During the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 reveal stream, Activision and Treyarch revealed that the PC version will live on Blizzard's Battle.net network. In addition to the franchise making its Battle.net debut, Black Ops 4 is exclusive to Blizzard's ecosystem for PC players; you won't be seeing the game on Steam.
All of Battle.net's social features will be integrated into Black Ops 4, such as friends lists, communication tools, seeing what others are playing on the platform, and party functions. This also means players will be able to communicate across games whether they're playing Overwatch or Black Ops 4, or any game for that matter. On top of living on Battle.net, Black Ops 4 is said to be specifically optimized for PC with options to run 4K resolution, 21:9 ultra widescreen resolutions, HDR, and an uncapped framerate. The game will be running on dedicated servers for online play as well.
The news doesn't come as too much of a surprise considering that Activision is the Call of Duty franchise publisher and the parent company to Blizzard, which is a prominent figure in the PC gaming landscape with the robust Battle.net ecosystem. Blizzard VP Jeff Kaplan stated that his team consulted with Treyarch on a number of features when building Overwatch, and was featured in the reveal video to outline the PC version of Black Ops 4. This is the second game not developed by Blizzard to make it onto Battle.net, the first being Destiny 2 from Bungie.
As promised, Activision unveiled a ton of details about this year's Call of Duty game during its big Black Ops 4 Community Reveal Event. One of the more surprising things we learned about the title, however, is that it won't feature a traditional single-player campaign, as previous installments in the series did.
In lieu of a single-player campaign, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will feature an assortment of solo missions that revolve around each of the game's Specialist characters. These will still contain the spectacular set-piece moments the series is known for, and they'll reveal each character's backstory and other details as players work their way through them.
The solo missions are set between the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3. A handful of previous Specialists return in this installment, including Ruin, Firebreak, and Seraph, and Treyarch says they've been reimagined this time around. There are also a number of new Specialists in the game; so far, we've seen ones named Recon, Crash, and Torque.
During today's stream, Activision also revealed Blackout, a new battle royale mode for Black Ops 4. Blackout features elements from the entire Black Ops series, including previous weapons, items, and characters such as Hudson, Reznov, and Mason. Players will also be able to pilot land, air, and sea vehicles in the mode as they battle to be the last player standing.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12. Like previous Black Ops games, it is being developed by Treyarch. This time around, the title won't feature thrust jumping or wallrunning, but it will once again have a Zombies mode. You can take a look at the box art for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 here.
After weeks of teases and speculation, Activision finally pulled back the curtain on this year's anticipated Call of Duty game, Black Ops 4. Like previous entries, Black Ops 4 will come with a variety of different game modes, including the ever-popular Zombies, but this year's installment will also feature its own take on the battle royale genre.
Dubbed Blackout, the new mode pits players against each other in a fight to be the last one standing, just as in Fortnite and PUBG. Where Blackout differs from other battle royale games is that it draws heavily on previous Black Ops titles. Developer Treyarch says it wanted to create a battle royale mode "the Black Ops way," and to that end, it has incorporated elements from the entire series into the mode.
According to Treyarch, the map in Blackout is the biggest one the developer has ever created. Some of its locations are old maps taken directly from past entries, and players can use weapons and items from every previous Black Ops game, including the RC car. The map also features land, air, and sea vehicles, and players can play as Hudson, Reznov, Mason, and other characters from the series.
Activision announced a ton of new details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 during today's special reveal event. Along with Blackout, the publisher talked a lot about the new Zombies campaign, which is set across three unique maps and places a stronger emphasis on mystery. Activision also revealed that Black Ops 4 won't have a traditional single-player campaign; rather, the game will feature solo missions that focus on each of its Specialist characters.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12--nearly a month earlier than Call of Duty games typically launch. The PC version will be available exclusively via Blizzard's Battle.net service. Activision will hold a beta for Black Ops 4 ahead of its launch later this year, although exact details on that will be announced at a later date.
By Anonymous on May 17, 2018 11:25 pm Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won't have a traditional single-player mode, but will have multiplayer, zombies, and a battle royale mode when it comes to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in October.
Activision has finally opened the floodgates and revealed a torrent of information about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. In addition to all-new Specialists and multiplayer options, this year's installment of the popular shooter franchise will also come with a Zombies story mode.
In Zombies, four characters travel through time to battle an evil cult, while killing hordes of the undead along the way. It's set across three unique missions, each of which has its own map: The Nine, Voyage of Despair, and Blood of the Dead.
The Nine takes place in a Roman battle arena, where players must fend off zombies and special undead enemies using swords, shields, axes, and spears. Voyage of Despair takes place on the ill-fated Titanic that's teeming with zombies. Blood of the Dead is something of a throwback mission, with references to classic maps from previous Black Ops games. The mode also contains Zombie Rush, which Activision says is a simplified version of a traditional zombie mode.
In an effort to keep the game feeling fresh, Zombies will feature seasonal events called Callings. Additionally, it will have daily, monthly, and yearly events. It will also have various difficulty levels, complete with easy and hard challenges.
If you don't have buddies online to team up with, you'll be able to play alongside bots instead. The mode will also have over 100 different custom mutations you can add to the game to alter zombie and player skills. Anyone can also create custom competitions that can be shared online for other players to try.
Activision announced a ton of other details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 during today's special reveal event. Along with Zombies, the publisher detailed Blackout, the new battle royale mode, which will feature content from all previous Black Ops games. Activision also revealed that Black Ops 4 won't have a traditional single-player campaign; rather, the game will feature solo missions that focus on each of its Specialist characters.

Rainbow Six Siege continues to expand and evolve, and with the Operation Para Bellum DLC on the way, the game is gearing up to add two new Operators. Publisher Ubisoft has now, finally, revealed the second of those two characters: Maestro.
A blog post on the official Rainbow Six website has lifted the lid on the new Defender, whose "expertise lies in blocking access to key locations." According to the post, "His blunt style allows him to see through smoke and mirrors, for which he has no patience." Ubisoft goes on to state that Maestro shines when he's joined by Alibi, the other new Italian defensive Operator.
Maestro's unique skill or gadget has not yet been revealed. Previous rumors had suggested he will carry bulletproof cameras, but that was later revealed to be coming to a number of Operators as part of a future update. Ubisoft is set to reveal more details about the upcoming season during the Rainbow Six Siege Pro League Finals on May 19-20.
Along with two new Defenders, Operation Para Bellum will introduce a Pick & Ban system, which gives players the ability to counter opponents by banning certain Operators from play. It also introduces a new map called Villa and makes a number of balance tweaks to existing Operators, particularly Echo, who will receive a second Yokai drone and other buffs. You'll be able to stream the Pro League Finals on Rainbow Six Siege's Twitch channel.
As is standard with modern comic book movies, Deadpool 2 includes a bonus scene during the credits as a special treat for fans. According to the writers of the film, though, it's not the scene originally shot for the end of the movie. However, the initial plan just didn't sit well with audiences when tested.
According to Rhett Reese, one of the movie's writers, the Merc with a Mouth was going to use Cable's time travel abilities in one very interesting way. "Deadpool goes back and kills baby Hitler at the very end. That's what was supposed to happen," he tells UpRoxx. "We shot it and we put it in front of an audience. He's got the crib and he's standing in the German nursery and he's leaning over the crib to do it and there was kind of this, 'ohhhhh.' And we thought we don't want to leave the crowd on an 'ohhhhh.' So it ended up coming out."
He continues, "Our last moment was Deadpool saying 'Maximum effort!' as he goes in to throttle the baby. It does make you squeamish." Cross your fingers that this particular makes it onto the home release of the film, given that it does exist out there somewhere.
While that might not have connected with audiences who saw early cuts of the film, it's not even the strangest version of the scene. Paul Wernick, who co-wrote Deadpool 2 with Reese, remembers it playing out differently in one version of the script. "There's even a draft of that scene where we back it up even more where he's standing over baby Hitler and says, 'God, that is a toughie.' He finds a Sharpie and draws a mustache on the baby--a little baby mustache--and says 'Maximum effort!'"
It's hard to blame the movie's creative team for not letting moments like these be the final impression on audiences. Still, it would be interesting to see what the reaction would have been, had the movie actually ended with Deadpool killing baby Hitler.
Funnily enough, that wasn't the only proposed post-credits scene that didn't end up making it into the movie. As Reese and Mernick reveal, there was also a potential scene that would have seen Chris Evans reprise his Fantastic Four role.
"There were different codas kicked around. There were more X-Force interviews that were talked about. One was Chris Evans as Human Torch," Wernick admits. As Reese explains, though, the idea never got far enough to pitch it to Evans. "Someone had the idea we actually did and we thought that was better. But we definitely had a lot more X-Force interviews with bizarre, random people coming in to interview," he says.
Looking further ahead, Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has discussed some of the characters he'd like to see starring alongside the Merc with a Mouth in the future. Speaking to Comicbook.com, Liefeld indicated he wants to see the movies go big with cameos.
"Let's get the entire Six Pack who Cable used to run with," he said. "Let's get Bridge, let's get Hammer, let's get Grizzly. No, no, no, especially if there's more Cable we can go in that direction. I did a graphic novel last year that introduced a new nemesis for Deadpool. I was thinking smaller budget. Now, the budgets are insane. There is so much great stuff yet to come."
Given that Josh Brolin appears in both Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 as different characters, it would have been exciting for Evans, who plays Captain America, to do the same. Either way, the final version of Deadpool 2 does include a mid-credits scene, so make sure you don't leave early.
It was 2013 when Sylvester Stallone and his Expendables co-star Arnold Schwarzenegger teamed up to break out of a seemingly escape-proof prison in the movie Escape Plan. How do you up the ante? According to the trailer for Escape Plan 2: Hades, it's actually really simple.
First, instead of Schwarzenegger, you team Stallone with Avengers: Infinity War star Dave Bautista. Next, you have to find an even crazier prison--which is essentially scumbag Fight Club--and break into it so you can break someone else out of it. Third, sprinkle in a little bit of Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and you're ready to go.
Honestly, the trailer for Escape Plan 2 looks utterly ridiculous in the very best ways, and it's hard to not be excited about something this over-the-top. Given that most of Bautista's action fare, thus far, has found him painted green and fighting aliens, it's fun to see him like this, just getting to play action hero next to someone like Stallone.
Now comes the bad news. You won't get the chance to watch this one in theaters. This particular movie is being released direct-to-video, so, unfortunately, you'll only get to watch it on-demand or if you pick it up on DVD. That is, unless, everyone who reads this buys a copy, and it becomes a global phenomenon that demands a theatrical release. So get busy watching when Escape Plan 2: Hades arrives on June 29.
Gotham isn't over yet, as Fox has renewed the series for a fifth and final season. However, the show's producers are looking to the future, and it is looking decidedly Batman. Bruce Heller and Danny Cannon have received a straight-to-series order on yet another prequel to the Dark Knight's story--and it won't be connected to Gotham at all.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Epix has ordered 10 episodes of Pennyworth, exploring the history of Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth before he came to Gotham City. The show will follow Alfred's life in London in the 1960s after his time as a soldier in the British SAS, as he begins working with Bruce's father, Thomas Wayne.
Heller will write the pilot script and serve as showrunner on the new series, with Cannon joining as executive producer and director of the first episode--just as he did with Gotham. Still, it's important to note once again that this is not set in the same continuity as Gotham, but rather carve its own path in retelling this piece of the Batman mythos.
That means Sean Pertwee will not be reprising his Gotham role as Alfred in Pennyworth. However, an actor has not yet been cast in the role.
Interestingly, this isn't the only new DC Comics series Cannon's name is attached to. It was announced in January that he and Gotham executive producer John Stephens were developing Metropolis--a Superman prequel that follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor--for DC Universe, the upcoming streaming network. As Deadline reports, that project is currently being redeveloped, while a release date has not been revealed.
We're less than an hour away from the public unveiling of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The world will get its first look at this year's highly anticipated Call of Duty game during Activision's special Black Ops 4 Community Reveal Event, which kicks off today at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6PM BST (3 AM AET on May 18).
The event will be broadcast on both the official Call of Duty Twitch channel and website. For your convenience, we're also streaming the presentation on GameSpot, so you can tune in right here and watch along as Activision pulls back the curtain on this year's Call of Duty game.
Prior to the presentation, we'll be streaming the previous Black Ops title, Black Ops 3, and sharing our thoughts on what we can expect from the reveal event. Our Black Ops 3 stream kicks off at 9:30 AM PT / 12:30 PM ET and runs until Activision's presentation begins.
Outside of a few teases, Activision hasn't revealed many solid details about Black Ops 4. Like previous Black Ops titles, it is being developed by Treyarch, and it has been heavily teased that it will have a Zombies mode, although we know little about what that will entail.
We also know that Black Ops 4 is releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12--nearly a full month earlier than the November release slot that Call of Duty games typically occupy. We'll learn a whole lot more about the game soon, however, so stay tuned to GameSpot for our complete coverage on the Black Ops 4 reveal event.
The huge success of 2015's Jurassic World proved that the series of dinosaur thrillers still had plenty of fans, and inevitably, a sequel follows this summer. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters on June 22, and following the recent trailer, we have a new TV spot.
While some of the footage in the promo has appeared previously, there are some new shots in there. In particular, there's a slightly longer version of the scene featuring the huge aquatic Mosasaurus about to snack on some surfers, which looks like it could be one of the most incredible shots in the series to date. Check it out below:
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Jeff Goldblum, and BD Wong. It's directed by Spanish filmmaker JA Bayona, and co-written by Colin Trevorrow, who helmed the first movie.
In a recent interview with Walmart Gamecenter, Pratt spoke about how important the relationship between his character Owen and the Velociraptor Blue was to the movie. "Most of the relationships between man and beast in this franchise have been man marveling at the spectacle of this giant creature, or man running in fear and hiding and trying not to get eaten," he said. "So it's either fear or wonder, while the relationship between Owen and Blue is a different kind of relationship.
"It's more of a parent-to-child or master-to-subject type of relationship. He feels a lot of love for her. The best movies are about relationships, and this is a really pivotal and instrumental one in the story. She's very important, not only as a really cool dinosaur that we get to see fighting and moving around and living the way we assume a dinosaur like that would have looked."
Even though Fallen Kingdom doesn't hit theaters until June 22, the release date for the third movie has already been announced. In February, it was confirmed that it will arrive on June 11, 2021. It has also been announced that Trevorrow will return to direct it. This is Trevorrow's first movie since he was fired from Star Wars Episode IX last year.
Every year, The CW presents an Arrow-verse crossover, it gets tougher to keep track of, and 2018 will be no different. When Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow return in the fall and start building toward their annual four-show event, a new face and city will enter the fold.
For the first time ever, Batwoman will participate in the crossover and, with her, comes a new setting. "We are adding the city of Gotham into the Arrow-verse," CW president Mark Pedowitz announced at the network's upfront presentation to advertisers, according to TVLine. It's about time.
Arrow star Stephen Amell was on-hand to help announce the big news and said Batwoman will be fighting alongside The CW's stable of superheroes against the crossover's currently-unknown villain. This development marks a major shift in the Arrow-verse, which has always been careful to tread lightly around Batman and Gotham City.
While there have been throwaway lines alluding to Batman's public identity of Bruce Wayne and certain villains from the Dark Knight's rogues gallery have been featured on the shows--Ra's al Ghul, for instance--including the city and one of its heroes in such a major role is very different. It's also incredibly exciting, though. Even Superman has appeared in this universe, so keeping the world of Batman behind a lock and key always felt like something massive was missing.
The move comes at a very interesting time, though. Fox has announced a fifth and final season of Gotham, which essentially tells the origin story of Batman and his most-feared villains, while Epix has ordered a 10-episode series about the early life of Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's butler, set in London.
No casting has been announced for Batwoman or anyone else in the annual crossover yet. Additionally, it looks like Black Lightning--another DC Comics TV show on The CW--remains outside of the Arrow-verse and, thus, not included in the event. That could always change, though. After all, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow are no strangers to the multiverse. Still, even without Black Lightning, it's hard not to get excited about Gotham City entering this particular TV universe and what that could mean for other characters down the road.
Do you feel like exploring an irradiated Bostonian wasteland? Do you have an Xbox One? If you answered yes to those questions, you're in luck--Fallout 4 is free to play this weekend on Xbox One. You can download the free version of Fallout 4 here and play it between now and Monday, May 21.
If you find yourself enjoying your time in the game and want to continue playing after the free weekend is over, you can buy it--and all DLC--at a discount. The game itself is on sale for $15 / £10 / $20 AU on the Xbox Store, or you can get a physical copy of the Game of the Year Edition, which contains the game and all six expansions, for $30.
Alternately, Amazon U.S. is selling digital codes of Fallout 4 for Xbox One for $10 (£9 in the U.K.). Stock tends to run out fast at the online retailer, so grab it while it's available. Should you purchase the full game, any progress you make in the free trial will carry over.
Free play weekends are all well and good, but the question remains: is Fallout 4 any good? In a word, yes.
From GameSpot's 9/10 Fallout 4 review: "In the grand scheme of things, Fallout 4's minor issues pale in comparison to its successes. When you put the controller down, you think about the friend you betrayed to benefit another, the shifting tide of an incredible battle, or the moment you opened a drawer and found someone's discarded effects, making you wonder how they felt before the bombs fell. In moments like these, Fallout 4 can be an intoxicating experience. You're often forced to sacrifice something--a relationship, a lucrative opportunity, or your health--to make gains elsewhere. And the deeper down the rabbit hole you go, the more you wonder: what if I chose a different path? You second guess yourself, not just because you had other options, but because you aren't sure if you did the right thing. The fact that your decisions stick with you after walking away from the game is a testament to the great storytelling on hand. Fallout 4 is an argument for substance over style, and an excellent addition to the revered open-world series."
