System: Back in December, we implemented an update to the Rage Quit System which displayed a special Player Profile Icon for the worst offenders and the most honorable players. These icons are working correctly now and matchmaking logic now takes into account your online behavior and frequent disconnectors will be matched with similar opponents.
Ranked and Casual Match Loading Times: We understand many players were not happy with the load times when entering online matches. There will now be a shorter transition when going into a Ranked or Casual Match.
Battle Lounge Country Flags: Country flags should now properly load in Battle Lounges, allowing players to locate competition in their region.
Training Mode – User Settings Saved: Training Mode settings are now saved and will carry over to the next time the mode is accessed.
Matchmaking Improvements: It should now take less time to find an opponent in online matches. We've also added logic which avoids frequently being matched with the same opponent repeatedly.
Fighter Profile Stats: More detailed stats will be tracked and presented on your Fighter Profile.
Country/League Based Rankings: Players will now be able to filter leaderboards based on Country or League.
Friend Management System: In addition to adding a player to your Favorites, you can now add Friends and follow them on CFN. You can now also Blacklist players.
Interactive Timeline: On the CFN home menu, a live feed of your Friends' activities is presented on an interactive Timeline. Using the Timeline, you can immediately add a recent match to your Replay List, view a Fighter Profile, manage your Friends, and adjust Timeline display settings.
In-Game Announcer Voice: The in-game announcer will give you stats on both you and your opponent using data pulled from the server.
"We understand that Street Fighter 5's server performance has been a less than optimal experience for many of our players," reads a statement posted alongside the CFN changes announcement. "The improved CFN experience is the result of rebuilding it from the ground up to address the most pressing issues that will ultimately result in a better online experience.
"The new CFN server updates mark a new beginning for playing SF5 online and we encourage our players to participate in the PC Beta Test to see what improvements we have in store."
The last major content release for Street Fighter 5 was the introduction of Kolin, a fighter that uses the power of ice to summon "deadly icicles" and "frigid blasts." She also uses the Russian martial art of Systema, which is all about using an opponent's momentum against them. You can see more of Kolin here.
With April drawing near, Microsoft has announced the month's slate of free Games With Gold titles.
On Xbox One, the month starts out with Ryse: Son of Rome, the Crytek-developed game that was available at the system's launch. On April 16, it'll be joined by The Walking Dead: Season Two; Season One was previously offered as a free to Xbox Live Gold members back in October 2015.
For those on Xbox 360, the first half of April offers up Darksiders. It's then followed by Assassin's Creed: Revelations for the second half of the month. Both games are also playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility.
It's not too late to claim some of March's free games, which you can read more about here. Evolve, one of the two Xbox One games for the month, will be available until April 15.
The full schedule for April's Games With Gold availability follows below.
The official website for the Total War series is now home to a countdown clock, apparently teasing a reveal of a new game in the series.
If you head over to the site now, it'll redirect you to a countdown slated to end next Friday, March 31. The background features artwork depicting a misty scene of trees and bushes with a larger, pyramid-like structure in the distance.
However, there's speculation (including on places like the Total War subreddit) that this scene depicts Warhammer's Lustria, and that the countdown is for a Total War: Warhammer sequel. The Creative Assembly has plans for a trilogy of Warhammer games, and a recent developer update provided some insight into where things stand on that front.
"Excitement continues to build amongst the development team as the second part of the trilogy comes together, particularly as the distinctive races take shape and their playstyles solidify in campaign and battle," the studio said last week. "We're equally excited at the prospect of sharing details about the game's gigantic scale and content with our community and wider fanbase, as those plans come together in parallel."
Regarding the new historical game, it said, "Our next major historical release is now in full production with the game design locked and asset creation fully underway. The game retains the same strong focus on character design that infused previous major releases, with the key personalities of the period in particular being an early priority for us now; as such there are some vibrant and striking renders plastered around the studio, with eye-catching combat animations garnering some serious attention too."
Other projects in the works include additional Total War: Warhammer content and updates, continued development on Total War: Arena, and a separate project from a new comprised of members of the Rome II and Attila teams.
We'll have more on the new Total War games as it's announced.
Spooky first-person shooter Prey has received a new video that showcases the extent to which players can forge their own path--from which characters to save to which powers to acquire to which gender you want the main character to be.
The trailer, which you can watch above, also shows off a creepy enemy called the Nightmare. The more you invest in alien powers, the more this scary creature will stalk you, explains developer Arkane Studios.
Also discussed is a major character called Alex Yu, the playable character's brother and boss of the space station the player finds themself on. Your relationship with Alex can affect the environment around you, says Arkane.
The video, which you can watch below, also showcases the game's challenge mode and some of the stealth and sniping mechanics seen in the game. Take a look for yourself:
Challenge mode is a tougher variant on standard Side Op missions. You might need to take over a base, or infiltrate a heavily defended command room, as in the video.
An unrelated franchise from developer Rebellion Developments called Sniper Elite recently saw its latest release. Sniper Elite 4, which launched in February, fared well in our review: critic Richard Wakeling said the series is finally "living up to its long-standing potential." Read more in our full Sniper Elite 4 review.
A stunning new poster for the upcoming horror sci-fi sequel Alien: Covenant has been released. The poster is very reminiscent of the work of legendary artist HR Giger, the original designer of the franchise's iconic creature. Check it out below:
Scott suggested that Awakening might actually sit chronologically between 2012's Prometheus and Covenant. "There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien," he said. "It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant. There will be more after this. If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more."
This follows Scott's earlier comments that he was keen to get going on the next movie. "You've got to assume, to a certain extent, success [for Alien: Covenant], and from that you'd better be ready," he said. "You don't want a two-year gap. So I'll be ready to go again next year."
Alien: Covenant arrives in theaters on May 19 in the US and May 12 in the UK.
Neither Pokemon Go developer Niantic nor publisher The Pokemon Company have mentioned that shiny versions of their popular critters would be coming to the game soon, despite both a recent patch and new Water-type event. However, since the only shiny Pokemon sighted so far have been this Water-type pairing, it may be that these rare versions are tied into that event. It remains to be seen whether yellow Magikarp and red Gyarados will be available once the events ends on March 29, and also whether more shiny critters will become available.
Shiny Pokemon were first introduced in Pokemon Gold and Silver. Red Gyarados played a major part in those games, and it's catchable for every player at the Lake of Rage. Most shiny Pokemon are extremely rare in the mainline series, however: the probability of a random creature being shiny is around 1 in 8000.
In Pokemon Go, it's apparently not made clear on the game's overworld whether a Pokemon is shiny--you'll only discover its color once you enter battle. Be warned, however: one user reported sighting a shiny Magikarp, only for it to be revealed as a regular pink Ditto. Heartbreaking.
In addition to shiny variants, fans have been requesting legendary Pokemon to be introduced for some time now. Niantic has responded by saying legendaries will be available to catch by the end of the year, though how rare they'll be remains to be seen.
Kids undergoing treatment at Seattle Children's Hospital have new reason to smile: Gamers Outreach has donated 10 next-generation gaming kiosks with the help of Xbox.
Each medical-grade 'GO Kart' (Gamers Outreach Kart) includes a Xbox One console, monitor, controllers, and several games. The hospital says the kiosks go a long way in providing a distraction for the kids, helping them feel "normal" and giving them a fun, social environment.
The kiosks also come with a mechanical lift so they can be lowered and played from a child's bedside.
"It's amazing to see this project come to life after a year of planning," said Zach Wigal, founder of Gamers Outreach.
"With our next generation of GO Karts, we're able to deliver these kiosks more efficiently, and ultimately have a much greater impact in the lives of the kids and families going through hospitalization," he said.
So far, Gamers Outreach (with donations from the Xbox community) has provided 36 'GO Karts' to 19 hospitals in the US. Wigal says the charity's goal is to put a gaming kiosk in every children's hospital across the country.
Next month, Gamers Outreach will hold its annual fundraiser Gamers For Giving. The two-day LAN party will bring thousands of players and supporters to Michigan, with the aim of raising $200,000 to get more 'GO Karts' into hospitals by the end of the year.

After it was confirmed last week that Sony is making a Spider-Man spinoff focused on Venom, it's now been reported that another spinoff, centered around Silver Sable and Black Cat, is in the works.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thor: Ragnarok writer Chris Yost is working on the script. He's reportedly expanding on an earlier version penned by Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy.
"The studio is hoping to go to directors soon with an eye on a fall start date," THR said.
The female characters Silver Sable and Black Cat have been friends and enemies of Spider-Man over the years. You can learn more about them on GameSpot sister site Comic Vine's character pages: Silver Sable, Black Cat.
There is no word yet on a title for the film or a release date. We'll report back with more details as they become available.
The next Spider-Man movie is this summer's Spider-Man: Homecoming, which stars Tom Holland as the web-slinger. There is already a sequel in the works.
After a few teasers, the first full-length trailer for Fargo Season 3 has arrived--and it's pretty great.
Posted on Twitter, the video focuses on the two characters that actor Ewan McGregor plays. As you can see, the brothers Ray and Emmit are two very different people. Something bad is going to happen, as what begins as sibling rivalry escalates to murder, according to an official description for Season 3 posted by Deadline. It also appears that Mary Elizabeth Winstead's character will play a central role.
Other new cast members for Fargo Season 3 include David Thewlis (Harry Potter series), Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man), Carrie Coon (Gone Girl), and comedian Jim Gaffigan.
Production on Fargo Season 3 took place in Calgary. The show was created by Noah Hawley (Bones, Legion); Joel and Ethan Coen, the directors of Fargo the movie, are executive producers.
Rogue One already closes out by setting up the beginning of Star Wars: A New Hope, but one person has gone through the trouble of more directly connecting the two.
The video below from Vimeo user Barre Fong seamlessly blends about nine minutes of the two movies into one extended sequence. This is the second version of the video, featuring a modified music mix and an added sound effect for leaving hyperspace.
Update: The Dropshot update is out now. You can see the full patch notes here.
Original story: Psyonix's soccer-with-cars game Rocket League grows today with the launch of a new update that adds the cool-looking Dropshot mode that basically reinvents the game. Specifically, the free update lands at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET / 10 PM GMT, Psyonix said on Twitter.
Dropshot sounds like craziest of the bunch so far, at least in terms of setup. As we reported when the mode was announced earlier this month, matches take place in a hexagonal arena that's divided down the middle and overlaid with a grid of smaller hexagons. There are no fixed goals or scoring areas; instead, players must break through the floor on their opponents' half of the field by knocking the ball downward.
Rocket League's new update today also adds Easter-themed items, including an Easter Egg Antenna, Easter Basket Topper, and the Bunny Ears Topper. These items will be distributed randomly as post-game drops for all online playlists, but only until April 17.
Psyonix also confirmed that the game's third competitive season ends today at 2:30 PM PT / 5:30 PM ET / 9:30 PM GMT, immediately preceding the launch of the update.
1996's Trainspotting gave audiences a new way to look at life, movies, and music. Edgy and groundbreaking, the film gave audiences a raw look at the drug scene in Edinburgh and the lengths addicts go to escape its pitfalls. The sequel centers on the four main characters, 20 years later. This time around, rather than focus on the group's drug pursuits, the emphasis is on rebuilding friendships, dealing with betrayal, and trying to figure out the meaning of life. With a less chaotic feel than the first film, T2 dives deeper into its characters and their world--and gives a compelling look at how both have changed in two decades.
Looking at the characters later in life doesn't mean the movie takes a more somber, responsible direction, however. The energy from the first film is present as Renton (Ewan McGregor) returns to Edinburgh after a 20 year departure and can't help but fall into old habits with Sick Boy (Johnny Lee Miller). While trying to pull off another get-rich-quick scheme, the two are reminded why they were best friends. They recruit Spud (Ewan Bremner) who is also dealing with picking up the pieces of a failed marriage. Meanwhile, the threat of Begbie (Robert Carlyle) looms in the background as his hunger for revenge puts everything at risk and adds tension once he discovers Renton has returned to Edinburgh.
Renton's return is sparked by the guilt he's felt over betraying his friends in the first film. Trying to make amends, we see him and the others question their own life choices along with their need to hang on to the past. It starts out feeling like the nostalgia is forced on the viewer, but you grow to appreciate it as the story continues, while the audience sees how the past impacts the present. This is carried out with flashes to their childhood and a clever use of scenes from the first that illustrate some of the parallels in the past and present.
Even though the movie heavily builds on the events from the past, it's still suitable for new viewers or those who haven't watched the original in some time. Seeing what the characters have been up to over the last two decades at the very beginning makes the movie accessible to everyone. The actors seamlessly slide back into their roles, and a strong semblance of the familiar characters remains regardless of other breakout roles we may associate the actors with. While there's the expectation that they've all completely matured as they've entered middle age, this isn't completely the case. They're forced to figure out a way to support themselves and find their purpose--and this is part of the journey we witness as we catch up with them.
A big example of the maturation and passing of time is Renton's "choose life" monologue. The original speech brought up big life decisions and the fact that the character was more concerned with taking heroin than looking ahead. Twenty years later it returns and takes a different direction. Renton touches on things like our obsession with social media and reality TV. He also makes a point of shifting addiction toward something constructive and trying to choose a more positive future. This might be a little too tongue-in-cheek, but it's a powerful delivery.
While the characters may have gone through some drastic changes in their 20-year absence, one familiar element that embodied the original film is the use of music. This ties into the nostalgia factor when Renton revisits his childhood bedroom and struggles with playing Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life" on his record player. It's a symbolic moment as it further illustrates how he's wrestling with accepting actions from the past and his place in the present. Another song heavily associated with the first film, Underworld's "Born Slippy" is used. Unfortunately the inclusion feels a little more forced. Music is used throughout but isn't as impactful as the original soundtrack.
T2 may be a sequel, but it's an entirely different, captivating film that makes you care about these characters. The first movie had a very in-your-face feel, with an abundance of visual energy. The sequel offers more substance by fleshing out the characters further. You get pulled into the story, and the actors' charm keeps you invested. T2 Trainspotting is a good tribute to the original by exploring new ground rather than rehash what we've already seen. It may not be as innovative as the first movie, but it's a thrill to see the characters once again in a sequel worthy of the critically acclaimed original.
A day ahead of its expected release on Android devices, Super Mario Run is out now.
Originally released in December for iOS devices, Nintendo finally announced an Android release date of March 23 last week. It's instead now available for download from Google Play, at least in the US.
This is version 2.0.0 of the game, which is also now out on iOS. It adds new Yoshi colors, allows more of the game to be played for free, and introduces new buildings, among other things.
Super Mario Run is, in Nintendo's parlance, a free-to-start game. You're able to play a limited selection of content for free before being asked to fork over $10, which unlocks the full game. As of December, Nintendo had no plans to release additional paid content.
Beyond that $10 price, there are no microtransactions, as is the case with Nintendo's other mobile game, Fire Emblem Heroes, which employs a more traditional free-to-play model.
If you're on Android, you'll need to be running at least version 4.2 to play Super Mario Run. For an idea of what to expect, check out GameSpot's review.
Ubisoft has revealed that it is working on an Assassin's Creed TV series. Assassin's Creed head of content Aymar Azaizia confirmed this during a Reddit AMA this week, though he declined to share any specifics about it.
"We will take our time to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of," he said.
An Assassin's Creed TV show has yet to be formally announced. Last year, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the company was in talks with Netflix for a series, but he did not say which Ubisoft property might be spun into a show. It's possible Assassin's Creed--one of Ubisoft's biggest and most recognizable brands--is the franchise in question.
The TV show would presumably be produced by Ubisoft's film and TV division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures. The unit produced the Rabbids Invasion TV show for Nickelodeon, as well as the Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender that came out in December.
Also during the AMA, Azaizia was questioned about the rumored new Assassin's Creed game, Assassin's Creed: Empire. When asked if could say "Empire" just once, Azaizia replied, "lol." He was also asked if this image making the rounds is in fact from the next Assassin's Creed game. He said, "Not AC :)"
Gran Turismo Sport is only available in a closed beta right now, but new high-resolution gameplay footage released on YouTube is taking all fans deep into the action.
The closed beta began on March 17 and was only open to select PSN users in the US. It's still unclear when the game will be released. In August 2016, developer Polyphony Digital said the team needs "more time to perfect GT Sport" and that the game would launch sometime in 2017.
Gran Turismo Sport promises to be the most ambitious game in the racing series, featuring two-year-long championships that players will be able to race in. Those will end with a ceremony where winners celebrate alongside real-world racing champions. The game will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 and is being developed to support PlayStation VR.
Until now, Nintendo had been largely quiet on the subject, offering no comment on the matter when contacted by GameSpot and numerous other outlets. Outside of a support site article, its lone statement before today claimed there were "no widespread technical problems" with Switch.
Today, Nintendo issued a new statement that attributes the problems that some have experienced to a "manufacturing variation" that has since been resolved.
"There is no design issue with the Joy-Con controllers, and no widespread proactive repair or replacement effort is underway," Nintendo said in a statement received by GameSpot. "A manufacturing variation has resulted in wireless interference with a small number of the left Joy-Con. Moving forward this will not be an issue, as the manufacturing variation has been addressed and corrected at the factory level.
"We have determined a simple fix can be made to any affected Joy-Con to improve connectivity.
"There are other reasons consumers may be experiencing wireless interference. We are asking consumers to contact our customer support team so we can help them determine if a repair is necessary. If it is, consumers can send their controller directly to Nintendo for the adjustment, free of charge, with an anticipated quick return of less than a week. Repair timing may vary by region. For help with any hardware or software questions, please visit http://support.nintendo.com."
This comes after CNET reported that it successfully had a Joy-Con repaired by Nintendo and that a new Joy-Con purchased from Amazon didn't appear to suffer from the issue. Opening up the repaired Joy-Con revealed a newly installed piece of foam that seemingly shields the internal antenna.
