One of the first things you do in Red Dead Online, the multiplayer mode for Red Dead Redemption 2, is create a character and snap a mugshot when you're finished.
You might think it's odd that your character displays their hands so prominently in the mugshot, but that is in fact rooted in history. It was a common in the late 1800s to take photographs, or mugshots, of criminals with their hands in front of their bodies so authorities could easily identify distinguishing features such as cuts, tattoos, and other elements, according to Mashable. Police also had criminals pose next to a mirror so that their full face and profile are captured in the same image. Red Dead Online does this, too, in a further bid toward historical accuracy.
You can watch GameSpot's character-creation video in the embed above to see all of this.
Red Dead Online is available now for Ultimate Edition owners, and it'll launch November 28 for people who played Red Dead Redemption 2 on launch day (October 26). Those who played the game October 27-29 will get in on November 29, while everyone can start playing Red Dead Online on November 30. The online mode is available as part of a beta, so you can and should expect a number of issues to flare up during the early play period.
Red Dead Online also features a battle royale mode called Make It Count, while microtransactions in the game come in the form of gold bars (which you can't buy yet). Keep checking back with GameSpot for lots more on Red Dead Online in the days and weeks to come.
Bungie unveiled a bunch of information about its next Destiny 2 expansion, The Black Armory, and Season 5 this week, which has brought new Exotic items to Eververse. Along with the details about new activities and a new Raid comes a look at four new Exotic weapons to chase.
Those four Exotics are Anarchy, Le Monarch, Izanagi's Burden, and Jotun, detailed in Bungie's Black Armory vidoc (watch it above). Three of the Exotics are modeled after the three different Golden Age families--French, Japanese, and Norse--at the heart of the story of the Black Armory, who each worked to become the greatest weaponsmiths of all time. The last Exotic, Anarchy, takes its design from the Fallen. We also know about a fifth Exotic, which Bungie says will be a returning weapon from Destiny 1.
Anarchy, the first Exotic, is a Fallen-styled grenade launcher. Its big cool perk is Arc Traps, which turn its grenades into proximity mines that stick to surfaces. It sounds like the gun will live up to its name by creating ridiculous chaos, especially in Crucible Control matches.
Le Monarch is an Exotic bow in the style of the French family. It takes a page from the Destiny 1 gun Thorn: its perk, Pestilence Arrows, create a cloud that damages enemies around whoever you're shooting at.
From the Japanese family comes Izanagi's Burden, a sniper rifle that also looks kind of like a sword. Its perk is Honed Edge, which allows you to hold down the reload button to slam the entire four-round magazine into one shot. According to Bungie, the resulting blast is so powerful it can take down an enemy in a single body shot--which will make this a powerful option for the Crucible, and a weapon that can stand up to favorites Sleeper Simulant and Whisper of the Worm.
The last Exotic, Jotun, is shown in Bungie's vidoc. It's a fusion rifle players wear on their hands (the developers call it the "arm blaster"), and fires a large flaming slug that explodes on impact. It also tracks enemies, which will make it deadly in the Crucible.
As far as the last Exotic, we don't know which Destiny 1 gun it'll be, but Bungie might have dropped a few clues in the vidoc and with its long-term schedule for Destiny 2's Year 2 content. In the vidoc, when the final Exotic gets mentioned, footage from the strike The Corrupted is shown. It's the version of the strike that players run through when they're working on the quest for the Exotic Malfeasance, during which they're sent by the Drifter to find the grave of a Guardian named Callum Sol.
Speculation is that the Drifter is closely related to Dredgen Yor, a figure from Destiny lore who supposedly created Thorn, an Exotic hand cannon from Destiny 1. Yor famously became corrupted, and was eventually hunted down and defeated in a duel by Shin Malphur with another Exotic hand cannon, Last Word. We know from Bungie's content roadmap in Season 5 that an Exotic quest is coming on January 29. That quest's name: The Draw. Given those clues, it seems we could be seeing either Thorn or Last Word popping up in Destiny 2 come January. From a story perspective, that'd make sense, since Season 6 is all about the Drifter.
Unfortunately we'll have to wait and see what Exotic finally does pop up in The Black Armory, and how player will go about getting the four Bungie has detailed. Destiny 2's next expansion drops on December 4.
Since the release of Destiny 2's Forsaken DLC in September, Bungie has done a better job than in the past of addressing complaints about content droughts. The weekly reset has routinely brought new content over the past few months, and it appears that the start of the new season and launch of the Black Armory DLC will see that continue in the coming weeks and beyond.
Alongside the newly released vidoc (watch it above) and a new update, Bungie has detailed much of the new content that's on the way. The Black Armory is the first piece of the Annual Pass, a set of paid expansions and content that will launch between now and August 2019. Season 5--Season of the Forge--officially begins today, November 27, with a bunch of new Exotics and items available now. The Black Armory itself launches on December 4, but that will be followed by a gradual rollout of more events and other happenings.
As part of Bungie's attempt to be more transparent about what to expect, it's released both a short-term and long-term calendar of new content. For Annual Pass owners, new Forges (part of the Black Armory DLC) will unlock throughout December, while the new Raid--Scourge of the Past--launches on December 7. A new Exotic quest called The Draw will be available starting on January 29; it's one of several new Exotics you can collect.
In terms of what all Destiny 2 players can access, The Dawning, the annual Christmas/holiday-themed event, begins on December 11. That's followed by another event, the Valentine's Day-themed Crimson Days, on February 5.
The long-term calendar highlights some other notable additions to come through August--and there's a ton to take in. This includes a "new Gambit experience," additional max Power level increases, Xur bounties, a new six-player matchmade activity, another new Raid, and more. While the schedule could still change, it seems clear that Destiny 2 players will have a lot to keep them busy in the year to come.
While Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are heavily inspired by Pokemon Yellow, the pair diverge from the classic Game Boy title in some dramatic ways. Rather than starring Red and Blue, the protagonist and rival of the original game, the pair cast players in the role of a brand-new trainer who is setting off on a journey to become a Pokemon Master alongside a new rival character.
But while Red and Blue no longer share the spotlight in Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, they do play a role in the games. As we learned from a recent trailer, both classic characters appear at some point during the adventure--as does Green, the female trainer who was seen standing alongside the other two characters in the original artwork for Pokemon Red and Blue.
All three trainers can be battled at different points in Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, but as in previous games, Red is the most difficult to find and defeat of the three. While Blue and Green will challenge you to a match when you've made it to a certain part of the story, you'll need to fulfill a few conditions before you're able to take on Red. Some mild spoilers follow below.
If you're hoping to test your battle prowess against the iconic Pokemon trainer, you'll first need to complete the main story by defeating the Elite Four. Once you've taken the mantle of Pokemon League Champion, a new slew of characters known as Master Trainers will begin appearing around the Kanto region. Each Master Trainer specializes in one particular Pokemon, and you'll need to use that same Pokemon to defeat them in a one-on-one battle. True to their name, however, Master Trainers pose a significant challenge; the Pokemon they specialize in has high stats and knows attacks that give it an advantage over you.
In order to battle Red, you'll first need to defeat any six Master Trainers in Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee. Once you've accomplished that feat, Red will appear outside of the Pokemon League in the Indigo Plateau, where you can talk to him to initiate the battle. He has a diverse team that consists of Pikachu, Snorlax, Arcanine, Lapras, Machamp, and Mega Venusaur, all of which are level 85, so you'll need to bring a powerful team of your own to stand a chance.
After defeating Red, you'll earn the title of Battle Master, which you can display to other players in-game when challenging them to Link Battles. Red will then leave the area, but you'll be able to re-battle him in the same spot by defeating the Elite Four again.
Devil May Cry 5 is heading to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 8, 2019. December is almost here, which means PlayStation Plus members will soon get a new batch of PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games they can download for free. Sony has just announced the PS Plus lineup for December, and it's a good one. Let's take a look at what games you'll be able to grab for free between December 4 and January 1.
For one, PS4 owners will be able to pick up Soma, a sci-fi horror game set in a research facility at the bottom of the ocean. But unlike many creepy games that mainly offer jump scares, this one actually has something to say. In our 9/10 Soma review, Richard Wakeling called Soma "an intelligent game that forced me to think and contemplate ideas as only the best sci-fi is capable of doing."
Also free on PS4 is Onrush, an online team racing game that has a lot more going on than just rushing to the finish line. Using influences ranging from Burnout's takedown mechanic to Overwatch's hero abilities, "Onrush is such a bold, refreshing twist on the genre," according to our 9/10 review.
Meanwhile, PS3 owners will be able to pick up the space shooter Steredenn and the mind-bending visual novel SteinsGate. The free PS Vita games for December are the Metroidvania-inspired Iconoclasts (also playable on PS4), and the indie gem Papers, Please.
If you hurry, you can still grab November's PS Plus games, which include Yakuza Kiwami and Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition on PS4, Jackbox Party Pack 2 and Arkedo Series on PS3, and Burly Men at Sea and Roundabout on PS Vita.
As always, you'll have access to the games you add to your account as long as you have a current PS Plus subscription.
The Bearded Ladies Consulting, developer of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden, has revealed Farrow, a new fox character for the upcoming X-COM-inspired tactical game. Mutant Year Zero is set for release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on December 4, so the new character comes as a last-minute surprise.
Farrow is described as an assassin who specializes in stealth tactics, equipped with gear and skills that give her the ability to move quickly yet silently through a battlezone. She will fight alongside the two previously known characters, the iconic duck, Dux, and the grizzly looking boar, Bormin. Farrow's skillset will compliment Bormin's explosive launcher and tank-like defense, as well as Dux's preference for long-ranged sniper attacks.
The Bearded Ladies dev team is made up of former Hitman and Payday developers, and Mutant Year Zero is based on a popular pen and paper RPG from Sweden, simply titled 'Mutant'. In addition to releasing on Xbox One, the game will also arrive on PC and on PlayStation 4 early next month.
BioShock creator Ken Levine has been relatively quiet since the release of BioShock Infinite in 2013, but he's still at work on new video game projects. In fact, his latest one is already playable, but he's only rolling it out among a very select few participants.
In a tweet, Levine told a fan, "We've done some friends and family testing but that's all at this stage." Friends and family tests are usually conducted relatively early in development. It does mean the game exists in some form of playable state, however.
Levine hasn't talked much about the direction for his next project. He gave a talk at GDC 2014 about a concept he dubbed "Narrative Legos." The idea involves distinct storytelling pieces that can be reassembled to make new combinations and in different orders, making a story-driven game that can be replayed endlessly.
He said in an interview in 2016 that he stopped leading BioShock games due to adverse effects on his health and relationships. He said at the time he's more interested in smaller, experimental games--possibly like the Narrative Legos concept he outlined. Levine still heads up the studio formerly known as Irrational Games, now Ghost Story Games, though it has scaled down significantly since making the BioShock series.
BioShock and BioShock Infinite were both critically acclaimed. "BioShock Infinite isn't afraid to magnify the way religious and racial extremism inform our culture and change lives," critic Kevin VanOrd wrote in GameSpot's BioShock Infinite review. "It isn't afraid to depict a less-than-holy trinity diseased by power, deception, and manipulation. As the story circles back on itself, you're left wondering whether redemption cleanses us of our atrocities, or simply invites us to commit greater ones. Once the finale comes, you will want to play again, watching each event and image through the lens of information you can never un-know. BioShock Infinite is more than just a quality game: it's an important one."
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is still weeks away, but Sony already has plans to expand its world. The studio is apparently planning for both a sequel and a female-centered spin-off, with some notable talent attached.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Avatar: The Last Airbender and Voltron's Joaquim Dos Santos has been brought on to direct the sequel, with David Callaham (The Expendables, Wonder Woman 1984) writing. Meanwhile, Lauren Montgomery (Voltron, Batman: Year One) is set to direct another Spider-verse movie starring the female heroes, with Bek Smith (Zoo) writing.
The story of the sequel has not been detailed, but it's expected to follow the upcoming film that uses Miles Morales as its central character. The spin-off is similarly mysterious, but it's reportedly going to focus on Spider-Gwen, aka Ghost Spider. She's one of two female Spiders in the upcoming film--alongside Penny Parker, the manga-inspired pilot of a SP//dr mech suit.
Other potential female Spider-verse characters could include Spider-Woman, Madame Web, Spider-Girl, and Silk. It's unclear which of these, if any, are under consideration.
Into The Spider-Verse brings together interpretations of the character from across the spectrum: Peter Parker as an elder and experienced Spider-Man who takes Miles Morales' newly initiated Spidey under his wing, along with Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Penny Parker, and even Spider-Ham.
The trailers have implied a much wider universe of Spider-people, though, even including an Easter egg from the PS4 game. Similarly, an ongoing Spidergeddon comic event has included all manner of alternative Spider-man interpretations, from Uncle Ben as Spider-Man to Spiders-Man--a swarm of sentient spiders wearing a suit. Wherever Sony takes the sequel, it has plenty of material to work from.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is coming on December 14.
The launch of Destiny 2's next piece of paid DLC, The Black Armory, is still a week away, but in the meantime we've gotten a major update--patch 2.1.0--to kick off Season 5, known as the Season of the Forge. It introduces a wide variety of new items as well as numerous changes and tweaks that are detailed in the full patch notes.
When you first log in with the update installed, you'll likely want to head to Tess at Eververse first. There you'll be able to see the season's new Bright Engram, the Etched Engram, and its contents. This includes some awesome-looking cosmetics and other Exotics items; there's a firey sparrow, new Exotic weapon ornaments, and much more to collect. You can see a handful of these below.
As for the patch notes, a variety of weapons have been tweaked. Prometheus Lens gets a damage buff, while Ace of Spades' Memento Mori perk has been "reduced to five bullets, but can now be refreshed on reload without having to get rid of all the bonus damage bullets." Machine guns get a slight accuracy boost, while submachine guns get slightly increased range.
Crucible sees the return of Mayhem as a 6v6 playlist, and both Lockdown and Showdown are back in a rotating playlist. Shaxx has new voicelines you'll encounter across an assortment of modes. Shaxx also has new items for direct purchase, as well as new seasonal items and a pinnacle weapon quest. Progression-wise, Valor and Glory now work like Gambit ranks, as they are each divided into three sub-ranks. Legend, however, is not divided into subranks, and you don't have to win at Legend rank to increase your Valor.
Gambit sees progression changes of its own, as rewards should "better match Valor and Glory;" ranking up a subdivision will net you a guaranteed piece of Legendary Gambit gear. Gambit bounties reward twice as many Infamy points as before, and they should be easier to complete. The catch-up mechanic has also been adjusted so that the team in the lead has a better chance of holding onto that lead.

One of the first images on the screen at the start of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is an "Approved By The Comics Code Authority" stamp, trailing right behind a glitched out slideshow of different studio logos. It's a nod that comics history buffs will no doubt appreciate, both as a fun Easter egg, and as a perfect tone setting introduction. This is a comic book movie--not a movie based on characters from comic books. It is literally a comic book turned into a movie, and every single piece, from the character designs to the animation itself, has been designed from the ground up to make that possible. The result is visually stunning and completely unique.
Into the Spider-Verse is the story of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), a slightly put-upon but otherwise unassuming teenager in Brooklyn who is struggling under the weight of his parents' lofty expectations. However, during a slightly less-than-legal graffiti excursion with his slightly less-than-reputable Uncle Aaron, Miles' life is turned upside down when he's bitten by a dimension-hopping radioactive spider. Dimension-hopping becomes a recurring theme--it's the basis for the titular "Spider-Verse," an inadvertent convergence of Spider-people from different universes, brought about by a villain's scheme. It's all pretty sci-fi, but never too sci-fi, even for those who are less well versed in comic book science than others--especially not in the same year as Thanos's snap or Ant-Man's exploration of the Quantum Realm.
In fact, Into The Spider-Verse's self awareness of just how over-the-top its own science is makes for some of the most clever gags in the movie. It's brilliantly playful in introducing a supporting cast of various alternate reality Spider-people to the mix, like Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man Noir, a nazi-punching 1930s detective who is animated in perpetual black and white; John Mulaney's Spider-Ham, an anthropomorphic pig animated like a Loony Toon; or Hailee Steinfeld's Gwen Stacy--A.K.A. Spider-Woman--who carves her own path of cool through this film. At one point, Miles points out that Noir's constant rain-slicked, windblown look makes no sense--they're inside--but Noir shrugs and says that "wherever I go, the wind follows." And that's the end of that, even if Miles is practically left looking directly into the camera and contemplating how his life has gone so far off the rails.
The entire movie oozes this same sort of style. It's an explosion of color--part motion comic, part music video, part traditional animation--with a driving, almost frantic energy that carries every scene. There are montages that pluck real life comic covers off the shelves, word balloons splashed on screen to represent internal monologues, benday dots smearing over shadows to convey depth--really, you name it. There seems to have been no limit to the aesthetic experimentation allowed here, and the end result is an animation style that feels completely and totally new. It may take some getting used to for the purists out there, but by the second act even the weirdest visual quirks manage to level themselves out and become totally endearing.
Somehow even more endearing is the relationship between Miles and Peter Parker (Jake Johnson)--not the Peter of Miles' Earth, but one from an alternate dimension who is a little past his prime. Peter becomes Miles' unwilling mentor, which builds into as many laugh-out-loud gags as it does genuinely touching moments. Sure, this Pete may be a decade or so away from the youthful exuberance of someone like, say, Tom Holland, but that doesn't make him any less familiar--in fact, it really only makes him even more relatable for the twenty and thirty something crowd.
That relatability is really Into The Spider-Verse's core, when you get down to it. The premise may be bundled in a sci-fi camp wrapping and served up as a desperately stylish, rapid fire visual extravaganza, but its heart is pretty simple. Anyone, anywhere, has the power to be as heroic and as special as Spider-Man. It doesn't matter if you're an angst ridden teen struggling through high school, a middle aged divorcee down on their luck, or a cartoon pig with no concern for the laws of physics--the ability to do good, the ability to make the world a better place, is universal. It's multiversal, even. It's a constant.
It may seem a bit saccharine, typed out in so many words, but it's a message that superhero comics--that Spider-Man comics specifically--have been touting for ages, and something that's been long overdue for a big screen debut. It probably wouldn't work if Into The Spider-Verse weren't just so funny, self aware, and bleeding-edge modern--but it is, and it does. It manages to blow right past the dangers of sinking into after school special territory by believing wholeheartedly in its own message and delivering it with appropriately genuine stakes. The end result is an instant animated classic, and, with any luck, the first of many of its kind.
The Good
The Bad
Incredible, unique animation and style
Johnson and Moore's hilarious chemistry
A great message
Almost too many easter eggs for comics fans to count
A new Red Dead Redemption 2 update is now available and introduces Red Dead Online to the game. The mode is officially live and has expanded to include not just those with the Ultimate edition, but also those who played Red Dead 2 on its launch day, October 26 (according to Rockstar's internal data). More players are being added over the course of the week; you can check out the exact schedule below.
Rockstar has finally revealed when Red Dead Redemption 2's online multiplayer mode will launch: it will initially debut tomorrow, November 27. But in order to prevent Red Dead Online's servers from collapsing due to high demand, Rockstar will have a gradual rollout that starts exclusively with owners of the game's Ultimate edition (which, as luck would have it, is still on sale for Cyber Monday).
When you're able to play the beta depends on the version of the game you have or when you actually started playing the game. The first group of people that will be able to play the game are those that purchased the Ultimate Edition. Anyone who has that version will be able to jump into the beta from November 27 at 8:30 AM ET / 5:30 AM PST / 1:30 PM GMT / 12:30 AM AEDT (November 28).
The next group of people to be given access is anyone who played the game on October 26 (that's Red Dead Redemption 2's launch day). If you're one of those people, you can head online on Wednesday, November 28. If you played the game between October 26 and October 29--according to Rockstar's data--you'll be able to join the fun from November 29.
Finally, public access to Red Dead Online will be available to anyone that owns Red Dead Redemption 2 from November 30. This rollout method will help Rockstar "ease into the beta and to mitigate major issues." The studio is being very candid about potential performance issues, saying that the beta is "the first step in what will be a continually expanding and dynamic world."
As such, Rockstar is expecting the "inevitable turbulence of launching any online experience of this size and scale" and it is asking the Red Dead Redemption 2 community to report any issues and share their feedback so that Rockstar can shape the experience with them in mind. You can find out more about Red Dead Online here.
Red Dead Online Start Dates And Times
Tuesday, November 27: All Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition owners from November 27 at 8:30 AM ET / 5:30 AM PST / 1:30 PM GMT / 12:30 AM AEDT (November 28)
Wednesday, November 28: All players who played Red Dead Redemption 2 on October 26th according to Rockstar's data
Thursday, November 29: All players who played Red Dead Redemption 2 between October 26th to October 29th according to our data
Friday, November 30: All players who own Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 earned a 9/10 in GameSpot's review, with Kallie Plagge saying it "is an excellent prequel, but it's also an emotional, thought-provoking story in its own right, and it's a world that is hard to leave when it's done."
"While Red Dead Redemption was mostly focused on John Marston's story, Red Dead 2 is about the entire Van der Linde gang--as a community, as an idea, and as the death rattle of the Wild West. It is about Arthur, too, but as the lens through which you view the gang, his very personal, very messy story supports a larger tale." Searching is a gripping mystery, where almost all of the film take places on the main character--David Kim's--laptop. It's very serious and intense, but if you go back an pay close attention to everything in the film, you'll learn the Earth is about to be invaded by aliens.
A special feature in which writer/director Aneesh Chaganty and writer Sev Ohanian discuss the Easter egg is hidden in the main menu of movie. This completely spoils the end of the movie, but we won't do that here. To find it, you'll have to highlight "Languages," then press up to highlight a folder on the desktop with a question mark on it. That's where this Easter egg special feature is located.
Towards the end of the feature, it's explained that throughout the movie, there's a subplot about an alien invasion on Earth. There is a moment when Kim (John Cho) is on YouTube and there's a video called "Real Footage of alien sighting at Sequoia 5/14/17," which at first, doesn't seem too out of the ordinary because YouTube has plenty of videos like that. However, from there, it gets a bit more weird.
Still early on in the movie, there are news articles from NASA about electromagnetic anomalies, people from NASA are murdered, and the President is going to address it all, including extra-terrestrial life on Earth. So while Kim is trying to find his daughter, the world is on the brink of an alien invasion. However, this secret subplot is never resolved, so it's up to the viewer to guess where it goes. I'm guessing everyone in the movie has been replaced by aliens.
Chaganty and Ohanian only discussed a few of these alien invasion Easter eggs. However, they said there is a reference to this subplot in the background of almost every scene, which will make you want to go back and hunt for them all. The extensive planning needed to pull this off in an already complicated film is outstanding.
Additionally, this special feature goes over around 10 of the Easter eggs within the film, which completely spoil the movie; however, there are around 500 of them scattered everywhere, in every scene, and we only caught a few when the movie first came out. It greatly enhances the rewatchability of the movie, just to see if you can spot any other insane subplots.
Searching is available now both digitally and on DVD and Blu-ray.
Nintendo set sales records over the holiday weekend from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, the company has announced. The Nintendo Switch became the best-selling Nintendo console in US history for those five days, even surpassing the Wii, and the system also had its best-selling week ever in the US. All of these figures are for the US only.
In the announcement, Nintendo also noted that Adobe Analytics showed Switch among the most purchased items online on Thanksgiving day and the best seller for video games during the full Black Friday to Cyber Monday time period. Overall Nintendo sold $250 million worth of products during the holiday, according to internal sales figures. That includes Switch, 3DS products, the NES and Super NES Classic systems, and accessories and games.
Nintendo also noted that Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee have reached a combined 1.5 million units since launch. Super Mario Party reached 1 million as well, making it the fastest selling Mario Party game. Total lifetime 3DS sales have reached 22 million, while the Super NES Classic has hit 2.5 million and the NES Classic is at 2 million.
Some of these records may be due to increased shopping time, as more stores are choosing to open for select hours on Thanksgiving day. That gives shoppers a head-start on Black Friday deals. The Nintendo Switch also had an appealing bundle option this year, packaging Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in with the system at no extra charge. Some retailers piggybacked on that bundle with extras of their own. The 3DS also got its own holiday bundle, packaging a specially colored 2DS with Super Mario Maker for $80.
Heads up, action fans. Mission: Impossible - Fallout is gearing up for home release. It's already launched on digital services, but the 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD versions are set to hit stores on December 4. But you don't have to wait until then to secure a copy; you can pre-order Mission: Impossible - Fallout right now.
Fallout is the sixth film in the long-running action franchise. It stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, along with a murderer's row of well-known faces, including Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Fergusson, and more. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, MI: Fallout is another globe-trotting adventure that's filled to the brim with surprising plot twists and downright insane action set pieces. You can read our Mission: Impossible - Fallout review for our thoughts on the film.
But if you're ready to bring home a copy of the movie, you might be wondering where to buy it, what kind of bonus features it will have, and how much it costs. We have you covered on all accounts below.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout Digital Edition
Mission Impossible: Fallout has already landed on digital storefronts, so you can download and watch it right now. The pricing is the same everywhere: $15 for SD, $20 for HD, and $25 for 4K.
If you want an instant collection of all six Mission: Impossible films, this is an easy (and cheap) way to do it. It comes in either 4K UHD or Blu-ray format, and even includes digital copies.
If you only want the new installment, you won't find a better-looking version than this one. In addition to a 4K UHD disc, it also comes with a Blu-ray, as well as a digital copy.
The most affordable way to get your hands on the film is by purchasing it on DVD. It doesn't come with any extras or bonus features, but getting a copy of the movie itself is the main point, right?
The Super Smash Bros. series has always excelled in a party setting thanks to its frenetic action and easy-to-learn mechanics, but the franchise has generally struggled to offer an equally compelling single-player experience. While each installment has featured a variety of modes tailored to solo players--the most robust being Super Smash Bros. Brawl's Subspace Emissary, a full-fledge crossover adventure--none of these have had the same lasting appeal as its standard Smash mode. The series' latest entry, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Switch, introduces a few new single-player options of its own in the form of the Spirit Board and World of Light mode, and from what we've seen of them thus far, they look to be just what the series needed to elevate its solo experience.
We had the opportunity to try both of the new solo modes during a recent hands-on demo of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Much like Subspace Emissary, World of Light is an expansive single-player adventure that unites the game's motley cast against a powerful, supernatural entity known as Galeem. As we saw during the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, the story begins when Galeem unleashes a barrage of light that reduces every character on the roster--with the exception of Kirby--to Spirits, beings who have lost their corporeal form. As the sole survivor of the onslaught, it falls to the intrepid puffball to rescue the other fighters and put a stop to Galeem's machinations.
Despite its initial similarities to Subspace Emissary, World of Light differs from it in some notable ways. While the campaign does feature some cutscenes, Nintendo says it isn't quite as story driven as Brawl's adventure mode. Instead, World of Light compensates for its lighter narrative with a sprawling world map, which features branching pathways and dozens of battles to take part in. As you work your way through these bouts, you'll gradually rescue other characters, who you'll then be able to freely switch between as you head toward the final confrontation with Galeem.
Each opponent you face off against in World of Light comes equipped with Spirits, collectible characters drawn from an array of different video games. Much like the different pieces of equipment you could acquire in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, Spirits are used to augment your fighter's stats and abilities. They come in two varieties. The first, Primary Spirits, confer a stat boost to your character. Depending on their class level, they also typically boast one to three slots that can be outfitted with Support Spirits, which further imbue your fighter with different abilities and attributes. For instance, equipping Fire Emblem Awakening's Lon'qu as a Support Spirit will give your character a Killing Edge sword at the start of a match, while the Wind Fish from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening increases the power of your special moves.
Furthermore, Primary Spirits fall under one of three different categories: Attack, Grab, or Shield. Much like the elemental types in Pokemon, these coexist in a rock-paper-scissors-style triangle, each one offering an advantage over another. As a result, the battles in World of Light introduce a new layer of strategy to the series, as you'll need to carefully consider which Spirits to equip to your fighter in order to counteract the different battle conditions imposed by your opponent's Spirits. Defeating foes will in turn reward you with their Spirits and other in-game currency, which you'll then be able to use to level them up and even unlock additional attributes for your fighters on a skill tree.
Complementing World of Light is the aforementioned Spirit Board, another mode in which you can unlock the titular collectibles. True to its name, the Spirit Board is laid out much like a quest board; you'll be able to select the picture of a Spirit you'd like to challenge and compete against an appropriately themed character who is equipped with it, just as you would in World of Light (albeit without the adventure game trappings found in that mode). The difficulty of these bouts is determined by the rarity of the Spirit you are facing, and they can get surprisingly challenging if you're battling an Ace or Legendary Spirit. Fortunately, even if you don't succeed the first time around, you'll be able to challenge the Spirit again after a set amount of time.
Thanks to the introduction of Spirits, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's new single-player modes are shaping up to be the deepest in the series yet. The game launches for Nintendo Switch on December 7. On top of the new modes, it boasts the largest roster in the franchise to date, with 11 new characters set to debut in the game (plus five as-yet-unannounced fighters slated to arrive throughout 2019 as DLC). You can take a look at some of the new fighters in action here. For even more on the title, check out our roundup of everything we know about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Since it first arrived on Nintendo 64 back in 1999, the Super Smash Bros. series has become a veritable who's who of some of gaming's most beloved characters. While the franchise initially served as a showcase for Nintendo's vast pantheon of first-party mascots, the roster has since grown to encompass other gaming icons such as Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, and many more. That tradition continues with the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Switch, which features the largest and most diverse selection of fighters in the series to date.
On top of every playable character to have ever appeared in a Super Smash Bros. game, Ultimate introduces 11 new fighters to the base roster, with an additional six set to arrive as DLC in the months following its release. Inkling and Ridley were the first two newcomers announced for the game, showcased during Nintendo's big E3 2018 presentation, and since then the company has gradually unveiled all the remaining new fighters debuting in Ultimate, from the oft-requested King K. Rool to complete surprises like Animal Crossing's Isabelle and Castlevania's Simon and Richter Belmont.
We recently had an opportunity to go hands-on with a "near final" build of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Naturally, the first thing we did was try out the game's newcomers. In the video above, you can watch us play a handful of standard four-player Smash matches with nearly all of Ultimate's newly announced characters. While Echo Fighters like Ken and Dark Samus naturally bear many similarities to the characters they're based on, the other new additions to the roster all feel pleasantly unique. Simon Belmont and his own Echo Fighter, Richter, in particular stand out among the crowd thanks to their versatile Vampire Killer whip, which has a long reach and can even deflect projectiles.
Likewise, Isabelle, despite boasting some similarities to her fellow Animal Crossing representative, Villager, feels new thanks to her unique moves and characteristics. Like Villager, one of Isabelle's specials involves a Gyroid rocket; however, rather than riding atop hers, as Villager does, Isabelle buries it in the ground, setting a trap that your opponent will activate when they step over it. Her diminutive stature also means her Smash attacks have a shorter reach than most characters, making her one of the trickier fighters to use. Incineroar, too, takes a bit of getting used to; its up special, Cross Chop, doesn't gain much height and launches it back toward the ground diagonally, making it easy to send yourself plummeting off the stage. That said, Incineroar's pro wrestling-inspired moveset is very satisfying to use and doesn't feel like any other character on the roster.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches for Nintendo Switch on December 7. Nintendo will release five as-yet-unannounced DLC characters for the game throughout 2019 as part of the Fighters Pass, plus one additional surprise fighter: Piranha Plant, which you'll receive for free if you register Ultimate on My Nintendo by January 31, 2019. You can read more about the game in our roundup of everything we know about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Batman joins this season of Young Justice, coming to the streaming service DC Universe at the start of 2019, and apparently, he's going skydiving. However, this is for a mission and not for fun. Batman doesn't like fun. The first trailer for Young Justice Outsiders was recently released, and the video has a few surprises.
The second season of Young Justice aired back in March 2013, but Season 3 will still be dealing with the fallout and events of that season, from metahuman trafficking to intergalactic threats to figuring out how to be a hero in the DC Universe without being one of the big superhero names. The trailer for Season 3, which you can see above, doesn't give too much away; however, we do get to see Metamorpho, Batman, and Katana in the video, and Kid Flash is running a mission on a distant planet.
Young Justice: Outsiders comes to the DC Universe streaming service on Friday, January 4. Then, every Friday until January 18, a new episode will be released. On January 25, DC Universe will celebrate the mid-season finale by debuting four new episodes. The second half of this season will hit the service in June 2019.
DC Universe is doubling-down on all its Young Justice content. Aside from the first two seasons being exclusive to the streaming service, DC Universe will release enhanced episodes from Season 1 and 2 starting on December 4, on every Tuesday, through December 25. Every episode from the original series will feature commentary, interviews, and extra information. Additionally, there will be a "Making of" docuseries for Young Justice: Outsiders following voice actor Whitney Moore during the production process. This series starts on Tuesday, January 8.
The DC Universe streaming service has come a long way since its launch back in September. It contains movies, TV series, and comic books featuring the company's characters, but the real selling point is and will be the original series. Titans is well underway, releasing weekly, and while the first episode had a bit of a learning curve, it's quickly become a fantastic comic book TV series with a high production value. In addition, you can rewatch Batman: The Animated Series completely remastered in HD. It's taken a few months, but DC Universe is quickly becoming a must-have streaming service for DC fans.
Pokemon Go developer Niantic has announced the first details on the game's next Community Day, but this one looks to be a little different from previous events. Rather than taking place on a single day, as most Community Days have, the next event runs for an entire weekend and gives players another chance to capture all of the previously featured Pokemon.
The special Community Day weekend kicks off Friday, November 30, at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET and runs until 11 PM PT on December 2 (2 AM ET on December 3). During this time, Pikachu, Eevee, Dratini, Beldum, and all of the other Pokemon that were featured during a previous Community Day will reappear in greater numbers. Likewise, you'll have another opportunity to learn the special event-exclusive moves that were available during past Community Days.
On top of bringing back all of the previous featured Pokemon, Niantic is offering a handful of in-game bonuses during the Community Day weekend. As with a typical event, these will only be available during a three hour window of time, which will vary by region. This time, the bonuses include double the normal amount of XP and Stardust for capturing Pokemon, as well as double Incubator effectiveness. You can see when these will be live in each region below.
Niantic hosted the first Community Day back in January, and since then, the developer has held a new event for the game each month. Unlike other real-world Pokemon Go events, these typically only run for three hours, during which time you can find increased spawns of that month's featured Pokemon. You can also learn a special event-exclusive move if you meet a certain criteria before the event ends. You can check out our guides for all of the previous Community Day events below for more details on how to get these moves.
In addition to the upcoming Community Day, a new Legendary Pokemon is now available in Go. Cresselia, the Legendary Psychic-type introduced in the Gen 4 games Diamond and Pearl, will appear in Raid Battles until December 18. Niantic also recently rolled out a Special Research questline that revolves around the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan.
Pokemon Go Community Day Bonus Schedule
Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India: December 1, 2018, 10 AM - 1 PM UTC
The Americas and Greenland: December 1, 2018, 11 AM - 2 PM PST
Netflix releases tons of new content at the start of every month, and because this week is the start of December, there is plenty of new content for subscribers to watch. We have a breakdown of what's coming to the services and what you should watch.
The most notable movie coming to Netflix this week is the 2004 Edgar Wright zombie satire Shaun of the Dead on December 1. Simon Pegg stars as the titular Shaun, who is trying to win back his ex-girlfriend in the midst of the zombie apocalypse. The movie has a huge cult following, and although it pokes fun at zombie horror, it's also one of the best films in that genre.
The Last Dragon also comes to Netflix on December 1. The 1985 movie follows "Bruce" Leroy Green, a martial artist in New York City, who wants to be come as good as his idol, Bruce Leroy. He wants to become a true martial arts master and obtain "the glow," but standing in his way is the Shogun of Harlem, Sho'nuff, who sees Leroy as an obstacle on his path to also becoming a master. It's a very '80s but very fun movie, and almost everything Sho'nuff says is highly quotable, coming in at the tail end of America's '80s obsession with martial arts.
And although it came out late last week, I highly recommend watching Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Gauntlet, which is essentially the second season of the series on Netflix. The Mac and Me episode is fantastic and makes me wonder why I liked that movie as a kid so much, as it was the worst.
Below, you'll find the full list of what's hitting Netflix for the week of November 25, and make sure to check out the full list for December to find out what's coming in the upcoming weeks.

The first Gen 4 Legendary to debut in Pokemon Go, Giratina, may no longer be available in the game, but another rare Pokemon from the Sinnoh region has now taken its place. Cresselia, a Psychic-type Legendary first introduced in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, has begun appearing in Raid Battles around the world, giving players their first chance to capture one for a limited time.
As usual, in order to catch Cresselia, you'll first need to team up with other players in real life and head to a Gym where a Cresselia Raid is taking place. Once there, you'll be able to challenge the Legendary Pokemon to a battle; if you manage to successfully defeat it, you'll earn a handful of Premier Balls and a chance to capture it.
Cresselia will appear as a Raid Battle until December 18, giving you nearly a month to add one to your collection. As mentioned above, it is a pure Psychic-type, making it susceptible to Dark, Bug, and Ghost Pokemon. Tyranitar, Scizor, and Giratina are particularly useful, but you'll need to bring along a powerful team to bring Cresselia down thanks to its high HP and defense stats.
Cresselia isn't the only new Gen 4 Pokemon to arrive in Go recently; last week, Niantic introduced a handful of Gen 4 evolutions to the game. Players can now get Electivire, Magmortar, Rhyperior, Porygon-Z, and other evolved Pokemon in Go. To do so, you'll need a new evolutionary item called the Sinnoh Stone, as well as the requisite amount of Candy.
The Gen 4 evolutions arrived alongside the ongoing Hatchathon event. From now until November 27, you'll be able to hatch Pokemon that have evolved forms that were first introduced in the series' Gen 4 titles, such as Rhydon, Porygon, and Magby, from 2 km Eggs. You also have a chance of hatching a rare shiny Elekid during the event.
For those who loved the movie Venom, which was a box office smash making over$800 millioninternationally at the box office, you'll be happy to know that the movie is coming out very soon, and the home release is packed with special features. Sadly, this isn't the rated-R release fans have been hoping for.
Venom hits the digital market on December 11 and will get a home release--on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K--on December 18, and both releases will contain a slew of special features giving viewers greater insight into the movie. This includes three deleted scenes, one of which is an extended version of the post-credit sequence revealing a pretty big name Marvel villain.
Also, there is a special feature titled "Symbiote Secrets," which explains the hidden Easter eggs throughout the movie. The rest is pretty standard affair like behind-the-scenes featurettes on the stunts, putting the movie together, designing Venom, and the progression of the film's visual effects.
If you need more Spider-people in your life, there is also a sneak peak at December's Into The Spider-Verse, which is coming to theaters on December 14. Also, there is reportedly already a sequel to Spider-Verse in the works, which will star female heroes from the first movie.
Below you'll find the full list of special features revealed by Sony for the upcoming Venom home release. GameSpot's Mike Rougeau said in his review, "Venom has all the ingredients of a decent superhero movie--10 or 15 years ago. With spotty CGI, poorly drawn characters, tonal inconsistency including forced "edginess" and awkward humor, sidelined female characters, and even cringeworthy licensed musical cues, it feels like a relic from the distant, pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe past."
Venom Special Features:
Venom Mode: When selecting this mode the film will engage informative pop-ups throughout the film to provide insight on the movie's relationship to the comics, and to reveal hidden references that even a seasoned Venom-fan may have missed!

Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are now available on Switch, marking the series' proper debut on Nintendo's hybrid console. While not direct remakes of Pokemon Yellow version, the pair follow its template very closely, featuring the same setting, story beats, and the original 151 Pokemon (plus their Alolan variants, which could be acquired either from certain NPCs or by transferring them over from Pokemon Go).
Despite their many similarities to Yellow, Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee do introduce some new elements to the series--most notably Meltan, a brand-new Mythical Pokemon that hasn't appeared in any previous mainline Pokemon game. Fittingly for a Mythical Pokemon, Meltan can't be acquired through normal means, so we've put together a guide explaining just how you can add it and its evolved form, Melmetal, to your collection.
How To Catch Meltan
The key to getting a Meltan in Let's Go involves connecting the games to Pokemon Go. As previously mentioned, you can link the mobile title to Let's Go via Bluetooth and transfer any Gen 1 Pokemon you've captured there over to the Switch games. The Pokemon you've transferred will then appear in the Go Park, a new facility that replaces the Safari Zone in Fuchsia City. See our full guide to connecting Go and Let's Go for more details.
To begin a transfer, simply speak to the receptionist at the front desk of the Go Park and follow the on-screen prompts. This is a one-way process; any Pokemon you send from Go to Let's Go can't be returned to the mobile game. However, you'll need to complete at least one transfer in order to catch Meltan, as sending a Pokemon to Let's Go will reward you with a special item in Go: the Mystery Box.
The Mystery Box is the key to summoning Meltan in Pokemon Go. Once opened, the Mythical Pokemon will begin appearing in the wild for a limited time, and you'll be able to capture it just as you would any other monster. However, you'll need to act quickly to catch as many as you can; the Mystery Box only remains open for 30 minutes, and you'll need to wait a full seven days before you can activate it again by transferring another Pokemon.
While you can typically only transfer the original 151 Pokemon, Meltan is the sole exception. Once you've managed to catch one in Go, you'll be able to send it over to the Let's Go titles the same way you would any Gen 1 Pokemon. You'll then be able to recapture it in the Go Park to add it to your team.
At the moment, this is the only way to obtain Meltan in either Go or Let's Go. You won't be able to find it in the wild in the Switch games, so if you're hoping to add one to your collection, you'll need to link the two titles together. However, The Pokemon Company has teased that a new Special Research questline revolving around Meltan will be available for Pokemon Go players sometime this winter, suggesting there will be other ways to acquire it in the future.
Meltan is a pure Steel-type Pokemon that stands at eight inches tall, making it one of the smallest monsters in the Pokemon universe. While it may not look particularly intimidating, it does have a notable distinction: Meltan is the first Mythical Pokemon capable of evolving, and it's able to grow into a hulking monster called Melmetal.
How To Evolve Meltan
As before, Pokemon Go is the key to obtaining Melmetal. In order to evolve Meltan, you'll need to feed it enough Candy in Go, just as you would evolve most other Pokemon in the mobile game. These are acquired each time you catch a Meltan or send one to Professor Willow, but be warned: you're going to need to capture a lot of Meltans if you're hoping to get its evolution, as the Mythical Pokemon requires a whopping 400 Candies to evolve.
Given how long it takes to reopen the Mystery Box, amassing enough Candy to evolve Meltan is a daunting prospect. Fortunately, if you've stocked up on Rare Candies, you'll be able to use them to expedite the process. You can also feed Pinap Berries to Meltan during the capture phase, which will increase the number of Candies you receive if you successfully catch it. Once you've evolved Meltan, you can transfer your Melmetal to the Let's Go games and recapture it in the Go Park.
Just as its base form, Melmetal is a pure Steel-type Pokemon. According to the series' lore, it was worshiped in ancient times because of its ability to create metal. It is also capable of learning a brand-new move called Double Iron Bash, a two-hit Steel-type attack that can make the opposing Pokemon flinch.
The Year of Legendary Pokemon may be coming to an end, but The Pokemon Company still has a few more freebies in store for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon players. Last year, it gave away several special Pikachu wearing Ash's hat to commemorate the release of the series' 20th animated film, Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You, and now you'll have another chance to add them to your collection. [Update: The Ash's Pikachu giveaway is scheduled to end in only a few more days, making this your last opportunity to claim the free Pokemon if you haven't yet.]
From November 9-30, The Pokemon Company is distributing five Pikachu via Mystery Gift, each of which is sporting one of the various hats Ash Ketchum has worn throughout the anime series. Additionally, each Pikachu comes at a different level and knows a slightly different moveset that reflects the attacks it used at that point in the series.
While you could only claim one of the Pikachu the last time they were available, you'll be able to download all five this time around. To do so, you'll need to input the appropriate code via the Mystery Gift feature, which can be accessed from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon's main menu. You can find the codes and other details on each Pikachu below.
Once you've selected Mystery Gift, you'll need to choose the option to receive your gift with a code/password in order to get the Pikachu. Connect to the internet when prompted and enter the code of the Pikachu you want, and the Pokemon will download into your game. You'll then need to pick it up from the deliveryman waiting by the desk inside any Pokemon Center.
In addition to Ash's Pikachu, Pokemon fans still have time to claim the last free Legendaries of 2018: Lugia and Ho-Oh. These are being distributed from November 2-25 via a download code, which you can pick up from a participating GameStop store. You can see all the other Pokemon giveaways going on now in our roundup of all the free Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon launched for 3DS back in November, marking the mainline series' swan song on Nintendo's dual-screen handheld. As it did for the original Sun and Moon versions, The Pokemon Company is continuing to support the pair in the months following their release with free items and Pokemon. The company has a lot of giveaways lined up for 2018, which it has dubbed the Year of Legendary Pokemon, though those certainly won't be the only freebies players can expect to find this year.
We've rounded up all of the free distributions currently running for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon below, many of which are also open to Sun and Moon players. We'll be updating this list as more giveaways are announced, so check back often to see what free items and Pokemon you can get. In the meantime, you can learn more about the latest Pokemon games in our rundown of everything new in Pokemon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon. We also break down the differences between Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, if you're still unsure of which version to pick up.
Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Free Gifts
Ash's Pikachu - Ends Nov. 30
From November 9-30, players can get five different version's of Ash's Pikachu for free in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Each Pikachu sports one of the different hats that Ash Ketchum has worn throughout the Pokemon anime and comes with a slightly different moveset that reflects the attacks it knew at that point in the series. All five are up for grabs via Mystery Gift; you can find the codes you need to input for each one here.
Magearna
Unlike most other gift Pokemon, the Mythical Steel/Fairy-type, Magearna, is not available through the Mystery Gift feature, but via a QR code, which is compatible with Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon. After defeating the Elite Four and completing the main story, you can use the QR Scanner to scan the code below. Once you've done that, visit the Antiques shop in Hau'oli City and pick your Magearna up from the deliveryman waiting there.

As before, the Pokemon you receive will depend on which seventh generation title you're playing: Sun and Ultra Sun players will get Regigigas, while those with a copy of Moon or Ultra Moon will receive Heatran.
Unlike the Dialga and Palkia distribution, The Pokemon Company is giving away the download code for Regigigas and Heatran in the March Pokemon Trainer Club newsletter, so you'll need to create a free Trainer Club Account here and opt-in to the newsletter before March 1 in order to get the code.
Entei/Raikou -- DONE
The Johto Legendary dogs Entei and Raikou are April's free gift for Pokemon players. The Pokemon are being distributed in the US via a free download code from participating Target stores, and as before, the Legendary you receive depends on which version you're playing: those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Entei, while Moon and Ultra Moon players will receive Raikou. In Europe, the Legendaries are being distributed as a free online Mystery Gift until April 25.

As usual, the Legendary you receive depends on which version you're playing: Sun and Ultra Sun players will get Yveltal, while Moon and Ultra Moon players will end up with Xerneas.
Shiny Zygarde -- DONE
The Kalos Legendary Zygarde is June's free Pokemon. Regardless of which game you own, you'll get the Order Pokemon, although its moveset will differ depending upon which version you're playing. Tornadus/Thundurus -- DONE
Tornadus and Thundurus from Pokemon Black and White are July's free Legendary Pokemon, and as usual, the one you receive will depend on which version you're playing. The cover monsters of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, Groudon and Kyogre, are the two free Legendaries available in August. In the US, the Pokemon are being distributed via a free download code, which can be picked up at a participating GameStop store from August 3-26. As with previous giveaways, the Legendary you receive depends on which version you own; those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Kyogre, while players who have Moon or Ultra Moon will get Groudon.
Celebi -- DONE
Players who purchase either Pokemon Gold or Silver from the 3DS Eshop by September 21, 2018 will receive a bonus download code for the Mythical Pokemon Celebi. Latios/Latias -- DONE
September's freebies are the twin Eon Pokemon, Latios and Latias. Once again, the Legendaries are being distributed in the US at a specific retailer--this time Best Buy--from September 2-29, and the Pokemon you get depends on which version you own: Sun and Ultra Sun players will receive the more defensive Latias, while Moon and Ultra Moon players will get the more attack-oriented Latios. Players in Europe and Australia can download the Legendaries from the Nintendo Network until September 23.
Shiny Poipole -- DONE
To celebrate the release of Pokemon TCG's new Dragon Majesty expansion, The Pokemon Company is giving away a Shiny Poipole for a limited time. US players will be able to pick up a download code at GameStop stores from September 17 - October 7, while those in the UK can grab one at Smyths until October 15. Unlike a typical Poipole, this one is white and gold, and it already comes with Dragon Pulse, the move it needs to know in order to evolve into Naganadel.
Reshiram/Zekrom -- DONE
Pokemon Black and White's cover monsters, Reshiram and Zekrom, are the free Legendaries up for grabs during the month of October. Players who live in the US will need to pick up a download code from them at the electronics section of participating Target stores from October 19-28, while those in Europe and Australia can download them over the Nintendo Network from October 5-21. Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina -- DONE
Players who have a Pokemon Bank account can receive the final forms of all three Alola starters--Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina--as a free bonus for using the cloud storage service. What sets these three Pokemon apart from the ones you can obtain in-game is that they each come with their Hidden Abilities, which aren't typically available through normal play. You'll receive a notification about the gifts the next time you access Pokemon Bank, and they can be picked up in your game of choice from the deliveryman waiting in any Pokemon Center.
Zeraora -- DONE
Players will have their first chance to get Zeraora, the new Mythical Pokemon debuting in Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us, from October 19 - November 9. The Thunderclap Pokemon is being distributed via a download code at various retailers; those in the US can pick up a code at GameStop, while UK residents will be able to get one at Game stores. The Pokemon is level 50 and comes equipped with an Air Balloon, which allows it to avoid Ground-type attacks during battle until the balloon is popped.
Lugia/Ho-Oh - DONE
The Johto Legendaries Lugia and Ho-Oh are the final giveaways as part of the Year of Legendary Pokemon. Once again, players in the US will need to travel to a GameStop store to pick up a free download code for the Pokemon, and the one you receive depends on which version you're playing: those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Lugia, while Moon or Ultra Moon players will receive Ho-Oh.
The live-action Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian is set to be one of the key new shows on Disney+, the upcoming Disney streaming service. The show is currently in production, and writer/producer Jon Favreau has now posted a new image from the set.
Unlike the picture the Favreau released last month of Star Wars creator George Lucas visiting the production, this new picture has more to do with Disney's other huge franchise--the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Favreau directed Iron Man and Iron Man 2--and continues to occasionally act in the MCU as Happy Hogan--and this week he had a visit from several other Marvel directors. The picture shows Favreau with Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Peyton Reed (Ant-Man and the Wasp), and Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Infinity War). Check it out below.
While Reed and Russos were presumably just visiting, Waititi is set to direct one of the episodes of The Mandalorian. Other directors who have been announced for the show include Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jessica Jones's Deborah Chow.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal will take on the lead role in The Mandalorian. While no further casting announcements have been made so far, we know that the show will be set after Return of the Jedi, and will follow the adventures of a lone gunfighter. The first image was revealed in October.
In related news, it has also been confirmed that a Star Wars show centered on the character of Cassian Andor is also being lined up for Disney+. Diego Luna will reprise the role he played in 2016's hugely successful Rogue One, and the show has been described by the studio as a "rousing spy thriller" that will "explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."
Neither The Mandalorion or the Cassian Andor show currently have premiere dates, but Disney+ is expected to launch in late 2019.
Epic Games has launched Fortnite update 6.31 and has detailed the tweaks, changes, and new additions in the full patch notes. The headliners in the Battle Royale mode are the Team Rumble Limited Time Mode and two new rarities of the Pump Shotgun. For the Save the World mode, meanwhile, there's a new Constructor called Airheart, who arrives with a Rotating Omni-directional Sentry Integrated Exoskeleton (R.O.S.I.E). Here's what's new.
Team Rumble, as you may have guessed, involves two teams of 20 players battling each other, with the first to reach 100 eliminations crowned the victor. To spice things up players will respawn five seconds after they are killed and will keep their inventory when they re-join the battle. Furthermore, eliminated players spawn a random type of ammo and a random stack of either 120 Wood, 90 Stone, or 60 Metal materials when they're taken out.
The new Pump Shotguns are Epic and Legendary varities. They do 105 / 110 maximum damage, respectively, and their introduction coincides with some differences to maximum damage and damage fall-off (compared to before, they'll do more damage up close but less from further away). These two types of Pump Shotgun can be found from floor loot, chests, Supply Drops, and Vending Machines. With this change, Epic has removed the Double Barrel Shotgun from floor loot, so expect the shotguns you find on the ground to be of the Pump variety more often.
Another weapon-related change of note involves Dynamite, which was recently added. It's now possible to pick up a Dynamite that's been thrown and chuck it elsewhere; this is done by using the interact button/key while nearly it.
Finally, Epic announced it has introduced a gifting feature for a limited time (except on iOS). This feature will at least initially only be available for a week, but it allows you to buy items from the store and send them to friends. Doing so has several requirements, as outlined by Epic:
Make sure you have Multi-factor authentication enabled on your account. If you're not sure how to get this setup then check out the instructions here.
You must have been friends with somebody for at least 48 hours before you can send a gift to them.
You will only be able to gift three times within a 24 hour period.
Any gifts that are purchased are NOT refundable.
You can only gift an item that is currently available in the Item Shop.
Take a look at the full patch notes for Battle Royale below, and click here for more on the Save The World mode.

Fortnite is also having another crossover with Disney. While the last one resulted in Thanos appearing on the island, this time it's Ralph from Disney's Wreck-It Ralph movie series. He popped up recently in Fortnite as part of an unpublicised Easter egg, likely to help promote the new film Ralph Breaks The Internet.
With Red Dead Redemption 2's multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, launching today, Rockstar has provided new details--really, some of the first--regarding what to expect. Specifically, it's outlined two key activities in Red Dead Online's open world.
The first of these is Free Roam Missions, which appear as Stranger icons and can be embarked on either alone or with a Posse. Rockstar teases that these will involve "familiar faces" and that the way things play out will depend on your Honor level.
"For example, an honorable gunslinger may be asked to help escort a convoy, defending it from attacking gangs or even other players' Posses, whereas a dishonorable outlaw may be asked to help spring a felon from the law," Rockstar explained.
A Land of Opportunities, meanwhile, is described as a "deeper cooperative strand for two to four players" that Rockstar intends to continually expand. This is "a multi-part series of missions, with some parts changing as your honor changes on a larger journey to seek truth and justice, or revenge."
For those with a competitive edge, the online world will also have an assortment of competitive player-versus-player modes. At launch, Red Dead Online has five modes that are part of "a larger series of Showdowns," which seem to be playlists. Matchmaking is used to put players into these modes, including one that sounds a lot like battle royale called Make It Count:
Shootout & Team Shootout -- Classic gunfight modes with unlimited lives. Compete to rack up the most kills before the timer runs out. Sudden death will trigger in the event of a tie: whoever gets the first kill wins.
Make it Count -- A true test of resourcefulness in two game modes: use nothing but a bow and a handful of arrows or throwing knives to be the last one standing. With a gradually shrinking player area, there's nowhere to run.
Most Wanted -- A tactical race to the top. Every kill pushes you up the scoreboard, but watch out: the closer to the top you are, the more points everyone else gets for killing you.
Hostile Territory -- Work in teams to control the land. Capture a territory to start racking up points: the team with most points wins - or you can win outright by capturing every territory.
Name your Weapon -- Demonstrate your personal specialty in this free-for-all or team based match: the trickier the weapon you use to land the killing blow, the more points you get.
Red Dead Online is now available on PS4 and Xbox One in beta for select players. Availability will open up over the course of the week, culminating in a full release of the beta on Friday, November 30. You can check out when Red Dead Online unlocks in our detailed schedule.
Red Dead Online launched today, with Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition owners being the first wave of players given access to the multiplayer mode. But what awaits them when they take their gunslinging ways online? Rockstar has addressed that question, delivering details on what players can expect.
Rockstar describes Red Dead Online as a "continually expanding experience" and, as such, it intends to make additions and updates throughout the beta period. However, beginning right away, players will be able to form a Posse, establish a camp, and take on story-based cooperative missions. There are also strangers awaiting them in the open-world, free roaming challenges, activities such as fishing, and some good old-fashioned exploration.
As players undertake these activities they'll rack up experience that contributes towards rank and bonuses. Over time, items can be unlocked and character attributes can be improved. There are also 12 categories that players can earn distinctions in, such as combat, hunting, sharpshooting, and survivalist.
Red Dead Online begins in Sisika Penitentiary, where players will first get a horse, set up camp, find treasure, equip an Ability Card and, according to Rockstar, "meet some fateful characters with a larger story to tell; one that involves chasing truth, revenge, and honor."
The action-based honor system from the main game is also present in Red Dead Online, with your decisions and behaviour shaping how the world views your character. Depending on your alignment, the world around you will respond differently and Rockstar says "the nature of certain missions will reveal themselves to you based on your current honor states."
Rockstar has also provided details on the various Red Dead Online modes you can expect to see right away. The lineup includes one PvP mode that sounds a lot like battle royale.
As previously revealed, the Red Dead Online beta is now available for those that have the Ultimate Edition. After that there's a gradual rollout, with anyone that played Red Dead Redemption 2 on its launch day given access to the beta from November 28. Those that played Red Dead Redemption 2 at any point between launch and October 29 will be able to jump into the beta from November 29. And then anyone who owns the game can check it out from November 30. This gradual rollout, Rockstar says, will help it "ease into the beta and to mitigate major issues."
