New Beyond Good And Evil 2 Gameplay Footage Shown Off

By Kevin Knezevic on May 04, 2018 12:08 am

Ubisoft has provided fans with another look at Beyond Good & Evil 2. During a special "Space Monkey Report" livestream, the developers shared more details about the game's world and showcased some new--albeit brief--gameplay footage.

Unlike the first title, Beyond Good & Evil 2 places players in the role of their own custom space pirate, who can be any race, gender, or even species--be it a human or animal hybrid. As a pirate, players will be able to navigate from planet to planet in a ship and can freely drop out at any moment to fly around in a jetpack or board enemy ships.

The gameplay clip, which you can watch above, provides our first look at Beyond Good & Evil 2's combat system. Like other aspects of the game, combat is flexible and varied. Players can choose to engage enemies in aerial dogfights or hop out of their ship and battle them on foot using a staff. Ubisoft also offers a brief look at how players will be able to keep track of their friends when playing together online.

In addition to the gameplay, Ubisoft shared some new tidbits about the game's relation to the first title. As the studio previously revealed, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a prequel to the original. The game takes place shortly after Jade--the protagonist of the first Beyond Good & Evil--was born and is set in System 3, one of the star systems humanity traveled to after leaving Earth to build a new civilization. Ubisoft also revealed that the camera mechanic from the first game returns in the form of a spyglass, which lets players take pictures, scan the environment, and more.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still early in development, but Ubisoft teases that it will showcase more of the title at E3 2018 next month. The game was first formally unveiled during the publisher's press conference at last year's expo, where we had a chance to take an early look at it and felt that it was ambitious but not what we had imagined. Ubisoft hasn't yet announced a release date for Beyond Good & Evil 2, but you can sign up to participate in the Space Monkey Program at the official website.

New Overwatch Update Out Now, Making Major Hanzo Changes; Patch Notes Released

By Chris Pereira on May 04, 2018 12:05 am

A new Overwatch update is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and it presents some significant changes for the game. Blizzard has not just introduced the new map, Rialto, but it's also released significant balance updates for several character--with the biggest of the bunch being the long-awaited revamp of Hanzo.

Blizzard has been working on an update for Hanzo for some time. As detailed in the full patch notes, this finally implements the changes that have been tested on the PTR recently. He loses his Scatter Arrow ability, which has long been a frustrating component of his kit for enemies. In its place, he gets Storm Arrows, which lets him rapidly fire as many as six arrows. Each of these does less damage than a standard arrow, but they're each fired at max power.

Another new ability for Hanzo is Lunge. By pressing jump while he's in mid-air, he's able to leap horizontally. Additionally, his default attack gets a tweak, with his arrows moving more quickly. Sonic Arrow, which is used to highlight the location of enemies near its landing spot, has been adjusted to be used more often but last for a shorter duration. Its cooldown is now 12 seconds (down from 20), its duration is six seconds (down from 10), and its radius is seven meters (down from 10).

"The goal of these Hanzo changes is to allow him to have new options and maintain his high damage output, while removing the frustration of fighting against the old Scatter Arrow," Blizzard explained. "Hanzo is now much more mobile with his new Lunge ability, and with the combination of the bow projectile speed increase and the new Storm Arrows ability he can now deal his high damage more consistently than ever before."

Other hero updates are less impactful but still noteworthy. The projectile size of Junkrat's Frag Launcher is now smaller, and his RIP-Tire is slightly slower. Lucio's Wall Ride should generally be more reliable and now even lets him go around corners without leaving the wall. His Soundwave ability also doesn't consume ammo and can be activated while he's reloading.

Tracer's Pulse Bomb loses a chunk of its damage, a change which is meant to make it less deadly to tanks (while still allowing it to kill other characters). The hitbox size of Genji's deflect is now smaller, and the cone angle of Brigitte's Shield Bash has been reduced.

The remainder of the patch deals primarily with fixing some lingering bugs and adding some options for custom games. Those include the ability to disable Mercy's passive, Regeneration.

New Overwatch Map Rialto Is Now Live In New Update On PC, PS4, And Xbox One

By Chris Pereira on May 03, 2018 11:46 pm

Blizzard has released the latest update for Overwatch, and it brings with it a substantial piece of new content. After its run on the PTR, Blizzard has released the game's next map, Rialto, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The new update comes just days after the launch of Competitive Play Season 10 in Overwatch. Despite this, it won't be available in Competitive Play until some unspecified later date. Blizzard says this is meant to "provide the community with plenty of time to learn how to play with the new map."

Provided you're playing in other modes, you can now dive into Rialto. Even if you don't dabble in the PTR, it might be familiar to you--a modified version of it was also used for the recent Retribution PvE mode. In its standard format, Rialto is an Escort map. It's set in Venice, Italy, albeit with some Overwatch twists--like the nefarious-looking secret chamber pictured in the images below.

Rialto comes as part of a broader update that also makes changes to a number of characters, as detailed in the patch notes. Most notably, it reworks Hanzo pretty significantly, implementing the changes seen on the PTR. His weapon has seen a tweak, while he gains two abilities and loses his old Scatter Arrow one, which was a contentious part of his kit.

Free Legendaries For Pokemon Ultra Sun And Moon Available Tomorrow

By Kevin Knezevic on May 03, 2018 11:40 pm

It's the beginning of a new month, which means Pokemon fans will soon have a chance to claim another free Legendary in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. This month's featured Pokemon are the X and Y cover monsters Xerneas and Yveltal, and they'll be available via a free download code for a limited time.

From May 4-27, US residents will be able to pick up a download code for the Legendaries from GameStop stores around the country. Those in the UK will be able to grab one from participating Game locations, while players in Canada can get the code from EB Games stores.

As usual, the code can be redeemed in any seventh generation Pokemon game, and the Legendary you get will depend on which version you're playing. Sun and Ultra Sun players will receive the Dark/Flying-type Yveltal, while those with Moon or Ultra Moon will get the Fairy-type Xerneas.

The Legendaries will also come at different levels depending on which version you have. If you redeem the code in either of the Ultra games, the Pokemon will be level 100 and come equipped with a Gold Bottle Cap, which can be used to max out a Pokemon's IVs in Hyper Training. Likewise, the Legendaries know different attacks depending on the version. You can see their movesets in each game below.

Pokemon Ultra Sun

  • Yveltal -- Level 100
    • Oblivion Wing
    • Dark Pulse
    • Heat Wave
    • Tailwind

Pokemon Sun

    • Psychic

Pokemon Ultra Moon

To redeem the code, select Mystery Gift from the games' main menu and choose the option to receive your gift via a code/password. Input the code when prompted and you'll download the Legendary. You can then claim it from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center, although you'll need to have an empty slot in your party to pick the Pokemon up.

Xerneas and Yveltal are the latest freebies available as part of the ongoing Year of Legendary Pokemon promotion, which gives players the chance to snag a different free Legendary every month in 2018. Next month, The Pokemon Company will give away another Legendary Pokemon from X and Y: a shiny Zygarde. Until then, you can see all of the free Pokemon available for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon right now.

Monster Hunter World's Kulve Taroth Siege Ends Soon

By Kevin Knezevic on May 03, 2018 11:39 pm

Monster Hunter World's recent 3.0 update introduced a new Elder Dragon to the game, but it won't be available for much longer. The first Kulve Taroth Siege ends on PS4 and Xbox One today, May 3, giving players only a little more time to obtain its new weapons and armor.

The Siege runs until 4:59 PM PT / 7:59 PM ET / 11:59 PM UTC, after which time it will be taken out of the event rotation. If you haven't had a chance to participate in the quest yet, Capcom says it will return to the game "soon," although the publisher hasn't indicated just when it will be available again.

Unlike a typical hunt, Sieges are raid-style quests for up to 16 players at once. Everyone is divided up into groups of four and must track and battle Kulve Taroth, with each group contributing to the Siege's overall progress. The more tracks players gather and parts they break off the monster, the better the rewards everyone will receive at the end of the quest.

The new Elder Dragon brings two new armor sets to craft: Kulve Taroth α and Kulve Taroth β. As usual, players will need to use the materials they gather from the monster and take them to the smithy to create the gear. Players can also craft a corresponding set of Kulve Taroth armor for their Palico. We've detailed exactly how to get the Kulve Taroth gear.

Following the Kulve Taroth Siege, Capcom will roll out the second part of its Street Fighter crossover event. Beginning May 3, players will be able to take part in a new set of Challenge Quests to acquire the Sakura armor. Players can also now participate in an Event Quest to get the Devil May Cry Dante armor.

Avengers: Infinity War Funko Pops Are A Little Too Spoilery

By Chris E. Hayner on May 03, 2018 11:22 pm

The latest batch of Pop vinyl figures from Funko's Avengers: Infinity War collection has arrived and if you haven't seen the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, they could spoil some major plot points. So consider this your last warning, if you somehow haven't seen Infinity War yet, stop reading now or risk being spoiled.

There are a few new Pops in the lineup that do not give away too much. Walmart is getting an exclusive Captain America, complete with beard and his Nomad-style costume from the film. There's also a Target exclusive featuring Spider-Man in his Iron Spider gear.

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5

As for the more spoilery entries, let's start with the Vinyl two-pack. While it might not seem to give away everything in the movie, as it's simply Thanos and Spider-Man, the Mad Titan is wearing a fully-jeweled Infinity Gauntlet. That clearly lets everyone know that Thanos gets his hands on each of the Infinity Stones in the movie.

Additionally, there's an exclusive Pop figure only available at the Funko shop that's called the Stonekeeper. In actuality, it's the Red Skull--a character that surprised just about everyone who saw the film. After being dispatched of in Captain America: The First Avenger, it was revealed in the latest film that the villain has since watched over the Soul Stone.

Lastly, and this one is a bit weird, there's a Pop figure of something that doesn't happen in the movie. It might be a spoiler for Avengers 4. The six-inch toy is only available at GameStop and it sees Hulk bursting out of Iron Man's Hulkbuster armor.

As seen in the movie, Bruce Banner spends most of the Battle of Wakanda in piloting the Hulkbuster suit, unable to transform into the Hulk. In fact, that's how the movie ends. Is it possible that come Avengers 4, he'll finally go green and tear that suit to shreds?

There are some interesting choices being made with these particular Funko toys, but they all look like exciting additions to the Infinity War line. A release date has not been announced for them.

Madden Director Leaves EA, Suggests Series May Go In A "New Direction" Without Him

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2018 11:03 pm

Rex Dickson, the creative director of EA's massive Madden NFL sports franchise for the past six years, has left the company. In a statement posted on Twitter, Dickson said his decision to leave EA was made after "discussions with other leaders on the team." Intriguingly, he suggested the Madden franchise may go in something of a "new direction" in the future.

"We collectively agreed this was the best path forward for everyone involved," he said. "This is as much for me and my family as it is about giving the team, the community, and the Madden franchise a chance for a new direction." He added, "I am filled with hope when I think about the passion of those who will pick up the flag and fight on for the future of the Madden franchise." There is no word as of yet regarding who will replace Dickson as Madden's creative director.

Also in his statement, Dickson stressed that "there is no drama or deeper story" regarding why he's leaving EA. He has been with EA for 12 years; he worked on Medal of Honor before joining the Madden team. Dickson says he has "nothing but gratitude for all the opportunities [EA] created for me," adding that EA is "truly an incredibly company to work for."

There is no word yet as to what Dickson will do in his post-EA life. He says he's not doing any interviews and will not respond to Twitter questions about his departure. Whenever he decides to announce what's next, we'll report back with all the information.

"Working on the EA Sports Madden NFL franchise was a lifelong dream realized," Dickson said. "It has truly been an honor."

Dickson worked on Madden 13-18, along with the unannounced Madden 19, according to his statement on Twitter. He also worked on NCAA 14, which was the last entry in EA's NCAA Football series before the franchise was put on hiatus.

Dickson leaves EA after the successful launch of Madden NFL 18. The game was praised for, among other things, its new story mode called Longshot that featured Oscar winning actor Mahershala Ali.

Here's The Star Wars / Arrested Development Video You've Been Waiting For

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2018 10:59 pm

Solo: A Star Wars Story director Ron Howard is the narrator of the cult comedy Arrested Development. So when he started doing voiceover for Star Wars promos, everyone wanted him to narrate Star Wars in the style of Arrested Development. Now he has--and it is wonderful. The Star Wars Show writers came up with a script for what A New Hope would be like as an episode of Arrested Development, and they really nailed it.

The video is true to Arrested Development to a great degree, including the opening sequence and Howard's trademark pauses and quips. It is well and truly wonderful--have a watch in the video below.

Howard replaced directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, who were fired by Lucasfilm with less than a year to go before Solo is due in theatres. Howard, who won an Oscar for A Beautiful Mind, talks more about his involvement with such a major production in this episode of The Star Wars Show.

Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, plus Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke. It hits theaters on May 25, 2018. Ehrenreich recently let slip that his contract covers three appearances as Han, so we could be seeing more of the actor in the iconic role.

In related news, it was announced in February that Jungle Book director Jon Favreau is developing a new live-action Star Wars TV show. The series is set to premiere on Disney's streaming platform, which launches next year. This is in addition to the two new Star Wars movie series in the work, one from Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, the other overseen by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Shadow Of The Tomb Raider Will Have Lara Face Harsh Consequences

By Alessandro Fillari on May 03, 2018 10:56 pm

While the recent games in the series focused on the exploits of a less experienced Lara Croft surviving the elements and battling legions of armed goons, Shadow of the Tomb Raider builds up moments of unease and self-reflection while bringing her arc to its natural conclusion. Set sometime after the events of Rise, Lara and her closest ally Jonah find themselves on the hunt for an ancient Mayan artifact in Central America. With prophecies of cataclysmic events centering around a mysterious box that private military corporation Trinity is desperate to get its hands on, Croft will come to realize that her recent adventures have some serious consequences, making her question whether she's the savior she believes herself to be.

By showing the real consequences of Lara's actions, developers Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics believe Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be a watershed moment in the life of the young adventurer, maturing her into the expert adventurer we know and love.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8

"From a narrative standpoint, we wanted to increase the drama", said narrative director Jason Dozois. "To do that, we not only needed an external conflict, like nature and combat and hazards, but also taking it to more personal conflicts with antagonists--and even her allies as well. That was the big thing we took away [from the previous games]. We had characters that people liked, like Jonah, and we wondered what he would be like if he evolved. What if he was someone who could really challenge her? Not everyone believed that in the beginning, but once we saw those performances [from the actors] we thought, 'Wow, this is a huge differentiator.' It's about taking the momentum of these characters [from the last two games] and seeing that payoff."

During our hands-on time, we got to play an early mission where Lara and Jonah explore a small town during a Day of the Dead celebration. The developers say Shadow of the Tomb Raider features some of the largest hub areas of the series and will lean into exploration more heavily, while also giving players more opportunities to interact with the characters that inhabit the world. While this leads to more moments for Lara to find tombs, collectables, enemy bases, and other points of interest, these moments of exploration also highlight Shadow's greater respect for the history and culture of the the areas the game is set in.

While there are several events and set-pieces that advance the plot--including a massive flood that forces you to contend with strong currents while helplessly watching civilians drown--progression is still largely tied to the open hub areas of the game. In these spaces, Croft will take part in side-quests, collect rare items and materials to upgrade your gear or buy new items, and explore lost puzzle-oriented tombs--all while learning more about the space she's exploring. In keeping with Shadow's darker story, Croft's journey in the time since Tomb Raider (2013) has also made her a far more cunning survivalist. In addition to her skills with pick-axes, bows, and firearms, she'll now be able to use more advanced stealth techniques. With thick vines scattered throughout the jungle, Croft will be able to hide in standing position in the dense foliage, allowing you to stealth-kill far more quickly.

While the dense jungle setting in South America was a fresh departure from the icy wilderness and ruins of the previous games, playing through Shadow of the Tomb Raider also brought a strong feeling of familiarity. Eidos Montreal is taking the lead this time round, and it says it has learnt from its time helping out on previous Tomb Raider games.

"I think on the gameplay side, we would say knowledge is the greatest treasure," said lead gameplay designer Heath Smith. "When you played the earlier games, you could see that she's still learning and still recovering things--she's seeking physical, material things to prove her points. But she matures, through the gameplay as well, [and] you saw hints of that in Rise [of the Tomb Raider] with the codex and challenge tombs. It's the knowledge that is her treasure. At the end of the day, what we're trying to do is create the conclusion to the trilogy, but still make it a standalone experience because this is the game where she becomes the tomb raider. The character she was always meant to be."

Shadow of the Tomb Raider focuses a lot on bringing back those familiar feelings of being a fully-realized explorer. But in a pleasant surprise, it tries to examine the inherent narcissism that comes from being the person to discover another country's treasures for themselves. Given that the core theme of the current trilogy is that of change, it's not that surprising to see that Lara Croft will go through her own growing pains during her toughest adventure yet. Eidos Montreal claims that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will challenge the idea of who Lara Croft, Tomb Raider, is.

Fortnite Season 4 Challenges Are Hiding A Secret Reward For You To Discover

By Chris Pereira on May 03, 2018 10:47 pm

Fortnite Season 4 is officially underway, which means a new Battle Pass and accompanying weekly challenges are available. There are some new wrinkles for this season, but the challenges otherwise work as they have in the past. That said, there is a secret hiding in the Week 1 challenges that is worth tracking down if you're eager to level up and get your hands on the coveted Omega skin as quickly as possible.

Aside from the Battle Stars you earn, doing all seven Week 1 challenges completes the first leg of the Blockbuster challenges, netting you a loading screen called Quiet on the Set. This is part of your loadout, letting you customize what you see during the pre-match loading screen. Reddit user Bfor45 reports that the loading screen offers a very subtle hint about something hiding in the game world.

With moviemaking equipment added to the island in the new update, the image shows a scene being filmed near the prison. In the background, there's the very faint outline of a Battle Pass icon (you can see it below, above the tower just behind the alien's head). You can actually head to that location in-game during a match and find the icon (it's location is pointed out in the map below). Collect it, and it'll rank up your Battle Pass by one level. Take note, however, that you actually need to complete all Week 1 challenges for this to show up; you can't just head there without doing the legwork first. That also means you have to purchase the Season 4 Battle Pass to claim this.

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4

Blockbuster challenges are one of two new categories of challenges for Season 4. Each Blockbuster involves completing all of the challenges in a given week, with each seemingly offering up a loading screen reward like the one mentioned above. Once you do all seven Blockbusters--which won't be possible until more sets of weekly challenges are available--you'll earn some unknown reward that looks as if it might be a special skin. At this point, we don't yet know if future Blockbuster rewards will also lead to secrets like this free Battle Pass tier.

Season 4 also offers up Carbide challenges. These are also pretty straightforward, with each one simply requiring you to reach a certain level during the season. They unlock different style options for the Carbide skin, which is granted to players as soon as they purchase the Battle Pass.

Avengers: Infinity War -- Zoe Saldana Talks About Gamora's Story

By Steve Watts on May 03, 2018 10:21 pm

Avengers: Infinity War squezed a lot of superheroes into 160 minutes, but few had has much screentime as Gamora, who is played by Zoe Saldana. As the movie centered around the machinations of galactic villain Thanos, his adopted daughter had quite a bit to do. Now free to discuss all the film's twists and turns, Saldana has opened up about her role. Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War follow.

In a pivotal scene, Thanos sacrifices his daughter as the one being he truly loves to retrieve the Soul Stone. It serves as the emotional centerpiece of Thanos' villainous journey, even earning a callback scene in the film's last moments. While Infinity War racked up quite a bodycount, Gamora's death seemed particularly final. In an interview with the LA Times, Saldana seems to indicate that she thinks this was Gamora's exit from the franchise.

"I learned very early on. The producers called me and they told me," she said. "And of course there's a shock to your system. I'm so grateful, this run has been amazing, but you're so not even ready for that. But then once some of the things were discussed, I understood that it just makes sense. In order for you to understand the degree of evil that lies within the core of Thanos, you have to circle in on his own children. So I completely understood. I loved being a part of this unforgettable journey."

Asked about saying goodbye to Marvel, Saldana said she suffers some "fear of missing out," but that she appreciated playing a character that served as a great role model for girls and boys. As for the possibility that Gamora will reappear in Avengers 4 next year, Saldana pled ignorance.

"I don't know," she said. "For the sake of the devoted fans out there--we don't want to rob them of an amazing experience. It's all for them that we do what we do and we also protect what we do."

The creative forces behind Infinity War have been persistent in claiming that the deaths presented in the film have real permanence. The writers have claimed the deaths are real, and the Russos implied that any remarkable revivals would come at a great cost. With sequels already confirmed for several major characters who died--including Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Guardians of the Galaxy--fans have been expecting some way to reverse course. We'll know for sure when Avengers 4 releases on May 3, 2019.

This all follows a PS4-exclusive quest to look like Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn, so the company is free to spread the love to other series as well.

SoulCalibur 6 Is $45 In This Killer Pre-Order Deal

By Chris Reed on May 03, 2018 09:58 pm

If you follow video game deals, you're probably aware you can save 20% on game pre-orders from Amazon and Best Buy. The catch is that you have to subscribe to Amazon Prime or Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked, and those programs cost money to join. But on rare occasions, the stars align and you can lock in a pre-order for an even bigger discount without being a member of either program. That's what's happening now for SoulCalibur VI. Amazon has the Xbox One version of the game available for pre-order for $45 for everyone--that's a full 25% off--before the game is even out.

In fact, this deal is live before the game even has a release date. SoulCalibur VI is set to release sometime this year, but Bandai Namco has yet to specify an official date. The game is also coming to PC, but that version is not currently marked down.

There's no telling when SoulCalibur VI's pre-order price will shoot back up to its usual $60, so lock in your pre-order now if you're interested in the game. Amazon doesn't charge until the game ships, so you can always cancel your pre-order at any time with no penalty.

SoulCalibur VI is a Bandai Namco fighting game that takes place in the 1600s and is focused on weapons-based combat. In addition to many series regulars, including Siegfried and Taki, the roster of fighters will include the witcher himself, Geralt of Rivia. In fact, Geralt will even grace the SoulCalibur VI cover.

"We've collaborated with Bandai Namco artists to faithfully recreate Geralt, and shared original Witcher 3: Wild Hunt assets like Geralt's model, animations, and weapons," said CD Projekt Red community lead Marcin Momot. "I think Bandai Namco did an outstanding job of capturing all the details and introducing The Witcher to SoulCalibur in a way fans of both series will enjoy."

God Of War Is Already PS4's Fastest-Selling Exclusive Game

By Kevin Knezevic on May 03, 2018 09:50 pm

PS4's ambitious God of War reboot has been a huge critical success, and it's likewise turning out to be a commercial one too. Despite its brief time on the market, Sony has revealed that God of War has already hit a major sales milestone.

In a post on PlayStation Blog, Sony announced that God of War managed to sell 3.1 million copies worldwide in its first three days of availability. That makes it not only PS4's fastest-selling exclusive game, but also the fast-selling title in the series' history in the UK.

Shannon Studstill, the head of developer Sony Santa Monica, shared a personal message with fans on achieving the milestone. "I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos' latest adventure with us," Studstill said. "We look forward to hearing more about how fans are creating new memories of their favorite God of War gameplay moments that will be remembered for a long time."

Unlike previous installments in the series, PS4's God of War focuses on the story of Kratos and his son, Atreus. It also eschews the series' usual Greek mythological trappings for Norse ones and makes some radical changes to the combat system, most notably trading Kratos's Blades of Chaos for the new Leviathan Axe.

God of War launched on April 20 and was met with widespread critical acclaim. GameSpot awarded it a 9/10 in our God of War review and said, "Everything new it does is for the better, and everything it holds onto benefits as a result. Kratos is no longer a predictable brute. God of War is no longer an old-fashioned action series. With this reboot, it confidently walks a new path that will hopefully lead to more exciting adventures to come."

Deadpool And Céline Dion Deliver The Year's Greatest Music Video

By Dan Auty on May 03, 2018 09:10 pm

Following the hilarious new IMAX posters for the upcoming superhero sequel Deadpool 2, we have an even stranger bit of promotion. It's a music video, featuring none other than Canadian singing superstar Céline Dion, performing her new song 'Ashes.'

The song features on the movie's soundtrack, and musically it's a classic power ballad of the type Dion is known for, most famously her blockbuster song from Titanic. In the video she's assisted by Deadpool himself, performing a deeply moving dance routine while Celine belts out the tune. Check it out below--just make sure you stick around for the post-song exchange between Dion and Deadpool:

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18. It stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Josh Brolin as Cable, and Zazie Beetz as Domino, plus TJ Miller, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Julian Dennison. It's directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde). The final trailer was released last month. And of course, this isn't the only musical performance that we've seen Deadpool engage in this week.

In related news, Reynolds recently revealed that he wasn't sure if there would be a Deadpool 3. A movie focusing on the superhero team X-Force has been in development for some time, and the actor explained that he thought that would be the next film to feature the Merc with a Mouth. "It's an odd thing to say but I don't think there will be a Deadpool 3," he told Starnews Korea, via Slashfilm. "I think going forward it would be an X-Force movie, which would be his team, so to speak."

Avengers 4 Is "Different" And Will Surprise You, Writers Say [SPOILERS]

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2018 09:03 pm

The writing team behind Avengers: Infinity War and its upcoming sequel have shared some very interesting details about the next movie. Speaking to Buzzfeed, writer Christopher Markus said the untitled fourth Avengers movie "doesn't do what you think it does." THIS POST CONTAINS MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.

No Caption Provided

Markus added, "It is a different movie than you think it is." Most intriguingly, he teased that the many surprising deaths at the end of Infinity War are "real," at least in some manner. "Also... [the deaths are] real. I just want to tell you it's real, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you will be able to move on to the next stage of grief."

Thanos directly killed Heimdall, Loki, Vision, and Gamora during the events of Infinity War. After he acquired all the Infinity Stones, he snapped his fingers, killing half of the world's population. This claimed the lives of other superheroes such as Bucky, Black Panther, Groot, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Mantis, Drax, Star-Lord, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Nick Fury, and Maria Hill. Given how much money these characters make in their own movie franchises, it would be incredibly unlikely that they all remain dead. While their deaths might have been "real" in Infinity War, that doesn't necessarily mean they are gone forever.

Avengers 4 is going to be a "mature" movie, co-writer Stephen McFeely added. McFeely went on to say that Marvel is going to "own these choices," regarding what happened in Infinity War, and that's intriguing to think about.

"We're going to own these choices, and hopefully surprise and delight you and get you invested," he said. "It's by the same studio, the same filmmaking team. They were written at the same time, shot at the same time. They're clearly connected, but they are definitely two different movies, one of which is dependent on what happened previous."

Markus added: "We broke your heart. Now we're going to blow your mind."

The full Buzzfeed interview is wide-ranging and fascinating; read it all here.

Infinity War made more than $640 million worldwide during its opening week, dethroning Star Wars: The Force Awakens to set a new all-time record. The next MCU film is Ant-Man and the Wasp, which comes to theatres in July; Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson comes out in March 2019. Avengers 4 opens in May 2019.

DC Universe Streaming Service Details: Swamp Thing, Titans, And More

By Steve Watts on May 03, 2018 08:38 pm

Comics giant DC has officially announced and named its membership program that will offer access to at least five original series. The DC Universe site calls itself an "immersive digital experience" that will offer unlimited access to a mix of live-action and animated programming. That certainly sounds like a digital streaming service, but the phrasing implies the shows are just one perk of membership rather than the entire deal.

Those four shows listed include Titans, Swamp Thing, Young Justice: Outsiders, and Harley Quinn. A fifth show, unmentioned on the official site but in development according to Rotten Tomatoes, will be Metropolis. All but Swamp Thing and Metropolis have been slated for 2018, while those two are pegged for 2019 and TBD, respectively.

Most of these shows are strictly logos for the time being. The one exception is Titans, which has given some indication of the style and mood by showing off Robin's costume. The part will be played by Brenton Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales). We also got word recently that the Swamp Thing series will feature a who's who of horror directors in fitting with the character's creepy style. Young Justice and Harley Quinn will be animated shows.

The site doesn't list a price or release date for the service, but you can sign up for email alerts to be notified once it's ready. We're likely to hear more about DC's programming plans at San Diego Comic-Con this July.

PUBG Brings Back War Mode On PC For A Limited Time

By Kevin Knezevic on May 03, 2018 08:38 pm

A new event mode is starting soon in PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on PC. Following the game's latest update, developer PUBG Corp. has announced it is bringing back the popular War Mode for a limited time, and it comes with a few changes this time around.

For this iteration of War Mode, players will be grouped into 10 teams of five on Miramar. The battle will be contained within a static safe zone, which PUBG Corp. says will be slightly larger this time around. Players will also spawn with "top-tier" equipment, including a level 3 helmet and vest, two grenades, and one random weapon that could usually only be found in care packages.

As before, War is essentially a Team Deathmatch mode for PUBG. The object is to score 200 points by killing and knocking down other players. Unlike PUBG's usual battle royale mode, players will also respawn in a plane each time they are killed during a match, and it takes only two seconds to revive a knocked teammate.

War Mode kicks off tonight, May 3, at 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET (3 AM BST on May 4) and will only be available through the weekend, running until the same time on May 6. Given its popularity, however, there is always a chance PUBG Corp. could introduce another new iteration of the mode in the future. You can read more details about it on Steam.

War Mode arrives shortly after PUBG's most recent update, which introduced a slate of major changes to the game. In addition to a new gun--the SLR--and vehicle for Miramar, Update #12 added the ability to choose which map players prefer to be matched up on and makes sweeping changes to weapon balance. It also introduced an assortment of new attachments. PUBG Corp. detailed all of the changes in the update's patch notes.

God Of War PS4 Hides An Avengers: Infinity War Easter Egg

By Chris Pereira on May 03, 2018 08:26 pm

The new God of War on PS4 features a wide array of additions to the series, from a new combat system and weapon to an AI companion and a much different narrative focus. It also features some light RPG elements, including gear that you can collect and equip. There are a ton of items to be had, but a handful in particular are tied to what appears to be a pretty obvious reference to Marvel's smash-hit new movie, Avengers: Infinity War.

Infinity War centers around the villain Thanos and his pursuit of the six Infinity Stones, which he plans to insert into the Infinity Gauntlet, granting him god-like powers. While lacking the same level of overwhelming control over the universe, Kratos can get his hands on some Infinity Gauntlet and Stone-inspired items during his travels.

The Infinity Gauntlet takes the form of a talisman known as the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages, which appears to have first been discovered by Reddit user moxxxxxi. Its description states, "An ancient relic of Hel deemed too powerful to remain whole, fragments of its former strength lie scattered throughout the realms..."

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6Gallery image 7Gallery image 8

Additionally, there are enchantments--gems that can be inserted into an item to provide a buff--that reference the Infinity Stones. Here are the names of all six and the Infinity Stones they appear to be connected to:

  • Andvari's Soul -- Soul Stone
  • Asgard's Shard of Existence -- Reality Stone
  • Eye of the Outer Realm -- Space Stone
  • Ivaldi's Corrupted Mind -- Mind Stone
  • Muspelheim Eye of Power -- Power Stone
  • Njord's Temporal Stone -- Time Stone

When the Shattered Gauntlet of Ages is fully upgraded, it can hold up to three enchantments (rather than six, like the Infinity Gauntlet, presumably because that would be far too powerful for gameplay purposes). On its own, it's somewhat unremarkable, but if you slot in three of the enchantments listed above, the talisman gains the ability to shoot a Thanos-y purple beam at enemies. It's a more elaborate effect than what happens when you have other enchantments slotted into the item. There are some very light God of War spoilers ahead.

In order to get your hands on the gauntlet, you'll need to complete the quest Family Business, which you'll get from the dwarf Sindri. Toward the end of the quest, when you find the remains of the dead men on the boat, a Traveler will attack you. Defeat it, and you'll get the talisman.

The video above showcases the gauntlet in action and highlights what you need to do to obtain each of the six enchantments (although, again, you'll only be able to insert three of them into the gauntlet at a time). Here's a quick rundown:

  • Andvari's Soul -- complete Brok's Deus Ex Malachite favor
  • Asgard's Shard of Existence -- defeat Valkyrie Rota in Helheim
  • Eye of the Outer Realm -- found in Hidden Chamber of Odin in Helheim (you only have one chance to get this)
  • Ivaldi's Corrupted Mind -- defeat Valkyrie Olrun in Alfheim
  • Muspelheim Eye of Power -- purchase at the Muspelheim shop
  • Njord's Temporal Stone -- defeat Valkyrie Queen

Free Weekend For Fantastic Xbox One Game Is Underway

By Chris Reed on May 03, 2018 08:14 pm

If you have an Xbox One and an Xbox Live Gold subscription, you can try out one of the best strategy games in recent years for free this weekend. That's because the Xbox One version of XCOM 2 is free to play between today and Sunday, May 6.

All you have to do is download the free trial from the Xbox Store. If you enjoy it and decide to purchase the full game, you can get XCOM 2 or XCOM 2 Digital Deluxe from the Microsoft Store for 67% off. The War of the Chosen expansion is also available for 25% off. If you do make the purchase, any progress you make during the free play weekend will carry over into the full game.

Whether you played 2012's XCOM: Enemy Unknown or not, all you really need to know to get your footing in this sequel is that things didn't go well in the end. Aliens took over the planet, leaving humans beaten and downtrodden. XCOM 2 picks up 20 years later, as the humans, led by you, start fighting back.

In our 9/10 XCOM 2 review, Mike Mahardy wrote, "This new script supports numerous tweaks to the XCOM formula, all for the better. We're still building an army, researching new technologies, and putting them to use in squad-based strategy missions. But these missions are less about repelling the aliens, and more about sabotaging their global operations whenever we can. We loot supply trains and intercept communications signals to halt the Advent's plan for human eradication. XCOM 2 ties its narrative and gameplay together in such a way that every mission feels critical, and every shot carries weight."

XCOM 2 isn't the only game that's free to play this weekend. Ubisoft's medieval brawler For Honor is also free to play through Sunday.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Reveals John Marston And Van Der Linde Gang

By Tamoor Hussain on May 03, 2018 07:48 pm

As promised, Rockstar Games has released a brand-new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, its eagerly anticipated open-world action game. This trailer is a more extensive look at the game's story, setting the mood for it and offering a better grasp of its narrative.

"America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed," reads Rockstar's official description. "After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee.

"With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him ... Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America at the dawn of the modern age."

The game feels like the end of the road for outlaws, who seem to feel their time has come. In one scene a group of people discuss Dutch, leader of the Van der Linde gang and antagonist of the first game. In a later scene a group of people are shown holding up the bank, and a voice refers to the "Sons of Dutch." Notably, we also see John Marston for the first time.

As previously detailed, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the "story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive." Interestingly, there's also a character in the trailer who looks a lot like Red Dead Redemption's much-loved protagonist, John Marston (see the fourth image in the gallery above).

Other scenes featured in the video include a train robbery, as well as hijacking of a horse and carriage. You can see all of that in the video at the top of this page.

This is the third trailer to be released to date. The previous Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer arrived on September 29, 2017 and provided a fleeting look at the game's story, combat, and characters. We also got another look at Arthur Morgan, the game's protagonist, as well as the Van der Linde gang. See our full Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer breakdown for more on them.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on October 26, 2018. It will be available for PS4 and Xbox One. Take-Two, the parent company of developer Rockstar Games, has said it is "confident" that the game won't have another delay.

"The entire focus of this organisation is on delivering the highest quality entertainment experiences of any kind," CEO Strauss Zelnick said during an earnings call held in February. "More often than not, we feel proud that we're able to do that. All of our labels are focused on releasing a title when they reach that apex of effort and perfection. And in this instance, Rockstar Games felt more polish was required, and naturally we are in favour of that decision [to delay Red Dead Redemption 2]. The date of October 26 is set, and I am confident that will be the release date. We are incredibly excited about it."

If you're eager to dip into the world of Red Dead Redemption as soon as possible, the first Red Dead Redemption was recently updated for Xbox One X. With this patch installed, Red Dead Redemption on Xbox One X runs at a higher resolution and features other visual improvements. It's very impressive and currently stands as the definitive way to play Red Dead Redemption.

Fortnite Season 4 Skins Headline Battle Pass Update

By Chris Pereira on May 03, 2018 07:28 pm

It's been a big week for Fortnite, as Season 4 official started with the launch of the big 4.0 update on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and mobile. Alongside other significant changes to the map, Epic Games has also debuted the new Battle Pass, which offers new skins and rewards for those who buy it. Here's everything you need to know about its price, what it includes, and more.

Like previous Battle Passes, this one is bought exclusively with V-Bucks--there's no real-world money option. It costs 950 V-Bucks, which works out to just under $10/£8 if you buy the smallest bundle of V-Bucks (1,000). Purchasing it gets you instant access to a handful of rewards that Epic estimates are worth more than 3,500 V-Bucks: two skins (Carbide and Battlehawk) and two bonuses for the duration of the season (50% extra match XP and 10% more when playing with a friend). You also get access to challenges.

All Fortnite players get access to a set of free Starter challenges and can unlock a small handful of rewards, but the weekly challenges and vast majority of unlockables are only for Battle Pass owners. In addition to 10 weeks of challenges that will progressively unlock between now and early July, the Battle Pass also includes new Blockbuster and Carbide challenges. Blockbuster involves completing all of the challenges in each week and unlocks some as-of-yet unknown cosmetic reward. Carbide involves reaching different level milestones, with each one offering some piece to upgrade the Carbide skin, along with a pickaxe.

No Caption Provided

In terms of rewards tied directly to the Battle Pass, there are more than 100. You can see a selection of skins above or check out everything available in our Season 4 rewards roundup. Again, as in the past, Epic estimates that unlocking everything will take between 75-150 hours of gameplay.

If you owned Season 3's Battle Pass, you'll gain five levels of the new Battle Pass automatically. Purchasing Season 4's will also carry over a five level bonus into Season 5 once that begins. Those in a hurry to level up can also purchase additional levels for V-Bucks.

Fortnite Season 4 runs through July 9, so provided you start early, you'll have just over two months to get your hands on all the rewards. There's plenty of other new Season 4 content to check out, including the crashed meteor and updated map. For more, read through the Season 4 update patch notes.

Rainbow Six Siege Update Out Now; Full 1.2 Patch Notes Released

By Chris Pereira on May 03, 2018 07:22 pm

A new update for Rainbow Six Siege is set to launch on all platforms--PC, PS4, and Xbox One--on Tuesday, May 1, Ubisoft has announced. Rather than introduce new features, it deals primarily with balance changes, including the much-anticipated nerf to Lion, the Operator who has been widely considered overpowered since the launch of Year 3. [Update: The patch is now available on all platforms.]

Ubisoft outlined its plans for balance changes recently, and update 1.2 implements many of them. When it comes to Lion, the character's gadget (a drone that outlines players for the enemy team) has been toned down significantly. Now, when it's used, players can stop moving to remove the outline. Additionally, Lion can only use the scan twice per round, rather than three times, and its cooldown increases from 10 seconds to 20.

The changes to Lion are undoubtedly the most significant, but other characters see tweaks in this patch as well. Blitz's Shield Flash loses a charge and range; Hibana's claymore is replaced with a breaching charge; Jager's Magpie won't destroy Hibana's X-KAIROS pellets; and Ying gets a claymore in place of smoke grenades. Additionally, Vigil's Electronic Rendering Cloak now works differently--it uses its charge in 12 seconds, rather than 30, but it recharges in only six seconds, rather than 12.

The remainder of the update deals with adjustments to damage dealt by light machine guns (in short, several get a damage boost) and fixing various bugs. These are outlined in full on the Siege website.

Year 3 of Rainbow Six Siege's post-launch support began in March, when two new Operators, Lion and Finka, were added. We don't yet know what's next for the game, although the next Operators may have leaked. The Lion nerf is a move that's been highly anticipated, and even Ubisoft has admitted in frank fashion that it didn't do enough to fix him before release.

"[T]here are clearly limitations and flaws in our pipeline when it comes to testing and iterating on Operator balancing before releasing them," game designer Jean-Baptiste Hallé said in a recent Reddit AMA. "We have Pro players come in early to test content, but we don't get a full picture as it is limited in time and the number of players involved. Also, we don't always have the time to correct the issues that they spot during these sessions.

"For example, on Lion, they did spot that the full outline detection was problematic. We did not have time to modify that system before the release of the Operator. This shows that we have room for improvement in our iteration pipeline. We are working on ways to improve the feedback to iteration loop for Operators pre-release."

God Of War PS4 Collector's Edition Map Hides A Secret

By Alex Newhouse on May 03, 2018 07:22 pm

God of War is an enormous game, so it's likely that there are plenty of secrets hidden throughout it. But what few people could have guessed was that there'd be something revealed by clues buried in the physical map that came with the Collector's Edition. (Warning: some spoilers below.)

As Kotaku reported, players have now unraveled a puzzle that stems from runes scattered across the Collector's Edition map. These runes were deciphered by YouTube user BRKsEDU, who used in-game alphabets to assist in the transliteration. You can read the full runic riddle at the bottom of this article; essentially, it recounts the tale of Sindri and Brok and their journey for treasure.

This riddle led passionate fans in a quest for treasure ranging across the game's world, but eventually user SkipOneEBR found a final clue in the physical map. Letters along the left and right sides corresponded to "steps" through the map, tracing the paths of Brok and Sindri. Eventually, these paths end at the Muspelheim Temple. By following the instructions at the end of the riddle, you can unlock a rift which contains a special pommel for Kratos' axe with some pretty great stats.

In other news, Sony Santa Monica has been frequently updating the game to fix bugs and improve improve the overall experience. The latest patch was just released includes a text size slider alongside other, unspecified tweaks. In addition, if you're just getting started with God of War, check out our tips for beginners and read our history of the series to learn more about the game and its predecessors.

The Sindri and Brok Riddle

The brilliant huldra blacksmiths Brok and Sindri traveled all around the lands of Midgard to create this great map for the giantess Faye a mysterious treasure was found at the space between them at the conclusion of their journey unfortunately for the brothers the treasure's location was instantly forgotten Brok retraced his steps and blamed Sindri for losing the treasure Sindri retraced his own steps but clearly knew it was Brok's fault they could not find it the treasure was never found and neither brother has spoken to the other either since.

To reveal the great treasure stand inside the golden circle and look straight ahead to Tyr's temple now look to the left brazier look back to Tyr's temple look to the right brazier and back to left brazier.

Having just looked to the left brazier now look back straight ahead to Tyr's temple again now look down to the floor then look up to the right brazier and then back to the left brazier and finally look to Tyr's temple to reveal the forgotten treasure.

Pokemon Go: Get Zapdos Through New Research Quests

By Kevin Knezevic on May 03, 2018 06:55 pm

A new selection of quests are now available in Pokemon Go. Developer Niantic has rolled out another batch of Field Research tasks for the popular mobile game, and completing them could result in another chance to encounter one of the game's first Legendary Pokemon, Zapdos.

Niantic hasn't detailed what the new Field Research quests entail, but they revolve around Flying- and Electric-types and "include skill-based challenges that will test your abilities as a Trainer." As before, players will earn one Stamp each day for completing a Field Research task; if they manage to collect seven Stamps, they'll achieve a Research Breakthrough, the reward for which is another chance to capture the elusive Zapdos.

Field Research is one of two types of Research quests Niantic introduced in Pokemon Go earlier this year. They are distributed at PokeStops and typically challenge players with completing various activities, such as taking part in battles or catching certain Pokemon. Meanwhile, Special Research quests are "story-driven" tasks assigned to the player by Professor Willow.

Coinciding with the new research quests, Niantic has kicked off another in-game event in Pokemon Go. From now through May 14, players will be able to participate in the Battle Showdown event, which makes Fighting-type Pokemon like Machop and Makuhita more common and rewards players with double XP for participating in Gym and Raid Battles.

Following the Battle Showdown event, Niantic will host the next Pokemon Go Community Day on May 19. During that event, players will earn triple the normal amount of Stardust for capturing Pokemon, and the Red and Blue starter Charmander will spawn in much greater numbers. In the meantime, players have until May 8 to capture the Eon Pokemon Latios and Latias before they swap regions.

Super Mega Baseball 2 will remain free to download throughout the entire month, while Streets of Rage will return to its regular price on May 15. Gold members can also still download one holdover from April's Games with Gold lineup: Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the 2015 stealth-action game set in Victorian London. That likewise returns to its normal price on May 15.

Beginning May 16, Microsoft will offer two more free games for Gold members. Xbox One owners will be able to grab Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the latest mainline installment in the popular stealth franchise. Platinum Games' cult favorite shooter Vanquish will be the second free 360 title offered this month.

Both Metal Gear Solid V and Vanquish will remain free to download through the end of May, and the latter is also backwards compatible with Microsoft's newer console, giving Xbox One owners four new freebies to grab this month. You can find the full list of May's free Games with Gold lineup below.

MoviePass Resumes Movie-A-Day Model After Removing It Last Month

By Dan Auty on May 03, 2018 06:46 pm

Last week it was reported that MoviePass, the US-based movie-going membership service, might be about to ditch its popular subscription package that allows daily theater visits for a too-good-to-be-true price of $10. The offer disappeared from its website, with a less generous package offered in its place. However, the movie-a-day monthly plan has now returned.

Since April 13, the only offer that was available was a $29.95 for three-months plan, that only allowed users to see four movies in a month. It also threw in a trial for iHeartRadio's All Access on-demand streaming package, but for moviegoers it was clearly an inferior deal compared to being able to see a film on every single day of the month.

This week, the original offer returned to the site, with MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe explaining that that was always the plan. "We never planned to abandon the flagship product that everybody loves," he told Variety. "Any time we've done a promotional package, we've taken the monthly plan off our site."

Last month, Lowe stated that he didn't know if the movie-a-day offer would be available again. However, now the package is back, he defended the decision not to tell the public that it was only a temporarily removal. "It's marketing 101," he said. "We wanted to focus everybody on this partnership promotion. If people knew the [movie-a-day] plan was coming back, they might not be interested in the iHeartRadio deal."

The other change that MoviePass has instigated is prohibiting its users from seeing the same movie multiple times with their pass. Lowe explained that the company believes some families are using one card numerous times amongst different family members, and that this rule change would prohibit what it sees as fraud.

There has been much speculation that MoviePass's business model is not sustainable. The company pays theaters full price for the tickets its customers buy, and the company has been bleeding money and losing stock value. However, Lowe downplayed the company's financial problems. "We have a constantly evolving business model," he said. "We're getting more and more occasional moviegoers and cutting back on fraud and abuse. I feel very confident about our trend lines and I know we're going to continue as a going concern and continue to be popular."

Deadpool 2's IMAX Posters Are Hilarious And Bizarre

By Dan Auty on May 03, 2018 04:13 pm

The publicity campaign for the upcoming Deadpool 2 has become a slightly more traditional one over the past few weeks, with proper trailers and clips replacing the bizarre earlier promos. Nevertheless, the movie's posters have maintained a distinctly irreverent tone, and the hilarious new series of IMAX posters is no exception.

They are the results of a competition run by Fox and IMAX for Deadpool-loving members of the online art community DeviantArt. First place went to Andy Fairhurst, whose poster featuring Deadpool hitching a ride becomes the movie's official IMAX poster and will be seen in theaters across the US. Second place, which will become a mini-poster for fans, was an explosive effort by John Gallagher, while Patrick Brown's hilarious pink-horse-riding design will be made into a collectible ticket at Regal Cinemas.

The final trailer for Deadpool 2 was released last month, and it revealed the identity of some of the other members of X-Force, the superhero team Deadpool puts together to fight Cable. We already knew about Domino, and the video confirmed that Terry Crews is indeed playing Beldam. Beyond that, there was Shatterstar (played by Iron Fist's Lewis Tan), and er, Peter, a normal guy who replied to Deadpool's ad.

In related news, Reynolds recently revealed that he wasn't sure if there would be a Deadpool 3. An X-Force movie has been in development for some time, and the actor explained that he thought that would be the next film to feature the Merc with a Mouth. "It's an odd thing to say but I don't think there will be a Deadpool 3," he told Starnews Korea, via Slashfilm. "I think going forward it would be an X-Force movie, which would be his team, so to speak."
