This year's entry in F1 racing game series has been announced, as has a release date and the first details.
Again developed by Codemasters, F1 2017 is headed to PS4, Xbox One, and PC (through Steam) on August 25, 2017. Alongside the news, publisher Deep Silver shared the game's first trailer, which you can watch below. It unfortunately doesn't include any actual racing, but you can get a look at a handful of F1 cars.
Codemasters and Deep Silver state that F1 2017 brings back classic F1 cars. As seen in the trailer, those include the 1988 McLaren MP4/4, 1992 Williams FW14B, and the 2002 Ferrari F2002. These won't be the only classic cars featured; there will be a total of 12, with more to be announced in the "coming weeks."
F1 2017 also expands Career mode, enhances multiplayer, and adds a new Championships mode (which was not explained in any detail).
"For the first time ever, F1 2017 fully integrates the classic experience into the main career mode," Codemasters creative director Lee Mather said in a press release. "As part of your career, you will be invited to race in modern day, invitational events in the different classic F1 cars throughout the season. We're also adding to the variety in F1 2017 with the inclusion of four alternative circuit layouts, as well as numerous new gameplay types. The classic cars will also be available to play in a range of other game modes, including online multiplayer modes and time trial."
Anyone who preorders F1 2017 (or picks up a Day One edition) will get exclusive access to the aforementioned McLaren MP4/4. The car will also be sold "at a later date" for an unspecified price, while the remaining classic cars will be available to all players.
The world-building MMORPG Ashes of Creation debuted on Kickstarter earlier this month with an initial goal of $750,000. Despite being only halfway through its crowdfunding campaign, the project has managed to raise over $2 million so far, more than twice the amount of its original goal.
Developed by Intrepid Studios, an independent studio comprised of developers who've worked on EverQuest II and XCOM: Enemy Within (among other titles), Ashes of Creation is described as "an open-world, non-faction MMORPG set in a high-fantasy world." Like other MMOs, the game features player-versus-player and player-versus-environment elements, as well as group and solo quests along with larger scale "sieges."
What sets Ashes of Creation apart from other MMOs, however, is its world-building aspects. Players have a direct impact on how the world around them evolves thanks to the game's unique Node System. Different portions of the world have their own Node, which responds to your actions and influences how that part of the world changes. As your character levels up, civilization advances accordingly, which in turn affects the course of the story. You can learn more about the game's world-building aspects in the video below.
So far, the Ashes of Creation Kickstarter has hit more than half of the campaign's stretch goals, among them the addition of group mounts as well as expansive underground areas called the Underrealm. The remaining stretch goals will add another race for your avatar and new financial systems.
Ashes of Creation is due out by December 2018. The game is in development for PC and will require a subscription to play, though Intrepid hasn't yet detailed subscription costs. Alpha and beta tests will begin for Kickstarter backers in 2018.
For all the that games that try to capture the feel of the massive third-person open worlds of Grand Theft Auto IV and V these days, it's sometimes nice to see a game take inspiration from the older GTA installments. One such title, called Geneshift, is a shooter clearly reminiscent of GTA 2, and it's launching next week in early access.
In a press release, Nik Nak Studios announced that Geneshift will come to PC through Steam on May 23 after eight years in development. It's a top-down shooter that has a similar sort of over-the-top action as GTA 2. However, it also has multiplayer: Geneshift features both four-player co-op in its campaign and five-on-five competitive modes. You can check out a gameplay trailer below.
Geneshift looks pretty cool and appropriately wild. Co-op support seems like a great addition, and I'm particularly fond of the scene in the trailer where four players roll around on a flatbed truck.
Geneshift will cost $8 during the first week post-release. After that, it'll run you $10. You can currently check out a demo of the game, which gives free access to the multiplayer modes without time restrictions.
In other GTA news, GTA V itself recently added a classic mode that brings back the top-down perspective. You can read more about that here.
Ubisoft has confirmed South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be available from October 17 across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. To coincide with the release date announcement, a new trailer focused on The Farting Vigilante has also been released. Check it out below.
"With crime on the rise in South Park, the streets have never been more dangerous," Ubisoft said in a press release. "As the sun sets on the quiet Colorado town, havoc and chaos unleash a reign of terror and the seedy underbelly of the city comes alive. The town needs new heroes to rise! Eric Cartman seizes the opportunity to save the town and create the best superhero franchise ever, his own Coon & Friends with himself as the leader, The Coon.
"Every superhero has an origin, and Coon & Friends are no different. Continuing in their role as the New Kid, players will discover their backstory, assemble their unique costumes, and harness their fart-based powers from numerous hero classes to create their own original hero. An all-new combat system offers unique opportunities to master space and time while on the battlefield, and a revamped looting and crafting system gives players the freedom to craft their own equipment to aid them in battle."
The game, which was written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, was originally set to come out in December 2016, but in September of that year it was delayed to 2017. At the time Ubisoft said this was to "make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans." The game was moved to Q1 2017 (January-March, 2017), but suffered another delay.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole is being developed internally at Ubisoft San Francisco. The previous game in the series, 2013's South Park: The Stick of Truth, was made by Fallout: New Vegas studio Obsidian Entertainment.
Those that preorder the game will get an "exclusive in-game assistant, Towelie: Your Gaming Bud," who provides "helpful and hilarious advice and commentary to players at key locations throughout the game."
During a recent earnings call Ubisoft announced Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, and the new Assassin's Creed will be out during the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2018.
Till the End of Time is the third main installment in the popular Star Ocean series, and it originally launched back in February 2003 for PS2. It was developed by Tri-Ace and launched to fairly positive commercial and critical reception; GameSpot gave it a 7.9. It launched on PS4 in Japan back in March, and you can see the Japanese launch trailer below.
The PS4 port will include trophies, PS4 Share functionality, and Remote Play support. According to a press release from publisher Square Enix, Till the End of Time will cost you $21--making it one of the more expensive PS2-on-PS4 games released so far.
Quake Champions' big technical test is now live to all players on PC, and today publisher Bethesda showed off one of the new modes that's now playable in the game.
Called Duel Mode, it's essentially a modified one-on-one deathmatch that takes inspiration from fighting games. Players will each draft three Champions before the match starts; once it begins, they must eliminate all of the other's Champions to win a round. When a player is killed in a round, they come back to life as one of their remaining Champions. Then, winner of two out of three rounds wins the match.
You can check out a trailer for the new mode above.
Announced last summer, Quake Champions is a class-based take on the old Quake formula. It's only planned for PC at the moment, but developer id Software has said that a console release isn't out of the question. It's coming sometime in 2017, and it'll be a free-to-play game.
Quake's tech test runs until May 21 and is open to anyone on PC; you can get a key for the test at Quake's website. We spent some time with the game back in March and thought it looked promising.
The ad was produced for the film's Japanese release, and a translation can be found at starwarsnewsnet. While it doesn't reveal much, it does suggest that there is a big twist in store.
The text reads:

The Last Jedi stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Domhnall Gleeson, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.
The developers are funding the project primarily through Kickstarter and need to raise $1.1 million in order to bring it to PS4 and PC. Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions are also planned as two separate stretch goals, though their initial cost was significantly higher: the Xbox One version was listed at $3.1 million, while a Switch release would only be funded if the campaign raised $4.95 million.
Now, however, the developers have revised the campaign's stretch goals, and a Switch version will be funded at $1.5 million. In an update on the project's Kickstarter page, the developers explain that the reason the initial stretch goal for the Switch version was so much higher than the others was because "every additional mode triggered through Stretch Goals, budget and resources would need to be weighted towards the Nintendo Switch version to fully optimize the new features." Due to "overwhelming demand" for a Switch version, however, the developers have decided to make that the campaign's first stretch goal. The developers explained:
"Our original Nintendo Switch target was the cumulative total of development of all features across all platforms, with the additional cost of porting on top. Restructuring all our targets enabled us to recalculate the porting costs and internal resources needed to bring Project Rap Rabbit to Nintendo Switch for $1.5 million."
The developers have also said they are reconsidering the campaign's other stretch goals and will reach out to fans through surveys in order to determine which additional features they'd like to see next.
Project Rap Rabbit is estimated to launch by August 2018. The game's Kickstarter campaign ends in 33 days; at the time of writing, the project has raised $118,295, which the developers will only receive if the campaign meets its initial goal.
Although there is certainly no shortage of stealth games to play, few let you take on scenarios with a partner. Hacktag is a co-op game that aims to break that trend, and it now has an open beta on PC for players to test out.
Developer Piece of Cake Studios announced this week that the game is in beta ahead of its move into early access on Steam. The early access launch was originally planned for May 18, but the studio has moved it back to June 1 to provide more time for improvements to the online experience.
Hacktag is an asymmetric cooperative "infiltration" game in which one player acts as an on-the-ground agent and another plays the role of hacker. The studio describes it as a cross between "Mission Impossible and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes." It supports both local and online multiplayer, features three types of missions, and has procedurally generated levels.
If you're interested in checking it out, you have to register for the beta by subscribing to the studio's email list at its website. It still says "closed beta" on the form, but the developer states on the confirmation page after signing up that it'll send out open beta keys.
We now live in a world where interesting and bizarre virtual and augmented reality creations are commonplace, but a new project certainly stands out as particularly novel. A team from Aalto University in Finland have created augmented reality climbing walls that essentially turn the walls into giant Pong screens.
The Augmented Climbing Walls, as they're called, use projectors in conjunction with Xbox Kinect cameras and PCs to work. A game board, divided into two sides, is projected onto the bouldering wall. While hanging from the wall, each climber then attempts to hit a disc past the other. You can check it out in action below.
Raine Kajastila, the project's lead, is a climber himself and created the walls to help people improve motor skills faster and more enjoyably. These walls have already been installed in several countries nationwide.
Ahead of tomorrow's release of the NPD Group sales report for April in the US, Nintendo has shared some of the big news regarding Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Citing NPD data, Nintendo said that Switch sales topped 280,000 units in the US during April, making it the month's No. 1 system. It's the second month in a row that's been the case, as it was also the top seller during its debut month of March. Sales would likely be even higher if Switch weren't facing supply issues, which GameStop has previously said may last for the entire year.
Nintendo also noted that the 3DS family of systems combined to sell more than 68,000 units during the same span. The combined Switch and 3DS sales of 348,000-plus "make up almost half of all hardware sales across all dedicated video game systems," according to NPD data.
On the software side, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was the month's top-selling game, with over 460,000 physical copies sold. Bear in mind, the game only launched on April 28, and the NPD's report for April only tracked sales through April 29. Combined with digital sales, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe topped 550,000 units sold.
It's unclear if Nintendo is citing these games' sales chart positions based on a per-platform basis or not. We should know more when the NPD releases its report tomorrow.
Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War. The trailer spotlights some of the sweeping environments that players can explore, including Cirith Ungol, Gorgoroth, and the Island of Nurn, among others. There are also some sequences showing off some brutal combat animations.
This is the first time we're seeing these environments. You can watch the full trailer above.
Set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Shadow of War builds on the story of 2014's Shadow of Mordor. Developer Monolith says the game has a "richer, more personal and expansive world." The game brings back the original's Nemesis system as well, which aims to make each playthrough difference.
Shadow of War launches on August 22 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. There will be enhanced versions available for Project Scorpio and PS4 Pro. Additionally, Microsoft is a marketing partner for Shadow of War, so you can expect to see the Xbox name popping up in trailers for the game and other materials.
Wild West Online, the upcoming PC MMO that might remind you of Red Dead Redemption, was announced last week. It generated a lot of buzz, so much so that the game's initial investors have increased their investment in the project, meaning it won't come to Kickstarter as previously planned.
Additionally, there will not be a Steam Early Access version, developer 612 Games announced today. Wild West Online is scheduled to launch later this year.
A closed beta will be held this summer, though there is no word yet on what will be in it or how players can get in. We'll report back with more details as they become available.
Additionally, Wild West Online features that were going to be stretch goals on Kickstarter are now included in the game at launch. This includes things like female characters, card games, and localization for other languages.
What's more, 612 Games said that it plans to launch new content and gameplay features for Wild West Online as part of "several" expansions coming to the game after launch.
"The community's response to Wild West Online is something we never imagined, and thanks to it, we're able to fully develop a robust Western experience for PC," 612 Games chief creative officer Stephan Bugaj said in a statement. "We've been fortunate enough to have our initial investors step up and provide additional funding to make the game we wanted, without having to raise money via crowdfunding. Westerns are lacking on PC, so we can't wait to release the game to the public."
Finally, three new combat-focused screenshots for Wild West Online have been released. You can see them in the image gallery above.
Keep checking back with GameSpot for more on Wild West Online.
The issue of texting in theaters has become a controversial one over the past few years. Now the stakes have been raised even higher with the news of a man who is suing his date for excessive texting during the recent Marvel smash Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
As reported by the Austin-based Statesman, 37-year-old Brandon Vezmar filed a claim to recoup the $17.31 he paid for his date's ticket. The site states that Vezmar met the woman online, and the visit to the theater in Round Rock, Texas, was their first date.
In his petition, Vezmar alleges that the woman "activated her phone at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes to read and send text messages." Vezmar says that she also left the theater after the movie without giving him a lift, and that his subsequent attempts to contact her to get the ticket money refunded were ignored.
"While damages sought are modest, the principle is important as defendant's behavior is a threat to civilized society," Vezmar states in his petition.
The Statesman contacted the woman, who did not know about the claim and asked for her name not to be used. She told the site: "This is crazy. I had my phone low and I wasn't bothering anybody. It wasn't like constant texting. I'm not a bad woman. I just went out on a date."
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn has also weighed in on the issue of the alleged texting during his movie:
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opened earlier this month and is proving hugely successful. To date it has made $636.9 million at the worldwide box office.
The Witcher is being adapted into a TV series for Netflix, with Platige Image--a production company that worked on the video game series--involved in its creation.
The series looks to be based on the eight-part novel series written by Andrzej Sapkowski, instead of the games. Sapkowski will be working on the English language drama series as a creative consultant.
"Andrzej Sapkowski has created a rich and memorable world, at once magical and familiar," said Erik Barmack, Netflix's vice president of international series. "We couldn't be more excited about bringing The Witcher saga to Netflix members around the world."
Sapkowski added: "I'm thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over 30 years writing. I'm excited about our efforts together, as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life."
Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise, The Expanse) and Jason Brown (The Expanse) are executive producers on the project. From Platige, Tomek Baginski, who has worked on Oscar nominated short The Cathedral, and Jarek Sawko, will be contributing to the series.
"The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world," explained Daniel and Brown. "The characters are original, funny, and constantly surprising, and we can't wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling."
Baginiski and Sawko continued: "There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre. It is a story about today and today's challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover. It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts."
The Witcher video game series, meanwhile, has come to an end, for now. Developer CD Projekt RED initially said the third game would be the last in the series. However, following the widespread critical and commercial success of the title, it has softened on the idea of returning to the franchise.
Update: Konami has officially announced PES 2018 and confirmed it will launch on September 14, 2017. It has promised the new PES will "hit the floor running with new features, new ways to play, a PC version to the standard of the leading console iterations, and an unrivalled gameplay experience."
One of the major new features to the way PES plays is called "Real Touch +," which Konami says allows players to "react to receiving a ball using permissible parts of the body, such as chest, head, and legs to bring a pass under control dependent on the height and pace of the incoming ball." This, it says, is done through "simple movements of the control stick."
Konami claims it has also improved PES visually using the "Real Capture system," which "provides true-to-life lighting across day and night games, while over 20,000 components have been faithfully recreated to recreate the turf, tunnels, and the surrounding areas of stadia such as Camp Nou and Signal Iduna Park."
PES 2018 will be available for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Konami has assured PC players that their version of the game "enjoys parity with the current gen formats."
Those that preorder the digital FC Barcelona Special Edition of the game on will get "additional content at launch: including 1,000 myClub coins and 5 myClub player agents" this will net you a UEFA Champions League player, as well as a top club and Legend player from FC Barcelona."
Original story: While Konami has not yet officially announced it, the first details and a release date for Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 have been revealed. A product page on Xbox.com (via TrueAchievements) shows a release date of September 14, along with a number of new features for the latest entry in the soccer series.
Among the new features are things like "strategic dribbling" and new set pieces that "take the unrivalled gameplay to the next level." The game's presentation is also reportedly getting an overhaul with new menus and "real player images." There is also new lighting, reworked player models, and animations for things like facial animations and player models.
A new co-op mode is also included, it seems, while the transfer system is reportedly improved. Additionally, if you preorder, you'll get bonuses for the game's MyClub mode. On the game's cover are the stars of Barcelona, though this might be a regional cover.
Konami is likely to officially announce the game soon, so keep checking back for more.
On the other side of the fence, EA's FIFA series is returning this year with FIFA 18. Like Pro Evo 2018, FIFA 18 has yet to be formally announced, but that should happen soon. Historically, new installments in both franchises come out in September.
Platforms for FIFA 18 and Pro Evo 2018 have not been announced, but PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are likely.
D.Va, everyone's favourite professional gamer turned mech-piloting hero, has made the jump from Overwatch to Heroes of the Storm as part of the game's latest update.
"World champion professional gamer and burgeoning global icon Hana Song, also known as D.Va, battles to protect her homeland as a member of South Korea's elite MEKA unit," Blizzard says in a press release.
For Heroes of the Storm, D.Va retains many of the unique abilities that make her a force to be reckoned with in Overwatch. She is able to pilot her MEKA into battle, but when it's destroyed she hops out and carries on fighting on foot. If she can stay in the battle long enough, she's can call another mech in and continue dishing out damage.
Her other abilities include Defense Matrix, which is a directional shield that reduces damage, and Self-Destruct, during which she launches her mech at the enemies as it explodes. Take a look at a breakdown of her abilities below, courtesy of Blizzard. You can also see her in action in the video above.
Trait
Mech Mode
When D.Va's Mech is destroyed, she is ejected after 0.75 seconds and can continue to fight in Pilot Mode. Destroying D.Va's Mech only awards 50% of a normal Hero's XP.
Pilot Mode
Each Basic Attack reduces the cooldown of Call Mech by 0.5 seconds. As a Pilot, D.Va only awards 50% of a normal Hero's XP upon death.
Mount
While in Mech Mode, D.Va can shoot while moving, but her Movement Speed is reduced by 15%. While in Pilot Mode, D.Va can use Mounts.
Basic Abilities
Boosters (Q)
Increases D.Va's movements speed by 125% for 2 seconds. Enemies that are hit take damage and are knocked away.
D.Va cannot be Slowed while Boosters are active.
Defense Matrix (W)
Channel a defensive field in the target direction for 3 seconds, reducing damage dealt by enemy Heroes inside it by 75%. The Mech can move while channeling, but cannot turn.
Damage dealt to the Mech by enemies within Defense Matrix still grants the same amount of Self-Destruct Charge.
Self-Destruct (E)

Ubisoft has announced its E3 2017 press conference will be held on June 12 at 1 PM PT / 9 PM BST / 4 PM ET. The event will be held at the Orpheum Theatre and, as with most press E3 conferences, will be available to watch online via streams.
These games will undoubtedly be shown during Ubisoft's E3 2017 press conference, but the French developer and publisher also has a history of pulling out a few surprises. In the past it has ended its press conferences by showing off new IPs such as Watch Dogs and Steep, so it may be that another new property is revealed this year.
Valve is implementing some big changes to Steam Trading Cards in an effort to combat "fake games" and improve the overall Steam Store experience.
Added in 2013, Steam Trading Cards are collectibles that players could collect and trade with friends. They became more popular over time, and with that popularity came some bad eggs who wanted to take advantage of the system by releasing "fake" games on Steam to cash in on demand for cards.
"These fake developers take advantage of a feature we provide to all developers on Steam, which is the ability to generate Steam keys for their games," Valve said in a blog post today. "They generate many thousands of these keys and hand them out to bots running Steam accounts, which then idle away in their games to collect Trading Cards. Even if no real players ever see or buy one of these fake games, their developers make money by farming cards."
Valve of course wants to put an end to this, but it hasn't been easy or without issue.
"We could restrict the ability for developers to generate Steam keys for their games, but we hate to degrade tools that legitimate developers are using to make their players happy," Valve said. "We're also not certain it would actually solve the problem--there are many ways a bad actor could try to get their game owned by all their bot accounts, and they just need to find a way to do it that costs less than they're making from selling their Trading Cards."
Part of the reason why Valve is taking action is because the abuse of the Card system negatively impacts the Steam Store's algorithm that aims to spotlight the games you might be most interested in.
"The algorithm's primary job is to chew on a lot of data about games and players, and ultimately decide which games it should show you. These Trading Card farming games produce a lot of faux data, because there's a lot of apparent player activity around them," Valve said. "As a result, the algorithm runs the risk of thinking that one of these games is actually a popular game that real players should see."
As such, Valve said it has decided to "remove the economic incentive" of the Card system first by not releasing Cards until a game has reached a "confidence metric" that demonstrates that a game is actually real.
"Once a game reaches that metric, cards will drop to all users, including all the users who've played the game prior to that point," Valve said. "So going forward, even if you play a game before it has Trading Cards, you'll receive cards for your playtime when the developer adds cards and reaches the confidence metric."
This confidence metric is derived from "a variety of pieces of data" that Valve did not disclose.
"You might wonder why the confidence metric will succeed at identifying fake games, when we weren't being successful at using data to prevent them getting through Greenlight," Valve said. "The reason is that Greenlight is used by a tiny subsection of Steam's total playerbase, producing far less data overall, which makes it more easily gamed. In addition, Greenlight only allows players to vote and comment, so that data is narrow. Steam at large allows players to interact with games in many different ways, generating a broad set of data for each game, and that makes identifying fake ones an easier task."
If this system works, the people releasing fake games will have less of an economic reason to do so, which should in turn help fix the problem. Some games ("a small number," Valve said) will see a delay before their Cards arrive, but overall, the company said this change should have "little negative impact on other developers and players."
"On the positive side, it should significantly improve the quality of the data being fed into the Store algorithms, which is a good thing for everyone," Valve said.
The third post will talk about the publishing fee for the Steam Greenlight replacement, Steam Direct. This was announced in February, and at the time, Valve said surveyed developers suggested prices ranging from $100 to $5000 per game. Presumably, Valve will announce the final fee value soon.
We'll report back with more details as they are announced.
Stranger Things Season 2 is going to "take a lot of risks" and you might not like everything the season has to offer, according to star David Harbour.
Speaking to Deadline, Harbour, who plays Police Chief Hopper, said Stranger Things is like ice cream. Season 1 was vanilla and Season 2 will be strawberry--and not everyone likes strawberry.
"It's like, you created vanilla ice cream in the first season, and it's so tasty, so delicious, but in the second season you can't redo vanilla," Harbour explained. "You have to create strawberry. Some people are going to like strawberry and some people are going to like vanilla better. But you can't try to recreate vanilla.
"We're going to take a lot of risks. I think people are going to be pissed off by things. I think they are going to be elated and excited about things. It's all further in terms of going on this journey."
Also in the interview, Harbour reflected on Season 1, saying those involved in the production didn't know exactly the reach or impact the show would have. Now that it has become a cultural phenomenon, Harbour said he feels more pressure to deliver with Season 2.
"We feel an obligation to the people. I'm terrified in that way," he said. "I'm more afraid this season than I was last. I was very afraid last season, but I'm more afraid this season because we're very aware we do not want a sophomore slump. Each scene I'm thinking a lot more specifically, and I'm thinking a lot harder. We feel the ownership of this great thing and the camaraderie, and also we feel this pressure."
The full interview also touches on the evolution of Hopper from Season 1 to Season 2. Read it here.
Stranger Things Season 2 premieres on Netflix this Halloween. You can see the first trailer above.
The Flash movie is taking a long time to get made, but it looks like the film is getting closer to happening now. Sources told Variety that Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future) and Matthew Vaughn (Snatch, Kingsman) are the "top choices" at Warner Bros. to direct.
Offers have not been made to either of them, however, and other, unnamed directors are also in the mix, the report said.
Scheduling could be an issue for Zemeckis and Vaughn. Zemeckis is making a movie with Steve Carell that will start shooting in August, and Warner Bros. reportedly has a mandate that The Flash film enters production before the year is out. Vaughn, meanwhile, is reportedly getting started on a third Kingsman film. Variety reports that he might use his meeting with Warner Bros. about The Flash movie as leverage in his discussions with Fox about making another Kingsman film.
"These processes are complicated, and I think it can--from afar--appear to be something interpersonal or dramatic," he said. "These are groups of people taking the development of projects extremely seriously, and the teams are changing all the time. There's often a lot of flux in who the team of the production of a film is before that production starts, and in this case, you hear about it, because it's a critical figure--the directors that have been coming on and leaving. For me, it's sort of a tragic relay race."
Miller also had small roles as the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. He'll also play The Flash in this year's Justice League.
The next Xbox One and Windows 10 updates have arrived, adding new features and functionality.
Starting off on Xbox One, a new tab called "Tournaments" will now appear in Killer Instinct's game page to add Arena support to the fighting game. From the Tournaments hub you can view available tournaments and join them.
Today's update also introduces the ability for players to create their own tournaments. Users can set a time and date, alter the settings, and write a description. The tournaments can then be posted to a Club's activity feed as a means to attract more players.
Here is a roundup of some of the other features that are available now on Xbox One and Windows 10 through the the update, as posted on Xbox Wire:
Looking For Group now has notifications, so you can find out right away when someone posts. Additionally, LFG posts can be shared on activity feeds and through messages.
Xbox Live Clubs now allow members to filter broadcasts by games and the "maturity rating" of a stream. Additionally, a Beam tab has been added to show broadcasts from that source.
You can now overlay the names of people in your party who are speaking. You can change the position of the overlay and its transparency.
The Dolby Access app is launching soon on Xbox One, introducing Dolby Atmos audio.

Tyranny, the PC-exclusive RPG from Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment, did not sell as well as publisher Paradox Interactive would have wanted.
Speaking to PCGamesN, Paradox CEO Fred Wester said, "Tyranny did OK." Paradox VP of business development Shams Jorjani added, "We're overall OK with it, I think. Everyone was hoping that it would do better."
Wester went on to say that Tyranny sales could improve further still, as he mentioned that, "A lot of people are still on the fence to buy it." He sees Tyranny as having a "long tail" as it relates to sales.
But as for the initial launch, "It didn't really meet the expectations we set for it initially, no."
A statement from Obsidian praises Tyranny for being an "incredibly deep and unique RPG that players adore," though the company also acknowledges its (initial) shortcomings.
"While a better reception in the market during a packed holiday season would have been great, we think it's the kind of game that has legs and can do great over time," the statement said.
Tyranny came out during a busy time for games--November 2016--while Jorjani also said he believes the market might not be as enthusiastic about '90s-style RPGs as they used to be.
"While I have some personal misgivings over how much I enjoyed such a twisted, unscrupulous game, this is a unique experience that makes you think about human nature, morality, and what role mercy and compassion should (or even could) play in a centuries-old war," review Brett Todd said. "It reaches beyond the standard heroic fantasy RPG where you slay monsters and save the kingdom, inverting that familiar story and setting and creating something utterly different--and somewhat depressingly realistic."
We're beginning to get word about the next James Bond film, but we still don't know what it's called, when it comes out, or, crucially, who will play 007 in it. Now, Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam has responded to the rumors that he is being eyed for the role. While he might be a match for the role in some ways, he has received no phone calls from the decision-makers about it.
"I can say two things: I'm English and I look devilishly handsome in a suit. I can [actually] say three things: nobody has called me about playing James Bond," Hunnam explained. "So I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen."
The first trailer for Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane's Star Trek spoof TV show has arrived.
MacFarlane stars on The Orville as Ed Mercer, the captain of the U.S.S. Orville, a ship compromised of human and alien crew, just like Star Trek. Recently divorced, Mercer is looking to "prove his worth and write a new chapter in his life," which is complicated by the fact that his ex-wife, Kelly, played by Adrianne Palicki, has been assigned to be the First Office of his ship.
"Somehow, Ed and Kelly must put the past behind them and, with the help of the crew, navigate fascinating and sometimes dangerous adventures in outer space, as well as the tumultuous and captivating day-to-day personal relationships with their colleagues," reads a line from the show's official description.
The Orville also stars Scott Grimes (Justified), Penny Johnson (24), Peter Macon (Shameless), Mark Jackson (The Royal Today), J. Lee (Family Guy), Halston Sage (Neighbors), and the voice of Norm Macdonald (Saturday Night Live), who plays a the jelly-like creature Yaphit.
The show is directed by Iron Man director Jon Favreau. A premiere date has not been announced.
Capcom noted that Resident Evil 7 failing to meet the initial sales targets is not the end of the world because the "lifecycle for games is growing longer." Not only that, but digital sales are getting bigger and bigger, and those are higher-margin compared to boxed retail games, which is a plus for Capcom.
Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 each individually sold in the range of 7.5 million to 10 million units, and the expectation is that Resident Evil 7 will get there as well...eventually.
Resident Evil 7's favorable reviews will help it continue to sell, Capcom said, while the company is also planning marketing events and more DLC to help increase sales further.
"This title was received favorably by both fans and the media; further, its unit sales continue to grow even now," Capcom said. "We will work to achieve our unit sales goal this fiscal year by continuing to generate buzz with promotional activities that include events for fans, as well as with downloadable content."
