Valve's Steam Link device is currently on sale from a few retailers like Amazon and GameStop for $20 brand new, which is $30 its retail price. Steam Link allows users to stream games from their gaming PC to any other display over the same network.
Games can be streamed up to 1080p at 60 FPS on Steam Link. It features three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI out, a 100 Mb/s Ethernet port, Wireless 802.11ac networking, and Bluetooth 4.0. Steam Link supports the Steam Controller, mouse and keyboard, and other input devices. Xbox One/360 controllers are also supported, but wireless controllers require a USB dongle to get working.
Many will find Steam Link to be a convenient and cost-effective solution to play PC games on a couch with a controller. The device essentially acts as a bridge between a PC and television and as the PC uses its power to run the game. However, network speed will determine the fidelity and fluidity of the games played over the device, though a wired connection will yield better results.
Broken Age is getting a limited edition physical release on PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The game first debuted in 2014, but has been digital-only on the systems up until this point.
Limited Run Games will release physical copies for sale next month--but only a "select amount." It also plans to sell some Broken Age merchandise at a discount to commemorate the release. This includes The Art of Broken Age's special edition for $35 and a Hexipal plushie for $15.
Physical copies of the game go up for sale on June 9 for $30. Meanwhile, there's good reason to believe Broken Age will be coming to Xbox One soon. An Xbox version of the game was rated by PEGI last month, suggesting an official announcement could come soon.
Broken Age follows the stories of two teenage characters on similar quests, but in seemingly completely different worlds. Players switch back and forth between the characters, eventually revealing the ways their two adventures are linked together. It's the first adventure game from director Tim Schafer since he created Grim Fandango in 1998, and it remains one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns of all time.
Broken Age was originally released in two parts; Act 1 came out in 2014, while Act 2 debuted in 2015. The full game is also available now on PC, and on iOS and Android.
Many of these are related to issues after disabling the HUD, but gameplay is also affected. For instance, the lure call should no longer be able to pull a bandit from the other side of a camp. A number of progression bugs that prevented players from advancing in the game have been resolved; these are detailed in the full patch notes below, but beware of potential spoilers.
Some problems with Photo mode have been addressed as well. For instance, one issue that's been resolved--sadly, I would argue--involved throwing a rock and then changing poses, which would cause Aloy's body "to bend, twist, and spin rapidly." At least Twin Peaks is now back to fill that void.
Developer Guerrilla Games notes that if you run into a problem, you should first try going back to a recent save. If that doesn't work, take a screenshot, make note of your location, and send all of that to Guerrilla's support team.
You can see everything that's changed in the patch notes below.
Horizon: Zero Dawn 1.21 Update Patch Notes
General Fixes
Fixed an issue with the lure call, where some players could lure bandits from the other side of the bandit camps, by reducing its range.
Fixed an issue where for some players, 'Strike from Above' would not activate when coming from a zip line.
Fixed an issue with 'Strike from Above' where for some players Aloy would get stuck until the strike would be completed.
The 'Inactive Quests' toggle option now also filters the 'New Quests' icons from the map screen.
Fixed an issue with the interaction markers when set to 'always off' in the custom HUD menu. If some players positioned the camera through a bandit's body the interaction markers would appear visible again.
Fixed an issue with the 'Show HUD on touch' menu option not resetting to the default value.
Fixed an issue where some players would not get a notification when they have leveled up if they had the 'XP bar' feature set to 'always off' in the custom HUD menu.
Fixed an issue where some players could suddenly be thrown from a Tallneck's head and killed when it makes a very sharp turn during its path.
Photo Mode Fixes
Fixed an issue where changing poses after throwing a rock would cause conflict between animations where Aloy's body would begin to bend, twist and spin rapidly.
Fixed an issue with the 'Look At' toggle and Body Poses being available during hit reactions that Aloy triggers on herself such as falling and grenade damage.
Fixed an issue with Aloy twisting and bending if the player selects the 'Look At' toggle shortly after closing the focus.
Fixed an issue where having previous Photo Mode settings active whilst in a new instance of Photo Mode with the Focus open would cause animation issues when pressing the triangle button.
Fixed an issue with the 'Greetings' option whilst on top of the Spire, it would state the player is located in the Estate.
Fixed an issue with the 'Greetings' option where the wrong weather effect would be mentioned while at Mother's Crown. Fixed an issue with the 'Field of view' option where it could cause several level of detail issues especially when overlooking Meridian.
Progression Fixes
SPOILERS
Fixed an issue in "Hunter's Blind" where some players cannot progress past Hunter's Blind and follow Talanah because Aloy was bound to the sequence of "The City of the Sun" quest.
Fixed an issue in "Underequipped" where some players encountered that one of the objectives would become blank once completed if the player started the quest at Hunter's Gathering.
Fixed an issue in "Maker's End" where some players were able to avoid a progression trigger, resulting in the player getting stuck on the 'Go to Ted's Office' objective.
Fixed an issue in "Deep Secrets of the Earth" where some players were not able to obtain the datapoints in Sobeck's office if the player wants to pick them up after the explosion caused by Helis, as they have disappeared.
The full trailer for the upcoming seventh season of Game of Thrones is here. The promo hints at some of the epic battle sequences that fans can expect from this penultimate season, which premieres in July. Check it out above.
However, showrunner David Benioff has explained the speed of events isn't because they are trying to cram more into a short season, more the place that storyline is now at.
"For a long time we've been talking about 'the wars to come,'" he said. "Well, that war is pretty much here. So it's really about trying to find a way to make the storytelling work without feeling like we're rushing it--you still want to give characters their due, and pretty much all the characters that are now left are all important characters. Even the ones who might have started out as relatively minor characters have become significant in their own right."
Season 7 of Game of Thrones premieres on July 16 on HBO.
No doubt thanks in part to the early success of its new Switch console, Nintendo's share price has hit a seven-year high.
The company's share price rose to ¥31,880 ($284), a 102% increase year-over-year. This exceeds the short-lived jump Nintendo experienced last year following the launch of Pokemon Go, Niantic's globally popular AR mobile game. While Nintendo didn't have a hand in developing Pokemon Go, the app's immediate success pushed the company's market value to hits highest point since April 2010. Despite this significant increase, the company's value is still substantially lower than its peak in 2007, when Nintendo's share price topped ¥70,000 thanks to fervor around the motion-controlled Wii.
Demand for Switch has been strong since the console launched worldwide back in March and quickly became the fastest-selling system in Nintendo's history. Despite supply shortages, Switch was the No. 1 selling console in the US for both March and April; No. 2 was Nintendo's NES Classic Edition, the recently discontinued plug-and-play replica of the company's first home console.
Nintendo's dedicated handheld 3DS, meanwhile, also continues to perform strongly. The company recently unveiled another iteration called the New 2DS XL, which goes on sale in the US and Europe on July 28. Nintendo is targeting the New 2DS XL to consumers who want something "in between" the higher-end New 3DS XL and the budget-priced 2DS.
Nintendo is looking to continue Switch's momentum throughout the rest of the year with a number of high-profile releases for the console. The cartoony brawler Arms is scheduled to arrive on June 16; we recently went hands-on with the game and found it to be deeper than you might expect. Nintendo is letting Switch owners try Arms early with a free Global Testpunch demo that kicks off this weekend, though only at certain times; you can find the full list here.
The team-based shooter Splatoon 2 is also slated to release this summer on July 21. Nintendo recently announced a Japanese-exclusive Switch bundle that includes the game and neon green and pink Joy-Cons, though that quickly sold out (fans can still purchase the empty box, however).
Nintendo is also reportedly planning to follow the short-lived NES Classic with a miniature replica of the Super NES. The plug-and-play console is rumored to launch sometime by the end of the year.
Ubisoft has released the cover art for Far Cry 5, revealing some of the characters that will be featured in its upcoming open-world shooter. As you can tell, the art takes some inspiration from The Last Supper, Leonardo da Vinci's depiction of Jesus Christ's final meal with his Apostles before his crucifixion.
Naturally, the themes of Da Vinci's painting is going to invite some speculation as to the story of Far Cry 5, in particular the Judas and betrayal elements, among many others. Take a look at the image for yourself below.
On May 22, Ubisoft confirmed Far Cry 5 will be set in Hope County, Montana. The location was revealed by way of teaser trailers. Each one showed of a different part of Hope County, but also had something disturbing happen at some point.
Ubisoft previously confirmed Far Cry 5 will be out during the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2018. There are no further details as of yet, but Ubisoft will be showing off the game on May 26 at 6 AM PT on its YouTube channel. Of course, GameSpot will also be providing in-depth coverage, so keep you eyes on the site.
If nothing else, Friday the 13th does a great job of both making you feel weak or powerful, depending on which side you're on. Playing as a camp counselor on the run from horror-icon Jason Voorhees, almost every move in Friday the 13th could be your last. One sloppy mistake--slamming a door shut, a frightful gasp, or testing your flashlight in a moment of panic--is all it takes for Jason to quickly pinpoint your location and move in for a kill. Unsurprisingly, with Jason's strength and supernatural powers under your command, a night at the infamous Camp Crystal Lake takes on a far more maleficent tone. Maim, rend, or pulverize the innocent; whatever it takes to win.
The game's asymmetrical multiplayer arrangement benefits from this dichotomy, particularly because counselors are encouraged to escape with their wits rather than to outright "defeat" Jason. However, the extent to which the game develops as you unlock new characters and abilities remains a mystery as we've only had a day and a dozen matches to put it through its paces.
Our full review will come in the near future, once we've had the chance to explore the extent of the game's maps, characters, and the multiple ways you can fight back against the formidable slasher, Jason.
Some things, however, are immediately clear. It doesn't take long for the hunter-versus-hunted dynamic to take hold, but there are also plenty of telltale signs right up front that Friday the 13th could benefit from ongoing development and future updates. Facial animations are often laughable; abrupt and cartoony in a way that feels at odds with the ever-present sense of dread you feel with Jason nipping at your heels. It's not clear whether this was done intentionally or for comedic relief.
The most egregious example is in the opening cutscene, which happens to be the same from map to map save for backdrop adjustments. Chad, the game's version of the blonde moneybags archetype from the movies, has a face that contorts like a surprised character from a low-budget '90s CG cartoon: stiff and otherworldly. There are also plenty of mistimed and misdirected animations that occur when sprinting around camp and performing tasks such as opening and closing windows. Characters face the wrong way, or get caught in a stuttering loop.
All of these blemishes are easily forgiven in the moment as nothing ends up broken mid-match for long, but problems exist elsewhere that can make even getting into a match something of a chore. Currently, you may find that you're booted from pre-match lobbies on a regular basis due to connection issues. Or, you may wind up in a match with nothing on your screen, save for the mini-map in the lower-right corner. Call them launch woes or something else, but these events aren't uncommon enough to simply brush off.
But perhaps the biggest annoyance of all comes down to the game's progression system, which rewards you with experience points for completing small feats. In isolation, it's a good way to look forward to new characters (with new stats) and the ability to roll for random perks as you continue to play the game. The catch is that you need to wait for a match to end to collect your experience (and a fat bonus for sticking it out), which can take upwards of 15 minutes if you're caught by Jason early on. To be fair, there is a small chance that you will be resurrected as a special character armed with a shotgun and high stats, but waiting for minutes on end while you jump from one player's camera to the next to pass the time all but saps your interest in this rare event and the match at large.
We will unfortunately have to put up with this as we continue to test Friday the 13th's servers, but the hope is that the more we play, the better survivors we become, and the less downtime we'll have to endure. While it's fair to say that the game currently bears a number of issues, it's still a very tense experience that captures the fear that made the movies genre classics. It would be a stretch to call Friday the 13th: The Game a classic in the making, but it definitely has something going for it beyond its hockey-mask wearing murder man. How that fits into the overall picture remains to be seen, so check back in the coming days for our full review.
The spectacular final trailer for the upcoming sci-fi adventure Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is here. The movie is directed by The Fifth Element's Luc Besson and it hits theaters in July. Check out the new trailer below:
"My first answer was, 'Because it's impossible.' In my memory, there are basically two actors and a billion monsters, and I didn't know how we could do it. I went back to the comics to read them again. I arrived at the same conclusion--impossible.
"But every year I looked again and thought, maybe one day it is possible. So I took an option, and started writing a little bit."
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is released on July 27.
[Updated May 24 with the full list of Xbox Game Pass launch titles.]
Microsoft's new Netflix-style subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, is now available. For $10/month, subscribers can play more than 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games (via backwards compatibility) on Xbox One as much as they want for as long as the title is available. The catalog will be refreshed on a monthly basis as a small number games are added and others removed.
Microsoft says it aims to stock the Xbox Game Pass library with titles across a number of popular genres, including action, adventure, shooter, puzzle, strategy, and RPG.
Following a testing period that was limited to some Xbox One owners, Microsoft's new Netflix-style games service is almost here. And if you're an Xbox Live Gold member, you can actually check it out starting today.
Gold subscribers can try out the service right now, courtesy of a free 14-day trial. Those without a Gold subscription can try out Game Pass (again with a free trial) starting on June 1, as announced in the video below, which features actor Danny McBride doing his thing. Further down, you'll also find an overview video of the service from Microsoft.
Xbox Game Pass is a subscription-based service that allows users to play games from a library of select titles as much as they want, similar to the way Netflix operates. But unlike Netflix's traditional streaming setup, you'll download these games to your system before playing them. Should you want to purchase a Game Pass title outright, subscribers will receive an "exclusive" discount.
World War I shooter Verdun is getting a standalone expansion, Blackmill Games and M2H announced today. Called Tannenberg, the expansion is focused on action in the Eastern Front, which the developers say does not always get much attention from entertainment properties.
The expansion's name comes from the Battle of Tannenberg, which took place in 1914. According to Blackmill developer Jos Hoebe, the game will show the "more mobile side" of World War I.
"The Russians and AustroHungarians played a huge part in the First World War and we're looking forward to portraying their contribution," Hoebe said. "The Eastern Front didn't see the same trench warfare as in the West--in Tannenberg we offer players the experience of a more mobile side of the war which many people may be unfamiliar with."
Tannenberg will feature a new game mode that supports 64 players--32 on each side. The environments will be varied, with the Entente and Central Powers fighting in all manner of places, ranging from "exposed snowy plains and thick forests to burned villages and mountain pastures."
A sneak peek trailer for Tannenberg can be seen in the video above. The game is due out on PC this year, and you can see its Steam page here.
Verdun launched in April 2015, letting players experience war in the Eastern Front. The game has sold more than 850,000 copies, Blackmill and M2H said in their announcement for Tannenberg today.
Vanity Fair are running a major feature on Star Wars: The Last Jedi this month, and following yesterday's covers, a batch of new imagery has been released. These pictures were taken by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz, and they include a first look at two new characters, played by Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern. Check them all out in the gallery below:
Pictures: Vanity Fair/Annie Leibovitz
In the Vanity Fair interview, director Ryan Johnson explained that Del Toro's mysterious character is unnamed in the movie but was known on set as "DJ." "You'll see--there's a reason why we call him DJ," he said. Dern, meanwhile, is playing a resistance officer named Vice Admiral Holdo.
Johnson also hinted at some of the different locations that we can expect to see in The Last Jedi when it arrives in December, including a "casino city" called Canto Bight.
"[It's a] Star Wars Monte Carlo–type environment, a little James Bond–ish, a little To Catch a Thief," he revealed. "It was an interesting challenge, portraying luxury and wealth in this universe. I was thinking, OK, let's go ultra-glamour. Let's create a playground, basically, for rich assholes."
The director also stated that much of the movie's comic relief will come from this setting. "I didn't want this to be a dirge, a heavy-osity movie," he said. "So one thing I've tried really hard to do is keep the humor in there, to maintain the feeling, amid all the heavy operatic moments, that you're on a fun ride."
The Last Jedi stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. It hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
The latest trailer for Marvel's upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming was released earlier today, and it has now been joined by a new poster. It's very much in the "floating head" style of modern movie posters--a chaotic mess of people looking in different directions, with little sense of what the film will deliver. But it gets the film's big stars and iconic characters on there, which is presumably the whole point--check it out below:
"I think it has a unique, surprising tone that's different from the others, and different from the other movies in this universe," he said. "I'm pretty proud of the tone we struck. It's fun. It's able to go from a very small story, and really emotional small stakes and just get bigger and bigger until it's on a massive scale without ever losing sight of the story we were trying to tell."
A new Spider-Man game is also in development for PlayStation 4, made by Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games. A release date hasn't been announced, but we know it won't follow Homecoming's story.
The digital version of Nintendo's upcoming fighting game, Arms, will take up less space on your Switch than you might think. According to a screengrab of the game's store listing from Reddit user aftheblackguy, the brawler weighs in at just 2.2 GB.
This is for the UK version of the title, but US and Australian versions will likely be similar to that figure. Take a look at the screengrab below.
In other Arms news, a new Japanese trailer was recently revealed, showing off the game's different control schemes, characters, and game modes. Take a look at that here.
If you can't wait to try Arms for yourself, you don't have long to wait. A free demo--or "Global Testpunch," as Nintendo is calling it--is coming, starting this weekend. The full game, meanwhile, launches for Nintendo Switch on June 16--take a look at our recent Arms preview for more.
Sony has introduced a new section to the PlayStation Store where developers and other notable industry figures provide curated game recommendations.
"The Creators," as it's being called, currently features names such as PlayStation Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, Media Molecule's studio director Siobhan Reddy, and Street Fighter executive producer Yoshinori Ono.
Of course, most of the people featured in The Creators recommend their own games and the whole thing feels more like a new way to present a promotional sale, but it will be interesting to see if Sony builds on the idea and continues to have curated lists on the store. As of yet it's unclear whether this section will remain on the store or is available for a limited time.
Currently, The Creators section is only available on the US PlayStation Store. It's unclear whether it will also appear in other territories. You can take a look at all the curators featured in the section below.
Herman Hulst -- Co-founder and Managing director of Guerrilla Games
Siobhan Reddy -- Studio director of Media Molecule
Yoshinori Ono -- Executive producer of the Street Fighter series
Looking ahead for PlayStation, Sony is scheduled to hold its E3 2017 press conference on Monday, June 12, at 6 PM PT/9 PM ET (2 AM BST on June 13). As with previous years, there will be plenty of information on the company's upcoming slate of titles and no doubt a few surprise announcements too.
A new trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming has arrived.
The video shows off Tom Holland as Spider-Man as he grows in confidence with his abilities. In one sequence, he helps an elderly lady and gets a churro as a reward, which is nice. There is a pretty dramatic scene in Washington, D.C., while we also see some of Michael Keaton's evil Vulture and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man/Spider-Man's mentor.
The film premieres on July 7 and also stars Marisa Tomei, and Donald Glover. It's directed by Cop Car's Jon Watts, who said recently that the film has a "unique, surprising" tone that will set it apart from the films that came before it.
A new Spider-Man game is in development for PlayStation 4, made by Ratchet & Clank developer Insomniac Games. A release date hasn't been announced, but we know it won't follow Homecoming's story.
Square Enix has announced that a new update is coming to Final Fantasy XV this week and revealed what's in it. Due out on May 24, the new update will adds "Stinky Tofu with a Mellow Flavor" to Ignis' cuisine options. This comes to the game following a survey in Taiwan where fans asked for it.
For those unaware, stinky tofu is tofu that has a strong, gross-smelling odor that you probably wouldn't associate with something you want to eat. You can literally smell this tofu from blocks away.
The new Final Fantasy XV update also fixes a bug that would cause the game to close in some situations when the player visits the Timed Quest rankings screen.
The full patch notes follow below, as translated by Gematsu. The site also has an image of what the stinky tofu looks like in the game, which you can see here.
As per the results of a survey in Taiwan, "Stinky Tofu with a Mellow Flavor" has been added to Ignis' cuisine.
The winning photograph in the 2nd Snapshot Contest is displayed at the restaurant in Hammerhead.
A survey regarding future updates has been added to the title screen. (This survey will end in late June.)
Fixed a bug that would forcibly close the game when on the Timed Quest rankings screen.
Fixed various bugs.
In other news, Square Enix will launch a new "Jumper Style" outfit for Noctis on May 30.
In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the character Finn told Han Solo that he's a "big deal" in the Resistance. He wasn't telling the truth at the time, but it seems that in this year's The Last Jedi, Finn is finally indeed a bonafide "big deal."
"The funny thing is, between VII and VIII, Finn's now a big deal! He is now a big deal," actor John Boyega told Entertainment Weekly.
At the end of The Force Awakens, Finn fights heroically to take down the Starkiller Base before getting seriously injured at the hands of Kylo Ren. All of this is to say, Finn is finally the man of the hour.
"Think about what the gossip's going to be like in the Resistance: 'Oh, that's the guy that got slashed down by Kylo?'" Boyega said. "Finn's a big deal."
When we first see Finn in The Last Jedi, he's going to be struggling, still recovering from what happened in The Last Jedi. "There's some additional few things that need to be done to make him mobile. He's definitely in a place where he needs some help," Boyega said.
The actor went on to say that the injury he sustained from Ren was a "grounding injury," pointing out that a lightsaber cut burns the skins and cells ("it's not just a piece of flame that whacks your body," he said). But Finn does recover and "when he does… oh, he does," Boyega said.
Finally, Boyega revealed that Finn will spend a lot of time in The Last Jedi on an adventure with the character Rose, who is played by Kelly Marie Tran.
The Last Jedi stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Domhnall Gleeson, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. It hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
With just a week left in May, Netflix has now announced all the shows and movies coming to and leaving the popular streaming service for June 2017.
Starting with new additions, the war movie Full Metal Jacket, 2000's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, M. Night Shyamalan's The Sixth Sense, and the David Fincher film Zodiac all debut on June 1, according to Uproxx. The Netflix original series Orange is the New Black returns for its fifth season on June 9, while the Netflix original movie involving a giant pig creature, Okja, starring Tilda Swinton, Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Giancarlo Espositio premieres on June 28.
As for what's on the way out, movies that I enjoy maybe more than I should, D2: The Mighty Ducks and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, leave on June 1, alongside The Blair Witch Project and This Is Spinal Tap.
Ubisoft is conducting a round of maintenance on the Rainbow Six Siege servers this week. Posting on its website, the company confirmed the maintenance period will follow this schedule:
PS4 -- 9 AM - 10 AM ET
Xbox One -- 10 AM - 11 AM ET
PC -- 11 AM -- 11:59 AM ET
During the maintenance period, Ubisoft will perform some kind of a "rank reset," while the background art will change to reflect the start of the game's Operation Health initiative.
The other big piece of news about Siege today that Ubisoft has provided a rundown of the items it hopes to address in the game's next patch, 2.2.1 or if necessary, the one after that, 2.2.2. You can see a quick breakdown of each below, while Ubisoft will share further specifics about the changes and answer fan questions about them in the coming weeks.
Operation Health is the name for Ubisoft's effort to improve the "overall Rainbow Six Siege experience." Over the next few months, Ubisoft will roll out changes to this end, while some DLC has been canceled as a result of the new plan.
We are focusing on the testing and implementation of One Step Matchmaking. We are currently testing this on the TTS.
Map Fixes
Our level design team will be taking a pass on all maps to correct various bugs/glitches.
Game Crashes
Our technical team will be reviewing the layers of code that are leading to game crashes. This will provide you with a more stable playing experience.
Hit Boxes
Currently being tested on the Technical Test Server, the hit box refactor is continuing to under-go further testing prior to being deployed to the live build of the game.
Spawn Killing
We have seen the community's frustrations regarding spawn killing, and our level design teams will be taking steps to mitigate the locations where this is still possible. To be clear, spawn killing is when a Defender is able to kill you within seconds of spawning. Running towards the objective and dying for not using cover is not considered spawn killing.
Join in Progress
We do not intend for players to be placed into Ranked matches that are already in progress. We are also going to be working on the various bugs encountered by people when they join a match in progress in Casual.
Defuser issues (audio, planting, destroying)
Interaction with the Defuser is not always fluid and intuitive, and sometimes does not work as intended. We will be doing a pass on the Defuser as a whole to address these issues. The various Defuser issues will be worked on throughout the entirety of Operation Health.
Glaz
Glaz will be receiving some attention. Stay tuned for details!
Doug Liman will no longer direct DC's upcoming Justice League Dark film, according to a report.
Hollywood news site Variety says it has heard from sources that Liman, who directed The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow, exited the project due to scheduling conflicts. Liman is also directing the new movie Chaos Walking.
Insiders told Variety that Justice League Dark studio Warner Bros. is now holding meetings with directors to find someone to replace Liman. A new director could be signed "shortly."
Speaking about his plans for Justice League Dark earlier this year, Liman said, "I have a really amazing take on it...," going on to say his version of the movie would be anything but straightforward.
"I'm not going to do something campy either. I have a take on it that isn't like anything else out there. At the end of the day, I make character-driven movies," he said.
Justice League Dark comprises more supernatural members of the DC Universe, such as John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Swamp Thing, and Deadman.
According to Variety's report, Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro was at one time attached to direct the Justice League Dark movie before dropping out.
With a week left in May, Microsoft today announced the Games With Gold lineup for June 2017.
Xbox One owners with a Gold subscription get Speedrunners, a racing game that makes its debut on June 1 as a freebie, as well as Ubisoft's open-world action game Watch Dogs. The free titles on Xbox 360 for June (which also play on Xbox One through backwards compatibility), including Assassin's Creed III and Dragon Age: Origins.
A bonus offer is available in June on Xbox One for Gold members in the form of multiplayer DLC for the recently released Phantom Dust re-release. The video above shows that this DLC is normally priced at $15, though its Xbox Store page lists is as being free, so we're not sure what's going on there.
Another thing to note is that one of May 2017's free Games With Gold titles, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, will continue to be free on Xbox One until June 15.
The holiday season is usually a popular time for new game releases, but history has shown that games, or consoles for that matter, don't need to launch then to enjoy success. In an earnings call today, Take-Two president Strauss Zelnick said this is also true for Red Dead Redemption 2.
"For a title like this, I don't think the launch window really matters," he said when asked about a potential summer 2018 release for the highly anticipated action game.
Zelnick pointed out that 2010's Red Dead Redemption was released in May, and it went on to become an "extraordinarily successful" game for Take-Two.
"Red Dead Redemption went out in May and was an extraordinarily successful title," he said. "Consumers are consuming entertainment year-round now; they don't stop in the summer months. We believe that if you give people an extraordinary experience, they will show up for it."
Star Tom Cruise said today in an appearance on Australian morning show Sunrise that the sequel is "definitely happening." He added that he will "probably" start filming in the next year.
Directed by the late Tony Scott, Top Gun was released 31 years ago, in 1986. Cruise played Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, while the film also starred Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, and Tom Skerritt. The movie was nominated for multiple Oscars, winning Best Music, Original Song for "Take My Breath Away."
The movie was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. In January last year, Bruckheimer tweeted a picture of himself and Cruise, saying the pair talked about "a little Top Gun 2."
There is no word yet on the story for Top Gun 2, which actors may return (besides Cruise), or who would direct. We'll report back with more information as it's made available.
"The purpose of the delay for Red Dead Redemption 2 is to make sure we deliver the most extraordinary we're capable of providing," Strauss Zelnick said during an earnings call today.
An analyst asked Zelnick if there was a specific category that the delay would fall under. Was it the result of a specific issue with the game? That's not the case. Instead, Rockstar is pushing the game out further so it can give the team more time to realize its vision for the title, which is the first that Rockstar has made for the ground up for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
"We have not run into particular issues," Zelnick said. "We are building a new game from the ground up for the first time for new-generation consoles. And the pressure that we put on ourselves to deliver excellence and to delight consumers is extraordinary.
"We want to make sure that the appropriate time is taken to do the very best job we can and I that's what consumers expect of Rockstar games and that's what Rockstar games typically delivers. So we support emphatically the label's decision and we are utterly confident that it will prove in time to be wise first and foremost creatively and artistically, economically as well."
Also during the call, Zelnick said it's an "extraordinary understatement" to say that Take-Two is highly confident in Red Dead Redemption 2's ability to appeal to a wide audience. But at the same time, he acknowledged that it's not in his nature to claim victory before it occurs.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch during Take-Two's fiscal year 2019, which means it will arrive sometime between April 2018 and March 2019.
It's a good week to be an Xbox gamer, on both Xbox One and 360. This week's Deals with Gold includes some top Xbox One titles, like Overwatch's Game of the Year Edition for US $39, Mafia III for $20, Battlefield 1 for $30, and Titanfall 2 for $20. At the same time, Microsoft Studios is having its own sale where you can get big deals on its games.
In the Microsoft sale, you can get 50% off Gears of War 4 on Xbox One for $30, while Gears of War 4's Ultimate Edition is 40% off at $60. If you love Halo, many games from the series are on sale too. If you play Xbox 360, many games are 80-85% off including Alien Rage for $15, Dogfight 1942 for $10, and Sniper: Ghost Warrior for $15 too. In the Microsoft sale, Crackdown is just $5, Crackdown 2 is $8, and Fable Anniversary is $16 after a 60% or more discount.
To take advantage of many of the Deals with Gold you need to be a Xbox Live Gold member, while the Microsoft publisher's sale is open to all players. Both sales are on until May 29, and you can get a look at the full list of games below.
If you're picking up a Project Scorpio console, you can expect to play the "very best console version" of games this year, according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer.
Asked on Twitter if games like Destiny 2 and Call of Duty: WWII (presumably) will look better on Scorpio, Spencer said, "I'm very confident, from what we are seeing and hearing, Scorpio will be the very best console version of games this year."
According to Microsoft, Scorpio--or whatever name Microsoft ends up giving it--is the "most powerful console ever made." It boasts 6 teraflops of performance, including 326 GB/s of memory bandwidth. Additionally, Microsoft says the console's engine is the "most powerful console gaming processor ever created." The console has a vapor chamber that uses "advanced liquid-cooling," while it also uses the Hovis Method to maximize performance and minimize power consumption.
All Xbox One games work on Scorpio, though the Scorpio editions can look and perform better, in some cases, if developers want to do that. It is a similar situation with PS4 and PS4 Pro.
Microsoft is expected to share more details on Scorpio at E3 or sooner. Presumably we will learn the console's official name and price, among other things, in the weeks and months to come before the system's launch this holiday.
In other Xbox news, Microsoft's E3 2017 planning is taking shape. Microsoft conducted an end-to-end runthrough of its briefing today, which apparently took all day.
First end to end run through of our E3 show today on our full rehearsal stage. Room is full, should be a great day.
Additionally, Microsoft Studios boss Shannon Loftis said the company may soon announce at least a partial list of the games it's bringing to and showing off at E3.
The Xbox E3 briefing this year takes place on a new day, Sunday, starting at 2 PM PT on June 11. GameSpot will bring you all the news from the event as it's announced.
Grand Theft Auto V continues to be a massive success. More than three years after the game's release in 2013, the open-world action game has now passed 80 million units shipped worldwide. This is up from 75 million units back in February. Continued strong sales is no surprise, given GTA V continues to make it onto the top-selling charts in the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
During an conference call after Take-Two's latest earnings report today, CEO Strauss Zelnick said GTA V and GTA Online "outperformed [Take-Two's] expectations during the fourth quarter as they have in every period since they released." GTA Online has been a big winner as well, with the game continuing to see year-over-year growth in recurrent spending. Zelnick said Rockstar is planning "much more" in terms of future updates.
Also during the call, Zelnick praised GTA V for being the "standard bearer for creative excellence" in the video game industry.
Rockstar's next game, Red Dead Redemption 2, has been delayed and is now coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Spring 2018. You can read more about the delay and why it happened here.

Bungie has released two cinematic trailers for Destiny 2 so far, and although they don't show any gameplay, they reveal some of the themes that will be important for the game's story. They are also gorgeous, and recently two of the artists who contributed to the trailers have posted some of the high-resolution images that they worked on.
Nick Hiatt and Darek Zabrocki, concept artists who have worked on games in the past, published pieces of art that they made for the cinematic trailers. Zabrocki's piece is from the first video, and it shows the Last City under attack while the Traveler hangs over it:
Hiatt's image, on the other hand, is from the trailer released last week. It shows a picturesque scene of the Last City and the Traveler before it is attacked.
If you want these for your desktop background, you can check out the full-resolution images here for Hiatt's and here for Zabrocki's. You can also see some of their other work at their respective Artstation profiles, here and here, respectively.
