Steam's New Stats Page Reveals Huge Number Of Refund Requests

By Chris Pereira on May 04, 2017 12:27 am

Valve has shared some new insight into the speed with which it handles Steam support requests, even launching a new tracker to let you see how things are going.

A new blog post from Valve discusses the ongoing efforts to improve Steam's support operations. And while it didn't provide much new information about specifically how it continues to evolve its customer support, it does highlight just how big the task is. Valve currently sees an average of about 75,000 help requests every day, and recently it's averaged just under 10,000 requests per day that were left awaiting a response. That's a big decline from the 50,000-plus that fell in that category in January and February.

"Our goal going forward is to keep the backlog of requests shrinking and to be able to respond to all requests as quickly as possible," Valve explained.

Coinciding with this blog post, Valve has launched a stats page for support requests. This shows both the number of submitted requests on any given day and the number that are waiting for a response from Valve.

The page also breaks requests down into specific categories. This reveals how many refund requests or account security questions have been submitted over the past 24 hours, along with the typical response time. As of this writing, the last day has seen just over 48,000 refund requests, which were typically answered in 1.35 to 1.99 hours.

Support is just one area of Steam that Valve has worked to overhaul in recent years. As with all online stores, discoverability is major problem due to the massive number of games released on it. A store redesign launched late last year, though, like all of Steam, it remains a work-in-progress.

Sony's E3 2017 Press Conference Dated

By Chris Pereira on May 04, 2017 12:20 am

Sony has begun sending out invites to the press for its E3 press briefing, confirming the event's time and date.

The PlayStation E3 Media Showcase, as it's officially called, will take place on Monday, June 12, at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET (2 AM GMT on June 13). Sony is headed back to the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, the same location as last year's event.

No Caption Provided

This is the usual timeslot Sony has occupied for its E3 briefing, just ahead of the conference's start later in the week. Microsoft, on the other hand, has moved its standard Monday briefing back to Sunday, June 11, when Bethesda will also have its now-annual briefing. EA's EA Play will be taking place from June 10-12.

Sony didn't provide any word of what it'll be showing, but you can expect it to be the usual array of upcoming games for PlayStation 4 and (hopefully) PlayStation Vita. There's no indication that it'll talk about new hardware amidst a recent rumor that it will introduce a next-gen PlayStation system in 2018.

As always, GameSpot will bring you all the news from Sony's conference--and all of E3--in June.

New Titanfall Real-Time Strategy Game Announced For Mobile Devices

By Alex Newhouse on May 04, 2017 12:08 am

There's a new Titanfall game in the works, but it's not another first-person shooter. Developer Respawn today announced Titanfall: Assault, a real-time strategy game for iOS and Android devices.

Respawn is working with mobile publishing house Nexon and developer Particle City to create the game, which requires players to build up armies of Pilots and Titans. In a press release, the developer stated that it's a player vs. player, "strategic objective-based" experience.

It states that players will have to create a "deck" of Titans, Pilots, and Burn Cards, the one-time-use perks that were in the original Titanfall. One of the screenshots released by the developer shows what looks like an inventory, where different units are stored before being deployed in-game.

"The PvP matchups play out across different maps across the Frontier War and will require opponents to create and deploy their custom squad on the battlefield in order to outmaneuver enemy forces and win valuable rewards on the leaderboards," the statement reads.

You can check out some screenshots from the game below.

It's unclear at this time when Titanfall: Assault will be released, but you can pre-register on the game's website which will get you a Prometheus Titan card reward at launch.

PSA: Zelda Majora's Mask, Bayonetta Amiibo Figures Now Available For Preorder

By Chris Pereira on May 03, 2017 11:28 pm

A pair of store-exclusive Amiibo figures are now available for preorder ahead of their respective releases this summer.

In the US, Best Buy is the only retailer where you'll find the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask figure and the Bayonetta "Player 2" figures. The Zelda figure features a young Link holding a Goron mask, while the Bayonetta one shows the eponymous character striking a pose with her handguns. They each cost the standard $13 price, or $10.39 if you're a Gamers Club Unlocked member.

Amiibo availability has improved since the early days, but collectors will likely want to ensure that they get their hands on them by preordering.

The Majora's Mask figure was first announced in April alongside two others, while a Bayonetta figure was first confirmed in 2015. A handful of upcoming figures are being released as store exclusives, including alternate "Player 2" versions of Final Fantasy VII's Cloud, Fire Emblem Fates' Corrin, and Bayonetta. Standard versions of those three will be available at all retailers.

All three new Zelda Amiibo figures launch on June 23, while the Bayonetta, Cloud, and Corrin ones will follow on July 21.

By Patrick Faller on May 03, 2017 10:32 pm

If you've been wanting to try Tom Clancy's The Division before you buy, this weekend is your best chance. The full game will be available on a free trial from Thursday, May 4, until Sunday. The current trial, which allows you to play until you reach level 8 or 6 hours of game time, will be suspended and instead the full game will be playable.

The start and end times vary depending on which timezone you're in and which platform you're playing the game on. Here they are:

No Caption Provided

The Division takes place weeks after a devastating pandemic sweeps through New York City. The Division, an autonomous unit of tactical agents leading seemingly ordinary lives, is tasked with saving society. It is an open-world RPG with multiplayer elements, and it has now entered its second year.

In March, Ubisoft announced The Division would be getting three more free DLC expansions throughout 2017. The first DLC expansion of the year, expected soon, includes limited-time events that pay out rewards for participation, completion, and competition. The second expansion includes loadouts, and the third will add an in-game achievement rewards system.

Starting during the free trial this weekend, you will also be able to buy the full version of The Division at special promotional prices across all platforms until May 15. You can get the latest details on the new DLC content as they come out by following our full coverage here on GameSpot.

3DS's Fire Emblem Remake Has A $45 Season Pass, Here's What It Includes

By Chris Pereira on May 03, 2017 09:16 pm

Nintendo describes the upcoming Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia as a "massive" game, but those who want even more to do will have no shortage of DLC to further bolster the experience.

Nintendo today outlined its DLC plans for Echoes, with a total of five packs on the way. These will add new dungeons, maps, story content, and classes. The first one will be available on launch day, with three more due out by June 1. Details on the fifth pack have not yet been specified.

Here's how Nintendo describes them all:

  • DLC Pack #1 -- Fledgling Warriors Pack (May 19, $7.99/£7.19/€7,99, three pieces of content): Ideal for early- to mid-game adventurers, this pack includes a new dungeon (The Astral Temple) and two new maps, great for gaining more items, money and experience points.
  • DLC Pack #2 -- Undaunted Heroes Pack (May 25, $9.99/£8.99/€9,99, three pieces of content): In addition to a new dungeon (The Inner Sanctum), this pack also includes two challenging new maps that stronger, more seasoned heroes will want to tackle.
  • DLC Pack #3 -- Lost Altars Pack (May 25, $14.99/£13.49/€14,99, 10 pieces of content): The mysterious dungeons included in this pack hold the power to upgrade characters to exclusive classes that don't appear in the main game.
  • DLC Pack #4 -- Rise of the Deliverance Pack (June 1, $12.99/£11.69/€12,99, four pieces of content): Discover the previously untold history of Valentia in this Prologue pack. Complete with new story content and additional voice acting that details the rise of the Deliverance in Zofia, this collection of challenging maps includes new support conversations between selected heroes, as well as the ability to take command of a character players won't be able to control in the main game.
  • DLC Pack #5 ($5.99/ £4.49/€4,99, two pieces of content): More information about this final DLC pack will be revealed in the future.

Those interested in all of this can pick up a season pass, which consists of all five DLC packs, for $45/£39.99/€44,99. That saves you about $7 over buying each pack on its own.

Another alternative is to only buy specifically what you want. Nintendo says all of the "individual components" can be purchased separately, although pricing wasn't shared.

Alongside this paid content, free DLC is also on the way, but only for a limited time. This starts with "a special gift from Goddess Mila" that will be available starting on launch day. The DLC trailer above suggests this may be as simple as an in-game item.

Fire Emblem Echoes launches on May 19 for 3DS. It's a sort of reimagining of the second entry in the series, the Japan-only Fire Emblem Gaiden. It features free-roaming and 3D dungeons, as well as a variety of other new mechanics.

Xbox's Project Scorpio Dev Kit Shown Off In New Video

By Tamoor Hussain on May 03, 2017 08:42 pm

A short video showing off the Project Scorpio developer unit has been posted online by Windows Central's Jez Corden.

The video provides a look at the front of the unit, which includes a small screen that displays technical information such as the current game's framerate.

Above it are buttons which can be programmed to adjust what is shown on the screen. Both features will no doubt be very useful for developers. In terms of the overall form factor, the Project Scorpio dev kit looks very similar to the Xbox One S, as noted when images of it were previously released.

The first pictures of the Scorpio development kit were made public in early April, around the same time the specs for what will be Microsoft's newest addition to the Xbox One family were detailed.

Microsoft says Scorpio is the most powerful console ever made and that it will be more powerful than the PlayStation 4 Pro. It is designed to run games at native 4K and will still support Xbox One games, controllers, and accessories.

The new console is due to launch this holiday, but Microsoft hasn't said when it will properly unveil the final unit and give it an official name. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said he is unsure if Microsoft will show off Project Scorpio before E3 in June.

Free PS4/Xbox One Open Beta For Smite Dev's Paladins Now Live

By Chris Pereira on May 03, 2017 08:30 pm

The open beta for Paladins, the new free-to-play shooter from the developer of Smite, is now available on both PS4 and Xbox One.

Paladins is a team-based first-person shooter that has drawn no shortage of comparisons to Overwatch. It features 24 different characters (or Champions, as Paladins calls them) but allows them to be customized using a card loadout system. You can check out the cinematic launch trailer above.

The game is already available on PC, where it remains in early access on Steam. It's proved to be hugely popular there; developer Hi-Rez Studios claims it was the "most-played new Steam game of 2016." It still occupies a spot in the top 15 games on Steam.

Comparisons to Overwatch have been a source of controversy for Paladins, as the similarities between some characters in the two games are extreme. Hi-Rez has denied that it's an Overwatch clone, which you can read more about that in our chat with its developer about the accusations it's faced.

With the beta kicking off today, GameSpot is giving away a limited number of codes for a skin that's usable on PC, PS4, or Xbox One. You can claim yours here.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Guerrilla Games' community manager, Jeroen Roding, detailed the options coming to Photo Mode. Prey Launch Trailer Shows Space Station Chaos, Watch It Here

By Oscar Dayus on May 03, 2017 07:30 pm

Bethesda's sci-fi adventure game Prey is out on Friday, May 5, and its launch trailer has been released to celebrate.

The video shows off some of the abilities you'll be able to develop on board your spaceship, Talos I, as well as showcasing the numerous enemies that will be hunting you down as you go. Take a look at the full trailer above.

We also get a brief glimpse at the player-character's brother, Alex Yu. Alex is the boss of Talos I, and developer Arkane said recently that the space station will change depending on your relationship with the character.

Today, we learned what's included in Prey's day one patch. The update includes a load of bug fixes, as well as support for English dialogue no matter which region your game is from.

Addressing concerns that the game might be buggy on some platforms, Arkane has stated that it "doubled" its thoroughness in working on the title's PC version after Dishonored 2--from the same company--suffered from a multitude of problems on the platform. Many players seem to be impressed by the game's Opening Hour demo, though that is only available on consoles.

The PC version's minimum and recommended specs were also revealed recently, and the game's soundtrack is available now.

Prey is a reimagining of the 2006 original, and a replacement for the canceled sequel to that game that was in development at Human Head Studios.

The new title is seen by some as a spiritual successor to the 1994 game System Shock, while we also think it's been inspired by BioShock.

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare's New Update And Weapons Out Now

By Alex Newhouse on May 03, 2017 06:32 pm

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's next patch is now live, alongside a couple of new weapons and camos. The update, announced by developer Infinity Ward on Reddit, includes a lot of bug fixes and tweaks but also a few substantial content additions. You can see the full patch notes at the bottom of this article.

Headlining the patch is the addition of Scorestreak Variants, which change the look and behavior of scorestreaks in the game. There are now Rare, Legendary, and Epic variants of scorestreaks, but you can only get the variants through crafting. They're essentially modifications for existing scorestreaks: for example, the Rare UAV variant is painted blue and lasts longer than the normal UAV, but it also has lower health, according to Reddit user xKevinn.

In addition, the patch includes a new voiceover pack from Ozzy Man Reviews, a popular YouTube personality. This is the latest pack to be added to Infinite Warfare; recently, Infinity Ward added a Method Man voiceover pack.

Finally, Infinity Ward also updated the Quartermaster with two new guns. The Auger is a chaingun-style LMG, while the Trencher is an SMG fitted with an under-barrel grenade launcher. There are also a number of new weapon camos and accessories available. You can check out the trailer for the Quartermaster update above.

Prey Day One Patch Detailed, Here's What It Does

By Oscar Dayus on May 03, 2017 05:19 pm

Prey isn't out until May 5, but it's already got a new patch to download if you've got an early copy of the game.

The update fixes a bunch of bugs, which ranged from frame rate and crash issues to gameplay problems such as grenades exploding when you pick them up. With the 1.3 GB update installed, these issues should now be resolved.

In addition, you can now switch all dialogue lines to English, no matter which region your game is from. Co-creative director Raphael Colantonio also said on Twitter recently that the game's audio, which some players thought was overbearing when under threat from enemies, has been remixed in the game's final build.

Take a look at the full patch notes at the bottom of this article, via Gadgets360. Note that the list comes from the PlayStation 4 version of the game; the Xbox One and PC update may differ.

Prey's developer, Arkane, said recently that it "doubled" its thoroughness in working on the title's PC version after Dishonored 2--from the same company--suffered from a multitude of problems on the platform. Many players seem to be impressed by the game's Opening Hour demo, though that is only available on consoles.

See Crash Bandicoot PS4 Remaster's Upgraded Graphics In New Gameplay

By Oscar Dayus on May 03, 2017 04:39 pm

Some new Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy gameplay has been revealed, showing off another level from Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back.

The video, which you can watch below, shows a full playthrough of the of the subterranean level, Sewer or Later. In particular, the footage highlights the game's upgraded lighting and water effects. We also get a look at the new character models for enemies and a glimpse of the mid-level bonus section.

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy includes three old-school Crash games: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot: Warped. They were all originally made by Naughty Dog, though Activision's Vicarious Visions is making the PlayStation 4 game.

Vicarious Visions used the original games' level geometry, but the gameplay is rebuilt from scratch. Some new features for the updated versions include a unified checkpoint and save system (including manual and auto-saving), as well as a unified menu system. There will also be time trials available for each game.

The collection launches for PlayStation 4 on June 30, though it may not be exclusive to Sony's console. The original three games included in the pack, plus driving title Crash Team Racing and party game Crash Bash, were all exclusive to PlayStation when they were originally released, but subsequent games in the series have appeared on multiple platforms.

For more on the upcoming collection, you can take a look at another Cortex Strikes Back level, Hang Eight, or check out the game's introductory cutscene.

Nintendo Explains Why The New 2DS XL Exists

By Oscar Dayus on May 03, 2017 03:45 pm

Nintendo recently announced another model in its long-running 3DS line: the New 2DS XL combines the screen size and clamshell form factor of the 3DS XL, the built-in NFC capability of the New Nintendo 3DS, and the budget price associated with the 2DS.

With so many different iterations of the console now available--not forgetting the standard 3DS or the New 3DS--some people have wondered why the New 2DS XL exists at all.

Now, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has said the device is for consumers who want something "in between" the 2DS and the 3DS XL.

"The Nintendo 2DS really focused on that entry level gamer," he told Time. "The four-, five-, six-year old that is just getting into gaming, but wants to play Mario Kart, wants to have a Super Mario Bros. experience, wants to play Pokémon. And we feel with Nintendo 3DS XL at $199 that it's a fully-featured product, that it is, if you will, the Cadillac of handheld gaming. And then we heard from consumers, 'Boy, I wish there was something in between.'" That's why the company decided to make the 2DS XL, says Fils-Aime.

The executive had previously said the that the device "still packs the same power" of the New Nintendo 3DS XL.

The Nintendo 2DS originally launched in 2013. Billed as an entry-level device for children, the system features two screens but no clamshell hinge and no 3D capability. It launched at $130, before Nintendo cut the price down to $80 / £80.

The New 2DS XL, meanwhile, will launch on July 28 in North America and Europe, priced at $149 / £133. Australian players will get it earlier on June 15, costing AU $200.

The announcement of this system came not long after Nintendo launched the Switch. The system debuted in March and has sold 2.74 million units by Nintendo's latest count.

First Dark Tower Trailer Pits The Gunslinger Against The Man In Black

By Dan Auty on May 03, 2017 03:38 pm

The first trailer for The Dark Tower is here. The long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King's classic series of novels hits theatres in August, and the new video promises a mix of lavish fantasy and spectacular gunslinging action. Check it out below:

The movie stars Idris Elba as The Gunslinger, while Matthew McConaughey plays demonic sorcerer The Man in Black. It also features Tom Taylor as young protagonist Jake, plus Katheryn Winnick (Vikings), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), Dennis Haysbert (24), and Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road). A poster was released in March--check it out here.

The Dark Tower was originally set to hit theaters in February, but the release date was subsequently moved back to the summer. At the time, it was reported that the ambitious post-production process meant that hitting a February release would have added millions to the budget, so Sony decided to delay the film instead.

There has also been talk of a Dark Tower TV show. In September, it was reported that an adaptation of 1997's Wizard and Glass, the fourth book in King's epic series, was being planned.

However, more recently, producer Ron Howard stated that while a show was in development, it was far from definite. "[There's] not a commitment on the television side," he told TV Guide last month. "But creatively, it could work very well, hand in hand with what we'd like the movies to be."

The Dark Tower hits theaters on August 4, 2017.

More Details On Next Game From Quantum Break Dev Revealed

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 12:16 pm

Remedy Entertainment, the studio behind games like Alan Wake and Quantum Break, has reached a deal with 505 Games for its next project, which is codenamed P7. The global publishing deal covers P7's physical and digital release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

As part of the deal, 505 Games is giving Remedy €7.75 million ($8.46 million) in funding for the development of the game. 505 will also market and publish the game, with the company getting a royalty rate of 45 percent on P7's game sales.

The announcement also contains some details on P7, which until now has been shrouded in almost complete secrecy. It's billed as a "cinematic third-person action game" set in a universe that Remedy created.

"Featuring an intriguing story and a game structure offering a long-lasting experience, P7 contains the deepest game mechanics yet in a Remedy game," the press release said, adding that the game runs on Remedy's internal Northlight engine.

"We have a strong vision of what P7 should be," Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said. "505 Games brings into this partnership experience and competences that help us successfully make this vision become reality together. Remedy is also investing in P7 and is deeply committed to creating an unique gaming experience that will keep the players engaged and playing for a long time to come. We are really excited to embark on this journey with 505 Games."

We'll report back with more details on P7 as they are announced.

In addition to P7, Remedy is making the sequel to CrossFire in partnership with Korean studio Smilegate.

It remains to be seen if Remedy will make a sequel to Quantum Break or Alan Wake. Quantum Break "sold really well," Microsoft marketing boss Aaron Greenberg said last year. At the same time, he made it sound like there won't be a sequel. "Just like every movie, not every game needs a sequel," he said.

On the subject of Alan Wake, Remedy has said time and again that it has ideas for a new game in the series, though it looks like it's not happening soon.

What are you hoping to see from Remedy's next game? Let us know in the comments below!

New Video Shows What The Witcher 3 Looks Like Running In 8K

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 10:59 am

It's not the first time we're seeing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 8K, but a new gameplay video shows off the celebrated RPG running at super-high resolution.

Specifically, this video from Thirty IR (via Kotaku), shows the RPG at 7680 x 4320 (60fps/8k) on max settings, which is pretty wild. Features like Nvidia Hairworks, HBAO+, and "other settings" are turned on for this gameplay video. Thirty IR also says you may want to use Chrome or Edge browsers. You need to select 4320p60 on the video's settings to see in full-HD. You will need an 8K display to get the most of the video, and those are probably not in many homes. The video is more to say that such a thing exists.

This video was captured using a two-rig setup. Here's a rundown of the beefy specs for the two systems, called the "Uber Rig" and the "Asus RoG Swift (G-Sync) Rig."

Uber Rig

  • GPUs: 4x GTX TITAN Xp (2017) 4 WAY SLI @ 2038Mhz / 13358Mhz
  • MoBo: Asus Rampage V Extreme (X99)
  • CPU: i7 6950X @ 4.30GHz
  • RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 3200Mhz (64GB)

Asus RoG Swift (G-Sync) Rig

  • GPUs: 4x GTX 1080 Ti 4 WAY SLI @ 2025Mhz / 12110Mhz
  • MoBo: ASRock Extreme11 (X79)
  • CPU: i7 3970X @ 4.80GHz
  • RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3 2133Mhz (32GB)

Last year, images showing The Witcher 3 running at 8K popped up online--you can get more details and see the images for yourself here on Reddit.

In other news, Conan O'Brien revealed that the Witcher 3 Clueless Gamer episode was his favorite because "I got to have sex on a unicorn."

This post has been updated to mention the requirements of watching in 8K.

Moviegoers Will Eat 250 Miles Worth Of Hot Dogs This Summer, AMC Predicts

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 10:25 am

In celebration of the launch of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's release this Friday, kicking off the summer blockbuster season, theater chain AMC Theatres announced some huge stats about how much food and drinks will be consumed over the coming months.

The company said in a news release that it expects people to order 250 miles worth of hog dogs, which, if lined up end to end, would cover the space between Hollywood and the Hoover Dam.

Eight million pounds of popcorn are expected to be consumed during the summer moviegoing season at AMC Theatres locations. In terms of drinks, AMC predicts that 30 million liters will be consumed, which comes out to around 1 billion ounces.

AMC also announced some new alcoholic beverages coming this summer at its locations that serve booze. These include the "Banana Hammock" for Baywatch and "The Gauntlet" for Wonder Woman.

As Deadline points out, concessions are no small element of AMC's bottom line. In 2016, revenue from food and drinks passed $1 billion for the first time ever.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens this Friday in the United States. It already opened in a number of international markets and has made more than $100 million. For more, check out GameSpot's review.

iPhone Sales Fall, CEO Explains Why That Might Be

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 10:00 am

Tech giant Apple reported earnings for its fiscal second quarter ended April 1 today, showing increases in revenue and profit, though iPhone sales dropped (a little).

For the quarter, Apple hauled $52.9 billion in revenue, compared to $50.6 billion during the same period last year. Profit was $11.03 billion, which is up from $10.5 billion last year.

No Caption Provided

Apple sold 50.76 million iPhones during the three-month period, which is down from 51.19 million for the same period last year. iPad sales amounted to 8.9 million units, down from 10.2 million last year. Mac sales grew slightly, rising from 4.03 million to 4.19 million for the period.

Speaking about the lower iPhone sales, Apple CEO Tim Cook told CNBC, "We are seeing a kind of delay in purchasing behavior that we think is a consequence of the number of rumors and reports about future products.

"That is happening. However, if you look at iPhone outside of greater China, iPhone units grew very nicely," he added. "We had more upgraders in the first half than ever before. And we had more switchers than ever before. There is a lot of good news in there."

Injustice 2 DLC News Coming Soon, Ed Boon Asks What You Want To See

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 07:40 am

NetherRealm will announce details on Injustice 2's downloadable content "soon," studio boss Ed Boon said on Twitter today with a wonderful Conan O'Brien/Andy Richter animated GIF.

"We suspect you will like what you hear!" he teased.

In another tweet, Boon asked his followers to vote on if they'd like to Injustice 2's DLC include characters that were not in Injustice: Gods Among Us or those new to the series. The options in the vote are "Yes!" and "No! All new fighters." There was no option for a mix of the two.

This is just a Twitter poll, so whatever the results turn out to be (we'll know tomorrow), it doesn't necessarily mean much or anything about what Injustice 2 ends up doing for DLC.

Also on Twitter, Boon confirmed that Injustice 2's DLC will not included Boon himself as a playable character. "Nope," he said when someone asked about this.

In other news, Joker has been confirmed for Injustice 2's roster. You can see all the confirmed characters here.

Injustice 2's release date is slated for May 16 on PS4 and Xbox One.

JK Rowling Apologizes For Killing Snape

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 07:01 am

May 2 is a big day in the Harry Potter universe, as it's the day that the Battle of Hogwarts took place. Author JK Rowling marks the day each year by apologizing for the death of a character from the series.

Last year, it was Remus Lupin. This year, it's an even more prominent character: Severus Snape. "OK, here it is," Rowling said on Twitter. "Please don't start flame wars over it, but this year I'd like to apologise for killing (whispers)... Snape. *runs for cover*"

Snape, a former Death Eater and professor at Hogwarts, is one of the more interesting and compelling characters from across the Harry Potter series. He made things rough for Harry at school, but he did save his life ultimately and played a very important role in defeating Voldemort.

Harry named one of his children, Albus Severus, after Snape.

In 2015, Rowling apologized for killing Fred Weasley during the Battle of Hogwarts. "Fred was the worst for me, so I started with him," she said about her plan to mark the battle's anniversary every year by recalling a character's death.

Listen To Prey's Eerie And Atmospheric Soundtrack Right Now

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 06:21 am

One of the best parts of id Software's new shooter Doom was its brutally heavy soundtrack. The composer, Mick Gordon, also did the music for another Bethesda game, the soon-to-launch Prey. Now, you can stream or purchase the entire soundtrack ahead of the game's release on Friday.

As you'll immediately notice, Gordon's music for Prey is quite different than Doom. The overall vibe is eerie and tense, featuring tracks with a lot of synth beats and an atmospheric tone.

No Caption Provided

In addition to Gordon, Ben Crossbones, Matt Piersall, and Raphael Colantonio (the president of developer Arkane) are credited on the Prey soundtrack.

You can listen to the Prey soundtrack right here in this post through the Spotify embed below. It's also available through places like Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music, and Google Play.

Prey launches on May 5, but you can play the game's first hour right now on PS4 and Xbox One through a free demo.

GameSpot recently spoke with Colantonio, who told us that Arkane is confident that Prey's PC version won't suffer through the same issues as Dishonored 2. We'll have our full interview with Colantonio coming up later this week.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies Chronicles Headed To PS4, Xbox One, And PC - Report

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 06:05 am

It looks like Call of Duty: WWII may not be the only Call of Duty game coming soon.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board published and then removed a listing for something called Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombie Chronicles. The rating covered PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and was spotted by CharlieIntel, where you can see the full ratings description for the unannounced game.

This is not the first time we're hearing about Zombies Chronicles. Retailers from Poland and Mexico apparently leaked the existence of the game, which is rumored to feature eight Zombies maps from past Black Ops games remastered for Black Ops III, according to CharlieIntel.

Treyarch is reportedly planning some kind of announcement for May 4 at 10 AM PT, which could be Zombies Chronicles, though this is of course not confirmed. GameSpot has followed up with Activision in an attempt to get more details.

Activision has an earnings call coming up later this week, so we'll have even more news about the company very soon. Keep checking back for the latest.

As for Call of Duty: WWII, the shooter launches in November. You can learn more about it through GameSpot's previous coverage here.

By Eddie Makuch on May 03, 2017 04:53 am

Looking for something new to play on your Nintendo Switch?

The Nintendo Switch eShop has been updated with a pair of new games. You can now pick up the "deceptively deep roguelike" TumbleSeed ($15) and the next classic NeoGeo game, Blazing Star ($8).

No Caption Provided

Both are small games, as TumbleSeed comes in at 506MB, while Blazing Star, which was originally released in 1998, is only 96MB. TumbleSeed is a single-player game, while Blazing Star supports up to two players.

Last week saw the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, while Minecraft is coming on May 11, so the big games keep coming. Nintendo has said it is important for the viability of the Switch to release games at a steady clip.

In other Switch news, Nintendo recently said it believes the console can reach "relative parity" with the Wii, which was one of the most successful consoles ever.
