This week in hardware deals features plenty of options for expanding or speeding up your system's storage with a spacious hard disk drive and a few solid-state drives. But there are still great prices on other components such as a budget processor, high quality headphones, and a mechanical keyboard.
However, if you're in the market for a new 4K television, you may want to scroll down to this week's big ticket item.
Feel free to share any other great sales on hardware and electronics in the comments!
Samsung is known for making top-notch storage drives and its 850 EVO SSDs are no exception. It's hard to find an SSD with 500GB at this price, let alone a reliable one. It offers 540MB/s of max read speed and 520MB/s of max write speed.
The 512GB model of this ADATA SSD was on sale last week, but if you missed it, you can snag the smaller 256GB drive at a nice discount. It can read up to 560MB/s and write up to 520MB/s.
This hard drive from Seagate offers a whole lot of space for a reasonable price. Make sure you use the promo code to get it for $219.99, which results in $180 off from its list price.
If you're looking for a ton of storage to take on the go, this external hard drive from Western Digital has you covered. This particular offer slices $120 off the drive's list price.
HyperX's Cloud line of headsets have a reputation for their comfort and high quality audio, and you can swoop up a set for $39.99. Just note that these are refurbished, and you can get a brand new set for $49.99 if you prefer.
Sennheiser headphones are known for their incredible audio quality, and the HD 598 headphones are regarded as one of the best at the consumer-level. The HD 558 headphones aren't too far off. In fact, the HD 558 uses the same audio drivers, but has a slightly different design. These come with velour padding for the ear cups and headband
Corsair has a wealth of options in mechanical keyboards, but they can be fairly pricey. This model of the K70 is on sale for $20 off its regular price. It comes with a palm rest, red backlighting, and either Cherry MX Brown or Blue switches.
Processors can be expensive, even in budget PC builds. However, a good dual-core CPU can still get the job done when it comes to gaming. While this offer only takes $10 off the G4560's list price, you have to save as much as you can if your budget is tight.
If you don't have the means for a robust liquid cooling solution for your CPU, don't fret. The Scythe Mugen 5 is regarded as one of the better air coolers and you can save a few bucks with this deal.
4K televisions are becoming much more affordable, and plenty of sales (like this one that takes $250 off) makes ultra-high-definition even more accessible. This particular model from Samsung is also HDR capable. Take note that it is curved, so you'll want to consider the viewing distance in your own setup.
Yet another super-expensive video game statue is on the way. This one stands nearly three feet tall and is based on the Hunter, the playable character from Bloodborne.
Designed by Prime 1 Studio, the statue pictured below is specifically based on Bloodborne's DLC expansion, The Old Hunters. It stands 32 inches (about 81 cm) tall and is priced at $800.
The statue comes with an interchangeable street lamp and pillar, as well as two different right hands, each with a different weapon: one holding a Saw Cleaver, and one holding a Hunter Axe. An exclusive edition also features a third right hand option, which is equipped with the Theaded Cane weapon.
As is always the case with these premium, high-end statues, availability is limited. Only 2,000 of the regular edition and 1,250 of the exclusive version will be produced, according to Prime 1's Facebook page. The exclusive edition is available from Sideshow Collectibles and lists an estimated release window of July-September of 2018. It's available for preorder now.
This isn't the first high-end Bloodborne statue we've seen. The Hunter has been featured in a few other statues in the $200-$300 range, while Prime 1 has also designed a $600 version of Lady Maria that's also due out in 2018.
While it can't play games in 4K, the Xbox One S does offer 4K media playback. As of a recent update, that includes content played through the Amazon Video app.
Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One's Amazon Video app has been updated to enable 4K support. This functionality is only available on the Xbox One S, given that the standard Xbox One doesn't support 4K output.
Of course, not everything in the Amazon Video app is necessarily available in 4K. Among the things that do support 4K are Amazon-produced shows like The Man in the High Castle, Bosch, Sneaky Pete, and Top Gear successor The Grand Tour.
Amazon's Xbox One app joins existing ones such as Netflix and Hulu, both of which already offered 4K playback support on Xbox One S. If you have the Amazon Video app installed, it should automatically update to add 4K support. If you don't, you can grab it for free on the Xbox Store and sign up for a 30-day trial that allows you to access Amazon's video library.
The fifth and final episode of Telltale's current Walking Dead season, A New Frontier, is just over a week away.
Telltale has officially announced a release date for Episode 5 of A New Frontier. It launches on May 30 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android. If you own the game's season pass, you'll be able to automatically download it then. A physical release of A New Frontier is already available.
In a blog post, Telltale describes it as the "most tailored episode to date," given that you'll be working with all of the decisions you've made throughout the previous four episodes. At some point during the coming week, Telltale plans to release both a gameplay trailer and a video featuring some of the developers discussing the episode. Stay tuned to GameSpot for a look at those.
A New Frontier is the third season of Telltale's episodic Walking Dead games. It made its debut late last year, when its first two episodes launched simultaneously. You can read GameSpot's reviews for the first four episodes through the links below.
There has been much uncertainty about the future of the Terminator franchise, following the commercial disappointment of 2015's Terminator: Genisys. Now original star Arnold Schwarzenegger has weighed in on the subject, and has stated that the series will continue.
Speaking to Screen Daily from the Cannes Film Festival, Schwarzenegger confirmed that he had met with James Cameron, who created the series and directed the first two movies. "It is back," he said. "It is moving forward. [Cameron] has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise. I will be in the movie."
The rights to the entire franchise revert back to Cameron in 2019, and Schwarzenegger's comments imply that the director will become involved in its future direction.
In March, it was reported that Paramount, who currently own the property, were not moving ahead with more movies and that the Genysis sequel has been removed entirely from the studio's development slate.
Terminator: Genisys was originally intended to be the first part of a new trilogy. Paramount had scheduled the next two movies for summer 2017 and 2018 releases respectively and was planning to shoot back-to-back. However, they were subsequently removed from the release slate. Genisys made $440 million at the worldwide box office, with a domestic take of only $90 million.
