Neverwinter, the MMORPG based on the classic Dungeons & Dragons franchise, has announced the June release date for its next free update on PS4 and Xbox One. Neverwinter: Shroud of Souls gives players a new adventure and new features, including the Loadouts function, which promises to make creating and switching out character builds easy.
This next update pits you against Morlanth, a dragonborn necromancer, who's escaped from captivity beneath the river district. She unleashes the Shroud of Souls, a spectral force under her command, and she seeks out spirits to act as generals in her army. Players are tasked with stopping her.
In addition to the new storyline, the Loadouts feature will allow you to "create customized character builds, complete with gear configurations" for quick swapping across Neverwinter's PvE, PvP, dungeons, and other situations.
Other improvements are coming to the game, too. Shroud of Souls features improvements to Strongholds guild gameplay, including a dynamic "Marauders" event, and a customizable Guild Hall social space where "players can relive their adventures with others and showcase their achievements."
Neverwinter: Shroud of Souls is out June 20 and is free-to-play digitally on Xbox One (with Xbox Live Gold) and PlayStation 4 (PlayStation Plus not required). It's also available on PC, and you can get all the details on its expansions by following our full coverage here.
The studio confirmed that Hardy will play Eddie Brock in the film, which is set to hit theaters in October 2018 and begins shooting this fall. In Marvel's comic books, Brock is a photographer and rival to Peter Parker, who becomes a host for the parasite and sets about to destroy him.
Sony announced Hardy's involvement with a photo of the actor wearing a Venom T-shirt:
Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock in #Venom, the upcoming film from Sony's Marvel Universe releasing October 5, 2018 – production starts this fall. pic.twitter.com/OZQqDEvoum
This isn't the first time that Hardy has played a villainous role in a superhero movie--in 2012 he portrayed Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. He will reunite with Nolan this summer in the World War 2 adventure Dunkirk.
Venom will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, who previously helmed the horror comedy Zombieland. It is unknown if there will be any connection between Venom and this year's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Sony holds the movie rights to Spider-Man and associated characters, and Marvel had to strike a deal with it to allow Spidey to become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Homecoming and last year's Captain America: Civil War.
Plans for a Venom movie actually predate the Marvel deal, and the film was originally intended to be part of the ongoing Spider-Man franchise that starred Andrew Garfield. That series ended after just two movies. Venom previously appeared in 2007's Spider-Man 3, in which Eddie Brock was played by Topher Grace.
During Destiny 2's big reveal event this week, Bungie showcased a portion of a story mission called Homecoming. You can check out about nine minutes of this early section of the game in the video above.
Fans of Crucible and Strikes are also in luck, as we've gotten to check out both of those in Destiny 2. At the bottom of this story, you'll find a complete match of the new Countdown mode in Crucible, as well as a complete Strike called Inverted Spire (directly below).
As for the Homecoming clip starts out with a cinematic sequence as the Tower comes under attack. We then see actual gameplay for the first time, as the player attempts to repel a Cabal assault on what had primarily served as a social space (and later a Crucible map) in the first Destiny.
The video shows off two new weapon types: the grenade launcher and a chaingun of sorts. Also on display are some new Super abilities, which you can read more about here. Following the segment on the Tower, the action moves to a Cabal ship. The video wraps up as the player encounters the big villain of Destiny 2, Ghaul, a Cabal warlord and the leader of the Red Legion. He ominously states, "Your journey ends here" as the demo comes to an end.
The latest entry in Bandai Namco's long-running fighting series, Tekken 7, is two weeks away from its worldwide release, and the publisher has set the stage for the game's launch with a new story trailer.
The video gives fans a preview of Tekken 7's plot, which sees the Mishima Clan's 20-year blood feud come to its climactic conclusion. As you'd expect from a series about martial arts, honor, and betrayal, the trailer features plenty of military-grade weaponry and earth-shaking explosions (though, sadly, no boxing kangaroos). You can watch the full video at the top of this story.
Before Tekken 7 brings the Mishimas' saga to a close, Bandai Namco is letting players catch up on the story so far with a series of humorous 8-bit trailers. The first installment covers the beginning of the clan's feud from the original Tekken through to 1998's Tekken 3.
Shadow Warrior 2 came out on PC last year, and now console players can get in on the action, too. Today, the game released digitally on PS4 and Xbox One, and for a limited time, players can get a bonus if they purchase it.
If you buy Shadow Warrior 2 from now until June 2, you'll get the original game for free on PS4 or Xbox One. In addition, during this two-week stretch, its price is discounted to $35 from its normal $40.
You can watch the console launch trailer above and check out a gallery of images at the bottom of this article. Shadow Warrior 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Flying Hog that tasks players with slaying demons using a wide array of guns, swords, and magic.
You can grab the two games on the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store. If you want both games and the discounted price, you have to buy "The Shadow Warrior Collection" on PS4 or "Shadow Warrior 2 - Launch Edition" on Xbox One.
Last year, GameSpot sat down with Flying Hog to talk about the game's development and design philosophy; you can check out our interview here. When it came out on PC, GameSpot critic Mat Paget gave it an 8/10, saying, "Picking off enemies one-by-one with a railgun, demolishing them point-blank with a shotgun, and ripping through them with a chainsaw are just a few of the exciting moments that make it hard to put down. However, if you want to experience its action-packed highs, then disregard its groan-inducing lows and skip the cutscenes."
Star Trek: Discovery, the upcoming CBS All Access original series, had its first trailer recently, finally giving fans a look to the highly anticipated show. You can check out the trailer for yourself here. Said trailer gave some insight into the characters from the new show, so let's check out everyone that's confirmed and a few characters we can speculate on.
We'll keep updating as more trailers for the show come out.
Disclosure: Star Trek Discovery is a CBS property, the parent company of GameSpot.
First Officer Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green)
Sonequa Martin-Green (Walking Dead) plays the lead role on the show as First Officer Michael Burnham. We know she's recently been put in position of power, and there is a lot of mystery revolving around her history. She is either part Vulcan or was raised on their home planet.
Lt. Saru (Doug Jones)
The only alien, aside from the Klingons, that the first trailer gives any depth is Lt. Saru, played by Doug Jones (Hellboy). He is part of an alien species new to the Star Trek universe. During the trailer, he says, "My people were biologically determined for one purpose alone, to sense the coming of death."
Sarek (James Frain)
James Frain (Gotham) makes an appearance as Sarek, who you may know from the original Star Trek television series as the father of Spock. He has a connection to Burnham. It's unclear what their exact relationship is, but it seems like he has been around her since she was a child.
Captain Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh)
The first character we see in the trailer is Captain Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).
Ensign Connor (Sam Vartholomeos)
We only see a couple of quick shots of Ensign Connor, played by Sam Vartholomeos. He is a Junior Officer on the USS Shenzhou.
T'Kuvma (Chris Obi)
The trailer sets up the Klingons as the villains for the show. We get to catch a of glimpse of Chris Obi (American Gods) as T'Kuvma, who is the the leader of the Klingon Empire. The Klingons look a bit different that the ones fans are used to seeing, like Worf from The Next Generation.
Unknown Alien
The trailer shows us a quick glimpse of a bizarre, hooded alien.
Unknown Cyborg/Android Crew Member
There are a few shots of other crew members of the USS Shenzhou. We see a crew member with cybernetic implants, or this could be an early android.
Unknown Alien Crew Member
Finally, there's an alien crew member on board the ship with a blue skin tone.
For a recap of this week's news, we've rounded up all of our Destiny 2 coverage below. That includes gameplay videos and galleries showcasing some of the new and adjusted subclasses. To find out more, you can also check out our Destiny 2 everything we know so far roundup.
Before today's big livestream, Bungie had announced Destiny 2's release date as September 8 alongside special editions of the game. Destiny 2 will have a season pass called the Expansion Pass, which includes "Expansion I and Expansion II, offering brand new story missions, cooperative activities, competitive multiplayer, and a wealth of new weapons, armor, and gear."

There's been no shortage of great comic book movies released over the last 10 years. Here are the 26 best, ranked by their Metacritic scores.
First: While Thor has fit seamlessly into The Avengers, the character's solo movies just don't seem to live up to their hype. The Dark World had the promise of an adventure on Asgard, but it didn't connect.
The film received a 54 on Metacritic.
25. Man of Steel
While you may be hard-pressed to find someone that's a fan of Zack Snyder's DC Extended Universe films--or his dark, gritty take on Superman--at least Henry Cavill looks the part of the titular Man of Steel. Unfortunately, the movie does him no justice.
The film received a 55 on Metacritic.
24. Watchmen
Zack Snyder's vision of the cult classic comic book isn't necessarily bad. Unfortunately, it's incredibly long and too complex for those that aren't already fans to understand. While it's a faithful adaptation of Alan Moore's original story, perhaps it could have been streamlined a bit more for film.
The film received a 56 on Metacritic.
22. Iron Man 2 (tie)
Iron Man 2's biggest problem is that it follows Iron Man, the incredibly well-received movie that kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Mickey Rourke, fresh of an Oscar nomination, stars opposite Robert Downey Jr. as the movie's villain Whiplash. Sadly, it all pales in comparison to the first outing.
This film received a 57 on Metacritic.
22. Thor (tie)
While better than its sequel, Thor had way too much backstory, both on Asgard and on Earth, to truly make a major impact. It also leaned heavier on comedy than any of the other Phase One films in the MCU, which leaves it as the odd movie out.
This film received a 57 on Metacritic.
21. Spider-Man 3
Packed with villains, a dancing Peter Parker and the introduction of Spidey's iconic black costume to little fanfare, Spider-Man 3 is such a strange film. While it was still a box office success--and entertaining in some parts--Sony opted to reboot the franchise rather than develop Spider-Man 4.
The film received a 59 on Metacritic.
20. The Wolverine
It would be hard for a sequel not to improve upon X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Adapting the Silver Samurai story from the comics, The Wolverine moved slowly but told a solid and interesting story in the X-Men universe.
This film received a 60 on Metacritic.
19. The Incredible Hulk
This is the strangest film in the MCU's Phase One. Five years after Ang Lee's Hulk, Marvel rebooted the character and recast Edward Norton in the role. The movie delivered better than anyone who watched Hulk could have imagined. Still, Norton was recast in future MCU movies by Mark Ruffalo.
This film received a 61 on Metacritic.
18. Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3 just didn't fit what fans expected of a comic book movie. Director Shane Black brought emotion back to Tony Stark and gave Downey's character a redemption story as he rebuilt himself, literally and figuratively.
This film received a 62 on Metacritic.
17. Ant-Man
Marvel took a turn with Ant-Man, presenting what was essentially a heist story that just so happened to involve superpowers. It was a nice change of pace for Marvel that opened a new avenue in the MCU.
This film received a 64 on Metacritic.
15. Deadpool (Tie)
The Merc with a Mouth finally got his time in the sun with the dirtiest, most vulgar comic book movie one could possibly imagine. Deadpool wouldn't fly in the MCU, but he fits surprisingly well in the X-Men universe and proved to everyone that R-rated superhero movies can be successful.
This film received a 65 on Metacritic.
15. X-Men: First Class (tie)
Many fans thought the X-Men franchise was dead after X-Men: The Last Stand. Instead, it went back in time to show the origins of several characters in the universe.
This film received a 65 on Metacritic.
12. Avengers: Age of Ultron (tie)
While the sequel to Marvel's Avengers wasn't quite as good as the first, it did illustrate how close the team of superheroes had become since their first adventure together. Unfortunately, crazed robot Ultron didn't prove to be a worthy adversary.
This film received a 66 on Metacritic.
12. The Amazing Spider-Man (tie)
The Amazing Spider-Man felt like more of a genuine adaptation than the trilogy that came before it thanks to Andrew Garfield playing up Peter Parker's more humorous side. That can't necessarily be said about its sequel, though.
This film received a 66 on Metacritic.
12. Captain America: The First Avenger (tie)
It's one of the most iconic stories in Marvel Comics history, and director Joe Johnston did it justice. Set during World War II, The First Avenger finds the right balance between action and heart while setting the stage for just how grand the MCU would become.
This film received a 66 on Metacritic.
11. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2
If there's such a thing as too much Baby Groot, it has yet to be seen. The second Guardians manages to expand the crazy world set up by the first movie, while also taking the time to focus on developing each and every one of the main characters. It's the rare sequel that lives up to the first movie in practically every way.
This film received a 67 on Metacritic.
10. The Avengers
Marvel's first superhero team up couldn't have gone much better. With a worthy villain in Loki, Avengers gave the team a reason to come together and made use of the cast's natural chemistry to create a truly special moment.
This film received a 69 on Metacritic.
9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Winter Soldier stands in the MCU as one of the best single superhero movies of all time. With a deeply personal story between Steve and Bucky, dazzling action moments and the destruction of S.H.I.E.L.D., Winter Soldier works on every level.
This film received a 70 on Metacritic.
8. Doctor Strange
As with Ant-Man, Doctor Strange broke the mold of what people expect from comic book movies. Instead of superpowers and storylines bogged down in continuity, it dealt with the mystic and set its hero on his own adventure.
This film received a 72 on Metacritic.
7. X-Men: Days of Future Past
With time travel as a tool, Days of Future Past bridged the original and new X-Men casts, making for a truly memorable experience in an effort to save the world. It also gave director Bryan Singer the chance to fix some of the things that left fans annoyed by The Last Stand--such as the death of Cyclops.
This film received a 74 on Metacritic.
6. Captain America: Civil War
Adapting one of the better modern comic book arcs, the film pits Iron Man against Captain America in a battle that tore the Avengers apart. It also introduced the newest Spider-Man, who was a welcome addition.
This film received a 75 on Metacritic.
5. Guardians of the Galaxy
The film that showed Marvel they could go outside of the box, Guardians took a little-known comic book team and made them mainstream heroes as they fought colorful alien monsters in space, all to a perfect soundtrack. As with Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, this movie benefits from not having to do any heavy-lifting of MCU continuity. The threads are there, though.
This film received a 76 on Metacritic.
4. Logan
Hugh Jackman's final adventure as Wolverine is also the best in the entire X-Men franchise. Taking a cue from Deadpool, Logan leaned heavily into R-rated territory, embracing the violence and gore that are a trademark of the Wolverine comics. That, mixed with newcomer Dafne Keen as a little girl with similar powers to Logan, created one of the most artistic comic book movies to date.
This film received a 77 on Metacritic.
3. The Dark Knight Rises
The final film in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy serves as a true ending to that version of the characters, something a lot of superhero franchises never get the chance to do. While there are some questionable choices made in the film--like Joseph Gordon Levitt's character's real name--Batman versus Bane proved to be an epic showdown. If only Bruce Wayne was in the cowl more often during the movie.
This film received a 78 on Metacritic.
2. Iron Man
Iron Man, the movie that launched the MCU, is great from top to bottom. Downey is inspired casting as Tony Stark and his journey from egotistical playboy to superhero is riveting.
This film received a 79 on Metacritic.
1. The Dark Knight
It's been called the Godfather II of comic book movies, and for good reason. The Dark Knight furthered the Batman mythology while introducing a truly legendary take on the Joker, with Heath Ledger embodying the painted madman in a way nobody else has before. This movie set the bar for what a superhero movie could be--a standard that will always be incredibly difficult to surpass.
The indie side-scrolling adventure game Owlboy is releasing for Nintendo Switch. The news was announced during the latest Japanese episode of Nintendo's YouTube series, The Cat Mario Show.
Owlboy was originally released for PC in 2016, though developer D-Pad Studio first began working on the title back in 2007. The game puts players in the role of Otus, the eponymous owl boy who is tasked with saving his village from a band of sky pirates. Otus must use his gift of flight to navigate through the game's complex stages. He can also team up with a number of other characters and use their unique abilities to battle enemies and bosses while he ferries them through the air.
Despite its protracted development cycle, Owlboy was met with critical acclaim when it released. In our Owlboy review, we called the title "a heartfelt experience that will touch anyone with an affinity for great art and storytelling" and awarded it 9/10. It also earned the #18 spot on our Game of the Year 2016 Countdown.
At the moment, Owlboy hasn't been announced for any other platforms. Similarly, no pricing or release details for the Switch version have been revealed just yet.
Destiny 2 was officially revealed yesterday, and developer Bungie talked a lot about what's new and improved. The question was inevitably raised, though, about the possibility of the game coming to Switch. Unfortunately for Switch fans, Bungie isn't planning on bringing the game to Nintendo's new console any time soon.
Talking with IGN, project lead Mark Noseworthy stated that the developer isn't working on a port and doesn't think that the game would work on Switch. "I think it's pretty unrealistic, given we're an online-only game, right?" he said. "[The Switch is] incredible, I love the console, but in terms of where it's at, I don't want to leave anyone with the possibility of, like, 'It's a thing we'll consider, maybe next year.' There's no plans right now for Switch."
Bungie is bringing Destiny 2 to a new platform, however. The first Destiny was only on consoles, but Destiny 2 will have a fully featured PC version, replete with graphics options such as unlocked frame rates and a variety of resolutions. GameSpot talked a lot about the PC version with Noseworthy, which you can read here.
Injustice 2 has landed, and one of the most engrossing aspects of the game is collecting gear for your favorite hero or villain. Gear not only looks cool, but it can also significantly boost a character's attributes.
With nearly 30 characters to choose from, five gear slots apiece, and dozens (if not hundreds) of items to collect, there are countless ways to customize and upgrade your fighter of choice. We've only scratched the surface, but have already discovered a handful of awesome gear that's caught our eye. We've compiled a collection of our favorite items thus far, for characters like Superman, Dr. Fate, and Black Adam, to name a few.
If you're still on the fence regarding Injustice 2, check out our review, or take a look at our footage of high-level battles in the game's chaotic Multiverse mode.
