Black Friday 2018 deals are now mere hours away, but we already know a lot of what to expect thanks to early ads. That includes Target's offering, and to help you make the most of what the retailer is offering we've assembled what we think are its best deals on TVs and tech. Target has many deals on TV, movies, and tech you might want to take advantage of, and that includes tons of discounts on video games and consoles which you can see here. Target has plenty of televisions on sale, many of which won't break the bank, and a few nice ones with 4K ultra high definition for as little as $200. There are many ways to upgrade your old TV as well with streaming devices that can turn any old television into a smart one. We've gone through the Target ad to pick out some of the best deals to keep track of on Black Friday. Keep in mind that supplies will be limited, and it's first-come, first-served at each location, so you'll want to get there early for a few of these doorbusters. This year's Black Friday event kicks off on November 24; however, Target's deals will be available November 22-24. Store hours on Thanksgiving Day will vary by location, so make sure to check with your local Target before heading out. You can see the store's full ad on its website. Samsung 65" Smart Curved UHD TV -- $800
If you're looking for a heavy-duty television that's large and in charge, then Target has a great deal on a 65" smart TV from Samsung. For Black Friday, it will be $300 off the original price, which is a pretty great deal for a curved TV that is this large, especially one that's in 4K. Element 55" Smart 4K UHD TV -- $200
If spending near a grand is out of your price range, you can still get a big screen TV for very little money. Target's doorbuster deal on a 55" Element will run you $200. Google Chromecast Ultra -- $50
If you are not in the market for a new TV, but want to give it the same abilities as many smart TVs, you can go about it, in a roundabout way, by picking up a Google Chromecast Ultra. Normally costing $70, this device allows you to stream entertainment from your phone or tablet to your television in 4K and HDR. There is a long list of compatible apps for Chromecast, including Google Play Movies, YouTube, Hulu, Playstation Vue, Netflix and more. Roku Ultra Streaming Player -- $50
There are more options than just Chromecast to update your TV. Normally priced $100, Target is offering the Roku Ultra for $50, which comes with JBL headphones and a voice remote, so you can watch Netflix, Hulu, Sling, and other apps on your TV. Sony 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Player -- $150
If you're still buying physical copies of movies, then you may be in the market for a 4K player. Target is offering $100 off this Sony player. Amazon Echo (Gen 2) -- $69
If you've been holding out on one of the many smart home devices, Black Friday may be the time to pick one up if you're in the market for it. The recently released Google Home Hub will be a doorbuster item for Target's Black Friday sale. Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet -- $100

PlayStation 4's Best Black Friday 2018 Deals
We are now just a day away from Black Friday 2018 officially starting, and the vast majority of deals on PS4 consoles, games, and accessories are already available to take advantage of. We've already compiled all of these deals, spanning retailers like GameStop, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target, but this gallery is designed to bring together what we think the best of those deals all in one place, making it easier for you to pick out what you want and get it. If you're eager to start shopping, the PSN Black Friday sale is already live, and the PS4 Spider-Man bundle that will be on sale seemingly everywhere is already discounted to $200. Ebay has stepped up its game this year, and it's one of the few places you'll find a cheap PS4 Pro and Spider-Man. We thought Fallout 76 wasn't going to be on sale, which would be no surprise considering it only just released, but it turns out that it will go for $40. PlayStation has seen more acclaimed triple-A console exclusives this year than Xbox, and many of them are on sale this Black Friday. This includes games released earlier in the year--like Detroit: Become Human and God of War--as well as more recent titles. Like last year, the PS4 Slim is also being sold at a discounted price, but surprisingly no retailer has announced a deal for the more powerful PS4 Pro yet. This Black Friday, third-party titles are also on sale, like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. PSVR is also getting a discount, and with the recent release of Tetris Effect and upcoming addition of Beat Saber to the system's game library, there's never been such a good time to invest in a headset. PlayStation 4 Consoles
There are currently two versions of the PS4 console being sold in stores, the Slim and the Pro. The Slim is essentially a thinner variation of the original PS4, while the Pro is a more powerful console that can support 4K for certain games. Currently, retailers are only offering Black Friday deals for the PS4 Slim, but that doesn't mean Pro deals won't pop up closer to the holiday. If you do decide to go for a Pro, regardless if it's on sale or not, consider taking advantage of a Black Friday deal on a TV or computer monitor that supports 4K. PlayStation VR
VR hasn't been able to reach as many people as some other forms of gaming tech, most likely because of the high price tag and lack of quality games. However, PSVR library's now includes titles like Tetris Effect--one of the best games of 2018--and Beat Saber. Plus, you save $100 if you decide to buy a PSVR bundle from Best Buy or Target this Black Friday. Detroit: Become Human
In our Detroit: Become Human review, Peter Brown gave the game a 7/10, writing, "I played with my best intentions. Things didn't always go the way I wanted, but that was a burden I chose to bear, and the story benefitted from my commitment, flowcharts be damned." This PS4 exclusive currently sells for $40 on the PlayStation Store, but you can buy it for half off at Best Buy this Black Friday. If you happen to miss out on this deal, both Target and Walmart also have a fairly large discount on the game.
Doom VFR
In our Doom VFR review, Justin Clark gave the game a 7/10, writing, "For the most part, shooting your way through Hell's armies feels just as brutal as it does in the 2016 game. Demons explode into bloody, fleshy messes. ...The big missing element here is the Glory Kill system, where hitting the melee button on a blinking enemy let you demolish them with a quick, gruesome fatality." In Doom VFR, you experience the pulse-pounding first-person shooter action of one of 2016's best shooters in an immersive VR experience. Best Buy is selling the game at a discount, so hurry on over if you're looking for another title for your PSVR.
Dragon Ball FighterZ
In our Dragon Ball FighterZ review, Peter Brown gave the game a 9/10, writing, "FighterZ is complex and distinct enough to be enjoyed by fighting game competitors, but there's no question that it's been designed to tap into the hearts of Dragon Ball's most dedicated fans, and no doubt those same qualities will win people over who've never given the series a chance." This Black Friday, Walmart is offering one of 2018's best fighting games at one of the lowest price points it's ever been.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age
In our Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age review, Heidi Kemps gave the game a 9/10, writing, "Innovation in games is talked about a lot, but it's also great to see traditional gameplay formulas that have been around for decades presented exceptionally well. Dragon Quest XI is one of the best modern examples of this; its beautiful presentation, both visual- and story-wise, combines with a tried-and-true gameplay formula for a journey that's full of heart and soul." You can purchase Dragon Quest XI from Best Buy at half price this Black Friday, which is quite the deal for one of 2018's longest and best RPGs.
F1 2018
In our F1 2018 review, James Swinbanks gave the game a 9/10, writing, "F1 2018 is brilliant, and the most complete Formula One game to date. The changes to career mode make it the strongest and most appealing it's ever been thanks to the revamped upgrade system, while the simulation-like additions to the driving model bring you closer than ever to the feeling of sitting on the grid with 1000+ horsepower at your feet, without overwhelming those who just want to jump in and drive." Just as Xbox One has Forza Horizon 4, PS4 has F1 2018. Both racing games are on sale this Black Friday, and Best Buy and Target are offering the latter at half price.
God Of War (2018)
In our God of War review, Peter Brown gave the game a 9/10, writing, "In many ways God of War is what the series has always been. It's a spectacular action game with epic set pieces, big-budget production values, and hard-hitting combat that grows more feverish and impressive as you progress. What may surprise you is how mature its storytelling has become." God of War continues Kratos story in one of the most well-written video games of 2018, and this Black Friday, you can buy the game for a major discount from several retailers.
MLB The Show 18
In our MLB The Show 18 review, Eddie Makuch gave the game a 9/10, writing, "Sony's flagship baseball franchise has never been better. With its best-in-class controls and visuals, and impeccable attention to detail for the small stuff, MLB The Show 18 is worth catching for any baseball fan." If you haven't gotten the chance to play the newest title in the MLB The Show series, Walmart is offering the game at a major discount this Black Friday.
Monster Hunter World
In our Monster Hunter World review, Ginny Woo gave the game an 8/10, writing, "Ever since the title was first announced, it was clear that Capcom was gunning for something grander than Monster Hunter Generations. It has succeeded, and this is likely the biggest and best that the franchise has ever been." Monster Hunter World brought a new generation of players into the Monster Hunter series, with its accessible gameplay. If you've ever wanted to play a Monster Hunter game, then try World. It's on sale this Black Friday at a fraction of its normal price.
Nier: Automata
In our Nier: Automata review, Miguel Concepcion gave the game a 9/10, writing, "Thanks to Platinum Games' knack for riveting and gratifying combat, Automata is Yoko Taro's most exciting game to date. The combat mechanics click after hurdling a low learning curve, and the end result is a skillful dance where balletic dodges complement wushu-inspired aggression." The less you've been told about Nier: Automata before going into it, the better. Just know that this phenomenal 2017 RPG is on sale this Black Friday at Best Buy.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2019
In our Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 review, Richard Wakeling gave the game a 9/10, writing, "The lack of licences for top-tier leagues remains a disheartening sticking point, but PES continues to make brilliant strides on the pitch, building on what was already an incredibly satisfying game of football to produce one of the greatest playing football games of all time." If you're tired of FIFA and Rocket League, but still want to play a soccer video game, then Best Buy's Black Friday deal on PES 2019 might interest you.
Shining Resonance Refrain
Shining Resonance Refrain originally released on PS3 in Japan, before coming to the west on current generation consoles and PC. The game mixes together action-based combat and relationship forming conversations. If you're at least interested in Refrain, but are wary of paying full price for something you've heard little about, then take advantage of Best Buy's Black Friday deal on the game.
SoulCalibur VI
In our SoulCalibur VI review, Tamoor Hussain gave the game an 8/10, writing, "SoulCalibur VI is a fighting game that's easy to recommend. Like all the best titles in the genre, it has a low barrier to entry and high skill ceiling. For those looking to get in a few games with friends it's welcoming and immediately enjoyable. PlayStation Plus
For Black Friday, Best Buy is selling a 12-month subscription to PlayStation Plus for $40, which is one of the lowest prices the service is sold at these days. Subscribing to PS Plus both allows you to play games online with others and provides you with new free digital games to download every month.
Fallout 76
Fallout 76 is the series' first foray into online multiplayer. It's a major shift for the franchise, as this is an online-only game. The critical reception has not been especially warm, but regardless, those interested will be able to pick it up for $40 despite it having only just released last week. PS4

It took a little longer than Sony and Microsoft, but Nintendo has now finally launched its Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale on the Eshop. The digital sale runs between now and November 28 at 9 AM PT (12 PM ET). And while you won't find as many titles on sale on the Eshop as you will on the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, the deals that are available tend to be on particularly fantastic games. We'll look at the highlights of the sale in the pages ahead, but check out the full list of discounted games for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 2/3DS for even more discounts. Buying many of these Eshop games will earn you My Nintendo Gold Points, which you can use to purchase eligible digital content from the Eshop (one Gold Point equals one cent) or redeem for various rewards. If you don't find what you're looking for in the Eshop Black Friday sale, you have plenty of other discounts to consider at other retailers. Dead Cells
In our 9/10 Dead Cells review, Daniel Starkey wrote, "Dead Cells is a phenomenal effort to blend together some very disparate genres into a tight, cohesive whole. It's one of the better examples of how to remix ideas without losing their individual strengths."
Doom
In our 7/10 Doom review for Nintendo Switch Peter Brown wrote, "If you can stand to look at a lesser version of Doom's once captivating world, you'll find that the game plays well enough on Switch so long as you've got a TV in front of you and a Pro Controller in hand. There's nothing else like it on a portable system, but be prepared to face a handful of compromises, especially if you're used to playing on other platforms."
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
In our 8/10 Skyrim on Switch review, Kallie Plagge wrote, "The original version of Skyrim is still an immense, engrossing RPG, and the quality, number, and variety of its quests makes it as easy to become lost in its world as ever. With the addition of Zelda-themed gear that's actually useful--and the fact that you can play anywhere--the Switch version of Skyrim is a great excuse to revisit a much-loved RPG."
FIFA 19
In our 5/10 FIFA 19 Switch review, Oscar Dayus wrote, "FIFA 19 [is] a playable, competent game of football encased in a package of outdated modes and lacking the controls and features you really want."
Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD
In our 7/10 Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD review, Justin Clark wrote, "All these things have been admirably translated, in a way far less intimidating to newcomers and logistically fascinating to veterans. You get the parts of that experience that count the most towards the narrative from Pocket Edition, and the gameplay, rudimentary it may be, has been as elegantly streamlined as possible to obtain that experience. This is still, ultimately, Final Fantasy XV, and while there's a lot of the game that you might want out of Pocket Edition, there's an argument to be made that this version of FFXV will serve you just fine."
The Messenger
In our 8/10 The Messenger review, Alexander Pan wrote, "The Messenger takes the best parts of the action-platformers it takes influence from and reinterprets them well. With clever writing, well-designed levels, and balanced difficulty curve, the game continuously hooks you with enticing skill-based challenges and satisfying payoffs. Your character might have an immediate imperative to delivering a world-saving scroll, but the journey there is definitely one to savor."
NBA 2K19
In our 7/10 NBA 2K19 review, Michael Higham wrote, "It's impressive that the game of basketball has translated to controllers and screens in the way it has. If you want to immerse yourself in the sport and culture, NBA 2K19 has you covered with a breadth of content. But even that has its limitations after several years of iterations. Although those willing to grind for everything will eventually get rewarded, the system of VC still comes off as exploitative. But there's a lot of fun to be had in NBA 2K19 despite its flaws, especially if you have a strong love for the sport."
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove includes the core game, plus three expansions, two of which are already available, with the third scheduled to release in 2019. In our 7/10 Shovel Knight review, Tom McShea wrote, "No matter which era it had been released in, Shovel Knight would have been embraced. Its inherent charms are timeless. Shovel Knight is a good reminder that game design does age but can never die and that simple mechanics can still be immensely satisfying."
Sonic Mania
In our 9/10 Sonic Mania review, Matt Espinelli wrote, "Sonic Mania methodically uses its sentimental appeal to great effect, but in the process, it heals the wounds inflicted by its most disappointing predecessors and surpasses the series' best with its smart and interpretive design. An excellent 2D platformer, Sonic Mania goes beyond expectations, managing to be not only a proper evolution of the series' iconic formula, but the best Sonic game ever made."
South Park: The Stick of Truth
In our 7/10 South Park: The Stick of Truth review, Kevin VanOrd wrote, "South Park: The Stick of Truth is not the second coming of role-playing games, so if you come seeking Jesus, you'll be disappointed by the veritable second-rate televangelist you find in His place. But it's as funny as the merry tune of Stratford, and more enjoyable than Butters' favorite game, Hello Kitty: Island Adventure."
Thumper
In our 9/10 Thumper review, Peter Brown wrote, "It sounds odd to claim that a lack of consistently original music wouldn't be a major problem for a rhythm game, but music isn't the point. Thumper thrives due to the way it marries speed, simple controls, and mesmerizing atmosphere. It's far more convincing in VR, where you're enveloped in the game's space and free of distractions from the outside world, but it shouldn't be ignored by those without the appropriate hardware. Thumper, no matter how you play it, is too good to miss."
Undertale
In our 9/10 Undertale review, Tyler Hicks wrote, "Without spoiling the many ways it will screw with your expectations, it isn't possible to truly capture how wonderful Undertale is. You wouldn't know it with a passing glance, but it's one of the most progressive and innovative RPGs to come in a long time, breaking down tradition for the sake of invention, with great success."
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
In our 8/10 Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus review, Kallie Plagge wrote, "As long as you're able to play the entire game in docked mode, The New Colossus is the same fantastic game it is on other platforms. It runs well and, despite some minor visual compromises, it still looks pretty good. Handheld mode is unfortunately far less optimized, and the Joy-Cons simply don't feel as good to use as the Pro Controller. If Switch is your only way to play it, The New Colossus is absolutely worth your time--just not on the go."

Best Steam "Autumn Sale" Black Friday 2018 Game Deals
Steam has launched its annual Autumn Sale, which serves as the equivalent of the digital storefront's sale for Black Friday. Steam operator Valve is known for offering games at a discount for most of the year round, so it takes the annual shopping event as an opportunity to dig even deeper than usual. As a result there are plenty of sales to be had. The Autumn Sale lasts through November 27 at 10 AM PT. Alongside some of the software listed below, Steam is also offering discounts on its own hardware, like 30% off a Steam Controller, or the soon to be hard-to-find Steam Link for $2.50. In some cases you may be better off using a third-party that distributes Steam codes like Fanatical, so be sure to comparison shop even when the bargains look great. Alongside the Steam Autumn Sale, the company is hosting the Steam Awards. These user-voted awards are giving accolades for some expected categories like Game of the Year and VR Game of the Year, along with more esoteric categories like The Labor of Love Award and the Best Alternate History Award. Valkyria Chronicles 4 - $30
Valkyria Chronicles has had its ups and downs as a series, but this latest entry is a return to form. The strategy series follows a loose retelling of World War 2 as a dreadful fascistic army ruthlessly takes over lands. This being an RPG, of course, the telling is supplemented by magical elements, but Valkyria Chronicles was first and foremost memorable for its strong characters and surprising themes. Valkyria Chronicles 4 takes the series to a new theater of war and adds some new mechanics, but it ultimately keeps all the systems in place that made the original a cult classic. Yakuza 0 -- $13.39
The long-running Yakuza series is known for its juxtaposition of a serious story and wacky side activity hijinks, and Yakuza 0 makes for a perfect entry point. Set years before previous entries, this serves as a fine introduction to Kiryu and company. Hollow Knight -- $10
You're a fragile beetle when you first start Hollow Knight and begin your descent into its massive subterranean world. As you explore, you'll find many powerful enemies, including intimidating bosses that can overtake you in just a few swipes. But if you stick with it, you'll gain all sorts of new powers and abilities, unlocking new areas, and unraveling the many mysteries of this gorgeous underground world. It's an adventure worth taking. Shadow of the Tomb Raider -- $30
Crystal Dynamics' reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise has been met with quite a bit of acclaim. While Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the third post-reboot entry, stumbled a bit with fans and critics, there's still a lot to like about the game--especially at half off. An even stronger focus on exploring tombs and an emphasis on the dark and spooky dangers within means there are lots of cool depths into which to delve. New stealth mechanics make Lara Croft even deadlier and encourage new strategies. And new DLC through the season pass introduces cooperative play through some puzzle-heavy levels that shift the dynamic of the game. Sonic Games -- 66-85% off

Nier Automata -- $30
Nier Automata is much more than the hack-and-slash action RPG you see at first glance. Gameplay-wise, you'll be tasked to fight from different perspectives and occasionally take control of a mech that transforms the game into a top-down shooter. Being effective in traditional combat means you'll be dodging at the precise moment and firing off your pod, and you'll be configuring a chipset that acts as a set of abilities to cater to your playstyle. However, that's not what makes Nier Automata the tremendous game it is. Series producer Yoko Taro has a knack for unconventional storytelling, and he pulls out all the stops here. There are many layers to this tale of android existentialism with multiple playthroughs, alternate endings, and ambiguous story elements all contributing its overall impact. Its soundtrack has a significant role, too, as it communicates tone as strongly as any line of dialogue. You'll be thinking about this game well after you've completed all its story paths. Resident Evil franchise -- 35-80% off
The granddaddy of the survival horror genre has gone through so many iterations, reboots, alterations, and retcons that there's something for just about anyone to enjoy. However, Dead Cells' responsive controls and easy-to-grasp mechanics means you're never at a complete disadvantage. It may still only be Thanksgiving, but Black Friday 2018 deals have begun at most stores, which means there's lots of discounts out there for you to take advantage of. Among those is the PlayStation Network; Sony has launched its PSN sale on digital PS4 games and there's quite a lot on sale. Here we're taking a look at our recommendations for the best PSN sale deals on PS4. The PS4 Black Friday sale is a nice mixture of new games, a few from earlier in 2018, and some from before that too. In a surprise move, after the sale first started, Sony added Spider-Man to the mix, letting you get the base game for $40. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is still quite new but drops to $48. For those that have been looking for an opportunity to pick up Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the sale has the standard edition available for $41, which is down from $60. The deluxe, gold, and ultimate editions of the game are also available for between $20 - $30 off the usual asking price. If you'd like a little PlayStation nostalgia, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is down to $20, which is a pretty good price considering the package contains the original Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and Warped. Beyond that, there's Destiny 2's Forsaken expansion for $30 and Detroit: Become Human for $22. Perhaps the most enticing deal of them all is God of War for $22. If you own a PS4, that's a must-play, and at that price it's also a no-brainer. In terms of older titles, Arkane's Dishonored 2 is being bundled with Prey for $26, while Blizzard's Diablo: Eternal Collection is $20. God of War -- $22
God of War manages to achieve what some thought could not be done: Bringing back Kratos, a character that has spent his entire video gaming career murdering gods ruthlessly without a shred of remorse or a thought given to consequence, and humanizes him. 2018's God of War reboot takes place many years after the originals and now Kratos has a son to raise, which means he is set on ensuring the apple falls as far from the tree as possible. Their journey together is a heartfelt depiction of strained father and son relationships, and a fascinating deconstruction of a character most thought of as being one-dimensional. Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition -- $15
One of 2017's big surprises, Horizon: Zero Dawn is developed by Guerrilla Games, the studio known for the Killzone series. Spider-Man -- $40
Insomniac's hit Spider-Man game looked as if it would go without any discounts this Black Friday (outside of its inclusion in the $200 PS4 system bundle), but after PSN's sale first started, it was added to the lineup. You can find the base game for $39.59, while the Digital Deluxe edition is $60. The latter includes various bonus content, most notably the three announced DLC expansions--two of which are now available. Spider-Man does a terrific job of letting you live out the Spidey experience. Your Black Friday 2018 planning had better be underway, as we're already at Thanksgiving which means the big day is just a handful of hours away. Some retailers, however, have already made their sales live, which means you can start shopping now if you're super keen. Nintendo Switch deals are more plentiful this year than last, both on the system itself and games for it. If you're in the market for Nintendo Switch discounts, it can be difficult to know where to start. Should you set your alarm to hit retailers early in the morning? Camp out after finishing Thanksgiving dinner? Or just sit in your pajamas with a laptop waiting for a deal to go live online? Kohl's Nintendo Switch Console Deal
If you don't necessarily want Mario Kart 8 with your Nintendo Switch purchase, you may want to consider the Kohl's Black Friday sale. For $330--or $30 above the standard price--you get a standard console, Turtle Beach headset, carrying case, and $90 in Kohl's Cash. You could apply that store credit towards the store's (somewhat limited) selection of games, making it a good deal for bargain hunters who may want to pick up other items at Kohl's anyway.
Arms ($35) -- Walmart
Nintendo's first-party games are notoriously resistant to price drops, so picking up a steep discount on even an older game can be a steal. Arms was a cute and quirky take on the fighting genre and received a positive reception in GameSpot's Arms review. At $35 it's almost half-price from its still-hanging-in-there MSRP of $59.99. One of the more recent first-party games going on sale, Kirby Star Allies brings back the pink puffball for another adventure. This time he brings his friends along, with a mechanic all about forging alliances with the other denizens of Dreamworld. Our review called it "an artistic showcase, and a great opportunity for co-op platforming." If you miss out on Walmart's price, you can get almost as good a deal at Best Buy for $40 instead. Some games just get marked down incredibly quickly for Black Friday, and Lego DC Supervillains is one. It just came out in mid-October, and it's already going for half-price. Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle ($20) -- Best Buy

South Park: The Fractured But Whole ($17) -- Walmart
This particular Switch port sheds the console's family-friendly image for the very mature (and immature) humor of South Park's youngsters. South Park: The Fractured But Whole is a direct sequel to The Stick of Truth, but you don't really need to have played the first, and the combination of stellar writing and solid RPG mechanics made it an inviting combination again. Starlink: Battle for Atlas Starter Pack ($35) -- Best Buy
Ubisoft's own take on the toys-to-life genre is another very recent game going on sale for Black Friday. Starlink: Battle for Atlas takes arcade ship combat and lets you customize your own ship with swappable weapons and pilots. The result was a solid and engaging take on the genre, but like most toys-to-life games the starter pack may have caused some potential players sticker shock--especially since many players will want to keep buying more ships and weapons to augment their fleet. Marked down to $35 makes it a much easier pill to swallow, and on top of that, the Switch version includes exclusive Starfox missions and an Arwing ship. Buy at Best Buy
Valkyria Chronicles 4 ($40) -- Best Buy
After an initial debut that became a cult favorite, Valkyria Chronicles fumbled for some identity. The second and third games didn't hit as big, and the less said about Valkyria Revolution the better. Valkyria Chronicles 4 takes the series back to its roots with a lengthy story campaign, a wide cast of JRPG characters, and the same tactical gameplay that made the first game stand out. The Switch version compares well with the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions, but also lets you take it with you wherever you go. Buy at Best Buy

Walmart's Best Black Friday 2018 Game Sales
It's Thanksgiving, and that means the Black Friday 2018 deals are rolling in, even though the event officially kicks off tomorrow. This year, the annual shopping holiday will officially begin on November 23, but retailers have provided prospective spenders a heads-up through their ads. First off the starting line was Target, but others such as Best Buy and Sam's Club have now followed. If you're anything like us, you'll find it all a bit overwhelming. The ridiculous amount of deals whizzing about the internet right now makes it hard to focus on the best, so we've decided to pick through them and pull out the ones we think are worth consideration. Online shoppers will get access to Walmart's discounts through Walmart.com on Wednesday, November 21 at 10 PM ET (7 PM PT). Since supplies can be limited, it's worth scoping out what you want ahead of time to give yourself the best chance of scooping it up. Walmart has a nice selection of hardware and games on offer. For example, if you're in the market for Sony's latest system, the PS4 Slim 1TB with Spider-Man will be available for $199--it's not the more powerful PS4 Pro, but this is still a great price for current hardware. Similarly, the Xbox One S Minecraft Creators Bundle is going to be knocked down to $199. Alternatively, you can opt for the Xbox One X and save $100 on it, meaning you'll pay $399. Nintendo Switch, meanwhile, will be available for $299 with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In terms of games, Walmart has recent releases such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection, among others. In our Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 review, Kallie Plagge gave the game an 8/10, writing, "Blackout pushes Call of Duty in an entirely new direction, making use of aspects from both multiplayer and Zombies for a take on the battle royale genre that stands on its own. Sure, there isn't a traditional single-player campaign, but with the depth and breadth of what is there, Black Ops 4 doesn't need it." Black Ops 4 hasn't been out for very long, but it's already making waves with its phenomenal Blackout battle royale mode. There's a $20 discount on Black Ops 4 at Walmart this Black Friday, and the game is on sale at Best Buy and Target too.
Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection
In our Destiny 2: Forsaken review, Kallie Plagge gave the expansion an 8/10, writing, "There is a lot to do in Forsaken, so much so that it can be difficult to see it all. That also means that, for the average player, this expansion has a much longer tail than previous iterations of Destiny 2." Forsaken Legendary Collection includes Destiny 2, Expansion I: Curse of Osiris, Expansion II: Warmind, Forsaken, and a level 30 character boost. It's pretty much everything you need to catch up with other players, and Target is offering the entire collection for half the cost of a normal triple-A title.
Diablo 3: Eternal Collection
In our Diablo 3: Eternal Collection review, Mike Mahardy gave the game a 9/10, writing, "Diablo 3 is a game about long term goals accomplished in short, thrilling bursts. It's rewarding and subtle. It's flashy and boisterous." Eternal Collection includes Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition and the Rise of the Necromancer expansion. That's dozens of hours of looting, and both Walmart and Best Buy are offering the collection at a third of its normal cost.
Doom (2016)
In our Doom review, Peter Brown gave the game an 8/10, writing, "But without a doubt, the loud and chaotic campaign is Doom's strongest component. It's straightforward and simple, but it serves its purpose: to thrust you into increasingly dire scenarios fueled by rage and the spirit of heavy metal. Many shooters chase the thrill Doom delivers, but few are as potent in their execution." Doom may have been overshadowed by Overwatch in 2016, but it's still one of the best first-person shooters seen in recent years. With Doom's sequel scheduled for 2019, it's the perfect time to catch up with the first game. This Black Friday, Walmart is selling it for $12 and Target also has a discount that's nearly as good.
Dragon Ball FighterZ
In our Dragon Ball FighterZ review, Peter Brown gave the game a 9/10, writing, "FighterZ is complex and distinct enough to be enjoyed by fighting game competitors, but there's no question that it's been designed to tap into the hearts of Dragon Ball's most dedicated fans, and no doubt those same qualities will win people over who've never given the series a chance." One of the best fighting games of 2018 is being sold at a fraction of its original cost at Walmart, Best Buy, and Target.
For Honor: Marching Fire Edition
In our For Honor review, Matt Espineli gave the game an 8/10, writing, "After slaying countless foes, it's clear the impact For Honor's combat has had; its fundamental tenets of discipline and restraint are bestowed upon you permanently, forever changing the way you perceive a melee-combat encounter in a game." Forza Horizon 4

Injustice 2: Legendary Edition

Middle-earth: Shadow Of War Definitive Edition
In our Middle-earth: Shadow of War review, Justin Haywald gave the game a 7/10, writing, "[Shadow of War] tries to be larger than its predecessor, there are more abilities, more weapons, more Orcs, yet it leaves you wanting less. But at its core, it's a fun experience with brilliant moments that provide fascinating insight into some of the untold stories of Middle-earth." Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Gold Edition
In our Resident Evil 7: Biohazard review, Scott Buttersworth gave the game an 8/10, writing, "The boss fights may be slightly inconsistent and certain sections might drag after a while, but RE7 is still a remarkable success. It has a clear vision and executes it with impressive patience and precision." At Walmart, you can buy the Gold Edition of Resident Evil 7--which includes all three of the game's DLC packs--for $17, which is only $5 more than the store's Black Friday deal of the standard edition of the game.

The Best Target Black Friday 2018 Video Game Deals
Black Friday 2018 is set to officially launch tomorrow but the Black Friday deals have already started at a number of retailers, which is giving eager shoppers the chance to grab some discounts ahead of time. Full preview ads have been released for many stores, including Target, but what are the best deals on games and consoles that it's offering? Most of Target's gaming deals involve PS4 and Xbox One, with individual games (rather than accessories or consoles) representing the bulk of the offers. Still, there is a nice mixture of things, including a great doorbuster deal on a PS4 bundle with Spider-Man (albeit one you'll find at a number of stores), as well as a free game for buying a Nintendo Switch (again, mirrored by other retailers). And while not every big fall release is on sale--you'll be paying full price for Red Dead Redemption 2, at least at Target--many others are discounted. Among others, those include NBA 2K19, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and Forza Horizon 4. One thing to be aware of is that specific pricing can vary somewhat significantly from store to store. We've now gotten Walmart and Best Buy's respective ads, and they beat Target pricing in some cases. Luckily, all of this is coming out well in advance of Black Friday, so you should have time to make a plan. Black Friday this year takes place on November 23, although Target's deals will be available from November 22-24. Specific store hours on Thanksgiving Day will vary by location, as some states have previously banned stores from opening on Thursday. You can see the store's full ad on its website. Assassin's Creed Odyssey -- $35 (PS4/Xbox One)
The newest game in the Assassin's Creed Odyssey series is a good one, embracing the foray into Witcher-style RPG gameplay that 2017's Origins experimented with. It boasts a huge map, some fun naval gameplay, and a ton to do. It only just released in October, so $35 is a nice price to see so soon. God of War -- $25 (PS4)
One of the standout games from the first half of the year is God of War. The series formerly known best for its violence returned with a surprisingly touching father-son story--paired with some excellent combat featuring Kratos's new axe weapon, which works a lot like Thor's hammer. NBA 2K is routinely considered the best NBA sim series around, and this year is no different. SoulCalibur VI -- $35 (PS4/Xbox One)
Another recent release, SoulCalibur VI released in late October and represented a welcome return for the weapons-based fighting game series. PS4 with Marvel's Spider-Man -- $200

Forza's alternating release schedule continued this fall, with its Horizon sub-series of open-world games seeing the launch of Forza Horizon 4. It's an incredibly fun game that offers a surprising amount of variety for a racing game. One thing to be aware of before buying it is that, like all first-party Xbox One games, it's available through Xbox Game Pass, meaning you get complete access to the game for as long as you're a subscriber. Nintendo Switch with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe -- $300
While this doesn't represent a discount over Switch's standard price, we don't tend to see the system go on sale often (and certainly not outside of places like Ebay). As such, getting a $60 game (which itself, like most Nintendo games, is rarely discounted by much) for free by picking up the system isn't half bad, especially considering that Deluxe is a great package of Mario Kart content. Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle -- $25 (Nintendo Switch)
When Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle first leaked, it looked like a joke of an idea. In fact, it turned out to be a truly pleasant surprise, offering a take on XCOM-esque tactics gameplay that filled a void which otherwise still hasn't been well addressed on Switch. Your one-stop game shop this Black Friday?
GameStop is the most ubiquitous games retailer in the US, but it isn't the only retailer selling games, consoles, and accessories at attractive discounts for Black Friday 2018. Today is Thanksgiving, and although Black Friday technically begins tomorrow, sales at big retailers like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy are rolling in, and direct sales through platforms like PSN, Xbox Live, and the Switch Eshop provide further options for all those goods. A lot of these deals are pretty competitive, but depending on what you're after, GameStop could have a deal or two for you consider before all the sales get underway. Most significantly, it's the only place we've seen so far with plans to discount Fallout 76, which only just released. The deals on the slides ahead are all for new products, but we're talking about GameStop here, so let's quickly see what deals it has in store for its pre-owned inventory. There are plenty of great games in used condition for under $10, including: Batman: Arkham Knight ($7), Fallout 4 on Xbox One ($9), Final Fantasy XV on PS4 ($8), Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PS4 ($7), Titanfall 2 ($7), and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End ($7). Members of GameStop's PowerUp Rewards program that purchase any item between Nov. 22 and Nov. 25 will also be treated to a buy-two-get-one-free coupon that goes live on Dec. 3. Call of Duty is a hot commodity every year. Some people come for the single-player campaign, but Black Ops 4 is a purely multiplayer experience. It's not surprising to see that happen, but it is reassuring to see how smoothly Call of Duty's tried-and-true DNA translated to the new style of play. $10 - Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition
There's never been a game quite like Horizon Zero Dawn, and to be able to pick it up with all of its DLC for only $10 is an awesome opportunity. With robotic dinosaurs and other types of monstrous creatures roaming a world on the verge of post-apocalyptic recovery, you have little more than primitive weapons, quick wits, and modest acrobatics with which to fight back. The odds will feel stacked against you, but that only makes victory over the vicious alloy beasts all the sweeter. If you were swept up with anticipation for Breath of the Wild and somehow missed Horizon Zero Dawn back then, consider giving it a shot now that its being sold at such a ridiculously low price. $17 - God Of War
While we're recommending PlayStation 4 exclusives on sale at GameStop this Black Friday, this year's excellent God of War reboot will be marked down to $17--another doorbuster deal worth considering. Santa Monica Studios took an aging series and revitalized it with a fresh spin on the lead character Kratos, and a new setting and set of gods to contend with. Beyond being a solid reboot, however, it's simply a remarkable game in general. The action is hard-hitting, sights from picturesque to grotesque are rendered in great detail, and the relationship between a father and son that forms the backbone of the moment-to-moment narrative successfully draws you into the plight that lies ahead of our heroes. Two of the fall's most anticipated sequels hit US theaters this week. Creed II is the follow-up to 2015's acclaimed Rocky spin-off and sees Michael B. Jordan return as the rising boxing star Adonis Creed, with Sylvester Stallone back again as Rocky Balboa. More than 40 years after the first movie, the Rocky series continues to find an audience, and the smart updating of the series in these new movies suggests that it still has a few bouts left in it. There's also Ralph Breaks the Internet, which is the long-awaited Wreck-It Ralph sequel. Six years is a long time in Hollywood, especially when your target audience is young, but predictions suggest that this new movie is set to dominate the box office this coming weekend. While both Creed II and Ralph Breaks the Internet aren't set to reach the UK for a few weeks, the latest updating of Robin Hood opens in both territories. There's also the UK release of the thriller The Girl in the Spider's Web, and Pokemon fans in both territories can watch the latest animated movie in the franchise. And over on Netflix, Kurt Russell dons his Santa hat to star in the Holiday comedy The Christmas Chronicles. So here's the week's new releases in the both the US and UK, in both theaters and on streaming...
Ralph Breaks the Internet
Watch it in US theaters on November 21 The 2012 animated comedy Wreck-It Ralph was a critical and commercial hit, and the sequel arrives finally this week. It focuses on the arcade game villain-turned-hero of the title, who this time enters the internet after the arcade his game lives in goes online. John C. Reilly voices Ralph, with Sarah Silverman, Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk, Taraji P. Henson, and James Corden also part of the voice cast.
Creed II
Watch it in US theaters on November 21
While most thought that the legendary movie boxer Rocky Balboa had finally hung up his gloves, the 2015 spin-off Creed not only gave the character one of his finest movies, it paved the way for director Ryan Coogler to get the job of directing Marvel's wildly successful Black Panther. Coogler isn't back for the sequel, but star Michael B. Jordan is and he is once again playing the son of the original movies' Apollo Creed. Rocky creator and star Sylvester Stallone is back too, as both co-star and co-writer, as is Rocky IV's Russian powerhouse Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). In his review, GameSpot's Michael Rougeau said the movie gives the fans "exactly what you want, executed with amazing finesse."
The Favorite
Watch it in US theaters on November 23 Yorgos Lanthimos has made a name for himself over the past few years as a director of weird, funny, and very dark comedy dramas. Following The Lobster and last year's The Killing of the Sacred Deer, he returns with The Favorite. It's his most accessible film to date, but that doesn't mean Lanthimos has gone mainstream. It's set in England in the 18th century and focuses on the increasingly bitter rivalry between two Royal cousins to gain the attentions of Queen Anne. Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz play the related royals, while Olivia Colman is Queen Anne--in some ways a dry run for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in the upcoming third season of Netflix's The Queen. The Favorite looks absurd and hilarious, and rave festival reviews suggest that it's another winner from this distinctive filmmaker.
Robin Hood
Watch it in US and UK theaters on November 23 Ridley Scott's 2010 version of the the Robin Hood myth wasn't a critical or commercial success, but that hasn't stopped yet another version of the story heading to UK screens this week. This time we have a younger Robin, with Kingsman star Taron Egerton in the lead role. The cast also includes Jamie Foxx as Little John and Rogue One's Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham, and it's directed by TV director Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror).
Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us
Watch it in US and UK theaters on November 23 The surprisingly awesome first trailer for the live-action Detective Pikachu movie arrived last week. But ahead of that, we have this animated Pokemon film, which hits US and UK screens this week. It follows last year's reboot movie Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, and exists in a separate universe to the Pokemon TV show. The film centers upon five different people who are taking part in an annual festival that conjures up the legendary Pokémon Lugia, who will bless the world with a magical wind. Detective Pikachu is clearly aimed at Pokemon lovers and newcomers alight, and that won't be the case with this one, it should deliver everything a Poke-fans could want
The Girl in the Spider's Web
See it in UK theaters on November 23 Although David Fincher's 2011 adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo didn't do well as expected, the lead character, Lisbeth Salander, returns to the screen this Friday. The Girl in the Spider's Web is based on the first Salander novel written by another author (Larson died in 2004), and stars The Crown's Claire Foy as the iconic hacker, taking over from Rooney Mara. Director Fede Alvarez has taken the series in a more action-focused direction than the psychological angle of Fincher movie, and the movie has also been a commercial disappointment in the US. Nevertheless, Foy is a fantastic choice for Salander, and the Alvarez's previous films, the hit Don't Breathe and the Evil Dead remake, have shown that he is an expert at delivering dark and entertaining thrills.
Nobody's Fool
See it in UK theaters on November 21 The critics might hate his movies, but there's no denying the huge popularity of Tyler Perry. For more than a decade, the writer/director/producer/actor has released a steady stream of comedies, many of them featuring Perry as Madea, an elderly woman who takes no nonsense from anyone. Nobody's Fool is his latest movie, and while Perry stays behind the camera this time, it does star Tiffany Haddish, the lead of last year's Girl's Trip and the current comedy hit Night School. Haddish plays a recently-paroled woman who helps her straight-laced sister get revenge on a man who wronged her.
Assassination Nation
See it in UK theaters on November 23 This dark satire takes the high school movie into some wild places. A group of teenage girls are targeted by the older members of their town when their phones are mysteriously hacked, and things soon descend into chaos and violence. Assassination Nation is sure to play well to horror fans and those who like their movies a little dangerous, and many of its themes are relevant to what is going on society today. The movie's tongue-in-cheek content warning says it all: "drug use, sexual content, toxic masculinity, homophobia, transphobia, guns, nationalism, racism, kidnapping, the male gaze, sexism, swearing, torture, violence, gore, weapons, and fragile male egos."
The Christmas Chronicles

Black Friday is set to officially begin on November 23, but a few retailers--like Sentai Filmworks and Funimation--have posted deals ahead of the holiday. It's Thanksgiving today, so once you're done consuming your body weight in food, you can settle in and score yourself some discounts. Sentai Filmworks is lowering the prices of its online store's 600+ titles by up to 85% and offering free shipping on all orders that are $75 or more. Rightstuf has close to 1,000 anime and manga on sale this week, as well as figures, art books, and soundtracks. Funimation is offering huge discounts on massive Blu-ray bundles, and Crunchyroll is discounting pretty much everything from games to plushes. It's about three people--two siblings and the woman they run into--working together to find their way home after an earthquake wrecks Tokyo. Normally priced at $70, Sentai Filmworks is selling the Blu-ray for $19. 91 Days isn't nearly as sad, but it's no less tragic. It's about a young boy--who watched his entire family get murdered by the mafia--growing up to join the mafia so he can take his revenge and destroy the crime family from the inside. Hyouka is a one of anime's many modern retellings of Sherlock Holmes. Series protagonist Oreki is a pragmatic high school student with a natural talent for deduction. Much to his annoyance, the energetic Eru is fascinated by his ability and ropes him into helping her solve mysteries across the city. Sharing several themes with tragic anime, the most notable difference with dramatic anime is typically the happier ending. That doesn't mean these shows are any less emotional to get through, and quite a few are just as sad as a tragedy for touching on triggering content and events, such as bullying, self-harm, suicide, and gender discrimination. Orange is a perfect example. The series follows high school girl Naho, who receives a letter one day that claims to be from her future self. The letter lists all of Naho's future regrets, as well as how to avoid them. Most notable is the regret that she didn't do more to befriend Kakeru, a new transfer student that will supposedly commit suicide in the near future. The anime follows Naho's efforts to save Kakeru's life, as well as improve her own by overcoming her own shortcomings outlined in the letter. Although some anime are created as an original series, most are adapted from manga, light novels, or video games. Manga, Japan's versions of comics, and light novels, which are just bite-sized versions of full-fledged novels, are the two usual inspirations. Origin is kicking off its Black Friday sale a little early. Right now, you can find dozens of PC games and their DLC expansions being sold at a discount on Origin. If you haven't played many of the publisher's classic games, now's your chance to pick them up. Of course, there's plenty more games the service sells as well. In the following feature, we outline the best deals being offered through Origin. Deals are listed by franchise, such as Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect, to make things a little easier if you're looking for a specific game. Remember, Origin only sells PC games, so the deals listed in this gallery don't include Xbox One or PS4.
