Neverwinter, the MMORPG based on the classic Dungeons & Dragons franchise, has announced the June release date for its next free update on PS4 and Xbox One. Neverwinter: Shroud of Souls gives players a new adventure and new features, including the Loadouts function, which promises to make creating and switching out character builds easy.
This next update pits you against Morlanth, a dragonborn necromancer, who's escaped from captivity beneath the river district. She unleashes the Shroud of Souls, a spectral force under her command, and she seeks out spirits to act as generals in her army. Players are tasked with stopping her.
In addition to the new storyline, the Loadouts feature will allow you to "create customized character builds, complete with gear configurations" for quick swapping across Neverwinter's PvE, PvP, dungeons, and other situations.
Other improvements are coming to the game, too. Shroud of Souls features improvements to Strongholds guild gameplay, including a dynamic "Marauders" event, and a customizable Guild Hall social space where "players can relive their adventures with others and showcase their achievements."
Neverwinter: Shroud of Souls is out June 20 and is free-to-play digitally on Xbox One (with Xbox Live Gold) and PlayStation 4 (PlayStation Plus not required). It's also available on PC, and you can get all the details on its expansions by following our full coverage here.
The studio confirmed that Hardy will play Eddie Brock in the film, which is set to hit theaters in October 2018 and begins shooting this fall. In Marvel's comic books, Brock is a photographer and rival to Peter Parker, who becomes a host for the parasite and sets about to destroy him.
Sony announced Hardy's involvement with a photo of the actor wearing a Venom T-shirt:
Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock in #Venom, the upcoming film from Sony's Marvel Universe releasing October 5, 2018 – production starts this fall. pic.twitter.com/OZQqDEvoum
This isn't the first time that Hardy has played a villainous role in a superhero movie--in 2012 he portrayed Bane in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. He will reunite with Nolan this summer in the World War 2 adventure Dunkirk.
Venom will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, who previously helmed the horror comedy Zombieland. It is unknown if there will be any connection between Venom and this year's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Sony holds the movie rights to Spider-Man and associated characters, and Marvel had to strike a deal with it to allow Spidey to become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Homecoming and last year's Captain America: Civil War.
Plans for a Venom movie actually predate the Marvel deal, and the film was originally intended to be part of the ongoing Spider-Man franchise that starred Andrew Garfield. That series ended after just two movies. Venom previously appeared in 2007's Spider-Man 3, in which Eddie Brock was played by Topher Grace.
During Destiny 2's big reveal event this week, Bungie showcased a portion of a story mission called Homecoming. You can check out about nine minutes of this early section of the game in the video above.
Fans of Crucible and Strikes are also in luck, as we've gotten to check out both of those in Destiny 2. At the bottom of this story, you'll find a complete match of the new Countdown mode in Crucible, as well as a complete Strike called Inverted Spire (directly below).
As for the Homecoming clip starts out with a cinematic sequence as the Tower comes under attack. We then see actual gameplay for the first time, as the player attempts to repel a Cabal assault on what had primarily served as a social space (and later a Crucible map) in the first Destiny.
The video shows off two new weapon types: the grenade launcher and a chaingun of sorts. Also on display are some new Super abilities, which you can read more about here. Following the segment on the Tower, the action moves to a Cabal ship. The video wraps up as the player encounters the big villain of Destiny 2, Ghaul, a Cabal warlord and the leader of the Red Legion. He ominously states, "Your journey ends here" as the demo comes to an end.
The latest entry in Bandai Namco's long-running fighting series, Tekken 7, is two weeks away from its worldwide release, and the publisher has set the stage for the game's launch with a new story trailer.
The video gives fans a preview of Tekken 7's plot, which sees the Mishima Clan's 20-year blood feud come to its climactic conclusion. As you'd expect from a series about martial arts, honor, and betrayal, the trailer features plenty of military-grade weaponry and earth-shaking explosions (though, sadly, no boxing kangaroos). You can watch the full video at the top of this story.
Before Tekken 7 brings the Mishimas' saga to a close, Bandai Namco is letting players catch up on the story so far with a series of humorous 8-bit trailers. The first installment covers the beginning of the clan's feud from the original Tekken through to 1998's Tekken 3.
Shadow Warrior 2 came out on PC last year, and now console players can get in on the action, too. Today, the game released digitally on PS4 and Xbox One, and for a limited time, players can get a bonus if they purchase it.
If you buy Shadow Warrior 2 from now until June 2, you'll get the original game for free on PS4 or Xbox One. In addition, during this two-week stretch, its price is discounted to $35 from its normal $40.
You can watch the console launch trailer above and check out a gallery of images at the bottom of this article. Shadow Warrior 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Flying Hog that tasks players with slaying demons using a wide array of guns, swords, and magic.
You can grab the two games on the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store. If you want both games and the discounted price, you have to buy "The Shadow Warrior Collection" on PS4 or "Shadow Warrior 2 - Launch Edition" on Xbox One.
Last year, GameSpot sat down with Flying Hog to talk about the game's development and design philosophy; you can check out our interview here. When it came out on PC, GameSpot critic Mat Paget gave it an 8/10, saying, "Picking off enemies one-by-one with a railgun, demolishing them point-blank with a shotgun, and ripping through them with a chainsaw are just a few of the exciting moments that make it hard to put down. However, if you want to experience its action-packed highs, then disregard its groan-inducing lows and skip the cutscenes."
For a recap of this week's news, we've rounded up all of our Destiny 2 coverage below. That includes gameplay videos and galleries showcasing some of the new and adjusted subclasses. To find out more, you can also check out our Destiny 2 everything we know so far roundup.
Before today's big livestream, Bungie had announced Destiny 2's release date as September 8 alongside special editions of the game. Destiny 2 will have a season pass called the Expansion Pass, which includes "Expansion I and Expansion II, offering brand new story missions, cooperative activities, competitive multiplayer, and a wealth of new weapons, armor, and gear."
The indie side-scrolling adventure game Owlboy is releasing for Nintendo Switch. The news was announced during the latest Japanese episode of Nintendo's YouTube series, The Cat Mario Show.
Owlboy was originally released for PC in 2016, though developer D-Pad Studio first began working on the title back in 2007. The game puts players in the role of Otus, the eponymous owl boy who is tasked with saving his village from a band of sky pirates. Otus must use his gift of flight to navigate through the game's complex stages. He can also team up with a number of other characters and use their unique abilities to battle enemies and bosses while he ferries them through the air.
Despite its protracted development cycle, Owlboy was met with critical acclaim when it released. In our Owlboy review, we called the title "a heartfelt experience that will touch anyone with an affinity for great art and storytelling" and awarded it 9/10. It also earned the #18 spot on our Game of the Year 2016 Countdown.
At the moment, Owlboy hasn't been announced for any other platforms. Similarly, no pricing or release details for the Switch version have been revealed just yet.
Destiny 2 was officially revealed yesterday, and developer Bungie talked a lot about what's new and improved. The question was inevitably raised, though, about the possibility of the game coming to Switch. Unfortunately for Switch fans, Bungie isn't planning on bringing the game to Nintendo's new console any time soon.
Talking with IGN, project lead Mark Noseworthy stated that the developer isn't working on a port and doesn't think that the game would work on Switch. "I think it's pretty unrealistic, given we're an online-only game, right?" he said. "[The Switch is] incredible, I love the console, but in terms of where it's at, I don't want to leave anyone with the possibility of, like, 'It's a thing we'll consider, maybe next year.' There's no plans right now for Switch."
Bungie is bringing Destiny 2 to a new platform, however. The first Destiny was only on consoles, but Destiny 2 will have a fully featured PC version, replete with graphics options such as unlocked frame rates and a variety of resolutions. GameSpot talked a lot about the PC version with Noseworthy, which you can read here.

In addition, the Xbox Live online service is currently free for everyone on every game until May 21.

Nex Machina, the new shooter from Housemarque, officially has a release date. The developer also today released a new trailer and confirmed that the game features a cooperative mode.
Nex Machina launches on June 20 for both PS4 and PC, Housemarque has announced. Originally revealed last December, it draws inspiration from classic top-down shooters like Robotron and Smash TV. The creator of those games, Eugene Jarvis, has collaborated on its development with Housemarque, which is best known for having created some excellent shooters itself, including Resogun and Super Stardust.
There aren't many details regarding its newly revealed co-op mode yet. It's limited to local multiplayer and may only allow for two players at a time, given what we see in the trailer. But based on the video, that two-player limit may be a good thing, as the screen quickly fills up with enemies, bullets, and explosions.
Nex Machina also features competitive multiplayer modes and leaderboards. There are a total of five worlds comprised of 100 levels, with various secrets scattered throughout. For more, check out our thoughts on why you should play the game.
Bandai Namco's Power Rangers-inspired tactical RPG Chroma Squad is out now on PS4 and Xbox One.
The game, which was developed by Brazilian indie developer Behold Studios and funded through Kickstarter, was previously released on PC in 2015. A PlayStation Vita version was also in the works, though that was ultimately canceled.
Inspired by classic Japanese Tokusatsu shows, Chroma Squad puts players in control of a team of former stunt actors who open up their own television studio. You'll have to assign roles to your actors, outfit them with equipment, and "direct" them through turn-based tactical battles that make up the show's "episodes." The game also features skill trees and a branching storyline with three possible endings.
Chroma Squad is available digitally through the PlayStation and Xbox Stores and retails for US $15/£12/AU $20.
After spending the last few months in early access, strategy game Endless Space 2 has officially launched on PC via Steam.
Endless Space 2 is a turn-based science-fiction strategy game considered a "4X" title--meaning that players explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate. It is a follow-up to 2012's well-received Endless Space. Check out Endless Space 2's launch trailer below.
"Crafting Endless Space 2 has been a long and rewarding journey," creative director Romain de Genlis said in a press release. "As always, our community has been an outstanding and creative partner in the game's development, and it has been such an honor to be able to implement an entire civilization into the game that was designed by them."
The standard edition will cost you $40 on Steam and the digital deluxe edition will run you $50. The special edition includes a digital copy of the soundtrack, a ship skin, and two Academy heroes. If you're interested in learning more about the game, you can check out a series of gameplay videos here.
If you've never played Destiny before, it can be a bit daunting at this point to try. Four expansions, countless updates, and activities that require a very high level to play all make it difficult to jump in. But Bungie hopes to bring in a lot of new players to Destiny 2, even if they never touched the first game. We sat down with project lead Mark Noseworthy after the official Destiny 2 reveal event to learn more about Bungie's philosophy behind appealing to new players.
When asked if attempting to make Destiny 2 open and accessible to beginners would potentially alienate existing players, Noseworthy explained that Bungie doesn't see it that way. Rather, catering parts of the game to help onboard newcomers will make a more positive experience for everyone, he argued.
"What's good for new people is almost never bad for someone returning," he said. "Ultimately, Destiny is a social game--you can play it solo, can play the rich story and have a great time by yourself. But the thing that makes Destiny truly unique is the presence of other people... The more people that are playing Destiny, the special-er it can be."
"By introducing new players to the world, and really introducing all the new mechanics to the game, that's good even for returning players, who are like, 'I know all this stuff, you don't have to explain anything to me,'" he continued. "Because it means they're going to have other players that are going to come on board."
In addition, he said that Bungie is changing enough systems in the game that it will even help players who spent a ton of time in the first Destiny. "We're changing some systems," he said. "There's stuff that's going to be different than Destiny 1, and so returning players might think that they've got it all figured out, but some things have turned on their head."
Noseworthy made a point, however, to say that veterans will be recognized for their commitment to the game. Although Bungie hasn't announced anything specific yet, they will be giving long-time players something. "We have announced that players that have reached level 20 in the original Destiny are going to receive some honors and be able to continue that character from Destiny 1," he stated. Players can bring their current character over to Destiny 2, but without its level progress and gear. "At some point in the future we will probably say, 'And here are some of the other achievements that you do that we'll recognize.' It's really important for us to let players know that we remember, we remember what you've done and who you've done it with. So we have some special things in store there."
Destiny 2 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 8, and PC at a currently unspecified date. However, Bungie talked a lot about the PC version, and you can read more about it here. Bungie will hold a beta for the game this summer for consoles, and at some unknown point in the future for PC.
Godzilla: King of Monsters is the upcoming sequel to the 2014 smash Godzilla, and will hit theaters in 2019. It has now been reported that Game of Thrones star Charles Dance has joined the cast.
According to Deadline, Dance will appear in the 2019 release. The veteran British star will join the likes of Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline, Manchester by the Sea), and Aisha Hinds (Under The Dome). Sally Hawkins and Ken Watanabe have also recently signed on to reprise their roles from the first movie.
Dance played Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones for four seasons and is also known for movies such as Alien 3, The Imitation Game, and Last Action Hero.
Godzilla: King of Monsterswill be directed by Michael Dougherty, who is also co-writing. Dougherty previously helmed the Christmas-themed horror movie Krampus, and as a writer, he worked on Bryan Singer's superhero movies X-Men 2 and Superman Returns. Godzilla director Gareth Edwards was originally scheduled to helm the project, but he dropped out last May.
The movie will form part of Legendary's ongoing big monster universe, which also includes the recent Kong: Skull Island. In 2020, the two iconic creatures will face off in Godzilla vs. Kong.
The new Reservoir Dogs game, Bloody Days, is now available on PC--and it has received a new trailer to celebrate.
The video shows off the game's top-down combat view, as well as its rewind mechanic, which allows you to help out other members of your squad, take out more enemies, and steal more cash. Check it out for yourself below.
Bloody Days will set you back $15 / £11 on Steam, and it's 10% off that until May 25. The shooter is also coming to Xbox One, but not until "later this year."
Many notable figures from the film are included in Bloody Days as playable characters, including Mr. Blonde, Mr. Blue, Mr. Brown, Mr. Orange, Mr. Pink, and Mr. White. The single-player game has 18 levels, set in places like banks, nightclubs, and docks.
Reservoir Dogs (the movie) was released in 1992, making it 25 years old this year. It was Tarantino's first full-length movie, and starred Michael Madsen, Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, Lawrence Tierney, Tim Roth, and Chris Penn.
Amazon Prime members can now pick up yet another free PC game.
The latest freebie is Titan Souls, which you can grab right now at this page on Twitch to add the game to your account. With that done, open the Twitch desktop app (or download it here if you don't already have it) and you'll be able to download and play the game with no restrictions.
You can see the full minimum and recommend system requirements for Titan Souls here, while a full breakdown of the game is also available on that page. Released in 2015, Titan Souls was developed by Acid Nerve and published by Devolver Digital.

A new patch has landed for BioWare's Mass Effect: Andromeda, but don't expect it to do much.
GameSpot downloaded update 1.07 on PS4 today and found the following patch notes: "Various bug fixes and stability improvements."
Producer Michael Gamble said on Twitter, "It's just a hotfix." Specifically, the update fixes a crash with the SOS quest and a problem with >1080p UI placement. The patch also makes an "athletic outfit available mid-playthrough."
The patch should be live across PC, Xbox One, and PS4. If you're encountering issues on PC, Gamble said he recommends going offline in Origin, launching the game, then going back online. Another option is to restart Origin, he said.
After a great deal of anticipation, Bungie has finally announced Destiny 2. With so much information floating around about the game, we've compiled everything you need to know about it. Below you can find all of our relevant features and videos about the game, as well as general information about what to expect.
Although we've known that a sequel to Destiny was in the works, we had to wait a bit to see actual gameplay. The game launches on September 8; unlike the first game, it's coming to PC in addition to the expected Xbox One and PS4 versions.
While the reveal trailer doesn't show any gameplay, it does shed light on what Destiny 2 will be about. The premise is as such: The City has fallen under the control of Ghaul, the commander of a brutal force known as the Red Legion. With humanity pushed out of its last safe haven, it's up to you and other players to work together to eliminate this threat and reclaim what was lost.
Yes, and we've seen two new weapon types: the chaingun and the grenade launcher. Weapons have been revamped, too. Instead of the first game's Primary, Secondary, and Heavy weapon classes, the three slots will be Kinetic, Energy, and Power. Power weapons include things like fusion and sniper rifles and the newly revealed grenade launchers, while the Kinetic and Energy slots will allow for some overlap.
No new classes have been revealed, but we have seen new Super abilities for Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters. Warlocks get a sword-based move called the Dawnblade that can be used to attack enemies from above, and it shoots fire. Titans get Sentinel, which allows you to summon a Shield and use it to hit enemies. Finally, the Hunters get Arcstrider, which lets you summon a staff that you can swing around and slam enemies with.
Yes; Bungie has emphasized that Destiny 2's worlds will provide more to do than just Patrols. There will be four new worlds to explore: Titan, Io, Nessus, and Earth's European Dead Zone. There will still be Patrols, but there will be a greater emphasis on exploration, including actual towns and NPCs who give quests. One map shown is twice the size of any of the areas from Destiny 1. Additionally, you won't have to go into orbit to travel from location to location anymore; you can select new destinations from your current location.
There will also be more robust side-quests known as Adventures. These can involve hunting down treasure on a map, discovering Lost Sectors, and fighting a boss inside to get a key to the treasure chest.
Is there matchmaking?
Sort of. Destiny 2 is introducing official clan support to help you coordinate things like raids, and part of that is a psuedo-matchmaking system called Guided Games. It allows you to search for clans who need another person to play with and choose who you want to join. That way, a group that has only five players can find a solo player to raid with, for example, and everyone will hopefully have more control over who they end up playing with.
What will competitive multiplayer be like?
Destiny 2's Crucible will be 4v4 only--that means some game types from the first Destiny will either change or disappear entirely. Multiplayer will shift to focus on game modes for smaller teams. One of the new modes is called Countdown, which we played at Destiny 2's gameplay reveal event.
The game will have a season pass called the Expansion Pass that includes two expansions, each offering brand new story missions, cooperative activities, competitive multiplayer, and an assortment of new weapons, armor, and gear.
Will my progress from the first game transfer to the sequel?
Unfortunately, Destiny 1 power, possessions, and Eververse-related items and currency will not transfer over. However, your character's appearance will not be abandoned in the sequel.
There will be several different special editions. A Digital Deluxe Edition comes with a Legendary sword, emote, and Cabal-themed emblem. Continuum adds four maps (Turista, Scrap, Archive, and Excess), as well as the Shaolin Shuffle Zombies map. This map is set in 1970s New York, featuring disco-zombies. It features Pam Grier, who starred in Quentin Tarantino's 1997 crime thriller film Jackie Brown, as well as Paul Reubens, Seth Green, Jay Pharoah, and Sasheer Zamata. Check out the trailer above to see the map in action.
The Excess map is actually a reimagining of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map Rust. According to Activision, it "retains the intense, fast-paced combat from the original."
Continuum is included with Infinite Warfare's $50 DLC pass or can be purchased by itself for $15. There are two more expansions coming to the game that are included with the DLC pass, though they have yet to be formally announced.
Infinite Warfare is not the only Call of Duty game with new DLC available now, as Call of Duty: Black Ops III recently added the Zombies Chronicles expansion on PS4.
This year's Call of Duty game is Call of Duty: WWII, which comes out in November.
In the latest update to AMD's graphics driver--Crimson ReLive 17.5.2--users of Radeon video cards should expect a slight boost in performance for Prey. Frame rate can improve up to 4.5% based on AMD's numbers, which are derived from running the game in 4K with a Radeon RX 580.
In addition, the new Radeon 17.5.2 driver fixes the following issues from previous versions:
Nier: Automata may experience a random hang or application crash after short periods of gameplay.
Forza Horizon 3 may experience very long map/launch load times.
The primary display adapter may sometimes appear disabled in Radeon Settings while driving a display from the linked adapter in Multi GPU system configurations.
Radeon RX 550 series graphics products may experience a system hang when entering sleep or hibernate modes.
You can download the latest Radeon drivers and the Crimson ReLive software suite on AMD's website.
AMD is set to hold a press conference on May 31 to reveal Vega GPUs during Computex, the world's largest computer hardware convention. Keep an eye out for our coverage of the event and upcoming gaming hardware.
The Destiny franchise comes to PC for the first time with Destiny 2. The PC edition will feature a number of graphics options and an uncapped frame rate. Now, Nvidia has released the first 4K screenshots of the game.
It's a big day for Destiny 2, as Bungie revealed new footage of the shooter sequel and talked about gameplay features being added. One of the cool parts from today's livestream was the section dedicated to some of the new planets you will get to explore.
"Now we have stuff tucked around every corner, under every locked door. There is something there for you to find," producer Mark Noseworthy said.
One of the locations shown off in the video is the European Dead Zone (EDZ), which Noseworthy says is the largest destination Bungie has ever made, possibly by a factor of two. Another new location is Saturday's moon, Titan, while another new location is the planetoid Nessus. Yet another new area to explore is Io, the sulfuric moon of Jupiter. You can see all of these in the video embedded above.
The NPD Group today released its report for April 2017, revealing the top 10 best-selling games of the month for the United States and other key industry facts.
You can see all of the top-seller lists NPD shared below. As is now the case every month, these lists are ranked by US dollar sales and combine physical sales with digital sales from select publishers. As such, the figures in this post do not cover the entire industry spend.
Overall, total spend--including hardware, games, and accessories--rose 10 percent to $636 million. This is the first time that spending has increased in consecutive months since November 2015.
In terms of hardware, the Nintendo Switch was again the top-seller, moving more than 280,000 units in the US during the month. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the month's top-seller, sold more than 460,000 physical copies and a further 90,000 digital units. One important note is that the game launched on April 28, and the NPD's reporting period ended April 29, so only two days of sales were tracked.
Another interesting thing to note is that the NES Classic was the No. 2 best-seller in the US during April, outperforming Xbox One and PS4, though a specific unit sales figure was not provided.
Overall, hardware spending rose 37 percent to $195 million. April 2017 represented the highest hardware revenue in the US for an April since 2011.
Game sales rose 6 percent to $304 million, led by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Persona 5, as well as a "strong second month" for Breath of the Wild.
Here are some other key takeaways for April, via NPD analyst Mat Piscatella.
"April saw the release of Xbox 360 Call Of Duty: Black Ops II as a backward compatible game for the Xbox One, helping the title chart in the top 10," he said. "Persona 5 experienced the strongest debut month for any title in Persona franchise history, with packaged dollar sales five times that of the previous best-selling debut, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4."
For the year so far, Ghost Recon: Wildlands is the best-selling game overall, followed by another Ubisoft title, For Honor.
Finally, accessories and gamecard sales jumped 4 percent to $126 million. The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller was the top-selling gamepad for April.

PC gaming giant Razer today announced a partnership with Bungie for a new range of peripherals for Destiny 2. In a press release, Razer said it has a "suite" of Destiny 2-themed products on the way.
The first of which is the Razer DeathAdder Elite mouse--Razer says it's the "most accurate mouse ever created." Also coming is a Razer Ornata Chroma keyboard for Destiny 2 and the Razer ManO'War Tournament Edition headset. Razer is also producing a Destiny 2-themed Razer Goliathus Speed mouse mat.
"We're very excited to partner with Razer to create a line of premium gear that we know Destiny 2 players and action shooter fans will love," Bungie marketing boss Jim McQuillian said in a statement. "The team has come up with some cool ways to pair Destiny's art and designs with Razer's high-performance hardware, providing players with new ways to customize their Destiny 2 experience."
Razer's line of Destiny 2 items will go on sale in September alongside the game.
