As if Fortnite: Battle Royale weren't already popular enough, developer Epic Games has teamed up with Marvel for a crossover event centered around the year's biggest movie, Avengers: Infinity War. To tie in with Season 4's moviemaking theme, the villain of Marvel's superhero blockbuster, Thanos, will make a surprise appearance in the free-to-play battle royale game on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and iOS (via Entertainment Weekly).
The crossover takes the form of a limited-time event called the Infinity Gauntlet Mashup, which kicks off tomorrow, May 8. Like a typical game of Battle Royale, it pits 100 players against each other in a fight to be the last one standing, with one significant wrinkle: the Infinity Gauntlet will appear as a weapon.
During the match, the Infinity Gauntlet--equipped with all six Infinity Stones--will spawn somewhere on the map. The player who manages to find and equip it will transform into Thanos, which, according to EW, grants them "all the power that comes with him." You can see an image of Thanos below.
The Infinity Gauntlet Mashup is the first special event of Season 4, which began last week with the release of Fortnite's latest update. Epic hasn't announced how long the mode will remain in rotation, but previous limited-time events have typically only been available for about a week.
"Over the past few months, while we were editing Infinity War, we'd take breaks to hop on and get in a few games," Infinity War director Joe Russo said of himself and co-director Anthony Russo. "And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of Avengers-Fortnite mashup? So we stalked Donald [Mustard, Epic Games creative director]."
Mustard told EW, "Out of the blue, I get this call from Joe. And after a bit of geeking out over each other's work, we start brainstorming these crazy ideas. It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started."
Along with the start of a new season, last week's update made some significant changes to Battle Royale. The mysterious comet that had been looming in the sky finally crashed over Dusty Depot, turning it into Dusty Divot. Epic also recently vaulted another weapon; this time, the crossbow was removed from the game. Additionally, with Season 4 now underway, Battle Royale players have a new set of skins and rewards to earn by completing new Battle Pass challenges.
Avenger: Infinity War is an unusually dark movie for something with Marvel's name on it. Thanos is bringing the war to the MCU's heroes in a way we haven't seen before, leading to some emotional moments. Among the many characters in the movie is the now-teenaged Groot, who seemingly cares more about playing video games than anything else. Avengers: Infinity War spoilers follow.
As always, we're limited to hearing his dialogue through his signature "I am Groot" line with different inflections, but the character is actually communicating. Now, thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, who was involved with Infinity War's production, we know just what one of those lines meant.
Groot is among the many characters in Infinity War who dies. Given his generally cute appearance, his was one of the tougher deaths to watch, and that's only more true now. Asked on Twitter what his last utterance of "Groot" means, Gunn provided a one-word answer: "Dad."
Gunn added that this isn't something he decided after being asked online; according to him, it was actually in the screenplay. Regardless, this makes Rocket's survival all the more tragic; not only is he the only member of the Guardians left alive, but he had to helplessly watch as his son-like figure faded away while referring to Rocket as his father. The eventual Blu-ray release of the movie had better come with a box of tissues.
Indeed, many have responded to Gunn's tweet to share how saddened they are by it. He apologized for upsetting fans but did seem touched that people care as much as they do. "I knew my answer to the spoiler question last night was touching and sad, but I really did not expect to wake up to so many tweets of people telling me they're crying," he said. "Sorry for that if you're at work or whatever. But it means a lot to me you love the characters as much as I do."
If you're a wrestling fan but watch more than just WWE, you probably never thought you'd see the day where non-WWE wrestlers would become Funko Pop figures. Well, that day has surprisingly come as Funko announced three New Japan Pro Wrestling Pops, all three of which are Bullet Club members.
This new batch of vinyl figures is only a set of four, but the wrestlers who were made into Pops are totally deserving of it. Both Kenny Omega and "The American Nightmare" Cody are getting single packs, while The Young Bucks--Matt and Nick Jackson--will be a two pack.
All three packs will debut in stores in August. Hopefully, Funko Pop will dive into other promotions in the future, like Ring of Honor, Lucha Underground, or Impact. Personally, I would love to see Dalton Castle--with the Boys--and Jay Lethal during his Black Machismo run in TNA. Pricing wasn't revealed in the press release from Funko, but more than likely, the single packs will cost around $10 with the Young Bucks two-pack for $20.
NJPW currently airs on AXS TV, and all four of these wrestlers appeared on the Wrestle Kingdom 12 show on January 4 earlier this year, New Japan's biggest show of the year, held at the Tokyo Dome. While Funko and NJPW may not be able to expand to past Bullet Club members, since AJ Styles, Adam Cole, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, and Finn Balor are all now in WWE, there's still Marty Scurll, Hangman Page, and Fale to possibly look forward to in the future.
It's a new week, which means the big video game retailers are offering sales on a whole new set of games, hardware, and accessories. This week, between May 6-12, Best Buy is running a wide-ranging sale that offers price cuts on select games and hardware. We offer our picks for the best deals below, but you can see the full ad here.
As always, you'll save even more money on the gaming deals if you're a Gamers Club Unlocked member. Gamers Club Unlocked members get an extra 20% off all video game pre-orders and new (non-used) games. A two-year subscription costs $30, but considering you'll save $12 on each game that's regularly priced at $60, it pays for itself after just a few purchases. You can learn more about GCU here.
This week, Nintendo Switch owners can buy a Pro controller for $60, which is $10 off the normal price. Switch Pro controllers also work on Steam, thanks to a new update. Best Buy also has a 64GB microSDXC card for $30 with the purchase of a Nintendo Switch, for a savings of $50. The Nintendo 2DS XL is often considered the best version of Nintendo's handheld hardware, and you can save $20 this week by buying one for $150. For anyone who wants a powerful 4K console, if you buy an Xbox One X, you can save $20 on select Xbox One X-enhanced games.
On the games side of things, you'll find Grand Theft Auto V on sale for $30 ($24 with Gamers Club Unlocked). Aside from that, there's not much else that's too thrilling for console owners. Nintendo 3DS/2DS owners can get some nice discounts on Metroid: Samus Returns, Miitopia, and Monster Hunter Stories, all of which are on sale for $30 ($24 with GCU) as well.
In surprising news, Fortnite: Battle Royale is set to introduce a limited-time mode themed around Avengers: Infinity War. The crossover event will give players the opportunity to actually play as Thanos, but if you're expecting what would appear to be the obvious complement to this--Avengers skins--you'd unfortunately be wrong.
As soon as the Avengers mode was announced, players began wondering if we'd also see new Marvel character skins released. After all, the sale of cosmetics--along with the Battle Pass--is Epic's primary way of making money from players of Battle Royale, which is a free download. But Epic's agreement with Marvel apparently doesn't extend to such content.
An Epic staffer confirmed on Fortnite: Battle Royale's subreddit that Avengers-themed skins aren't in the works, at least at this point. "[J]ust because I've seen lots of folks asking, we have no plans for Avengers outfits in the store," JustMooney1 wrote.
That doesn't rule out the possibility of such skins being introduced in the future; perhaps the new mode will be so popular that Epic and Marvel are convinced to make it happen. But for the time being, you'll have to make do with the existing skins in the game--and after all, there is already one that bears more than a subtle resemblance to Star-Lord.
Fortnite's update on May 8 will bring with it a new limited-time mode, Infinity Gauntlet Mashup. This plays out much like a standard match of Battle Royale, except that the Infinity Gauntlet will be located somewhere on the map. Whomever can find and equip it will be transformed into Thanos, presumably allowing them to wreak havoc, although the specifics of what playing as him involves have not yet been revealed.
A live-action version of Cable blessed homes across the world recently when the trailer for Deadpool 2 hit the internet, and oh boy, Josh Brolin looks awesome as the time-travelling leader of X-Force. [See him in the newest trailer here.] He's going to be a major part of the newest superhero starring super-powered mutants.
But who is Cable, and where does he come from? Those answers aren't simple, as many characters from the X-Men comics have overly complicated and convoluted backstories, especially Cable. We'll do out best to fill you in and let you know everything you need to know about Cable.
Nathan Summers--the baby who would eventually become Cable--made his debut in The Uncanny X-Men #201 in 1986. His parents were Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey. During the child's early years, Mr. Sinister wanted to use Nathan as a weapon to destroy Apocalypse.
However, things didn't go exactly as planned, and Nathan fell into the hands of Apocalypse. Being a bad guy in the X-Men world, Apocalypse infected Nathan with a techno-organic virus. It was incurable. In order to save the boy from dying, Askani--a women from the future who leads the fight against Apocalypse--instructs Cyclops to take Nathan 2000 years into the future.
It turns out Askani is Rachel Summers, the daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey from an alternate reality. Askani clones Nathan in case he doesn't survive the virus. That clone was abducted by Apocalypse loyalists during an attack (more on that later). The real Nathan survives the disease and for some time, is raised by Askani.
The version of Cable we all know and love (created by Louise Simonson and Rob Liefeld) debuted in New Mutants #87 in 1990. He was a really cool-looking character with a military mindset, who tried to take down the Mutant Liberation Front. Cable has several confrontations with the leader of the MLF, Stryfe. In issue #100 of New Mutants, Stryfe removed his helmet to reveal that he looks exactly like Cable. You probably know where this is going.
Cable moved on to lead a new X-Force team, with a slew of new mutants. During X-Cutioner's Song, Stryfe goes undercover as Cable and attempts to kill Professor X. Meanwhile, Cyclops and Jean Grey get kidnapped, and the X-Men learn that Stryfe is behind it all. It turns out that Stryfe was that cloned baby of Cable from the future, which, at the time, was a shocker. Eventually, the story leads to an epic battle on the Moon where Cable seemingly sacrifices himself in order to kill Stryfe.
However, it turns out Cable wasn't dead, and he was displaced in the future. For more than 20 years, there are stories with Cable teaming up and fighting other members of his lineage, taking on a new Mutant Liberation Front, and working with unlikely foes. It wasn't until 2004 that comic fans got one of the character's best series: Cable & Deadpool.
While the two characters met during Deadpool's first appearance in New Mutants #98 back in 1991, the 2004 Cable & Deadpool series explored the relationship between them. It's funny, bizarre, and while there aren't any Earth-shattering stories that completely change the course of either character, it's widely considered to be a brilliant, entertaining, and engaging series.
Back to the serious part of Cable's history, one of his bigger stories comes in the aftermath of "Decimation," a storyline where Scarlet Witch said the words "No more mutants," thus causing all but 198 mutants in the Marvel Universe to disappear. Then, one day, a new mutant was born named Hope. Her town was attacked by The Purifiers--yet another anti-mutant terrorist group--but Cable showed up and saved her. He believed Hope was destined to save all of mutant-kind. However, others--like Bishop--thought differently, so Cable was tasked with taking care of her.
During this story, Stryfe shows back up and tries to kill Hope. He was stopped time and time again by Bishop, Cable, and the X-Force. After saving Hope again, Cable parted ways with her and went on to start a new X-Force team.
Cable's abilities are a mixture of mutant powers and technological enhancements. As a mutant, he has telepathy and telekinesis, much like his mother--minus the whole demonic black magic thing Madelyne had as Goblin Queen. Cable's mutant abilities are extremely powerful, and he has variations on both telepathy and telekinesis that many other mutants with his abilities don't have, like precognition: being able to get visions from the past or--on occasion--being able to transfer his mind and powers into other people.
On the tech side of things, Cable has a metallic arm which gives him enhanced strength. In addition, he has a force field that protects him, like we saw in the Deadpool 2 trailer when someone shoots at him. (Depending on the comic, some creators have said this is part of his telekinetic powers though) Cable has a cybernetic eye. This eye allows him to see different spectrums that a human eye wouldn't be able to see, and in addition, he's been known to fire a laser out of it. Of course, he has other technological advantages, but none of them is more important than being able to travel through time, which doesn't happen as often as you'd think in the comics.

Ahead of Dark Souls Remastered's release later this month, Bandai Namco will hold a network beta test for the game on PS4 and Xbox One. The test takes place this weekend, but those hoping to participate in it only have a little more time to grab the required client before it is removed from PSN and Xbox Live.
The Dark Souls Remastered network client is available to download for free from both console's respective digital stores, but it won't be around for much longer. The client will be de-listed from each storefront at 11:59 PM PT on May 8 (2:59 AM ET on May 9). After that point, players will no longer be able to download it, so if you'd like to participate in the network test, you need to download the client while you still can.
The test will be held on May 11 and May 12 and runs for approximately six hours each day, from 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET to 11:59 PM PT / 2:59 AM ET. PS4 players can grab the client here, while Xbox One owners can download it from here. Those planning to play on Xbox One will need to have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription, while all PS4 owners will be able to participate. The test takes place in the Undead Parish and allows players to summon partners or invade someone else's game.
Dark Souls Remastered launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on May 25. Along with higher resolution visuals, it features a number of quality-of-life changes over the original version. The game costs $40 on each platform, but Steam users who have purchased Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will get a 50% discount on Remastered.
Avengers: Infinity War is the longest movie yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given everything the film had to accomplish and the endless list of characters it needed to service, that should come as no surprise. Still, that doesn't mean there was no footage left on the cutting room floor.
While most of what was shot for the film was used in the final product, Infinity War co-directors the Russo brothers have revealed details about one special deleted scene to Entertainment Weekly. "I think there's one really funny Guardians scene that didn't make the cut," Joe Russo says. "It's just more of a straight-up comedic scene."
Anthony Russo sheds a bit more light on the scene. "It's a scene where they're sort of stuck. There's a point in the movie where they're stuck without knowing what to do. And it was just this absurd scene of the Guardians not knowing where to go. And it was really fun and it was very endearing to us. But because the movie is so big and so propulsive, it just wasn't quite pushing us where we needed to go."
Everything else Joe describes as "loose ends here and there" that were trimmed to get Infinity War to its final running time. Additionally, as he explains, it makes sense that so little else was removed from the film.
"You have to be so vigilant in the script phase about what you are going to include in the movie just from a storytelling standpoint and be really difficult on the material because it is so expensive to acquire the material and you have limited time with some of the actors," Joe says. "Schedules don't always line up, so you have to be really targeted."
As for whether you'll ever get to see that deleted scene featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy, never fear. The Russos confirm it will be available on the home release of Avengers: Infinity War. Maybe this scene will explain whatever happened to Kraglin.
There's no denying that the way viewers consume entertainment has changed over the last few years. With the biggest film franchises composing cinematic universes and streaming video allowing for hours-long binges on-demand, the way things are watched has evolved and continues to do so. It begs the question though, is this something the audience wants or is it conditioning them to expect it?
In the mind of Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo, it's the former. Speaking to Variety, he says, "I think all of this--Netflix, Marvel, Star Wars, this massive moment of disruption we're in--is really a function of audiences craving new kinds of storytelling." The co-director continues, "I think we had a really nice run for 100 years of two-hour, two-dimensional storytelling, but I think over the next decade, decade-and-a-half, you're going to see a radical shift in how stories are told."
And there are plenty of new storytelling avenues for those audiences to experience. As the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe maintain their streak of breaking box office records, Netflix continues to release massive batches of original TV shows and movies. Are both appealing to what audiences want, though?
Clearly, it's hard to argue that the MCU's method of building a universe of superheroes over a decade is working and audiences are reacting positively. Netflix, on the other hand, is a bit more of a mystery.
The streaming service has said before it was planning a total of 700 original shows in 2018 and has been releasing them in loads every month, premiering full seasons all at once for audiences to binge. Much of the content never makes it to the public conversation, though. While audiences devour new seasons of Stranger Things and the Marvel shows, there's a long list of originals that never seem to attract attention. For instance, did you watch Seven Seconds? It premiered on Netflix in February and has already been canceled.
Then, of course, there's the argument many seem to have about practically every Netflix show: Why are there so many episodes? A typical season on the service runs 13 episodes, yet a lot of the shows seem to begin running out of steam around eight installments in. Perhaps that wouldn't be the case if the shows were airing weekly, rather than being dumped all at once. Still, it's hard to look at even its Marvel offerings and think about how much stronger they'd be if they were shorter.
Netflix has undoubtedly changed the way TV is watched, for better or worse. "Binge" watching shows has become common, thanks in large part to the streamer--though it's YouTube that should really be credited for beginning the shift. Is it a good one, though? That's up to the individuals tuning in. As the MCU continues to grow bigger, it will be interesting to see if more of Netflix's massive programming library begins to find traction with an audience, rather than just their top-tier programming.
Now comes an alternative. Sinemia has launched a new price structure that has a few advantages over MoviePass, but one major disadvantage. As opposed to the current MoviePass membership that offers a ticket each day of the month, Sinemia's highest price bracket offers a maximum of three tickets each month as part of its $15/month annual subscription.
Given that the top tier is five dollars more than MoviePass with far fewer possible tickets, you might wonder what makes it worthwhile. For starters, MoviePass itself claims that 88% of its subscribers watch two or fewer movies each month. Beyond that, the top two Sinemia tiers offer access to 3D, 4D, and IMAX screenings, as opposed to the standard 2D screenings offered by MoviePass.
Additionally, Sinemia claims in a press release that tickets can be booked at "nearly any theater on any date." MoviePass, on the other hand, required users to be within 100 yards of a plan-approved theater to check in before buying tickets at the box office unless the selected theater offers online sales through the company's app--and only on the day of your screening.
Whether Sinemia--or MoviePass for that matter--is able to survive in the long run remains to be seen. In its press release though, Sinemia founder and CEO Rifat Oguz says, "Since 2014, we've been fine-tuning our model and are now the leading movie subscription service in the Canada, UK, Turkey, and Australia."
The new pricing for Sinemia is available as part of an annual plan can be seen below. More information can be found on Sinemia's website.
$4.99 per month for 1 standard movie ticket
$6.99 per month for 2 standard movie tickets
$9.99 per month for 2 of any movie ticket (3D, 4D, IMAX)
$14.99 per month for 3 of any movie ticket (3D, 4D, IMAX)
Deadpool is known for two things: killing people and saying whatever is on his mind--literally anything. After all, they don't call him the merc with a mouth for nothing. Still, it sounds like a line has been drawn in the sand as to what constitutes going too far for Deadpool, at least on the big screen.
As Deadpool 2 gets ready to steamroll into theaters with a string of four-letter words and the streets painted in the blood of the vigilante's enemies, it turns out not every joke made the movie's final cut. Ryan Reynolds, who once again stars as the titular hero, has revealed one particular topic that is no laughing matter.
"This is a sore spot for me because there's a joke in the movie that is not in the movie now because--I'm probably not even allowed to say this--Fox made me take it out," he tells Entertainment Weekly. "It had more to do with Disney, and they made me take it out. As I look back at it, I think maybe that was a wise decision."
Given that Disney is currently acquiring 20th Century Fox, the studio that makes the X-Men movie franchise that includes Deadpool 2, this isn't exactly surprising. After all, the trailers for the new Deadpool film already include light digs at the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so whatever ended up on the cutting room floor was probably pretty extreme. There are just lines you don't cross when it comes to Mickey Mouse and his insanely large kingdom.
As for what the merger of the two companies would mean for the Deadpool franchise--and other R-rated Marvel Comics movies--Disney CEO Bob Iger previously said there was room in the company for that type of fare. While Reynolds will be the first to admit he doesn't "know a thing about it," he has hope for the future of his character and its tone.
"This is completely conjecture on my part, but I wouldn't imagine that Disney bought Fox to dismantle it or something like that," he says. "I think that Disney bought Fox so it could have that in its arsenal."
Fortnite's first set of challenges for Season 4 proved to be a bit more involved than usual, thanks to developer Epic Games introducing some new wrinkles. Week 2 challenges are also on the way, and thanks to the usual datamining process from Fortnite Tracker, we know what kind of objectives Battle Pass owners will be dealing with next.
Several Week 2 challenges entail newly introduced elements of the game from the big Season 4 update. One calls for you to consume Hop Rocks, the new item that you can use to temporarily defy gravity, allowing you to jump much higher than usual. These can be found in a number of places, but the easiest place is the new Dusty Divot area, where they're quite plentiful. That said, an influx of people looking to complete the challenge might make that part of the map particularly deadly this week.
Another challenge that draws on Season 4 additions calls for you to dance in front of different film cameras. These have been set up all around the map as part of Season 4's moviemaking theme, such as the one right near the giant dinosaur print.
Additionally, there's a challenge to search between a scarecrow, pink hotrod, and a big screen. The big screen is presumably referring to the new area of the map, Risky Reels, though we won't be able to verify that until the challenges are actually live in-game on May 8.
The remainder of the weekly challenges is fairly straightforward: search chests in Greasy Grove, deal damage with suppressed weapons, get eliminations with explosive weapons, and eliminate opponents in Tomato Town.
Take note, while these datamined challenges are routinely correct, there may always be a last-minute change. We'll report back with the official set of challenges once they're available along with maps and tips to help you complete them all. In the meantime, if you haven't done them all already, check out our Week 1 challenges guide, and get ready for the new Avengers: Infinity War crossover mode.
Fortnite Season 4, Week 2 Challenges (Unofficial)
Search Chests in Greasy Grove (7) -- 5 Battle Stars
Consume Hop Rocks (7) -- 5 Battle Stars
Deal damage with Suppressed Weapons to opponents (500) -- 5 Battle Stars
Dance in front of different film cameras (7) -- 5 Battle Stars
Hard: Search between a Scarecrow, Pink Hotrod, and a Big Screen -- 10 Battle Stars
A trailer for the new season reveals it will return on May 29, while also giving some hints at the insanity that awaits the Bluth family's return. According to the trailer, a big portion of the new season sees the Bluths looking to win the Family of the Year award, which should be easy given their company is the one that gives it away. They're hoping the award helps Lindsay (Portia de Rossi) as she embarks on a run for congress--yes, really. The Bluths want to make America... something.
However, another big question remains. At the end of Season 4--which first debuted on Netflix in 2013--Lucille Austero (Liza Minnelli) was missing and Buster (Tony Hale) was arrested for her murder. While the trailer clearly shows him no longer under arrest, the whereabouts of Lucille number two remains a mystery.
The return of Arrested Development sees the show's entire cast coming back together, hopefully sharing more screen time with one another than in Season 4--something the new trailer pokes fun at. Interestingly, that cast includes Jeffrey Tambor, who was fired from the Amazon Prime series Transparent in the wake of sexual harassment accusations. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tambor continues to deny the claims, but does admit he was difficult to work with on the set, even yelling at producers at times.
There's still a few weeks before the fifth season of Arrested Development arrives, just enough time to get in a rewatch if you want to familiarize yourself with the Bluth clan once again. Also head over to VoteBluth.com to learn more about the "prestigious" Family of the Year award the family is vying for. Then get ready for their further adventures on May 29. Maybe the new season will explain that Avengers: Infinity War pseudo-crossover.

Pokemon Go players only have a few more days to catch the game's latest Legendaries. The twin Eon Pokemon Latios and Latias will only be available in their respective regions until Tuesday, May 8, making this your last chance to add one to your collection if you still haven't.
Both Legendaries have been available in the game since April 2, but up until now, each one has been confined to specific regions. Latios could only be found in North America, South America, and Africa, while Latias would only appear across Europe and Asia.
The two Pokemon will remain in their current locations until May 8, at which point they will swap regions. From that date forward, players in Europe and Asia will be able to catch Latios, while Latias will be available in North America, South America, and Africa. The Legendaries will remain in those regions until they leave the game on June 5.
Like most other Legendaries, Latios and Latios can only be found as a Raid Battle at Gyms, meaning players will first need to team up with other trainers to defeat the Pokemon before earning a chance to capture them. Both Legendaries are Dragon- and Psychic-types, making them particularly susceptible to Dark and Fairy Pokemon like Tyranitar and Mawile.
In addition to Latios and Latias, players also have a chance to capture the Legendary bird Pokemon Zapdos. Niantic recently rolled out a new batch of Field Research quests that revolve around Flying- and Electric-types. If players manage to complete enough of the quests to earn seven stamps, they will be rewarded with an encounter with Zapdos.
Pokemon Go players also still have a few more days to take advantage of the ongoing Battle Showdown event. From now until May 14, Fighting-type Pokemon will spawn more frequently, and players will earn double XP for participating in Gym and Raid Battles. Shortly after that ends, Niantic will host the next Pokemon Go Community Day on May 19, which features the popular starter Pokemon Charmander.
A new distribution is now underway for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. From May 4-27, players will be able to add one of the Legendary Pokemon from the Kalos region, Xerneas and Yveltal, to their teams via a free download code.
To claim the download code, players will need to head to a participating retailer and pick one up near the register. In the US, the code will be available from GameStop; UK and Ireland residents can get one from Game stores; and players in Canada and Australia will find the code at EB Games.
The download code can be used in any seventh generation Pokemon title. To redeem it, select Mystery Gift from the games' main menu, then choose the option to receive your gift via a code/password. Input the code and the game will begin downloading your Legendary. You can then pick it up from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center.
The Legendary you receive depends on which version you're playing. Those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get the Dark/Flying-type Yveltal, while players with Moon or Ultra Moon will get the Fairy-type Xerneas. If you redeem the code in either of the Ultra games, the Legendary will also come equipped with a Gold Bottle Cap, which can be exchanged to Hyper Train a Pokemon.
Additionally, the Legendaries will come at a higher level if you redeem the code in either of the Ultra games. They'll also know a different moveset depending on the version you're playing. You can take a look at the attacks they'll come with in each game below.

The Pokemon Company is giving away different Legendaries every month in 2018 as part of its Year of Legendary Pokemon promotion. In June, players will be able to get another Legendary from Pokemon X and Y: Zygarde. What makes this Pokemon special is that it will be its shiny variant. Until then, you can see all of the free Pokemon up for grabs right now.
If you play games on PC, you may be aware of the Humble Monthly gaming subscription. For $12 per month, it grants you a monthly bundle of games worth over $100. The only catch is that most of the games in the bundle are a mystery until after you've paid. Humble does announce at least one game each month as an "early unlock" to entice new subscribers. The early unlock game for June 2018 is one of the biggest games ever featured in the subscription: Destiny 2.
If you subscribe for June's offerings--whatever they end up being--you'll get Destiny 2 immediately, just in time for the Warmind expansion, coming May 8. After that, you'll have to wait for the end of the month to find out what the rest of the games are, (though occasionally a game or two will be announced in the middle of the month).
As a point of comparison, April's Humble Bundle games included Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Mafia III, God Eater 2, Outlast 2, and more. The games usually come in the form of Steam codes that are saved in your Humble account. Unlike PlayStation Plus, you get to keep and play your Humble Monthly games forever, whether you have an active subscription or not.
Humble throws in extra bonuses for Humble Monthly subscribers as well. All active subscribers get 10% off every game in the Humble Store. They also get access to the Humble Trove, a collection of mostly well-received indie games. And if you subscribe for a full year, you save $12 off the monthly rate and (for a limited time) you get $25 added to your Humble Store account. Plus, 5% of Humble's proceeds go to charity.
All in all, Humble Monthly is one of the best deals in PC gaming. And with Destiny 2 being the early unlock for June, now is a fine time to get started.

Halloween is still five months away, but there's plenty to be scared of in May thanks to Hulu. The streaming service is adding dozens of new movies and TV shows this month, giving you plenty to watch--including one of the most beloved franchises in horror.
May sees the arrival of five A Nightmare on Elm Street movies, from the 1984 original through Wes Craven's New Nightmare--save for Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. Never fear, though, as that particular title is already available from the streamer. Unfortunately, 2003's Freddy vs. Jason is nowhere to be found, which leaves fans without star Robert Englund's final time donning that horrifying glove.
Other new movie arrivals include the Sylvester Stallone classic Demolition Man, She's All That, and five Rocky installments. On the TV side, new seasons of Drunk History, Mobile Suit Gundam, 12 Monkeys, and The Strain all begin streaming in May.
May is officially here, which means the first half of this month's Games with Gold lineup has arrived. Xbox Live Gold subscribers can now download two new games across Xbox One and Xbox 360, with another pair of freebies set to follow partway through the month.
On the Xbox One side, Gold members can grab the newly released Super Mega Baseball 2 at no charge. Like the first Super Mega Baseball, the game features deep baseball sim mechanics beneath its cartoony visuals, and this time around, players can compete against each other online. This month's first free 360 title, meanwhile, is the Sega classic Streets of Rage. That game is also playable on Xbox One thanks to backwards compatibility.
Super Mega Baseball 2 will remain free to download throughout the entire month, while Streets of Rage will return to its regular price on May 15. Gold members can also still download one holdover from April's Games with Gold lineup: Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the 2015 stealth-action game set in Victorian London. That likewise returns to its normal price on May 15.
Beginning May 16, Microsoft will offer two more free games for Gold members. Xbox One owners will be able to grab Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the latest mainline installment in the popular stealth franchise. Platinum Games' cult favorite shooter Vanquish will be the second free 360 title offered this month.
Both Metal Gear Solid V and Vanquish will remain free to download through the end of May, and the latter is also backwards compatible with Microsoft's newer console, giving Xbox One owners four new freebies to grab this month. You can find the full list of May's free Games with Gold lineup below.

Sony has kicked off the Golden Week Sale, a two-week-long promotion on PS4 games on the PlayStation Store. It has loads of great titles on sale for low prices. And if you're a PlayStation Plus member, you get even deeper discounts on the games. The sale ends on May 8, so read on for our picks for the best deals in the Golden Week Sale. [Update: In addition to this, there's also a new Totally Digital sale that's now underway on PSN, as well as Star Wars Day deals. The offers below expire soon, so act fast if you're interested.]
As far as big games go, you can get Monster Hunter World for $48 ($45 for PS Plus members). It offers hundreds of hours of monster hunts, loot drops, and character upgrades. The stylish 100-hour RPG Persona 5 is on sale for $33 ($27). Nier: Automata will bend your mind to the point of breaking for $36 ($30), as you find all 26 endings. Meanwhile, the remake Yakuza Kiwami is the perfect entry point in this long-running series about Japanese gangsters. It's on sale for $21 ($18).
Many smaller or more niche games are also on currently on sale. The Metroid-style pixel art game Axiom Verge is on sale for $12 ($10). All installments of the totally bonkers visual novel series Danganronpa are on sale. These games are about a murderous teddy bear who enjoys trapping high schoolers in buildings and making them kill each other to escape. And if you need to lighten up after that, try Dragon Quest Builders, a colorful game that's like a more structured, mission-driven version of Minecraft. It's on sale for $28 ($36).
You'll find our picks for the best PS4 deals below, but you can see the full list here.
It's a new week, and that means another fresh set of digital gaming deals on Xbox One and Xbox 360. Microsoft's Major Nelson announced all of these deals on his blog, and we're rounding up some of the notable offers here in this post for you to consider. [Update: It's now Monday, making this your last chance to take advantage of these deals.]
Moving to Xbox 360, there are some nice deals to be had on backwards-compatible Call of Duty games, including Modern Warfare ($15), Black Ops ($15), and Black Ops II ($16.50). The acclaimed Original Xbox game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which also plays on Xbox One with backwards compatibility, is marked down to $10.50, while another backwards-compatible Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed II, can be had for $15.
These are just a small sampling of this week's Xbox One and Xbox 360 deals. Go to Major Nelson's blog to see a complete rundown of offers, some of which require an Xbox Live Gold membership. The offers are good through May 7.
The first Tuesday of the month has arrived, which means a new set of PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games is now available for PlayStation Plus members to download for free. You have six games waiting for you across all systems for May 2018, but because several of them are Cross-Buy, you'll get three games for PS4.
This month's PS4 offerings are headlined by Beyond: Two Souls, a game from Quantic Dream, the makers of this month's big PS4 exclusive, Detroit: Become Human. Like Detroit, Beyond: Two Souls is a cinematic, narrative-driven game whose plot largely hinges around the choices you make. May's other free PS4 game is the stylish, well-received platformer Rayman Legends.
Over on PS3, you get the action RPG Risen 3: Titan Lords as well as the arcade-style game Eat Them, which has you design a monster and use it to go wreck a city. PS Vita owners can download the similarly destruction-based game King Oddball and the physics puzzle game Furmins. King Oddball supports Cross-Buy and is playable on PS3 and PS4 as well.
All of these games are free to download until Tuesday, June 5, and you can play them as long as you have an active PS Plus membership. You can download the games from your PlayStation device, or from the web-based PlayStation Store.
Summer movie season may be starting in May, but Netflix is going out of its way to make sure you stayed glued to your couch. We're now well into the new month, and the streaming service has released the full list of additions for May. That features a variety of new movies, TV shows, and originals to keep you busy for the foreseeable future--and there's some good stuff on tap.
Firstly, Disney/Pixar's Coco will be added on May 29. If you somehow missed one of the studio's best animated films ever, this will be your chance to watch and cry in the privacy of your own home. That's always a better option than publicly weeping in a theater, right?
On the TV side, the latest seasons of some of the CW's biggest shows will be added in April. Riverdale, Arrow, The Flash, Supernatural, and Dynasty will all end their current seasons, with them becoming available to stream a week later. Additionally, a new season of Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, along with a slew of other originals, will arrive throughout the month. Of note, the second half of The Toys That Made Us Season 1, the documentary series about famous toy lines, released on May 25.
To get an idea of everything coming on Netflix in May, take a look at the list below, and make sure you see what's leaving the service. Additionally, if you missed what the streamer was up to in April, you can check that out.

Monster Hunter World's Kulve Taroth Siege may be coming to an end, but a new crossover quest is just about to begin on PS4 and Xbox One. The second round of the Street Fighter event kicks off tonight, May 3, giving players a chance to get a set of Sakura armor. [Update: The new event is now live, and you can grab the new armor now.]
The gear can be acquired through a three-part Challenge Quest called Empress in Full Bloom. The quest will appear in the rotation beginning at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET (1 AM BST on May 4) and runs until the same time on May 10. The quests require a Hunter Rank of 12 or higher and challenge players with slaying a Pink Rathian.
This is the second set of Street Fighter gear that players could get in Monster Hunter World. The first was based on Ryu and could be acquired by completing an Event Quest called Down the Dark, Muddy Path. While that quest is now over, Capcom has said that it will return to the rotation again in the future.
The Sakura armor isn't the only crossover gear available in Monster Hunter World right now. In addition to that, players can still take part in an Event Quest to get a set of Devil May Cry gear. That consists of a Dante costume and his signature Devil Sword. We've outlined how to get the Devil May Cry gear.
Season 4 of Fortnite is officially underway, and with it, we've gotten a new Battle Pass. This works largely like those in the past, offering weekly challenges for players to complete in order to unlock new skins and rewards. Week 1 challenges are the usual mixture of easy and tricky objectives; here are the key locations and how to complete them all.
Two specific challenges stand out as ones with which you might need a guide. The first asks you to follow the treasure map found in Tomato Town. You can head there and pick up the map to get started or, as with previous instances of this objective type, go right to the treasure if you know where it is. This one is fairly easy--it's in Loot Lake. Head to where the 'E' in Lake is shown on the map, as seen in the image below, and you'll find the wrecked remains of a small boat just to the south of a small slab of land. Jump on the part sticking out of the water and you'll see the Battle Pass icon to collect, which is done by holding the same key or button you use to open chests.
The other difficult challenge is to search F-O-R-T-N-I-T-E letters; there's no real indication of what these are or where to start your hunt. Essentially, these work a lot like the aforementioned treasure map locations, only there are no in-game hints. You'll head to certain spots and find a hovering blue letter that must be "searched" like a chest to collect. No matter which order you go to the locations, you'll always find the letters in the order that spells out "Fortnite."
Some are in popular places to land--for instance, there's one at the top of the clocktower in Tilted Towers. Others aren't so easy, but luckily, there are more than eight locations total spread across the map. With the help of Reddit users Strantjanet and thesquatingdog, we've verified eight locations--the exact number you'll need to complete the challenge. Here's directions to find them along with a map showing additional letter locations.
F-O-R-T-N-I-T-E Letters Locations
Tilted Towers -- on top of the clocktower
Salty Springs -- just to the east, on top of the fire lookout tower
Flush Factory -- on top of the largest building in the unnamed area to the northeast; you'll have to destroy the glass ceiling to collect it
Snobby Shores -- in the northern most area, on top of a lightpole in front of a decrepit house
Anarchy Acres -- on top of the red barn
Pleasant Park -- on top of the roof in the middle, immediately north of the soccer field
Lonely Lodge -- in the unnamed area to the southeast, on top of the building
Risky Reels -- in the hole on the movie screen
Week 1's other challenges are much more straightforward and generally rely on a mixture of luck and being in the right location. You'll need to deal damage to opponents using sniper rifles, which is just a matter of finding such a gun and having good aim. You'll want to head to Haunted Hills and search for chests; hopefully, in the process, you'll also get your hands on a Port-a-Fort. If you do, be sure to use it before dying to complete another challenge.
The aforementioned Tomato Town map is one of three Hard-difficulty objectives. Another simply has you rack up eliminations at Flush Factory, so head there and take down some opponents. The third calls for you to get three pistol eliminations. Pistols aren't the greatest of weapons, so you may want to attempt both this and the Flush Factory challenge in the Solo playlist. That way, you don't have to worry about revives or competing with teammates for a kill.
Each of these challenges rewards you with Battle Stars to level up your Battle Pass and earn new skins and rewards. Additionally, once you've complete four of them, you'll receive a 5k XP bonus. Keep in mind, access to the weekly challenges requires the purchase of the Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks. In addition to weekly challenge access and the ability to earn lots of skins and rewards, the Battle Pass also includes new Blockbuster and Carbide challenges, which involve reaching level milestones and completing all challenges in a given week.
Season 4, Week 1 Battle Pass Challenges
Deal damage with sniper rifles to opponents (500) -- 5 Battle Stars
Search chests in Haunted Hills (7) -- 5 Battle Stars
Use a Port-a-Fort -- 5 Battle Stars
Search F-O-R-T-N-I-T-E letters -- 5 Battle Stars
Hard: Follow the treasure map found in Tomato Town -- 10 Battle Stars
Hard: Pistol eliminations (3) -- 10 Battle Stars
Hard: Eliminate opponents in Flush Factory -- 10 Battle Stars
Avengers: Infinity Waris finally here. The arrival of "destiny" as promised by Thanos, after ten long years of waiting and 18 movies, the moment we've been waiting for has come. It brought with it a whole bunch of questions, most importantly: what do we do now? With the movie's post-credits scene, that becomes just a tiny bit more clear.
The end of Infinity War is very literally an end--the actual, genuine annihilation of half the universe at the hands of Thanos, armed with a fully powered Infinity Gauntlet. Not exactly the feel good, heroic, triumphant superhero vibe of Avengers past. Thanos has won, and from where we're sitting, it looks like his victory is absolute.
But all hope isn't lost. Though Infinity War deviates from Marvel's post-credits formula slightly by including only one stinger, rather than what's become the customary two, the movie's final moments give us the briefest glimpse of what's on the horizon.
Here's the scene: Nick Fury and Maria Hill speed through a New York City that is slowly descending into chaos. As Fury notes that something big is happening in Wakanda, he tells Hill to get in touch with someone named Klein, likely this guy from Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron--which may point to more progress in Fury's somewhat forgotten efforts to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D in the wake of its official Hydra-fueled destruction.
But the effects of Thanos's finger-snap are reverberating across the galaxy and, one by one, people are disappearing at random. This means literally anyone--pilots, drivers, pedestrians--vanishing into thin air, no matter what they may have been in the middle of. So naturally, as more and more people crumble, helicopters are crashing, cars are veering off the road--you get the idea. The world is not in a great place, and Fury and Hill are left trying to puzzle through what's happening.
Unfortunately, even their time is limited. As they scramble out of their car, Hill begins to crumble and abruptly vanishes, leaving Fury on his own. He pulls out a device--something that looks almost like a beeper--and dials out just as he himself begins to disintegrate.
As Fury blows away in the wind, the device he was holding clatters to the ground and we're left staring at what we can only assume is the transmission of a distress signal. Though there is no text on the screen to give an official destination, a symbol or logo soon appears--the blue, red and gold emblem associated with none other than Captain Marvel.
We've known for some time that a Captain Marvel movie is coming--set photos of Brie Larson in costume have been filtering in since filming kicked off--but her role in the still unnamed Avengers 4 remains shrouded in mystery, just like the rest of the film. We do know, however, that her solo movie will be released in March of next year (two months prior to the next Avengers, due in May) and be set in the '90s, which leaves her in an interesting position considering Infinity War's very present day ending.
Just how long has Fury known about Captain Marvel? Where has she been all this time? Is the distress signal actually going to Carol Danvers or is it going to someone like, say, her mentor Captain Mar-Vell instead?
Perhaps more importantly: what exactly can Captain Marvel do in the face of a fully powered Infinity Gauntlet?
Carol Danvers traditionally gets her powers from her Kree heritage, making her similar to what we might expect from an Asgardian in the MCU, with a few twists. In the books she has enhanced durability, strength and speed, as well as the ability to fly and shoot energy projectiles from her hands. She also has an abundance of military and tactical training both on Earth and with the Kree army, making her a formidable force both in the heat of battle and in any war room--so it's not that she's incapable, by any means.
But all the training and superpowers in the universe seem dwarfed by the force of the Infinity Stones, even with the Infinity Gauntlet in the damaged state that the movie leaves it in, so it's unlikely that she'll be able to show up on Earth without some sort of back up and expect to make a difference. Luckily, there are a few other cosmic Marvel heroes who have been alluded to in the past who just might be able to lend a hand. We saw the Nova Corps in Guardians of the Galaxy, which paves the way for Nova to get involved, especially if Thanos destroyed the entire Corps when he nabbed the Power Stone from them, which would fit with Nova's origin in the comics. And don't forget Adam Warlock, who was referenced in the Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 post-credits scene.
It's been a big week for Fortnite. Epic Games released the big 4.0 update, marking the beginning of Season 4 and introducing some significant changes. The most obvious involves the huge crater on the map created by the comet that landed, but the Battle Royale island actually has a lot more going on than meets the eye at first. As players have spent more time exploring, hidden underground bases--seemingly tied to superheroes and villains--have been discovered around the map.
The lead up to Season 4's debut suggested that the comet would finally crash and that we would get a superhero-themed season. Some of the skins match up with that, but the newly modified island itself seems to hold additional pieces of the puzzle. Pull your attention away from Dusty Divot and Risky Reels and you'll find other new areas that aren't labeled on the in-game map, as you can see in the video above.
Take, for instance, the unnamed area just southeast of Lonely Lodge. If you head up to the roof of the house, you'll find one of the letters to seek out for Week 1's challenges. But it's underground that holds the more intriguing discovery. Either by breaking through a floor at the (apparent) bottom level of the staircase or by building ramps off the edge of the cliff, you can find an underground base, as shown in this video posted on Reddit by TopiKoodaa.
Down there, you'll find computers, security cameras, a locker room, and more, along with a logo on a wall for an as-of-yet undetermined group. Over in Salty Springs, as shown by Reddit user __Kaneda__, there's a similar but smaller secret room to be found through a hole hidden behind a staircase.
Even more elaborate is what's located just northeast of Snobby Shores. Ascend toward the house up on a mountain, and you'll find a giant missile sticking out of a silo, as shown in Philendrium's video. Jump in, and you'll find more computers, cars, and security cameras, as well as another logo. It all looks a bit like a Bond villain's lair.
Potential superhero/villain bases aside, there's also something much different in another area of the map. As shown in Qpaniic's screenshot, there's a destroyed building with what looks like a huge dinosaur track in its place. With one of Season 4's themes seemingly being moviemaking, it's possible this is just meant to be part of a set. Still, considering that players tried to interpret Morse code messages from controller vibrations in trying to crack the mystery of the comet, this is sure to spur some new theories about what awaits in Season 4 or 5.
For the time being, none of these new areas ultimately have a major impact on the way Battle Royale plays, but it's still fun to see the island evolve. The underground bases also tease the possibility of some ongoing story that may play out over the course of the season. That's purely speculation at this point, but after how things played out with the comet, figuring out what's next and going along for the ride will be half the fun for Fortnite fans.
Fortnite Season 4 is officially underway, which means a new Battle Pass and accompanying weekly challenges are available. There are some new wrinkles for this season, but the challenges otherwise work as they have in the past. That said, there is a secret hiding in the Week 1 challenges that is worth tracking down if you're eager to level up and get your hands on the coveted Omega skin as quickly as possible.
Aside from the Battle Stars you earn, doing all seven Week 1 challenges completes the first leg of the Blockbuster challenges, netting you a loading screen called Quiet on the Set. This is part of your loadout, letting you customize what you see during the pre-match loading screen. Reddit user Bfor45 reports that the loading screen offers a very subtle hint about something hiding in the game world.
With moviemaking equipment added to the island in the new update, the image shows a scene being filmed near the prison. In the background, there's the very faint outline of a Battle Pass icon (you can see it below, above the tower just behind the alien's head). You can actually head to that location in-game during a match and find the icon (it's location is pointed out in the map below). Collect it, and it'll rank up your Battle Pass by one level. Take note, however, that you actually need to complete all Week 1 challenges for this to show up; you can't just head there without doing the legwork first. That also means you have to purchase the Season 4 Battle Pass to claim this.
Blockbuster challenges are one of two new categories of challenges for Season 4. Each Blockbuster involves completing all of the challenges in a given week, with each seemingly offering up a loading screen reward like the one mentioned above. Once you do all seven Blockbusters--which won't be possible until more sets of weekly challenges are available--you'll earn some unknown reward that looks as if it might be a special skin. At this point, we don't yet know if future Blockbuster rewards will also lead to secrets like this free Battle Pass tier.
Season 4 also offers up Carbide challenges. These are also pretty straightforward, with each one simply requiring you to reach a certain level during the season. They unlock different style options for the Carbide skin, which is granted to players as soon as they purchase the Battle Pass.
Ubisoft has provided fans with another look at Beyond Good & Evil 2. During a special "Space Monkey Report" livestream, the developers shared more details about the game's world and showcased some new--albeit brief--gameplay footage.
Unlike the first title, Beyond Good & Evil 2 places players in the role of their own custom space pirate, who can be any race, gender, or even species--be it a human or animal hybrid. As a pirate, players will be able to navigate from planet to planet in a ship and can freely drop out at any moment to fly around in a jetpack or board enemy ships.
The gameplay clip, which you can watch below, provides our first look at Beyond Good & Evil 2's combat system. Like other aspects of the game, combat is flexible and varied. Players can choose to engage enemies in aerial dogfights or hop out of their ship and battle them on foot using a staff. Ubisoft also offers a brief look at how players will be able to keep track of their friends when playing together online.
In addition to the gameplay, Ubisoft shared some new tidbits about the game's relation to the first title. As the studio previously revealed, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a prequel to the original. The game takes place shortly after Jade--the protagonist of the first Beyond Good & Evil--was born and is set in System 3, one of the star systems humanity traveled to after leaving Earth to build a new civilization. Ubisoft also revealed that the camera mechanic from the first game returns in the form of a spyglass, which lets players take pictures, scan the environment, and more.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still early in development, but Ubisoft teases that it will showcase more of the title at E3 2018 next month. The game was first formally unveiled during the publisher's press conference at last year's expo, where we had a chance to take an early look at it and felt that it was ambitious but not what we had imagined. Ubisoft hasn't yet announced a release date for Beyond Good & Evil 2, but you can sign up to participate in the Space Monkey Program at the official website.
Pokemon Go developer Niantic is hosting a number of real-world events for the game very soon. The developer has announced the Pokemon Go Summer Tour 2018, a series of real-world events that will be held across the globe this summer, the first of which kicks off in Germany next month.
On June 30 and July 1, Niantic will hold a special Safari Zone event at Westfalenpark in Dortmund. That will be followed by the second annual Pokemon Go Fest, which will take place in Chicago's Lincoln Park on July 14-15. Finally, Japanese players will be able to participate in a special Safari Zone event in Yokosuka later this summer.
Niantic says each event will "include unique ways for players around the world to create adventures of their own and complete challenges together." Niantic will also continue to hold Community Days throughout the summer.
Safari Zone Dortmund will be free to attend, but those hoping like to take part in this year's Pokemon Go Fest will need to purchase a $20 ticket. Those will go on sale beginning at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET on May 11. Niantic says it will announce additional details for the Yokosuka Safari Zone event "soon" on the Pokemon Go Live website.
In the meantime, players still have a few more days to take part in the Battle Showdown event. Until May 14, Fighting Pokemon such as Makuhita will spawn more frequently, and everyone will earn double XP for participating in Gym and Raid Battles.
Following that, Niantic will host the next Community Day on May 19. This month, participants will get triple the normal amount of Stardust for capturing Pokemon, while the classic starter Charmander will appear in much greater numbers for the duration of the event.
