When you enter Hateno village, you can find a group of construction workers attempting to tear down a house near the Myahm Agana Shrine. If you talk to their flamboyant head foreman Bolson, he asks you if you want to purchase the house. Accept his offer to strike a deal to acquire the house for a sum of 3,000 Rupees and 30 bundles of wood. The Benefits Of Owning A House
While it seems unnecessary at first, owning a house actually offers you two major benefits: a bed you can sleep in at any time that restores your entire health bar for free; and a series of weapon mounts that you can use to store weapons, bows, and shields. The Upgrades
After you've bought the house, Bolson can furnish it with various upgrades. For example, you can ask him to install a door or to make a bed you can use to rest overnight. Each upgrade costs you 100 Rupees. After you've purchased every upgrade, Bolson offers to furnish the rest of your house for free with additional furniture and knick knacks. Gear Displays: Gear displays allow you to store your weapons in your house, which is useful for lightening the load of rare/quest specific equipment that you don't always need. There are three mount types you can get, and you can purchase three of each. The mount types are as follows: - Weapon Mount
- Bow Mount
- Shield Mount
Installations: Installations encompass small but essential renovations to round out your humble abode. The three available installation options are as follows: Exterior: Exterior punishments decorate the front yard of your house. The two available exterior options are as follows: - A sign with your name
- Flowers
- Trees
What To Do After You've Renovated Your House
A new side quest called "From The Ground Up" opens up after you've purchased the house. Talk to Bolson and Hudson; and the side quest begins once Hudson leaves. You can find him again on the island in the middle of Lake Akkala, which is located in the northwest area of the Akkala region. He asks you to find more wood and to recruit people to build his new settlement: Tarrey Town. Wood Cutting Tips
You're going to need a lot of wood to complete "From The Ground Up." One of the best wood farming techniques is traveling to the Rito Stable and cutting down the many trees in the surrounding area. Alternatively, the path leading to the Zora's Domain is also packed with trees to chop down. But make sure to use the Woodcutter's Axe when you do, as it increases the number of wood bundles you can get. Recruit 1: Greyson the Goron Miner
First, gather 10 bundles of wood to give to Hudson. After you deliver them, he asks you to recruit a strong Goron. Warp to Eldin region, and speak to Greyson, who sits by the cooking pot at night in the Southern Mine. After you recruit him, travel back to Tarrey Island to speak to Hudson again. Where's Greyson on The Map? Recruit 2: Rhondson The Gerudo Tailor
The second time around Hudson asks for 20 more bundles of wood. Deliver them, and he'll ask you to find a tailor. Head to Kara Kara Bazaar and speak to Rhondson, the Gerudo under the canopy outside the inn. Where's Rhondson On The Map? Recruit 3: Fyson The Rito Merchant
Hudson needs 30 bundles of wood to trigger his next request: a Rito merchant. Warp to Rito village and speak to Fyson, the Rito sitting near the goddess statue. Where's Fyson On The Map? Recruit 4: Kapson The Zoran Priest
Finally, give Hudson 50 more bundles of wood. He then asks you to find a person to officiate a wedding. Warp to Zora's Domain and talk to Kapson, who is located on the floor above the shrine. Where's Kapson On The Map? Completing The Quest
When you warp back to speak to Hudson, he asks you to invite guest for the wedding. Go back to Hateno Village and invite both Bolson and Karson to the wedding. Once you've asked them, go back to Tarrey Town and watch the wedding. Talk to Hudson again to receive a reward of three diamonds. Added Perk: Grante the Merchant
After you've completed the quest, a traveler by the name of Grante visits the finished town. If you talk to him, he offers to sell you pieces of rare, high level gear--granted only if you've already discovered them. For example, if you've found one piece of Barbarian Armor, you can visit Grante and buy the remaining two pieces from him. Also, if you've managed to break any of your high-leveled weapons, such as the Hylian Shield, you can buy it back from him as well. His rates are expensive, so be sure to farm for some rupees in advance. For tips on how to acquire more rupees, check out our in-depth money making guide.
