The Mass Effect franchise is currently in a state of suspended animation following the lackluster showing by the series' fourth game, Mass Effect Andromeda. But there's still a big Mass Effect following out there, and developer BioWare knows it--that's why it acknowledges November 7 each year as "N7 Day" with some messaging to fans to remind them of their experiences trying to save the Milky Way Galaxy from the Reaper threat.
And it seems like BioWare boss Casey Hudson just used the studio's N7 Day Twitter post to hint at the future of Mass Effect.
BioWare posted a short video on Twitter mostly made up of people from both the studio and the fan community talking about why they like Mass Effect. It also includes an announcement that the studio turned out a free update for Andromeda on Xbox One X that improves the game's graphics.
What might be the most interesting part is the ending, though, where Hudson makes a statement laden with innuendo: "It means coming into the studio every day, dreaming about what the next great Mass Effect game will be."
Then he stares right into the camera for a long moment as he sips from a Mass Effect mug with the famous Commander Shepard line, "I Should Go," stenciled on the side. What does it mean???
Maybe nothing. After all, it's not like BioWare or its owner, Electronic Arts, ever said Mass Effect was officially canceled--but single-player DLC for Mass Effect Andromeda never materialized, despite some clear setups for some in the story, after that game received a rough reception from both fans and critics. BioWare has been putting its efforts into Anthem, its open-world sci-fi multiplayer game, which is set to release in February.
It sure does seem like Hudson's lingering look at the camera is a meaningful wink to fans, letting them know that the Mass Effect series hasn't been killed off in a boardroom somewhere. And in a blog post in August, Hudson noted that BioWare knows fans want more Mass Effect (and more of its fantasy franchise, Dragon Age), and said the studio has people working on "secret projects," even though he wouldn't enumerate what they might be. So that meaningful look seems like a playful reminder to fans on N7 Day that BioWare hasn't forgotten about them.
There's one the big question of what Mass Effect might look like, post-Andromeda. Would BioWare maintain the course set by the fourth game, which spins off from the original trilogy and takes place in a whole new galaxy, or would that game's rough reception lead to a whole new course?
If Hudson is telling fans to keep the faith for the future of Mass Effect, though, it'll likely be a long time before we hear anything more about it, thanks in part to Anthem. In the meantime, fans might just have to watch BioWare communications for secret messages.
We've updated this post with the details for the third and final step of Destiny 2's Murder Mystery quest, which unlocked on November 13. Here's what you need to know to complete all three steps and claim Thunderlord.
Destiny 2's Festival of the Lost has ended, but there's still one piece of Destiny's Halloween-themed event to go. It's a murder mystery quest line Bungie teased at the start of the Festival, in which players are tasked with figuring out what happened to Master Ives, the Cryptarch formerly seen in the Reef back in the first Destiny.
Ives' death is both a story point and a quest to get a new Exotic weapon. That gun is Thunderlord, a lightning-slinging machine gun from the original Destiny that, until now, hadn't shown up in the sequel. Unlocking it is a multi-step but relatively low-level quest, whose first step unlocked on October 30, the second on November 6, and the final on November 13. With that last step, you'll return to some familiar territory if you've played Destiny 1: Earth's Cosmodrome in Old Russia.
To start it, head to Amanda Holliday in the Tower, where you'll receive Master Ives' journal. The pursuit item is colored gold, like other Exotic weapons quests, and requires players to search out the missing pages from Ives' diary out in the world. Here's how to solve the mystery and get Thunderlord.
Step 1: The Crytarch's Journal
Clearing that first step is actually pretty easy to accomplish. There are 10 pages to acquire, and players can get them either by finding Legendary engrams in various activities--including Gambit, the Crucible, Strikes, and everything else you already do in Destiny 2--or from killing tougher Fallen enemies in the EDZ on Earth.
Actually snagging all the pages is an easy feat to knock out if you head to the EDZ. You're looking for Fallen with orange-colored health bars, which are otherwise known as Elite bad guys. You need the orange enemies in particular; you won't get pages from Majors, who have yellow health bars, like the ones designated as high-value targets, for instance.
The quickest way to find Elite Fallen to kill in the EDZ is to find a public event and join it. The Glimmer Mining event that takes place in various places in the EDZ is a solid bet, especially if you knock it up to its Heroic level. You won't get a page for every Elite you kill, but the drop rate is pretty high--one or two public events should do it.
If you don't feel like messing around on Earth, you can also spend some shards at the Cryptarch in the Tower to quickly gather up the Legendary engrams you need to complete the step. That method will cost you 250 Legendary shards if you buy 10 engrams to get all 10 pages. Given how easy it is to get the pages in the EDZ or by earning Legendaries organically, though, you probably don't need to waste the shards.
Step 2: Hunting The Fallen
The second step is almost as quick and easy as the first. It returns you to the EDZ, this time to complete four Lost Sectors. You'll start with a batch of three that need cleaning out: Atrium, Widow's Walk, and Terminus East. If you're not familiar with the names, those are the three Lost Sectors located in the Trostland area of the EDZ.
You'll find Atrium in the church where Devrim Kay hangs out, Widow's Walk in the northwest corner of the area, and Terminus East in the northeast corner. Once you've wrecked the Major enemies in all three, you'll get a new step that directs you to yet another Lost Sector, called Whispered Falls.
Jump on your Sparrow and drive west to the Outskirts area, and look for the Lost Sector up in the hills in the west end of the area. It's north of the narrower portion of the map you drive through to access Winding Cove.
Kill the Major in Whispered Falls and you'll need to wait for Amanda Holliday to summon you back to the Tower. She'll eventually give you new coordinates, which will send you to the third and final stage of the quest.
Step 3: Return To The Cosmodrome
Your final step for the mission unlocks when you're prompted to return to Amanda Holliday. She'll identify a strange teleporter in Earth's European Dead Zone you should go check out--it's actually a Mission that starts you on the final step of the quest. To get there, warp into the Winding Cove location in the EDZ, then ride east toward the Outskirts. You'll find the mission start in the northern part of the canyon in the Whispered Falls Lost Sector. Fight your way inside to reach the teleporter.
Starting the mission warps you back to the Cosmodrome, the place where Destiny players first started way back in the beginning of the original game. You're basically following the path of the very first Destiny mission, fighting through Fallen into the Wall around the Cosmodrome. Keep following the mission markers until you get inside, where you'll face a big battle with a Fallen Captain called Kikliss, Murderer, and a huge batch of minion enemies.
This is the toughest fight of the mission by far, so bring your best guns and try to keep moving. Smaller Fallen enemies will continually spawn into the battle, so Supers that take out lots of enemies at once or are good for crowd control will help. Once you damage Kikliss enough, a giant Servitor will join the fight, which makes it even more annoying. Try to keep space between you and Kikliss while you focus your fire on the Servitor, since it can make other enemies invincible--including the boss.
Killing the Servitor should make it a little easier to take down Kikliss, which is your main objective for the mission. Once you do, you'll be prompted to fight your way back out the Cosmodrome. Back outside, you'll get a message from Amanda Holliday suggesting that this could be your last time back in the Cosmodrome, and you'll see an objective prompt reading, "Leave The Cosmodrome?" It seems Destiny 2 is suggesting there might be more secrets to find hidden in Russia, so take your time in leaving to look around. We haven't found whatever secret the game is hinting at just yet, but we'll update this guide when we do.
If you approach the teleporter near where you started, you'll be sent back to orbit and prompted to return to Holliday in the Tower. When you do, she'll wonder about what the Fallen who killed Master Ives were really after, but she'll also thank you for avenging his death. Your final reward is a "trinket" she found in his stuff, which is none other than the sparking machine gun Thunderlord. The Exotic goes in your Heavy weapon slot, and carries the "Reign Havoc" perk, which causes lightning strikes from the sky as you rack up kills with bullets.
Walmart will have a deal on nearly every console on the market (with PS4 Pro being the notable absence). You'll be able to get a PS4 Slim 1TB with Spider-Man for $199. The Xbox One S Minecraft Creators Bundle will be marked down to $199, and you'll be able to save $100 on an Xbox One X, bringing the price down to $399. Nintendo Switch will still cost $299, but you'll get a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the purchase. Finally, Nintendo 2DS with Super Mario Maker will be $79. These deals fall in line with the official Black Friday promotions announced by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, though Walmart (like Sam's Club) hacks off an extra dollar.
When it comes to games, it might be quicker to list the ones that won't be on sale. There will be tons of great deals, making Black Friday a good time to grab anything you've had an eye on recently. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be marked down to $40, which is $5 cheaper than it will be at Target and Best Buy. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is dipping to $35, as is Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection. And while they're not getting discounts, Walmart is offering exclusive steelbook versions of Fallout 76 and Red Dead Redemption 2 for $60 each.
As with many other retailers, Walmart isn't waiting until Friday to begin offering its discounts. The deals begin at 6 PM local time on Thursday, November 22 (Thanksgiving in the US). Online shoppers will get access to the discounts even earlier; Black Friday deals at Walmart.com will start on Wednesday, November 21 at 10 PM ET (7 PM PT).
You can find the full list of discounted items for each platform below. And if you want to see all the other items Walmart will have on sale, check out the full Walmart Black Friday ad.
Thanksgiving is a week away, meaning it's almost time to head to Best Buy on Black Friday to pick up some physical copies of your favorite movies and television series. Below, we've rounded up all of the movies and shows the retailer has announced it will discount in its Black Friday preview ad. These include Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and more. If you're eager to start shopping, the retailer has launched a pre-Black Friday sale that lasts through November 17 and includes some movies and shows, though the bulk of the good deals start next week.
Best Buy may have cut back on the amount of physical copies of movies and TV series it carries in the store, but the retailer still plans on having some huge deals on DVDs, Blu-Rays, and 4K discs, many of which come with digital codes as well. There is a large selection of physical movies and TV shows on sale for the event, and there are a few you may want to keep your eye on. HBO's World War II limited series Band of Brothers is available on Blu-ray for $10 or you can pick up Episodes I-VI of Star Wars on Blu-ray for $20. If you recently got a 4K player, there are plenty of movies to help fill out your collection for low prices. Terminator 2, John Wick, and the original Halloween will all be priced at $8 apiece.
Check out the full list of movies and TV series that will be on sale at Best Buy during the Black Friday event. If there are changes in the upcoming weeks, they will be added below. Additionally, you can see all of Best Buy's TV and tech Black Friday deals from its circular, as well as the Marvel movies on sale everywhere.
Best Buy's Black Friday sale starts on Thursday, November 22 at 5PM, locally, and the doors will close at 1 AM on November 23. Then, at 8 AM, Best Buy will reopen, but you may want to check with your local retailer for the hours, as they may vary.
If you're a member of My Best Buy, you'll have early access to these deals once Black Friday week arrives. On Sunday, November 18, Elite Plus and Elite members of the service get access to the sales, and on Monday, November 19 and Tuesday, November 20, all My Best Buy members will be able to get the Black Friday discounts. You can sign up at Best Buy to prepare yourself for the holiday.
Black Friday is now a week away. 2018's deals look to be better than last year's and you can actually find some Nintendo Switch game deals right now thanks to Best Buy's pre-Black Friday sale. But the majority of the deals, including Switch bundles and games, start next week.
Many stores have already released their ads, and in some cases, their offers will be available hours or even days in advance. In terms of the Nintendo Switch console, we're seeing an identical deal popping up in a lot of places since we first saw it in Target's preview ad. Target, Walmart, and Best Buy will sell the system for $300, as per usual (or $299 in Walmart's case), but the system will be a special bundle that comes with a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Unfortunately, if you were hoping for a sub-$300 Switch, we have yet to see anyone drop the system's price. If the aforementioned bundle doesn't appeal to you, Kohl's has a more expensive option that also comes with $90 in Kohl's Cash.
A large number of Switch games are on sale, although the sheer scale of these deals is not the same as on PS4 or Xbox One, as you'd expect. Still, there are some good offers: last year's surprisingly excellent XCOM-like, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, drops to $20 at Best Buy; Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate drops to $35 at Target, Walmart, and Best Buy; Arms goes to $35 at Walmart; and Bayonetta 2 (which includes the previous game) will be $40 at Best Buy.
Below, you'll find all of the Black Friday deals on Switch consoles, games, and accessories that we've spotted so far. More deals should be announced in the day ahead, and we'll keep this page updated. For even more, check out our full Black Friday deals coverage.
Ebay has announced another sales promotion revolving around Black Friday, but this one boasts that it's better than Black Friday. The promotion centers on a full week of beating competitor prices for the retail holiday across several items. The promotion runs November 12-18, and the prices go into effect at 5 AM PT each day.
As of this writing (November 15), you'll still find Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox One for $48, and it's matching or beating Xbox One controller ($40) and Black Ops 4 for PS4 ($45) deals that will be available from other retailers. These deals continue to change, so stay tuned for more.
The deal for Monday was a Samsung 32" Smart LED HD TV for $175, beating the advertised Target deal of $179. Tuesday offered an Xbox One wireless controller for $35, undercutting Walmart's price of $39. The deals will also include NBA 2K19 for $27 (vs $30 at Target) and Apple AirPods for $149.
Naturally, these game and tech deals come alongside several other discounts on other items, from coffee makers to boots to watches. Ebay is also offering free shipping on these deals, and a "Best Price Guarantee" that will give 110% the price difference on competitors. You can check out the full line-up at the Ebay deal site.
Black Friday is traditionally the Friday immediately following the Thanksgiving holiday, but as retailers compete for customers the discounts have begun expanding to the weeks before and after as well. It's a good time to grab cheap games and hardware, so check out our Black Friday deals roundups for all the best prices.
We're now a week out from Black Friday. In 2018, Black Friday is on November 23, but many deals will begin on Thanksgiving Day (or sooner). It's going to be an ideal time to buy a PS4 or games and accessories for it, and Best Buy already has a pre-Black Friday sale live through Saturday, November 17. We've combed through full ads from Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and elsewhere to compile all the PS4 deals below. We're still waiting for GameStop's full ad (we've only gotten what looks like a preliminary one), Amazon, and PSN's sale to get a better picture.
Sony itself has announced its Black Friday promotions, and you'll find a lot of what retailers have to offer line up with these deals. When it comes to PS4 consoles, the best option announced so far is from Target, Best Buy, Walmart, and Sam's Club all of which get you a PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB and Spider-Man as a pack-in game for $200 (or $199 in the case of Walmart and Sam's Club). That's a great deal, seeing as the console normally costs around $300 and Spider-Man costs $60. Given it's part of Sony's official lineup of deals, you can expect to find this pretty much everywhere.
In terms of accessories, another doorbuster Target will offer is a PlayStation VR bundle that comes with a camera, Move controllers, Creed: Rise to Glory, and Superhot VR, all for $250; that deal is mirrored at Best Buy. If you want a cheaper route, several stores will have a $200 PSVR bundle. Also, both Target, Best Buy, and Kohl's will have DualShock 4 controllers available for $40, while Walmart beats them at $39. Again $200 for PSVR and $40 for controllers are among Sony's official Black Friday deals, so expect to see those from a lot of stores.
On the games side of the equation, there's plenty to save money on. The recent release Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will drop to $40 at Walmart. Another recent one, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, will be available for $30. Both Detroit: Become Human and God of War will be available for $25 each, as will Far Cry 5. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is at its cheapest (so far) at Best Buy, where it'll be $30.
We've gathered all of the PlayStation 4 deals announced so far into one place so you can get the best deal on whatever it is you're looking for. We'll keep this article updated as more retailers announce their Black Friday plans, so check back later; for now, the big ads we've gotten are from Target, Best Buy, and Walmart. Depending on exactly what you're looking for, you'll be going to a different store.
You can find all of the PS4 Black Friday deals below, but you'll have to wait until closer to November 23 to get the discounts.
PlayStation 4 is celebrating its fifth anniversary today, November 15, and to mark the occasion Sony has shared some notable stats and thoughts from some game developers. Those include some new sales data among light-hearted points about popular controllers.
An infographic on the PlayStation Blog tells the story. The PS4 has sold 86.1 million hardware units, along with 777.9 million software units. The system has also received 11 major software updates amid countless smaller "stability updates." The data also shares some popular games, but lists them alphabetically rather than ranking them against each other.
In terms of hardware, the top DualShock color schemes are flat black, blue, red, white, and camo. Finally, the rarest PS4 is the PS4 Pro 500 Million Units Edition, which was limited to just 50,000. Sony also announced a brand-new PS4 bundle, which includes Black Ops 4.
Sony also released a lengthy blog featuring favorite games of top developers from studios like Guerrilla, Insomniac, Sony Bend, and Naughty Dog. Lots of PlayStation 4 exclusives like God of War and Horizon: Zero Dawn were named as standouts from fellow developers, along with a healthy selection of third-party and indies like Red Dead Redemption 2, Bloodborne, and Inside.
Fallout 76 has arrived. Bethesda's new online RPG officially launched for PS4, Xbox One, and PC this week (although its servers had gone live a little early), and to commemorate the event, the publisher has shared a message with fans about the game's development and what's in store for it post-release.
The message, titled "Launch and Beyond," was posted on Bethesda's website and offers a glimpse at some of the post-launch updates Bethesda is currently working on for Fallout 76. "We have an incredible list of updates we've begun work on--from CAMP building improvements, new quests and events, new Vaults opening, character respecing, a faction-based PvP system, and much more," the publisher said.
Bethesda also touched on how challenging it was to create this new type of Fallout experience. "With Fallout 76, we've woven together parts of our past Fallouts, the survival genre, and massive online games, to create something unique," the publisher wrote. "Creating a new style of game has taken the best from not just our own producers, programmers, artists and designers--but great efforts from across the company."
Finally, the publisher extended its thanks to the various studios that lent development assistance on Fallout 76 such as ZeniMax Online, Id Software, and Arkane, as well as to all the fans who participated in the Fallout 76 beta and provided feedback on the game. "With your help we've made the game better each week," Bethesda wrote.
Fallout 76 officially released on November 14. PS4 players were able to claim some free Fallout 76 items ahead of the game's launch, including three avatars and a PS4 theme, although those are no longer available. Fallout 76 released in several different editions, which come with an assortment of digital and physical goodies; you can read more about them in our Fallout 76 pre-order guide.
Video games are on the menu when it comes to Best Buy during Black Friday 2018. The big day--Black Friday is on November 23--is quickly approaching, and thanks to the release of its full ad, we know much of what to expect. In advance of that, Best Buy has a pre-Black Friday sale going on now through Saturday, November 17 that includes some games (such as God of War), albeit not for as cheap as they'll be once the real sale begins.
Once next week's sale begins, there will be a ton of PS4, Xbox One, and Switch games, along with hardware and accessories. Best Buy's console deals are limited in number, but they present a good way to pick up any of the big systems. Many of them are similar to what you'll find at other stores, but it does have what might be the best deal on an Xbox One X. For $430, you get a special-edition Xbox One X that's bundled with November's Battlefield V, plus a second controller.
Those looking for a PS4 can get one bundled with Marvel's Spider-Man, which just released in September, for $200. $200 can also get you an Xbox One S Minecraft bundle. If you're in the market for a Nintendo Switch, you'll get the same offer at places like Target, which is a $300 bundle (the standard price of the system) that includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The bulk of the gaming offers are on specific games. Among the highlights is the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for $45, God of War for $25, and PUBG (Xbox One) for $15. For $30, you can get Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Madden NFL 19, NBA 2K19, or Forza Horizon 4. Switch, which often doesn't get a lot of discounts, has a number of games on sale, including Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze for $40, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle for $20, and Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for $35. 3DS owners can pick up Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for $20 each.
Outside of individual games, Best Buy has deals on a variety of accessories, including a 30% discount on all Astro headsets. But some of the best offers it has are for subscriptions: You can get 12 months of PlayStation Plus for $40 or 12 months of Xbox Game Pass for $70. Considering the latter gets you access to certain games you might be buying on sale (like Forza Horizon 4 and Sea of Thieves), it could be a preferable option.
Best Buy held a pre-Black Friday sale until November 11, but its actual Black Friday offerings will be available beginning on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, at 5 PM local time. (Specific opening times may vary by state.) You'll also be able to shop online at Best Buy's website. Early access will be available beginning on Sunday, November 18 for My Best Buy Elite and Elite Plus members. Standard My Best Buy members get access on Monday, November 19; essentially, you can sign up for free and get access days ahead of time.
My Best Buy members will get a chance to grab additional hot deals in the Black Friday ad before anyone else. Early Access sales are on Sunday, Nov. 18, for Elite Plus and Elite members and on Monday, Nov. 19, and Tuesday, Nov. 20, for all My Best Buy members
Read on for the full list of game deals, and check out our roundup of all Black Friday deals for much more.
Black Friday 2018 is now just a week away, but with some stores starting their deals early, it's technically even closer than that. If you're really eager to start shopping, Ebay has a pre-Black Friday sale where it's undercutting the deals that have been announced, and Best Buy has launched a pre-Black Friday sale running through Saturday, November 17.
Black Friday officially takes place on November 23, but we now have a great sense of what to expect on the deals front. We started out by getting Target's ad early, giving us a look at what will be on sale across games, tech, and entertainment, and that's been followed by several other huge ones, Walmart and Best Buy. Everything from 4K TVs to PS4, Xbox One X, and Nintendo Switch are on sale, not to mention games and movies ranging from Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Star Wars to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Deadpool 2. GameStop has also shared an early version of its ad, though it doesn't appear to be comprehensive just yet.
As always, tracking what's on sale and where can be an overwhelming task, as can determining what the best deals are. We'll be doing our best to help you stay on top of this so you can make the most of Black Friday (and Cyber Monday immediately after that) without having to drown in a sea of circulars and hastily scrawled post-it notes. Below, you'll find our complete coverage of the event; be sure to check back as more ads are revealed in the lead up to the big day.
If you're looking for all things related to PS4, we've collected every deal announced so far for the platform--including consoles, accessories, and games--in one story. Among the highlights is a $200 PS4 bundle that comes with Marvel's Spider-Man at Target.
Those specifically hunting for a PlayStation 4 are in luck, as the console will be on sale in addition to many of its games. We'll be keeping an eye on all the ads as they come out to find out exactly where you should head for a PS4.
Given the popularity of PS4, there have been surprisingly few deals on PS Plus, but there are some--including one that will get you a year-long membership for only $40, which is about as good as PS Plus discounts get.
For a look at all things Xbox One, we've put together a roundup of every announced deal related to the system. That includes deals on consoles, games, and accessories. One of the best offers we've seen so far is a $400 Xbox One X bundle with a whopping $120 in Kohl's Cash from (you guessed it) Kohl's.
Whether you're hunting for an Xbox One S or an Xbox One X, you'll have some options this year. We're keeping track of the best offers on the consoles to help make it easy for you to pick one up.
Say you're not interested in wading through a huge number of deals--there are dozens upon dozens of games on sale--but want some good prices. We've selected what we think are the top deals of interest to those with an Xbox One (or anyone just now picking one up).
Whether you already own an Xbox One or are getting one this year, you may want an Xbox Live Gold subscription--it'll net you free games every month, exclusive discounts, and the ability to play online. Here are all the top deals on a membership.
Nintendo Switch has had a big second year on the market, and whether you're looking for discounted games or some kind of sale involving system itself, you'll have at least a limited number of options to choose from. That includes a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe when buying the console at Target.
Fortunately for those looking to pick up a Nintendo Switch this year, there will be Black Friday deals at a number of retailers. However, many of them appear to be identical and favor a free pack-in game rather than actual discounts on the standard price.
TVs are always one of the hot-ticket items on Black Friday, and 2018 is no exception. We've rounded up all of the discounts so far and will continue to do so as they roll in.
Walmart has a huge ad full of games on sale, along with consoles and accessories. One of its best deals see Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 drop to just $40 despite its relatively recent release.
What's outlined above is a big ad--Walmart has a ton of games on sale. If you'd prefer a more manageable look at it, we've rounded up what stuck out to us as the best gaming deals at the retailer this year.
You'll find not just games on sale at Walmart, but a ton of movies and TV shows, too. Whether you're looking for DVDs or Blu-rays, you're in luck, while 4K fans can find some good films in the sub-$10 range, which is atypical.
If you're more interested in how you obtain and consume your entertainment and games, you might be in the market for a TV, streaming device, or soundbar. If that's the case, Walmart is among the places you'll find a number of cheap options.
GameStop appears to be keeping many of its deals under wraps, but for now, it's at least offered a preview of what it will have discounted on Black Friday.
Best Buy has some sort of sale on each of the main consoles--PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch--but its lineup of deals on individual games is frankly staggering. We've compiled the massive list of everything on sale in one place.
If you'd rather not dig through the enormous list of gaming items that Best Buy has discounted, we've put together a curated list of what we think are the store's top deals.
Alongside all of its games, Best Buy was a hide array of movies and TV shows on sale, spanning DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4Ks. In particular, there are some sweet sales for Marvel and Star Wars fans.
As is to be expected from Best Buy, a huge portion of it is dedicated to all things technology, including TVs. We've rounded up everything you can expect to see this year at the retailer.
Target was the first big store out of the gate to release its Black Friday ad early, and it included a ton of stuff of interest to game fans. You'll find a PS4 with Spider-Man for $200, among other things.
If you're interested in what Target will have to offer on the gaming front without wading through a long list, we've rounded up some recommendations on the best deals it has this year. This covers consoles (with deals on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One) and games for those systems.
Alongside its game offerings, Target's early Black Friday ad gave us a look at its many movies and TV shows that will be on sale, and it includes some great sub-$10 4K movies.
Black Friday is always a great opportunity to pick up a new TV for relatively cheap, and 4K TVs are among the variety of tech items you'll find discounted at Target.
Microsoft's retail outfit always has Black Friday deals that include Xbox One consoles, and this year is no exception. While it hasn't yet revealed offers on individual games, we know Microsoft Store is among your options for getting a $400 Xbox One X.
Kohl's doesn't sell many games, but it oftentimes has some excellent deals come Black Friday. 2018 is no exception, as it might be the best place to buy an Xbox One X.
Kohl's might primarily be a clothes retailer, but it does sell a limited number of electronics, like TVs. These are discounted in addition to netting you some Kohl's Cash.
Although you'll need a membership to take advantage, Sam's Club has some good offers on gaming and tech items, although its game deals are only on PS4 and Xbox One and simply match what we've seen elsewhere.
Below you'll find roundups of all the deals on specific games, but we've also assembled a list of what we think are Black Friday 2018's best deals across PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Black Ops 4 represented a significant shift for the Call of Duty series, dumping a traditional single-player campaign and introducing a battle royale mode, Blackout. It's another game that, despite having only just been released, will be on sale come Black Friday.
Playground Games' terrific open-world driving game, Forza Horizon 4, is among the many games you'll find on sale this Black Friday. While you can play it through Xbox Game Pass, those looking to buy their own copy have numerous options.
God of War has been one of the year's standout games so far. It will be discounted this Black Friday, and thanks to the fact that it came out earlier in the year, the savings are even greater than with some of its fellow triple-A games that launched more recently.
The newest entry in the SoulCalibur series is a good one, and it of course brings with it a guest character--The Witcher's Geralt. Despite having only come out in late October, you'll find it for nearly half price on Black Friday.
The most popular basketball game series returns with another strong entry in 2018. As with all of the year's big annual sports games, NBA 2K19 sees a nice discount on Black Friday.
With more than 100 million copies shipped, it seems like everyone should own a copy of Grand Theft Auto V by now. That's apparently not the case, as it continues to sell extremely well--and if you're among those looking to pick it up, you can do so on the cheap this Black Friday
WWE's annual wrestling sim, WWE 2K19, features a larger roster than ever before. And like so many of the other fall releases, this is one that will be on sale come Black Friday.
Another popular annual sports game is FIFA 19, which comes packed with a variety of different modes, including the wildly popular Ultimate Team. You'll have some extra cash to pump into FUT thanks to these Black Friday deals.
There's never been a better time to jump into Destiny 2 thanks to the release of the Forsaken expansion. Legendary Collection gets you the base game and all DLC released for it to date.
Marvel movies are among the biggest in the industry, and so Black Friday wouldn't be complete without the MCU being discounted. These include recent 4K releases like Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
It's difficult enough to keep track of all the deals, but further complicating matters are the way in which sales are staggered. No longer can you expect to just show up on Friday (or Thursday night) and be early--sales are starting hours or even days before then. We've done our best to compile all of this information in a digestible way.
We should have a firm idea of everything that will be on sale well in advance of Black Friday, but while we wait for all of the ads to come in, we've previewed what to expect from this year's big day. That may help you determine if you should buy something now or wait for a possible deal later this month.
Anybody can walk into a story on Black Friday or browse to a retailer's website, but there are tips and tricks to best approaching it. We've put together a guide to help you make the most of all the big sales.
Blizzard has released a new update for its popular shooter, Overwatch. Patch 1.30 is now available on all platforms--PS4, Xbox One, and PC--and makes a handful of changes to several of the game's maps and characters, along with introducing its newest hero, Ashe.
Unveiled during BlizzCon 2018 earlier this month, Ashe is the the leader of the Deadlock gang and the 29th character to join the Overwatch roster. She arrived on the Public Test Region shortly after her reveal at BlizzCon, but this marks the first time she's available on all platforms. However, at the moment you'll only be able to use her in unranked play; she won't be available in Competitive Play until two weeks after her release.
Ashe is an offensive hero and one of Overwatch's more versatile characters. Her main weapon, The Viper, is a lever-action rifle capable of firing in semi-automatic bursts with a high spread. She can also aim down its sights for precision shots. On top of that, Ashe comes equipped with a Coach Gun, which allows her to deal a lot of damage at a close range and can even send Ashe flying backward if fired at the ground.
Another unique ability at Ashe's disposal is Dynamite. She can throw the explosive onto the battlefield; it will then explode after a short amount of time or immediately if shot. Finally, her Ultimate is BOB, her robotic butler/bodyguard introduced alongside her in the Reunion animated short. When summoned, BOB will charge forward and fire at foes with his arm cannons.
In addition to Ashe, Patch 1.30 makes some general changes to all heroes, as well as a few specific to Mercy, Reaper, Symmetra, and Roadhog. The power of Mercy's ultimate has been increased, while Reaper has been tweaked to make him a more suitable for close-range combat. Roadhog received the biggest set of changes; you can see them all in the patch notes below.
Overwatch November 13 Update Patch Notes
Hero Updates
Mercy
Developer Comments: Mercy's ultimate was charging a bit too slowly after her base healing was reduced in a previous update. These changes should restore some of her ultimate's strength and let it build up more quickly.
Reaper
Developer Comments: Reaper's specialty is fighting at a very close range. The more consistent spread pattern and increase in healing from his passive ability will make him more capable of standing toe-to-toe with his enemies.
Symmetra
Developer Comments: It's still difficult to use Symmetra's Photon Projector beam effectively, even after its range was increased. By speeding up the primary fire charge rate, it takes less time to ramp up to its full damage potential and will be a stronger option when she's presented with targets to charge up on.
Roadhog
Developer Comments: Roadhog is receiving several large changes to make his abilities more consistent. His Chain Hook had issues with breaking when enemy targets jumped or fell behind environment collision. It will now slow them down in the air more when the hook lands, and wait less time before it starts reeling them in. Since Chain Hook's cooldown now begins immediately upon use, so it no longer varies based on Roadhog's distance to the hook target. We've also moved some of the projectiles closer to the center of the spread pattern on his Scrap Gun, which gives him a more consistent damage output for its primary and alternate fire. Previously, there was a long-standing bug that caused close-range targets to fly much further than expected. After this bug was fixed, we still wanted to keep some of the knockback burst it provided, so we've increased the overall velocity cap to maintain some of that functionality.
Map Updates
Reduced the setup timer for Assault, Escort, and Assault/Escort maps from 1 minute to 45 seconds
Assemble Your Team timer increased from 10 to 25 seconds in the second round on Assault, Assault/Escort, and Escort maps

Fixed a bug that prevented Chain Hook from destroying breakable objects when pulling the target backward

Epic Games has released patch 6.30 for Fortnite and, among the many changes, the update removes the ability to re-deploy the Glider in mid-air. This feature was introduce in the 6.20 patch and, at the time, Epic said it was simply testing the feature. In a message posted on the official Fortnite site, the studio confirmed that is disabling the feature in all default modes, starting from when the new patch is installed.
Those who enjoyed the ability to get some extra airtime won't be at a complete loss, however, as larger team modes such as Soaring 50s and Disco Domination will still let you whip out your Glider if you make a leap from at least three stories in the air. It will also remain enabled in Playground, where "ongoing experimentation with this feature" will happen.
When it was first introduced, Epic said it was "testing how providing a singular mobility mechanic that all players can use will affect regular gameplay." Although Glider re-deploy is being removed, that doesn't necessarily mean that the idea is being abandoned entirely. It could be that the ability makes its way back into default modes again in the future.
Fortnite patch 6.30 is out now and introduces a new Limited Time Mode called Food Fight. As part of this, players will also get the opportunity to use the new Mounted Turret, which can be found in Floor Loot, Supply Drops, Vending Machines, and Supply Llamas. The Food Fight is also spilling onto social networks, and users can get involved by pledging their support for either #TeamBurger or #TeamPizza. Within the game players represent either Durr Burger or Pizza Pit.
Last week Epic, in partnership with the NFL, made team jerseys available to purchase. However, NFL team jerseys have now been removed from the in-game store. If you already paid V-Bucks for one, you can continue using it, but new purchases cannot be made. It's unclear whether they will be added back into Fortnite at a later date.
Tomorrow there will be new challenges to complete. If you haven't already, you can catch up with all the mini-quests from previous weeks using our full Fortnite Season 6 challenge guide.
Epic Games has launched a new update, 6.30, for Fortnite on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and mobile. Servers went down to launch this but are now back online, and we've got the full patch notes detailing all the new additions and changes. The big new arrival is a Limited Time Mode called Food Fight, which encourages players to use the new mounted turret to settle the battle of Durr Burger versus Pizza Pit.
"One wall, two entrees, the Food Fight has begun! Build your base, wait for the barrier to drop, and battle it out in this new Limited Time Mode. Claim your preferred team on our social channels. #TeamBurger #TeamPizza," Epic says in its description.
The turret is a Legendary Trap weapon that can be found in Floor Loot, Supply Drops, Vending Machines, and Supply Llamas. Although it has unlimited ammo--and packs quite a punch--players will need to be careful using it as it can overheat if fired for too long. The turret can only be placed on the floor, and can be destroyed by attacking it directly or aiming for its structural support. The floor piece it is placed on is invulnerable. It's also worth keeping in mind that, once placed, anyone can use a turret--including the enemy team.
As previously announced, Epic has ended its glider re-deploy test that began a few weeks ago. Redeploying will only activate your glider, though you will still skydive when exiting the Battle Bus, after traveling through a Rift, or using a Launch Pad. In the latter two cases, skydiving will lead to a glider deploy higher in the air--at 35 meters, rather than 15.5.
Other changes of note include Quadcrashers now being guaranteed spawns and damage numbers being shown on the starting island. Despite this, you can't drop below 1 health, and any damage dealt won't count toward challenges.
For Save The World, meanwhile, Epic has made some tweaks to the user interface and also introduced the Last Word Revolver. Check out the full patch notes for more on what's new and different with Save The World. You can see the Battle Royale details below.

A week after they were introduced, the NFL team jerseys have been removed from Fortnite's in-game store. Those that purchased one using V-Bucks can continue to use it but they are no longer available to purchase. Epic has not yet said whether they will make a return in the future.
Epic has also started selling a Summit Striker starter pack, which comes with a new skin, back bling, and 600 V-Bucks for $5. This pack intended to be a way to give newcomers a taste of customization for relatively cheap and, as such, is limited to one purchase per account.
As with every week, this new patch will be followed by a fresh batch of challenges. If you haven't completed last week's challenges, you can check out the full list of them and use our guide for the trickier of the bunch. We also have a comprehensive guide to every challenge in Fortnite Season 6, so you won't miss out on a single Battle Star.
We've reached the midpoint of November, which means Xbox Live Gold subscribers can now download two new games for free. The games in question are Race the Sun for Xbox One and Dante's Inferno for Xbox 360. As with all Games with Gold, the latter is also playable on Xbox One thanks to backwards compatibility. And if you hurry, you can still grab Assassin's Creed and Victor Vran for free; they'll go back to regular price on November 16.
Race the Sun is an endless flying game in which you pilot a solar-powered aircraft that soars toward the setting sun on the horizon. If the sun goes down, you'll run out of power, ending your run. To keep flying (and accumulating points), you need to avoid the many obstacles in your way and make good use of speed boosts and other upgrades you can collect.
In GameSpot's 8/10 Race the Sun review, Chris Watters wrote, "The smooth sensation of flight through the austere landscape is both relaxing and intense, bringing with it the joy of escaping danger and the agony of meeting with disaster. Objectives and relays capitalize on these core mechanics, building out ways to enjoy the game beyond the basic play experience."
Dante's Inferno is a God of War-like brawler that's inspired by an Italian epic poem. You play as Dante, a Templar knight who battles through nine circles of Hell to rescue his beloved from Lucifer himself. In our 6.5/10 Dante's Inferno review, Tom McShae wrote, "Dante's Inferno is certainly fun during those hectic first few hours, but there is little reason to play beyond those parts. It's not worth visiting hell without the promise of heaven on the other side."
And if you haven't picked it up yet, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can still grab Battlefield 1 for free between now and the end of November. It might whet your appetite for Battlefield V, which launches later this month.
Last year, Niantic, the studio behind Pokemon Go, announced it was working on a new mobile game based on the world of Harry Potter titled Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Since then, the company has shared very few details about the mysterious project, but we've now gotten our first taste of what it will be like thanks to a new teaser trailer.
Co-developed by WB Games, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite uses augmented reality and features similar gameplay mechanics to Pokemon Go. According to the studios, players will have to explore the real-world to "unravel a global mystery, cast spells, and encounter fantastic beasts and iconic characters along the way."
The teaser trailer, which you can watch above, doesn't showcase any actual gameplay footage, but rather dramatizes the experience of playing the game; in it, you can see a girl warping into an alley to catch a snitch. Before disappearing, she casts a spell that leaves a poster on the wall, which warns that "the Wizarding World is at risk of exposure."
Beyond that, however, we still don't know too much about Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. When it first announced the title, Niantic said the game will "pioneer all new technology and gameplay mechanics" and take advantage of its full AR platform. "Players will learn spells, explore their real world neighborhoods and cities to discover and fight legendary beasts, and team up with others to take down powerful enemies," the developer wrote in its announcement.
Niantic and WB haven't announced a release date yet for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The game was originally slated to launch in 2018, but as we learned from the teaser trailer, it has now been pushed back to sometime in 2019.
Wizards Unite isn't the only new game from Niantic. The studio recently launched Ingress Prime, a revamped version of the original Ingress. Niantic also continues to roll out regular updates for Pokemon Go; it recently introduced a new Adventure Sync feature, which allows the game to track the distance you've walked, even when it is idle.
Sony has announced a new PlayStation 4 bundle that includes Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Though plenty of PS4 bargains will be awaiting shoppers on store shelves during Black Friday, this one actually goes on sale the following week for those patient enough to wait for their deal.
The bundle includes a 1TB PlayStation 4, DualShock controller, and Black Ops 4, for $300. A 1TB console by itself costs the same, so this essentially throws the game in for free. It will be available in retail stores on November 27.
This isn't the best deal going on a new PlayStation 4. A Black Friday bundle offers the same 1TB system with a copy of Spider-Man for $200. For that price you could add Black Ops 4 at standard price get two games for less than the price of a bundle that includes just one. However, that one is tied to Black Friday and will probably only be available for a limited time, while the Black Ops 4 bundle appears to be more standard.
GameSpot's Black Ops 4 review found the package felt complete even without a single-player campaign. "Sure, there isn't a traditional single-player campaign, but with the depth and breadth of what is there, Black Ops 4 doesn't need it," wrote critic Kallie Plagge.
For more bargains check out our round-ups of all things Black Friday, which includes more deals on PS4 systems and games, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch consoles, and a lot more.
It's been a couple of rough days for fans of the WWE Smackdown Women's Champion, Becky Lynch. After her invasion of Raw on November 12, Lynch busted her nose and is now going through concussion protocol, so she will not be medically cleared to compete at Survivor Series on Sunday, November 18.
The next WWE PPV has the superstars from Raw and Smackdown competing against each other, which is one of the two times during the year you get to see this--with the other being Money in the Bank. All of the champions from both shows will fight each other, and both Raw and Smackdown will have three different traditional Survivor Series elimination matches as well.
The PPV comes to the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, November 18 with the main card starting at 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT and a Kickoff Show most likely starting two hours prior. The schedule for the day of the event is not up, but major WWE events like Summerslam, Royal Rumble, and Wrestlemania tend to have a longer pre-show. You can watch both the Kickoff and main card for yourself on traditional PPV through your TV provider or on the WWE Network.
It's going to be a big evening to determine which show is the dominant brand. As of this writing, there are seven matches on the card with more than a week before the event airs. Of course, we'll see Raw's Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar, take on Smackdown's WWE Champion, AJ Styles. Lesnar recently won the vacated title after a battle with Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel. This is the exact same match fans got at Survivor Series in 2017. Additionally, another former UFC fighter will also be defending her title. Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey takes on Smackdown Women's Champion Becky Lynch.
Below, you'll find the match card for Survivor Series, but keep in mind that many of these matches are not finalized. The traditional 5-on-5 elimination matches are coming together, and below the main match card, we've listed out the competitors booked for each match, so far.

A lot has been happening in Pokemon Go of late. Last week, developer Niantic rolled out the game's Adventure Sync feature, which was followed closely by the latest Community Day. Now another new event is underway for a limited-time, and it gives you a chance to hatch some hard-to-find Pokemon.
From now until November 27, Niantic is holding the Hatchathon event in Pokemon Go. During that time frame, you'll be able to hatch Pokemon with evolved forms that were first introduced in the series' Gen 4 titles--Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum--from 2 km Eggs.
A number of popular Pokemon such as Rhydon, Porygon, Electabuzz, and Magmar all received new evolutions in the Gen 4 Pokemon games, so this event is a good chance to add their base or baby forms to your collection. Moreover, Niantic says you'll have a chance of hatching Shiny Elekid during the event, making this the first time it has been available in Go.
Coinciding with the Hatchaton event, Niantic has also rolled out Gen 4's new Pokemon evolutions. In order to get them, you'll need to stock up on the appropriate Candy and get your hands on a Sinnoh Stone, a new evolutionary item. However, at the moment, it appears the only way to obtain one is by completing enough Field Research tasks and achieving a Research Breakthrough.
In related news, the Pokemon series' next console games, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, launch for Nintendo Switch this week, on November 16. The pair support connectivity with Pokemon Go; you can synch up to the Switch games via Bluetooth and transfer Gen 1 Pokemon to them. Doing so will in return get you the Mystery Box, a strange item used to find the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan. Niantic also shared the first teaser trailer for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, the new Harry Potter AR game it is co-developing with WB Games.
The first wave of Gen 4 Pokemon made their debut in Pokemon Go early last month, and since then, developer Niantic has been gradually introducing more monsters from the Sinnoh region to the mobile game. During Pokemon Go's third annual Halloween event, Niantic added a handful of new Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon, and now a few new Gen 4 evolutions are available.
When it first arrived back in 2007, Gen 4 was notable for introducing a variety of new evolved forms for older Pokemon such as Electabuzz, Magmar, and Rhydon, and now a number of these have been added to Pokemon Go. You're able to obtain Electivire, Magmortar, Rhyperior, Togekiss, Weavile, Porygon-Z, and several other new Pokemon if you have their previous forms and the requisite number of Candies.
You'll also need one more item in order to obtain these evolutions: the Sinnoh Stone. However, getting your hands on one may require a bit of work. At present, it seems the only way to acquire a Sinnoh Stone is through a Research Breakthrough, which is achieved when you complete enough Field Research tasks.
Coinciding with the arrival of the new Gen 4 Pokemon is another in-game event. From now until November 27, Niantic is holding the Hatchathon event, which gives you a chance to hatch Rhyhorn, Magby, Porygon, and other Pokemon that have evolved forms first introduced in the Gen 4 games from 2 km Eggs. On top of that, you'll be able to hatch a Shiny Elekid if you're lucky.
The Pokemon series' next console titles, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, release for Nintendo Switch on November 16. The pair feature connectivity with Pokemon Go; you're able to transfer any Gen 1 Pokemon from the mobile game over to the Switch titles. Doing so will reward you with the Mystery Box, which is the key to catching the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan.
We've got just two weeks left of Season 6 in Fortnite: Battle Royale. The challenges for Week 8 are available now and feature a nice mix of easy-to-do and multi-part challenges for players to complete as they seek a Victory Royale. Three challenges are offered to all players for free, but four others are reserved for Battle Pass owners.
As Season 6 of Fortnite: Battle Royale rolls on, new challenges continue to roll out on all platforms--PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Those feed into the latest Battle Pass, and as with previous seasons, you level that up by playing the game and completing challenges. Every week there will be a new set of tasks for players to complete that unlock Battle Stars and level up the Battle Pass to unlock goodies.
Like in Season 5, weekly challenges are split into two categories. The first is a free set, which are available to all Fortnite players, while the second is for Battle Pass owners. To get a Battle Pass you'll need to cough up 950 V-Bucks in game. If you haven't bought the Battle Pass, you'll be able to complete certain objectives and earn some rewards, but some of the coolest unlocks are locked behind the paid Battle Pass, so if you plan on sinking lots of time into Fortnite, we recommend picking that up.
Although you can pick up a Battle Pass later and go back to unlock any premium rewards you've earned based on the tier that you've already reached, there is one major advantage in doing it at the start of the season. Namely that you'll get bonus XP, which is dished out for just playing the game either alone or with buddies. This XP levels you up and translates to Battle Stars that also level up your pass, so it may be a good idea to get in early if you can.
Alongside the standard challenges, there are also Hunting Party challenges for those who buy the Battle Pass. These operate similarly to the Blockbuster and Road Trip objectives of past seasons, where each one tasks you with completing all challenges from a single week during the season. The reward for each is a loading screen that reveals the location of a hidden Battle Pass tier you can then obtain. Additionally, by completing seven of these, you'll earn a Legendary skin that will remain a mystery for now.
Each week we'll have guides on the trickiest challenges to make things quicker and easier for you. However, this article will serve as a hub for all our guides so, as the season goes on, you'll be able to keep coming back here to get the latest guides as well as ones for previous weeks. This will be especially helpful if you decided to pick up a Battle Pass part of the way into the season. If you're wondering if it's worth the effort, you can take a look at all of Fortnite Season 6's new skins, cosmetics, emotes, sprays, and other items to unlock in this gallery of Fortnite Season 6 Battle Pass rewards.

Challenges for Week 8 of Fortnite Season 6 are now available. You can see a full breakdown of them here, and you'll probably notice that one of them looks like it's going to require way more time and effort than the rest. This challenge asks players to find a fish trophy in seven different named locations on the island and dance in front of them.
If you've been paying very close attention to the environments in your time with Fortnite, you may have a good idea of where these fish trophies are. But if you haven't, fear not, because we've put together a list of their specific locations below. It's important to note that the "named locations" part is very important, as there are some fish trophies that aren't in named locations, and dancing in front of them won't contribute to completing the challenge.
You can take a look at the locations of the fish trophies below and also watch us complete the challenge in the video above.
Fortnite Fish Trophy Locations
Retail Row: In front of the store
Dusty Diner: Second floor office
Wailing Woods: Inside the bunker
Lonely Lodge: Inside the lodge
Junk Junction: The first floor of the main building
Fatal Fields: Above the fireplace in the main house
Risky Reels: Building at the north side
There are just two weeks left in the rest of Season 6, so if you're planning on getting everything, the clock is ticking. To make catching up a bit easier, you can use our complete Season 6 challenge guide, which will walk you through each week and has detailed information on how to complete the trickier of the challenges.
If you're all up to date, Fortnite has a new limited-time event for you to play. Introduced as part of Fortnite patch 6.30, Food Fight is a team-based event that asks players to pledge their loyalty to one of the two in-game fast food outlets, Durrr Burger and Pizza Pit. Once battle lines are drawn, players must defend their mascot, as the team that manages to destroy their enemy's mascot wins. The patch also throws the Mounted Turret into the mix, which will be handy when defending territory.
Tom Cruise will no longer play the big-screen version of Jack Reacher, as the character is moving to a streaming series with a new actor in the lead. This comes as author Lee Child admits that the fans were correct to criticize Cruise's stature not matching the character.
In the books, Reacher is described as a mountain of a man who makes others feel uncomfortable by his mere presence. He's also over six feet tall, while Tom Cruise is a slighter 5'7". Fans of the books criticized the casting choice, and it appears Child has come around to their point.
"I really enjoyed working with Cruise. He's a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun," Child told the BBC. "But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it's a big component of who he is. The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you're all a little nervous just for that first minute. And Cruise, for all his talent, didn't have that physicality."
Instead, he said they're going to develop a long-form streaming show with a new actor. The platform hasn't been decided, but Child said he was thinking along the lines of "Netflix or something like that." He also mentioned that he wants the readers who were dissatisfied with Cruise to give suggestions on an actor who would fit the part.
The two films, the first called Jack Reacher and the second titled Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, both received middling reviews, though the consensus was more positive for the first movie than for its sequel.
Fortnite's Season 6, Week 8 challenges are now available. If you're a Battle Pass owner, there's a challenge that requires you to get a score of three on three different Clay Pigeon shooters. The difficult part is actually finding these shooters, which is why we've hunted some down and put together a guide that'll have you racking up the points in no time.
Thankfully, there's a whole bunch of Clay Pigeon shooters scattered around the map for you to find, and you only need three of them, so the odds are heavily in your favor. On our brief trek across the island we managed to find a six; you can take a look at the locations below.
Fortnite Clay Pigeon Locations
West of Pleasant Park (Quadrant B4)
Northeast corner of Loot Lake (Quadrant E4)
Northwest of Tomato Town (Quadrant G3)
Between Lonely Lodge and Wailing Woods (Quadrant J4)
Between Shifty Shafts and Flush Factory (Quadrant D8)
South of Paradise Palms (Quadrant I9)
Once you're done with that, you can see the other challenge that await you in our Fortnite Season 6, Week 8 challenge list. With just two weeks left in Season 6, this is also a good time to start finishing up remaining challenges from previous weeks. If you need a hand doing that, we've got a comprehensive Season 6 challenge guide that will make the trickiest challenges a piece of cake.
Epic Games also recently announced that the NFL jersey skins will be re-introduced to Fortnite, having been removed just a week after they originally launched. While there isn't an exact date for when players will be able to spend their V-Bucks to look like their favourite NFL stars, Epic has said it is planning on bringing the NFL jersey skins back sometime before the Super Bowl in February.

We're in the final stretch of Fortnite Season 6, with just two more weeks remaining after this one. That means time is quickly running out for those wanting to get this season's crop of Battle Stars and unlock all the cosmetic rewards by leveling up your Battle Pass. This week's challenges are now available, and we've got the full breakdown on what you'll need to do below.
In the free section, the challenges involve visiting Lonely Lodge and Retail Row in a single match, dancing with a fish trophy at seven different named locations, and getting eliminations with a Six Shooter or Heavy Assault Rifle.
For those with a paid Battle Pass, however, there's an additional set of challenges that are a little harder. The first asks you to get a score of three on three different Clay Pigeon Shooters, use a vehicle to rack up 250,000 trick points, visit four different named locations in a match, and use a grappling hook. That final challenge is the first part of a multi-stage one that will reveal further steps once completed.
Fortnite Season 6, Week 8 Challenges
Free
Stage 1: Visit Lonely Lodge and Retail Row in a single match (2) -- 1 Battle Star
Dance with a fish trophy at different named locations (7) -- 5 Battle Stars
Six Shooter or Heavy Assault Rifle eliminations (2) -- 10 Battle Stars
Battle Pass
Get a score of 3 on different Clay Pigeon Shooters (3) -- 5 Battle Stars
Get trick points in a vehicle (250,000)-- 5 Battle Stars
Visit different named locations in a match (4) -- 10 Battle Stars
Stage 1: Use grappling hook (1) -- 3 Battle Stars
On November 14, developer Epic Games release Fortnite patch 6.30, introducing a new limited-time event called Food Fight. This is a team-based event in which the two in-game restaurants, Durrr Burger and Pizza Pit, battle it out to prove who is superior. To prove their supremacy, teams must aim to destroy their enemy's mascot. Gameplay has a setup phase during which players can fortify their mascot and protect it.
The patch also introduces a new weapon to help do this: the Mounted Turret. This functions pretty much as you'd expect a turret to. Although it's powerful and capable of laying down a hail of bullets, overuse will cause it to overheat, so players will need to be thoughtful about how much they rely on the weapon. Finally, update 6.30 removed the glider re-deploy mechanic from the default modes, though it is still available in a few big team modes and the Playground.
If you weren't able to get the NFL team jerseys before they were removed from Fortnite's in-game store, there's some good news. Epic has confirmed it's bringing the NFL jersey skins back sometime before the Super Bowl in February.
Austrian game publisher THQ Nordic is staying busy. The company announced as part of its latest earnings report that it had 55 games in development at the end of last quarter, 35 of which have not yet been announced. That is a lot of games.
Given THQ Nordic's aggressive acquisition history so far, you might think the company would be slowing down in the future, but that may not be the case. In a statement, THQ Nordic said it "foresees further strategic investments in owned studios and/or publishing deals going forward."
The next major releases from THQ Nordic are Darksiders 3 (November 2018) and Metro Exodus (February 2019).
EA and DICE have issued patch notes for a day-one update to Battlefield V. It's out already for players who have gained early access through EA's subscription services or a special edition, and it's targeted mainly at a handful of stability issues and bugs.
The change log details the fixes. It fixes an issue in which team sizes could be very uneven, makes improvements to matchmaking to reduce disconnects, and addresses an error that would make the revive functionality stop working, among many others. In particular, a few distinct Airborne issues have been addressed by this patch, along with one in War Stories that would prevent you from collecting Letters.
The patch has a couple of platform-specific notes too. On Xbox One the patch improves how it resumes when you use the Instant-On function, while on PC it enables RTX ray tracing if your graphic card supports it. The studio also encourages feedback, which you can give through its forums or the Answers HQ.
Battlefield V reviews have started to roll out in advance of its release next week. GameSpot's own early impressions suggest there's a lot more to explore before the final verdict, but it's off to a good start.
"As of now, it feels as if Battlefield V is a variation on a well-established theme. It maintains the series tradition of grand spectacle with incredible sound design, impactful weaponry, and large-scale multiplayer chaos," wrote Michael Higham. "There's a lot more to dig into, like the fortification system, squad reinforcements perks, and how destruction may change map dynamics, and spending more time with the game will paint a better picture. At the end of the day, it's still Battlefield, and Battlefield V is shaping up to be a good one at that."
Change List
Fixed an issue that could result in a very uneven number of players at the start of a round.
Made improvements to matchmaking with a full squad which should result in less disconnects.
In some cases, the revive functionality would suddenly stop to function for all of the players on a server. This has now been fixed.
Further improvements to game client stability have been made.
In the Airborne game mode, spawn protection has been added when attackers spawn into planes. The planes are no longer as vulnerable to AA fire as they used to be at longer distances.
Fixed an issue in Airborne where the bomb carriers could finish arming the objective even though they were dead.
Players can no longer shoot down airplanes too quickly in Airborne, which could result in the attackers not being able to spawn.
In War Stories, players are no longer able to collect Letters while playing offline due to them not being able to update the persistence counters, which requires an online connection.
Fixed an issue where a weapon would disappear on the weapon selection screen.
Fixed an issue in Frontlines mode on Devastation where the bomb in some rare cases spawned inside a wall.
Fixed an issue which made the menus unusable when cancelling a matchmaking session.
Fixed an issue with the lens sight alignment on the MP34 weapon.
Xbox One Only
Improved how the game resumes when using the Xbox One Instant-On function.
PC Only
RTX ray tracing can now be enabled with graphics cards that support this function.
Battlefield V is now going live for subscribers to EA or Origin Access, after a long wait punctuated by a last-minute delay. This one takes the series back to the iconic setting of World War 2, but does a return to the Greatest Generation make for a great game?
While reviews are starting to roll in, some sites are publishing early impressions or reviews-in-progress, including GameSpot. And in a year when Battlefield's major competitor, Call of Duty, has eschewed a single-player campaign, the presence of one in Battlefield V seems to be standing out. The consensus agrees that the package as shipped already has a lot to explore thanks to the campaign and multiplayer, even knowing more is on the way. Its battle royale mode Firestorm is coming next year, and DICE has built a reputation for long-term support.
GameSpot's Battlefield V early impressions found it maintained the scale we've come to expect from a Battlefield game. "There's a lot more to dig into, like the fortification system, squad reinforcements perks, and how destruction may change map dynamics, and spending more time with the game will paint a better picture," wrote critic Michael Higham. "At the end of the day, it's still Battlefield, and Battlefield V is shaping up to be a good one at that."

"As of now, it feels as if Battlefield V is a variation on a well-established theme. It maintains the series tradition of grand spectacle with incredible sound design, impactful weaponry, and large-scale multiplayer chaos." -- Michael Higham [Full review]
Gaming Trend -- 9/10
"After spending quite a while with the game, I'm blown away that there's still so much to discover. With dozens of collectibles to find in the single player campaign, a seemingly-unlimited number of weekly challenges, and the Tides of War looming large on the horizon, Battlefield V is the best this series has ever been, and easily the best FPS of the season." -- Ron Burke [Full review]
PC Games N -- 9/10
"Battlefield V delivers the series' finest single-player campaign yet, painting the horror of war from rarely seen perspectives. That tension carries through to the multiplayer, which has been tuned to hammer home your vulnerability in a firefight." -- James McMahon [Full review]
CG Magazine -- 8/10
"Despite the bad press at the start, I have a lot of faith in DICE as a developer and they have delivered a fantastic shooter this year with Battlefield V after listening to their community and taking their feedback seriously." -- Cole Watson [Full review]
Digital Trends -- 6/10
"Battlefield V is a fine World War II shooter and it has the potential to turn into a great one with a few updates and the addition of its post-launch modes, but with Black Ops 4 providing such a rich and engaging competitive experience and last year's Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus offering a better (and more upfront) Nazi-shooting campaign, there's little reason for this game to be your first choice. That's partially a testament to the strength of its competition, but Battlefield V fails to impress the same way Battlefield 1 did. By all means, give it a try if you're a fan of DICE's previous work, but know that you'll have to put up with some pretty glaring faults." -- Gabe Gurwin [Full review]
The Mandalorian may have found its star. Pedro Pascal is reportedly set to head up the original Star Wars TV series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Mandalorian is preparing to launch on Disney's upcoming subscription-based streaming service, Disney+, next year.
Pascal is best known for his run on Game of Thrones as Oberyn Martell. He also starred in Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Netflix's Narcos.
Disney confirmed The Mandalorian with its first official image and some very high-profile names set to direct individual episodes. Those include Taika Waititi (Thor Ragnarok), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), and Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones). It will join another planned series that will bring back Diego Luna to reprise his role as Cassian Andor from Rogue One.
The Mandalorian takes place after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi but before the new episodic films. It's said to follow a lone gunfighter outrunning the law of the New Republic, after the legendary Mandalorians Jango and Boba Fett's time has passed.
A film spin-off featuring the fan favorite character Boba Fett was said to be in the planning stages at Lucasfilm, but Solo: A Star Wars Story was a commercial disappointment and appears to have led the studio to reevaluate its plans. Disney head Bob Iger suggested that the sequels may have come "too much, too fast" and a shortly after reports circulated that the Boba Fett movie was officially put on hold. The Mandalorian still lets the studio tap one of its more iconic character designs, though.
