By Chris Reed on May 03, 2018 12:30 am

The US video game retailer GameStop has refreshed its weekly deals and released a new ad with info on all the sales going on between May 2-8. Let's dig in and see what the best deals available this week are.

Oddly enough for the brick-and-mortar store, the top deals are on digital games and content for PS4 and Xbox One. If the new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer got you hyped (see above), you can grab the original on Xbox One for $10 right now (it's backwards compatible). You can also get Bioshock: The Collection, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and XCOM 2 for $20 each. The Sims 4 and most of its expansions are on sale for half off on Xbox One. There are also plenty of savings on add-ons like virtual currency for NBA 2K18 and the Call of Duty: WWII season pass.

Whether you're planning to head to your local GameStop to pick up a Legendary Pokemon code, you can get Pokemon collectibles for 25% off. These include all kinds of items, from plushes to fleeces to coffee mugs. You have--no joke--27 pages of Pokemon gear to choose from.

And if you have some games you're ready to trade in, you can get 40% extra credit for trading toward the purchase of God of War, Nintendo Labo, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and State of Decay 2.

FTC Warns Microsoft, Nintendo, And Sony Against Warranty-Voiding Restrictions

By Steve Watts on May 03, 2018 12:02 am

The Federal Trade Commission has warned several companies, including Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony, that its warnings against third-party repair are illegal. Motherboard reports that the stickers you may have seen on your own console tells users that third-party repair or opening your own console voids the warranty, but that policy is actually illegal.

A Freedom of Information Act request from Motherboard found six companies were sent letters on April 9. Those were the three major console manufacturers, along with HTC, Asus, and Hyundai. According to the letter, the companies have 30 days to change their warranty policies on their websites, and if they fail to comply the FTC may take legal action.

"Warranty language that implies to a consumer acting reasonably under the circumstances that warranty coverage requires the consumer to purchase an article or service identified by brand, trade or corporate name is similarly deceptive and prohibited," the letters reportedly said.

The letters cite specific language that violates the law, and in the case of the PlayStation 4, warns against using a sticker as a "seal" to prevent users from opening up the console. This method was also used by HTC and Asus, and the FTC says it is "particularly concerned" about it.

Specifically, the FTC is citing the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which disallows repair restrictions on warranties for any manufacturer charging more than $5 for a product. One company that is conspicuously absent from these warning letters was Apple, which is also known to steer customers away from third-party repair.

Dark Souls Remastered's PS4 / Xbox One Network Test Dates Announced

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 11:56 pm

Dark Souls Remastered launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC later this month, but some players will have the opportunity to try the game out ahead of its release. Bandai Namco has detailed its upcoming network test for Dark Souls Remastered, which is scheduled to take place next weekend on PS4 and Xbox One.

The network test will only be held on two days: May 11 and May 12. It begins each day at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET and runs for approximately six hours, concluding at 11:59 PM PT / 2:59 AM ET. The test is set in the Undead Parish area and allows players to summon partners or invade other players' games.

To participate in the network test, you'll need to download a separate client from the PlayStation and Xbox Stores before May 9. PS4 players can grab the client here, while Xbox One owners can download it from here. Those planning to jump in on Xbox One will need to have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to take part in the test, while all PS4 owners will be able to participate.

Bandai Namco will also hold a network test for the Nintendo Switch edition of Dark Souls Remastered; however, that test has been postponed as a result of the Switch version's delay. It is now scheduled to occur at an as-yet unspecified date this summer.

Dark Souls Remastered releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 25. It costs $40 on each platform, but Steam users who have purchased Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will get a 50% discount on Remastered. The Prepare to Die Edition will be de-listed from Steam beginning May 8.

Another Pokemon Go Legendary Is Available Through New Research Quests

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 11:54 pm

A new selection of quests are now available in Pokemon Go. Developer Niantic has rolled out another batch of Field Research tasks for the popular mobile game, and completing them could result in another chance to encounter one of the game's first Legendary Pokemon, Zapdos.

Niantic hasn't detailed what the new Field Research quests entail, but they revolve around Flying- and Electric-types and "include skill-based challenges that will test your abilities as a Trainer." As before, players will earn one Stamp each day for completing a Field Research task; if they manage to collect seven Stamps, they'll achieve a Research Breakthrough, the reward for which is another chance to capture the elusive Zapdos.

Field Research is one of two types of Research quests Niantic introduced in Pokemon Go earlier this year. They are distributed at PokeStops and typically challenge players with completing various activities, such as taking part in battles or catching certain Pokemon. Meanwhile, Special Research quests are "story-driven" tasks assigned to the player by Professor Willow.

Coinciding with the new research quests, Niantic has kicked off another in-game event in Pokemon Go. From now through May 14, players will be able to participate in the Battle Showdown event, which makes Fighting-type Pokemon like Machop and Makuhita more common and rewards players with double XP for participating in Gym and Raid Battles.

Following the Battle Showdown event, Niantic will host the next Pokemon Go Community Day on May 19. During that event, players will earn triple the normal amount of Stardust for capturing Pokemon, and the Red and Blue starter Charmander will spawn in much greater numbers. In the meantime, players have until May 8 to capture the Eon Pokemon Latios and Latias before they swap regions.

Free Pokemon Legendaries For Ultra Sun And Moon Available This Week

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 11:53 pm

It's the beginning of a new month, which means Pokemon fans will soon have a chance to claim another free Legendary in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. This month's featured Pokemon are the X and Y cover monsters Xerneas and Yveltal, and they'll be available via a free download code for a limited time.

From May 4-27, US residents will be able to pick up a download code for the Legendaries from GameStop stores around the country. Those in the UK will be able to grab one from participating Game locations, while players in Canada can get the code from EB Games stores.

As usual, the code can be redeemed in any seventh generation Pokemon game, and the Legendary you get will depend on which version you're playing. Sun and Ultra Sun players will receive the Dark/Flying-type Yveltal, while those with Moon or Ultra Moon will get the Fairy-type Xerneas.

The Legendaries will also come at different levels depending on which version you have. If you redeem the code in either of the Ultra games, the Pokemon will be level 100 and come equipped with a Gold Bottle Cap, which can be used to max out a Pokemon's IVs in Hyper Training. Likewise, the Legendaries know different attacks depending on the version. You can see their movesets in each game below.

Pokemon Ultra Sun

  • Yveltal -- Level 100
    • Oblivion Wing
    • Dark Pulse
    • Heat Wave
    • Tailwind

Pokemon Sun

  • Yveltal -- Level 60
    • Oblivion Wing
    • Dark Pulse
    • Phantom Force
    • Psychic

Pokemon Ultra Moon

  • Xerneas -- Level 100
    • Geomancy
    • Focus Blast
    • Grass Knot
    • Moonblast

Pokemon Moon

  • Xerneas -- Level 60
    • Geomancy
    • Horn Leech
    • Night Slash
    • Moonblast

To redeem the code, select Mystery Gift from the games' main menu and choose the option to receive your gift via a code/password. Input the code when prompted and you'll download the Legendary. You can then claim it from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center, although you'll need to have an empty slot in your party to pick the Pokemon up.

Xerneas and Yveltal are the latest freebies available as part of the ongoing Year of Legendary Pokemon promotion, which gives players the chance to snag a different free Legendary every month in 2018. Next month, The Pokemon Company will give away another Legendary Pokemon from X and Y: a shiny Zygarde. Until then, you can see all of the free Pokemon available for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon right now.

Star Wars Solo Movie: Lando Actor Takes Us On A Tour Of The Millennium Falcon

By Dan Auty on May 02, 2018 11:42 pm

Although the Han Solo is--clearly--the main character in the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, his friend and rival Lando Calrissian is also set to play a major part in the story. The smooth-talking gambler is played by Atlanta star Donald Glover, and he now presents a new promotional video for the Star Wars spin-off.

Fans looking for some new footage from Solo might be disappointed, but the video is still pretty cool. Glover takes us on a tour of the franchise's most iconic ship--the Millennium Falcon. We see the living quarters, with leather seats and a kick-ass sound system, the coffee and cocktail bar, and the ship's bedroom, "where the magic happens." Glover also tells us that the ship never looked better than when Lando owned it, and to finish things off, demonstrates the ship's hyperspace capabilities. Check it out above.

This video follows one released earlier this week that delivered quite a bit of new footage, including exchanges between Han and Lando, plus some new aliens. We've also had this TV spot, and the second trailer was released in March.

Solo: A Star Wars Story also stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, plus Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke. It hits theaters on May 25, 2018. Ehrenreich recently let slip that his contract covers three appearances as Han, so we could be seeing more of the actor in the iconic role.

In related news, it was announced in February that Jungle Book director Jon Favreau is developing a new live-action Star Wars TV show. The series is set to premiere on Disney's streaming platform, which launches next year. This is in addition to the two new Star Wars movie series in the work, one from Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, the other overseen by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

PUBG PC Servers Going Down For Maintenance Tonight

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 11:39 pm

A major update is on the way to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on PC. The patch is being deployed tonight, May 2, and will be preceded by a round of maintenance, during which time servers will be taken offline as developer PUBG Corp. rolls the new content out to the live game.

Update #12 arrives shortly after the end of PUBG's current ranked season, which formally concluded on May 1. Maintenance is scheduled to begin at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET (3 AM BST on May 3) and is expected to last approximately four hours, although there is always a chance it may wrap up sooner or later than estimated.

Following the maintenance period, the update will be available for all players on PC. It introduces a new gun to the game--the SLR--as well as the ability to choose which map you'd prefer to be matched up on. PUBG Corp. has also added a new vehicle to Miramar: the Mirado, a four-seat car that can be found in downtown areas and on main city streets.

Additionally, Update 12 makes sweeping changes to weapon balance. PUBG Corp. says the reason for these adjustments is to ensure that no specific weapon feels "objectively better" than the others. The update also introduces a slate of new attachments, including the duckbill for shotguns, several grips, and two new scopes.

Finally, the new patch makes an assortment of bug fixes and a handful of improvements to Miramar, namely adding and removing some buildings and cover. You can find the full patch notes for Update 12 on Steam.

Marvel Won't Reveal Avengers 4 Title Yet; Here's Why

By Eddie Makuch on May 02, 2018 11:32 pm

The fourth Avengers movie hits theatres about a year from now, but we still don't know what it's called or how will address all of the crazy stuff that happened in Infinity War. As it turns out, Marvel intentionally decided to not reveal the title just yet so as to not take attention away from Infinity War. That's according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who remarked in an interview with Collider that this plan didn't exactly work out.

"It's gotten completely blown out of proportion," Feige said about all the talk surrounding the title of the Infinity War follow-up. "It will just be a name and the reason to hold it back was to keep the attention on Infinity War. That backfired a little bit because now everyone thinks what's the name of the next one gonna be? But it was really just to keep the focus [on Infinity War]."

No Caption Provided

Feige went on to say that Marvel didn't want to call the new Avengers movies Part One and Part Two; directors Joe and Anthony Russo said titling the movies this way would be "misleading." Pretty much all Marvel Cinematic Universe films are connected, but the next Avengers movie will connect "very directly" relative to the others.

"It will be quite evident that the films obviously connect, as all our films do, but this in particular connects very directly," Feige said. "And then we changed the Part One and Part Two, we said let's just keep this Infinity War and we'll talk about the next movie later. We had done things in the past that had taken attention off of whatever the film at hand is because we talked about this. For instance, Infinity War announcing before Ultron came out, and it worked out, it was fine, but it felt like let's keep the attention on the film at hand.

One thing is for sure: the next Avengers movie is not going to be called Infinity Gauntlet, a title that Collider's interviewer put forward. "That is definitely not what it is called. Definitely not called that."

Intriguingly, brothers Joe and Anthony Russo have said Infinity War and its follow-up will be "very different" movies. Infinity War and its follow-up were shot back-to-back, so now all that's left is to wait and theorise about what the movie will bring.

Infinity War made more than $640 million worldwide this week, dethroning Star Wars: The Force Awakens to set a new all-time record. The next MCU film is Ant-Man and the Wasp, which comes to theatres in July; Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson comes out in March 2019.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Features John Marston And Van Der Linde Gang

By Tamoor Hussain on May 02, 2018 11:18 pm

As promised, Rockstar Games has released a brand-new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, its eagerly anticipated open-world action game. This trailer is a more extensive look at the game's story, setting the mood for it and offering a better grasp of its narrative.

"America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed," reads Rockstar's official description. "After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee.

"With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him ... Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America at the dawn of the modern age."

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8Gallery image 9

The game feels like the end of the road for outlaws, who seem to feel their time has come. In one scene a group of people discuss Dutch, leader of the Van der Linde gang and antagonist of the first game. In a later scene a group of people are shown holding up the bank, and a voice refers to the "Sons of Dutch." Notably, we also see John Marston for the first time.

As previously detailed, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the "story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive." Interestingly, there's also a character in the trailer who looks a lot like Red Dead Redemption's much-loved protagonist, John Marston (see the fourth image in the gallery above).

Other scenes featured in the video include a train robbery, as well as hijacking of a horse and carriage. You can see all of that in the video at the top of this page.

This is the third trailer to be released to date. The previous Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer arrived on September 29, 2017 and provided a fleeting look at the game's story, combat, and characters. We also got another look at Arthur Morgan, the game's protagonist, as well as the Van der Linde gang. See our full Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer breakdown for more on them.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on October 26, 2018. It will be available for PS4 and Xbox One. Take-Two, the parent company of developer Rockstar Games, has said it is "confident" that the game won't have another delay.

"The entire focus of this organisation is on delivering the highest quality entertainment experiences of any kind," CEO Strauss Zelnick said during an earnings call held in February. "More often than not, we feel proud that we're able to do that. All of our labels are focused on releasing a title when they reach that apex of effort and perfection. And in this instance, Rockstar Games felt more polish was required, and naturally we are in favour of that decision [to delay Red Dead Redemption 2]. The date of October 26 is set, and I am confident that will be the release date. We are incredibly excited about it."

If you're eager to dip into the world of Red Dead Redemption as soon as possible, the first Red Dead Redemption was recently updated for Xbox One X. With this patch installed, Red Dead Redemption on Xbox One X runs at a higher resolution and features other visual improvements. It's very impressive and currently stands as the definitive way to play Red Dead Redemption.

Stephen King's Shared Universe Series, Castle Rock, Gets Release Date And New Trailer

By Mat Elfring on May 02, 2018 10:52 pm

Many of Stephen King's novels take place in a shared universe, with the author leaving little clues throughout his stories. Now, King is working with J.J. Abrams to bring this idea to light on Hulu. The new series is Castle Rock, named after a town in Maine where King's novels Cujo, Needful Things, The Dead Zone, and The Dark Half are set.

Hulu revealed that the series will premiere on its service on July 25. The first three episodes will debut that day, and it's unclear at this time how Hulu will release the rest of the 10-episode season. It's likely that it will be weekly.

The new trailer for Castle Rock, which you can see above, doesn't give an exceptionally clear idea of what the show will be about, aside from the fact that something creepy is happening in this Maine town. Shawshank Prison seems to be a focal point for this and the first trailer for the series.

André Holland stars as Henry Deaver, and what's interesting is that plenty of Holland's co-stars have appeared or starred in previous works adapted from King's material. Melanie Lynskey--who plays Molly Strand--starred in 2002's TV miniseries Rose Red. Both Bill Skarsgard (Pennywise) and Chosen Jacobs appeared in 2017's remake of It, and they will be playing a Shawshank Prisoner and Wendell Deaver, respectively. Terry O'Quinn plays Dale Lacy, and he starred in 1985's Silver Bullet. However, the most noted actor in Castle Rock is Sissy Spacek who plays Ruth Deaver on the Hulu series; in 1976, she starred in the iconic horror film Carrie.

This isn't by accident, but will these actors have a connection to their previous roles? As of right now, there are a lot more questions than answers, but hopefully, the Shawshank Prisoner makes at least one reference to Pennywise the Clown.

This is the second time King and Abrams have collaborated for Hulu, with the first being 2016's 11.22.63, a series starring James Franco about a man who travels back in time to stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Sam Shaw (Masters of Sex) and Dustin Thomason (Lie To Me) developed Castle Rock and will executive produce the series alongside J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson, and Liz Glotzer. The series comes from Abrams' Bad Robot Productions and is associated with Warner Bros. Television.

Cobra Kai Review: YouTube's New Karate Kid Series Shouldn't Be This Good

By Chris E. Hayner on May 02, 2018 10:39 pm

The era of TV reboots and revivals is strong. Whether they're already available, like the Roseanne revival and Netflix's Lost in Space reboot, or the new iterations of Charmed, Roswell, and Magnum PI that are currently in various stages of development and production, what's old is new again--even The Karate Kid.

When YouTube Red first launched in 2015, it was with the intention of building an original programming library. After all, if Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu could do it, why not the internet's foremost video hosting service? Thus far, the results have been mixed. While originals like Step Up: High Water and Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television have met with moderate success, the service has yet to find a breakout show that could really help it make an impact.

That is, until now. Cobra Kai should not be good. It's reviving a movie from over three decades ago and follows a down-on-his-luck loser as he gets reacquainted with an old foe that has gone on to be a huge success. It stars two actors who excelled in the original film but didn't end up becoming the box office titans or massive stars they might have hoped for. While Ralph Macchio and William Zabka have carved out respectable careers with guest appearances on TV shows and smaller roles in films, neither was able to ride the The Karate Kid wave to become household names like some of their '80s counterparts--Kiefer Sutherland and Rob Lowe come to mind.

With all of that in mind, Cobra Kai might not sound like the best idea for YouTube Red to take a gamble on. Thankfully, though, they did. And while everything leading up to its release--trailers, its classification as a comedy, and that bizarre used car salesman commercial starring Macchio in character as Daniel--might have seemed silly and not very faithful to the tone of the original movie, the series itself is the opposite.

Cobra Kai--named after the evil dojo Zabka's Johnny is now reopening--feels like a trip back to the world of the original film, where Johnny thought he was God's gift to humanity. Now, though, that world has passed him by. It helps that he is just as much a jerk as he used to be. In the first two episodes, he makes xenophobic comments and only intervenes to fend off some street thugs from attacking someone when his 1980s Pontiac Trans Am--which has seen better days--takes some minor damage. These are the exact types of things he would have done in the original movie, but they seem so disconnected with the world in 2018.

No Caption Provided

His is the story of someone who peaked in high school and is holding onto any thread of that former glory he can, whether it's through his muscle car, staring at girls much too young for him, or a rebellious attitude that leads him to lose his job after losing his temper. He is shown to be varying levels of racist, homophobic, and sexist, as well as completely stuck in the past. Yet, as the world leaves him in the dust, Johnny becomes a somewhat sympathetic figure.

To contrast that, there's Daniel. Since beating his nemesis at the All-Valley Karate Tournament over 30 years earlier in the original Karate Kid, Daniel's life has gone well. He owns a successful car dealership, he has a nice house and a beautiful family, and he's a member of the local country club. Like Johnny, though, he's lost his way. He's taken the things he learned from his mentor and sensei Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) and turned them into a gimmick to sell cars. In his commercials he karate chops prices and offers free bonsai trees to every customer.

After they cross paths again, Johnny becomes determined to turn his luck around and reopens the Cobra Kai dojo--and reinstate its brutal rules. Even all these years later, pain, fear, and defeat do not exist in this dojo. However, he's not as hard-edged a sensei as John Kreese (Martin Kove) was to him. He still has a foul mouth and doesn't seem to care much about his kids, but even in the first two episodes, it's clear that Johnny is changing. He's finally being forced to grow up.

No Caption Provided

It just so happens that in doing so, he's coming into direct opposition with Daniel once again. This time, though, neither are the hero or the villain of the story. They're both operating in a grey space; both think what they are doing is right--Johnny by passing on the knowledge he still deeply values to a new group of kids, Daniel by putting a stop to what he sees as the epitome of evil.

What it shows is that, in their hearts, both of them are men that will either confront and defeat their past or remain stuck in it forever. Daniel has is successful and loves his family dearly, yet his vendetta against the Cobra Kai dojo has never died. Meanwhile, instead of cleaning up his life like a normal person would, Johnny is doing it by teaching kids how to beat up other kids, simply because it's what he was taught is the right thing to do.

With these two being the center of the series, Cobra Kai is something that will live or die on the performances of Zabka and Macchio. Thankfully, both are embracing their history with these characters as the leads of the show. This isn't a parody of The Karate Kid. Johnny and Daniel simply feel like they've grown up.

No Caption Provided

Likewise, the young supporting cast infuses new life into the franchise as Daniel and Johnny set out to train the next karate kids (no, not the Hilary Swank movie). In particular, Xolo Maridueña (Parenthood) and Mary Mouser (Scandal) shine as Johnny's first student and Daniel's daughter, respectively.

The cast, combined with the creative team of Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and Hot Tub Time Machine scribe Josh Heald, have created something special. There are some laughs, a good dose of karate action, and the tense chemistry between Zabka and Macchio is as palpable as ever. It's essentially everything a fan of the original could hope for in a revival and introduces enough new faces and stakes to potentially make new fans of the next generation.

Whether Cobra Kai can maintain the quality and tone it packs into the first two episodes of the series as it continues remains to be seen, but it certainly has the potential to be exactly what YouTube Red needs--quality content that could appeal to a wider audience. Now it's up to that audience to decide if it's worth their time and something they want to invest in.

By Chris Reed on May 02, 2018 10:28 pm

Humble Bundle has launched its latest collection of games you can get at an enormous discount in the US. It's called the Humble CryEngine Bundle, and as you can probably guess, it contains games built on the CryEngine. What games are those? We'll dive in below, but note that the deal ends on May 15.

As usual, you can pay what you want for this Humble Bundle, and the bundles comes in three tiers. To get the first tier, you only need to spend $1. To get the games in the first two tiers, you have to spend the average amount people have spent on the bundle. That varies over time, but the number tends to go up the longer the bundle is available. And finally, to get the games in the third tier, you have to spend at least $15.

The top-billed games in the bundle, which you'll only get if you spend $15 or more, are the military-focused games Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 and Homefront: The Revolution. Both games received 5/10 in their GameSpot reviews, so you may want to exercise caution before buying them. Then again, if you've been curious about either one, getting them as part of this extremely discounted bundle is the way to go.

In the second tier, you'll get the Roman brawler Ryse: Son of Rome, the puzzle-survival game UAYEB, an Early Access version of the post-apocalyptic survival game Miscreated, and Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, which fared better than its sequel in our review. The one-dollar tier gets you the platformer Rolling Sun, the mysterious adventure game Aporia: Beyond the Valley, and the "Lovecraftian horror adventure" The Land of Pain.

In addition to those games, each tier comes with game asset files, which may be appealing to any game developers out there. Also, Humble Bundle buyers can decide how much of their money goes to charity. This month's featured charity is Extra Life.

Pay $1 or more

  • Rolling Sun
  • Aporia: Beyond the Valley
  • The Land of Pain

Pay more than average

  • Miscreated (Early Access)
  • Ryse: Son of Rome
  • Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2
  • UAYEB
  • Snow - Pro Pack DLC

Pay $15 or more

  • Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3
  • Homefront: The Revolution

Monster Hunter World: Last Chance For Kulve Taroth Siege

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 10:12 pm

Monster Hunter World's recent 3.0 update introduced a new Elder Dragon to the game, but it won't be available for much longer. The first Kulve Taroth Siege ends on PS4 and Xbox One tomorrow, May 3, giving players only a little more time to obtain its new weapons and armor.

The Siege runs until 4:59 PM PT / 7:59 PM ET / 11:59 PM UTC, after which time it will be taken out of the event rotation. If you haven't had a chance to participate in the quest yet, Capcom says it will return to the game "soon," although the publisher hasn't indicated just when it will be available again.

Unlike a typical hunt, Sieges are raid-style quests for up to 16 players at once. Everyone is divided up into groups of four and must track and battle Kulve Taroth, with each group contributing to the Siege's overall progress. The more tracks players gather and parts they break off the monster, the better the rewards everyone will receive at the end of the quest.

The new Elder Dragon brings two new armor sets to craft: Kulve Taroth α and Kulve Taroth β. As usual, players will need to use the materials they gather from the monster and take them to the smithy to create the gear. Players can also craft a corresponding set of Kulve Taroth armor for their Palico. We've detailed exactly how to get the Kulve Taroth gear.

Following the Kulve Taroth Siege, Capcom will roll out the second part of its Street Fighter crossover event. Beginning May 3, players will be able to take part in a new set of Challenge Quests to acquire the Sakura armor. Players can also now participate in an Event Quest to get the Devil May Cry Dante armor.

New Netflix Remix Of Arrested Development Season 4 Hits This Week

By Dan Auty on May 02, 2018 10:03 pm

When the acclaimed comedy Arrested Development returned to screens in 2013, following a seven year absence, it wasn't exactly met with universal acclaim. While fans were happy that Netflix had brought the series back following its cancellation in 2006, the format of the show had changed. Due to scheduling issues, each episode now focused on a separate character rather than cutting between the entire cast, with the events of the season taking place simultaneously across the 15 episodes.

Season 5 of Arrested Development is just around the corner, and creator Mitch Hurwitz has now revealed that a reedited version of Season 4 will hit Netflix this Friday, May 4. Hurwitz took to Twitter to announce the Season 4 "remix", and well as teasing Season 5. In a note, he explained that he has reedited the entire season, taking the longer episodes and reorganising them into 22 shorter, chronological ones.

The season is now titled Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences, and Hurwitz describes it as "funny in a new way." Check the full note out below:

As for Arrested Development Season 5, Hurwitz didn't reveal a specific release date, but it he did suggest it was just around the corner. He said it would hit Netflix "real soon," before adding, "if you knew when, you would not be wrong in thinking 'why are we just hearing about this now?'"

In related news, it was revealed last week that there is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it reference to Arrested Development in the Marvel blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo helmed many episodes of Arrested Development, and placed an amusing Easter Egg in their Marvel epic. Click here if you want to know what it is.

John Marston Is In Red Dead Redemption 2, New Trailer Reveals

By Chris Pereira on May 02, 2018 09:26 pm

As promised, Rockstar Games has delivered the first new trailer for its much-anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2--the first in more than six months. Much like the previous ones, this primarily focuses on teasing the game's narrative rather than showcasing significant gameplay, and while we're left to guess what most of it means, there is one reveal of note.

John Marston, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption, will play a role in RDR2. This game sees you assume the role of Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang. But during the course of the trailer, there's a quick shot of a bearded man being held by the neck with some cuts on his nose and right cheek. Yes, there seems to be no doubt that John Marston--another Van der Linde gang member--is back, and we'll apparently find out how he got those scars of his.

Beyond that brief moment, there's no further time spent with Marston, so we don't yet know how significant of a role he'll play. RDR2 is a prequel, and we know based on our breakdown of a previous trailer that a number of familiar faces will also show up. But this is the first indication that Marston himself will be included in some capacity.

Whereas RDR took place in 1911, RDR2 is set in 1899. And although the trailer itself doesn't fill in many details about what the story involves, an accompanying description from Rockstar sets up what's going on. "The end of the Wild West era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed," it reads. "After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him."

Following some previous delays, RDR2 is set to release on October 26 for PS4 and Xbox One. Rockstar and parent company Take-Two insist it won't be delayed again. There's still no word on a PC version.

Fortnite's Meteor Hits In Season 4 Update, Changing The Map

By Chris Pereira on May 02, 2018 09:11 pm

Epic Games has launched a major new Battle Royale update, kicking off Season 4 for Fortnite. Recent days have seen smaller meteors crashing down, but the much-anticipated impact of the larger comet that's been lingering in the sky has finally happened. As a result, the game's map has been revamped pretty significantly, with several new areas added and changes being made to existing ones. [Update: Beyond what we knew about at first, it turns out there are seven more map secrets hiding in this patch.]

Many players were expecting the comet to destroy Tilted Towers when it finally hit. Epic had some fun with those theories, but the comet has instead come down elsewhere--specifically, in part of Dusty Depot. As a result, there's now a huge crater that's taken out one of the three warehouses that used to reside there, and a new name has been established for the area: Dusty Divot.

Dusty Divot is more than just a big hole in the map. A piece of the comet is stuck in the ground, and around it, the military has seemingly set up a base to examine it and keep people out (a bit like what happens in Thor). Of course, it's easy to make it over the barbed wire fence, and not just because you can build a ramp. Small chunks of the comet called Hop Rocks have been scattered around the surrounding area, and by picking one up and crushing it in your hand, you temporarily defy gravity. This allows you to jump much higher (and slower) than usual.

Elsewhere on the map, the new Risky Reels area (a drive-in theater) seen in the Season 4 trailer has been added. There are also new elements to existing areas, like Anarchy Acres, and comet impacts scattered across the map.

You can check out Dusty Divot in the video above, but there's much more going on in the 4.0 update than just changes to the map. Season 4 has begun, bringing new challenges and rewards to earn. The crossbow has been Vaulted, meaning it's temporarily inaccessible in-game. Some tweaks have been made to how headshots work, and you can actually destroy stuff on the starting island now. You can see everything that's changed in the Fortnite 4.0 patch notes.

Season 4 Fortnite Update Adds New Skins, Meteor Map Changes, More In 4.0 Patch Notes

By Oscar Dayus on May 02, 2018 09:09 pm

After a long wait, Fortnite: Battle Royale's comet has finally hit the island, signaling the beginning of Season 4. The game's v4.0 update is live now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile, and although it doesn't add any new items or weapons, it has still shaken things up significantly.

The first thing you'll notice in Battle Royale is that the map has changed. The comet's impact has been felt across the island, with multiple locations transformed by its impact and new points of interest created. In addition, a crater has appeared, and it's surrounded by a set of glowing rocks. Developer Epic Games says if you consume these Hop Rocks, you'll "lift off with low gravity," letting you jump higher than usual Season 4 has also brought 100 tiers of new rewards, including new emotes, cosmetic items, and more.

Other changes to Battle Royale include the ability to destroy structures on the starting island (except the Battle Bus) and tweaks to how headshots work. Other parts of characters' bodies will no longer block bullets from reaching their heads, meaning if your bullet hits a hand or leg on the way to your enemy's head, it will still do as much damage as a regular headshot. This applies to all weapons except the Rocket Launcher and Grenade Launcher. Elsewhere, you can now see hit markers when looking through a scope, the Crossbow has been taken out of rotation and put into the Vault, and hand hitboxes have been slightly reduced in size.

In Save the World, part one of a new Blockbuster Event has been added with the new update. This event sees you "join Spitfire and Lok as they investigate the comet and gear up to recruit a team of superheroes!" For more details, check out the official patch notes below, via Epic Games.

      • Schematic Caches come in three rarities (Rare, Epic, Legendary) and contain a single ranged or melee weapon schematic. The likelihood of getting an Epic or Legendary cache increases at higher mission difficulties.
      • Evolution Material Caches contain storm evolution materials (Pure Drop of Rain, Storm Shard, etc). These scale up with the difficulty of the mission.
      • A Mini-Boss will drop one cache (of the same type) for every player who participated in the elimination (dealt damage to the boss, or was close to it when it was eliminated).
    • Certain high-rarity treasure chests found in the world can also drop Caches.
    • Caches are opened at the end of the mission.

Free PS Plus PS4 Games For May 2018 Out Now

By Chris Reed on May 02, 2018 09:05 pm

The first Tuesday of the month has arrived, which means a new set of PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games is now available for PlayStation Plus members to download for free. You have six games waiting for you across all systems for May 2018, but because several of them are Cross-Buy, you'll get three games for PS4.

This month's PS4 offerings are headlined by Beyond: Two Souls, a game from Quantic Dream, the makers of this month's big PS4 exclusive, Detroit: Become Human. Like Detroit, Beyond: Two Souls is a cinematic, narrative-driven game whose plot largely hinges around the choices you make. May's other free PS4 game is the stylish, well-received platformer Rayman Legends.

Over on PS3, you get the action RPG Risen 3: Titan Lords as well as the arcade-style game Eat Them, which has you design a monster and use it to go wreck a city. PS Vita owners can download the similarly destruction-based game King Oddball and the physics puzzle game Furmins. King Oddball supports Cross-Buy and is playable on PS3 and PS4 as well.

All of these games are free to download until Tuesday, June 5, and you can play them as long as you have an active PS Plus membership. You can download the games from your PlayStation device, or from the web-based PlayStation Store.

  • King Oddball
  • Rayman Legends

It's the start of May, so that means a fresh set of Games With Gold titles are available to subscribers for free, including Super Mega Baseball 2 (Xbox One) and the backwards-compatible Streets of Rage for Xbox 360.

Fortnite Season 4 Map Update Hides New Secret Underground Areas

By Chris Pereira on May 02, 2018 08:57 pm

Epic Games has provided Fortnite: Battle Royale players with a lot to digest in the big Season 4 update. Your first post-patch flight over the island will reveal some of the big changes, like the comet laying waste to Dusty Depot, but as fans are digging in further, they're finding there's much more than what the patch notes and initial impressions suggest.

The lead up to Season 4's debut suggested that the comet would finally crash and that we would get a superhero-themed season. Some of the skins match up with that, but the newly modified island itself seems to hold additional pieces of the puzzle. Pull your attention away from Dusty Divot and Risky Reels and you'll find other new areas that aren't labeled on the in-game map.

Take, for instance, the unnamed area just southeast of Lonely Lodge. If you head up to the roof of the house, you'll find one of the letters to seek out for Week 1's challenges. But it's underground that holds the more intriguing discovery. Either by breaking through a floor at the (apparent) bottom level of the staircase or by building ramps off the edge of the cliff, you can find an underground base, as shown in this video posted on Reddit by TopiKoodaa.

Down there, you'll find computers, security cameras, a locker room, and more, along with a logo on a wall for an as-of-yet undetermined group. Over in Salty Springs, as shown by Reddit user __Kaneda__, there's a similar but smaller secret room to be found through a hole hidden behind a staircase.

Even more elaborate is what's located just northeast of Snobby Shores. Ascend toward the house up on a mountain, and you'll find a giant missile sticking out of a silo, as shown in Philendrium's video. Jump in, and you'll find more computers, cars, and security cameras, as well as another logo. It all looks a bit like a Bond villain's lair.

Potential superhero/villain bases aside, there's also something much different in another area of the map. As shown in Qpaniic's screenshot, there's a destroyed building with what looks like a huge dinosaur track in its place. With one of Season 4's themes seemingly being moviemaking, it's possible this is just meant to be part of a set. Still, considering that players tried to interpret Morse code messages from controller vibrations in trying to crack the mystery of the comet, this is sure to spur some new theories about what awaits in Season 4 or 5.

For the time being, none of these new areas ultimately have a major impact on the way Battle Royale plays, but it's still fun to see the island evolve. The underground bases also tease the possibility of some ongoing story that may play out over the course of the season. That's purely speculation at this point, but after how things played out with the comet, figuring out what's next and going along for the ride will be half the fun for Fortnite fans.

WWE Backlash 2018 Match Card: Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Nia Jax, And More

By Mat Elfring on May 02, 2018 08:30 pm

Sure, it's only nine days between WWE events, as Greatest Royal Rumble just happened in Saudi Arabia. And WWE has its next PPV ready to go. On Sunday, May 6, WWE is hosting Backlash, a dual-branded event featuring the stars of both Raw and Smackdown. Coming to you live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Backlash will stream live over the WWE Network and be available on PPV.

Unlike Greatest Royal Rumble, Backlash will be on at a more familiar time at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT, with a Kickoff Show airing one hour prior, which you can watch on YouTube live. There should be at least one match on the Kickoff Show, but nothing has been announced as of this writing. Hopefully, WWE will put a cruiserweight match on the pre-show, as they've been a fantastic way to start these events.

Building on stories from both the Monday and Tuesday night shows, Backlash will feature some of WWE's top stars battling it out in the ring. Most notably, AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura will face each other for a third time--with the past two being Wrestlemania 34 and Greatest Royal Rumble. If I were a betting man, I'd place a large sum of money on someone getting punched in the crotch, as that's happened the past two times these men have fought. Additionally, Miz will try once again to reclaim his Intercontinental Championship from Seth Rollins but in a one-on-one match. The same can be said for Alexa Bliss, who will taking on her former best friend, Nia Jax, in order to win back the Raw Women's Championship.

No Caption Provided

It seems the main event for the evening will be Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe. Since his return from injury, Joe has been interrupting Reigns' promos essentially telling him to stop whining. Although Joe recently made the jump to Smackdown--and Reigns is on Raw--this rivalry isn't over, and Joe is looking to punish Reigns. The match card hasn't been finalized yet, but here are the six confirmed matches for Backlash.

Backlash Match Card

  • Braun Strowman & Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn
  • Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass
  • Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton (For the United States Championship)
  • Carmella (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (For the Smackdown Women's Championship)
  • Nia Jax (c) vs. Alexa Bliss (For the Raw Women's Championship)
  • Seth Rollins (c) vs. The Miz (For the Intercontinental Championship)
  • AJ Styles (c) and Shinsuke Nakamura (No DQ Match for the WWE Championship)
  • Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe

Come back to GameSpot on Sunday, May 6 for live coverage of the show.

Xbox One's Free Games With Gold For May 2018 Now Available

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 08:04 pm

May is officially here, which means the first half of this month's Games with Gold lineup has arrived. Xbox Live Gold subscribers can now download two new games across Xbox One and Xbox 360, with another pair of freebies set to follow partway through the month.

On the Xbox One side, Gold members can grab the newly released Super Mega Baseball 2 at no charge. Like the first Super Mega Baseball, the game features deep baseball sim mechanics beneath its cartoony visuals, and this time around, players can compete against each other online. This month's first free 360 title, meanwhile, is the Sega classic Streets of Rage. That game is also playable on Xbox One thanks to backwards compatibility.

Super Mega Baseball 2 will remain free to download throughout the entire month, while Streets of Rage will return to its regular price on May 15. Gold members can also still download one holdover from April's Games with Gold lineup: Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the 2015 stealth-action game set in Victorian London. That likewise returns to its normal price on May 15.

Beginning May 16, Microsoft will offer two more free games for Gold members. Xbox One owners will be able to grab Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the latest mainline installment in the popular stealth franchise. Platinum Games' cult favorite shooter Vanquish will be the second free 360 title offered this month.

Both Metal Gear Solid V and Vanquish will remain free to download through the end of May, and the latter is also backwards compatible with Microsoft's newer console, giving Xbox One owners four new freebies to grab this month. You can find the full list of May's free Games with Gold lineup below.

May 2018 Games With Gold

Xbox One

  • Super Mega Baseball 2 (May 1-31)
  • Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain (May 16-June 15)

Xbox 360 (playable on Xbox One)

  • Streets of Rage (May 1-15)
  • Vanquish (May 16-31)

Dragon Quest 11 PS4 Pre-Order Bonuses Announced

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 07:58 pm

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age launches for PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam this September, and those who reserve the PS4 version ahead of its release will get a few extra goodies with the game. Square Enix has revealed pre-order bonuses for Dragon Quest XI, which will vary depending on where you purchase the title.

Those who reserve the title from GameStop will receive a set of eight exclusive buttons, featuring the game's main cast of characters. On top of that, players will also receive a pair of in-game bonuses: the Elevating Vest and a pack of three Seeds of Skill.

The Elevating Vest is a piece of equipment that grants the character wearing it extra experience points after a battle. The Seeds of Skill, meanwhile, are consumable items that bestow an extra skill point on the character who eats them. You can take a look at GameStop's pre-order bonuses below.

Dragon Quest XI is also available for pre-order from Amazon, and players who reserve the title there will receive a slighly different pack of in-game bonus items. Along with the aforementioned three Seeds of Skill, Amazon's pre-order pack contains the Arriviste's Vest, a "glitzy gold waistcoat" that awards players with extra money after a battle.

Dragon Quest XI launches for PS4 and PC on September 4. A 3DS version was released in Japan, but Square Enix confirmed that edition won't be localized. Dragon Quest XI is also in development for Nintendo Switch, although that version won't be available until "much later" due to technical reasons.

New Monster Hunter World Street Fighter Armor Quest Starts Tomorrow

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 07:53 pm

The second round of Monster Hunter World's Street Fighter crossover event is starting soon. This time, players will be able to embark on a Challenge Quest to acquire a set of Sakura armor, and as before, it will only be available in the game for a limited time.

The Sakura gear can be acquired through a three-part Challenge Quest called Empress in Full Bloom. The quests kicks off on May 3 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET (1 AM BST on May 4) and runs until the same time on May 10. In the meantime, you can grab the new Devil May Cry armor and weapon.

Capcom still hasn't detailed the particulars of the Street Fighter Challenge Quests, but they take place in the Arena, with the objective being to slay a Pink Rathian. Players will need to have a Hunter Rank of 12 or higher to be eligible for the quests.

The Sakura gear is a full armor set that changes your hunter's appearance to that of the Street Fighter veteran. This marks the second set of Street Fighter armor that players will be able to acquire in Monster Hunter World; earlier this year, Capcom held an Event Quest called Down the Dark, Muddy Path, which rewarded players with materials to craft a Ryu costume.

The Street Fighter Challenge Quests arrive on the same day that Monster Hunter World's first Siege--a new, raid-like quest type for up to 16 players--ends. The target of the first Siege is the new Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth, which arrived alongside the game's big 3.0 update. We've put together a guide on how to get the new Kulve Taroth armor and weapons.

Next Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Character Leaked

By Kevin Knezevic on May 02, 2018 07:45 pm

Bandai Namco has inadvertently revealed the next DLC character for Dragon Ball FighterZ. Shortly after the publisher officially announced Fused Zamasu, the official Bandai Namco Taiwan Facebook page (via Siliconera) shared a trailer for another fused warrior who will be joining the roster: Vegito.

The trailer has since been removed from Bandai Namco's Facebook page, but not before fans could upload copies of it to YouTube. Vegito is the resulting fusion of Goku and Vegeta, and he naturally boasts characteristics of the two Saiyans. Like Vegeta, he's a brash and confident warrior, which comes across in his moveset; in the trailer, you can see him throwing kicks while his arms are casually crossed.

Just as in the Dragon Ball Super series, Vegito battles in his Super Saiyan Blue form. He can also use some of Goku and Vegeta's moves. The trailer ends with a brief glimpse at his special, the Final Kamehameha--a combination of Vegeta's Final Flash and Goku's signature attack.

Bandai Namco hasn't announced pricing and release details for Vegito yet, but as was the case with the first two Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC characters, he'll presumably be released alongside Fused Zamasu. The latter was officially unveiled last week and is the fused form of Goku Black and Zamasu, the evil Supreme Kai from Universe 10. Bandai Namco recently showcased Fused Zamasu in his own trailer.

Vegito will be included as part of the Dragon Ball FighterZ season pass, which runs for $35 US / £22 / $40.95 AU and gives players access to a total of eight DLC characters upon their release. The first two, Broly and Bardock, arrived back in March and could also be purchased individually for $5 US / £4 / $7.55 AU each.

New SoulCalibur 6 Gameplay Video Reveals Taki

By Tamoor Hussain on May 02, 2018 07:36 pm

Bandai Namco has announced another fighter for SoulCalibur VI, and it's a familiar face. Taki, the deadly ninja, returns to the series armed with her dual blades Rekki-Maru and Mekki-Maru. Her visual design is largely in line with previous iterations, except now Japanese text becomes visible on her body as she uses ninjitsu.

Based on the gameplay video Taki looks to be as fast as ever, giving her the ability to manoeuvre around opponents and close distance very quickly. Once she's in, she's able to strike with fast stabs of her blade, roll to get underneath attacks, and use ninjitsu for bigger, more explosive moves. Check her out in the video above.

In March, Bandai Namco announced a guest character for SoulCalibur VI, and it was The Witcher's Geralt. "We've collaborated with Bandai Namco artists to faithfully recreate Geralt, and shared original Witcher 3: Wild Hunt assets like Geralt's model, animations, and weapons," said CD Projekt Red community lead Marcin Momot. "I think Bandai Namco did an outstanding job of capturing all the details and introducing The Witcher to SoulCalibur in a way fans of both series will enjoy."

Since then it's been revealed that Geralt will also be featured on the SoulCalibur VI cover. The game does not yet have an exact release date, but it's due out for PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime this year.

New Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Coming Soon [Update]

By Tamoor Hussain on May 02, 2018 07:30 pm

Rockstar will release a new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer on May 2 at 11 AM ET / 8 AM PST / 4 PM GMT. The specific date was confirmed in a tweet from the official Rockstar Games account, which states the video will be available on the Rockstar Games website and YouTube channel. Of course, GameSpot will also have the video for you to watch. [Update: The new trailer has arrived.]

This is the third trailer to be released, with the previous Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer arriving on September 29, 2017. That video teased the game's story, combat, and characters. We got another look at Arthur Morgan, the game's protagonist, as well as the Van der Linde gang. See our full Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer breakdown for more on them.

After multiple delays, Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on October 26, 2018. It will be available for PS4 and Xbox One. Take-Two, the parent company of developer Rockstar Games, has said it is "confident" that the game won't be delayed again.

Fans of Rockstar's open-world western game were given a compelling reason to replay the first Red Dead Redemption when an update for the Xbox 360 version was released for Xbox One X. With this patch, Red Dead Redemption on Xbox One X runs at a higher resolution and features other visual improvements. It's currently the definitive way to play Red Dead Redemption.

Get Free Battlefield 1 DLC For A Limited Time In The US

By Chris Reed on May 02, 2018 07:00 pm

Between now and May 15, you can download Battlefield 1's first DLC, They Shall Not Pass, for free on Xbox One and PC. And although the price goes back up to $15 after that, it's yours to keep and play forever if you add it to your account before the deadline.

To get it on Xbox One, you can click here to add it to your account. For PC players, you'll need to do the same through the expansion's page on Origin. Naturally, you have to own the core game to play it.

The expansion, which came out in March of last year, brings the French army to the game and adds four maps set in France. It also includes a new mode called Frontlines, two new Operations, six unlockable weapons, four melee weapons, a new Behemoth, and the Trench Raider elite class.

Three additional expansions are available for Battlefield 1, though they're not currently free. Now that all the DLC is out, DICE said in a blog post that it will begin winding down the frequency of game updates.

Before that happens, though, DICE will add a mode called Shock Operations, which is similar to Operations mode but focuses the action on a single map. Shock Operations will be available on five maps: Giant's Shadow, Lupkow Pass, Prise de Tahure, River Somme, and Zeebrugge. When playing in Shock Operations mode, you won't need to own the corresponding DLC to play on any of the maps.

To encourage players to keep Battlefield 1 in rotation, DICE is also giving 10 Battlepacks full of skins for free to anyone who plays the game before May 3.

Despite rumors and speculation about a 2018 Battlefield game, publisher Electronic Arts has yet to make any official announcements.
